It has been the 495th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian federation continues to wage an aggressive war. Despite significant losses, they refuse to abandon plans for the complete occupation of Ukrainian territory. The russian army continues to kill innocent civilians in Ukraine, violating the laws and customs of war, using terrorist tactics, and targeting both military and civilian objects.

Russian troops launched another missile and aerial attack on the Ukrainian territory, using 3 guided missiles from the S-300 surface-to-air missile system and 20 Iranian strike drones of the Shahed type, targeting civilian infrastructure in the Sumy, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

As a result of the air defense battle, carried out by the Air Force in coordination with other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, 14 Shahed strike drones were destroyed.

Furthermore, the russian army conducted 44 airstrikes and about 50 MLRS attacks on positions of Ukrainian military and populated areas. 

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and aerial strikes.

The russian army is focusing its main efforts towards Luhansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka, where intense fighting is underway. There were over 30 combat clashes.

The operational situation did not change towards Volyn and Polissia. There are no signs of offensive formations being formed. Some units of the belarusian armed forces are carrying out tasks in border areas with Ukraine. The movement of russian armed forces units, which underwent training at Belarusian training grounds, has begun to further participate in combat operations on Ukrainian territory.

The russian army maintains a military presence towards Siversk and Sloboda. They conducted airstrikes on the city of Sumy and in the Katerynivka area, Sumy oblast. Russian troops carried out mortar and artillery shelling on over 10 populated areas, including Bachivsk, Khodyne, and Katerynivka, Sumy oblast, as well as Veterenarne, Kozacha Lopan, and Budarky, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the russian army were shelled from artillery and mortar at  Petro-Ivanivka, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and Kupiansk in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Lyman direction, over 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bilotserkivka in Luhansk oblast, and Verkhniokamianske, Berestove, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk oblast, were shelled from artillery.

Towards Bakhmut, russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions southeast of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and west of Bakhmut. Over 10 populated areas were affected by the russian artillery shelling, including Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Bila Hora, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Avdiivka, russian soldiers shelled from artillery over 10 populated areas. Affected areas include Keramik, Avdiivka, Severne, Vodyane, and Nevelske, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, despite russian airstrikes and artillery fire, Ukrainian military repelled all 14 russian attacks in the area of the city of Mariinka. The russian army shelled over 10 populated areas, including Krasnohorivka, Horlivka, Maksymilianivka, and Pobieda, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the russian army launched  an airstrike in the area of Blahodatne, Donetsk oblast. They shelled more than 10 populated areas, including Blahodatne, Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka, Shakhtarske, Zolota Nyva, and Vuhledar, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the Russian army focuses its main efforts on preventing the advancement of Ukrainian troops. They conducted artillery shelling on over 30 populated areas, including Huliaipole, Bilohirya, and Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia oblast; Marhanets, Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk oblast; Antonivka in Kherson oblast, and the city of Kherson.

Ukrainian aviation launched 14 strikes on Russian manpower buildup areas within a day.

Units of rocket troops and artillery targeted 2 russian manpower buildup areas and destroyed 5 of their artillery systems in firing positions.


According to Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar, the armed forces of Ukraine are carrying out offensive actions in the south and east of Ukraine. Over the past week, 9 km², and in the south of the country – 28.4 km² were liberated. In total, the freed area in the south is 158.4 km².

The IAEA reported that for the first time in 4 months, Zaporizhzhia NPP was connected to a backup power line to ensure stable cooling of the reactor and other important nuclear safety functions, but the plant is still mined.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops shelled at least eight settlements with mortars and artillery. Specifically Kozacha Lopan, Budarky, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and Kupiansk were hit.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, head of the Derhachi City Military Administration, said that russian troops shelled Kozacha Lopan from tanks. According to him, livestock was injured and private buildings damaged. The shelling hit the private sector on the northern outskirts of the village, where more than a hundred people live. They were not injured.

A flag with the signature of Volodymyr Zelenskyy was erected on Mount Denali, the highest point in North America, by a mountaineer from Kharkiv, Valentyn Sypavin.

Vadym Sumanieiev, deputy head of the Chkalovske Military Administration, said that the sappers have finished inspecting the critical infrastructure of Hrakove village in Chuhuiv region. According to him, Hrakove was mined by 80%.

The Ecopark near Kharkiv reported that they received a roe deer baby for rehabilitation, found near the de-occupied Balakliia and fed by a woman.

Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the RMA, said that there were no attacks on Kharkiv.

Towards Sloboda, the enemy launched an air strike near Pletenivka, Chuhuiv region. They also shelled Kozacha Lopan and Vovchansk with mortars and artillery.

Towards Kupiansk, Masiutivka, Kyslivka and Berestove were shelled with artillery and mortar.

At 12:05 pm on 2 July, the invaders attacked Kurylivka village, Kupiansk region.  The roofs and windows of residential buildings were damaged. There were no casualties. At 2:40 pm, Shyikivka village, Izium region, was shelled. At 6:50 pm, there was an enemy mortar attack on Kyslivka village and Kruhliakivka village of Kupiansk region. There were no casualties.

According to emergency medics, there were no civilian casualties as a result of hostilities over the day.

Pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service seized and defused 29 pieces of explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

PEN Ukraine reports that writer Victoriia Amelina, fatally injured in a russian attack on Kramatorsk on 27 June, has died in hospital. At the time of the attack, she was in a restaurant in downtown Kramatorsk with a delegation of Colombian journalists and writers. The death toll from the attack has risen to 13. Viktoria Amelina was a writer, member of PEN Ukraine and a documenter of russian war crimes for Truth Hounds, a human rights organization. She has worked in the de-occupied territories in eastern, southern and northern Ukraine, including in Izium region, where she found the diary of the writer Volodymyr Vakulenko, who was killed by russians. Vivat Publishing House has organised a sale of the last copies of the writer’s book The November Syndrome. The publishing house will donate all the proceeds to the Niu-York Literary Festival.

Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, summed up the results of the Defence Forces offensive over the past 7 days. She said that Ukrainian army continues to push back Russian forces towards Bakhmut, while Russian troops are advancing in Lyman, Avdiivka and Marinka. At the same time, Maliar noted that the number of russian attacks in the east doubled over the week: 6,457 attacks the week before last, 11,753 attacks last week. Fighting continues towards Bakhmut “to take the initiative”. According to her, Ukrainian troops are advancing on the southern flank near Klishchyivka village, while fighting continues on the northern flank.

Vitalii Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration informed that russian troops shelled Avdiivka with Grad multiple rocket launchers, cannon artillery and mortars about 12 times, one of them lasted for five hours without a break. There were no casualties since the beginning of the day.

Anastasiia Miedviedieva, spokeswoman of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that Hostre and Predtechyne villages were shelled. One person was killed and another injured.

The night before, russians launched a missile attack on Pokrovsk, killing one person and damaging a bakery. In the morning, a rocket hit the shore of a reservoir in Kramatorsk community, with no casualties.

Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar was shelled 26 times and Maksymivka were under Grad fire.

Towards Donetsk, the enemy shelled Kurakhove, damaging the building of an enterprise. There were isolated attacks in Avdiivka.

Towards Horlivka, Minkivka, Vasiukivka and Rozdolivka of Soledar community were targeted.

Towards Lysychansk, in Siversk 1 person was injured and 3 buildings damaged. The outskirts of Zvanivka community were shelled with multiple rocket launchers.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration confirmed that yesterday Russians killed 2 civilians in Pokrovsk and Novyi Komar. Another 3 people were injured over the day. Since the beginning of russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 1592 people have been killed and 3792 injured in Donetsk oblast. The exact number of killed and injured in Volnovakha and Mariupol is not known.

Luhansk oblast

Russians actively used aviation and artillery throughout the day. They launched powerful air strikes on Dibrova, Bilohorivka and Novoliubivka. Nevske is under daily shelling, including yesterday. In recent days, the enemy has been attacking along the entire frontline. It has become active again near Novoselivske. The enemy keeps trying to advance towards Bilohorivka and Serebrianka forestry. Our defenders are holding the line and inflicting losses on the enemy in personnel and equipment.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration said that in order to avoid paying compensation and providing benefits to the families of the deceased invaders, whose number is growing every hour, the so-called “luhansk people’s republic” is spreading the practice of using mobile crematoriums. One of them operates almost around the clock in Kadiivka. The bodies of eliminated ‘people’s police’ fighters are delivered there. This is how they cover up their losses in order to avoid paying compensation to their relatives.

