It has been the 449 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian army neglects international humanitarian law by launching attacks and shelling not only military, but also civilian targets.

Russian soldiers launched 36 missiles, 23 aviation strikes and about 30 MRLS strikes at Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and aviation strikes.

The russian army continues to focus its efforts on Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka. 17 combat clashes took place in these front sections. The fiercest battles are raging around Bakhmut and Mariinka.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the operational situation did not change. No significant signs of offensive group formations detected.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas with Ukraine. Russian troops conducted mortar and artillery shelling of Leonivka, Chernihiv oblast; Boyaro-Lezhachi, Pavlivka, Basivka, Myropillia, Sumy oblast, as well as Staritsia, Synelnykove, Ohirtseve, Hatysche, Nesterne, Budarky, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the russian army hit from artillery and mortar Kamianka, Kolodyazhne, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Masiutivka, Lyman Pershyi, Tabaivka, Berestove in the Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk oblast.

Towards Lyman, the russian military did not conduct offensive actions. Artillery shelling affected Makiiivka, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, and Verkhniokamianske and Spirne, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting is raging for the city of Bakhmut. They also conducted unsuccessful offensive actions towards the settlement of Ivanivske. Aviation strikes were launched in the vicinity of Bohdanivka and Bakhmut. Vasiukivka, Zaliznianske, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, Pivnichne in the Donetsk region were also  shelled.

Towards Avdiivka, the russian army conducted offensive actions towards the north but did not succeed. They launched airstrikes in the areas of Novokalynove and Avdiivka. Russian soldiers conducted artillery shelling of populated areas in Novokalynove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Toneinke, Pervomaiske, Karlivka, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

Towards Marinka, Ukrainian troops once again repelled numerous russian attacks in the area of the city of Marinka. The russian army continues to destroy populated areas along the front line. They struck from artillery Krasnohorivka, Marinka, and Pobeda in the Donetsk region.

Towards Shakhtarsk, russian soldiers did not conduct offensive actions. They carried out airstrikes near Zolota Niva and Velyka Novosilka. They shelled Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Novoukrainka, and Shakhtarske.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the russian army is on the defensive. They conducted an airstrike on the populated area of Novopil, Donetsk oblast and carried out artillery shelling of populated areas. Among them are Burlatske, Donetsk oblast, Olhivske, Charivne, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriyivka, Stepove, Kamianske, and Plavni, Zaporizhzhia oblast, as well as the city of Kherson.

Russian troops continue to put pressure on the local population in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson region, specifically in Henichesk region. Russian soldiers threaten deportation to force Ukrainian citizens to obtain russian passports.

Russian troops have arrived in certain settlements of Kakhovka region. They are not only occupying vacant houses, but also settling in homes where peaceful residents currently reside. People who express dissatisfaction are threatened with eviction.

The russian army has intensified counterintelligence measures in the temporarily occupied Kherson region. The number of checkpoints on roads between settlements has significantly increased, meticulous checks of vehicles and documents are conducted, and special attention is paid to the contents of phones.

Ukrainian aviation conducted six strikes on the russian personnel and military equipment buildup.

Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 21 cruise missiles and seven russian reconnaissance UAVs of various types.

Rocket and artillery units struck the area of armament and military equipment buildup, ammunition depots, three artillery units in firing positions, an anti-aircraft missile complex, seven radio electronic warfare stations, and russian radar station.

According to the official information of juvenile prosecutors, as a result of the full-scale invasion of russia, 482 children were killed. Over 978 children sustained injuries of various degrees of severity. The most affected children were in Donetsk oblast – 459, Kharkiv oblast – 277, Kyiv oblast – 128, Kherson oblast – 102, Zaporizhzhia oblast – 90, Mykolaiv oblast – 89, Chernihiv oblast – 70, Dnipropetrovsk oblast – 70, Luhansk oblast – 66. 

The press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that russia once again carried out a massive missile attack. Air defense intercepted several barrages of missiles and destroyed 29 missiles out of 30. “22 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were fired from strategic aircraft, two Tu-160s and eight Tu-95s. Six Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from the ships in the Black Sea, and also two “Iskander-K” cruise missiles from land-based operational-tactical missile complexes,” noted the commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Mykola Oleschuk. 

