It has been the 785th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

During the day of 18 April, there were 71x tactical engagements.

The enemy launched a total of 6x missiles and 63x air strikes, 41x MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have wounded civilians. Residential apartment blocks and private houses, as well as other infrastructure, got destroyed and damaged.

Volyn and Polissia axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the russian areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Orlivka (Sumy oblast), Vovchansk, Strilecha (Kharkiv oblast). More than 20x settlements, including Naberezhne, Kremskyi Buhor, Mykolaivka (Chernihiv oblast), Kliusy, Bilopillia, Brusky (Sumy oblast), Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Hatyshche (Kharkiv oblast) came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Kupiansk and Lyman axes: the adversary conducted no offensives. However, the enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Borova (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 20x settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 2x attacks in the vicinities of Terny and Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, using air attacks, attempted to breach Ukrainian defence. The invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Nevske (Luhansk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Makiivka, Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17x attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Verkhnokamianske, Vyimka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Novyi, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary attempted to improve its tactical position. The invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of New York (Donetsk oblast). More than 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 11x attacks in the vicinities of Ocheretyne, Novokalynove, Berdychi, Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, using air attacks, made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Semenivka and Selydove (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Umanske (Donetsk oblast).

Novopavlivka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Novomykhailivka, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders, with air support, made 12x attempts to breach Ukrainian defence. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Oleksandropil, Vodiane, Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostiantynivka (Donetsk oblast).

Orikhiv axis: the enemy, with air support, launched 3x attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinities of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast) and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20x settlements, including Chervone, Bilohiria, Shcherbaky, Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Kherson axis: the enemy does not abandon its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. In particular during the day of 18 April, the invaders, using air attacks, executed 7x unsuccessful attacks on positions of the Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Novotiahynka, Poniativka (Kherson oblast).

During the day of 18 April, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 9x concentration of enemy troops.

The Ukrainian Missile Forces hit 1x concentration of troops, 1x ammunition depot of the russian invaders.


Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian manufacturers have sent 2,000 electronic warfare devices to the frontline. These electronic warfare devices protect the military and their positions, armoured vehicles, evacuation vehicles and intercept russian FPV drones.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, confirmed that a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were returned to the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. They are currently receiving the necessary medical and psychological assistance. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that at 12:07am, the enemy attacked Podoly village of Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, a private house was on fire. There were no casualties.

During the day, the invaders launched artillery and mortar attacks on 22 settlements on the border of Kharkiv oblast including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kyslivka of Kupiansk region. The enemy used guided aerial bombs with high-explosive warheads and drones with ammunition.

At 4:17pm, the roof of an agricultural company’s outbuilding was on fire as a result of FAB-250 shelling in Kindrashivka village of Kupiansk region. The ceiling and outbuilding, two private houses were damaged. There were no casualties.

The enemy launched 4 unsuccessful attacks near Novoserhiivka of Izium region.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 47.99 hectares and destroyed 699 explosive ordnance.

The Twenty-Second: Stories of Underground Kharkiv quest game has been released on Steam. The game takes place in the first-person perspective of a history teacher who is trying to settle down at a Kharkiv metro station at the beginning of a full-scale invasion. He has to prepare for lessons, set up a shelter and help other people hiding in the underground.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that yesterday the oblast suffered 1816 hostile attacks. The russian army shelled 5 settlements: Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka cities, Zhelanne, Ocheretyne settlements and Markove village. 22 civilian objects were damaged, including 19 residential buildings, educational institutions and an administrative building.

On the night of 18 April, russia launched 10 missile attacks on Donetsk oblast. The invaders launched six missiles at Pokrovsk, damaging a service station, a business and 8 civilian cars.

Another four missiles targeted Selydove, killing a civilian. 12 private houses, an agricultural enterprise, a shop and a power line were destroyed.

In Krasnohorivka, two civilians were injured and private houses damaged.

The russian military launched an airstrike on Kostiantynivka, damaging 12 private houses and an educational institution.

The enemy shelled Markove of Kostiantynivka community by artillery, damaging a private house, an administrative building and an educational institution.

