It has been the 685th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine. The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using tactical aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

On January 9, there were 64 combat clashes. The enemy launched a total of 1 missile and 29 air strikes, carried out 17 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential and apartment buildings, and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian forces maintain their military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Vesele (Kharkiv oblast). Around 25 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Karpovychi, Hremiach (Chernihiv oblast), Volfyne, Kindrativka, Stepok (Sumy oblast), Udy, Vovchansk, and Mala Vovcha (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast), where the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. The occupiers launched airstrikes near Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Tabaivka, Pishchane, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Tabaivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 assaults east of Terny and Vesele (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Nove (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Yampolivka, Verkhnokamianske, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks in the vicinities of Klishchiivka and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 enemy attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, and 11 more attacks in the vicinities of Pervomai’ke and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers, with air support, made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Oleksandropil (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sievierne, Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the enemy made 14 failed attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The settlements of Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, and Paraskoviivka were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Shakhtarske, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 1 enemy attack near Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the russian army conducted no offensives. More than 15 settlements, including Poltavka, Chervone, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the russian army fired artillery at the city of Kherson, the settlements of Vesele, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Dniprovske, and Stanislav (Kherson oblast), as well as Solonchaky, and Yaselka (Mykolaiv oblast).

The occupiers have not abandoned their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 9 unsuccessful assaults. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line and keep inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 9 buildups of enemy troops.

The Ukrainian rocket troops hit 1 buildup of enemy troops, weapons, and military equipment, 2x artillery systems.


According to the State Emergency Service, over the weekend, the Rescue Service specialists provided assistance to 87 people, including 20 children and 10 people with limited mobility, at the collection and boarding points for evacuation vehicles. Rescuers from the Phoenix evacuation group and police managed to evacuate 5 residents of Avdiivka to safer localities. 

During a meeting of the International Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of War, Andrii Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office,  says that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has caused more than €56 billion in environmental damage. Ukraine will demand compensation from the aggressor country. Ukraine celebrated the New Year under massive shelling from russia, which resulted in a deterioration of the air quality in Kyiv. 

Ukraine has changed the procedure for providing housing for IDPs’ temporary residence . The adopted amendments provide for keeping records of citizens in need of housing for temporary residence, even if there is no such fund in the community at the time of application. They also set out priority criteria for providing housing for family members of internally displaced military personnel and people who have been re-displaced after February 24, 2022.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on  January 8, Ukrainian troops repelled 34 russian attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Most of the fighting was towards Avdiivka and Marinka. 

Volodymyr Fito, Head of Public Relations of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed that five enemy attacks were repelled towards Kupiansk and two towards Lyman. The invaders launched 14 airstrikes on our positions using the entire arsenal of aircraft and helicopters. They also used two kamikaze drones and carried out 299 artillery and mortar attacks. The Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 87 invaders, captured three more, and destroyed 11 pieces of enemy equipment.

Kharkiv oblast

According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the invaders continue to terrorise the civilian population  At around 9 am, there was an enemy shelling in Slobozhanske village of Lypetsk community. The building of Slobozhanske Village Council and windows of three residential buildings were damaged. Power engineers, who were carrying out repair work, were under attack.

More than 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered artillery and mortar attacks, including: Vesele, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove of Kupiansk region, Bochkove, Budarky of Chuhuiv region. The enemy launched airstrikes near Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Pishchane, Berestove of Kupiansk region.

At about 10:30 am the enemy attacked Kupyansk. There were no casualties.

At 2:15 pm and from 6 to 6:40 pm, the enemy shelled Velykyi Burluk village, Kupiansk region, with Smerch multiple rocket launchers. The warehouses, the house of culture and the elevator were damaged. There were no casualties.

At 5:30 pm, the invaders attacked Dvorichna village, Kupiansk region. A 57-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were injured. The victims were taken to hospital, their condition is average. A private house was damaged.

Around 9 pm the enemy shelled Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region. A house and outbuildings were damaged. There were no casualties.

As a result of the enemy shelling, about 17K consumers are without electricity. Electricity was restored to 1,011 customers.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy offensive resumed. The  Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled several attacks towards Synkivka. However, all enemy attacks are predictable and our troops are holding their positions, none of them were lost.