Public sector employees are obliged to subscribe to local propaganda publications, such as Trudovaya Slava or Stakhanovskoye Znamya, at the cost of their salaries. Initially, the practice was applied to employees of the occupation administrations. However, since the second half of the year, teachers, utility workers and other state employees have been involved in the artificial development of these newspapers.

In Sievierodonetsk, the invaders invented a way to check the number of empty apartments for the second time. Last year, they threatened owners with forced displacement if there was no person in the city with documents confirming ownership of the property, which made some residents return. Currently, the occupation branch of Luhanskhaz needs to verify the data on apartment owners, for which the residents of Sievierodonetsk are asked to come to a certain address. The occupation administration has all the necessary data.

Yesterday, russian troops shelled the liberated settlements of Luhansk oblast 117 times. In Nevske, six residential buildings were destroyed by shelling. There were no civilian casualties.

Ukrainian National Guard soldiers of the 50th Regiment named after Colonel Semen Vysochin stopped a russian assault in Luhansk oblast. The injured invaders retreated from their positions with the soldiers following them. The corresponding video was published by the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Kyiv RMA reported that the occupiers attacked Kyiv oblast with Iranian drones last night. In two regions of the oblast, three private houses were damaged by drone debris, and one resident was injured.

Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a russian soldier was sentenced to 9 years in prison for robbing the property of civilian residents. The incident occurred during the occupation of the village of Obukhovychi in the Vyshhorod region in March 2022. Fleeing from the Kyiv oblast, an army man stole a gasoline generator, household appliances and tools from a private house captured during the occupation.

Bucha City Mayor Anatoly Fedoruk announced that an installation commemorating residents who died during the occupation appeared in Bucha. The memorial is dedicated to civilians who died due to russian shelling, execution or torture. The memorial contains 501 plaques with the names of the victims who have been identified.

Volunteers sterilized homeless animals in the city of Slavutych, Kyiv oblast, and the Chernobyl zone. Veterinarians of the Clean Futures Fund sterilized 230 animals during the campaign, which was held on the initiative of Save Pets of Ukraine. Volunteers have been conducting similar activities aimed at reducing the population of homeless animals since 2016.

The week of Ukrainian cinema has started in Kyiv. Those who wish will be able to see 7 modern Ukrainian movies in the open air at UNIT.City. Also, the exhibition “Armed Forces of Ukraine” was opened in the capital, where photos from all units of the Ukrainian army are presented – they can be seen in the Ukrainian National Information Agency “Ukrinform”.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr RMA reported that the 19th evacuation train arrived to the oblast from Donetsk oblast. Another 16 internally displaced persons, 10 of whom are children, found shelter in Zhytomyr oblast. All evacuees received medical and monetary aid, food kits. A free evacuation train runs every eight days from July 8.

More than UAH 100 million will go from the local budget to the arrangement of shelters in Zhytomyr. This decision was approved at the session of the city council. UAH 25 million will be spent on modular shelters, and UAH 73 million will be spent on ensuring the educational process in wartime conditions.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reportedthat  the occupiers shelled 8 communities in Sumy oblast, striking their territories with 116 hits. The communities of Krasnopillia, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Yunakivka, Khotyn, Hlukhiv, Shalyhine and Putivl were under shelling. The enemy used mortars, artillery, AGS, and also dropped a bomb from a UAV. As a result of artillery shelling, 2 private houses in the Krasnopillia community were damaged. Two houses in Putivl community were damaged by mortar strikes, one of which was destroyed.

At night and in the morning, the russian military struck 4 communities of the Sumy oblast, in total 12 explosions were recorded. Khotin, Seredina-Buda, Bilopillia and Esman communities came under shelling. Fire was conducted from mortars – 8 explosions, and tanks – 4 explosions.

Sumy RMA reports that the occupiers hit with four UAVs in the center of the city of Sumy. An administrative building and two apartment buildings were damaged. As a result of the strikes, one person died, 16 were injured. Injured residents were evacuated to temporary accommodation.

Buryn City Council reported that a doctor from Sumy oblast was awarded the medal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny. Tetyana Tytarenko, deputy medical director of the Buryn Hospital, received the badge “For the assistance of the army”.

Chernihiv oblast

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that the enemy shelled three settlements in the Chernihiv oblast – a total of 22 hits were recorded. At night, the russian army fired 5 shells from barrel artillery at the village of Karpovychi. Before noon, 2 strikes were recorded in the village of Klyusy. In the evening, the occupiers opened mortar fire on the village of Arkhipivka twice 15 explosions were recorded.

