It has been the 812th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:   

The enemy continues to attack along almost the entire frontline, focusing its main efforts towards Pokrovsk and Kupiansk. The defence forces are responding flexibly to the invaders’ actions and are taking the necessary measures to reduce the offensive potential of the russian troops.

Towards Kharkiv, the intensity of hostilities has increased. As of today, our soldiers have already repelled 10 attacks near Slobozhanske, Vovchansk, Starytsia and Lyptsi. The situation has been partially stabilised and the north-western outskirts of Vovchansk are being cleared. Since the beginning of the day, the invaders have lost about 60 people and 19 pieces of weapons and military equipment. Also, 11 enemy shelters were destroyed.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 28 combat engagements, specifically near Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, Ivanivka and Tverdokhlibove. Data on the aggressor’s losses are being updated.

Towards Lyman, the invaders tried twice unsuccessfully to improve the tactical situation near Novosadove and Torske. They launched 3 airstrikes near Lyman.

Towards Siversk, russian troops launched 7 attacks in Mykolaivka – Spirne, Berestove – Spirne, Yakovlivka – Rozdolivka, Soledar – Rozdolivka, Zolotarivka – Verkhnokamianske.

Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy attacked our positions 9 times.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy does not reduce the intensity of attacks. The invaders made a total of 31 attacks here today. Most of them were near Novooleksandrivka and Netailove. Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to prevent the enemy’s advance.

Towards Kurakhove, the Defence Forces successfully repelled 7 enemy attacks.

Towards Vremivka, the enemy tried to push our defenders near Urozhaine, but suffered losses and retreated.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy continued to put pressure near Staromaiorske, making 22 attempts to assault and launched an airstrike near Robotyne. Ukrainian troops are holding defensive lines and positions.

Towards Prydniprovskyi, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defenders 5 times near Krynky, without success.

In other areas, the situation did not change significantly.

Over the day, missile units of the Defence Forces struck a command post, an ammunition depot, 13 areas of personnel concentration and other important enemy targets.

Our aviation unit launched 2 strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems and 22 areas of concentration of enemy personnel.

Ukrainian defenders continue to bravely hold back the enemy and inflict maximum losses on them.


Serhii Nykyforov, Press Secretary of the President, reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has cancelled his visit to Portugal and Spain scheduled for this week due to the difficult situation at the frontline. 

Petro Yatsenko, representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, informed that a third of the exchanged Ukrainian prisoners of war were considered missing. By 24 February 2022, about 300 prisoners of war and missing people had been officially registered. Since the establishment of the Coordination Centre in March 2022, 51 prisoner exchanges have been organised. A total of 3,135 people, including 147 civilians, have been released from russian captivity. 

The Ministry of Reintegration stated that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a procedure for identifying and returning children deported to russia. Specifically, it refers to children deprived of parental care, orphans and children who may be deported or relocated. It is emphasised that the child’s legal representatives and other authorised bodies should develop an individual return plan that takes into account the child’s personal needs. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in eastern Ukraine, the russian army has attacked 23 times since the beginning of the day, 19 attacks are still ongoing towards Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Lyman, Siversk, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove and Vremivka. In some areas, the Defence Forces are improving their tactical position and are having success.

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff said that towards Kharkiv, russians are trying to gain a foothold on the line they have reached and regroup. Ukrainian units are using reconnaissance means to identify separate groups of russian troops, places of deployment of its artillery, and inflict fire damage to prevent the accumulation of forces and equipment in the northern part of Vovchansk. Ukrainian units continue to search the urban area of Vovchansk. The places of concentration of manpower and equipment of the russian invaders and possible places of equipment of their positions are under fire control of Ukrainian artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the russian offensive in Kharkiv axis on 10 May 2024, the losses in manpower of the russian invaders amounted to 615 killed and injured, 98 pieces of weapons and military equipment were destroyed or damaged.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening speech that towards Kupiansk, there were 28 combat engagements, specifically in Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, Ivanivka and Tverdokhlibove. The Defence Forces managed to partially stabilise the situation in the north of Kharkiv oblast during the day.

A 5-storey building was damaged as a result of shelling in Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. Two civilian men aged 40 and 20 were injured and hospitalised. A dormitory was hit in Kharkiv.

Tamaz Hambarashvili, Head of Vovchansk CMA, reported that the geography of the fighting has not changed, up to 300 people remain in Vovchansk as of 15 May. He noted that russians are not giving up their attempts to capture the city and the Armed Forces are meeting them on the outskirts of Vovchansk.

