It has been the 283rd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:   

The enemy focuses its efforts on restraining the Defense Forces’ actions and fortifies its defensive lines and positions. Towards Avdiivka and Bakhmut, the enemy’s offensive continues and aviation is used to support ground groups.

The occupiers inflicted 2 missile and 10 air strikes and carried out 3 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and settlements along the contact line. The civilian infrastructure of Kramatorsk suffered a missile strike.

There is still a threat of missile strikes targeting energy system facilities and critical infrastructure throughout Ukraine.

Towards Volyn and Polissya, the situation has not changed significantly, there are no signs of enemy offensive groups being formed. Certain units of the Armed Forces of the republic of belarus continue to carry out tasks in the border areas with Ukraine.

Towards Sloboda, the enemy continues to hold its troops in the border areas of Belgorod oblast. Odnorobivka, Strilecha, Neskuchne, Ternova, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Cherniakiv and Chuhunivka in Kharkiv oblast were shelled from multi-caliber artillery.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy is defending. The settlements of Sinkivka, Tabaivka, Berestove and Vyshneve of Kharkiv oblast and Makiivka and Ploshanka in Luhansk oblast were shelled from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery.

Towards Bakhmut and Avdiivka, the enemy focuses its main efforts on conducting offensive actions, trying to improve its tactical position. Serebrianka, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Bila Hora, Kurdiumivka, Opytne, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast were shelling from tanks, mortars, barreled and rocket artillery.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy is defending itself. Velyka Novosilka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Zolota Nyva of Donetsk oblast were shelled with artillery. 

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy is also conducting defensive actions. He carried out artillery shelling of areas of more than ten settlements near the contact line, namely Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Towards Kherson, the enemy is defending the previously captured frontiers. The positions of our troops and liberated settlements of Kherson oblast were shelled from mortars, barreled and rocket artillery. Shelling continues in the suburbs and the city of Kherson.

The enemy continues to suffer losses. Thus, on December 2, as a result of the fire damage to the enemy’s concentration area in the city of Starobilsk, Luhansk region, the enemy’s losses amounted to about 30 servicemen wounded and 14 dead.

On December 2, in Melitopol and Vasylivka regions of Zaporizhzhia oblast, the occupiers lost more than 270 people wounded. The enemy death toll is being clarified.

Aviation of the Defense Forces has inflicted 13 strikes on buildups of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment, as well as a strike on the position of the occupiers’ anti-aircraft missile system.

Also, in the area of Pidhorodne, Donetsk oblast, an enemy plane was shot down. Information on its type is being clarified.

Units of rocket forces and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine affected 2 control points, ammunition depots and 2 buildups of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment.


The press service of the Ministry of Finance reports that in November, the deficit of the general fund of the state budget increased. For 11 months, the state budget was executed with a deficit of UAH 810.5 billion for the general fund in the amount of UAH 807.5 billion. For comparison, this is almost UAH 500 billion less than the budget of the general fund for this period in the amount of UAH 1.3 trillion. 

According to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian diplomats received 18 threats in 12 different countries. An urgent meeting was held due to such cases as the attempted terrorist attack in Spain, packages with perverted threats in the form of torn out animal eyes in Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Vatican, France, reports of mining in Kazakhstan, as well as a suspicious letter in the United States.

The Ministry of Environment informs that for 9 months of a full-scale war, the russian occupiers have damaged a third of the forests. 2,263 facts of environmental damage to the environment of Ukraine have been recorded by experts of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine. Also, about 450 thousand hectares of forest are still under occupation or were occupied. Demining of forests may take decades.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the occupiers fired at eight settlements of Kharkiv oblast from tanks and artillery. 

The first Skovoroda Express train arrived in Kharkiv from Uzhhorod. According to the head of the train, Vladimir Vladimir, he unites East and West of Ukraine and is named after the cultural figure, who today turns 300 years old.

The Ministry of Culture said that restoration of the Skovoroda Museum, destroyed by russian shelling, will require about UAH 112 million. Part of the money will be provided by UNESCO, the other – by Kharkiv oblast.

The russians struck the settlements of the Chuhuiv, Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Izium regions. 

In the Lypetsk community, after daytime shelling by russians, the second floor of a residential building caught fire. In Vovchansk, reeds and grass burned in the open area. 

After midnight in the city of Kupiansk, as a result of a missile strike by russians, there was damage to the building, a garage was destroyed, and windows in the premises were blown. No casualties. 

