War in Ukraine today: latest news, March 24, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 760th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

During the day of March 24, there were 52x tactical engagements. 

The enemy launched a total of 32 missile and 47 air strikes, as well as  48 MLRS attacks on positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Residential apartment blocks and private houses got destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noitced. 

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the russian areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy troops conduct subversion in order to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas. The enemy continues shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Peremoha and Popivka (Sumy oblast). More than 15 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Bleshnya (Chernihiv oblast), Sorokyne, Bachivs’k, Starykove, Volfyne, Popivka (Sumy oblast), Veterynarne, Borysivka, Ambarne, and Strilecha (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, no enemy offensive operations were reported. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 assaults in the vicinity of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), where the enemy, using air attacks, made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Serebrianka forestry (Luhansk oblast), Ozerne (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Makiivka, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Serebryanka, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 attacks in the vicinities of Klishchiivka, Bohdanivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Zalizne (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Vasyukivka, and 

Chasiv Yar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 attacks in the vicinities of Berdychi, east of Umanske, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Ocheretyne and Novokalynove (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Oleksandropil, Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, and Semenivka, (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the invaders, using air attacks, made 17 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy, with air support, conducted 2 attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Makarivka, Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast), Malynivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Poltavka, Rivnopil, Charivne, Orikhiv, and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations. The occupiers launched MLRS strikes at the settlements of Kosatske, and Poniativka (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 8 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment.

The Ukrainian Rocket Forces hit 2 air defense systems, 3 artillery systems, and 1 electronic warfare station of the russian invaders.


Serhii Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, reports that almost 7, 000 fortifications were built in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The process continues.  

According to the Defense Forces of the South, at night, russia again targeted the port infrastructure of Ukraine. In two waves, the enemy sent attack drones, trying to attack in a wide strip from the south of Odesa to Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were no russian assault actions towards Kupiansk. More than 14 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under artillery and mortar attack.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy reported that hourly power cuts have been introduced for 200,000 customers in Kharkiv. The reason is that the situation with electricity remains the most difficult.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that the Kharkivoblenerglho JSC has started to apply emergency outage schedules. Their adjustment is ongoing, taking into account the difficult situation in the power grids of Kharkiv oblast.

Viacheslav Markov, Assistant Chief of police in the oblast, said that russians opened fire on a vehicle that was carrying humanitarian aid to the frontline areas of Kharkiv oblast. According to him, the vehicles were attacked by mortars. Markov and volunteers were in the car. The police press service added that it happened in Kupiansk region.

The day before, at 5:45pm, the enemy fired at a private enterprise in Slobidskyi district. A total of 4 premises and 2 cars were hit. There were no casualties.

About 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered artillery and mortar attacks yesterday: Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Holubivka, Dvorichna, Synkivka and others. Zemlianky, Potykhonove, Bolohivka and Kyslivka were targeted by airstrikes.

At 2:08am, Kupiansk was under enemy attack. A private house was burning, there were no casualties.

At 11:03pm, a private house and a car were damaged as a result of the shelling of Kupiansk. A 43-year-old man was injured.

At 10:35pm, the enemy shelled Slobozhanske village, Kharkiv region, by MRLs. A private house was damaged. There were no casualties.

At 10:35pm, a car was burning, 2 private houses and two outbuildings were also damaged in Kupiansk as a result of a series of shelling. There were no casualties.

At 9:52pm, a private house was damaged during the shelling in Vovchansk. There were no casualties.

At 2pm, a private house was damaged during the shelling of Vovchansk. There were no casualties.

At 1:30pm, there was a shelling of Novoosynove village, Kupiansk region. The shell hit the territory. There were no casualties.

At 9:58am, Vovchanski Khutory village, Chuhuiv region, was under enemy artillery attack. Two private houses were damaged and a 72-year-old man killed.

The enemy did not launch any offensive towards Kupiansk.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 24.47 hectares of mines and destroyed 373 explosive ordnance.

As of today, 157 children have been evacuated from two communities: 37 from Vilkhuvatka and 120 from Velykyi Burluk.

Up to 200,000 customers in the city are currently disconnected. Power engineers continue to work 24/7 to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 70 russian attacks on the frontlines of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts on 23 March. The russian army attacked with the support of aviation towards Lyman and Novopavlivka.