The manager of the NGO “Association of Sappers of Ukraine” Kustovska stated that it will take 60 years to clear the territory of Ukraine of explosives. Currently, humanitarian demining operators are making every effort to clear the area. If this process does not stop, the territory of Ukraine can be completely cleaned within 60 years.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least 16 settlements were under russian shelling.

In Kharkiv, volunteers distributed 40 vyshyvanka embroidered shirts to babies in maternity hospitals as part of the Born in Vyshyvankas are Invincible campaign.

The monument to Taras Shevchenko in Kharkiv was covered in a 50-metre-long vyshyvanka victory charm in honour of the holiday.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that in the afternoon, Tsyrkuny village, Kharkiv region, was hit. According to the Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Care, a 52-year-old resident of Tsyrkuny was killed as a result of the invaders’ missile attack. Two more civilians were injured. Doctors are providing them with all the necessary medical assistance. Two residential buildings in the village were completely destroyed. In addition, 13 private buildings and 14 outbuildings were damaged.

Russian invaders continue terrorist attacks on civilians and infrastructure. The enemy is using barrel and rocket artillery, mortars, aircraft, missile weapons, etc. In violation of international law, russian troops are targeting civilian objects.

Yesterday, the enemy shelled at least 20 settlements in Kharkiv, Kupiansk and Chuhuiv regions.

Last night, the enemy launched a missile attack, preliminarily from the S-300 system, at Tsyrkuny village, Kharkiv region. The missile hit the ground. There were no casualties or large-scale destruction. A private car was damaged.

As a result of two shelling of Novoosynove village, Kupiansk region, fire broke out in the forest. There were no casualties over the day.

Yesterday, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service examined more than 8 hectares of territory and defused 205 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that russian troops are concentrating their main efforts towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka, where 36 engagements took place. Bakhmut and Marinka remain at the epicentre of the fighting.

Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, informed that russians have been attacking Bakhmut all day today. The military brought most of their military reserves to the city and significantly reinforced the grouping in this area of the frontline. All attacks were repelled by the Defence Forces.

Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles Air Assault Company of the 92nd Brigade, stated that in some places, the Defence Forces of Ukraine have advanced up to two kilometres into the positions previously controlled by russian troops in Bakhmut. The invaders are being pushed away from their positions both in Bakhmut and on the outskirts of the city.

Third Separate Assault Brigade reported on the results of the offensive on the western outskirts of Bakhmut saying that Ukrainian troops have advanced 700 metres over a 2-kilometre area. The brigade added that this creates a foothold for a further counter-offensive.

Selydove City Military Administration reported that russian troops shelled Ukrainsk by injuring two women. The injured were taken to hospital. The shelling damaged apartment, private buildings and power lines.

Yesterday, the occupation forces shelled 17 settlements with Smerch, Grad and artillery. One civilian was killed and injured. The shelling destroyed and damaged 38 civilian objects.

In the middle of the night, russians launched a missile attack on Kostiantynivka, 1 person was killed and 1 injured. Two apartment buildings, 2 private buildings, 2 administrative buildings and a shop were damaged. In addition, the previous day, the enemy shelled Udachne community with Smerch systems, damaging 2 buildings.

Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka and Prechystivka were attacked.

Towards Donetsk, Kurakhove community was under attack: a correctional facility in Hostre, two buildings in Kurakhivka and another one in Hirnyk were damaged. In Krasnohorivka, shells hit 4 streets. The area of Avdiivka Coke Plant and the outskirts of Ocheretyne community were targeted.

Towards Horlivka, Chasiv Yar was shelled, damaging 4 buildings.

Towards Lysychansk, Zvanivka, Torske, Zarichne and the outskirts of Lyman were shelled.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration said that yesterday russian troops killed one civilian in Kurakhove. Another 5 people were injured. In addition, the body of a child killed during the occupation was exhumed in Tetianivka.

Luhansk oblast

Several people are currently living in the liberated settlements of Kolomyichykha community and they are being asked to protect themselves. They are under daily shelling. No one wanted to leave Stelmakhivka in recent weeks, people spent almost all their time in basements. However, at the beginning of the week, a man was convinced to be evacuated and yesterday four more residents, including one person with a disability, were evacuated. They are now safe. The Kolomyichykha Military Administration is in charge of their accommodation and provision of all the necessary supplies.

Thus, only one person remains in Stelmakhivka, where more than 500 people lived before the war. He refuses to leave.