The White Angels crew and volunteers evacuated a family, 9 cows, chickens, dogs and a cat from Torske. To avoid enemy attack by drones, the residents had to take their livestock to a neighbouring village at night.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the invaders launched guided aerial bombs at Nevske in the morning.

The enemy stormed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Nevske and neighbouring Terny in Donetsk oblast. Three russian attacks were repelled there. They continue active hostilities in Bilohorivka. Nevske was attacked by multiple rocket launchers and mortars. The invaders used artillery in Hrekivka and Makiivka, aviation in Bilohorivka and Serebrianka forest.

Residents of Nevske and Novoliubivka received a weekly supply of bread. Food and household supplies were brought to Nevske.

Representatives of young people from the so-called “lpr” were gathered in kaluga region. There, they organised a historical and educational forum for them called “Young Soldier’s Course. Information Front”. They are taught how to spread russian narratives on social media as part of the Education national project.

Two civilian residents of Lysychansk were shot with an assault rifle by a former fighter of the russian Storm Zet assault unit. Prior to the full-scale invasion, this russian had repeatedly served sentences for robbery, theft and road accidents. However, he was granted the right to be free for his participation in hostilities.

31 cultural heritage sites have been destroyed or vandalised by russians in Luhansk oblast since the start of the full-scale invasion.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The RMA reported that almost 17,500 objects out of more than 29,000 damaged by russian aggression have been restored in Kyiv oblast. Reconstruction continues under government programs, at the expense of regional and local budgets, with the assistance of international partners and foundations.

Currently, the reconstruction of a residential multi-story building on Komarova Street heavily damaged in the spring of 2022 is underway in Myla. According to the RMA, the contractors dismantled the damaged building components, rebuilt damaged walls and ceilings, replaced broken windows and doors, and restored the building’s facade and roof, water supply and sewerage networks.

Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk announced the opening of an innovative construction waste recycling site to dispose of debris accumulated as a result of the russian invasion in Bucha. Almost all the equipment for the site was provided by UNDP Ukraine.

Korean partners will help finish the construction of a kindergarten in Bucha, which could not be completed in 2022 due to the invasion. During the occupation, the kindergarten for 144 children was damaged: the roof was slashed, windows smashed, and the facade broken. The management of the Korean company SsangYong came to inspect the facility. The project is planned for implementation jointly with the CORE Ukraine Foundation.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that the first 13 Ukrainian defenders with amputation wounds have left for a military hospital in Berlin, where they will be provided with modern and innovative prostheses. German experts expressed their readiness to provide prosthetics to 60 Ukrainian soldiers during a visit to Kyiv in March. The visit was accompanied by 6 Kyiv prosthetics technicians who will study in Germany and work at the new Center for Military Prosthetics after returning home.

A memorial plaque was unveiled in Bila Tserkva in honour of the fallen hero, Serhii Melnychenko, a member of the State Emergency Service. The rescuer was killed on 4 April while eliminating the consequences of enemy shelling in the city of Chernihiv. He is survived by his wife and three sons. According to a presidential decree, Serhii Melnychenko was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, III degree.

The National Resistance. War through the Eyes of Volunteers exhibition will be presented in museums and galleries of Kyiv oblast. The exhibition features photos and textual materials of 5 volunteers who were directly involved in the fighting and kept a photo chronicle themselves. The exhibition was opened in the RMA, where it will last for a week. 

Zhytomyr oblast

The RMA reported that a new AFU recruitment centre has opened in Berdychiv. Now, anyone can get all the necessary information about the procedure, contract military service benefits and required training in the office of Berdychiv branch of Zhytomyr Regional Employment Center.

Mayor Serhii Sukhomlyn informed about the worker shortage in large communal enterprises of Zhytomyr. Large companies such as Zhytomyrvodokanal, Zhytomyr Tram and Trolleybus Administration, and Zhytomyrteplocomunenerho are critical for the city and can reserve some of their employees. The mayor emphasised that it is important to hire veterans and train women for professions previously mainly held by men.

