It has been the 799th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 2 May, there were 106 tactical engagements.

The enemy launched a total of 2 missile and 58 air strikes, 89 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. There were no signs of an offensive group formed.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Krasnyi Khutir (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda (Sumy oblast), Derhachi, Lyptsi, Rublene (Kharkiv oblast). More than 30 settlements, including Bleshnya (Chernihiv oblast), Yastrubyne, Oleksandrivka, Volfyne, Vodolahy, Velyka Pysarivka, Stepok (Sumy oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 9 attacks in the vicinities of Synkivka, Novoiehorivka, Kyslivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast), and Stelmakhivka (Luhansk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Kotliarivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12 attacks in the vicinities of Hrekivka, Nevske, Serebrianka forestry (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Torske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Makiivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, and Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 19 attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Verkhokamianske, Rozdolivka, Vyimka, Spirne, Novyi, Klishchiivka, and Ivanivske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, using air attacks, attempted to improve its tactical position. The adversary launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Druzhba (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 31 attacks in the vicinities of Arkhanhelske, Sokil, Semenivka, Umanske, Kalynove, Yasnobrodivka, Netailove, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinity of Vozdvyzhenka Novooleksandrivka, Yevhenivka, Novoselivka Persha (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Arkhanhelske, Novopokrovske, and Sokil (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Kostyantynivka and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders, with air support, made 13 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinity of Vodyane (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy launched 1 assault on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Enemy airstrikes hit Vremivka, Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast), and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 15 settlements, including Bilohiria, Robotyne, Kam’yans’ke (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy has not abandoned its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River.The invaders executed 3 unsuccessful assaults on positions of Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Chervonyi Maiak, Ol’hivka, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Novotiahynka, and Kizomys (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 9 buildups of troops, and 1 anti-aircraft missile system of the russian invaders.

The Ukrainian Missile Forces hit 2 ammunition depots, 1x artillery system, 1x anti-aircraft missile system of the enemy.


Ukraine’s first joint burial of military personnel will take place in Chernivtsi: 16 Heroes will be buried in a mass grave. The soldiers were killed in an enemy air raid on Kyiv oblast on 11 March, 2022. 

The Prosecutor General’s Office informs that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has served notices of suspicion on 100 senior officers of the russian Armed Forces. The defendants were served with a notice of suspicion of preparing, starting and waging an aggressive war, as well as committing war crimes. 

Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, informs that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is going to limit satellite imagery of the country’s territory. She also added that she hopes other satellite companies will respond to the restriction of the space zone.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Kharkiv police reported that at 4pm, the invaders struck civilian infrastructure in Derhachi, Kharkiv region. A total of 8 children and 1 elderly man were injured in a russian attack. The 75-year-old man was treated on the spot. There were two hits, one near a sports club and the other in the ground. Among the victims there are two 11-year-olds, two 12-year-olds and two children of 13 and 15 years old. Their condition is of moderate severity. One boy also had an acute stress reaction and another diagnosed with minor injuries that did not require hospitalisation.

At 11:30am, a 66-year-old man was injured by shrapnel in Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi village as a result of hostile shelling. He did not need to be hospitalised.

At 10am, an enemy drone hit a car in Kucherivka of Kupiansk region. There were no casualties.

At 7am, a 63-year-old woman was injured as a result of russian shelling in Petropavlivka village, Kupiansk region. She was hospitalised in a medical facility.

Yesterday about 17 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered enemy artillery and mortar attacks: Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kotliarivka and others. Vesele, Kharkiv, Vovchansk, Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Podoly were hit by airstrikes.

At 11:27pm, the enemy attacked Borova village, Izium region. The shelling damaged an outbuilding and partially destroyed a residential building. A 66-year-old woman was injured but not hospitalised.

At 5:02pm, the enemy shelled Lyptsi of Kharkiv region. As a result of the shelling, the roof of the house was on fire and a 78-year-old civilian woman was killed.

At 1:10pm, the enemy hit Leliukivka village of Shevchenkove community, Kupiansk region, and as a result, the windows were broken and the roofs of the houses partially damaged. A 66-year-old woman was killed.

