It has been the 709 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, he does not give up his plans for the full occupation of Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, strikes, attacks both military and civilian objects. The enemy actively uses aviation and quadrocopters of the “FPV” type, conducts assaults with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

55 combat clashes took place during the day. The enemy also carried out 50 airstrikes and 19 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are wounded among the civilian population. Residential private and multi-apartment buildings and other civil infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

On the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the border areas with Ukraine.

In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, attacks populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The occupiers launched an airstrike in the Vilkhuvatka district of the Kharkiv region. More than 30 settlements, including Senkivka, Progress, Zorya, Gremyach of Chernihiv region, were hit by artillery and mortar fire; Seredyna-Buda, Bachivsk, Iskryskivshchyna, Volodymyrivka, Grabovskoe, Popivka of the Sumy region; Udy, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha, Potikhonov, Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, our defenders repelled 4 attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka, Kharkiv region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops. The occupiers also carried out airstrikes in the areas of Ivanivka, Kislivka, and Tabaivka settlements of the Kharkiv region. About 15 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestovka of the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, our defenders repelled 3 attacks in the Terni region of the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our troops. The invaders shelled about 15 settlements with artillery and mortars, among them Nevske, Belogorivka of the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka of the Donetsk region.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repulsed 2 attacks near Bohdanivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, New York of the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiyivka direction, our defenders repelled 19 attacks near Avdiyvka and another 10 attacks near Pervomaiskyi and Nevelskyi in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our troops. The enemy also carried out airstrikes in the areas of Oleksandropil, Novokalynove, Ocheretine settlements of the Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements, including Berdychi, Stepove, Lastochkine, Avdiivka, and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Mariinsky direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the districts of Georgiyivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. Here, the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position 6 times. Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, Novomykhailivka, Kostyantynivka came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsky direction, our soldiers repelled the enemy’s attack south of the Golden Niva of the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Vugledar and Staromayorske settlements of the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements, including Vugledar, Urozhayne, Staromayorske, and Rivnopil of the Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks near Robotyny and to the west of Vervovoy in the Zaporizhia region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our troops. About 20 settlements, including Levadne, Gulyaipole, Charivne, Orihiv, Novoandriivka, Pyatikhatka of the Zaporizhia region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.

In the area of responsibility of the “Odesa” anti-aircraft missile defense system in the Kherson direction, the enemy does not give up its intention to knock out Ukrainian units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, during the day, 6 unsuccessful attempts to storm the positions of our troops were made. Kherson, Berislav, Ingulets of the Kherson region and Ochakiv of the Mykolaiv region came under artillery and mortar fire. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Kherson and Respublikanets settlements of the Kherson region.

During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces struck 10 areas where the enemy’s personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated.

Units of missile troops struck 3 enemy ammunition depots.

It was possible to return 4 more children who were abducted by Russia from the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. This was reported by the charitable organization Save Ukraine. This is the fund’s 15th rescue mission. In total, they managed to return 235 Ukrainian children from the occupation and the territory of Russia.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine began issuing women’s uniforms for the first time. The soldiers received sets of summer field suits, made taking into account female anthropometric parameters. The models were developed by the relevant unit of the Armed Forces together with public organizations and Ukrainian manufacturers. They underwent military research tests in one of the military units.

About 200 Ukrainian companies produce drones in Ukraine. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal. The year before last, there were only 7 such companies.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 36 russian attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Most of the fighting was towards Avdiivka.  Also russian army launched airstrikes on Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and 14 settlements in Donetsk oblast, including Avdiivka, Ocheretyne and Vuhledar.

Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of Khortytsia operational-strategic group, informed that towards Lyman-Kupiansk, 228 invaders were eliminated yesterday. 75 pieces of weapons and equipment were destroyed, including tanks, armoured personnel carriers, Murom-M video surveillance systems and field electronic warfare systems.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy has concentrated a powerful grouping of about 40,000 troops, more than 500 tanks, 650 armoured vehicles, 430 artillery systems and more than 150 multiple rocket launchers.

