It has been the 746th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian army continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

On 10 March, there were 53 combat clashes.

The enemy launched a total of 3 missile and 74 air strikes, carried out 69 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in wounded civilians. Residential private and apartment buildings, as well as other infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia,there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. They launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Muraveinia, Kopiiky, Sinne (Sumy oblast), Velykyi Burluk, and Vovchansk (Kharkiv oblast). Around 30 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Kostobobriv, Huta-Studenetska (Chernihiv oblast), Stara Huta, Kopiiky, Popivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Strilecha, Starytsia, and Volokhivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted no offensives. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 assaults near Terny, Yampolivka, Spirne and Spirne (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, with air support, made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. They launched air strikes in the vicinities of Novojehorivka, Serebryans’ke forestry (Luhansk oblast), and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks in the vicinities of Klishchiivka, Andriivka and east of Chasiv Yar (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made attempts to improve their tactical situation. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Druzhba and Niu-York (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 attacks in the vicinities of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). The russian army launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Oleksandropil (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Berdychi, Semenivka, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the invaders, with air support, made 18 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The adversary launched air strikes near Vuhledar, Vodiane, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy conducted 3 attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders south of Novodarivka and northwest of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast), Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Poltavka, Chervone, Bilohiria, Robotyne, and Novodanylivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, Odesa operational-strategic group, the occupiers have not abandoned their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. The enemy conducted 1 attempt to assault positions of Ukrainian defenders. More than 30 settlements, including the city of Kherson, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, and Krynky (Kherson oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 10 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 2 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 electronic warfare station, and 2 air defense systems of russian invaders.


As a result of the night shelling in the south, an industrial facility and a power line were damaged. This was reported by the press service of the Southern Defense Forces and NPC Ukrenergo. Restoration work was carried out at the substations. 

Russia plans to launch an enterprise in the temporarily occupied territories. This was reported by the Center of National Resistance. We are talking about production on the basis of the facilities of the Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Donetsk.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the concentration of oil products in the city rivers in Kharkiv, Lopan and Udy is decreasing. The necessary measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences of the enemy attack on Nemyshlianskyi district of Kharkiv on 10 February.

About 20 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks yesterday: Hatyshche, Bochkove, Budarky, Dvorichna, Synkivka and others. The enemy launched airstrikes on Hraniv and Synkivka.

At 12:05am, the territory of a health camp was shelled in Bohodukhiv. As a result of the shelling, a minibus was on fire and one outbuilding damaged. There were no casualties.

At 7:44pm, Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, were under enemy attack. There were no casualties.

At 6pm, a 73-year-old man was killed in Volokhivka village, Chuhuiv region, as a result of the shelling.

At 4:43pm, Odnorobivka village, Bohodukhiv region, was hit. Three private houses were burning as a result of the shelling. There were no casualties.

At 3:04pm, a trade pavilion was burning as a result of the shelling of Vovchansk. There were no casualties.

At 11:47am, Nechvolodivka village, Kupiansk region, was shelled. There were no casualties.

The enemy did not conduct any offensive actions yesterday.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 12.27 hectares of mines and destroyed 323 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

During the day, 15 children and their families were evacuated.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the morning briefing that Ukrainian troops repelled 59 russian attacks on the frontlines of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, 46 of which were towards Avdiivka and Marinka. 

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, three people were killed as a result of today’s shelling of the oblast. At night, russians attacked Dobropillia with Shahed drones and in the morning, rescuers pulled the bodies of two people from the rubble of a house. In addition, the enemy shelled Chasiv Yar with artillery in the morning, killing a 66-year-old man. In Myrnohrad, the number of casualties of a missile attack increased to 12 injured and all the injured received the necessary medical assistance.

As of 6pm, firefighting operations in one of the buildings in Dobropillia are still ongoing after a russian drone hit at night. The fire in the second building with an area of 450m has been extinguished.

Towards Pokrovsk, a person was injured in Ocheretyne, 2 houses and a non-residential building damaged in Zhelanne. Also russians fired 3 S-300 missiles at Myrnohrad: at least 9 people, including 1 teenager, were injured, 9 apartment buildings and 27 cars damaged. Dobropillia was attacked by Shahed drones and as a result, 2 administrative buildings and 2 private houses were damaged.

Towards Kramatorsk, several private houses were damaged again in Terny of Lyman community. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka community were under attack.

