It has been the 777 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 10 April, there were 47 tactical engagements.

The enemy launched a total of 6 missile and 65 air strikes, 61 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Residential apartment blocks and private houses, as well as other infrastructure, got destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of an offensive group formed were noticed.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. They launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Derhachi, Lyptsi, Vovchansk (Kharkiv oblast) and the city of Kharkiv. Around 20 settlements, including Yanzhulivka, Buchky, Kostobobriv (Chernihiv oblast), Holubivka, Vilna Sloboda, and Khodyne (Sumy oblast) came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kupiansk, the invaders conducted no offensives. However, the enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Kurylivka and Kruhlyakivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Stepova Novoselivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 assaults in the vicinity of Terny (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy attempted to breach Ukrainian defense. The adversary launched an air strike in the area of Serebryanka forestry (Luhansk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, and Zarichne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Vyimka, Rozdolivka, Chasiv Yar, and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders, using airstrikes, attempted to improve their tactical position. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Spirne, Verkhnokamianske, and Ivanivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, and Chasiv Yar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks in the vicinities of Umanske and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The russian army launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Oleksandropil, Semenivka, Novokalynove, Berdychi, and Netailove (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, and Semenivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka, where the invaders, with air support, made 14 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The occupiers launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Kostyantynivka, Vuhledar, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy, with air support, launched 1 attack on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Malynivka, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka, and Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy have not abandoned its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. In particular during the day of April 10, the invaders launched 5 attacks on positions of the Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Beryslav, Ivanivka, and Novotyahynka (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 1 anti-aircraft missile system, 1 buildup of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 artillery system, and 1 electronic warfare station.

The Ukrainian Rocket Forces hit 1 anti-aircraft missile system, and 8 buildups of russian troops.

As of August 2023, the population amounted to 36.3 million people, of whom 31.5 million lived in the government-controlled areas. According to the Institute of Demography, Ukraine’s population could decline to 28.9 million by 2041 and 25.2 million by 2051. At the same time, according to analysts, the war has reduced life expectancy: in 2020, the average life expectancy for men was 66.4 years and in 2023, it will be 57.3. Women lived an average of 76.2 years in 2020. In 2023, it will be 70.9 years. In addition, 6 million mostly women and children are now in forced emigration. And the birth rate has decreased by 45% since 2021.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reports that Ukraine offered to exchange Catholic and Muslim prisoners, but russia refused. Muslims around the world will celebrate the end of the fast – Oraza Bayram. In addition, on March 31, Catholics celebrated Easter. On this occasion, Ukraine initiated an exchange of prisoners of war who profess Islam and Catholicism. The list offered by Ukraine to the russian side for exchange includes 1 Catholic and 146 Muslims. However, russia ignored the proposed lists. The Pope’s message did not motivate the russians to carry out the exchange, either on the basis of the “all-for-all” formula or under other conditions. Despite this unreasonable behaviour of the russian side, Ukraine expresses its readiness to carry out an exchange under the “all for all” formula on the occasion of the Orthodox Easter. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The invaders launched two guided aerial bombs at Vovchansk. According to the RMA, the strikes completely destroyed a clinic. A 34-year-old man was hospitalised with shrapnel wounds. A 54-year-old man was also injured.

Around 2pm, the enemy shelled Lyptsi and Mala Danylivka in Kharkiv region.  Three people were killed: a girl of 14, women aged 43 and 59. A 16-year-old boy and a 34-year-old woman were injured. In Mala Danylivka, russians hit a dormitory of a higher education institution. Firefighters extinguished the fire over an area of 500 sq m.

At 12:30am, a building of the educational institution was damaged as a result of the shelling of Husarivka village, Izium region. There were no casualties.

 

Yesterday about 20 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered artillery and mortar attacks: Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Lukianets and others. Kharkiv, Potykhonove, Chaikivka, Hlyboke, Ivanivka and Borova were hit by airstrikes.