Head of Chernihiv RMA Vyacheslav Chaus announced that during the past week, the russian military shelled the border of the Chernihiv oblast 31 times, a total of 186 explosions were recorded. As a result of shelling, 38 settlements in the oblast were left without electricity, the restoration of which is currently underway.

Chernihiv RMA reported that children’s spaces with play areas and rooms for working with parents and children have been opened in Chernihiv. The spaces, which are free, also offer remedial and psychotherapy classes for children. The initiative was created with the support of SOS Children’s Towns of Lithuania.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to the head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, russians shelled the Nikopol region twice during the night. They fired from cannon artillery at Nikopol and Marhanets. 9 private houses, 7 outbuildings, a car, a gas pipeline, a power line and a solar panel were damaged. An 86-year-old woman was injured. She has shrapnel wounds. An enemy UAV, a Shahed-136, was destroyed over the Kryvyi Rih region by ‘East’ Air Command. During the day, russians fired at Nikopol with cannon artillery. 

Vinnytsia oblast

​​The RMA reported that 25 workers from Vinnytsia oblast have gone to support the residents of Kherson. They will be cleaning up the city, which was severely damaged by the russians’ destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. The volunteers will replace the Vinnytsia-based drivers of special equipment and utility workers who started working in Kherson right after the tragedy.

Kirovohrad oblast

According to Head of Kirovohrad RMA Andrii Raikovych, enemy drones Shahed-136/131 attacked Kirovohrad oblast at night. Air defence forces operated. 

The authorities of the Oleksandriia RMA delivered 10 tonnes of drinking water to the village of Pavlopillia, Nikopol region, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, whose water supply was affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.

900 water disinfection kits, flashlights and hygiene kits were handed over by employees of the LAD volunteer headquarters to the residents of the Nikopol community.

Poltava oblast

Residents of the Hadiach community have purchased a DJI Mavic 3 (fly more combo) drone for the military fighting towards Mariinka.

Cherkasy oblast

Anastasiia Stolbova, a spokeswoman for the Centre for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine reported that Cherkasy Emergency Service has evacuated children with disabilities who were in grave condition from Zaporizhzhia oblast. The children will further receive treatment in a safer environment.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On July 3, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, and Chief of the General Staff, Serhii Shaptala, visited the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and held a meeting with President of Energoatom, Petro Kotin. During the meeting, various issues concerning potential scenarios at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is currently under russian control, were discussed. They reached an agreement to closely collaborate and ensure a timely response to any arising situations.

During the night, the russian army launched three missiles at the Kushuhum community in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The shells hit the private sector and an entertainment center, resulting in some damage. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, according to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Zaporizhzhia Military District Administration reported that three individuals from frontline settlements were wounded as a result of shelling by the russian army in the Zaporizhzhia region. The wounded included a 40-year-old man from the village of Tavriyske, an 80-year-old woman from the village of Preobrazhenka, and a 46-year-old man from the town of Orikhiv.

On July 2, russian troops shelled 20 localities in the Zaporizhzhia oblast, resulting in 33 instances of destruction recorded so far.

The water level in the lower areas of the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station has decreased to 12 m 14 cm (compared to 12 m 26 cm the previous day), which is 2 m 36 cm below the normal level. As of 16:00, one house on the right bank of the Dnipro River remains flooded in the Kherson region. Emergency services have pumped out 1,200 tons of water from seven basements and delivered 38 tons of water, as reported by the State Emergency Service.

According to mayor of Enerhodar, Dmytro Orlov, about a hundred Rosatom employees who worked at ZNPP left Enerhodar last week. However, about 5-6 thousand employees remain at the plant. 

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMA reported that on 2 July, at 18:37, the enemy shelled the coastal area of the Kutsurub community with artillery. There were no casualties. The russian army also tried to cause damage to the Mykolaiv oblast with attack drones. On the night of 3 July, air defences managed to destroy two Iranian Shahed drones. On 2 July, the air defence downed Lancet attack drone.

A delegation from the United Nations Office arrived in Mykolaiv today for a working visit. During the meeting, the parties discussed the humanitarian aid already provided by the United Nations to the residents of Mykolaiv oblast and the compensation payments to the residents affected by the flooding caused by the enemy’s explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. They also identified ways to restore the territories affected by russian aggression and resolved the issue of rebuilding housing for the region’s population.

