It has been the 745th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 9 March, there were 58 combat clashes.

The enemy launched a total of 3 missile and 61 airstrikes, carried out 70 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in wounded civilians. Residential private and apartment buildings, as well as other infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinity of Hraniv (Kharkiv oblast). Around 40 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Yeline, Baranivka, Bleshnya, Buchky (Chernihiv oblast), Volfyne, Katerynivka, Zapsillya, Porozok (Sumy oblast), Huriv Kozachok, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky, and Ambarne (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted no offensives. The russian invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). They fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 assaults near Terny and Spirne (Donetsk oblast), where russian forces made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Novosadove, Terny, Yampolivka, and Mykolaivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Torske, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made attempts to improve their tactical situation. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, and Druzhba (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Mykolaivka, Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Niu-York (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks in the vicinities of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast). The russian army launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Oleksandropil, Novooleksandrivka, and Novobakhmutivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Prohres, Vovche, Zhelanne, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, and Umanske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, using air support, the invaders made 21 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The russian army launched airstrikes near Krasnohorivka, Maksymilianivka, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 20 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Berestky, Kostiantynivka, Antonivka, Katerynivka, Zolota Nyva, and Blahodatne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy conducted 6 attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Robotyne and west of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Malynivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky, and Prymorske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, Odesa operational-strategic group,  the enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 20 settlements, including the city of Kherson, Osokorivka, Beryslav, Odradokam’yanka, Tokarivka, Antonivka, and Stanislav (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian Air Force launched airstrikes on 8 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1 buildup of enemy troops, 1 electronic warfare station, and 1 air defense system of russian invaders.


Mykola Kuleba, Founder of Save Ukraine, informs that another 10 children who were under occupation after February 24, 2022, were rescued. He also said that as of January 2024, 518 children had been returned, including 388 deported by russia to its territory. 

Oleksandr Karasevych, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands, says that since the beginning of 2024, russia has used chemical weapons against Ukrainian servicemen 346 times. He also said that as of 1 March, 1060 cases of the use of chemicals are being investigated.

Referring to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, another 59 Ukrainians were evacuated from the Gaza Strip. Among them are 15 children, 37 women and 8 men.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Kupiansk, there were no russian assaults. The russian army launched airstrikes near Hraniv and Synkivka and more than 10 settlements in the oblast were under artillery and mortar attacks.

Andrii Demchenko, Spokesman of the Border Guard Service, informed that russian troops are trying to use subversive reconnaissance groups in Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts.

About a thousand residents of Chuhuiv are without water due to the damaged main water supply system caused by a missile strike on 8 March. Ihor Shepeliev, Deputy Head of Chuhuiv City Administration, said that water has been restored to 60% of customers.

Serhii Bolvinov, Head of Kharkiv police investigation department, stated that a tripwire found in a drain on the ring road was defused.

About 18 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks yesterday: Kruhliakivka, Krasne, Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, Neskuchne and others. The enemy launched airstrikes on Vovchansk, Synkivka, Tabaivka and Berestove.

At 1am, a private house was destroyed as a result of enemy shelling in Vovchansk. There was no information about the casualties.

At around 3pm, an enemy FPV drone hit a civilian car in Vovchansk. According to preliminary data, a 53-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were killed. According to witnesses, there could have been another person in the car.

At 3:45pmb, an enemy FPV drone hit a civilian car in Vovchansk. A 53-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were killed.

At 1:30pm, russian troops fired from a UAV in Vovchansk. The shelling damaged a police car.

At 12:10pm, a house was damaged as a result of repeated shelling in Vovchansk. There were no reports of casualties.

At 11:20am, the enemy attacked the residential sector and educational institutions in Vovchansk. The shelling caused a fire on the first floor of a two-storey kindergarten building. Private households, outbuildings and the building of another educational institution were also damaged.

On the way back from extinguishing the fire, the fire truck was hit by an enemy UAV. The personnel of 6 people were not injured.

Yesterday the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions three times near Synkivka and Kyslivka, but without success.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 13.96 hectares of territory and destroyed 253 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 51 russian attacks on the frontlines of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Most of the fighting was towards Avdiivka and Marinka. The invaders attacked here 37 times.

Yehor Firsov, a soldier from the 109th Battalion, informed that it is difficult for the Ukrainian military to restrain the onslaught of russian invaders as russians have occupied Avdiivka Coke Plant and can safely operate from there with drones.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Ukrainian defence forces successfully repelled all russian attempts to break through in Lyman community and towards Bakhmut. Mandatory evacuation from Donetsk oblast continues and since the beginning of the year, about 14,000 residents have already been evacuated.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, said that in Donetsk oblast, more than 130 participants took part in the In a Free, New Family reading competition which was held on the occasion of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday. The youngest was 9 years old, the oldest 71 years old.