Zhytomyr City Council announced that three soldiers of the Polissia 95th separate airborne assault brigade critically wounded while defending Ukraine from russian troops were awarded medals by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on 17 April in Zhytomyr. Yurii Hutsul, Serhii Simak and Artem Karandiuk were honoured with the For Wounds departmental award. All paratroopers went to defend Ukraine voluntarily.

Zhytomyr oblast handed over 36 generators to Kharkiv which remains under constant enemy attack. According to the RMA, 27 communities in Zhytomyr oblast that had the necessary equipment responded to the request to share energy with Kharkiv residents.

Sumy oblast

The RMA reported that at night the enemy shelled Bilopillia community with 10 attacks from multiple rocket launchers recorded.

Over the day, the russians shelled Sumy oblast 11 times with a total of 39 mortar and artillery strikes, FPV drone attacks, and VOG ammunition dropping from a UAV. The russian military launched three airstrikes on Yampil community. Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman and Seredyna-Buda were also shelled.

On 17 April, at about 1:30am, the russian army attacked a residential area of Bilopillia, Sumy oblast. According to Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the shelling wounded a 57-year-old man and damaged 5 apartment buildings, 3 private houses, 5 cars and a power line.

The RMA announced the opening of a modular emergency medical station in Okhtyrka. The station is designed to accommodate 3 emergency teams and provide service to residents of Okhtyrka and nearby locations, including near-border settlements. The modular station was installed in partnership with the World Health Organization.

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of the RMA, informed that Sumy oblast plans to establish community health centres. The community medical centre will combine primary health care with the most common services of the outpatient program of medical guarantees, which are extremely important for the near-border area. 

Chernihiv oblast

The enemy attacked a bakery’s vehicle with drones while it was unloading food near the store in a village in Novhorod-Siverskyi region. According to the National Police, the driver, born in 1994, sustained a mild concussion as a result of the explosions. The car and the store premises were damaged.

According to the State Border Guard Service report, on 17 April, russian troops shelled the border of Chernihiv oblast five times with a total of 22 attacks from mortars and cannon artillery. Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk communities were attacked.

The Chernihiv Regional Military Administration informed about the finish of the search and rescue operation at the site of the rocket attack in Chernihiv. As a result of the russian terrorist attack, 18 people were killed and 78 wounded (including 4 children), three people rescued from the rubble. 37 people currently remain hospitalised.

According to the MIA data, Chernihiv police received over 300 reports from people whose homes and property were damaged or destroyed by the russian attacks. Investigation teams conducted 304 inspections of damaged apartments or buildings and 62 of cars. Law enforcement officers continue to help people, document war crimes and eliminate the consequences of the enemy attack.

A blast wave from a missile strike on Chernihiv on 17 April  damaged the central building of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, blowing out all the windows and doors. Several teachers were injured. For the time being, the university will provide online education.

Police lieutenant Alina Mykolaiets was among those killed in the missile strike on Chernihiv. She was at home on sick leave when the enemy attacked. The police officer received a fatal shrapnel wound. Alina was 25 years old and had been serving in the police since June 2023 as an inspector of the Patrol Police Response Unit.

In Chernihiv, 17 April 2024 was declared a Day of Mourning to commemorate the victims of the rocket attack by russian troops.

RMA announced the provision of computer equipment from UNICEF into 50 educational institutions in Chernihiv oblast. 259 laptops will be provided for temporary use to children from IDP families, children with disabilities, children from low-income families or deprived of parental care and children from other vulnerable categories. The equipment was purchased and delivered with the support of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that at night an enemy drone was shot down over the oblast. The Shahed was destroyed by the AIr Defence Forces in Kryvyi Rih region. 

The enemy also launched 4 kamikaze drones on Nikopol region, hitting Myrove community. Private houses, a car, a garage, outbuildings and a gas pipeline were damaged.

During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region 13 times, launching 10 drones and almost two dozen artillery shells and hitting Nikopol, Myrove, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. Infrastructure facilities, an agricultural company, 9 private houses, 3 outbuildings, 2 garages and a power line were damaged. The russians launched a missile attack on Dnipropetrovsk oblast, injuring 2 men, who were hospitalised in a moderate condition.  There were 2 fires which were extinguished. An infrastructure facility and an enterprise were damaged.

