What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 8 April, there were 48 tactical clashes.

The enemy launched a total of 3 missiles and 76 air strikes, 61 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Residential apartment blocks and private houses, as well as other infrastructure, got destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of an offensive group formed were found.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. They launched air strikes in the vicinity of Bilopillya (Sumy oblast) and the city of Sumy. Around 15 settlements, including Bachivsk, Starykove, Volfyne, Khotin, Pysarivka, Riasne (Sumy oblast), Udy, Kozacha Lopan, and Vovchansk (Kharkiv oblast) came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kupiansk, there were no enemy offensive operations reported. However, the enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinities of Petropavlivka (Kharkiv oblast) and Stelmakhivka (Luhansk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Kotliarivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 1 assault in the vicinity of Terny (Donetsk oblast). The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Makiivka and Serebryanske forestry (Luhansk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Makiivka, Terny, and Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy executed 8 attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Andriivka, and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary, using air strikes, attempted to improve its tactical position. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Ivanivske, Rozdolivka and Kostiantynivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks in the vicinity of Berdychi (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Novobakhmutivka, Novoselivka Persha, Ocheretyne, Umanske (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Netailove, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders, with air support, made 20 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Oleksandropil, Urozhaine, and Vodiane (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy, with air support, launched 2 attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast) and northwest of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). An airstrike was reported in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Poltavka, Chervone, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka, and Lobkove (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy has not abandoned its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. On April 8, the invaders launched 3 unsuccessful attacks on positions of the Ukrainian troops. The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Mykilske, Tyahynka, and Beryslav (Kherson oblast) as well as the city of Kherson.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 4 anti-aircraft missile systems, and 7 buildups of troops, weapons and military equipment of the occupiers.

The Ukrainian Rocket Forces hit 1 enemy air defense system, 2 electronic warfare stations, and 2 buildups of troops of the russian invaders.

Oleh Synehubov, Head of the RVA, informs that local authorities are considering the possibility of forced evacuation of children from the northern part of Kharkiv oblast. These are Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv regions – the so-called Zolochiv direction. Those settlements are constantly under enemy fire. Recently, there has been a change in the tactics of enemy shelling. 

The Ministry of Defense presented the T-64BV tank, which is the backbone of the tank forces of the Ukrainian Army. This is a modification of the T-64 battle tank. The vehicle is equipped with modern communication and fire control systems, as well as surveillance devices, including a thermal imager.

Using satellite imagery, it is established that over the two years of the war, russians completely destroyed more than 60,000 hectares of forests in the territories they occupied. According to a minimum estimate, the total value of the lost forest exceeds UAH 14 billion in  direct damage only.  The figures do not consider the environmental consequences, which can be much more expensive to eliminate.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff said that russian federation launched an airstrike near Petropavlivka. About 18 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under artillery and mortar attack.

Chuhuiv was hit by an X-59 missile, causing a blast wave damaging two private houses. According to the RMA, a second missile fell on an open area towards Borova. There were no casualties.

Serhii Bolvinov, Head of Kharkiv police investigation department, informed that a 64-year-old man was injured during the shelling of Vovchansk. According to him, the man was at home when russians started shelling the city by artillery. The roof fell inside the house directly on the man.

The State Emergency Service of Kharkiv oblast reported that a 67-year-old man sustained a leg injury after stepping on an anti-personnel mine on the territory of a garden society in Borshchova, Lyptsi community.

They added that a truck with a trailer exploded while working in a field near Ivanivka, Chuhuiv region. The driver was not injured.

At 2am, the shelling damaged 4 private houses, 4 barracks-type apartment buildings and power grid in Riasne, Bohodukhiv region. There were no casualties.

At 1am, a residential building was damaged in Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, as a result of hostile shelling. There were no casualties.

Yesterday about 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attacks: Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kotliarivka and others. Zolochiv, Mali Prokhody, Vovchansk, Berestove and Kharkiv suffered airstrikes.

At 10pm, a residential building and two buildings were damaged as a result of shelling in Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.

From 9:45pm to 10:30pm, there was a series of shelling of Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, near the power station. There is neither electricity nor mobile communication. There was no information about the casualties and destruction.

At 7:48pm, a residential building burned down as a result of the KAB shelling in Kruhliakivka, Kupiansk region. There was no information about the casualties.