Olha Demenko, Director of Kharkiv City Education Department, reported that on 6 and 7 January, the first trial classes were held in an underground kindergarten. At the Universytet, Akademika Pavlova and Peremoha stations, 411 preschoolers from all districts of the city attended. Demenko says that there are at least 600 people who want to prepare for school in the underground kindergarten, which is 20% of all children in Kharkiv who plan to go to school for the first time in September.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that the occupation forces launched 10 attacks using missiles, artillery and tanks. Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Siversk cities, Hostre settlement and Berdychi village were hit. A private house, an administrative building and a workshop were damaged.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, talking of Pokrovsk region, at night, russians launched three missiles at Pokrovsk and hit an industrial building. In Kurakhove community, the outskirts of Hostre and the industrial area of Kurakhove were shelled. In Marinka community, Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka and Elyzavetivka were under attack.

As of Kramatorsk region, 9 houses were damaged in Torske of Lyman community.

In Bakhmut region , Chasiv Yar community, 2 private houses and an industrial building were damaged. A house was damaged in Siversk.

Search and rescue operations at the sites of shelling were completed in Pokrovsk region. The victims were searched for with the help of dogs trained to find human remains. Investigators are examining the found body fragments, while forensic experts are taking biological samples and conducting identification. So far, five victims have been identified. Three of the victims from Rivne have been identified – a three-year-old girl, her father and mother, aged 32 and 30. In Pokrovsk, a 34-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman have been identified. Forensic experts continue to identify body fragments. Preliminarily, 11 people and their families were killed in russian strike. The search team managed to find about a hundred body fragments. Police are currently examining them.

Based on the information provided by Myrnohrad City Military Administration, while the procedure for identifying the deceased family in Rivne village, Pokrovsk region, is ongoing, Myrnohrad administration has begun preparing documents to help the families of the victims.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy became more active around Nevske, firing several times at the village. As a result, two explosions occurred on the outskirts of the liberated settlement. Also russians attacked Bilohorivka, which is happening almost every day. They used aircraft to hit Serebrianka forest. They tried to advance south of Nevske but failed.

As of mid-winter, there is no centralised heating in Lysychansk, which was promised at the end of September. There is no water in the taps even downtown. If the occupation authorities do not organise the supply of drinking water, thousands of people will be left without it.

A team of electricians from the russian federation, namely from udmurtiya, 1,700 km away from Luhansk, is being brought to Lutuhyne. The electricians travelled for several days to carry out work on the power grid as a “supervisory assistance”. Recently, an emergency team from ulyanovsk was sent to the area.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Kyiv City Military Administration reported that the number of victims of the russian missile attack on Kyiv on December 29 increased to 33 people. During the dismantling of destroyed building structures in a warehouse in Shevchenkivskyi district, the body of another deceased person was discovered.

Two more bridges in Kyiv oblast, damaged as a result of the russian military aggression, were overhauled and put into operation – on the highways Peremoha – Baryshivka and Korniivka – Nedra – Zhurivka – Berezan. The repair of the bridge on the Vorzel-Zabuchchya road through Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka is also being completed. As reported by the RMA, a total of 21 cities on public highways of local importance were damaged as a result of hostilities in the region.

The regional employment center reports that 1.8 K internally displaced people were employed in Kyiv oblast in 2023. 137 IDPs received study vouchers, 724 were involved in socially useful works under the Reconstruction Army project, and 68 received a micro-grant for the creation or development of their own business.

Kyiv RMA reports that capital repair of a 70-apartment residential building on Nove Shosse Street in Bucha at the expense of the Fund for Liquidating of Armed Aggression  Consequences is underway. The building was significantly damaged – windows were broken, the roof and floor coverings destroyed, and engineering networks damaged.

The Doves of Peace charity fund launched a free taxi for severely wounded veterans in Kyiv. Taxis can be used by veterans who cannot get around on their own, as well as those who can get around but need more time, extra effort or assistance to do so. For the transportation of veterans, the fund purchased a minibus equipped with a special lift to ensure easy boarding and disembarking, has special seats, fixation systems and individual climate control.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia reported that at the end of January, Georgia will host a photo exhibition Military Kyiv, which tells about the heroic defense of the capital of Ukraine in February-March 2022, the life of brave Kyiv residents during the full-scale war and the consequences of terrible air attacks. On January 18, the exhibition will be opened with a press conference and a round table at the Ukrainian House in Tbilisi.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr City Council reported that quadrocopters and other equipment worth over UAH 1 million, purchased with budget funds, were handed over to military personnel from the city. In particular, a DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopter and a communication amplification kit were handed over to the soldiers of the 37th Separate Marine Brigade, three DJI Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters and three DJI Mavic 3 Thermal to the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade.