The press service of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a 33-year-old woman was injured as a result of a russian FPV drone strike in downtown Kupiansk. According to the press service, the russian drone struck at 7:30am when the woman was walking down the street.

Mykola Sikalenko, Head of Tsyrkuny Village Military Administration, informed that russians attacked the community after 1pm, a hit was recorded between Tsyrkuny and Cherkasy Tyshky.

Kharkiv police confirmed that a 26-year-old man was injured as a result of a russian UAV attack on Prudianka.

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that a 68-year-old woman was injured as a result of shelling of Kolisnykivka in Kupiansk region at around 5:30pm.

Village Head Oleksandr Hololobov said that around 10am, russians hit Mala Danylivka community with a bomb. According to him, the attack hit a residential neighbourhood, damaging a hospital and two cars standing next to the building. According to the prosecutor’s office, three women and a man were injured. Investigators found that a dormitory, an outpatient clinic and residential buildings were damaged in the village. For the second time since 15 May, russians also attacked Mala Danylivka with air strikes, hitting a cemetery and a park. According to him, russia had previously struck with three aerial bombs and no one was injured.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, stated that the russian federation shelled Oleksandrivka with artillery at around 2:20pm. According to him, the shelling damaged two two-storey apartment buildings, outbuildings, three sheds, two cars, and power lines. A shop was destroyed by a direct hit. No one was injured.

Volodymyr Tymoshko, head of Kharkiv police, reported that police received 179 applications from those wishing to evacuate from Vovchansk community overnight, from about 7pm to 6am. According to him, this is due to massive shelling.

The press service of the regional administration reported that two people, who were injured yesterday as a result of russian strikes on Kharkiv, remain in hospital. An 8-year-old girl is in stable condition in the hospital and a 47-year-old man underwent surgery. Yaryna Vintoniuk, the Kharkiv Animal Rescue organisation’s communications officer, said that about 330 animals were evacuated from the north of the oblast in four days by representatives of the organisation.

The day before, at 6:33am, 4:20pm, 6:00pm, 8:15pm, 9:15pm, 9:45pm, Kharkiv was shelled. As a result of a series of attacks with various types of weapons in three districts of the city, specifically S-300, UAVs, UMBP D-30, private and apartment buildings, an educational institution, and civilian cars were damaged. 22 people were injured during the day.

At 5pm, a house burned down as a result of shelling of the village of Slobozhanske.

At 2:05 and 3:50pm, two people were injured as a result of shelling of Vovchansk.

At 1pm, 4 private houses were damaged in Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, as a result of an attack from MRLs.

At 11:55am, a 79-year-old woman was killed in the shelling of Vovchansk.

At 11:45am, a private house and outbuildings were damaged in Lyman village of Vovchansk community with the house catching fire.

At 11:30am, a private house was damaged in Borova village of Borova community, Izium region, as a result of shelling from MRLs.

On 14 May at 10:25am, a private house caught on fire as a result of shelling of Vovchansk.

Towards Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repelled 11 enemy attacks, specifically in Hlyboke – Lyptsi, Lukianske – Lyptsi, Borysivka – Neskuchne, Shebekino (russian federation) – Vovchansk, and three combat engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy made 16 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Lyman Pershyi – Synkivka, Vilshanka – Synkivka, Vilshanka – Petropavlivka, Kyslivka – Ivanivka, Krokhmalne – Berestove, Kolomyichykha – Stelmakhivka, Kolomyichykha – Miasozharivka, Kovalivka – Novoiehorivka, Ploshchanka – Makiivka. The fighting continues but the enemy is not successful.

So far, 2202 residents have been evacuated from Chuhuiv region, 3533 from Kharkiv region, 79 from Bohodukhiv region and 2177 people have been evacuated by volunteers. In total, 7991 people have been evacuated.

Donetsk oblast

The State Emergency Service reported a fire and rescue unit in Mykolaivka was damaged by a russian strike. According to the organisation, the personnel and equipment were not damaged.

The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of May 15 is as follows:

There were no reports of casualties over the day.

Towards Pokrovsk, Paraskoviivka, Kostiantynivka and Yelyzavetivka in Marinka community were shelled. 3 houses were damaged in Veselyi Hai of Kurakhove community. An outbuilding was damaged in Ivanivka of Hrodivka community.

Towards Kramatorsk, Torske, Terny, Yampolivka, Zarichne, Ivanivka and Yampil of Lyman community were shelled. 3 houses and an administrative building were damaged in Mykolaivka. 4 objects were damaged in Stara Mykolaivka of Illinivka community.