Odesa oblast

A headquarters has been set up in Ukraine to develop an operation to launch a mine clearance operation in the Black Sea in the first instance. NATO countries may join the demining process.

Oleksandr Lonchak, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa Regional State Administration announced that vocational education and training institutions in Odesa oblast have received 21 generators with a capacity of 7 kW generators and 10 50 kW diesel generators thanks to partnership and participation in the EU programme EU4Skills: “Better Skills for Modern Ukraine” and the European Commission. 

Odesa Regional Military Administration announced the launch of an inpatient department for comprehensive rehabilitation for servicemen in the post-acute period. The rehabilitation unit consists of 2-3-bed inclusive wards and has a capacity of 100 beds. The facility provides round-the-clock nursing care and three meals a day. The department also has four multidisciplinary teams of specialists, including physical and rehabilitation medicine doctors.

Kherson oblast

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration,

the russian army shelled Stanislav with artillery, resulting in three residents being wounded, two of whom were hospitalized. Private houses and outbuildings were also damaged in the attack.

At night, the russian army launched attacks on Antonivka, Kherson, and Inzhenerne. They specifically targeted the left bank of the Dnipro River near Antonivka Bridge with artillery.

The General Staff reported that in Kherson oblast on July 2 russian troops attempted to hinder the advance of the Defense Forces. They carried out airstrikes in the areas of Zmiivka, Antonivka, and Kherson, while also firing artillery at Kozatske and Dniprovske. 

On July 2, russian troops conducted 85 attacks on Kherson oblast. 35 shells were fired at Kherson, causing damage to residential areas, agricultural buildings, and pharmacies. Similar damage was recorded in Sadove, Zelenivka, and Naddniprianske. Six individuals, including a child, sustained injuries according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.

Russian troops targeted four communities in  Beryslav region. Aviation and artillery were deployed to strike Zmiivka, Mykhaylivka, Zolota Balka, Dudchany, Kachkarivka, and Olhivka. Buildings belonging to an agricultural society, machinery, a car, houses, and outbuildings were damaged, but fortunately, there were no casualties.

Hola Prystan RMA has reported that as of this morning, the city center and the eastern part of Hola Prystan are still experiencing flooding. The water level has reached 70 cm. High-rise buildings are currently without water or gas supply, and the sewerage system is not functioning. In Kohany and Kardashinka, lower coastal areas are also flooded. 

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, volunteers and local authorities are actively collaborating to organize evacuations and provide necessary assistance to the affected individuals on the right bank of Kherson oblast. Every effort is being made to ensure the safety of the people. On July 2, a total of 159 individuals, including 23 children, were evacuated from the right bank by road. 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

From June 26 to July 3, 2023, 17 IDPs from Kherson oblast arrived in the oblast due to the explosion of Kakhovka HPP. In total, as of July 3, 77 811 IDPs were accepted in the oblast. According to the Unified Information Database, 52 84 persons received the IDP status, which is 37 299 families, of which 15 111 are children under the age of 18.

Zakarpattia oblast

Zakarpattia Regional Children’s Hospital received 45 computers thanks to the Government of Hungary.

The academic symphony orchestra of the regional philharmonic under the leadership of Honored Artist of Ukraine Victoria Svaliavchyk-Tsanko gave a charity concert in Uzhgorod in support of Ukrainian defenders. The collected almost UAH 13K will be donated to Zakarpattia Military Support Movement.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Representatives of the Ukrainian Association of Veterans of Afghanistan Volunteer Wing from Rohatyn received the Volunteer Valor award on behalf of General Serhii Melnyk, Chief of the Kharkiv Defense Staff. Since the war began, the organization has sent over two hundred vehicles to the front line, created a center for assistance to IDPs. After the explosion of Kakhovka HPP, she brought humanitarian aid to Kherson oblast, and now actively helps military personnel with rehabilitation and prosthetics.

Lviv oblast

The Department of Transport and Communications of Lviv oblast held a working meeting with heads of motor transport enterprises regarding evacuation measures in the event of a radiation hazard. They discussed evacuation routes and the number of vehicles that will need to be involved in the evacuation. Lviv oblast may become one of the oblasts to which people are likely to evacuate the most because of the geographical distance from Zaporizhzhia NPP.