If we take into account Lyman direction, almost 57,000 invaders, half a thousand tanks, more than 1,100 armoured vehicles, 534 artillery systems and almost 200 MRLs are concentrated there.

Kharkiv oblast

Serhii Bolvinov, Head of Kharkiv Police Investigation Department, reported that drones twice struck the territory of a gas processing plant in Andriivtsi village, Izium region. According to preliminary information, there was no fuel leakage and no one was injured.

According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, about 17 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including: Udy, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha, Synkivka, Tabaivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, etc.

Kolodiazne, Synkivka and Pishchane villages were hit by airstrikes.

Around 2:30 am, a hostile UAV was spotted in Izium region. Preliminary, there were no casualties.

At 11 am as a result of hostile artillery shelling in Vovchansk

at least 4 private houses, outbuildings and garages were damaged.

At 12:55 pm, as a result of three MRLs strikes in Vilkhuvatka village, Kupiansk region, buildings and structures of an agricultural enterprise were destroyed, 9 private households and power lines damaged. There were no casualties.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 5 enemy attacks near Ivanivka.

Power engineers restored electricity supply to more than 1,600 consumers in Bohodukhiv region who were cut off as a result of hostile shelling. 64 settlements with 15,600 accounting points remain without power.  

Combined groups of bomb experts cleared 32.79 hectares of territory and destroyed 197 explosive ordnance.

Thanks to cooperation with international partners, 60% of heat supply facilities, almost 40% of heating networks and 22% of water supply and sewerage facilities have been restored in Kharkiv oblast.

Kharkiv Maternity Hospital No. 1 has reopened. The repair of the medical facility, which was damaged after an airstrike in March 2022, took more than five months. The International Organisation for Migration allocated funds for the reconstruction.

In January, it became known that 39 Ukrainian soldiers from Kharkiv oblast had been killed. The deaths were officially reported by communities or universities.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that russian army attacked civilian infrastructure 13 times. The invaders hit with guided aerial bombs, missiles, drones, Uragan MRLs, artillery and mortars. The enemy shelled 8 settlements: Avdiivka, Hirnyk, Myrnohrad cities, Velyka Novosilka, Tsukuryne settlements, Veselyi Hai, Netailove and Torske villages. 49 civilian objects were damaged, such as, 41 residential buildings, three educational institutions, a kindergarten, a shop, an enterprise, a garage and an outbuilding.

According to DOnetsk Regional Military Administration, towards Pokrovsk, a person was injured in Avdiivka. An administrative building was damaged in Selydove. In Kurakhove community, 12 two-storey buildings and 2 educational institutions in Hirnyk and 6 houses in Veseliy Hai were damaged.

Towards Kramatorsk, in Lyman community, an outpatient clinic in Zarichne was damaged and a house in Ivanivka destroyed. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka community were under attack.

Towards Bakhmut, 1 house was destroyed and another 1 damaged in Pereizne of Zvanivka community. Rozdolivka and Vasiukivka of Soledar community were shelled. 7 private houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community.

In total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 13 times. 58 people, including 4 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of Khortytsia unit, informed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to destroy 44 UAVs towards Bakhmut yesterday.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Bilohorivka suffered artillery and airstrikes yesterday. The enemy also attacked a little south of Nevske, specifically near Terny in Donetsk oblast.

In Nevske, two more houses were destroyed. These two private houses were destroyed during the January air strikes. Back then, russians destroyed about a dozen households in a few days. However, people still live there. Nevske is currently the most populated settlement in the de-occupied Luhansk oblast. Bread was also delivered there yesterday.

After the so-called ‘first elections’, ‘lpr’ repeatedly reported that they had fulfilled kremlin’s order to demobilise university students. However, only about half of the total number of young people involved in the front were allowed to leave. Then pressure began on students at Donbas State Technical University in Alchevsk, when young men were forced to take academic leave.  A similar situation has now been reported in Luhansk, where 250 students of Luhansk State University named after Volodymyr Dal have taken academic leave and gone to war.

