War in Ukraine today: latest news, November 18, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 633rd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On November 18, there were 64 combat clashes. The enemy launched a total of 5 missile and 58 air strikes, 33 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Moreover, on the night of November 18, the enemy conducted air strikes on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine using Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Ukrainian air defense shot down 29 of the 38 attack UAVs. Russian terrorist attacks have unfortunately resulted in deaths and injuries among civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there are no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group are observed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The invaders launched an airstrike near Stepok (Sumy oblast). Around 20 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Klyusy, Yanzhulivka, Mykhalchyna Sloboda (Chernihiv oblast), Znob-Novhorodske, Rozhkovychi, Chuikivka (Sumy oblast), Ohirtseve, Hatyshche, and Pletenivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted failed assault operations in the vicinities of Syn’kivka and east of Petropavlivka (Kharkiv oblast), where Ukrainian defenders repelled 6x attacks. The occupiers launched airstrikes near Holubivka, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Kotlyarivka, and Tabaivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the enemy conducted offensive actions in the vicinity of Torske (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched an airstrike near the settlements of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Verkhnekamzanske, Terny, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Makiivka, Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Yampolivka, Torske, Dibrova, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the invaders made assaults in the vicinities of Klishchiivka and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 attacks. More than 20 settlements, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Druzhba, and Pivdenne (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy conducted failed assault operations east of Keramik, east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 23 attacks. The invaders launched air strikes near Avdiivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Keramik, Berdychi, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, the enemy made unsuccessful assaults with air support in the vicinities of Marinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), where Ukrainian defenders repelled 21x attacks. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, and Yelyzavetivka (Donetsk oblast) were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Shakhtarske, the invaders conducted assault operations near Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast), to no success. Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 attacks in the area. The russian army launched an airstrike near Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the invaders made unsuccessful assaults near Robotyne, Novoprokopivka and west of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 25 settlements, including Luhivske. Orikhiv, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Kamianske and Prymorske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the settlements of Mykhailivka, Tyahynka, and Veletenske (Kherson oblast) and the city of Kherson suffered from enemy artillery shelling.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operation towards Melitopol and offensive (assault) operations towards Bakhmut, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.

Near the settlement of Krynky (Kherson oblast), about 20 servicemen from the 144th separate motorized rifle brigade of the russian armed forces deserted from their combat positions.

The russian occupiers continue to rob the civilian population of Ukraine, appropriating their grain harvest. For example, in the city of Berdiansk (Zaporizhzhia oblast), the so-called russian occupation “authorities” are trying to transport stolen wheat to their ports by barge.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 6 airstrikes on buildups of troops, weapons and military equipment of the occupiers.

The Ukrainian rocket troops hit 1 buildup of troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 artillery system, 1 command post and 1 ammunition depot of russian invaders.


Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov says that more than 2,000 Ukrainian-made drones have been handed over to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The batch included those made exclusively in Ukraine. Among them are copters and aircraft-type UAVs, including  reconnaissance, kamikaze, and reusable bombers.

Ukraine imposed sanctions against Azarov, Tabachnyk, Tsarev and 37 other legal entities. This was announced in Presidential Decrees No. 758/2023 and No. 759/2023.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, yesterday russian troops launched airstrikes near Holubivka, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka and Ivanivka. Towards Kupiansk, the Defence Forces repelled 6 russian attacks.

Deputy Mayor Svitlana Horbunova-Ruban reported that 406 children in Kharkiv have been left without parents since the beginning of the full-scale russia’s invasion. Before the invasion, about 100 children were adopted annually in Kharkiv. Since the beginning of martial law, according to the city council, Ukrainian citizens have adopted 14 children in the city.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that with the assistance of international partners, the construction of 7 shelters in educational institutions will be completed by the end of the year. With the help of international partners from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), 21 educational institutions are being restored this year. Repair work has already been completed in 6 institutions. Work on 13 facilities will be completed next year.

The press service of the Regional Administration said that russian troops targeted Kozacha Lopan of Derhachi community at around 11:30 am. Liudmyla Vakulenko, Head of Kozacha Lopan, confirmed that  the shelling damaged up to ten residential buildings, one of them was destroyed.

Yesterday russian invaders shelled at least 14 settlements in the region.

Specifically, Veterynarne of Kharkiv region, Budarky, Vovchansk of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kurylivka of Kupiansk region and other settlements were under enemy attacks.

Residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged. There were no casualties.

The fighting is still ongoing towards Kupiansk. Over the day our troops repelled 5 russian attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka. The enemy has made no progress so far.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 7.9 hectares of territory and defused 58 explosive ordnance.