A short-term program of multi-purpose cash assistance to families with children, including families of internally displaced persons, will be launched in Zhytomyr oblast. It is being implemented by the Lumos Foundation Charitable Fund together with the All-Ukrainian NGO “Ukraine without Orphans” with the financial support of the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine.

Olevsk City Council reported that a charity fair was held in the city during the Christmas Star competition-festival, at which more than UAH 65K  was collected for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reports that on January 8, the russian military carried out 18 attacks on the border territories of Sumy oblast, namely 61 mortar, artillery and FPV drone strikes. Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhine, Esman and Seredina-Buda communities came under shelling.

At night, the russian occupiers carried out 5 shelling attacks on the border areas of Khotyn, Shalyhine, Znob-Novhorodske and Esman communities with 4 artillery and 20 mortar hits.

Sumy RMA reports that since January 5, Invincibility Centres of the oblast have been working around the clock. There are 530 centres in the oblast. In case of need or emergencies, residents of Sumy oblast will be able to warm up, drink hot tea, use the Internet and charge mobile phones there.

Sumy RMA reports that 1,347 residents of the oblast have received compensation for their homes damaged by hostilities. Within the first stage of the Restoration program, a total of 1,874 applications were submitted, positive decisions regarding compensation received by 1,371 residents of the oblast for a total amount of over UAH 131 million.

Chernihiv oblast

The SBGS reported that over the past day, russian troops struck 12 hits on three communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi territorial community – 6 hits from a mortar in the area of Hremшach, Semenivka community – 2 shots from the barrel artillery near  Zarichchia, and Snovsk community – 4 mortar hits near Kliusy.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv regional military administration, said that over the past week, the russians shelled 13 border settlements of the oblast 29 times (112 explosions). The enemy uses barrel artillery, mortars, and VOG grenades from UAVs.

The Ministry of Health reported that Mena outpatient clinic, which will be able to serve almost 30 thousand patients, is being restored in Chernihiv oblast. In the dispensary, damaged windows and doors were replaced with energy-saving ones, and current repairs were carried out. The reconstruction of the outpatient clinic is part of the Open Grant Program of the USAID project “Supporting Health Care Reform”, thanks to which Chernihiv maternity hospital, which was hit by a russian bomb, has already been restored.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

At night the occupiers shelled Marhanets community, Nikopol region with artillery. The shelling damaged 5 high-rise buildings and 2 cars. There were no casualties.

During the day the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 12 times. They used kamikaze drones and fired from artillery. They shelled Nikopol itself, Marhanets and Myrove communities. Six private houses, an outbuilding, power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged. There were no casualties.

Vinnytsia oblast

The interactive board Candle of Memory was installed in Vinnytsia Lyceum No. 20. It displays photos and information about the fallen Heroes who had graduated from the lyceum. Among them are Volodymyr Mandybura, Serhii Samofal, Ivan Kovalchuk, Serhii Porokhnytsky and Ihor Nesterovych.

The City Council reported that Vinnytsia oblast sent 10 thermal imagers and 2K chemical heating pads to the front line.

Kirovohrad oblast

Two defenders from the oblast were killed: Yurii Yehorov from Sokolivka community and Yevhen Zhukov from Oleksandriia community. Yurii Yehorov was killed on January 2 as a result of mortar and artillery fire on a boat evacuating the wounded from Krynky village, Kherson region. He was 27 years old.

Yevhen Zhukov, a resident of Oleksandriia, was killed on January 6 as a result of artillery shelling near Zaporizhzhia. The 33-year-old soldier was mobilized to the Armed Forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Poltava oblast

Volodymyr Nesterenko, Head of the community, says that in the village of Sary, Hadiach community, the houses damaged by a piece of a russian UAV in December 2023 were repaired. Some of them had their broken windows installed. Experts are examining the house that was most damaged to assess its possibility to be restored. They collect photographs, examine all structures, roofs, floors, walls, foundations, windows and doors, and communications. The amount of compensation for the family will depend on the experts’ conclusion, which is due by the end of the week. 

