Over 15 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Druzhba, Zalizne, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Avdiivka, the enemy conducted offensives in the vicinity of Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast to no success. The settlement of Avdiivka suffered an enemy air strike. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at about 10x settlements, including Stepove, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, Nevelske, Keramik, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Mariinka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled as many as 10 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Mariinka. They launched an airstrike near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast, where the enemy continued to shell artillery and mortars. The first civilian ships passed through the temporary corridor to Ukrainian ports. Bulk carriers RESILIENT AFRICA and AROYAT have confirmed their readiness to use the itinerary to enter the port of Chornomorsk to load almost 20K tons of wheat for the countries of Africa and Asia.
Ukrainian servicemen liberated the settlement of Klischiivka towards Bakhmut, Donetsk oblast. Stabilization measures are currently underway there.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that towards Lyman-Kupiansk, various models of russian weapons have been spotted. They are “covering holes” using Soviet weapons that are more than 60 years old and should have been written off by now. The enemy has problems with personnel: volunteer formations such as Veterans, Wolves, Lynxes, Bears, Español are fighting with up to a thousand soldiers but there is no cooperation and poor coordination between these groups.
In the east, the enemy accumulated 150K soldiers, about a thousand tanks, approximately three thousand armoured combat vehicles, approximately one thousand artillery systems and over 600 MRLs.
The press service of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that russian troops shelled Podoly village at around 12 pm. According to preliminary information, the attack was conducted with artillery. A direct hit damaged an apartment building, neighbouring private households and cars.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the enemy launched a missile attack on Kharkiv last night at about 12:30 pm. Four S-300 guided missiles hit the building of a civilian enterprise. A fire broke out.
Also russians struck Kharkiv with 5 Iskander K cruise missiles yesterday at about 11:10 am. Civilian buildings and private buildings were damaged, and fires broke out. Six civilian men were injured. They were hospitalised in moderate condition.
Yesterday the enemy attacked settlements of Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk and Izium regions.
Between Hlyboke and Strilecha villages in Kharkiv region, russian invaders struck a civilian car with a guided anti-tank missile at about 11:30 am. A man and a woman in the car were killed on the spot. Another 72-year-old man, who was in the car, was injured. He was hospitalised in critical condition.
A 23-year-old man was injured as a result of the shelling of Petropavlivka village, Kupiansk region.
The villages of Khatnie and Podoly villages of Kupiansk region, Kozacha Lopanbof Kharkiv region, Shyikivka of Izium region, Ivashky of Bohodukhiv region, Vovchansk of Chuhuiv region and other settlements were also under enemy attacks during the day. Private buildings, outbuildings and commercial premises were damaged and fires broke out.
Yesterday, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 3.7 hectares of territory and defused 84 explosive ordnance.
Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that yesterday russian troops used various artillery systems 590 times towards Bakhmut, there were 16 engagements and the invaders attacked three times from the air. More than fifty thousand russian troops are fighting there. The losses of russian russians towards Bakhmut reach up to 280 eliminated soldiers, two in captivity, two D-20 cannons, one D-30 cannon, six military vehicles, one command and observation post, two observation posts for Buk missile system and a ZALA UAV. There are 52K russian troops fighting in this frontline and they have approximately the following equipment and weapons: 274 tanks, more than 1K armoured vehicles, 150 artillery systems and just over 120 MRLs.
Towards Volnovakha, russians attacked Vuhledar 18 times, with no casualties.
Towards Donetsk, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Maksymilianivka of Marinka community were shelled. In the morning, Avdiivka was massively shelled with artillery, damaging two streets.
Towards Horlivka, an industrial building and 2 private buildings were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. The outskirts of Illinivsk community were under attack.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, informed that 1654 people remain in the city. Five residents were evacuated over the past week. Avdiivka is preparing for the heating season with potbelly stoves and firewood. The community is also waiting for a government subvention to buy firewood for critical infrastructure and vulnerable residents.
The National Resistance Centre stated that buses and trucks are being removed from mines in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts for the needs of russian forces.
Aghasi Barseghyan, a farmer and head of Armenian diaspora in Kostiantynivka, was injured more than ten days ago when he was returning from his farm. The critically injured man managed to drive his car to a hospital in Kostiantynivka, saving the lives of two other people who were travelling with him. Doctors amputated Aghasi’s leg. He is currently in a hospital in Dnipro.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk RMA, notes that in Starobil rajon, summons are delivered to men by address. Thus, in Pidhorivka, even the absence of a russian passport is not a reason not to obtain one. What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
The military 135th battalion of Territorial Defense Forces conducted training in Obukhiv region to prepare the civilian population for national resistance. The boy who survived the russian missile attack on Vinnytsia has started dancing again. Roman and his mother were in a medical centre in Vinnytsia when the Russians struck the House of Officers on 14 July 2022. The child’s mother died on the scene, her body was identified a few days after the tragedy. Roman sustained burns to 80% of his body.