Serhii Tsehotskyi, an officer with the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade named after Yakiv Handziuk,. informed that the intensity of russian assaults towards Avdiivka has decreased over the past few days and the russian army has no success. At the same time, the russian military has increased the number of different types of aircraft, including reconnaissance drones.  

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that the enemy attacked Krasnohorivka twice. As a result, three people were injured. They were taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds and bruises.

Towards Pokrovsk, 2 people were injured and 11 houses damaged in Kurakhivka; 6 houses damaged in Kurakhove. 2 people were injured in Myrnohrad. In Ivanivka of Hrodivka community, 1 house was completely destroyed, 2 partially destroyed and 5 damaged.

Towards Kramatorsk, the Lyman community was under numerous shelling and as a result, 11 houses were completely destroyed: 6 in Ivanivka, 3 in Terny, 1 in Lyman and Yampolivka; 15 houses were damaged: 5 in Terny and Yampolivka, 3 in Lyman, 1 in Zarichne and Ivanivka. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka community were hit.

Towards Bakhmut, a shop in Toretsk and an infrastructure facility in Shcherbynivka were damaged. 7 private houses in Chasiv Yar community and 1 in Siversk were damaged.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, confirmed that in total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 14 times. 1085 people, including 118 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Luhansk oblast

People from the de-occupied villages are constantly contacting about various problems. According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, representative of the military administration, who is on the ground, helps to resolve them. For instance, a woman from Makiivka needed to renew her payment card. She was helped to get to Sloviansk, where she was able to get a new card directly at a banking institution. Three other elderly villagers were taken to the nearest Ukrposhta branch to receive their current pensions. The villagers’ return home was also organised.

The enemy focused its main attack on Bilohorivka, where aviation joined the assault. All enemy attempts were repelled. Makiivka and Nevske were also targeted.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, added that collaborators from the so-called “lpr” have repeatedly shown off new ambulances allegedly provided by russia, and the problem with calling an ambulance remains even in Luhansk. Unlike in frontline cities, doctors can be called over a mobile phone, there is no need to leave the house but this does not speed up the provision of assistance. Last week, a woman from Yuvileine, which has its own ambulance substation, became ill. But the ambulance arrived only three hours later, when the woman’s heart stopped. They explained that only one crew was on duty.

The work of social structures in the occupation is organised at approximately the same low level. In Sievierodonetsk, residents register with the pension fund two weeks in advance. Because the next opportunity will not appear again for at least 14 days.

A Happy Family – Happy Country celebration brought together more than 100 IDP children from Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts at the public space of the IDP shelter in Dnipro. Workshops were organised for the children to make a patriotic souvenir “I believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, a Ukrainian stylised wreath and patriotic bracelets. There was also an entertainment programme, competitions, and an exhibition of paintings by the residents of the shelter. The event was held as part of the Svitlo Kultury (Light of Culture) project in cooperation with the NGO Resource Centre with the support of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, reported that at night, russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. The air alert in Kyiv oblast lasted more than two hours. Air defence forces were operating in the oblast. Falling debris was seen in three regions of the oblast. A power line was damaged, leaving more than 400 homes without electricity. There were no hits to residential or critical infrastructure. 

Air defence forces shot down about ten missiles over Kyiv. The fragments of the downed missiles fell on the territory of forest areas in Desnianskyi district, and in Shevchenkivskyi district – on the territory of a park area and residential buildings. The facade of a multi-storey residential building was damaged.

According to Bucha City Council, a mission of independent OSCE experts visited Bucha to find out more about the crimes of the russian army. The mission members visited the sites of mass killings of civilians during the russian occupation, learned about the killings and torture of civilians committed by the russian military in the spring of 2022.

A new modular water treatment station is being built in Bucha with international support from UNDP, which will be able to operate autonomously during blackouts. It will purify water from artesian wells and supply it to the public network.

According to Anatolii Fedoruk, Mayor of Bucha, a hospital for physical rehabilitation of patients will be built in Vorzel by the end of 2024. The hospital will have a separate physical rehabilitation unit and expand its clinical research capabilities. The new medical facility will also have 3D printers to print prostheses for the Ukrainian military.