Yesterday, russians shelled Stelmakhivka again. They also tried to attack nearby Novoselivske, which was emptied several months ago.

In addition, the enemy tried to advance towards Nevske and launched air strikes near Dibrova and Bilohorivka.

The occupation forces shelled Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka and Dibrova with artillery.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The KCMA reported that all enemy targets in Kyiv’s airspace on the morning of May 18 were detected and destroyed. The enemy attacked with Tu-95MS, Tu-160 bombers from the Caspian region, probably with Kh-101/555 cruise missiles. After launching the rockets, the russians deployed reconnaissance UAVs over the capital.

Falling debris was recorded in Desnyanskyi and Darnytskyi districts of the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that a fire broke out in a garage cooperative in the Darnytskyi district as a result of falling debris.

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that no facts of russian rocket hits were recorded in the oblast, but several private houses and two cars were damaged due to falling debris. The work of operative groups to identify and record the consequences of a terrorist attack continues.

Events devoted to the tragic occasions that took place a year ago in Mariupol will be held in Kyiv for three days. Thus, during May 19-21, the Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War will host the exhibition “Mariupol. 86 #НаЖиво”, public lecture “Invincibles” about the lost ethnic groups of Mariupol and performative literary event “#НаЖиво”. As a reminder, the city was almost 90% destroyed due to russian aggression and enemy shelling, without normal supply of electricity, water, and gas. The invaders are turning Mariupol and the surrounding villages into a military-logistics hub for the russian army.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the officer of the russian federation, who gave the order to capture the airfield in Hostomel, was declared a suspect. The figure is accused of committing intentional actions with the aim of changing the borders of the territory and the state border of Ukraine, which led to the death of people, as well as waging an aggressive war.

The KCSA reported that there are no plans to open the beach season in Kyiv. Residents of Kyiv are asked to refrain from visiting beaches and recreation areas, as there are no shelters there. Such a decision was made by the Defense Council of the city of Kyiv against the background of constant attacks on the capital.

160 entrepreneurs of Kyiv oblast will receive financing for the implementation of their business projects under the “Own Business” program. The average size of the grant is 241 thousand hryvnias. Grant recipients must ensure the creation of 352 jobs. Allocation of funds is carried out as part of the implementation of the state program “eRobota”.

The Department of Construction and Housing of Kyiv reported that the Kyiv City Council approved the list of housing for resettled people. According to the KCSA, there are 3.6 million residents in Kyiv, of which 250,000 are internally displaced persons.

The publication “Ukraine: Journalists on the Front Line” was presented in Kyiv, dedicated to media workers who defend the country both on the information front and on the battlefield. The presentation of the book took place in Ukrinform.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr RMA reported that during the night air alert in the oblast, three russian missiles hit the field, one enemy missile was shot down. Debris from the rocket damaged the summer kitchen and shed. There are no victims or injured.

7 enterprises relocated to the oblast, in particular from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions. The Department of Agro-Industrial Development and Economy of the Region reported that currently, the Relocate.Prozorro.Sale platform for relocated enterprises has 15 offers from the Zhytomyr oblast. In particular, these are premises for production purposes, warehouses, an oil depot, a workshop and a business center.

At the “Spilno” Children’s Centers in the Zhytomyr oblast, free classes are held to prepare for school – teaching writing, reading, literacy and mathematics. Classes are held as part of the cross-sectoral project of the In Touch Ukraine Foundation with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF Ukraine. Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that the russians made 180 strikes along the border of the Sumy oblast, shelling the communities of Bilopillia, Nova Sloboda, Seredina-Buda, and Znob-Novhorodske. The fire was carried out by mortars, barrel artillery, Hrad MLRS and AGS. In the Nova Sloboda community, a house was damaged, another one caught fire – during the attempt of residents to put out the fire, the russians opened fire on people from small arms.

The head of Sumy RMA Volodymyr Artyukh announced that the russian army attacked the Okhtyrka community with the help of a kamikaze drone.

Sumy RMA reports that the enemy shelled Esman and Bilopillia communities with artillery, 10 explosions were recorded. 5 houses and non-residential premises were damaged in the Bilopillia community. According to Yuriy Zarko, head of the Bilopillia community, the roofs, windows and walls of the buildings were damaged by fragments of russian shells.