Yesterday, the russian army launched 100 strikes on 20 populated areas in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian military personnel conducted 5 MLRS attacks on Hulyaiplske, Novodarivka, Chervone, and Mali Shcherbaky, as well as 4 UAV attacks on Zliznychne, Novodarivka, and Mali Shcherbaky. They also dropped 5 aviation bombs on Orikhiv and Preobrazhenka. Additionally, there were 86 artillery strikes on towns and villages near the front, including Hulyaipole, Novodanylivka, Bilohiria, Levadne, Olhivske, Shcherbaky, Stepove, Piatykhatky, Prymorske, and Kamianske. On September 16, Ukrainian defense forces made advances in the western part of the Zaporizhzhia oblast and continue to break through russian defenses. This information comes from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in the United States. Geolocation footage indicates that Ukrainian forces moved along the russian defense to the west of Robotyne (10 km south of Orikhiv) and to the west of Verbove (18 km southeast of Orikhiv). Over the past few weeks, Ukrainian forces have likely made significant tactical progress along this section of the current russian defense line in the vicinity of Robotyne and are continuing to expand it. On September 16, there was a traffic accident in the temporarily occupied city of Berdiansk involving russian military personnel. A car driven by russians struck two people on a pedestrian crossing: a woman was killed on the spot, and a young man sustained injuries and was hospitalized. A large-scale international MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) tournament titled “Unbreakable Defenders” took place in one of the nightclubs in Odesa, featuring well-known professional fighters. The tournament included a total of 9 matches, including six in MMA and three following K1 rules. Additionally, there were auctions held to raise funds for the Ukrainian army. Prizes included a tube from howitzers with artwork by the artist Art Bendas and items from the Grad rocket, directly from the front lines. However, the highlight of the evening was the Ukrainian flag with the autograph of a living legend, Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Marchenko, who halted the invaders’ advance in southern Ukraine with his orders. This flag was successfully sold at auction for 400K Ukrainian hryvnias. The organizers managed to raise over a million hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and boost the morale of our soldiers.
The fifth ship carrying agricultural products and metals has departed from Ukraine following the rupture of the grain deal by russia and its blockade of Ukrainian Black Sea ports. The dry cargo ship PUMA left the port of Odesa with 30K tons of rapeseed and metal. This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov.
Today, the russian army shelled Sadove. A law enforcement officer suffered a back injury as a result of the shelling. Additionally, around 14:50, the occupiers attacked Tomyna Balka, where a man born in 1954 was fatally injured. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene confirmed his death. The city of Kherson was targeted with 13 shells. russian forces aimed at residential neighborhoods in populated areas of the region, as well as an educational institution and two hydraulic structures in Beryslav region. One person was injured due to russian aggression.
A tractor driver ran over a russian landmine in the field in the village of Maksyma Horkoho in Beryslav region. As a result of the explosion, the 45-year-old man suffered shrapnel wounds to the head, right eye injury, blunt abdominal trauma, chest injuries, leg injuries, and third-degree burns. He was hospitalized in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. It is also known that a 26-year-old man was injured and hospitalized in moderate condition.
The 15th social route “Novokairy – Novovorontsovka” has been reopened in Kherson oblast. This route had not been operational for a year and a half due to hostilities in Novovorontsovka community area. From September 1, 2023, the implementation of the Multisectoral Humanitarian aid for IDPs, Returnees, Veterans and their Host Communities in Ukraine international project began in Volyn. The project will be implemented with the support and assistance of the Volyn Perspectives NGO. The implementation of the project will last until December 31, 2024. The project is implemented with the support of the European Disability Forum and the Christian Mission of the Blind. Its goal is to improve living conditions and ensure access to inclusive humanitarian aid.
The Owl’s Nest humanitarian aid center issued humanitarian aid to IDPs, namely: 60 packages with essential items for children under 2 years of age, 100 food kits, 50 hygiene kits, as well as clothes, bed linen and dishes (a total of 2,4K units were issued) thanks to PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. With the funds of international donors, 2 houses will be built in Prykarpattia for large foster families who were left without housing because of the war. These are single-story buildings, barrier-free and energy-efficient. The area of each house is 285,5 m2. Social housing built within the project is transferred to the balance of the community. Families will be able to live in it for as long as their large adoptive family exists. Ivano-Frankivsk oblast is included in the list of 8 oblasts of Ukraine where the Childhood Address project is implemented, initiated by Olena Zelenska, First lady of Ukraine. It is planned to build homes for 14 families who have adopted 5 orphans and children deprived of parental care.
Over 20 defenders of Ukraine climbed Mount Klyuch in the Skoliv Beskydach. Among them was 20-year-old Andrii Holopapa, who made his way to the top with a prosthesis. He lost his leg on October 25, 2022 near Horlivka. Prosthetics took place at the Superhumans Center. Vasyl Nikorak lost his right lower limb near the village of New York in Donetsk oblast. The background for the drawing was the map of Ukraine. The mural was created as part of the City Workshop 2023 urban planning festival.

In October, Invincibility Centers will resume their work. Currently, their inventory is being carried out in the oblast – the necessary inventory is checked, fuel and firewood are purchased, and the planned number of objects is compiled. Last year Invincibility Centers provided assistance to over 43,5K residents of Rivne oblast.
From October 1, 135 Invincibility Centers will be operational in Ternopil oblast. All territorial communities have been instructed to conduct an inventory of available material and technical resources.
The RMA reported that a charity run was held in Khmelnytskyi in support of defenders. Anyone could take part in the race for a charitable contribution of UAH 100 or more. Thus, the military, residents of the city and oblast, as well as representatives of communal institutions joined the marathon.

North Macedonia expels 3 russian diplomats. This is already the third such decision of the country since February 2022. In total, Macedonia expelled at least 11 russian diplomats.
The russian federation spends about $300 mln on the war with Ukraine every day. According to Forbes calculations, which were based on data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the direct military costs and the cost of lost russian equipment during 18 months of the war amount to about $167,3 billion, excluding constant defense expenditures. In January-June 2023, more was spent than planned to spend for the whole year 2023. Despite this, russia is doubling its military budget, and the value of a russian soldier is becoming less and less.
At the 2023 Invincible Games in Dusseldorf, Germany, Ukraine won a record number of awards for the entire history of its performances. The heroes won 34 medals: 12 gold, 14 silver and 8 bronze. This year, about 600 athletes from 22 countries took part in the competition. Ukraine was represented by 25 participants: servicemen and veterans of the Armed Forces, National Guard, National Police and volunteer battalions.