Towards Bakhmut, 2 apartment buildings and an administrative building in Toretsk, 2 two-storey buildings in Zalizne were damaged. 9 private houses, 2 apartment buildings and an industrial building were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. A house and 2 non-residential buildings were damaged in Siversk.

In total, russians attacked settlements of Donetsk oblast 16 times. 134 people, including 23 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informed that russians killed 1 civilian in Chasiv Yar yesterday. Another 10 people were injured in the oblast over the day. 

Luhansk oblast

On 9 March, russians tried to advance near Terny, south of Nevske. Our troops are holding back all enemy attacks there. Nevske itself was under artillery attack.

The invaders launched airstrikes on Bilohorivka and Serebrianka forest. The day was calmer towards Kupiansk.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, for 20 days, more than 2,600 members of election commissions of the so-called “lpr” agitated for the pro-russian presidential candidate, conducting door-to-door visits. As a result, the local occupation election commission reported that 92.4% of the population was allegedly persuaded to vote through these and other measures. They claim that the work with citizens allegedly covered more than 94% of the total number of households in the territory of “lpr”.

As in Sievierodonetsk, checkpoints in neighbouring Rubizhne were intensified because of the elections, specifically, when entering or leaving the city. People’s personal data are checked against lists. Men are subjected to a more thorough inspection as the invaders will need them immediately after the vote.

Referring to the RMA, over a month, 641 reports of destroyed property were submitted by residents of Luhansk oblast. Residents of the oblast have already filed 44,111 information reports about real estate damaged or destroyed by russians.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, reported that soldiers of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed enemy personnel towards Kreminna.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, reported that at night, the enemy attacked the oblast with drones. The alert was announced twice and lasted more than three hours. There were no hits to residential or critical infrastructure, and no casualties. In one of the settlements, the blast wave damaged windows in a residential building.

A Kyiv utility company that services the transport of the City State Administration will help the military with vehicle repairs and re-equipment. A memorandum with the Unbreakable Hearts Irpin Volunteer Association was signed to strengthen defence capabilities.

According to Oleksandr Markushyn, Mayor of Irpin, Irpin community will have a free two-day training course on first aid. The training will take place on  16-17 March and will consist of two modules.

Kyiv city officials, in cooperation with the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, have launched the Sustainable City acceleration programme. The programme will bring together talented developers, designers, urbanists and other creative personalities to find innovative technological solutions aimed at increasing the sustainability of residential buildings in the city.

According to Kyivzelenbud, the benefactors have volunteered to help green Kyiv locations damaged as a result of russian attacks. Free plants will be provided for gardening in parks and squares. The planting will be carried out as part of the Post War Greening project. 

The Smart Future charity school has announced the enrolment of children aged 11-17 for free IT training. The courses will be organised online for children with disabilities, displaced children, those of anti-terrorist operation (ATO) participants, military personnel and other categories of citizens.

Zhytomyr oblast

On 9 March, at the Veterans’ Entrepreneurship Forum in Zhytomyr, veterans presented 6 business projects, which they started after leaving the Armed Forces and returning home. They also shared their practical experience on how to do this.

Serhii Soloviov, a puppeteer from Zhytomyr, performed a show for the military who are undergoing rehabilitation in a medical facility in Zhytomyr oblast. He presented his programme for psychological relief for the military.

Sumy oblast

At night and in the morning, russians fired 6 times at Sumy oblast. There were 29 attacks from MLRSs and mortars. Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled.

According to Sumy RMA, on 9 March, the russian military fired 45 times at the border areas. There were 222 explosions. Yunakivka, Khotin, Mykolaivka, Bilopillia, Myropil, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, and Svesa communities  came under enemy fire. The enemy attacked with mortars, artillery, MLRSs, FPV drones, dropped explosives from UAVs, and launched missiles from aircraft and helicopters. 

According to the State Border Guard Service, the threat of russian subversive reconnaissance groups remained in Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts in early March. Earlier, border guards observed a decrease in the activity of russian intelligence. On 7 March, a russian sabotage reconnaissance group with artillery support was eliminated in Sumy oblast.

Residents of Sumy oblast can leave their memories of what they experienced during the russian shelling on the Svidok platform. Testimonies will help draw the world’s attention to the events in Ukraine. The facts of the war crime, along with the attached photos and videos, will be submitted to the International Criminal Court and the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Chernihiv oblast

On 9 March, russians hit one of the households in the border community of Semenivka. The explosion injured a 51-year-old man who was hiding from shelling in a cellar. His legs were injured. Police officers, together with border guards, took the man out of the danger zone and evacuated him to hospital.