At 12:10pm, the enemy attacked near Hlynske village, Izium region. A tractor exploded on an unknown explosive device and the 46-year-old driver was injured.

At 10:51am, the enemy targeted Kharkiv. The shelling damaged 14 residential buildings.

At 10am, the enemy shelled Zolochiv, Bohodukhiv region. As a result of the shelling, administrative premises, the building of the Oshchadbank, more than 20 cars were damaged and a private house destroyed by airstrikes. Two people were killed and thirteen injured.

Yesterday towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 russian attacks, including Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Berestove and Kopanky.

111 children with their families were evacuated from certain settlements in Bohodukhiv, Izium and Kharkiv regions: Zolochiv community – 15; Borova community – 4; Derhachi community – 62; Lyptsi community – 30.

During the day, combined teams of bomb experts cleared 41.6 hectares of territory and destroyed 486 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that four civilians were killed and 8 injured as a result of russian shelling. During the day, police recorded 1967 attacks on the territory of the oblast. The enemy attacked 10 settlements: Hirnyk, Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Sloviansk cities, Zhelanne, Yampil settlements, Dalne, Kalynove in Kramatorsk region and Kalynove in Pokrovsk region. 61 civilian objects were damaged, including 49 residential buildings, garages, a car and a power line.

Also russia dropped a KAB-250 bomb on Kalynove, Pokrovsk region, killing one person and injuring two others. 8 private houses were destroyed.

The invaders shelled a mine by Uragan MRLs. Two civilians were killed and six injured. Three apartment buildings, 18 private houses and 8 garages were damaged.

Another civilian was killed in Krasnohorivka as a result of a hit on a private house.

The invaders struck Kostiantynivka by UMPB D-30 SM guided missile, damaging 10 private houses, a car and a power line.

Five hits were recorded in Sloviansk, where three apartment buildings were damaged.

Zhelanne was hit by an UMPB D-30 SM bomb and artillery, damaging 5 houses.

In addition, on the night of 2 May, the enemy shelled Toretsk, causing destruction on the territory of an industrial enterprise.

The White Angel unit is massively evacuating people from the frontline Krasnohorivka. A police crew evacuated four critically injured men from under attack. In addition, law enforcers evacuated seven more residents who survived the enemy attack and requested an emergency evacuation. After each shelling, the residents of Krasnohorivka turn to the unit for help. The unit moves as quickly as possible because the slightest delay can cost the lives of both rescuers and victims.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, yesterday the invades attacked Nevske and its surroundings several times. At least four explosions were heard in the village. The extent of the damage is being established. The settlement was shelled by artillery and drones. In total, the invaders used 51 UAVs along the frontline in the oblast. In addition to Nevske, enemy drones were spotted in Kuzemivka and Hrekivka. Also russians used mortar and artillery to shell Hrekivka, Kuzemivka, Stelmakhivka and Makiivka. The enemy launched assault operations near Stelmakhivka, Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka, Bilohorivka and in Serebrianka forest. Despite this, residents of Nevske and Novoliubivka received a weekly supply of bread, food, household goods and medicines.

Ten more cinemas on wheels will be delivered to the so-called “lpr” within a year with the support of the occupation ministry of culture. They will be used to organise leisure activities as holding mass events with the permission of the fsb, broadcasting selected films and propaganda TV programmes. The first 10 of these car clubs were sent to the occupied Luhansk oblast last year and some of them have already been agitating locally.

The new districts of Rubizhne remained in a more or less good condition. That’s why the invaders staged a demonstration restoration of the most surviving apartment buildings there. This is not happening in the southern district. The local occupation administration does not even promise to dismantle the rubble that has formed on the streets after the russian army destroyed the houses of the locals.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Kyiv RMA announced the request to limit mass religious events and observe the curfew, which would remain unchanged on Easter night. They also  recommended scheduling services and holding them online not to create crowds. During the service, residents should observe safety requirements in case of an air raid alert.

The Mobile Rescue Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv oblast reported that the wreckage of a russian Shahed drone was found in a field between the villages of Liutizh and Demydiv. Pyrotechnics seized the warhead of the UAV Geranium 2. It will be destroyed at a specially designated site by controlled explosion.