In Vovchansk, as a result of shelling, a 55-year-old man was wounded and hospitalized in a medical facility. The condition of the victim is moderate.

Donetsk oblast

Ukrainian defenders shot down a russian plane in a village near Bakhmut. The information was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

russia focused its main efforts on the attacks on Bakhmut. British intelligence believes that the russian plan probably provides for the encirclement of the city through tactical offensives to the north and south. Also, according to intelligence, the seizure of this city in Donetsk oblast turned into a “political goal”.

The russians launched missile strikes on the industrial zone of Kramatorsk. This information was confirmed by the chairman of the press service of the Kramatorsk Executive Committee Ihor Eskov. Mayor of Kramatorsk, Oleksandr Honcharenko, said that there were four strikes. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

Towards Volnovakha, 1 person was wounded. In Vuhledar, the city and the surrounding area are subjected to periodic shelling.

Near Donetsk, Kurakhove suffered the most at night – 8 high-rise buildings and 3 private houses were damaged, 1 person was injured. In the morning, another shelling of Kurakhove took place, consequences are being established. Shelling of Marinka and the surrounding area was also recorded at night, Avdiivka was shelled in the morning. No casualties.

Towards Horlivka, 2 people were wounded in Bakhmut. A house, an administrative building and an enterprise were damaged in the city. Also at night, there was shelling of the outskirts of the Toretsk and Soledar communities.

Towards Lysychansk, shelling of Torske and Zarichne in the Lyman community did not stop. No casualties are reported.

According to head of the Donetsk RMA, Pavlo Kyrylenko, the previous day, it became known about one civilian killed by russians in Soledar, Donetsk oblast. Another 4 people in the oblast were injured.

Luhansk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the previous day, as a result of the fire damage to the enemy’s buildup in the city of Starobilsk, the enemy’s losses made about 30 servicemen wounded and 14 dead.

The Luhansk OVA informs that the previous day, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repulsed the attacks of the russian invaders in the area of Krasnopopivka. Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the russians fired from tanks and the entire range of artillery in proximity off Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Makiivka and Ploshchanka. The occupiers also launched an airstrike on Novoselivske.

Referring to Head of the Luhansk RMA Serhii Haidai, in the reclaimed villages of Luhansk region, there is an acute problem with food and household chemicals, access to medicine, building materials for the repair of damaged houses and firewood for heating. Harvesting firewood is currently impossible, since the forests around the de-occupied villages are mined. Next week, local authorities will determine the area that pyrotechnicians will clear and make safe for cutting. 

The occupiers are trying with all their efforts to restrain the Ukrainian army, however, they understand that they will fail. Therefore, they are building a second line of defense near Starobilsk. In Bilohorivka, the Ukrainian military is defending itself. The village was completely destroyed by the russians.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was registered as a monastery within the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Changes to the legal entity of the Lavra were entered into the Unified State Register on December 2. Epiphany, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, will head the monastery as a legal entity. On December 1, the NSDC instructed the government to submit a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada on the impossibility of activities of religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence of the russian federation in Ukraine.

According to the order of Ukrenergo, emergency shutdowns are ongoing in Kyiv oblast. As a result of russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure, the capacity of power grids has decreased, the overloading of the power system leads to new emergency shutdowns.

Mayor of Kyiv, Vitalii Klychko, announced that in case of a complete lack of electricity in the city, the movement of metro trains will be stopped, and underground stations will work as points of temporary stay of people and shelter. All ground transport routes in the city will be served by buses that will be free of charge.

In the event of new attacks by the enemy on critical infrastructure in the capital, individual trade networks, markets and shops will continue to operate on autonomous power sources. Pharmacies of the Pharmacy ME and some of private pharmacies will also operate. Communal vet clinics will provide qualified veterinary care to pets during blackouts.

Most of Kyiv’s pumping stations are connected to generators in case of water supply problems. Water will also be delivered to all heating points in the city.

The Сity Сouncil reported that 26 stationary Invincibility Centres have been deployed in the premises of schools, kindergartens and administrative buildings in the Bucha community. It is also planned to equip at least 30 mobile heating points on the territory of the community.

The Kyiv City State Administration reported that a Consultation Center has been opened for families with children who have had problems with illegal deportation or when crossing the state border. It is noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, many families with children who were forced to leave Ukraine faced problems when crossing the state border, obtaining and renewing documents, as well as returning children.