The industrial group of russians that prepares rents for the most profitable mining complexes in the occupied Luhansk oblast for a small amount of money turned out to be a company with a registered capital of one thousand dollars. A new manager was appointed a few days before the contract was signed. This is yet another redistribution of spheres of influence with the permission of the occupation authorities.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

A new shelter is being built for schoolchildren of the “Success” lyceum in Uzyna. The work is carried out at the expense of the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. The new shelter will be dual-purpose with the protective properties of an anti-radiation shelter. The shelter is designed for the simultaneous stay of 500 people. In peacetime, the facility will be used for additional classes and after-school clubs.

Hlevakha settlement council reported that Canada will help in the inclusive, social and economic recovery of Kyiv oblast. In particular, four communities of the oblast were selected to participate in the project. As part of the “Community Leadership Inclusive Recovery” (CLIR) initiative, 19 territorial communities from 7 war-damaged regions of Ukraine will receive expert support.

The Department of Economy of the Kyiv oblast reports that according to the results of the regional business survey monitoring for November 2023, the enterprises of the oblast began to increase sales – their share increased from 23.8% to 42.3%. In cooperation with the Institute of Economic Research and Political Consultation (IED), the monthly study “Business during the war: Kyiv oblast” is ongoing. According to the survey, 77% of the region’s enterprises were working at almost full, full or even higher capacity compared to the pre-war period.

On January 28, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard held tactical medicine training for women in Kyiv. Attendees mastered skills according to the MARCH protocol: massive bleeding, airway patency, respiration (lungs), circulation (circulating blood volume in the body), head injury/hypothermia/hypovolemia. The women worked out the acquired knowledge and skills in practice.

Sofya Kameneva, director of the State Archive of the Kyiv oblast, informed that during russia’s military aggression, 13 archives were located in the zone of temporary occupation or active military operations. Almost 182,000 documents of the National Archive Fund and 81,000 documents on personnel issues were under threat of destruction in the Kyiv oblast. According to the results of the monitoring of the preservation of documents, no losses from the archives were recorded.

Fastiv city council informed that the city of and the German city of Meerbusch have become twinned. The twinning documents were signed on February 1. During the online ceremony, communities presented themselves and developed joint activities and projects.

In the summer, the capital will open a square named after Golda Meir – in honor of one of the founders of the state of Israel, who was born in Kyiv. As reported by the KCSA, this will be an inclusive space for rehabilitation, equipped at the expense of patrons.

Zhytomyr oblast

Training on countering sabotage and intelligence groups, in which various units of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine participated, took place in the north of Zhytomyr oblast. According to the commander of the United Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhii Naev, during the exercises, they practiced capturing positions and restoring lost positions in conditions as close as possible to combat conditions.

Vitaliy Bunechko, the Head of Zhytomyr RMA, announced that on February 2, scheduled operations of special services will continue in the oblast, accompanied by explosions.

The press service of the Zhytomyr City Council reported that on February 1, in the premises of the Zhytomyr City Council, the families of eight fallen soldiers who died fighting for Ukraine were awarded posthumous state awards: the “Bohdan Khmelnytskyi” and “For Courage” orders.

845,000 incandescent lamps were accepted for disposal in Zhytomyr oblast. The program of free exchange of old electric incandescent lamps for energy-saving LED lamps started in the oblast on January 18, 2023. In the territory of the oblast, there are 4 enterprises that recycle lamps.

Sumy oblast

 During the past day, the russians carried out 23 shellings of the border regions of Sumy oblast, a total of 107 explosions were recorded. Khotyn, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka communities were shelled. The enemy fired mortars and artillery, SPG, dropped explosive devices from UAVs, launched FPV drones.

Sumy RMA reported that at night, the russians carried out 4 shellings of the oblast – 30 artillery and MLRS strikes were recorded. The Khotyn and Krasnopillia communities came under shelling.

The postage stamp “Heroic professions. Ukrposhta is always by your side.” was canceled in Sumy oblast. The postage stamp is put into circulation on February 2 and is considered valid for payment.