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, russian troops fired 11 times at the border of Chernihiv oblast.  The Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk communities came under enemy fire. There were 36 attacks by mortars, cannon artillery, and the dropping of explosive devices from UAVs.

The Dobrobat volunteer movement reported that a community centre in the village of Skorynets, Chernihiv oblast, will be rebuilt after it was destroyed by the russians. The volunteers were approached by the local community, whose residents want to rebuild the centre, which has always been a place of socialising and recreation for the villagers. The population of the village barely exceeds 250 people, but life is bustling there, despite the devastating russian attacks in the spring of 2022.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the enemy fired a missile at Novomoskovsk region. They hit an agricultural enterprise. A 58-year-old man was injured.

Also yesterday 2 helicopters were shot down in Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol regions. Nikopol oblast was also hit. They launched a kamikaze drone and shelled artillery. Nikopol itself and Marhanets community were hit. A sports facility in the region’s center was damaged. An enemy drone was shot down over Dnipro region.

In the afternoon the enemy attacked Nikopol region 13 times, launching kamikaze drones and firing artillery. The region’s center and Myrove community were hit. Two high-rise buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged. About 2000 homes were left without water.

Vinnytsia oblast

Serhii Borzov, Head of the RMA reported that last night in Vinnytsia region, as a result of air defense, the debris damaged an infrastructure facility causing a fire.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that at night the Air Defence Forces shot down a drone over Kirovohrad oblast.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava and Kremenchuk a rally was organized in support of war prisoners of Mariupol garrison and all captives and missing people.

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA announced that in Uman region, the defence forces shot down an enemy Shahed.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Zaporizhzhya Military Regional Administration reported that the russian army conducted 476 attacks on the towns and villages of Zaporizhzhia oblast on 9 March. In particular, there were airstrikes in Orikhiv, Novodanilivka and Robotyno, as well as drones, artillery and russian-made missiles were used in other settlements. 

The General Staff reported that eight attacks by the russian army were repelled by the Armed Forces towards Orikhiv east of Levadne, Robotyno and west of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration said that in Mykolaiv oblast, on 9 March, russian proxies shelled the town of Ochakiv and Stepivsk community with artillery. A private house was damaged. There were no casualties. 

On the night of 10 March, air armed forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed six Shahed 131/136 UAVs. The debris damaged a power line in Snihuriv community.

Odesa oblast

The Armed Forces of Southern Ukraine reported that 11 Shahed drones launched by the russian army at night of 10 March were shot down over Odesa oblast. One of the drones hit an industrial facility in Odesa region. The building was damaged. There were no casualties. 

The owners of the apartments destroyed on 2 March as a result of a russian drone hitting a high-rise building in Odesa will be able to receive compensation of $535 per square metre. The city council said it plans to dismantle the remains of the damaged section of the building.

Kherson oblast

Around 11:00am, the russian army attacked Antonivka with a drone. A 54-year-old man was injured. 

The Southern Armed Forces reported that during a nighttime drone attack by the russian army in Kherson oblast, the Air Defence Forces shot down two Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, said that on 9 March, the russian military shelled ten settlements in the oblast. Four high-rise buildings, nine private houses, an educational institution, a medical facility, a gas pipeline and cars were damaged. Three people were injured.

Kherson oblast hospitals received humanitarian aid from Médecins du Monde-France. Representatives of the foundation handed over the necessary medicines, medical supplies and equipment to the Novo Vorontsovka Primary Care Centre.

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, on 9 March, 37 people were evacuated from Kherson oblast, including six children. 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that in Warsaw, Poland, in the office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a solemn signing of the agreement on preparation for credit financing for the construction of a waste processing complex in Lutsk took place.

Zakarpattia oblast

Zakarpattia is building fortifications in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Builders and engineers are building a line of defense and military engineering and technical facilities, setting up barrier systems, etc. The operations are carried out around the clock, despite constant attacks by the enemy.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ruslan Martsinkiv, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, visited the 109th battalion, the tank battalion of the 10th mountain assault brigade, the 42nd brigade and the Sapsan tactical group of the 24th brigade. He handed over aid from Ivano-Frankivsk community to the 108th battalion, 45th artillery brigade, 7th rifle battalion and the Carpathian Sich unit. In total, defenders in Donetsk oblast received 230 FPV drones, generators, radio stations with batteries, EcoFlow, Mavics, Starlinks and food.