Towards Bakhmut, 10 private houses and an apartment building were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. A non-residential building was damaged in Siversk.

In total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 9 times over the day. 336 people, including 57 children, were evacuated from the front line.

Luhansk oblast

Nevske and Kuzemivka were under enemy attack. The villages were hit by mortars, artillery and multiple rocket launchers. Specifically, three households were hit in Nevske. All three houses were damaged to varying degrees.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched 16 attacks on the positions of our troops, especially at Kolomyichykha – Stelmakhivka, Kolomyichykha – Miasozharivka, Kovalivka – Novoiehorivka, Ploshchanka – Makiivka. The invaders were not successful.

Towards Lyman, two russian attacks were repelled in Chervonopopivka – Ivanivka and Zhytlivka – Terny. Ukrainian positions were not lost.

Towards Siversk, the invaders tried to attack from Zolotarivka.

It should be noted that in some areas our defenders have regained their previously lost positions and improved their tactical position. In addition, due to active offensive actions and the growth of its own losses, the enemy began to increase the number of morgues in the occupied territories.

The National Resistance Centre said that additional places are being established to store the corpses of russian soldiers in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk oblast. The morgues are being deployed in premises that are not suitable for this purpose.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Emergency power cuts were implemented in Kyiv and oblast for households and industrial consumers. The measures were imposed by NPC Ukrenerho due to the electricity shortage caused by the large-scale damage to Ukrainian power plants as well as increased electricity consumption during the cold spell.

The Mobile Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that in Kyiv oblast, sappers retrieved two fuses for shells left over after the russian invasion in Vyshhorod region in one of the water reservoirs. The explosive devices were found by the underwater demining team working near Huta-Mezhyhirska village during Irpin River inspection.

The second phase of ‘Hansen’s Miracle Town’, a housing project for senior IDPs, will be built in Kolonshchyna village, Kyiv oblast. By the words of Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, up to 200 people will be able to move into the new homes soon. The first phase was opened last autumn. The complex is home to 105 families – 160 people aged 65 to 100 from Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts.

According to Kyiv City State Administration, Kyiv was the first city in Ukraine to launch the Defenders’ Portal service. The innovative service should simplify many processes for Kyiv defenders, as well as their families and the families of the deceased. The main goal of the service is to make interaction with municipal institutions as efficient and effective as possible. Currently, the portal offers more than 40 social, medical, educational and other services.

Irpin Museum of History and Local Lore has opened an exhibition of artefacts of electricity equipment that was destroyed as a result of russia’s full-scale invasion. The exhibition features war artefacts, equipment used by specialists in the course of work, and a photo exhibition of energy restoration works in Kyiv oblast.

A generator was installed in Horenka village kindergarten, Hostomel community. It will meet the institution’s electricity needs in case of power outages. According to Hostomel settlement military administration, the generator was purchased under a memorandum of cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross. 

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr RMA reported that Zhytomyr oblast residents who lost their homes as a result of shelling by russian troops have already purchased real estate worth more than UAH 47m. So far, 31 residential properties in different communities have been purchased with the help of electronic certificates.

Liudmyla Mala, Head of Ushomyr community, informed that a memorial to the fallen heroes had been opened in the village of Ushomyr. As of today, Ushomyr community has lost 35 soldiers in the current russian-Ukrainian war. The memorial sign was built at the expense of the local budget.

Recently, Horodok community hosted the Troop of Military Writers in the No Limits space. This was the main location of the All-Ukrainian Forum of Military Writers, which hosted an atmospheric event with a screening of spectacular trailers and discussions on important topics about war and Heroes, historical figures and the mission of cinema.

Sumy oblast

A 60-year-old woman was killed in Esman community during an artillery shelling. According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Sumy oblast, from 9am for an hour, the russian aggressors were shelling the community. At least 4 private houses were damaged.

At night and in the morning, russians attacked Sumy oblast border areas and settlements of 24 times. A total of 165 attacks from various types of weapons were recorded. Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Druzhbivka, Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled.

Yesterday the russian military attacked Sumy oblast 48 times, with a total of 237 explosions recorded. 13 communities were shelled: Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Richky, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Druzhbivka, Seredyna-Buda, Znob-Novhorodske.

According to Sumy RMA report, the community was shelled with MLRS (7 explosions) and cannon artillery (17 explosions). A local resident of Druzhbivka community was injured on 14 May as a result of attack.