Cherkasy oblast

In Monastyryshchyna, the family of the fallen defender Mykola Mudrakov was presented with a posthumous Order of the Warrior “For Courage” according to a decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The deceased soldier served as a rifleman and medic. On January 9, 2023, near the village of Soledar, Donetsk oblast, he was killed during another russian tank attack. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Zaporizhzhia RMA reported that on January 8, the russian military shelled 13 residential areas, conducting a total of 39 artillery strikes in Huliaipole, Robotyne, Levadne, Charivne, Chervone, Bilohiria, Kamianske, Piatykhatky, Novodarivka, and Mala Tokmachka. As a result of the attack, five people sustained injuries.

Occupiers in the occupied territories are refusing medical care to Ukrainian citizens without medical insurance, which can only be obtained with a russian passport. In Melitopol, medical assistance was declined to a pregnant woman without a russian passport. Due to the absence of proper assistance amidst continuous stress, she prematurely delivered a stillborn child a month prior to her due date.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMA reported that on January 8 and 9, russian forces conducted artillery shelling on Ochakiv and settlements of Kutsurub community in Mykolaiv oblast. No casualties were reported.

Mykolaiv received humanitarian assistance from the French association Narbonne-Ukraine. This assistance encompasses toys, sweets, clothing, medicines, etc. These provisions are intended to support hospitals, children, residents facing adverse living conditions, and internally displaced persons. Notably, the association maintains a partnership with Mykolaiv, marked by a formal Memorandum of cooperation.

Odesa oblast

The Ministry of Energy reported that on January 8, a wind turbine collapsed in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa oblast, not due to a wind gust but because of debris from a drone. No casualties were reported. The 5.5 MW wind turbine, which belongs to the British company Elementum Energy is irreparable.

Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, reported that the Grain navigational corridor remains operational, thanks to the security measures implemented by the Defense Forces. Despite this, ongoing threats persist, particularly regarding missile and mine dangers. These threats are exacerbated during stormy weather and worsening conditions, potentially causing mines to dislodge, redeploy, and drift.

Kherson oblast

On January 9, the russian military launched attacks on Kherson, resulting in explosions across different parts of the city. A medical facility building sustained damage, without any casualties reported.

Additionally, the russian military targeted one of the settlements in Bilozirka community of Kherson oblast. As a result, a couple was injured and received necessary medical aid.

The Southern Defense Forces reported that in Kherson, the Air Defense Missile Brigade successfully eliminated two russian reconnaissance UAVs, specifically Merlin-VR and Supercam.

On January 8, Kherson oblast experienced 41 shelling attacks, primarily aimed at residential neighbourhoods. There were no reported casualties.

The Southern Defense Forces reported that Ukrainian forces hit russian positions, rear areas, and military locations, eliminating two tanks, two armoured vehicles, and 14 russian military personnel.

Due to the russian shelling on January 8, Shumenskyi micro-district of Kherson encountered damage to 13 garages and communication infrastructure. The communication cable within the garage cooperative area was damaged.

The National Resistance Center revealed that at Oleshky boarding school in temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast, Ukrainian children are being coerced into composing gratitude letters to russian soldiers in exchange for gifts. The Center believes these actions are part of a larger policy intending to manipulate the self-identification of Ukrainian children, which aligns with what is considered a potential sign of genocide.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that they sent 5 DJI Mavic 3E quadcopters and 3 DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters to the A4007 military unit.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that 7 communities in Zakarpattia received new school buses. These are educational centres in communities where transport was seized for the needs of the Armed Forces under mobilization orders.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

An Autel EVO Max 4T drone and batteries were sent to the 52nd separate rifle battalion thanks to the funds from the city budget of Ivano-Frankivsk.

30 beds have been deployed at Kolomyia Central District Hospital to provide comprehensive rehabilitation of the military and civilians. Rehabilitation services will be provided by over 20 medics, including 3 medics of physical and rehabilitation medicine and 5 ergo- and physical therapists. A speech and language therapist will also work in the department. Since the beginning of the year, over 300 people, including 157 servicemen, have been rehabilitated in Kolomyia hospital.