2 servicemen from Nikopol were posthumously awarded: Senior Sergeant Oleksii Satin received the Order For Courage of the III degree and Oleksandr Zhukovskyi received the Golden Cross badge.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsiaoblenerho introduces a schedule for limiting power consumption for industry in the oblast.

Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that the oblast is launching a joint project with German-brother city of Karlsruhe. The project is aimed at overcoming the infrastructural challenges that arose as a result of the war in Vinnytsia.

Kirovohrad oblast

Soldier Yurii Mudrii from Kropyvnytskyi is posthumously awarded a state order. A 34-year-old soldier was killed a year ago in Luhansk oblast during an artillery attack. 

Poltava oblast

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an UAV was shot down in Poltava oblast at night.

Cherkasy oblast

In Lebedivka village of Cherkasy oblast, a memorial stand was set up in honour of fallen defender Mykhailo Voloshchenko.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday the occupiers attacked 7 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast 235 times. The enemy conducted 2 aviation strikes with guided air bombs on Mala Tokmachka and Levadne. 20 UAVs attacked Huliaipole, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 5 MLRS shelling hit Levadne, Mala Tokmachka, and Robotyne. There were 208 artillery bombardments on Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne and Malynivka. 20 reports of housing damage were received. Civilians were unharmed.

The occupiers carried out 4 assaults towards Orikhiv, 2 near Staramaiorske, and 1 each near Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka. They were unsuccessful.

The Berdiansk border guard unit reported that they repelled a massive russian attack with over 14 drones rowards Zaporizhzhia. 

The special unit Kabul 9 of the Chief Intelligence Directorate discovered and destroyed nine units of military transport and a field ammunition depot during two days of operation on the Zaporizhzhia front. Among the destroyed equipment were UAZ and KAMAZ vehicles, a pickup truck with a turret, and a fuel truck.

Sowing campaign continues in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Farmers have already sown 10,000 hectares of early grain crops. At the same time, they are preparing the soil for sowing nearly 125,000 hectares of corn and sunflower.

A centre was opened for youth who have been forced to leave temporarily occupied territories in Zaporizhzhia. People will be able to attend various events and use audio and computer equipment in there. The Youth Center for Displaced Youth initiative is being implemented by the People.UA NGO with the support of the UNDP in Ukraine and the financial support of the European Union.

Professional psychologists conducted mental health training for young people in Zaporizhzhia. The training was held as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “How are you?”, initiated by Olena Zelenska. About 50 college and university students underwent training.

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, reported that on 17 April, at 5:20pm, 5:44pm, and 6:30pm, the enemy conducted mortar shelling in the waters of Ochakiv community. As a result, 4 people sought medical care. All of them received outpatient medical care. Also, at 6:43pm, there was enemy artillery shelling in the waters of Kutsurub community. There were no casualties reported.

According to the press service of Mykolaiv RMA, agrarians in Mykolaiv oblast received support from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in combating potential threats to preserve the harvest. This year, the oblast expects to receive 113 grain storage modules with a total capacity of 48,300 tonnes.

Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, discussed potential areas of cooperation with Vitas Lyudzhus, Director of the furniture manufacturing company UAB DUV, a representative of the LITUA fund, and Mindaugas Kasmauskis, Director of the plywood manufacturing company UAB Likmerė. Among the promising directions is the program’s expansion for equipping shelters with modular furniture.

Odesa oblast

According to Odesa RMA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, UNICEF provided 585 laptops to ensure that students of middle and high school age in Odesa oblast have access to quality education. The equipment was handed over to the education authorities of the territorial communities in oblast. Each set includes headphones, a mouse and a bag. 

In Odesa, on the ascent to the Health Track, famous American artists John Ashbaugh and Tristan George (Johnny and Bandit) decided to paint a mural as part of the charitable project Resilient Colors. The charitable project was launched in 2023. In autumn, the artists painted 14 murals in Ukraine: in Irpin, Bucha, Dmytrivka, Borodianka, Kharkiv and Izium. “We are painting beauty on the ruins because the russians make the world worse, and we try to make it a little more beautiful“, Johnny explains. Guests from the USA are awaiting permission from the authorities to create a mural at another location in Odesa.