Рead of the Kyiv RMA Oleksiy Kuleba said that the restoration of residential infrastructure damaged by the occupiers is underway in Kyiv oblast. Currently, 5 high-rise buildings on Haharina Street in Makarov are being repaired. Restoration of houses on six Bucha streets and 30 buildings in Irpen is underway. Despite difficult weather conditions and power outages, windows and doors are being installed there, roofs and covering repaired.

78 multi-apartment buildings have been renovated in the Irpin community. Work is planned for another 85 objects in the near future.

Mayor of the city Vitalii Klitschko announced that a symbolic Christmas tree of invincibility will be installed on Sofia Square in the capital this year. It will be artificial, 12 meters high, decorated with energy-saving garlands that will glow from a generator. Charging points for phones and other gadgets will be installed near the generator.

In Kyiv, they collect things for the military, who are admitted to the hospital after the battles near Bakhmut. The collection was organized by the city bookstore Shining of Book. One bus with things collected in three days has been sent to the east of Ukraine. 

Zhytomyr oblast

The SSU of Zhytomyr oblast informs that propaganda “methodology” of the kremlin, “teachings about satanism”, nazi symbols and brochures glorifying “russian lands” and “russian soldiers” were discovered in the dioceses of the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate) in Zhytomyr oblast. The monastery and two hermitages of the oblast  were “visited” by persons who were in contact with citizens of the russian federation. All seized materials have been sent for examination to take further procedural actions and bring the culprits to justice.

An exhibition of photo works by Dmytro Kozatsky (nickname “Orest”) from Malin, a defender of Azovstal who was released from russian captivity, was held in the European Parliament in Brussel. The Ukrainian Veterans Fund reported that the Ukrainian delegation took part in the opening of the exhibition for guests from the European Parliament, representatives of civil society and journalists.

Two modular houses for internally displaced persons were installed in the village of Hrozyne on the territory of the Korosten community. Families with children who chose the community for temporary residence will live there. The houses have everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Immediately after installation they can be connected to the necessary communication networks.

Hibuki, the hug dog, helps children in Zhytomyr overcome stress. This is an Israeli project launched in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. Hugs of the plush dog help children overcome their fears and focus on caring for the dog. Such a therapy session was held for students of Zhytomyr Special School No. 2.

Sumy oblast

Head of the Sumy RMA, Dmytro Zhivytskyi, reported that the enemy made 76 strikes on the border with various types of weapons. Seredyno-Buda, Znob-Novhorodske, Krasnopillia and Bilopillia communities came under the strikes.

Warehouses and hangars of one of the local agricultural enterprises were completely destroyed due the shelling of the border village of the Znob-Novhorodske community. 24 shells from self-propelled guns exploded on the territory of the farm.

Rescuers from Sumy oblast helped restore a hospital that came under enemy strikes in Bilopillia – the city is located 6 km from the border and is constantly under attack from the aggressor country. Bilopillia firefighters also helped the institution that provides medical assistance to several communities. They provided them with technical water with the help of a fire tanker.

Relatives and friends of prisoners of war from Konotop and Shostka joined the All-Ukrainian rally in support of Ukrainian prisoners of war. 15 cars and about 50 people drove through the center of Konotop and handed over the baton to motorists on the Baturyn highway who went to Kyiv.

Chernihiv oblast

Horodnyanka, Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka communities of Chernihiv oblast came under enemy shelling last day. In total, the State Border Service recorded more than 90 hits from mortars, barrel artillery and MLRS.

The Chernihiv RMA reported that the online business seminar “Finland and Ukraine – Сooperation on Reconstruction, Trade and Investment” took place. It was about expanding cooperation with Finland in the reconstruction of Ukraine and Chernihiv oblast. The representatives of the Finnish side presented the practical aspects of providing assistance to Ukraine, in particular, in the restoration of energy networks, reconstruction of educational and school infrastructure, and cooperation in the field of telecommunications.

The director of the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Chernihiv RMA Andrii Shemets announced that the ski base in Chernihiv, destroyed by the shelling, will be restored. It is planned to initiate the return of the premises of the base to the communal ownership of the community and to start collecting funds for its restoration. According to preliminary calculations, more than UAH 250 million is needed for its reconstruction.