Kyiv is providing support to the Rubizh Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. With funds from the capital, the military purchased necessary equipment that will soon help them perform combat missions in the east of the country.

Bucha will open a new shopping centre on the site of a building destroyed during the full-scale russian invasion. This will bring more than UAH 30 million in taxes to the local budget annually and more than 600 jobs for the community.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the regional employment service, since the start of the full-scale war, Zhytomyr Regional Employment Service has issued 802 vouchers to residents of the oblast to help them acquire in-demand professions and specialities and increase their competitiveness in the labour market. 

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy RMA, russian troops fired 7 times at the border areas of Sumy oblast. There were 24 explosions – 3 air-, 19 mortar-, and 2 artillery attacks. Yunakivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda and Znob-Novhorodske communities were shelled.  

Over the past day, russians fired in Sumy oblast 31 times. There were 115 explosions. 8 communities came under fire: Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Shalyhyne, and Seredyna-Buda. The enemy attacked with mortars, artillery, ATGMs, FPV drones, and dropped VOG from UAVs. In addition, the russian military conducted 3 airstrikes on Seredyna-Buda community.

According to the North Operational Command, as a result of russian shelling on 23 March, 5 private houses were damaged in Vorozhba, 3 houses and a warehouse building were damaged in Yunakivka, and 1 house damaged in Krasnopillia. In Seredyna-Buda, 18 private houses were damaged as a result of shelling. 

According to the order of the Ministry of Reintegration of 8 March 2024, 18 communities of Sumy oblast and 4 villages of Putivl community belong to the territory of possible hostilities. 

The areas of possible hostilities include Shostka region (Seredyna-Buda, Shalyhyne, Esman, Druzhbivka, Znob-Novhorodske, Shostka, Hlukhiv, and Svesa communities); Okhtyrka region (Velyka Pysarivka and Okhtyrka communities); and Sumy region (Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Yunakivka, Vorozhba, Khotin, Myropillia, Mykolaivka communities);

Konotop region (Nova Sloboda community and the villages of Kozache, Malushyne, Myshutyno, Simeikyne of Putivl community). 

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service reported that russian troops shelled the communities of Semenivka and Snovsk. There were 11 mortar explosions. 

Chernihiv RMA reported that the first veterans’ space in the oblast, Unbreakable, was opened in Nizhyn. The hub offers free legal and psychological services; it has a gym, a children’s room, and a coffee shop. Various activities are planned. The hub was set up through joint efforts of the authorities and the public, including international grant support.

Solar power plants are being installed at Varvynsk Lyceum No. 1 and Nizhyn Secondary School No. 15 with funds from the Électricités Sans Frontières (Electricians Without Borders), and a NGO from France. They are to be installed in 9 more educational institutions in Chernihiv, Mena, Korop, Pryluky, Ripky and Bakhmach. 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that at night the enemy launched drones on the region. The falling debris in Kryvyi Rih damaged heating networks and power lines. Several boiler houses in the city are offline. 6 hospitals and more than 150 educational institutions were left without heating, as well as 3,000 houses, where 76,000 people live in total. In Nikopol region, the wreckage of a downed drone damaged a power facility. More than 3,000 consumers in Nikopol and more than 6,400 in the region lost power. Also yesterday in the evening, the enemy attacked the communities of Marhanets and Pokrovsk, Nikopol region, with artillery. 

Due to the nighttime attack by a Shahed, emergency shutdown schedules are being introduced  in Kryvyi Rih region. About 15,000 families in Kryvyi Rih are currently without electricity.  All important institutions and critical infrastructure facilities are powered by generators. During the day the enemy carried out 18 attacks on Nikopol region, launched drones and fired from artillery. Nikopol itself, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrovsk communities were hit. Private enterprises, an apartment building, 7 private houses, a shop, an infrastructure facility were damaged, a garage destroyed, another garage damaged, 2 cars, as many outbuildings, 2 power lines and fences damaged. The Air Defence Forces also shot down an enemy drone in Pavlohrad region.

Construction of fortifications continues in Dnipropetrovsk region. So far, nearly 7,000 concrete pyramids have been installed in the oblast. Companies from Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts are engaged in the work.