The premiere of a film about the city, which put up heroic resistance to the russian invaders at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, will be held in Okhtyrka. Documentary film “Okhtyrka. A place of strength”, which tells the story of the city and its inhabitants, will be shown in the Okhtyrka Culture and Leisure Center on May 20.

The city of Trostyanets received 25 generators from partners from Poland. In addition to alternative energy sources, benefactors from the Polish International Solidarity Fund donated sleeping bags and shoes to the community.

Chernihiv oblast

The head of Chernihiv RMA Viacheslav Chaus announced that 32 explosions were recorded in the territory of Novhorod-Siverskyi region. The enemy attacked the community with mortars, barrel artillery and self-propelled guns. As a result of russian shelling, a paramedic-midwifery post was destroyed in the Semenivka community.

Chernihiv celebrated the Day of Struggle for the Rights of the Crimean Tatar People and the Memory of Genocide Victims. Representatives of the authorities, the military, public activists, representatives of culture and Crimean migrants gathered in the central square of the city and honored the representatives of the Crimean Tatar people who suffered from the genocide with a moment of silence.

The Ichnyan City Council reported that human rights defenders held a meeting with the families of internally displaced persons in Ichnya community in Chernihiv oblast. 39 families received food kits as a gift, and also took part in training on combating human trafficking. This topic is very important right now, because forced migration increases people’s vulnerability to criminals, the organizers believe.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to the head of the regional council, Mykola Lukashuk, the russians attacked Nikopol with heavy artillery again.  The shelling destroyed an outbuilding and damaged three more. Four residential buildings, fences, and power lines were also damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​According to the head of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration, Serhii Borzov, the Defence Forces shot down an air target in Vinnytsia Oblast at night. 

 

The ethnic locations for the photo shoot in embroidered shirts were set up by employees of the Kotsiubynskyi Literary and Memorial Museum in Vinnytsia. The photo shoot was a charity event and participants made donations for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Kirovohrad oblast

According to the Head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration Andrii Raikovych, in Kirovohrad region, air defence forces destroyed a cruise missile in the sky over Oleksandriia region and a drone in Kropyvnytskyi region.  The warhead exploded on the territory of a private household. The blast wave damaged 3 houses. The wreckage of the downed drone hit one of the facilities.

Poltava oblast

 

The head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Dmytro Lunin reported that the air defence forces were on alert in Poltava oblast. 

Ostapivka secondary school hosted a charity fair as part of the Countdown to Victory volunteer project to raise funds to support our defenders. The charity auction raised UAH 6,615. The students donated all the proceeds to volunteers.

Cherkasy oblast

Cherkasy police reported that employees of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department of the Cherkasy Oblast Police have been detecting and defusing explosive devices in Kharkiv Oblast for almost three months. 

 

The staff of Cherkasy State Technology University purchased technical equipment for the defenders of the 118th separate territorial defence brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

This morning, on May 18, the russian army shelled Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia oblast, once again. Local residents heard about 10 explosions. According to mayor Serhii Yarmak, the russians used artillery.

Yesterday, the enemy fired 90 times at 16 localities in the region: 82 artillery attacks on Huliaipole, Huliaipilske, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Bilohirsk, Shcherbaky, 7 MLRS attacks on Zaliznychne, Stepnohirsk, Malynivka, Poltavka, Kamianske, Stepove and an air strike on Mala Tokmachka. The destruction of 31 objects was recorded, civilian homes and property. One woman was killed and three men were wounded as a result of hostile attacks.

As a result of the last massive shelling, on May 17, 2 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region were cut off from electricity. In Stepnohirsk district of Vasyliv district, 4,415 local households were cut off from electricity. Power companies restored power to most consumers – 3,400 subscribers were supplied with electricity.

Mykolaiv oblast

In the Mykolaiv region, on May 17, Russian troops launched artillery strikes on the Ochakiv community and rocket attacks on the Vesniane community. A shell detonated in a residential yard in the Voskresenske community. Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported: “As a result of russian shelling of Ochakiv, the power line was damaged.”

Two buses were delivered to Mykolaiv by the community of the Czech capital Prague. Public transport is extremely needed in the city, as during the russian invasion many buses and trolleybuses were damaged by rocket attacks, and some of the vehicles were transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Snihurivka community in Mykolaiv region received 6,000 sheets of slate from the “Ranok Vidrodzhennia” charity foundation.