According to a statement by US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, on 1 May Deputy Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Isobel Coleman arrived in Kyiv.

The Ukrainian Women’s Guard held a training workshop on survival in the city during military operations. The event was aimed to teach Ukrainian women and men the basics of survival in urban environments, unite, support and help them during the war. Speaker Oleksandr Biletskyi, military expert, instructor and head of the Ukrainian Military Guard NGO, spoke about how to act, fight and survive without panic.

On 30 April, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Borodianka Department of Bucha Branch of Kyiv Regional Employment Center. The memorandum provides for the exchange of information, joint implementation of projects and programs aimed at improving access to jobs, improving the skills of employees and supporting the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Borodianka community.

Kyiv RMA announced that the oblast has accommodated 77 relocated enterprises. Some of them are already operating, others are setting up production.

The RMA also reported that Kyiv oblast and Vodafone signed a memorandum of cooperation with the emphasis on available and stable coverage of the territory. Safety and sustainable functioning of public life support systems are among the priorities.

During the presentation, Serhii Koleboshyn, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science, and Innovation, introduced an online platform to help school children overcome educational gaps and losses called TRUST in Kyiv. The pilot project will last until the end of 2024 and involve 2,000 students. Educational losses and gaps are caused by years of pandemic and full-scale war at home, which brought forced breaks in education, inability to study due to the destruction of schools, air raids, migration, and much more.

The city council of Bucha announced the arrival of Italian designer Paolo Coya. He has been living in Ukraine for eight years, actively helping citizens since the beginning of the full-scale invasion and plans to create a memorial complex in Bucha.

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitaliy Bunechko, head of Zhytomyr RMA, signed an additional memorandum with Safe Land. The organization is certified as a mine action operator for humanitarian demining in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation. Its specialists are certified according to NATO standards, have professional equipment and many years of experience. Today, with the assistance of the State Emergency Service, the company is training 50 deminers – 10 additional humanitarian demining groups that will be certified and begin their duties in the near future.

The RMA informed that almost 75,000 hectares of land in Zhytomyr oblast may be contaminated with explosive ordnance. The vast majority of hazardous areas are lands used in everyday activities – forests, agricultural land, and places where important communications pass.

The RMA announced the project management course implementation with the support of the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV) for the communities of Zhytomyr oblast. Representatives of 43 out of 66 communities in the region applied to join the course in the first registration round.

On 1 May, Zhytomyr welcomed Estonian MP Kristo Ann Vaha, who is cycling from Tallinn to Kyiv as part of the project Ride for Victory. Tallinn to Kyiv to support Ukraine and raise money for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, he plans to cover 1700 km in 6 days as part of the charity bike ride to raise money for four off-road vehicles and 35 FPV drones for the Ukrainian military.

Sumy oblast

 According to the RMA report, at night and in the morning, russians fired at  Sumy oblast border areas 6 times. There were 27 explosions from self-propelled artillery, cannon artillery and mortars. Khotin, Myropillia, Esman and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled.

Sumy RMA reports that russians shelled the oblast 31 times with 130 explosions recorded. Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Svesa, and Seredyna-Buda were shelled. The enemy attacked the Ukrainian border with artillery and mortars, FPV drones, dropped VOG ammunition from UAVs, and used automatic weapons.

Sumy police reports that on 1 May, 7 private households and a lyceum were damaged in Seredyna-Buda and Myropillia communities as a result of russian strikes.

Operators of one of the SAF units discovered and destroyed another Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system while working in Sumy sector. The occupiers unsuccessfully tried to extinguish the fire and save the equipment. The strike destroyed a launcher with six missiles and damaged the Buk-M1 firing system.

Andriy Demchenko, Spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, commented that Sumy oblast remains the area where the enemy is most actively trying to use sabotage and reconnaissance groups. In fact, several such groups are exposed there every week.

Mykola Torianyk, Head of the community, announced the evacuation from the 5-kilometer border zone continues in Sumy oblast. On 1 May, 25 people left Khotin community for safe places.

In 2023, Sumy authorities spent 10.1% of the state budget for AFU support. According to the report by DOZORRO, a non-governmental organization for public control of public procurement, Sumy ranks first among regional centres in the percentage of money allocated from the budget. 