As of 18 November 2023, 283 children have been evacuated from the dangerous communities of Kupiansk region. Another 12 are to be evacuated. The evacuation is ongoing.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, yesterday russian invaders stormed Ukrainian positions 23 times towards Avdiivka and 21 times towards Marinka. 

The defence forces are preparing to repel the third wave of russian offensive towards Avdiivka. Referring to Oleksandr Stupun, Spokesman of the joint press centre of Tavriia Defence Forces, they are likely to deploy heavy equipment, which has not been used very actively for several days. At the same time, russian invaders have sent infantry into the battle.

Mstyslav Chernov’s documentary 20 Days in Mariupol won the Audience Award at the IDFA 2023 International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam. This year, 142 films competed for the Audience Award. The award ceremony will take place at the Royal Tushchinsky Theatre on the evening of 18 November, followed by a special screening of the film. The winner will receive EUR 5,000.

Mariupol City Council reported that in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, residents of an apartment building were forced to take to the streets, as russians demolished the building with 144 apartments and gave people $1,000 each to buy new housing. 

The russian military carried out an airstrike on the town of Ukrainsk, Pokrovsk region, damaging apartment and administrative buildings, with no casualties. According to Selydove city Military Administration, russian invaders used an X-31 missile.

Donetsk police informed that russian invaders shelled an industrial area in Selydove and an agricultural enterprise in Kurakhove. In total, the invaders fired 7 times at civilians over the past day.

Towards Donetsk, 2 people were injured: in Netailove of Ocheretyne community and Maksymilianivka of Marinka community. An industrial building in Selydove was damaged and there were isolated attacks on Avdiivka. An agricultural enterprise and private houses were damaged in Kurakhove.

Towards Horlivka, 6 buildings were damaged in Raiske of Druzhkivka community. One person was injured in Toretsk and 2 buildings damaged in Shcherbynivka. In Chasiv Yar community, 2 private buildings, an apartment building and an industrial building were damaged.

Towards Lysychansk, a building was damaged in Serebrianka of Siversk community. Torske, Zarichne and Yampil of Lyman community were under attack.

Ihor Moroz, Acting Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday russians injured three civilians : in Netailove, Maksymilianivka and Toretsk.

The Mobile Mine Safety Classroom has started working in Donetsk Oblast. The rescuers demonstrated and talked about different types of explosive devices that are most commonly found in our region, and drew attention to the markings that indicate a dangerous area.

Luhansk oblast

Due to weather conditions, in some areas, russians are reducing the use of armoured vehicles. The number of attacks on our positions and settlements remains consistently high. The enemy opened fire on Nevske and Bilohorivka. They tried to advance towards Serebrianka forest on the border of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts, specifically, north of Serebrianka, to no avail.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the occupation authorities of Sievierodonetsk and other occupied settlements update evacuation lists for collaborators on the command from above. The number of places on them is constantly changing, so every time you want to get there, you need to prove your loyalty to the ideals of the so-called ‘LPR’.

The last one was the shortest ever – it did not even include the heads of the city’s municipal institutions. Also russians are giving fewer and fewer promises and guarantees of security to the collaborators.

In Lysychansk, they refuse to accept documents for privileges for the purchase of coal. In addition, the town has been left without centralised heating for the second winter. The residents of Lysychansk are solving these problems at their own expense.

In the temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast, russians are constantly checking the loyalty of collaborators and those who are not in doubt are not included in evacuation lists. 

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said that in addition, in cities where the heating system is destroyed, people cannot receive benefits for the purchase of coal for their homes.

10 invaders were eliminated and 20 injured as border guards of the Steel Border brigade of the Offensive Guard repelled an enemy assault towards Svatove.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA  said that the russian enemy attacked the oblast with UAV at night, the air alert was announced twice. There were no casualties, infrastructure and residential buildings were not damaged.

Kyiv City Military Administration reported that almost a dozen enemy air targets were hit on the approaches to the capital by air defense forces and means. The enemy drones were launched from the southern direction and covered a difficult route with a length of almost 1000 km. The drones attacked from the north. This is the second attack by enemy drones on Kyiv this month.

23 objects reconstructed with the funds of the Fund for Liquidating Armed Aggression Consequences and another 3 with UNITED24 funds were checked. As reported by RMA, this week the special commission visited the villages of Mila and Buzova inspected two anti-radiation shelters built in educational institutions of Boryspil region.