At 7:05pm, one house was destroyed, three houses damaged and an educational institution partially destroyed in Kozacha Lopan, Kharkiv region as a result of the shelling by KABs. There was no information about the casualties.

At 2:15pm, there was an artillery shelling of the open territory in Kupiansk. 10 private houses were damaged. There were no casualties.

At 12:42pm, the open area was shelled in Derhachi, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.

At 12:25pm, there was an enemy attack by an MRLs, which damaged a private house in Kolisnykivka, Kupiansk region. There were no casualties.

As a result of shelling by UMPD D-30 from 12:01pm to 12:04pm in Shevchenkivskyi district, 19 houses and 13 cars were damaged and 5 people injured: a 45-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds and four women aged 72, 46, 37, 36 suffered acute stress reactions.

At the same time, the S-300 explosion occurred in Industrialnyi district. Two apartment buildings, one production facility and 10 cars were damaged. There were no casualties.

At 11:55am, there was an enemy shelling of KAB bombs in Zolochiv, Bohodukhiv region. The shelling hit an open area. There were no casualties.

Yesterday the enemy did not conduct any offensive towards Kupiansk.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 13.93 hectares of territory and destroyed 197 explosive ordnance.

There are currently no active hostile assault operations towards Kupiansk. The enemy is replenishing its units after suffering significant losses. The construction of fortifications continues.

Kharkivoblenerho explained that power outages exceed seven hours and sometimes do not match the schedule due to damage to power lines caused by shelling, emergency repairs, the operation of the power grid in extreme conditions and restrictions on electricity supply.

The yeVidnovlennia government programme provides compensation for the purchase of new housing in Kharkiv oblast. The specialised commissions have already received 4641 applications and formed 1518 certificates totalling almost UAH 2.2bn.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that in the afternoon, the enemy attacked a 9-storey residential building in Selydove. As a result of the strike, the ceiling between the 5th and 6th floors was destroyed, and a fire broke out in an apartment on the 5th floor. Rescuers rescued 4 residents, including 1 child, who could not leave the building on their own. Firefighters extinguished the fire in a destroyed apartment on the 5th floor of the building. At least 5 people have been reported injured.

The invaders shelled Chasiv Yar by artillery, killing a man and damaging a private house.

A civilian was injured in Yelyzavetivka as a result of an artillery shell.

The invaders dropped a KAB-250 bomb on Toretsk, damaging 9 private houses.

Also russian troops launched two airstrikes on Ocheretyne, damaging a five-storey residential building and an enterprise.

In Kostiantynivka, three private houses and 4 cars were damaged, and a gas pipeline cut.

The casualties of the russian strike were commemorated in Kramatorsk. On 8 April 2022, russian troops launched a ballistic missile at people waiting for an evacuation train.  The attack took the lives of 61 people, including 9 children.  121 civilians were injured.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped the enemy attempts to advance near Bilohorivka. The enemy is constantly pressing there and near Terny.  The day was calmer towards Kupiansk. Liberated Makiivka was under mortar and artillery attack. Also russians shelled Nevske by artillery.

In Rubizhne, the military commissariat staff obliged the men to report voluntarily every month. The absence of a fresh stamp when checking documents on the street or at home is a reason for mobilisation.

The number of suicide cases in the ranks of the so-called “people’s police of lpr”‘ has increased dramatically. The invaders did not pay attention to this problem for a long time, until the percentage of suicides reached a threatening level.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, during the workshop “Women’s leadership and family business in times of challenges” announced the increase by 10.000 in business entities with almost half of them being registered by women. Kyiv RMA was the first among the regions to create the Council of Women-Entrepreneurs with a filial Investment Group to attract investors to the Kyiv oblast.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) reported on the X social network about transferring Kyivteploenergo 30 mobile boilers to the utility company to provide heat to homes, schools, and hospitals during emergencies caused by russian attacks.

RMA reported the provision of high-value equipment and medical products for health care facilities to the Kyiv oblast worth almost 11 million UAH by international partners. The region is also expecting the transfer of 10 PCR analyzers from United Help Ukraine – a key partner providing the largest amount of medical equipment.

After a forced pause for five years, the charity Vienna Ball starts in Kyiv on 24 April. The ball participants unite to collect funds for the Children’s Towns in Ukraine NGO, which provides primary aid to children who have found themselves in difficult life circumstances and who have suffered physical, moral, or psychological injuries during the war.