Vinnytsia oblast

According to the RMA, in Vinnytsia region a swimming pool for rehabilitation of the wounded was inspected at a military hospital, which has resumed its work. The medical and recreational facility was repaired and restored owing to the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and Vinnytsia RMA. Patients with injuries and traumas, including complex ones, will be provided with a full cycle of health recovery protocols.​

Poltava oblast

The rally Do not be silent. Captivity kills was held. This is not the first time this event has been organized. About 20 people took part.

Cherkasy oblast

According to the City Council, Vatutine community received humanitarian aid from abroad. 

The aid was sent from Poland, Germany and the United States. The cargo of humanitarian aid consists of 4 functional beds and mattresses, blankets, clothes and shoes, energy drinks, antiseptics, and medical gowns. The aid will be provided to the military, families in difficult life circumstances and IDPs.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Zaporizhzhya RMA reported that the russian army conducted 447 attacks on seven towns and villages in Zaporizhzhya oblast on 23 March. They fired 289 times from artillery at the territories of Gulyaypol, Robotyno, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne and Novoandriivka. 

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that towards Orikhiv, the russian army attacked the positions of the Armed Forces near Robotyno, Zaporizhzhya oblast, four times with the support of aviation. 

Mykolaiv oblast

In Mykolaiv oblast, the russian army launched rocket and artillery attacks on communities in Mykolaiv and Voznesensk regions over the past day. There were no casualties. 

On 23 March, the occupiers fired artillery shells at Kutsurub community and the water area of Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.

Vitaliy Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on the night of 24 March, units of the Air Armed Forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed three Shahed 131/136 drones.  

Odesa oblast

According to the Armed Forces of Southern Ukraine, on the night of 23-24 March, three Shaheds were shot down in Odesa oblast. They hit the port infrastructure in Izmail region. There were no casualties.

Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Regional State Administration, said that modern fortifications are being built in Odesa oblast, including trenches, dugouts, shelters for personnel and equipment in accordance with military planning and engineering standards, as well as more than 5,000 concrete pyramids installed as vehicle traps. The trenches are protected from leakage by waterproofing, reinforced with wood and mounding. 

The Armed Forces of Ukraine’s press service said that on the night of 24 March, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a missile strike against the russian occupiers in Crimea, which destroyed two large landing ships of the russian Black Sea Fleet, the Azov and Yamal, a communications centre and “several other facilities” in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol.

As a result of today’s missile strike, the russian invaders have only 7 amphibious ships left in the Black Sea, including those that were transferred from the Baltic and Northern Fleets on the eve of the invasion in February 2022:

  • 1 ship of Project 11711: Petr Morgunov (Northern Fleet of the russian federation);
  • 2 ships of Project 1171 “Tapir”: Nikolay Filchenkov and Orsk (both Black Sea Fleet);
  • 4 ships of Project 775: Korolev and Kaliningrad (both Baltic Fleet), Georgy Pobedonosets and Olenegorskiy Gornyak (both Northern Fleet).

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that on 23 March the russian military shelled 18 settlements in the Kherson region. A rocket attack was launched at Velyka Oleksandrivka community. Five private houses, an invincibility point, a shop and an outbuilding were damaged. Six people were injured. 

During a drone attack by the russian army in Kherson oblast, the Air Armed Forces destroyed a Shahed-131/136 drone.

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that on 23 March, 25 people were evacuated from Kherson oblast, including three children.  

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk office of the European Committee of the Regions was opened in Brussels. The presence of a representative office in the capital of the European Union will provide an opportunity to join the initiatives of the European Committee of the Regions, improve the city’s access to programs of the European Union and the attraction of resources, as well as promote the presentation of Lutsk on various European platforms.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that leaders of Zakarpattia oblast signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the construction of a rehabilitation centre for military personnel with the ViZa CF.

The oblast received a 50-seater bus for Augustyn Voloshyn Mizhhiria Lyceum No. 2 from the Czech region of Vysochyna and the ViZa CF. There are 660 students studying here who come to study both from Mizhhiria itself and from the surrounding villages.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk RMA operates the Regional Development Agency, the purpose of which is to attract foreign investments to the oblast, develop the economic potential of Prykarpattia and establish communication on this matter with territorial communities. The Strategy of Attracting Foreign Investments program has been developed, which provides an opportunity to submit an investment project. As a result, it is planned to create TOP-20 investment projects of the oblast, which will be offered to foreign investors, business associations, and the UkraineInvest office.