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports that over the past day, russian troops fired 11 times at Chernihiv oblast border: Novhorod-Siverskyi community – 48 attacks with cannon artillery, Semenivka community – 14 mortar attacks and FPV drones, Snovsk community – 47 attacks with mortars and cannon artillery.

According to  Gael Veyer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine, Chernihiv oblast will receive EUR 400,000 of French aid to restore Chernihiv Central District Hospital and the National University Chernihiv Polytechnic that were damaged by russian shelling. The aid package also includes power generators and assistance in restoring windows and doors in damaged buildings. 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that the occupiers launched kamikaze drones at Nikopol, and the city was shelled with Grad rockets. An apartment building, an administrative building and a minibus were damaged. At night, Marhanets and Myrove communities were shelled twice with artillery. There were about two dozen shells launched . An agricultural company was damaged. In the morning, a kamikaze drone was sent to one of the villages of Myrove community. 

Since morning, the occupiers have fired 17 times in Nikopol region. They launched 12 kamikaze drones and more than three dozen artillery shells. They hit the region’s centre, Myrove, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. 3 multi-storey buildings, a gymnasium, 3 private houses, an outbuilding, a warehouse and a workshop at the enterprise were damaged, a car burned down, and 4 trucks, a moped and a power line were also damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Vinnytsia City Council reported that another 1800 FPV drones have been transferred from Vinnytsia oblast to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

“Happy Easter, dear Defender!”: the VinPatriot children’s volunteer centre prepared holiday gifts for the defenders. This time, local schools collected packages with sweets and gifts for the military who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in hospitals of the Vinnytsia community. 

Vinnytsia developers have produced a water drone for Ukrainian defenders that can be used for reconnaissance or transportation of cargo up to 15 kg.

Kirovohrad oblast

Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava Regional Military Administration/ informs that ten veteran business projects from Poltava Oblast will receive UAH 14.9m under the Start Your Own Business program.

Poltava oblast

Window constructions were brought to Suprunivka, Poltava oblast, to replace those damaged by a russian missile strike. They will be installed over the next week.  More than 500 windows will be replaced.

Cherkasy oblast

In Cherkasy oblast, Shpola City Council purchased 60 FPV drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A total of almost UAH 900 000 was spent.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Zaporizhzhia RMA reported that on 1 May, occupiers launched 368 attacks on Zaporizhzhia oblast. 8 settlements came under enemy attack. 

The enemy launched an airstrike on Novoandriivka, while 139 UAVs of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. Also, 15 MRLS shelled Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne, with a further 213 artillery strikes hitting Orikhove, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novoprokopiivka, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Levadne and Malynivka. 

There were 11 reports of residential destruction received, with no civilian casualties.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine published video evidence showing occupiers using kamikaze drones near the nuclear reactors of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Victory Day celebrations in Melitopol will be held online for the 2nd consecutive year due to “safety considerations”, as stated by the organisers. However, despite this decision, preparations for the commemoration in the occupied region are ongoing. Activists from the Yellow Ribbon resistance movement, operating in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, reported that occupiers are forcing schoolchildren to wear St. George’s ribbons. In case of refusal, children are threatened not to obtain a diploma and send their parents to the “basement”. 

Zaporizhzhia City Council announced the opening of a new rehabilitation space to assist veterans and their families in Zaporizhzhia. The space, part of the “Checkpoint” project, aims to help veterans adapt to civilian life and overcome post-war trauma.

Mykolaiv oblast

The press service of Mykolaiv RMA reported that on 1 May, the occupant forces launched an X-59 air-to-surface missile towards Mykolaiv oblast. The Air Defence Forces destroyed the airborne target, but debris from the missile damaged the transport infrastructure. On the morning of 2 May, an Orlan-10 UAV was shot down in Mykolaiv oblast. There were no casualties reported.

Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych announced that Hannover (Germany) continues to assist Mykolaiv. The city has received specialised equipment, generators, tools and medications from partners. This time, equipment for supporting the activities of educational institutions and municipal enterprises was transferred from Hannover.

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, says that 288,000 hectares of land remain mined in Mykolaiv oblast. Over 125,000 hectares have been cleared, but the pace of work is slowing down as the next planned areas are more challenging.