Kherson oblast

Today, the russian army shelled Lvove in Tiahynka community. Occupiers fired over 20 shells at the settlement. The school building was damaged, and a private house caught fire.

Yesterday the enemy shelled Mykhailivka, Beryslav, Novotiahynka, Chaikyne, Antonivka, Zmiivka, Havrylivka, Ivanivka and the city of Kherson. Two private houses, an administrative building and a private car were damaged. 16 people were injured due to russian aggression. Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 1 Shahed-131/136 drone over the oblast during the night drone attack.

It is reported that the enemy carried out 5 assaults towards the stronghold near Krynyky on the left bank of the Dnipro River, in the temporarily occupied Kherson oblast. After suffering losses, they retreated to their original positions.

The warriors of the 73rd Marine Special Operations Center destroyed the occupiers and their ammunition depot. During reconnaissance operations, they discovered the location of enemy military personnel and their ammunition depot. The defenders destroyed ammunition bunkers, three enemy military personnel (five more were wounded), and the enemy’s personnel location.

ZMINA Human Rights Center reports that russia has initiated criminal proceedings against activist Iryna Horobtsova from Kherson, who has been illegally held in Simferopol detention center No. 2 for over two years. She is charged with “espionage”. According to ZMINA, russia is pressuring Ukraine by opening and falsifying criminal cases against illegally abducted civilians.

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that about 37% of the right bank of Kherson oblast has already been cleared of mines. More than a thousand sappers continue to work to make our region safer. 

Over 45,000 residents of the region have already taken advantage of the opportunity to move to safer areas. Among them are more than 6,000 children and 450 people with limited mobility. The Coordination Headquarters for Mandatory Population Evacuation in Conditions of Martial Law assists local residents with departure, temporary housing search and provides humanitarian, legal, and psychological support. Several volunteer organisations are also involved in the evacuation.

More than 20 residents of Kherson received materials for quick repairs of houses damaged by russian shelling. This became possible thanks to the support of UNHCR Ukraine – the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.

Eurointegration Office Regional Development Agency in Kherson oblast announced that it is resuming its work. The strategy for development for 2024-2026 focuses on decentralisation promotion, community rebuilding, business support and investment attraction.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that the community sent a portable radio-electronic means of combating KVERTUS AD COUNTER FPV unmanned aerial vehicles to the A4025 unit.

Zakarpattia oblast

About €200,000 will be allocated by American partners to support the aerial reconnaissance unit Birds of Madiar. This was discussed during an online meeting of Vasyl Ivanch, Deputy Chairman of the RMA, Yurii Huzynets, Head of Uzhhorod oblast, Robert Brovdi, Commander of the air reconnaissance unit Birds of Madiar, and Alex Davern, businessman from the US.  

Uzhhorod Mayor Bohdan Andriiev met with Hero of Ukraine Oleh Honcharuk and handed the soldier a donation contract for an apartment in Uzhhorod. The Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine served for five years in the 128th Separate Mountain-Assault Zakarpattia Brigade, almost three of them as a commander. Now he continues to defend the state from the russian invaders.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

A meeting of the RMA mobile working group with families of fallen Heroes took place in Dolynsk community. They discussed a number of issues faced by relatives of the deceased, specifically, regarding the work of military medical commissions, the appointment of social benefits for family members of deceased soldiers, obtaining certificates, providing social guarantees, free treatment for the families of the deceased, rehabilitation and prosthetics of the wounded, the provision of benefits and subsidies, specifically, to pay for housing and communal services.

Lviv oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Martin Harris, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Ukraine. They discussed the defence capacity of Ukraine.

A meeting of the Coordination Center under Lviv RMA was held. They discussed employment of IDPs.

Lviv paratroopers received a complex of reconnaissance and destruction Pulstron, new pass-through pickups, FPV drones with a warhead, unmanned aerial systems, communication and control tools, backup power, etc., worth UAH 50m, thanks to the Return Alive CF and OKKO.