In Sumy oblast, international organizations are planning to implement a powerful business support project worth 4.6 million dollars. This was discussed at a meeting between the head of the regional military administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, and representatives of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv border detachment reported that over the past day, russian troops fired mortars at the border of the oblast. The Semenivka community was under enemy shelling – 10 hits in the direction of Bleshnya and Snovsk hromada – 19 strikes in the vicinity of the village Klyus.

Chernihiv RMA reported that work on the restoration of the village of Yahidne in the oblast is ongoing – builders are repairing more than 20 houses, insulating facades and changing roofs. During the occupation and hostilities, more than 100 private houses and 17 apartment buildings were destroyed or damaged here. In 2023, Yahidne was included in the list of affected settlements that are being restored as part of an experimental project on comprehensive reconstruction.

Chernihiv RMA reported that 95 milk production farms of the oblast took advantage of the support from Switzerland and received a three months supply of disinfectants and veterinary drugs. In total, the humanitarian aid program was available to 10 regions, but it became the most popular in Chernihiv oblast.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that 3 enemy Shaheds were shot down at night over the region. They were destroyed in Kryvyi Rih region by the Air Command East. It is known that there were also hits which led to the blackout of more than 40,000 citizens. In particular, two mines. More than 100 workers remained underground. In total, during the night the enemy attacked Ukraine with 25 Shaheds. The Air Defence Force destroyed 11 enemy drones. A 37-year-old man was injured in yesterday’s attacks on Pokrovsk community of Nikopol region. He is currently in hospital in a moderate condition. Also during the night the occupiers shelled Nikopol region with artillery twice. They hit Marhanets and Myrove communities

In the afternoon a 63-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were injured by artillery fire, and were hospitalized. In total, the enemy shelled the region 3 times during the day. They targeted Nikopol and Myrove community. Almost two dozen shells were fired. An agricultural company, a sanatorium, 5 houses, 4 farm buildings and a power line were damaged.

The doctors of one of the medical institutions in Dnipropetrovsk region performed 7.000 operations during almost 2 years of full-scale war. 9 specialists operate, in particular, they remove fragments and carry out amputations.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia City Council announced that for its 30th anniversary, Ukrposhta redeemed the Ukrposhta delivers and the AFU win stamps. These stamps are included in the new postal block of the Heroic occupations series called “Ukrposhta is always with you”. The postal block depicts a real car of the mobile branch of Ukrposhta which is the first after the Armed Forces to enter de-occupied settlements.

In Vinnytsia You are not alone school volunteer center collected funds to support defenders undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. As a result, the funds were used for the purchase of necessary medical equipment and medicines which help our defenders to return to a full life.

In Vinnytsia 12 veterans’ families completed a course of a new social service. Specialists conducted both group and individual sessions with families, taught self-regulation skills and worked with the personal needs and problems of each participant.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA reported that at night the Air Defence Force shot down 3 russian drones in Kropyvnytskyi and Kropyvnytskyi region. 

In Kirovohrad oblast russo-Ukrainian war veteran Volodymyr “Buksha” Kovaliov ran a marathon on crutches and a prosthesis to raise funds to support his 56th Brigade and draw attention to the military’s problems. It is known that he collected about UAH 100,000 for the Armed Forces.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA reported that from Cherkasy region 27 electronic warfare systems were transferred to annihilate enemy drones, an anti-drone gun, almost 200 radio stations, 22 sets of searchlights, 10 plotters for printing maps and the rest of the necessary.

 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

During the past day, russian military personnel launched 153 strikes on 25 populated areas in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupiers conducted 49 UAV attacks on Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Malynivka, Poltavka, Novoandriivka, Levadne, Novoivanivka, Novodarivka, Novodanylivka, Shcherbaky, Huliaipilskei, Mali Shcherbaky, Piatyhatky, and Stepove, and also shelled Kamianske with MLRS. One hundred and three artillery strikes hit the territory of Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Robotyne, Preobrazhenka, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Stepove, Stepnohirsk, and other frontline towns and villages. A 40-year-old resident of Mala Tokmachka and a 33-year-old resident of Preobrazhenka were injured due to enemy artillery shelling. Thirteen reports regarding the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure objects  were received.