In Fastiv, they plan to create a comprehensive model of providing mental health and psychosocial support services. This was discussed at an event within the implementation of the USAID Ukraine project “Development of a sustainable public health system”. By November 2024, 10 spaces will be created. The first one is already functioning in the village of Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka.

Bucha City Council reported that the legendary Cyborg Vitalii Baranov, lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commander of the 206th battalion of the TDF,  was posthumously awarded with the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, 1st degree. This is the third state award of Vitalii, who had been defending Ukraine since 2014 and was the commander of the 90th assault battalion, which was the last to leave Donetsk airport. 

Zhytomyr oblast

A bridge between Zhytomyr and Kyiv oblasts that was blown up by russian troops during their escape from northern Ukraine in the spring of 2022 was restored. The reconstruction was financed by UNITED24 project. The 60-meter-long bridge over the Noryn River in Narodychi community is a strategic infrastructure object. This is the 21st bridge in Ukraine, which was rebuilt thanks to contributions from UNITED24 donors.

The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Zhytomyr oblast reports that another evacuation train with displaced persons arrived in Berdychiv on November 17. 14 residents of Donetsk region, including four children and two people with disabilities came to the oblast. They were taken by bus to places of temporary residence in the oblast.

There is an enterprise in Zhytomyr oblast that develops unmanned attack systems and manufactures batteries for FPV drones. As the head of the project reports, it can produce up to 30 unmanned attack systems per month. The company cooperates with the Army of Drones.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that the russians attacked the territory of Esman community, causing 2 mortar explosions.

During the past day, the russians carried out 25 shelling attacks on the border territories and settlements of Sumy oblast, with a total of 165 explosions from mortars, Hrad MLRS, D-30 howitzers and SPG-9. Bilopillia, Yunakivka, Khotyn, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka and Nova Sloboda communities came under shelling.

The Minister of Strategic Industry Oleksandr Kamyshin, who was in Sumy oblast on a visit announced that the number of defensive structures in the oblast, which is under constant russian shelling should increase by 10% by the end of the year. They must complete the arrangement of shelters at 23 facilities there. As of today, there are 1,576 shelters in the oblast.

Sumy RMA reported that 88% of educational institutions of the oblast are provided with shelters. This year, 252 shelters in educational institutions were repaired.

Martin Jäger, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited Sumy. Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of the oblast, said that the meeting discussed the security situation in the oblast, measures to evacuate the population from the 5-kilometer zone, assistance in the return of people from the occupied territories, and the prospects for the recovery of the oblast. According to him, only in 2023 the Government of Germany provided aid in the amount of over UAH 65 million.

Chernihiv oblast

At night, the russians carried out an airstrike on Chernihiv oblast. As Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of the regional military administration, reports, the attacks of the Shahed-136/131 UAVs were repelled by mobile fire groups and the means of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Infrastructure buildings were damaged as a result of ground explosions. Data on the consequences of this terrorist attack are being clarified.

During the past day, the russians fired 10 times from their territory on the border of Chernihiv oblast. As reported in the SBGS, there were 51 explosions on the territory of three communities: Semenivka community – 23 hits from a 120 mm mortar, RPG, unguided missles and FPV drones in the direction of villages Bleshnya, Karpovychi, Yanzhulivka, Leonivka, and Zarichcha, Snovsk hromada – 11 hits from a 120 mm mortar in the direction of the village Klyus, Horodnya community – 17 hits from a 120 mm mortar in the direction of Senkivka

SBGS reported that sabotage intelligence groups of the russian federation regularly try to violate the border in the north of Ukraine. Their main task is to identify the location of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, as well as demining the area. The aggressor state fires at border communities from its territory on a daily basis. In particular, russians are constantly shelling Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv oblasts.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council announced that at night the enemy shelled Marhanets community of Nikopol region with artillery. In the morning the occupiers attacked Nikopol with kamikaze drones. During the day they shelled Nikopol region twice and used three kamikaze drones. About a dozen artillery shells landed in one of Marhanets community villages. As a result of the attack on Nikopol, an administrative building was damaged.

​​The exhibition Choosing Freedom dedicated to the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade opened in Dnipro History Museum. The exhibition now consists of more than 200 exhibits. Among them are bullets, mutilated signs of populated areas, a detached turret of a russian tank, etc.

In Dnipro, medics operated on a soldier with a gunshot wound to the head. The bullet fragment was a few millimeters away from the carotid artery.

Kirovohrad oblast

For the first time in Kropyvnytskyi shopping center, blood was collected for the military needs and the oncology center patients. The action was carried out by the city’s Blood Transfusion Station team. 