The State Emergency Service announced the opening of the photo exhibition “Defining Futures: People, Teams and Technologies for Mine Safety of Ukraine” on Sofia Square, which demonstrates the impact of explosives on life in Ukraine. The exhibition is available until 19 April.

The Makarov community joined the national project “Grove of Children’s Dreams” for the second time. The initiative aims to plant as many trees as children died as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Vadym Tokar, the village head of Makarov, reported that 100 paradise apple trees have been planted on the territory of the local hospital. He addressed the place’s symbolism – two children were born in one of the buildings of the hospital from the beginning of hostilities until the moment of evacuation. Seven children in the community died during constant russian shelling.

In the Borodyansk community, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard conducted canister therapy and anti-mine safety for children of the community who survived the occupation. The event took place at UWG HUB Borodyanka

Zhytomyr oblast

The city council reported that enemy kamikaze drones attacked a critical infrastructure facility in Zvyagel. Due to the threat of air pollution, the council decided to transfer the city’s educational institutions to distance learning.

RMA reported that during the air alert, the forces and means of anti-aircraft defence of the oblast shot down a part of the Shaheds over Zhytomyr Oblast. According to preliminary information, no victims or injured as a result of the enemy strike.

The Сity Сouncil reported that the Ukrainian Army Recruiting Center opened in Zvyagel. It starts functioning on 8 April in the Diya Center premises. In the center, you can get advice on current vacancies in the Armed Forces and independently choose a military unit and specialisation. This is a new approach to the recruitment of the Armed Forces, in contrast to the mobilisation draft, where conscripts are sent to military units and positions according to the mobilisation order.

On April 6, almost 100 fans of motorsports from different regions of Ukraine joined the All-Ukrainian Motocross Championship, which took place on the territory of the Oliiv community near Zhytomyr. The tournament organisers reported that all donations collected during the competition will be given to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Sumy oblast

The Sumy RMA reported that the enemy launched an airstrike with four anti-aircraft missiles in the center of Bilopillya. One woman was killed and three people injured with one of them in serious condition. Commercial establishments, the city council, and motor vehicles were destroyed. Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing at the site.

The RMA also informed that after 15:00 russians carried out an airstrike on the civilian infrastructure. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.

The State Emergency Service reported that the enemy damaged a fire-rescue unit during the Sumy Oblast border shelling. Wall cladding, gates, and fire trucks were damaged by the shock wave and debris. At the time of the impact, the rescuers were in shelter, no one was injured.

The RMA reported that russian troops shelled the Shalygin community with 10 explosions from mortars recorded.

russian federation military carried out 40 shellings of Sumy Oblast with a total of 173 explosions from various types of weapons recorded. 11 border communities were shelled: Khotyn, Myropil, Bilopollya, Vorozhba, Krasnopil, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Shalygine, Esman, Znob-Novgorodske, and Seredyna-Buda. One person was injured as a result of artillery shelling in the Myropil community.

The police of Sumy Oblast reported that as a result of russian shelling on 7 April, two civilians were injured in Esmansk and Myropil communities. Three private houses, an apartment in an apartment building, an administrative building, a post office, and a school, and power lines were damaged. 

The Ministry of Energy reported about restoring power supply to 3,495 consumers in Sumy Oblast that were previously cut off due to hostilities. russian shelling caused new damage to equipment and electrical networks. 6,542 consumers in 76 settlements were left without electricity. In one of the settlements of the Sumy district on 6 April, an overhead gas pipeline was damaged as a result of artillery fire – 16 consumers were disconnected.

The SSU detained the FSB agent of russian federation, who was correcting enemy airstrikes on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the border region of Sumy. During a reconnaissance sortie, he tried to establish the exact coordinates of the AFU military facility to correct an enemy airstrike on it. According to the investigation, the detainee turned out to be a former local functionary of the banned “Party of Regions”.

Referring to the State Emergency Service of Sumy Oblast, over the past week regional pyrotechnics destroyed 84 munitions found in Sumy, Okhtyr, Konotop, and Shostky districts. Since the beginning of the year, 258 explosive objects have been discovered in the region.