UkrainianArmed Forces repelled an attack by occupiers near Robotyne. It was reported by the General Staff.

According to preliminary data, over 680 residents of Zaporizhzhia oblast are considered missing or are in russian captivity. The head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, Iurii Malashko, provided this information today. Among the civilian captives is the mayor of Dniprorudne, Ievhen Matvieiev, who has been in captivity for almost two years since being abducted on March 13, 2022, at a checkpoint while performing official duties.

Access to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been prohibited to the employees of “Energoatom”. According to the IAEA, starting from February 1, only those “Energoatom” employees who have acquired russian citizenship and have signed employment contracts with a russian operating company, as well as personnel sent to ZNPP from russia, are working at the plant.

Updated data indicates that on January 31, 25 servicemen from Zaporizhzhia oblast were successfully returned from russian captivity. Among them is a military serviceman who had been considered missing for two years, as announced by the head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, Iurii Malashko.

Save Ukraine team has brought back four more children from the occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts. The children range from 0 to 16 years old. To date, 235 children have been successfully returned to Ukraine from the occupied territories and russia.

Mykolaiv oblast

On February 1 and 2, russian forces shelled the territory Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities in Mykolaiv oblast six times. There are no reports of casualties or injuries. This information comes from the morning report of Mykolaiv RMA.

Art project “That’s Why I Stay” from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark was presented in Mykolaiv. The online journal on visual culture, Bird in Flight, curated the project. The exhibition consists of photographs, video clips, and interviews with Mykolaiv residents, highlighting the human factor that underlies the heroic resistance of the city in the first months of the full-scale russian invasion. The heroes of the stories include people from various professions, age groups, and genders. What unites them is their decision to stay in Mykolaiv despite the danger and daily shelling, with the enemy almost at the city’s borders.

Odesa oblast

Ecologists have assessed the damages from the russian drone attack on Odesa during the night of January 17 when UAVs hit multi-story buildings. Experts found that, as a result of the attack, metallic debris and construction waste polluted a land plot of over 300 square meters. The total cost of the damage caused by land resource pollution is estimated to be over 30 million hryvnias. This information was reported on February 2 by the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.

Odesa oblast is among the six regions that will receive 15 million euros from the European Commission for the school bomb shelters construction. Lithuania is joining the initiative, allocating an additional 500 thousand euros for the project. This was announced by the director of the Department of Education and Science of Odesa RMA, Oleksandr Lonchak.

On Thursday, February 1, the writer, journalist, TV host, literary critic, editor, public figure, and founder of the Ukraїner project, Bohdan Lohvynenko, presented his collection of reports on trips to de-occupied territories of Ukraine in Odesa National Library. The book is titled “Deoccupation. Stories of Ukrainian Resistance. 2022.”

Kherson oblast

It is reported that the Russian army shelled residential areas Kherson downtown. A three-story building was partially destroyed, and surrounding homes were damaged. Two people are reported injured.  A 62-year-old woman suffered a concussion, explosive injuries, and cranial-brain trauma as a results of an other attack on Kherson.

Additionally, occuppiers attacked Beryslav, dropping an explosive device from a drone on a local resident. The victim suffered injuries to the legs and a broken arm.

The russians also launched two attacks on Inhulets. A 59-year-old woman suffered explosive injuries to her head and legs during the first attack, and a 37-year-old man was injured in the second attack, sustaining explosive injuries and fractures.

Bilozerka was heavily shelled today. More than a dozen private homes were significantly damaged.

A video of the attack at Kamianska Sich, a monument of national importance, appeared on russian Telegram channels. The footage shows how the cultural object suffered three powerful explosions during the shelling. The first attack occurred directly at the location of the former Kamianska Sich, where there are still unexplored production facilities of the iron smelting and pottery complex of the first half of the 18th century. The second strike took place on the territory of a modern tourist facility, where the lapidary, presenting stone monuments, is located in the immediate vicinity of the cross and the grave of the kish otaman Kost Hordienko and Sich entrance gate.