Lviv oblast

During the celebration of the Epiphany, residents of Lviv oblast raised over UAH 265K for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A Christmas event in Strii region raised almost UAH 30K for a fellow villager who defends the state. Residents of Yavoriv region spent UAH 116K on drones for defenders. In addition, UAH 41K was raised during the charity caroling in the village of Myshlyatichi of Shehiniv community. In the village of Zolotkovichi, people raised over UAH 26K. The Sambirchany band and the Call of the Soul choir of the Procathedral Cathedral of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God donated UAH 16,7K to the army. Another UAH 40K was raised by the Life in Dance folk amateur choreographic group of Zhovtanets community. The benefactors will donate all funds to buy drones and equipment for the military.

Krasnensk Town Council sent batteries and spare parts for pickups and vans of the Armed Forces that were damaged or that need to be brought to a proper state, worth UAH 200K to the 420th Rifle Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Ivasiv from Dobromyl, Sambir region, received the “Military Cross of Honor” award. This is a high award for well-considered decisions and exceptional courage on the battlefield. The hero has been defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces since 2016.

Rostyslav Rudenko from Solonka posthumously received the Golden Cross from Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is a high award for the defense of the country during the russian invasion.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that during 2023, Rivne oblast held 68 meetings with representatives of regions of foreign countries, diplomatic institutions and international organizations, namely the UN, NATO, and USAID. Delegations from Austria, Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania, the USA, Poland and the Czech Republic visited Rivne oblast on working and official visits.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil RMA, communities and the Victory Wheels CF sent 6 pickup trucks, generators of the anti-aircraft machine gun battalion, which protects the oblast from enemy drones. The anti-aircraft machine gun battalion was formed to protect the airspace of Ternopil oblast. It is equipped with vehicles for combat missions with all the necessary equipment: turrets, large-calibre machine guns, means of autonomous communication, surveillance, early detection of targets and other special equipment.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Until 5:42 a.m., the search for the third person who was killed as a result of yesterday’s enemy attack continued. He is a man born in 1955. Dismantling of the object’s structures and liquidation of the consequences of the missile strike is over. As a result of the terrorist attack, 3 people were killed (men born in 1947, 1964, 1955) and another 2 injured.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi RMA and the Community of Bukovyna public organization concluded a memorandum on interaction and cooperation. They agreed to make joint efforts and monitor the proper use of funds allocated from the fund for liquidating armed aggression consequences, as well as in identify potential and real informational threats to national security and defense.

Defenders from Velikokuchuriv community received high state awards. According to the Presidential Decree, Serhii Melnychuk was awarded with the “For the Defense of Ukraine” award. According to the Order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Andrii Nikulyak was awarded with the Golden Cross badge of honour.

Kaia Kallas, Estonia’s Prime Minister, announced that in the next four years, the country will continue to provide military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 0.25% of its GDP. “If each country contributes 0.25%, this is what Ukraine needs to win this war,” she said. Callas called on countries in Europe, North America and other countries to follow this example.

Sweden will transfer about $5 mln to the NATO fund for assistance to Ukraine. The funds will be used to purchase defense equipment, fuel, medicines and demining equipment.

The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development reported that the country will send 2 armoured medical vehicles to Ukraine. “Spain’s humanitarian aid to Ukraine over the past two years has exceeded €466 mln, which is the largest emergency response measure for one country,” said the AECID.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Emir of Qatar. They discussed the continuation of work on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the organization of the future Global Peace Summit.

The fifth meeting of the International Working Group on the Environmental Consequences of War was held under the co-chairing of Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Margot Wallstrom, former Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, held the second meeting of Working Group #9, which implements the ninth point of the Ukrainian Peace Formula – Preventing the escalation of war and repetition of aggression. Participants discussed priorities for further work, individual organizational issues and expectations from the upcoming meeting of national security advisors and diplomatic advisors of state leaders in Davos.

The first meeting of the Bring Kids Back UA International Expert Group was held in the video conference format with the participation of Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The group will focus on developing expert opinions and recommendations to propose practical steps and mechanisms for the return of Ukrainian children.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Celso Amorim, Chief Adviser to the President of Brazil. They discussed preparations for the next meeting of national security advisers and political advisers of country leaders regarding the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, which will be held in Davos.

In Warsaw, a reminder rally was held near the EU representation that Ukraine desperately needs weapons. “Weapons for Ukraine,” chanted the participants of the rally. Despite the 12-degree frost, 2,5K people gathered here to remind the world about the war in Ukraine and the great need for weapons.