According to the Sumy City Council, on 9 April the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group will consult the people of Sumy on issues of searching for prisoners and missing persons. Consultations will take place on the base of the Department of Social Protection of the Population. This public organization also provides free psychological and humanitarian assistance to the families of civilian hostages, financial assistance for medical examinations, and treatment for those who returned from captivity or were tortured by the rssian military during the occupation.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Security Service, russian troops carried out 10 shellings on the border of Chernihiv oblast, with a total of 38 explosions recorded. Three communities were under enemy fire: Novgorod-Siversky – 6 hits by unguided air missiles from an airplane and 4 mortar hits; Semenivka – 9 hits from mortars; Snovsk – 19 hits from mortars.

Chernihiv RMA reported that as a result of enemy shelling on 7 April, a power line was damaged in the Novgorod-Siversk district community. Several hundred consumers were left without electricity.

The enemy shelled 47 times on 19 settlements of Chernihiv Oblast. In total, 218 explosions were recorded during this period. Vyacheslav Chaus, head of Chernihiv OVA, stressed that more than 1,200 consumers were left without electricity due to shelling. The enemy was using various types of weapons including aviation, as well as increasing shelling with the use of drones. In addition, subversive and intelligence groups of the occupiers are trying to enter the region, but the Ukrainian military stops them.

RMA added that the educational institutions of Borznyansk, Semenivsk, Snovsk, Koryukivsk, Novgorod-Siversk, and Ostersk territorial communities received 51 laptops from Germany. The equipment came from the Ministry of Science, Culture and European Integration of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in cooperation with the German-Ukrainian NGO “Nord Haus UA”.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening and at night the enemy continued to terrorize Nikopol region launching 6 kamikaze drones at the region’s center. A utility company, a shop, a private house and a car were damaged. The occupiers shelled Marhanets community twice firing more than a dozen artillery shells. There were no casualties. 

2 people were injured in Nikopol. In the morning, a 21-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man were wounded by artillery shelling. They were hospitalized in moderate condition. In total, the occupiers attacked Nikopol 6 times during the day launching 3 kamikaze drones and firing 3 artillery shells. The region’s center and Marhanets community were hit. 2 infrastructure facilities, 6 private houses were damaged, one of them was completely destroyed, 5 outbuildings, a truck and a car, 3 power lines and a gas pipeline were hit.

Vinnytsia oblast

7 Mavic 3Ts, 7 thermal imagers, 5 Bandera Power charging stations and 2 searchlights were sent by Vinnytsia community to the soldiers of 4 military units. 

According to the RMA some of the equipment will go to the eastern frontline. The other equipment will be useful for defenders hunting down the aircraft used by the occupiers to attack Ukraine.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA reported that an enemy UAV was shot down over Kirovohrad region at night. There were no casualties or damage.

Poltava oblast

Poltava Recruiting Center has recruited 15 candidates for marine units in 2 weeks. People are being recruited for both combat and rear positions. Viktor Samokhin, Head of the Marine Corps Recruitment Center of the Ukrainian Navy announced that there are also vacancies for logistics and supply positions.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA Cherkasy region sent 100 FPV drones to the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today the enemy launched a rocket strike on industrial facility in Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the attack, 3 people were killed and 8 were injured. 14 buildinga, including 7 residential buildings a medical facility and cultural center were damaged.

Yesterday, the occupiers carried out 357 strikes on 8 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 5 airstrikes on Mala Tokmachka and Malynivka. 62 UAVs of various modifications attacked Zaporizhzhia, Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, and Novoandriivka. 14 MLRS shelling targeted Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne and Malynivka. There were 276 artillery strikes on Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne, Malynivka, and Kamianske. There were 7 reports on destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities. 3 people were killed, and 3 were injured as a result of enemy “Grad” shelling in Polohy region.

The russian army attacked the positions of Ukrainian forces 5 times nearStaramaiorske in Donetsk oblast and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. This was reported in the daily summary of the General Staff.

Specialists from the State Environmental Inspectorate took water samples in the Vyrva area in Zaporizhzhia, where on 3 April 3 a fish protection patrol found 40 dead fish. Increased water alkalinity was found, which may be caused by emissions due to russian missile strikes on DniproHES on 22 March, 2024.

Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that the drone strikes on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) on 7 April pose a threat to nuclear safety. IAEA experts also reported explosions and gunfire on 7 April. Additionally, the IAEA team heard several artillery shells near the plant. IAEA experts inspected three sites that were attacked and confirmed the physical impact of drone explosions, including in one of the six reactor buildings. They reported observing minor damage to the roof of the dome of the sixth reactor unit and scratches on the concrete plates supporting the primary water storage tanks.