Lviv City Council reported that the community sent 53 Mavic 3T/3 drones and 6 generators worth UAH 9.4m, to the defenders.

The finance department of Lviv oblast reported that the oblast received over UAH 23m from the reserve fund of the state budget to compensate the costs of communal institutions that harboured IDPs.

Rivne oblast

432 families of Rivne oblast received loans for the purchase of housing. The total amount of the mortgage is UAH 589m. The largest number of loans were received by servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, veterans, and representatives of other security forces (267).

Representatives of Rivne City Council visited the soldiers of the 130th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The military received a SUV, an eco flow generator, charging stations, and many other important items from the International Humanitarian Hub Rivne.

Rivne announced another purchase of 47 DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopters and additional batteries for them for the Armed Forces. For this, a tender for UAH 10m was announced. The auction will take place on 26 April, so bids are currently being accepted.

Ternopil oblast

The Executive Committee of Ternopil City Council decided to pay a one-time monetary aid in the amount of UAH 10,000 for the provision of equipment and technical means to 280 military communities. And also 8 defenders from Ternopil will receive one-time monetary assistance in the amount of UAH 10,000 for treatment and rehabilitation.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

During the air alarm signal, the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 2 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type. There were neither casualties nor injuries, nor property damage.

Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that the community sent 80 FPV drones for one special unit of the Defense Forces.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi RMA sent the first 100 drones manufactured by the Bukovyna enterprise. FPV drones were purchased for the 107th brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces. They are certified and passed all necessary tests. UAH 3.9m was allocated from the regional budget for the purchase of drones. Their total number is 250 units. The rest are planned to be transferred in the near future.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Germany, following the example of the Czech Republic, will start a coalition to help Ukraine and will look for means of air defence. Annalena Berbok, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, and Boris Pistorius, Defense Ministers, appealed to NATO and EU partners, as well as third countries, to seriously check once again whether there are additional systems that can be transferred to Ukraine immediately.

The meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council will take place on 19 April. Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the Alliance, responded to the request of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, regarding the convening of the Council against the backdrop of a shortage of air defence systems and their missiles. Stoltenberg said that when choosing between aid to Ukraine and their own armaments, the members of the Alliance should choose Ukraine.

The full text of the draft law on assistance to Ukraine was published on the website of the House of Representatives. The document provides for over $60bn in aid, of which $23bn is to replenish the US arsenal. As for economic aid, the draft law provides for the allocation of $7.85bn in loans by 30 September 2025. According to the draft law, the US President must provide ATACMS missiles to Ukraine if he considers that this will not harm the national security and interests of the US.

The Iris-T manufacturer promised to transfer another such air defence system to Ukraine. Helmut Rauch, Head of the Diehl Defense arms company, who is currently in Kyiv together with Robert Habeck, German Vice Chancellor, announced the transfer of the Iris-T system to Ukraine in the next few weeks.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, held a phone conference conversation with Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General. They discussed the state of implementation of initiatives regarding the supply of projectiles for Ukraine.

Yuliia Sokolovska, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with Felix Baumann, Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine, Simon Heissbuller, Head of the Office for Peace and Human Rights, Ambassador of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, and their colleagues. They discussed the return of illegally deported and forcibly displaced Ukrainian children by russia, their support and social support after that. They also focused on the issue of reparations, specifically regarding the mechanism of payments and accounting of victims as a result of the full-scale russian invasion.

This morning, Ukraine is receiving emergency aid from Romania, Poland and Slovakia due to a deficit in the energy system. Shutdown schedules are in effect in Kharkiv oblast, for industry in Kryvyi Rih and Donetsk oblast.

The 1st Summit of the European Association of Women of Ukraine was held in Brussels. From 14 to 16 April, in the walls of the European Parliament, over 60 activists and leaders of 30 public women’s organisations operating throughout Europe discussed key issues related to the protection and support of women’s initiatives in the EU. Special attention was paid to the support of Ukrainian women who were forced to leave their homes because of the war.