Based on regional police reports, a multi-apartment residential building, thirteen private houses, four summer kitchens, two outbuildings, a gas pipeline, and a private car were damaged on 14 May as a result of russian aggression in Sumy oblast. 

The spokesperson for Siversk operational and tactical grouping of troops, Vadym Mysnyk, informed that current numbers of russian troops on the border are insufficient to attack Sumy oblast as for now. According to him, there is a certain amassing of enemy forces on the border, but no critical grouping has been created to launch a large-scale offensive.

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of Sumy RMA, announced that 30 residents, including 6 children, were evacuated from Bilopillia community in Sumy oblast on 14 May. The people were accommodated in Sumy, in comfortable conditions, registered to receive appropriate payments, and offered places to settle. Evacuation activities are being carried out with the participation of employees of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, volunteer organisations and government officials.

The Service for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure in Sumy oblast reported that Trostianets City Hospital is being restored in Sumy oblast. This includes a polyclinic building, an inpatient building and a children’s department building. The full reconstruction of the hospital is scheduled to complete by August 2024. 

5 mobile shelters were brought to Sumy by representatives of the “Yunist 2.0” charity foundation from Odesa. The shelters were set up in crowded areas designated by Sumy City Council. These are anti-shrapnel shelters designed for 10-15 people and can withstand an explosive load of 10 tonnes. The manufacturer is an Odesa-based company. The shelters were paid for by a charitable foundation and businesses. 

Chernihiv oblast

The State Emergency Service reported 53 explosions in the Chernihiv oblast over the past day. The enemy attacked the Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnia communities with mortar shelling and FPV drones.

On 14 May, a resident, born in 1963, was killed as a result of shelling by the russian military in one of the settlements of Novhorod-Siverskyi community. During the shelling, he was on the outskirts and received numerous injuries incompatible with life.

In Chernihiv oblast, the first and second stages of the emergency power outage schedules were applied, as well as a special schedule of emergency power outages for household consumers. As of 10:04pm, on 14 May, more than 128,000 residents were left without an electricity supply.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Late in the evening, the occupiers launched a kamikaze drone at Nikopol. There were no casualties. 

An enemy missile was shot down in Dniprovskyi district. The attack damaged infrastructure and caused casualties.

During the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol 9 times. They launched 4 kamikaze drones and about two and a half dozen artillery shells. Nikopol, Chervonohryhorivka, Myrove and Marhanets communities were hit. The shelling set a private house on fire, damaged a health centre, 4 houses, a truck, a minibus, a gas pipeline and a power line.

According to the updated data, men aged 48 and 51 died as a result of an enemy attack in Dniprovskyi district. The victim is 63 years old. He will be treated on an outpatient basis. The attack damaged an infrastructure facility, an administrative building, an animal shelter, five- and two-story buildings. Six private houses, two outbuildings, a car, and a power line were damaged. There were several fires that were quickly extinguished.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that ​​Vinnytsia oblast has delivered aid to 7 military units defending the country in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson: 420 FPV drones, 21 Mavic 3T, 4 thermal imagers and a car. 

Oleksandr Beliaev, a defender from Vinnytsia oblast, was awarded the Iron Cross medal. The man has been serving with the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk since August 2022.

Soldiers from Vinnytsia oblast, Oleksandr Mykulets and Andrii Kravchuk were posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, III class. The RMA reported that the awards were handed over to the families of the fallen soldiers.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raykovych, Head of the RMA, reported that russian tactical aircraft launched a missile attack in the direction of Kirovohrad oblast yesterday, probably with an X-59 cruise missile. There were no casualties or injuries. 

Kirovohrad oblast lost three soldiers in the war with russia – Oleksandr Ulianich, Dmytro Orlyk and Volodymyr Makarenko. It hit Znamianka and Oleksandrivka communities. 

The 46-year-old Oleksandr Ulianich was killed on 6 May, 2024, while performing a combat mission. The soldier had the status of a combatant and was awarded the War Veteran medal. 

The 37-year-old senior soldier Dmytro Orlyk was killed on 11 May from gunshot wounds near Chasiv Yar, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.

Since 2 December, 2022, Volodymyr Makarenko has been missing in action while performing a combat mission in Bakhmut. On 10 May, 2024, the soldier’s daughter received DNA matching results.

In Kropyvnytskyi, a charity photo shoot in Ukrainian folk costumes was organized for the families of the fallen soldiers. 11 families became models. The initiative of the Mriia Charitable Foundation. He helps oblast residents whose relatives were killed at the front or are in captivity.