In November, residents of the Bobrovytsia community collected and sent car parts, chainsaws, and many homemade goodies to the Ukrainian military in the east. Medical support for the fighters was provided by the Nosivka community, which included antibiotics, antipyretics, anti-colds, and antifungal drugs.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, the occupiers shelled three communities of the Nikopol region with heavy artillery and Hrad MRLS nine times. The enemy made five attacks on Nikopol. There, two dozen private houses, eight farm buildings, fifty solar panels, gas furnaces, and electric grids were mutilated. Shells from the MLRS also hit the Marhanets community. In the Chervonogryhorivka community, which was shelled by heavy artillery several times, three residential buildings, a gas pipeline and the electricity network were damaged. 

Vinnytsia oblast

Head of the RMA reported that the military personnel of the Territorial Defense Battalion from Vinnytsia were given a Matrix 300 strike drone with a 20x camera, a charging station and 3 sets of batteries. The total cost of the transferred equipment is UAH 1.3 million. The equipment was purchased by volunteer organizations with the support of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration. 

Kirovohrad oblast

According to Head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration Andrii Raikovych, they continue to improve Points of Invincibility and additional heating points. An additional generator, a container for drinking water, and a sufficient supply of quick-cooking food have been installed in Oleksandriia. 

Vadym Kucher, a blacksmith from Znamianka in the Kropyvnytskyi region, makes stoves and turbines for heating, staples for dugouts and stands for trench candles for the military. Together with his assistants, he started helping the fighters in 2014.

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, a batch of humanitarian aid from Poltava Oblast was transferred to Kherson Oblast. System units, laptops, monitors, switches and routers will be used to restore the work of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.

Cherkasy oblast

Another car was handed over to  the military from Cherkasy. This was reported by the Rotary Club “Cherkasy-Center”, which joined in the fundraising.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The situation towards Zaporizhzhia has not undergone significant changes. The enemy concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied borders. Over the past day, the occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in Vilniansk, Bilohiria, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Chervone, Malynivka, Dorozhnianka, Shcherbaky, Zaliznychne, Stepove, Prymorske, Olhivske, Novodanylivka, Charivne, Mali Shcherbaky, Kamianske. The police received 41 reports about the destruction of houses (apartments) and infrastructure objects as a result of shelling by russian military personnel.

The enemy set fire to the building of the Mykhailivka Higher Vocational School in temporarily occupied Mykhailivka. In this way, the occupiers intended to accuse the Defense Forces of Ukraine of destroying civilian infrastructure.

According to the General Staff, during December 2, the occupiers lost more than 270 people wounded in Melitopol and Vasylivka regions. Information about the liquidated military personnel is being clarified. More than ten cars with wounded servicemen and the bodies of dead occupiers arrived at hospitals in the city of Tokmak.

Volunteers are building a two-apartment house on the site of two private houses destroyed by an enemy rocket. “People’s construction”, as the volunteers call it among themselves, is carried out at the joint expense of international partners, as well as Ukrainian benefactors and all caring people. Almost UAH 1 million was collected for its construction and the main works have been done. Volunteers plan to build similar two-apartment houses for displaced families starting next year.

Mykolaiv oblast

On December 2, the armed forces of the russian federation shelled the territory of the Ochakiv community, striking the water area. There were no casualties or injuries as a result of the shelling. The day of December 2 and the night of December 3 passed peacefully in the rest of Mykolaiv Oblast.

Ten cars donated by the German city of Dortmund were brought to Mykolaiv. This is already the third batch of equipment that Dortmund sent to Mykolaiv. There are trucks with double cabins, some of which are equipped with tippers, and minibuses among the vehicles. The equipment is not new, but it is very important for the reconstruction of Mykolaiv.

The farmers of Mykolaiv oblast lost 40 percent of their harvest in 2022. 30 percent of the territory was not cultivated or harvested because of hostilities. In total, about two million tonnes of cereals and legumes were collected.

Odesa oblast

Natalya Humenyuk, Head of the coordination press center of the South Security and Defense Forces, informs that on December 3, the russian military deployed 18 ships on combat duty in the Black Sea. There are four missile carriers, two of which are submarines carrying 24 Kalibr missiles on board.

Additional Points of Invincibility are planned to be open in Odesa oblast on the basis of business enterprises, charitable and religious organizations. Some of them have been opened and are being equipped by the State Emergency Service and local communities.