 

At 10:30pm,7 houses, two cafes, a garage, an ambulance car and outbuildings were damaged as a result of hostile air shelling by 2 UAVs in Borova village, Izium region. There were no casualties.

 

At 4pm, a house and outbuildings were damaged as a result of hostile shelling by MRLs in Kucherivka village, Kupiansk region. There were no casualties.

 

At 3pm, houses, gates and a fence were damaged as a result of hostile shelling with MRLs in Kurylivka village, Kupiansk region. There were no casualties.

At 2:58pm on 9 April, a production building and 4 cars were damaged as a result of the shelling of the territory of the enterprise in Kharkiv by UMPD D-30. Four people were injured, the employees of the enterprise: a woman of 33 years old and men of 27, 31 and 55 years old.

 

At 1:50pm, a private house was damaged as a result of the shelling of Starytsia village, Chuhuiv region, by MRLs. A 63-year-old man was injured.  

 

At 11:30am, two excavators were damaged as a result of hostile shelling by a Lancet UAV in Zahryzove village, Izium region. There were no casualties.

 

At 8am, a private house and a garage were damaged as a result of hostile shelling by MRLs in Podoly village, Kupiansk region. There were no casualties.

 

Yesterday Ukrainian troops repelled two hostile attacks near Kyslivka and Ivanivka towards Kupiansk.

 

Combined bomb disposal teams cleared 174.21 hectares of territory and destroyed 552 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that yesterday the invaders attacked the oblast 1,995 times. Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka, Sloviansk, Zarichne and Sokil were targeted.

80 civilian objects were damaged, including 44 residential buildings, an orphanage, administrative buildings, educational institutions, a church, a greenhouse, shops, trade pavilions, 10 cars, a gas pipeline and a power line.

Also russia dropped three KAB-500 guided missiles on Kostiantynivka, one of which hit a residential building. The shelling killed three civilians, including a 12-year-old boy and his 42-year-old mother. Two residents were injured, 10 apartment buildings and 27 private houses, an educational institution, a church, 4 shops and 8 trade pavilions destroyed.

The enemy attacked Sloviansk three times by an UMPB-D30SM bomb and Smerch MRLs. Three civilians were injured and an administrative building damaged.

Also russians launched four S-400 missiles at Druzhkivka, damaging 5 apartment buildings, an orphanage, 4 administrative buildings and 9 civilian cars.

Three residents of Krasnohorivka were injured and two private houses damaged as a result of the artillery shelling.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, russians used aircraft along the frontline over the day. Specifically, they attacked Novoselivske and Tverdokhlibove. At least eight enemy UAVs attempted to hit Ukrainian military positions near Nevske. The invaders shelled Nevske and Makiivka by various types of weapons like cannon, rocket artillery and mortars. Enemy attacks were repelled near Andriivka towards Kupiansk and Bilohorivka towards Bakhmut.

The invaders are putting pressure on World War II veterans who live in the territory of the “lpr” and do not hold Russian passports as they are going to deprive them of benefits, arguing that the elderly do not have a russian-type veteran’s certificate. It can only be obtained if you have the appropriate passport.

By the way, to replace the document, almost 100-year-old people need to personally appear at the social security office. There are no off-site appointments.

Back in December, the people, who started the demonstrative rebuilding of Rubizhne, dismantled several damaged roofs of apartment buildings. The residents hoped that the repairs would be completed as soon as possible, but the workers disappeared, and the apartments were flooded from the top to the bottom floor with rain.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Laurinas Kasciūnas, Lithuania’s Minister of Defense, visited Kyiv for the first time in his new position and met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed the importance of Lithuania’s continued leadership in the international mine action coalition, the defence industry cooperation development, work on a security guarantees document, and further comprehensive support.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries, informed that the Second UK-Ukraine Defense Partnership Conference was held in Kyiv on 8-9 April. 350 participants from 29 British companies and 67 Ukrainian ones took part in the event.  According to the minister, important agreements signed at the conference will strengthen both our countries and their defence industries, as well as promote joint weapon and military equipment production and technology exchange.