In one week, over 5 million liters of water were sent from Lviv oblast for residents of flooded Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv oblasts thanks to the IDS Ukraine company, which includes Morshinska and Myrhorod mineral water plants.

The RMA reported that one of the victims of the russian missile attack on Kramatorsk on June 27 is Viktoria Amelina, writer from Lviv. She received non-life-threatening injuries. Writer, public figure, member of the Ukrainian PEN, founder of the New York Literary Festival in Donetsk oblast. With the war began, she documented the war crimes of russia liberated territories.

In Lviv, surgeons of the Unbroken National Rehabilitation Center restored the defender’s face with titanium prostheses. For 44-year-old Roman Yermolenko, the complex reconstructive operation was the 69th since the injury. In the battle, the warrior lost a leg and half of his face.

Rivne oblast

Vitalii Koval, Head of Rivne RMA spoke about the situation at RANPP and protection on the border with belarus. “We keep the issue of protection and strengthening of the demarcation line with belarus under control every day. We do not see the presence of the wahners. We continue to build fortifications and concrete fortifications, and dig ditches. Together with the military, we are conducting an audit of already existing structures,” said the head of the oblast. Vitalii Koval reminded that a separate defense budget has been created in Rivne oblast. These funds are directed to strengthening the perimeter defense and strengthening the material and technical base of the military. “Rivne NPP is protected. We understand that this is one of the likely goals of the occupier. The territory near the object is divided into sectors, which are assigned a certain subdivision. There are minefields, anti-tank ditches and fortifications all around,” noted the head of the RMA.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Serhii Shaptala, Chief of the General Staff ,arrived at Rivne NPP for the second time in three days. The issue of information exchange between the military and energy workers was worked out for the purpose of analysis, planning and forecasting of possible scenarios for the development of events at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

The RMA held a meeting with Eduard Burash, Prime Minister of Slovakia on issues of cross-border cooperation with Ukraine. They discussed joint development in such areas as industry, tourism, and business.

Oleksandr Tretiak, Mayor of Rivne, met with Bridget Brink, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US to Ukraine. They discussed the current situation in local self-government and the development of decentralization in wartime conditions.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil, servicemen with disabilities will be paid extra by the city council. Monthly financial assistance in the amount of UAH 3K will be received by military personnel who became disabled after military operations in Ukraine.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In the morning, during the air alert, in the territory of Khmelnytskyi, the air defense forces destroyed the Shahed-type strike UAV. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties or damage.

Oleksandr Simchyshyn, Head of Khmelnytskyi, announced that 8 Dji Mavic 3T quadcopters were sent from Khmelnytskyi for one of the combat military units of the city. Over the past 7 days, 18 quadcopters of various models and types have been sent to the Ukrainian military.

Chernivtsi oblast

On July 22-23, Chernivtsi will host a conference on the topic: Decolonization and Memory for the Sake of the Future. The UN model reproduces the activities of the United Nations, an international organization that, through the cooperation of states, must ensure world peace and security.⠀

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Switzerland will provide $6.1 million for the repair and reconstruction of about 30 schools in Ukraine. The funds  are earmarked for the restoration of about 30 schools in Chernihiv, Odesa and Poltava oblast that were affected by the hostilities.

Boris Pistorius, Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, announced that in the coming weeks, Ukraine will receive dozens of Leopard 1A5 tanks from Germany and Denmark.

The International Office for the Investigation of the russian invasion of Ukraine was opened in The Hague. The center was created to investigate crimes of aggression in Ukraine, which the International Criminal Court (ICC) cannot prosecute due to legal gaps. The US, which is not a member of the ISS, is also part of the initiative.

Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone conversation with Catherine Colonna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of France. They discussed the Vilnius NATO summit and the future accession of Ukraine to the Alliance.

Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for human rights, announced that Latvia extended the temporary protection of Ukrainians until the end of 2023.

Radim Yanchura, the Czech carrier RegioJet company’s owner, announced that the company plans to resume railway flights from Kyiv to Berlin in 2024.

On July 2, a solo concert by Harry Styles, British musician, a member of the One Direction band, was held in the capital of Poland. The famous artist took the stage wearing yellow satin pants and a blue jacket with a yellow collar and sequin fringe. Performing his hit Sign of the Times, Styles took the flag of Ukraine.