Kherson oblast

The police opened 41 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast. The russian army shelled settlements in Kherson and Beryslav regions with MLRS and heavy artillery. 1 person was killed as a result of enemy artillery fire.

The russian military once again shelled the civilian infrastructure of Kherson. High-rise buildings, a school, a gas station were damaged, gas pipes broken in some houses. A market caught fire, windows were broken and balconies gutted in apartments, shells fell on football and children’s playgrounds. Power grids were also damaged in the city.

Two men blew up on an enemy mine near the village of Nova Kamianka. The circumstances of the event are being clarified.

165 kilometers of state roads and 263 kilometers of local roads were cleared in Kherson oblast. Also, National Police bomb technicians examined 7 hectares of liberated territory and seized 117 explosive objects. Pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service examined more than 28 hectares of territory, removed and neutralized 140 explosive objects.

The russians took all the collaborators out of the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky, Kherson oblast. All representatives of the occupation administration and the police together with their families left the city by bus.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Medical facilities in Lutsk received medical devices that are used for suctioning biological material. Aid was provided by the NGO Medicine in Action.

A man from Volyn, who lives in Poland, bought a car for the Armed Forces. He donated the minibus for 15K zlotys with various electronic devices to the needs of  the 14th brigade.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that in Zakarpattia, 214 Invincibility Centers were opened. They function in administrative buildings.

In Uzhgorod, Specialized School No.3 arranged a charity fair to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The funds received will be given to the needs of the defenders, and the pastries will be given to the wounded soldiers. In addition, school teachers will give financial aid to teachers from the reclaimed Kherson.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In the RMA, a meeting with specialists of the social policy department of the RMA, the Head office of the National Police in the oblast, the clergy and representatives of the public organization Eleos-Ukraine was held. They discussed measures to combat domestic and military aggression violence against civilians of Ukraine.

Social and medical institutions of Ivano-Frankivsk received humanitarian aid, namely, food for IDPs. Aid was provided by international partners within the framework of the World Food Program under the UN.

Lviv oblast

A powerful generator was bought for the Lviv Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital. The device, with a capacity of 610 kW, was purchased by Unimot Ukraine LLC with the assistance of Unimot S.A.

The international scientific and practical conference MEDCONGRESS started in Lviv oblast. During the event, those present will be introduced to the experience of providing assistance to the maxillofacial area during wartime and the organization of the system of providing metal-osteosynthesis.

The Nyzhankovytsk Vocational Lyceum received the Shkoliaryk bus. It was handed over by the German Agency for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH) with the support of the Federal Government of Germany and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Poland Juris Poikans returned the flag and guest book of honor to the Consul of the Republic of Latvia from Donetsk oblast Oleksandr Pavenkov. Rivne oblast

Since the war began, Rivne oblast has welcomed over 83K displaced people. The largest number of IDPs is from Kyiv oblast (9 524 IDPs) and Donetsk oblast (7 609 IDPs) comes second.

In the city of Rivne, on the basis of the emergency and rescue squad of the Special Purpose State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Rivne oblast, a meeting between Rivne rescuers and the founder of the CF TIP OF THE SPEAR Landmine Removal, demining specialist Ryan Hendrickson, was held.

Pyrotechnicians of Rivne received equipment for demining from partners from the UA. Namely, a demining robot, 50 Kevlar helmets, 30 class 4 body armor, 10 anti-fragmentation combat suits, 10 mine detectors and other additional equipment.

The RMA reported that 12 vehicles with 60 tonnes of humanitarian cargo left the oblast for the liberated territories.

IAEA organizes a new mission at the Rivne NPP next week. This mission will help ensure continued assistance and support from the agency.

Ternopil oblast

The Ternopil RMA took part in an online meeting on overcoming the consequences of russia’s military aggression against Ukraine under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk. Two more shelters were set up at Ternopil bus stops. Mayor of the city, Serhii Nadal, noted that shelters are able to protect against projectile particles, fragments of missiles and small arms and can withstand a load of 10 tonnes per square meter. Currently, there are 4 such shelters in Ternopil.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Chernivtsi oblast

The Ministry of Defense of Estonia informed that Estonia, the Netherlands and Norway will send a field hospital to Ukraine. Training of the Ukrainian medical forces on the use of this hospital will be conducted by Ukrainian and Estonian experts with the support of the Netherlands.

Google will provide $2 million for digital education for Ukrainians and 50K Workspace licenses for the Government.