Odesa oblast

The press service of Nova Poshta reported that on 1 May, a russian attack destroyed the sorting depot and branch of Nova Poshta in Odesa. There were no injuries to any of the employees. The attack destroyed 904 shipments valued at UAH 3m. Despite the force majeure circumstances leading to their destruction, Nova Poshta has committed to fully compensate the cost of all deliveries.

The Agromarket warehouse in Odesa was also destroyed due to a russian missile strike. According to the company’s statement, the missile destroyed the Agromarket online plant and garden equipment store. Despite the destruction, the company is determined to rebuild the warehouse and resume operations.

Based on the information provided by Odesa RMA, on 1 May, Southern Air Defence Forces shot down 2 Shahed-136/131 combat drones and a russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAV in Odesa oblast.

During the night of 2 May, Odesa oblast experienced another wave of enemy attacks, damaging power supply lines. After receiving permission from the military command and rescuers, power engineers began emergency repair work and restored the power supply in a few hours.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that on 2 May, the occupying forces shelled the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson in the afternoon, damaging a store, an educational institution and a residential building. There were no casualties reported.

On 1 May, the russian military launched attacks on 22 settlements in Kherson oblast, including Berehove, Yantarne, Mykhailivka, Tomaryne, Zmiivka, Antonivka, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, Lvove, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Kizomys, Dniprovske, Tokarivka, Inzhenerne, Veletenske, Sadove, Mykilske, Prydniprovske, Ponyativka, Olhivka and Kherson. 

Also, on the night of 2 May, russian military aircraft dropped guided bombs on Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Kizomys and Dniprovsky in Kherson oblast from 3 Su-34 aircraft.

The occupiers targeted residential areas of the oblast’s settlements, damaging a high-rise building and 2 private houses. Also, There were hits to a hangar and an outbuilding.

According to the Center for National Resistance, the russian occupation administration is organising the forced eviction of residents from Hola Prystan, Kokhany and Hladkivka in Kherson oblast. People are being transported by buses from schools and transport enterprises, temporarily placing them in settlements in the southern part of Kherson oblast and Crimea. The living conditions in temporary shelters are inadequate and overcrowded, likely aiming to force them into moving to russia and to recruit men into military service in the occupation army.

Viktor Shapoval, Director of the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve named after F.E. Falz-Fein, reported that the illegal occupation administration in Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve concealed the transportation of animals listed in the CITES Convention to russia. They also concealed the export of gray Ukrainian cattle to annexed Crimea. Also, it became known about the illegal exchange of animals from Askania-Nova, which have nature protection status, for animals with only commercial value. As a result of the occupiers’ efforts, almost the entire collection of the Cape buffalo was lost due to hypothermia. The heat-loving species were kept in the open territory during the cold. Also, a significant number of saigas died.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that the community sent 4 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo and 3 DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopters to the A4056 unit.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Recruiting Centre of the Ukrainian army was opened in Uzhhorod City Council. This is already the 19th centre in Ukraine, it was created in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Uzhhorod City Council and the RMA. The centre will work as a consultative and information office, which, if necessary, will support the enrollment of those willing to join the Defense Forces.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that the community sent 30 FPV drones to the 2nd rifle battalion of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis.

As part of the Care for the Hero’s Family project, the 2nd race under the Rehabilitation Program for the Children of Fallen Heroes – 2024, which is supported by the organisations Ukrainian Canadian Advocacy Group and Rehabilitation of the Unbreakable, has started. For 10 days, 44 children of fallen defenders will be hosted by the Chevalier Panorama Hotel in the Carpathians. A unique program was developed especially for the project by Ukrainian-Canadian psychologists, rehabilitators, and nutritionists, which helps to stabilise psychologically and recover physically.

Lviv oblast

In Lviv oblast, a comprehensive examination of skin neoplasms was conducted for defenders of the National Guard of Ukraine. The initiative took place at Lviv Oncology Regional Treatment and Diagnostic Center within the framework of melanoma awareness month.