The regional military administration reported about the construction process of a radiation shelter for the Patriot Lyceum in Boryspil, which is designed to accommodate 500 people at a time. The work is sponsored by the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. The construction is carried out with inclusiveness and accessibility in mind. With this new shelter, the lyceum will be able to offer full-time classes in a shift format.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko met with Krakow Mayor Jacek Majchrowski in Poland. They discussed further assistance to Ukraine and the Ukrainian capital. According to Vitalii Klychko, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Krakow has transferred tons of humanitarian aid to Kyiv, sheltered more than 175,000 Ukrainian refugees, and organised a logistics centre to transport aid from other partners of our country.

Kyiv City State Administration reported that one can obtain free legal aid in person or online from the free legal aid system. One can also contact Kyiv City Contact Center by calling 1551 or applying to the ASC.

The RMA reported that 25 hub kitchens will be set up in Kyiv oblast by the end of the year to increase the number of children covered by daily hot school meals. Today, 12 regional hub kitchens prepare lunches for students of the 51st school in Kyiv oblast. In Bucha, thanks to philanthropist Howard Buffett, a factory kitchen has been built to deliver meals to four schools, with more to come.  

Zhytomyr oblast

Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, stressed that the environmental damage caused by the russian drone attacks on the infrastructure facility in Zvyagel is preliminarily estimated at almost UAH 50m. In addition, the examination results of fuel and lubricant leakage into the soil are currently awaited.

A rehabilitation project for the military called “Gratitude to Heroes” is being implemented in Zhytomyr oblast. As part of the project, nine military personnel from the hospital received psychosocial, psychological, and health care for three days in one of the region’s medical facilities.

Andrii Domanskyi (call sign “Artyst”), an actor of Zhytomyr Academic Music and Drama Theater of Ivan Kocherha, was killed at the front. The regional council reported that Andrii Domanskyi had been working as an actor for almost 25 years and played more than 40 roles. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has volunteered to defend the country.

Sumy oblast

On the night and morning of 10 April, russians attacked Sumy border three times by 15 mortar and artillery attacks. Khotin, Bilopillia and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled.

Sumy RMA reported that over the day, the russian military carried out 14 attacks, with a total of 50 explosions recorded. Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Cherneshchyna, Esman, Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled. The enemy used mortars, and artillery, dropped explosives from UAVs, and launched two missile strikes from S300 missile systems (on the territory of Chernechchyna community).

According to Sumyoblenerho JSC, in the Bachivsk village, Shostka region, power engineers suffered artillery attack from russia. The specialists were not injured, but the team’s vehicle was damaged. Five employees went to repair a power line damaged as a result of russian military aggression at a distance of about 3.5km from the border with the aggressor country.

Sumy RMA announced the creation of four more “Safety Classes” in educational institutions in Konotop and Shostka districts. In an interactive form, the rescuers told the students about the safe behaviour rules at home, emphasised the risks associated with explosive devices, reminded about the dangers in the water, and repeated the actions algorithm in the air raid alarm case. 

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, russian troops shelled Chernihiv border 12 times, with a total of 88 explosions recorded. As a result of hostile attacks on Semenivka, a civilian (a woman) was killed and 1 man sustained a mine blast injury.

On 9 April, three communities in the oblast were under hostile attack. The enemy shelled Novhorod-Siverskyi and Snovsk communities by mortars, with a total of 16 attacks. The enemy targeted Semenivka community using mortars, cannon artillery and MLRS, inflicting a total of 72 attacks.

The RMA announced that almost 23,000 households from 36 communities in Chernihiv oblast will receive free vegetable seeds. This initiative was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), while global producers provided seeds of cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, melon, peppers, carrots, zucchini, onions, and sweet corn. The distribution has already begun. 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening and at night, the enemy attacked Nikopol region 6 times, launching 2 kamikaze drones at the region’s centre, damaging an outpatient clinic. The occupiers shelled Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities by artillery. In the last, one a private house was hit. There were no casualties. 