Poltava oblast

In Kremenchuk, servicemen of the 71st Jaeger Brigade received a mobile stabilization point. It will provide front-line medical assistance to wounded soldiers.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA reported that 10 sets of anti-aircraft searchlights were sent from Cherkasy to mobile air defense fire groups. The defenders also received 100 FPV drones. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

In Zaporizhzhia oblast, the consequences of massive drone attacks are being eliminated. ‎Due to the explosive wave, dormitory buildings of a local higher education institution and ‎windows in several residential buildings were damaged.‎

As a result of the attack by russian drones, two buildings caught fire, one of which is ‎located within the infrastructure facility. In total, the fire spread across an area of 250 ‎square meters.‎

On November 17, russian troops carried out 155 strikes on 25 settlements in ‎Zaporizhzhia oblast. Occupiers targeted civilian infrastructure in the vicinity of ‎Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Novodarivka, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Novoadriivka, ‎Poltavka, Huliaypilske, Charivne, Levadne, Bilohirya, Novodanylivka, Shcherbaky, Luhivske, ‎Verkhnia Tersa, Kamianske, Piatykhatky, Lukianivske, Stepove, Prymorske, Plavni, Temyrivka, ‎and Mali Shcherbaky.‎

On 17 November, the russian military launched 8 drones at Zaporizhzhia, 4 of which were ‎destroyed.‎

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitaliy Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reports that on ‎November 17, russian forces shelled the water areas of the Kutsurub and Ochakiv ‎communities, as well as the city of Ochakiv in Mykolaiv oblast with artillery. There were no casualties ‎reported. ‎

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration with reference to regional military administrations and the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, air defence forces destroyed six Shahed-136/131 UAVs over Mykolaiv oblast.‎

The winners of the best project competition for the Memorial Complex honouring the warriors who gave their lives to defend Ukraine against the armed invasion of the Russian Federation have been announced in Mykolaiv. The All-Ukrainian Architecture Competition was commissioned by the City Council’s Department of Architecture and Urban Planning and began in early August 2023.

Odesa oblast

On November 18, russian forces attacked Odesa oblast using drones. DTEK Odesa ‎Electricity Networks reported that 2,000 families were left without electricity. In addition, ‎eight settlements remained without power due to adverse weather conditions, with the ‎most significant outages in Izmail and Odesa districts.‎

According to the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, Air Defense Forces ‎successfully downed one drone over Odesa oblast. It hit an energy facility, and one person was ‎injured. In addition, in Odesa district,  an energy infrastructure object and an ‎administrative building were damaged, resulting in a localized fire. One employee was injured and hospitalized.‎

In Odesa, near the sea at the 10th station of Velykyi Fontan, a new street art piece emerged ‎depicting Elon Musk. It was created by Vadim Luhovtsov under the pseudonym Vaud. Musk is ‎portrayed in a straitjacket with the caption ‘And I will be cured,’ referencing the Soviet comedy ‎“‎Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession”. This artwork follows a series of political murals in the streets of ‎Odesa by the same artist.‎

Kherson oblast

The russian military attacked Veletenske in Kherson oblast with artillery. A man was injured and hospitalised with explosive trauma, chest and leg wounds.‎

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reports that ‎volunteer was injured in Kherson due to another russian attack. He was inside a vehicle and suffered from injuries caused by explosives and shrapnel. He ‎was transported to the hospital.‎

The Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine reported that on November 17, they successfully ‎neutralized several russian military targets, including a field supply point, three observation ‎posts, eight units of armoured vehicles, two radio-electronic warfare stations, three cannons, a radio station, a tank, Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile ‎system, and eliminated 46 russian troops.‎

In addition, on November 17, the russian army attacked Kherson region 101 times using various ‎types of weapons. Residential quarters were bombarded, resulting in the ‎destruction of the House of Culture in Beryslav region. As a result, one person was killed ‎and three more injured.‎

Schoolchildren from communities in Kherson oblast received 350 laptops for studying. At ‎the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, more than 1,800 gadgets ‎were donated by UNICEF.‎

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

 Communities in Volyn oblast received 14 school buses. In total, Volyn oblast will receive 26 new ZAZ-branded school buses. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 66 school buses that were communally owned by territorial communities of the oblast were seized for military needs.

Zakarpattia oblast

Uzhgorod plans to implement the social project “I am a Veteran”. It is aimed at helping war veterans, their family members and family members of fallen defenders of Ukraine.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that the city sent quadcopters to the 14th separate regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that annotation boards to Mykola Kalynych and Andrii Pylyponyuk, Heroes who were killed in the russian-Ukrainian war, were installed on the facade of their educational institution.