A master class on bullet shooting was held in Lviv oblast for servicemen and veterans. The training took place at the educational and sports base of summer sports of the Ministry of Defence Ukraine. They were attended by Ukrainian defenders who are currently undergoing rehabilitation in Lviv oblast. The shooting master class itself was conducted by the coaches of children’s and youth sports schools. They taught military personnel and veterans how to shoot with air weapons – pistols and rifles. The event was organised as part of the League of Invincibles project of the Youth and Sports Department of Lviv RMA.

Artur Kravchenko, military serviceman from Strii region, received the Golden Cross badge of honour. The award was personally presented to the defender by Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Rivne oblast

During the 797 days of the war, the air raid warning sounded 611 times in Rivne oblast. To sum up April this year: the alarm sounded 16 times in April (in March there were 20); the longest was recorded on the 11th – 3 hours 15 min (from 3:37 a.m. to 6:52 a.m.); the shortest – 12 April – 19 min. (from 19:36 p.m. to 19:55 p.m.); on 25  April, the alarm was announced three times during the day; the alarm did not sound for 6 days in a row (from 12 to 19 April).

Two Safety Classrooms were opened in Balashiv Lyceum and Berezniv Lyceum №1, Berezniv community. So from now on, there are over a hundred such safe spaces in the oblast. Classrooms are divided into separate thematic areas: fire and mine safety, first aid, traffic rules and psychological relief. This initiative will not only allow students to acquire theoretical knowledge, but will also form practical skills for actions during emergency situations.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA reported that Ternopil oblast sent 30 FPV drones to the 105th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defence of Ukraine.

The 3rd year the government, donors, and charitable organisations reimburse the funds of free temporary accommodation of IDPs, both to home owners and to institutions and organisations that sheltered IDPs free of charge. During this period, the RMA processed and submitted for compensation the applications of 56,700 home owners and 1,200 applications of institutions and organisations in the amount of UAH 130m. As of 1 April, 2024, UAH 125.5m (96.7% of the declared amounts) has been compensated.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that the community sent 5 Ukrainian-made EW equipment and 15 audiovisual surveillance equipment worth UAH 810,000 to 2 military units of the Defense Forces. This is the 1st such procurement through the Executive Committee on Military Applications. Previously, EW equipment was purchased through military units. In May, deliveries of a number of electronic equipment and electronic equipment worth over UAH 6m are expected.

Chernivtsi oblast

The weekly meeting of the Regional Defense Council was held. They discussed important security issues, outlined priority tasks in ensuring the life of the oblast under the conditions of the legal regime of martial law. The key priority is the safety of citizens and the protection of critical infrastructure facilities, because despite the remoteness of the oblast from the front line, the enemy carries out terrorist attacks throughout the territory of Ukraine.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, announced that the 1st Peace Summit will be held on 15-16 June in Burgenstock in Switzerland. The country invited 160 countries, including members of the G7, G20 and BRICS.

The US announced new sanctions against russia and countries that help it produce weapons. The latest package of US sanctions targets russia’s military-industrial base and its chemical and biological weapons programs, as well as individuals and entities in third countries that help moscow buy components for the production of weapons or defence products. Almost 200 individuals and legal entities were included in the list.

2 boats sent by Estonia were added to the national fleet of Ukraine. They were named after the Ukrainian hero city of Irpin and the city of Reni, whose port is closest to the Republic of Estonia. On boats Reni and Irpin, which previously had the names P01 Roland and P02 Risto, the naval flags of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were raised.

Presidents of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania called on the European Union to start negotiations with Ukraine on joining the bloc. They made such a joint statement on the 20th anniversary of the accession of the Baltic states to the European Union, calling for the opening of negotiations on accession to the EU with Ukraine and Moldova in June this year.

Lloyd Austin, Head of the Pentagon, personally asked leaders of several countries to send Patriot systems to Ukraine. Austin said this during the House of Representatives hearing on the 2025 defence budget request. He recalled the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine last week, which was focused on the issue of the supply of air defence equipment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia states that Ukraine has already received Western weapons with permission to hit russia.

The concert of anna netrebko, russian opera singer, was cancelled in Switzerland. The authorities of the canton of Lucerne asked the KKL Culture and Congress Center to cancel the concert due to the increased risk of public order violations.