The Air Defence Forces shot down an enemy UAV over Dnipropetrovsk oblast. 

During the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 7 times, launching 5 kamikaze drones and firing twice from artillery. Nikopol, Pokrovsk and Myrove communities were shelled. The shelling caused a fire, destroying an outbuilding and a car. A multi-storey building, a canteen, 2 administrative buildings, a utility company, 3 private houses, an unused building, a car and a bus, and a power line were damaged. 

The enemy also launched a kamikaze drone on Apostolove community of Kryvyi Rih region. No people were injured.

Vinnytsia oblast

Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that Vinnytsia oblast sent another aid to the front line defenders: Mavic 3T, Bandera Power, searchlights and thermal imagers.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, announced that during the air alert, the sky defenders worked in Oleksandriia region. Several residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged. There were no casualties.

Poltava oblast

The Executive Committee of Poltava City Council approved assistance for those affected by the 8 April missile attack on Suprunivka. Specifically, 136 people whose homes were damaged will receive UAH 10,000 each, UAH 20,000 will be paid to those who went to hospitals and UAH 50,000 will be paid to the relatives of the deceased.

An interactive safety class was opened in Poltava at the main office of the State Emergency Service. The classroom will be used to teach children about fire and mine safety, traffic rules and first aid.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that on behalf of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the fallen defenders’ families from Uman and Zvenyhorod regions were rewarded Orders for Courage, III degree.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 280 orphans and children deprived of parental care have left Cherkasy oblast with their legal representatives. According to Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, some of them have already returned.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday the occupiers attacked 6 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast 282 times. Also russian forces launched 3 airstrikes on Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne. 31 UAVs attacked Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriiivka. 14 MLRS shelling hit Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne and Levadne. There were 234 artillery strikes on the territory of Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriiivka, Malynivka, Robotyne and Levadne. There were 9 reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure objects.

The General Staff reported that the enemy attacked our defenders’ positions 5 times in the areas of Staromaiorsk in Donetsk oblast and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

The military personnel of “East’ Air Command destroyed a russian cruise missile in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The “East” command stated that defenders likely destroyed an Iskander K cruise missile.

The State Emergency Service in Zaporizhzhia oblast informed that yesterday, on 9 April, the State Emergency Service employees in Zaporizhzhia oblast confiscated and neutralised sixty-nine explosive items, including a cassette element of the Uragan MLRS. 

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine shared that russia has destroyed or damaged 1046 cultural heritage sites in Ukraine since the start of full-scale aggression. Of these, 38 are in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Overall, cultural heritage sites have been damaged or destroyed in 17 oblasts of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on all states and international organisations to condemn russia’s provocations on the territory of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the russian federation “seized, militarised and attempted to steal the nuclear power plant”, thereby posing a threat to Ukraine, Europe, and the world.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, announced that the russian authorities illegally detained and imprisoned two residents of the temporarily occupied Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia oblast, Marharyta Kharenko and Serhii Avramenko, for their pro-Ukrainian stance. The Southern District Military Court sentenced them to 16 and 20 years in prison under Article 282 of the russian Criminal Code (Extremism and Terrorism). According to Ivan Fedorov, currently, more than 50 residents of the temporarily occupied territories are illegally convicted and imprisoned.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that on 10 April, russian forces attacked the oblast by kamikaze drones. An energy facility and  a recreational facility were damaged and 200 settlements, including Mykolaiv, were left without power supply due to the enemy strikes. Fires also broke out as a result of the attack.

The press centre of Ukrenerho said that as of 1:30pm on 10 April, power supply to all consumers in Mykolaiv oblast and Mykolaiv city has been restored. 

The Navy Forces of Ukraine stated that Mykolaiv military personnel destroyed a Grad-P portable rocket launcher along with enemy personnel on Kirniburn using FPV drones. The complex was used by russian troops to shell civilian populations and infrastructure in the city of Ochakiv. 