500 metal-plastic windows are being installed in Mykolaiv as part of a pilot project from foreign donors – the American GEM Foundation, HOWARD G BUFFET FOUNDATION. The first to be replaced was a five-story residential building and four educational institutions of different levels.

Odesa oblast

In Odesa oblast, the night of May 17-18 was marked by air raid alerts. In the evening, Odesa experienced a powerful missile attack. The invaders attacked Odesa with six “Kalibr” missiles and two “Iskander” missiles. All missiles were shot down by air defense forces. However, an industrial facility on the outskirts of the regional center was hit. There is one dead and three with multiple injuries. The South Operational Command reported that these people are the guards of this facility, civilians.

The port of Odesa was visited by Kurt Volker, Special Representative of the US State Department for Ukraine. During the meeting, they discussed the work and functioning of the “grain corridor”, and also discussed the fact that the Black Sea Grain Initiative has unblocked only the ports of Odesa oblast, although the ports of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions remain uninvolved in the agreement.

Today, on World Vyshyvanka Day, a charity concert and fair was held in Izmail on the square near the Palace of Culture. A vibrant concert program, original works by craftsmen, artwork, delicacies, and embroidered shirts were organized to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A Vyshyvanka procession with a 12-meter-long flag of Ukraine was held in Odesa. The event was attended by about one and a half hundred people, including students of vocational schools and cadets of the Odesa State Police. Last year, no marches were organized for Vyshyvanka Day, but this year they decided to bring the tradition back at least partially.

Kherson oblast

Over the past day, on May 17, russian occupiers fired 90 times at the populated areas of the Kherson region, firing 529 shells from artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks, drones, and aircraft, and launched a missile attack on the region. Critical, civilian and residential infrastructure in Beryslav and Kherson districts were attacked. There are victims. Russian war criminals once again attacked the village of Kizomys from the air, damaging 12 residential buildings, summer kitchens and outbuildings as a result of explosions of guided bombs.  

The enemy attacked Kherson three times, firing eight shells at the city. In the northern neighbourhood, 10 private houses and one multi-storey building were damaged by shells. 3 private houses and one apartment building were damaged by mortar shelling. 

The enemy launched rocket attacks on the Korabel neighbourhood, where damage to an unfinished building was recorded and apartments from the 1st to the 5th floors in two entrances of the apartment building were destroyed. Three people were killed and eight others sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of russian aggression. 

Among the victims are children, the russian army killed a 5-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old teenager was seriously injured. The police opened 31 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by the russian occupiers in the Kherson region.

In Kherson region, a police bomb squad rescued a resident of Velyka Oleksandrivka who tripped over a russian mine in the forest. The wounded man managed to crawl almost half a kilometre from the danger zone and kept calling for help. A resident heard him and called 102. The law enforcement officers used a metal detector and other special equipment to find a safe route.

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office is looking for victims who were illegally held by the russian occupiers in the seized building of the Kherson Court of Appeal. Witnesses of those events can also provide the necessary information to law enforcement. This was reported by the prosecutor’s office on Telegram. To establish all circumstances, residents of the region are asked to provide information by phone or e-mail, which is listed on the prosecutor’s office page.

The Kherson 124th TRO Brigade received modern drones from the Energoatom Company. The drones will help better see the enemy and all its positions.

In the liberated part of Kherson region, about 40 agricultural enterprises are operating and cultivating the land. They do this despite the shelling and mine threat. This was stated by Yurii Sobolevsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council.

A sports ground was installed in the de-occupied village of Kyselivka. During the occupation, the village’s social infrastructure was destroyed. A private donor manufactured and installed a sports and playground complex for free for over three hundred children who live there.

The Chornobaivka community received a new bus. It will be used to transport schoolchildren to classes. The transport was provided by the Water4Ukraine initiative.

Volyn oblast

Representatives of Lutsk city government and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk officially confirmed that the square, located next to Bratskyi Most, will be named after General Anders. Lutsk City Council signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Volyn Automobile Club NGO. The memorandum aims to creatively and interestingly transform the square.

Zakarpattia oblast

Premises for long-term residence of IDPs are being reconstructed in Pylypetsk community in Khust region. The project is implemented jointly with Czech partners.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Gabriele Gaselsberger, Trade Counselor of the Embassy of Austria in Ukraine. The purpose of the visit is to develop and deepen economic ties between Ukraine and Austria.