Yesterrday, the enemy conducted 279 attacks, releasing 1606 projectiles from artillery, mortars, MLRS, tanks, UAVs, and aviation. The enemy shelled Kherson city using 26 projectiles. Two people were killed and eight were injured, among the latter – policemen and volunteers.

The enemy targeted Beryslav, Novoberyslav, Chervonyi Maiak, Kachkarivka, and Respublikanets with guided bomb strikes. russian forces conducted a massive drone attack at  Beryslav, targeting a police service vehicle carrying members of the investigative-operational group. Around 4 PM, russian military dropped munitions on two vehicles transporting representatives of a humanitarian center, resulting in the death of two French citizens. Three other French citizens and an Odesa resident sustained explosive and gunshot injuries.

Near Maksym Gorky, the russian military attacked an emergency brigade returning from a call using a kamikaze drone. The explosion caused mechanical damage to the vehicle.

Kherson was under intense shelling. Residential buildings in all city districts  were destroyed or damaged. The historical center suffered the most, with damage to a bank, medical center, administrative buildings, shops, cafes, workshops, and the premises of a humanitarian headquarters were destroyed.

A powerful counter-battery fight continued in the area under the responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces. The enemy attempted 14 unsuccessful assaults and incurred significant losses, retreating to their original positions. Ukrainian forces continue efforts to expand the foothold. In the past day, confirmed losses for the enemy included 61 occupiers, 3 tanks, 7 artillery pieces, 6 units of automotive equipment, 2 boats, and 1 communication antenna. Two supply points were also destroyed.

Communities in Kherson oblast continue receiving fuel supplies. This time, residents of Bilozerka received fuelwood assistance from the Dutch Jewish Humanitarian Fund, facilitated by Charitable Foundation “Mangust.” Twenty-two families in the community received fuelwood, ensuring they can stay warm.

Volyn oblast

The Military History Research Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine presented the exhibition The Modern Army Through the Prism of the Past at the Volyn Military Academy. The mobile exhibition project tells about the history of the Ukrainian military from the time of the Cossacks to the present day.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Stalevi CF received financing in the amount of UAH 3 mlm 550K from the PIRAEUS BANK MKB European bank JSC. The funds will be directed to the implementation of projects in the key areas of the fund’s activities: treatment and examination of defenders of Ukraine who lost their health while defending their homeland; development and functioning of the program for physical and psychological rehabilitation, which Ukrainian defenders need as a result of injuries and being in captivity; continuation of educational work, in order to spread information about the exploits of heroes both within the country and throughout the civilized world.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

For the needs of the 78th battalion of the 102nd separate brigade of territorial defense and the combined assault brigade of the National Police of Ukraine Liut they sent two SUVs, three drones, medical kits, power banks worth UAH 720K. All this was purchased at the initiative of the Department of Education and Science of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that the 80th brigades of the self-propelled artillery division sent 30 FPV drones and Mavics to the military.

Lviv oblast

Spanish volunteers presented violins for the children of Stri region. Students of Hrabovetska-Dulibivska and Lysiatska schools of arts each received five musical instruments. They were donated by the JUNTOS por la VIDA organization.

Sudovyshnyany Youth Nursery raised funds for 11 drones for the Armed Forces. During the Christmas and New Year holidays, children from Yavoriv region spent over UAH 200K on Christmas carols.

Students of the folk vocal studio Chervona Ruta of Chervonohrad People’s House collected over UAH 50K for a Mavic quadrocopter for the 80th separate assault brigades during a charity concert.

The Association of Benefactors of Ukraine announced the 17th competition of charitable initiatives. This is the only national project within which the best philanthropists and volunteer initiatives in Ukraine are awarded. The winners of the competition will be awarded Angels of Good.

Rivne oblast

Rivne oblast and the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship continue cooperation. The development and the search for new ways of cooperation were discussed during an online meeting between Oleksandr Koval, Head of Rivne RMA, with Marcin Kuhchinskiy, Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, and Myron Sych, Vice-Marshal.

Meganets were sent from Mirnyi to the front. Educators and students of the lyceum in Rivne district fulfilled the order of the defenders. Mega camouflage nets measuring 6 by 12 meters were sent to the East.