Today, 10 April, Mykolaiv museum dedicated to shipbuilding and the fleet opened an exhibition dedicated to the memory of the founder and CEO of “Nibulon”, Oleksii Vadaturskyi. It was an entirely informal event, where people, who truly value the memory of a person who has done so much for Mykolaiv and Ukraine, and could have done much more if not for an enemy missile killing him, gathered to pay respect. 

Odesa oblast

Also russian aggressors launched missile and Shahed-type UAVs attacks during the night of 10 April. The enemy launched 17 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Cape Chauda, Iskander-K cruise missiles and one Iskander-M ballistic missile from the occupied Crimea. The attacks were repelled by the air defence missile units of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleh Kipper, Head of Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that four individuals, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed as the result of missile strikes at night. Seven more people were injured, with one in critical condition with lower limb amputations. Medical assistance is being provided to him. Today, between 6pm and 6:30pm, the enemy launched another strike on Odesa oblast. Preliminarily, Iskander-M missile complexes were used. Additionally, the transportation infrastructure along with trucks in the vicinity was damaged. 

The Department of Health of Odesa RMA stated that they received three medical vehicles (Hyundai Staria US4 and Kia Bongo) as charitable assistance from the Korean charitable foundation “From Korean Red Cross”. These new modern vehicles will be used to provide medical assistance to three hospitals in the oblast: Tarutyne Central Hospital, Balta Multiprofile Hospital and Berezivka Central City Hospital. 

Kherson oblast

The power outage occurred in Kherson oblast due to a russian strike on critical infrastructure in the southern part of the country. Emergency restoration work is being carried out by energy workers.

Police documented 17 war crimes by russian occupiers against the civilian population of Kherson oblast. Also russian occupation forces once again attacked liberated settlements on the right-bank part of Kherson oblast by MLRS, mortars, artillery, UAVs, and aircraft. The combined enemy shelling affected Kherson, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Sadove, Yantarne, Romashkove, Poniativka, Beryslav, Mykhailivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Monastyrske and Novooleksandrivka. 7 private houses, a cellular tower, a checkpoint, a shop and a car were damaged due to the shelling.

The enemy struck Beryslav with air guided bombs. As a result of powerful explosions, the shop building was significantly damaged, and a private house was destroyed.

The russian military attacked Novooleksandrivka community by a FVP kamikaze drone, targeting a cellular tower and an Invincibility Centre. The explosion caused a fire, which was extinguished by firefighters.

During the night, the enemy launched artillery and MLRS strikes on Kherson. After a series of powerful explosions, power outages occurred in some areas of the city.

A child was injured due to the detonation of an explosive item in the village of Novoraisk. A 10-year-old boy was playing with a cartridge case when it exploded in his hands. He received shrapnel wounds to his fingers and hand. Medics assess the child’s condition as satisfactory.

Yesterday the enemy conducted one assault on our positions on the left bank of the Dnipro river in Kherson oblast. Suffering losses, they withdrew to their original positions. Our soldiers continue to carry out comprehensive measures to maintain and strengthen positions. Confirmed enemy losses towards Orikhiv and Kherson amounted to 87 occupiers and 70 units of weaponry and military equipment. 8 field ammunition depots were hit.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The oblast sent a 500kW powerful generator to provide electricity to important infrastructure of Zmiiv, Kharkiv oblast, thanks to the Swedish Aid Center CF and the State Emergency Service in Volyn oblast. The generator will be delivered by special transport by employees of the Main Office of the State Emergency Service in Volyn oblast.

Zakarpattia oblast

On the instructions of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, as part of the targeted support package, powerful transformers and special equipment with a total capacity of 4,600kW were sent from Zakarpattia to Kharkiv, which will help provide more energy and ensure uninterrupted operation of the city’s critical infrastructure. The oblast received this equipment from Dutch partners thanks to the initiative of the Andrii Pivnia Foundation team.

Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, is in Zakarpattia on a working visit. On the agenda is discussion of educational issues, relocation of universities, development of professional education and implementation of national projects in the oblast.