Residents of some villages in Melitopol region were left without water. According to Ivan Fedorov, the head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, after the russian military blew up the Kakhovka HES, which supplied Dnipro water to the villages, they faced the threat of dehydration. Ten months after the man-made disaster, the occupation authorities failed to prepare for the complete drying up of the main canal. As a result, residents in parts of the occupied territories were left without water supply.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMA reports thar, russian “Shahed-131/136” was shot down over Voznesensk region on the night of 8 April. Its debris damaged power lines, leaving 14 settlements in the region without electricity. As of 3:35 PM, power supply has been restored. There were no casualties or injuries among the population.

Energoatom and the Yuzhnoukrainsk City Council are strengthening cooperation for the socio-economic development and protection of the city adjacent to the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant. Recently, Petro Kotin, the head of Energoatom, and Denys Kravchenko, the secretary of Yuzhnoukrainsk City Council, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to enhance the protection of the Nuclear Plant, the satellite city, and improve the safety of its residents. This was reported by the press service of the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant.

Odesa oblast

Tonight, the enemy attacked Odesa oblast from the Black Sea waters, with the port infrastructure and the region’s infrastructure as apparent priorities. Four drones were shot down in Odesa oblast, the rest hit the facilities in the region. A transportation and logistics object was damaged. The scale of destruction and damage is currently being clarified. Additionally, debris from the downed drones damaged a gas station, but no casualties were reported. This was reported by the “South” Operational Command.

The leadership of Odesa RMA and a delegation from the United States discussed the provision of additional air defense assets, the current security situation in Odesa oblast, the operation of the maritime corridor and further support for Ukraine. Tom Suozzi, congressman of the United States House of Representatives, highlighted the strategic importance of Odesa oblast for Ukraine and global food security. United States Senator Joni Ernst emphasized her advocacy for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress and assured that assistance would continue. This was reported by Odesa Regional Military Administration.

1.6 million UAH is the damage caused to the atmosphere following the attack on the energy infrastructure of Odesa oblast on 30 March, 2024. Structures storing 77 tons of petroleum products caught fire during that incident. The environmental damage from this russian shelling was assessed by the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.

Kherson oblast

This morning, a 63-year-old resident of Beryslav was hit by a russian drone strike. The man suffered blast injuries, concussion, and injuries to his arms and legs. Another resident of Bilozirka was also affected by the drone attack. Medics assess the victim’s conditionas moderate.

Yesterday, the enemy shelled Sadove, Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Poniativka, Dniprovske, Yantarne, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, Shliakhove, Bilozirka, Novoberyslav, Mykhailivka, Kachkarivka, Stanislav, and the city of Kherson. 6 private houses, a critical infrastructure object, a shopping center, a public catering establishment, a hair salon, utility buildings, a garage, and a private car were damaged as a result of enemy attacks. Three people were injured due to russian aggression.

There were 8 clashes with the enemy on the left bank of the Dnipro River, in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson oblast. The occupiers were forced to retreat having suffered losses. Our units continue their combat operations to consolidate and expand the foothold. russian occupying forces are conducting active aerial reconnaissance, attempting to penetrate as deeply as possible into the rear regions. They are pressing with artillery shelling and have increased the use of various types of combat drones by 30% over the past week. Southern defense forces destroyed 126 occupiers and 40 units of weaponry and military equipment towards Orihiv and Kherson yesterday.

A new water tower has been installed in Mala Oleksandrivka to replace the old ones damaged by russian shelling. In total, hydraulic structures will be installed in five settlements of Velyka Oleksandrivka community. This assistance became possible thanks to the implementation of the humanitarian project by “Solidarites International.”

The humanitarian center team “Proliska Kherson” promptly arrived at the scene of the shelling in Kherson to provide assistance to the affected. 53 residents whose housing was damaged received non-food items of primary necessity from UNHCR Ukraine – the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.

As part of the “Light House Repairs” program, the charitable foundation “Heaven of Ukraine” delivered building materials to residents of the Tiahynka community. These include 600 OSB boards, 900 planks, 120 sheets of glass, 60 rolls of tarpaulin, and other consumables. They will help with carrying out priority repair work in about 60 damaged homes.