Poltava oblast

Poltava oblast will say farewell to the soldiers who died in the war with russia, Serhii Koval and Volodymyr Pazenko. Serhii Koval died in Hadiach city hospital as a result of a gunshot shrapnel wound he received at the front line.

Volodymyr Pazenko was killed on 11 May during a mortar attack near the village of Vasiukivka, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, announced that assistance to the military from the socially responsible business of Cherkasy oblast, the Help and Hope Foundation, and football player Artem Dovbyk. This time, for the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade and 118th Separate Tank Battalion, an anti-aircraft machine gun battalion and the Starlink system. 

Cherkasy Specialized School №20 held a charity concert. The event raised UAH 50,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On 15 May, at 3:45pm, the russian army shelled the frontline village of Stepnohirsk. As a result of the enemy’s attack, the administrative building was destroyed and 3 people injured.

Yesterday the occupiers struck Zaporizhzhia oblast 268 times. Six settlements were under enemy attack. 94 UAVs attacked Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 10 MLRS attacks targeted Malynivka, Levadne and Robotyne. There were 164 artillery strikes on the territory of Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Levadne and Malynivka. Six reports of housing destruction were received. Civilians were unharmed.

There have been 4 clashes towards Robotyne since the beginning of the day. There have been no changes in the position of our troops, and the situation is under control.

Fighters of the 6th detachment of the Omeha Special Operations Centre discovered a camouflaged position of a 120mm 2B11 mortar with ammunition in the forest belt. The russians planned to use it to cover their assault operations. UAV pilots accurately targeted the enemy position and destroyed it.

Mykolaiv oblast

On 15 May, at 11:36am, explosions were heard in Mykolaiv. The Regional Military Administration reports two hits at the regional centre. Dmytro Pletenchuk, Head of the Strategic Communications Center of the Southern Defense Forces, noted that the russians launched a missile strike on one of the private enterprises. Currently, six people are known to be injured. Additionally, russian forces targeted the industrial zone, resulting in a fire at the service station. The building and vehicles caught on fire.

Yesterday, on 14 May, the enemy shelled the waters of Ochakiv community with artillery. There were no casualties.

3608 residents of Mykolaiv oblast received compensation for damaged property under the eRestoration program, totaling more than UAH 305.7m. Another 33 owners received a second payment totaling more than UAH 3.527m. Thanks to these payments, citizens will be able to repair their homes damaged by russian shelling.

Odesa oblast

There are no enemy fleet ships in the Black and Azov Seas. Missile carriers are stationed at their bases.

Odesa Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital received another package of assistance to meet the urgent needs of the population in the healthcare sector from the Lodz Voivodeship of the Republic of Poland. Advanced lifting medical equipment, ultrasound machines, and numerous dressing kits were received.

Kherson oblast

Today, russian forces attacked Kherson downtown with aviation. Residential buildings and an educational institution were damaged by enemy fire. Currently, seven casualties are known, including one child. Medical personnel are conducting examinations and providing necessary assistance to the injured.

Yesterday the enemy attacked Kherson, Antonivka, Mykhailivka and Novooleksandrivka. A private house and a warehouse were damaged. One person was killed and another injured due to russian aggression.

It is reported that the enemy attempted 5 unsuccessful assaults on the left bank of the temporarily occupied part of the Dnipro River in Kherson oblast. After suffering losses, they retreated to their original positions.

Southern defense forces continue to inflict fire damage on enemy deployment areas, firing positions, and rear areas. Confirmed enemy losses amounted to 91 personnel and 17 units of weaponry and military equipment. Four observation posts and six dugouts were destroyed.

Nine pyrotechnicians from Vinnytsia are assisting in demining Kherson oblast. Currently, the main task of specialists is to help restore infrastructure in liberated areas. Almost every meter of liberated land has to be demined before restoration works. Overall, sappers have examined over 281,000 hectares of land in the de-occupied Kherson oblast, where they found and neutralised 173,500 explosive objects.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent 2 DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters, 2 DJI Mavic 3E, a Hikmicro panther PQ50L thermal sight and 2 Alientech duo II antenna signal amplifiers to the Anti-Aircraft Missile Artillery Battery of the 42nd Separate Mechanised Brigade to Kharkiv oblast.