Ternopil oblast

The title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Ternopil was posthumously awarded to 18 servicemen. The title was awarded for a significant personal contribution to the formation of Ukrainian statehood and personal courage and heroism shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The Veterans Hub was opened at Shepetivska RMA. Two more district hubs are also active, which already successfully provide support and assistance to our veterans, participants in hostilities, as well as their family members. In general, similar departments will be created in each community of the oblast.

Chernivtsi oblast

As part of international cooperation, a modern, maximally equipped special vehicle from partners from the German sister city of Stadt Teltow was sent to Khotyn rescue unit of the State Emergency Service. Thanks to such a car, rescuers will be able to respond to emergency situations more quickly and better.

Oleksandr Klets from Bukovyna was posthumously awarded the III degree For Courage Order. The man hails from the village of Nelypivtsi, Dnistrovskyi region, and he was killed in the summer of 2022 while defending Ukraine. His family received this high award.

Yaroslav Neviryanskyi from the village of Rososhany, Dnistrovskyi region, was posthumously awarded the For the Glory of Bukovyna award. From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he served as a radiotelephone soldier in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis. The soldier was killed last summer while performing a combat mission near the village of Mykolaivka, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.

In Germany, the state budget was adopted. This year, the German government can spend EUR 476.81 bln. About EUR 7.6 bln are provided for military aid to Ukraine in the document.

The Netherlands sent 45 mln kg of salt to Ukraine for sprinkling roads. It is noted that salt was delivered to Ukraine on five ships over the past few months. The cost, including transportation, is EUR 2.5 mln.

14 ambulances, purchased thanks to UNITED24 partners, will save lives in different parts of Ukraine. Ambulances are equipped with everything necessary for evacuation, rescue and resuscitation. They were sent to Kyiv, Odesk, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi and Chernihiv oblasts.

The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic reported that the Czech military has already trained almost a thousand soldiers of the Armed Forces in Poland. Specialized mobile groups of Czech engineers, chemists, medics and snipers were involved in the training.

Representatives of the State Property Fund of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. They discussed the possibility of attracting investments in the processes of privatization and leasing of state property.

The conference russia’s War Against Children was held in Latvia. The event is a continuation of the Bring Kids Back UA project initiated by the President of Ukraine. The purpose of the event: the return home of Ukrainian children kidnapped by the russian federation. The conference was attended by high-ranking Latvian officials, including President Edgars Rinkevics, Kristianis Karins, Minister of Foreign Affairs, ex-presidents Egils Levits and Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Robert Zile, Vice-President of the European Parliament, international human rights activists and journalists.

Another round of negotiations with Germany regarding bilateral security obligations was held in Berlin.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to the President of the United States of America. They discussed the current situation at the front and the actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to repel the russian invasion. In this context, the current needs of the Ukrainian army were considered.

Kaia Kallas, Prime Minister of Estonia, stated that Europe has tripled the production of shells for Ukraine. But the EU countries failed to achieve the “ambitious goal” of one million artillery ammunition for Ukraine by February. “So, first of all, what is good is that the production of ammunition in Europe has tripled. Of course, this is not enough. It also showed that the defense capability of European countries is far behind what it should be,” emphasized the Prime Minister.

Global impact of russian aggression 

Two volunteers from France were killed as a result of Russian shelling in the Kherson region. Four people were injured, including one Ukrainian, said French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournay. “A cowardly and dishonorable act. I express my solidarity with all volunteers who are dedicated to their work,” commented French President Emmanuel Macron.

Wagner Savita Diana, a combat medic of the third assault hundred, the first female military serviceman of the Carpathian Sich Battalion named after Oleg Kutsyn, died in the war. She moved to Ukraine even before the start of a full-scale war and gained eternal life on the battlefield, rescuing wounded Colombian soldiers of the Ukrainian army.

Also, two more Georgian soldiers died in the war in Ukraine – Zurab Tsiklauri and Gocha Zhvaniya. According to the “Georgian Legion”, they died on the front line on the Eastern Front. They fought in Ukraine since 2014.