For the first time, Zakarpattia will host the final stage of the All-Ukrainian School Olympiad in Romanian, Slovak and Hungarian languages ​​and literature. The competition will last from April 9 to 12. 32 students of grades 9-11 from Zakarpattia, Odesa and Chernivtsi oblast will compete for the title of the best in Uzhhorod.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that the community sent the drone control station to the special unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which works in the war zone.

Lviv oblast

Lviv oblast has approved a new Procedure for issuing and storing passes during the curfew. The new Procedure provides for the prohibition of placing the pass under the glass of the vehicle or in another visible place, as well as transferring the pass to others. Also, the owner of the pass is obliged to store and use the pass in such a way as to prevent its loss, damage, or access to it by third parties.

In the village of Novosilky-Oparski, Mykolaiv community, memorial stands were opened in memory of Andrian Skolozdra, Volodymyr Kuziv and Ivan Bai, soldiers, who were killed in the russian-Ukrainian war.

Senior soldier Nazar Markiv, resident of the city of Mykolaiv, Lviv oblast, fought in the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great, was posthumously awarded the III degree For Courage Order. He was killed on 14 May, 2023 while performing a combat mission near the village of Lyman Pershyi, Kharkiv oblast.

Rivne oblast

Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Ukraine, visited Rivne oblast and visited the regional rehabilitation facility for veterans together with Oleksandr Koval, Head of the RMA. Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that every serviceman who is registered in Ternopil community and takes direct part in hostilities, to ensure the implementation of measures for the national security and defence of Ukraine, can receive from the City Council a one-time payment in the amount of UAH 10,000 from the city budget for the purchase of equipment, technical means and necessary ammunition.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent 250 FPV drones worth UAH 4.5m to the Defense Forces thanks to the budget funds. Since the beginning of 2024, the community has already sen 1,650 FPV drones (7, 8, 10 and with thermal imagers) and 170 expensive quadcopters (Mavic 3T Termal, Matrice 30T Termal, Aurel EVO Pro Max 4T Termal) to the Defense Forces.

Chernivtsi oblast

Soldier Vasyl Kostash from the village of Chahor received the For Exemplary Service badge from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for exceptional achievements and dedication to the work he does. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The US Central Command stated that the country sent to Ukraine the confiscated weapons that Iran addressed to the Houthis. Over 5,000 AK-47 assault rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, RPG-7 and over 500,000 7.62mm cartridges were sent to the Ukrainian military.

EU countries will send over 157 generators to Ukraine due to russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The EU has already provided 10 large-capacity power generators from its own reserves worth €3.57m thanks to Austria, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. The aid is already on its way to Ukraine.

The US Department of State approved the sale to Ukraine of the HAWK Phase III Sustainment air defence system and related elements of logistics and program support for $138m. The Office of Military Cooperation of the US Department of Defense notes that the Government of Ukraine has requested the procurement of equipment and services related to the support of the HAWK Phase III missile system, including design and integration for communication and interoperability, reconstruction and overhaul of HAWK anti-aircraft fire unit systems, re-certification components, tool kits, test and support equipment, as well as technical documentation, spare parts and personnel training.

Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice President of the European Commission, stated that the European Union started preparing the 14th package of sanctions against russia. It should be adopted this spring.

Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, held a conversation with Jorge Monteiro, Diplomatic Advisor of the Prime Minister of the Portuguese Republic via video link. They discussed the situation at the front and urgent military needs of Ukraine.

The government approved the opening of a new checkpoint between Ukraine and Romania. The checkpoint will be opened on the border between the settlements of Bila Tserkva and Sziget Marmatsia. In total, it is planned to create 9 new border crossing points and modernise 13 more in the western direction.

In 2023, EU member states issued over 7,000 orders to citizens of the russian federation requiring them to leave the territory of the Union. According to Eurostat, this is a third more than a year earlier. Germany expelled the most russian citizens – 2,000 people: during the year, the figure increased by 154% (in 2022, 785 russians were ordered to leave the country). Orders to leave the EU are issued to foreigners who are in the territory of the European Union illegally.