13 Medical institutions of Prykarpattia, that provide assistance to vulnerable categories of the population, palliative patients, persons with disabilities and internally displaced people, will receive 3,5K towels, 1 130 sets of bed linen, 51 large hygiene kits, 626 mattresses, pillows and blankets, from the International Organization for Migration.

A vehicle with the  increased cross-country ability was handed over to the military from the oblast thanks to the Rotary International organization.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, on the facade of Lyceum #10, an annotation board was opened to Yurii Kharkav. A soldier was killed on September 19, 2022, as a result of rocket fire in Donetsk oblast.

Lviv oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of public organizations and charitable foundations of Lviv oblast regarding border crossing for drivers. Representatives of the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard took part in the discussion.

Lviv City Council held a meeting with the Representative Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine. Joint projects on children and youth were discussed.

The international conference “Crimes Against Cultural Heritage – in War and Post-war Times” was held in Lviv. Participants discussed possible models of cooperation to compensate for damages caused to the objects of cultural heritage of Ukraine as a result of russian aggression, as well as regarding the investigation of relevant crimes.

In Lviv district, two thermal imagers, worth UAH 117K, were purchased at the expense of charitable contributions from the residents of Pidberiztsiv community and Polish friends. One device was sent to a soldier from Chyzhykiv Starostynskyi district, the other to a defender from Pidberiztsiv.

30 cars were delivered for the 24th brigade. This is the fourth time that off-road vehicles have been delivered from Great Britain for the 24th separate mechanized brigades named after King Danylo. Within three months, they provided the soldiers with almost 100 cars. A volunteer group of farmers from Great Britain calls their campaign Pickups for Peace. They give their own cars, having prepared them for military needs.

A new shelter for IDPs was set up in the old school building in the Velykomostiv community. 30 people can live in it at the same time.

IDPs from Drohobych region received 400 kits with hygiene products from the International Medical Corps.

Rivne oblast

The team of artists Cultural Airborne came to Klevan hospital for war veterans to support the military. In general, Cultural Airborne has over 800 concerts on the front line, in military hospitals, in units of rescuers and in liberated Ukrainian cities.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil soldiers of 105 separate territorial defense brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are in the areas of combat missions, wore embroidered shirts for the holiday. According to the military, the embroidered shirt is a symbol of resilience, a weapon and an inseparable bond of generations.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In the morning, during an air alert, the enemy struck Khmelnytskyi oblast. A series of explosions rang out. Air defense forces were working. In addition, there is a hit to an infrastructure object of Khmelnytskyi district. There are no casualties. Information about the destruction is established.

The RMA held an online meeting regarding the creation of the Veteran of Khmelnytskyi project. The goal of the project is to introduce new mechanisms and approaches to solving the main problems of veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war, their family members and the families of the dead.

Chernivtsi oblast

Employees of Chernivtsioblenergo continue restoration work on the frontline of the energy front of Tavria region. During the first two weeks of May, two shift teams implemented the task of restoring 0.4 kV networks in the village of Posad-Pokrovskyi. About a hundred electrical poles were replaced, 12 km of lines were installed, and almost 150 branches were installed to the homes of local residents.

Participants of the summit of the Council of Europe called on the russian federation to withdraw troops from the three countries. Japan in June will accept wounded Ukrainian soldiers for treatment. They will be received by the Central Hospital of the Self-Defense Forces in Tokyo. The Japanese government will also consider whether it can cover the costs of treatment.

Michal Dvorak, Minister of European Affairs of the Czech Republic, announced that the government canceled nine resolutions adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Czechoslovakia in the period from 1972 to 1980 on the transfer of free land plots to the soviet union, the successor of which was the russian federation. Namely, 59 plots in different cities of the Czech Republic. There are 25 buildings, including residential buildings belonging to the russian diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic.

In the city of Vlaardingen (the Netherlands), preparations are being made to open a shelter for the long-term reception of Ukrainians. The shelter is designed for 1K people, which will become the largest location for Ukrainian IDPs.

UNITED24 and ETNODIM created embroidered shirts for ambassadors. The shirts were based on ornaments from different regions of Ukraine, which were supplemented with elements related to each ambassador.

The Maxar Technologies company showed satellite images of how Bakhmut has changed over the year. The images show destroyed and damaged houses these days and in May 2022. At that time, there were no battles for the city.