Zakarpattia oblast

In Uzhhorod, the state-wide cycling race Honouring the Memory of the Defenders of Ukraine started. The event is held annually in order to honour the memory of fallen Heroes of Ukraine who participated in the struggle to defend the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. The bike ride will last 9 days and will end on the Day of Heroes of Ukraine (23 May), near the Wall of Memory of those who were killed for Ukraine in Kyiv. This year, a team of veteran participants will cover over 1,000km.

The RMA reported that the Parliamentary-municipal forum Housing for IDP was launched in Uzhgorod, aimed at solving issues related to the return of Ukrainian families who were forced to leave their homes.

A meeting of the executive committee of the city council was held in Uzhhorod. At the meeting, they agreed on the Program for supporting combatants during inpatient treatment in the city’s medical facilities for 2025-2027. Resource provision of the Program is UAH 30m (UAH 10m each year).

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The oblast sent 20 DJI MAVIC 3T Thermal quadcopters worth over UAH 3,7m to the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis and the 50th Regiment named after Colonel Semion Vysochan thanks to the funds of the regional budget within the framework of two targeted programs of support for the military formations of Prykarpattia.

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council allocated UAH 60,000 from the budget to relatives of the fallen Heroes as assistance for erecting a monument. This time, such assistance was approved for 33 families. And from the beginning of the year for 63 families in the amount of UAH 3,13m.

Lviv oblast

Free swimming training for servicemen, war veterans and family members of fallen Defenders of Ukraine started in Lviv. Free running, boxing, judo, taekwondo and para-taekwondo, kickboxing and general adaptive training are taking place in Lviv as part of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Military Sports, War Veterans and Adaptive Sports.

A memorial plaque was installed in Pustomyt community in memory of Volodymyr Starkov, fallen defender. The opening took place with the participation of relatives of the fallen soldier. The Hero was killed on 2 March 2024, near Terna, Donetsk oblast.

Volunteers of Medical and Psychological Assistance received thanks from Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of Lviv oblast. During 2 years of full-scale war, they meet people from frontline areas and provide them with the necessary support in a timely manner – from informational to psychosocial support.

Rivne oblast

Radyvyliv community sent the MAN passenger bus to rescuers of Zaporizhzhia oblast. The transport belonged to the communal property of the community, so the decision to lease the property was made at the previous session. The bus will be used for humanitarian and evacuation missions.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council compensates the 1st contribution of up to 20% for housing within the yeOselia program to a defender from the community in the total amount of UAH 338,800. 8 defenders of Ternopil community have already received compensation.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

For 2023 and the beginning of 2024, Khmelnytskyi NPP received safety equipment worth over €65,000 from the International Atomic Energy Agency. In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, IAEA has provided Ukraine with power plant equipment worth over €8,5m.

Chernivtsi oblast

In the 1st quarter of 2024, Chahorsk community allocated over UAH 600,000 for the urgent needs of the military. Of these, UAH 400,000 was directed to the purchase of material and technical means for the A2195 Military Unit. And UAH 200,000 was allocated to purchase quadcopters for the A3113 Military Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Sebastien Lecornu, French Defense Minister, announced that his country will deliver missiles for SAMP/T air defence systems to Ukraine.

Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, announced that the country will give Ukraine an additional $2bn in military funding through a new defence industry fund. The fund was created for the purchase of weapons from other countries for Ukraine.

Evika Silinia, Prime Minister of Latvia, announced that the country allocated €10m for the purchase of artillery ammunition as part of the Czech initiative. With these funds, they plan to buy over 3,000 large-calibre 155-mm shells.

Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, stated that the country wants to conclude a 10-year security agreement with Ukraine. He added that the bilateral agreement with the US will also be aimed at strengthening the Ukrainian defence-industrial complex so that Ukraine can produce artillery shells, air defence equipment and other critical weapons.

A committee of the Spanish Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people. In addition to calling for the recognition of the Holodomor and public commemoration of its victims, the document suggests that the government continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine to protect its democracy and territorial integrity from the russian authoritarian regime.

The UN reported that in Ukraine, 40% of the population needs humanitarian aid as a result of the russian invasion.

Bridget Brink, US Ambassador to Ukraine, reported that Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, during his visit to Kyiv, met with representatives of the DEJURE Foundation and the Anti-Corruption Centre to discuss the fight against corruption in Ukraine.

The community of Ukrainian refugees Ukrainian European Front held a rally in support of Ukraine in Malmo, Sweden, where the Eurovision final was held. Activists posted leaflets with calls to provide Ukraine with modern weapons and air defence equipment.