Lviv oblast

19 cruise missiles and 7 enemy attack drones flew into the area of ​​responsibility of the Zahid air defence complex tonight. Air defence soldiers shot down 8 rockets, and also destroyed all 7 drones. Some of them are in Lviv oblast. The rest are in other oblast. The area of ​​responsibility of Zahid is not only Lviv oblast, but also Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi oblast.

At night, enemy drones and rockets attacked a critical infrastructure object in Lviv oblast. A fire broke out. Firefighters are working on the spot.

In the morning, during an air alert, the enemy with MiG-31K hit Lviv oblast with a rocket. Previously, there were two hits on the same critical infrastructure facility that the invaders targeted at night. Firefighters who extinguished the fire were warned in time about the attack. They managed to move to a safe place.

Lviv City Council reported that the community sent 800 FPV drones to the military thanks to the Lion’s Revenge campaign.

Rivne oblast

Air defence forces were on alert in the oblast during the morning air strikes. An air target was shot down. No infrastructure damage or destruction was recorded. People were not injured.

Veterans of Rivne oblast won 19 awards at the All-Ukrainian Strong of Ukraine competition. 9 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze awards were won by veteran athletes from Rivne oblast. The military performed in five competitive disciplines. The Strong of Ukraine is the first all-Ukrainian competition in adaptive sports among veterans and active military personnel who received injuries and wounds during combat operations.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA reported that 5 teachers of the subject Defense of Ukraine from Ternopil oblast received honorary awards from the commander of the Zahid operational command.

Ternopil City Council sent 25 FPV drones to the front. In general, during February and March, the community sent over 1,000 drones in various directions

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In the oblast, primary work to eliminate the consequences of shelling on 22 March continues. Thanks to community work crews, the key damage has been removed. Commissions are working to draw up inspection reports of damaged buildings. The affected local self-government bodies and charitable organisations provided assistance in the form of polyethylene film, wooden beams, boards, OSB boards, tarpaulin, mounting foam, and tape.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi City Council reported that the community sent 2 EW and Starlink systems to the military.

8 generators of different capacities were sent to the military from the German organisation Lebensfahrten. The generators will be used by National Guard troops on the front lines and, if necessary, in the military unit. Devices are necessary equipment for providing electricity to the military, communication systems, and arranging the lives of the military.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Estonia announced a new military aid package worth €20m including recoilless anti-tank guns, explosives, various types of artillery ammunition, gas masks, sniper equipment and more.

Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands announced that in 2024, another €2b will be allocated for military support of Ukraine.

Finland will allocate €30m to the Czech initiative for the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine. Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Denmark, Canada, France and Belgium have also allocated funds under this initiative.

Boris Pistorius, Defence Minister, announced that Germany will cover the costs of 180,000 munitions as part of the Czech initiative to supply artillery shells to Ukraine.

Richard Marles, Minister of Defense of Australia, announced that the country joined the coalition of drones for Ukraine.

Sebastien Lecornu, French Defense Minister, announced that the KNDS Franco-German defence company will create a subsidiary in Ukraine.

The EU agreed on duty-free agricultural exports for Ukraine for one more year – until 5 June, 2025. This means the temporary suspension of import duties and quotas for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU. Such measures were introduced for the first time in 2022 to help Ukraine’s economy amid the war.

The Baltic countries, Poland and the Czech Republic called on the European Commission to ban the import of grain from the russian federation. It is emphasised that russia uses the profit from the export of grain to the EU to finance the war with Ukraine.

Yuliia Sokolovska, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Olha Budnik, Authorised Advisor to the President of the Fund of the President of Ukraine for the support of education, science and sports, held a meeting with the leadership of the British Council. They discussed further cooperation in the key areas of the Fund’s activities, and new joint projects and initiatives were also discussed.

Estonia expels an employee of the russian embassy from the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia emphasised in its statement that it is not going to tolerate hybrid operations of the russian federation aimed at the independence and sovereignty of the country.