91 children arrived from Kherson oblast to Ivano-Frankivsk, some of them accompanied by adults. In total, there are almost 300 residents of Kherson oblast in the oblast. They were accepted by medical facilities of Kosiv and Yarem regions.

Lviv oblast

The working group monitoring the proper use of budget funds met for the fifth time at the Lviv RMA, with representatives from seven communities providing input on 11 purchases.

Krasno Settlement Council purchased computer equipment that will help the defenders monitor the enemy activity. It has already been sent to a separate repair and restoration regiment.

In Skolivskyi Beskydy, on the way to Mount Parashka, a mountain shelter has been built in memory of soldier Taras Havrylyshyn. That was his last request. He was killed during the liberation of Kherson oblast.

Defender of Ukraine Andrii Mysak from the village of Murovane received the For Exemplary Service award from the Minister of Defense. The soldier has been serving as a contract worker in the ranks of the Armed Forces for 4 years.

The 2nd degree For Courage Order was presented to the wife of the fallen Hero from Boryna community, Vasyl Tsyurkal. The soldier had the call sign Angel, serving in the ranks of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade. He was killed on December 3, 2022, from an enemy sniper’s bullet while defending positions near the village of Bilohorivka in Donetsk oblast.

Rivne oblast

RMA representatives met with Serhii Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, Filip Pronin,  Head of Poltava RMA, and Vadym Hutseit, President of the NOC of Ukraine. They discussed supporting sports in wartime conditions.

Within the framework of the Side by Side project, volunteer builders of Rivne oblast,  continue to restore homes of local residents of Kochubei community in Kherson oblast destroyed by occupiers. The team from Duben region is currently working in liberated territories, repairing roofs. During the 2nd phase of the project, 25 roofs have already been rebuilt.

The President of Ukraine posthumously awarded Kostiantyn Hnitetskyi, former employee of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Rivne RMA with the For Military Service to Ukraine medal. The 49-year-old hero was killed on July 16 as a result of mortar fire in Luhansk oblast.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Shahin Omarov, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania in Ukraine. They discussed development of cooperation in the economic, tourist and social spheres.

A Safety Classroom was opened at Terebovlyan Academic Lyceum named after Yaroslav Stetsko. This is the 49th grade in Ternopil region and 104th in the oblast.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reports that at night, air defense forces were on alert in the oblast. There were no reports of casualties or infrastructure damage to the relevant services.

Khmelnytskyi sent 90 FPV drones purchased from the city budget to the military. The purchase price is over UAH 1,25 mln.

Chernivtsi oblast

The German city of Teltov has created an aid package, including a fire engine, a passenger bus, two rescue vehicles, a car with a lifting platform, pickup trucks, an excavator and 300 protective suits, worth EUR 200K for its Bukovina sister city Khotyn.

The government of the Netherlands has allocated over €2 billion to supply ammunition, maintain equipment and weapons, improve cyber security, as well as recover and reconstruct the country.

The first round of negotiations with the Federal Republic of Germany regarding bilateral security guarantees, as provided for in the Joint Declaration on Support for Ukraine concluded on July 12, 2023 in Vilnius, has begun.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Oksana Markarova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the USA. They discussed the initiative to organize a series of visits to the United States by Ukrainian delegations for in-depth information of the American society about the current situation in Ukraine.

Andrii Sybiha, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with Asaf Hajiyev, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation. They discussed, in particular, the security situation in the region.

Finland closes 4 checkpoints on the eastern border with russia. Border crossings will cease to operate until February 18, 2024 due to the “increasing number of asylum seekers”. Markku Hassinen, deputy head of the Border Service, clarified that all traffic will be prohibited due to the closed checkpoints.

UNICEF provided almost 29K laptops to students from the frontline oblasts of Ukraine. New devices  will be given for temporary use to students with disabilities, IDPs, children from low-income families, children deprived of parental care, as well as from other vulnerable categories.

LEGO Artists create sets with architectural monuments in Ukraine. Five unique meccanos are currently being given away, and will be raffled off to those who donate $24 or more to Ukraine’s reconstruction through UNITED24 by November 28, 2023.

Nova Poshta has already opened its branches in 10 countries, recenly in the city of Budapest (Hungary).

The Ukrainian cartoon Mavka. Forest Song collected over $20 mln at the box office. The cartoon was seen on big screens in 148 countries. The rental of Mavka continues, it recently started in Norway, Turkey, a number of Latin American countries and Slovenia.