Ivano-Frankivsk community signed an agreement on cooperation with Pokrovsk military-civilian administration in Donetsk oblast. The agreement aims to support and cooperate with frontline communities.

Lviv oblast

Hlynian Community and the Strong Energy Zahid LLC sent 2 Eco Flow charging stations, 2 Starlink satellite systems, a gasoline generator and other necessary equipment, worth almost UAH 130,000 to the military.

The Interregional Forum, Strengthening Community Resilience in Oblasts of Ukraine, was held in Lviv oblast. Participants of the forum were representatives of the Embassy of Great Britain in Ukraine, the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine, RMA and local self-government bodies of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Rivne oblasts, as well as central executive bodies and organizations of civil society and business.

On the facade of Lviv school No. 86, 5 memorial plaques were opened in memory of Andrii Ivanochko, Ihor Zakharko, Valerii Dianov, Vladyslav Yakimov and Pavlo Malakhovskyi, who studied there and were killed in battles with the russian occupiers.

Rivne oblast

41 relocated enterprises operate in Rivne oblast. Most of them moved from Kharkiv and Kyiv oblasts. In particular, an enterprise from Kharkiv oblast relocated to Hoshch, besides ordinary clothing, also manufactures bags, cargo bags and winter jackets for the Armed Forces.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council sent nine Pulsar Axion thermal imagers worth UAH 465,000 and ten Motorola MotoTRBO radio stations worth UAH 359,000 to the military unit where Ternopil residents serve.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

At night, during an air alert, air defense forces neutralized 2 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type. There were no casualties or injuries. Infrastructure facilities were not damaged.

Heads of Ukrainian NPPs and the Paris Center of the World Association of Organizations Operating Nuclear Power Plants discussed important aspects of international cooperation between nuclear power plants. The purpose of the meeting was to sum up the results of the joint work of the past year, as well as consider proposals for activities for 2024.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that mobile fire brigades were formed in the oblast. UAH 16.5m was allocated from the regional budget for these needs.

Khotyn received assistance, specifically a 1 000 kVA powerful transformer substation, 500 meters of pipes for water supply networks, 32 garbage containers of different capacities, two drainage pumps and an electric perforator, from the partner city of Teltov. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The next meeting in the Rammstein format will be held on 19 March. Lloyd Austin, US Secretary of Defense, has once again invited defense ministers and senior military officials from around the world to discuss the war in Ukraine and various security challenges facing US allies and partners.

The Swiss Parliament supported the transfer of frozen assets of the russian federation to Ukraine. Over $8 b in reserves and assets of the Central Bank of russia are located in Switzerland.

The US State Department announced that the country joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, who were illegally deported by russia during the war. They will also take part in bringing the culprits to justice.

David Cameron, Head of the British Foreign Ministry, announced that the United Kingdom officially allows “ring exchange of missiles”. According to this exchange, Germany will send Taurus missiles to Great Britain, and London will provide Ukraine with additional Storm Shadows.

Volodymy Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey. An agreement was signed between governments of countries on the creation of a system of electronic exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles moving between parties.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Grant Shapps, State Secretary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for Defense Affairs. They discussed support and cooperation.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece. They discussed assistance in the restoration of civil infrastructure, in particular churches, educational institutions and objects of cultural heritage, destroyed as a result of the attacks of the russian federation.

Taras Shevchenko’s Testament was heard in the Hungarian Parliament. Liliana Hreksa, Spokeswoman of the Ukrainian national minority in the Parliament of Hungary, concluded her speech with a poem-message by the prominent Ukrainian poet. She urged Hungarian deputies to listen to the words that Taras Shevchenko wrote almost 180 years ago, to understand and feel why the Ukrainian people have been resisting russian aggression for centuries. Liliana Hreksa added that Ukrainians will not give up in the fight against the aggressor, because they do not want such a future for their children in their country, where the russian aggressor dictates.

A rally was held in the center of Warsaw for the International Day of Struggle for Women’s Rights. The Stand with Ukraine foundation wanted to thank 81% of Polish women who were involved in helping Ukraine and Ukrainians after February 24, 2022.