Scottish volunteers and juvenile police officers organized a gastronomic festival for families of displaced persons in Kherson oblast. Representatives of the Scottish organization “Siobihan’s Trust” treated everyone to freshly baked pizza for free, while juvenile police officers distributed sweets and toys to children.

Volyn oblast

In 2023, the number of appeals to specialists of the Prykarpattia Regional Clinical Center for Mental Health doubled. In total, outpatient care was provided to over 40,000 people, including military personnel and IDPs. 7,150 patients received inpatient care last year, which is 20% over in 2022.

Lviv oblast

Over 3,000 people returned from captivity thanks to the cooperation of the Western Regional Center of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War with other structures. During the year of operation, the Center took part in over 50 exchanges of prisoners of war and the release of civilian hostages. Its specialists have processed over 3,000 appeals from native soldiers who are in captivity or missing. They held over 1,300 personal and 50+ field meetings with relatives of defenders.

On the facade of the Boratin school, a memorial sign was attached to Mykola Levus, graduate and resident of the village of Boratin. Relatives, friends and fellow villagers of the serviceman joined the opening of the memorial plaque. In December 2022, Mykola Levus stood up to defend the Motherland. He was the driver of the 3rd Motorized Infantry Division. The man was killed on 26 February 2023 while performing a combat mission in Bakhmut region.

Students of Strii Lyceum №7 implemented the Color Shelter project at their school and painted the school shelter with pictures. In particular, the drawings correspond to the age of the children in the rooms. This initiative was supported by teachers and parents of students. And the directorate allocated funds for work and provided appropriate tools.

Rivne oblast

21 communities of Rivne oblast concluded 56 international partnerships. Local self-government bodies of the oblast will continue to develop territorial cooperation with cities of other countries. This was discussed during a round table meeting with the participation of people’s deputies of Ukraine, representatives of state authorities, all communities of the oblast, partners from the Republic of Lithuania and international organisations. Communities of Rivne oblast cooperate with 13 countries of the world. In particular, cities of Germany, Italy, the US and others. Most of such partnerships are with Polish cities.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council sent 50 fpv drones for the soldiers of the 14th regiment thanks to the budget funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Slavutsk City Regional Court in Khmelnytskyi oblast reported that in the oblast, a woman accused the russian federation and Ukraine of suffering due to the war and won UAH 500,000 in compensation. In her lawsuit, the woman claimed that the war started by the russian federation led to the violation of her right to peace. She demanded almost UAH 50m in compensation for property and moral damage from the russian federation. The court made a decision to satisfy her claim, charging UAH 500,000 from russia in compensation for the moral damage caused.

Chernivtsi oblast

The renovation of Chernivtsi Regional Hospital for war veterans continues. On the basis of Chernivtsi RMA institution, together with the regional council and the project of Viktor and Olena Pinchuk, an innovative rehabilitation centre for defenders with 60 beds is being created. Both internal and external construction works are planned. UAH 30m was allocated from the regional budget for the insulation of the facade and the arrangement of the entrance group, taking into account accessibility standards. Chernivtsi RMA continues negotiations with international partners regarding opportunities for cooperation, in particular, financing of repair works and conversion of another building of the institution to increase capacities for rehabilitation.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Government portal reported that over $700m was allocated by international partners for humanitarian demining of Ukraine. These funds are intended for demining projects for 2022-2027. Key donors for Ukraine include the USA, Switzerland, Norway, EU countries, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany and others.

South Korea will allocate $12m for the rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military. Seoul will transfer funds through the NATO Trust Fund for Ukraine. The NATO Military Medical Clinical Rehabilitation Center provides surgical intervention, psychological treatment, research, education and training for wounded Ukrainian servicemen. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that NATO plans to help in the creation of such centres in five cities of Ukraine, in particular in Irpen near Kyiv.

Lithuania starts a special program for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel. Prime Minister of Lithuania Simonite announced that her country will allocate about €15m for these purposes.

Herman Halushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, announced that Lithuania offered to disassemble its own closed thermal power plants into spare parts for Ukraine.

Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Germany initiated the search for available Patriot air defence systems for Ukraine.

Paulo Rangel, new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, stated that the new Portuguese government supports Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Raphael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, announced that there were 3 direct hits to the protective structures of the main reactor of Zaporizhzhia NPP.