Chasiv Yar was under enemy artillery attack again and as a result, a 46-year-old man was fatally injured. Two apartment buildings were damaged. Ocheretyne was also under attack in the morning and 1 person was injured and private houses damaged.

Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that after 3pm, russian invaders struck Arkhanhelske, Elyzavetivka villages and Ukrainsk city. As a result of russian shelling, three people were injured.

Donetsk police stated that on 8 March, the russian occupation forces shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 24 times and fired 1632 times at the contact line. The shelling damaged 122 civilian objects.

Towards Pokrovsk, a house, administrative building and a shop were damaged in Zhelanne of Ocheretyne community. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka and Pobieda of Marinka community were shelled.

Towards Kramatorsk, the neighbourhoods of Lyman and Kostiantynivka communities were targeted.

Towards Bakhmut, a person was injured, 19 houses, an administrative building and an infrastructure facility damaged in Pivdenne of Toretsk community. 5 private houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. 2 people were injured, 2 houses and a non-residential building damaged in Siversk. Rozdolivka of Soledar community and Pereizne and Verkhnokamianske of Zvanivka community were shelled.

In total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 24 times over the day. 187 people, including 21 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk RMA, reported that yesterday russians injured 9 civilians : 2 in Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka and Siversk, 1 in Shakhove, Berdychi and Pivnichne. 

Luhansk oblast (в процесі)

At around 8:20am, russians launched four airstrikes on Hrekivka yesterday. The shells landed 70 metres from the house of an 81-year-old resident, damaging her property. The woman was not injured but the neighbouring house was hit. As a result of the detonation of these four RBK-500 bombs, the area around them was mined with TG-30 charges. Sappers are working on the 3,000sq m area when the security situation allows. The area of mining is the yards of residential buildings.

The invaders also attacked Bilohorivka, Makiivka and the territory of Serebrianka forest from the air. Makiivka and Bilohorivka were shelled by mortars and artillery.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Luhansk police officers reached Hrekivka with food and bread on the afternoon of 8 March. The day before, they delivered humanitarian kits to residents of Makiivka.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, reported that Krasnorichensk military administration brought fuel and orders from the nearest post office to the residents of Nevske and Novoliubivka.

These days, three more houses in Nevske and Makiivka, which suffered from hostile shelling in 2024, were also destroyed.

Oleksandr Striuk, Head of Sievierodonetsk Regional Military Administration, informed that russians have tightened control over people leaving the community. Mobilisation measures are being intensified.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

On 8 March, Kai Mükkiänen,  Minister of Environment and Climate of Finland, arrived in Kyiv  to assess the environmental damage caused by the war, discuss the energy situation in Ukraine, Finland’s support for Ukraine’s recovery and assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that almost 17,000 objects were restored in Kyiv oblast. 15,422 of them are multi-apartment and private buildings, 199 kindergartens and schools, and 112 medical facilities.

Vadim Tokar, Head of Makariv, reported that 58 residents of the community have purchased new apartments and private houses thanks to eRecovery. 52 owners of destroyed buildings will receive monetary compensation for reconstruction in the amount of UAH 135.6m. 1,042 residents of the community, whose homes were damaged, received compensation in the total amount of UAH 91.9m.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the lands of Chernobyl reserve along the state border will be handed over to the State Border Service of Ukraine for defense. Currently, this draft of the President of Ukraine is being approved by the central bodies of the executive power.

Mustafa Nayem, Head of the State Infrastructure Restoration Agency,  announced that a bridge across the Zhereva River, which was blown up by the russian military during their withdrawal from the region, was rebuilt in Kyiv oblast. This is one of the six bridges that will be restored with the funds of the Export Credit Agency of the Government of Great Britain (UKEF). The bridge was completely destroyed, and during its reconstruction, explosive objects were repeatedly found nearby.

Those mobilized in Kyiv began to receive payments in the amount of UAH 30,000. As reported by the KCSA, the first 473 servicemen who were mobilized after December 1, 2023, received material assistance. The payment is one-time and aimed at providing additional financial support of new recruits.

The regional police reported that a memorial plaque was installed in Bucha in memory of the fallen policeman Yurii Chabach. His body was found on 10 April in a mass grave after the de-occupation of Kyiv oblast. According to the information received, Yurii was shot by a russian sniper when he was helping locals during evacuation. The commemorative plaque was installed on the facade of Lyceum No. 9, where the policeman studied.

Zhytomyr oblast

On  8 March, another evacuation train from Donetsk oblast arrived in Berdychiv. As reported by the State Emergency Service of Zhytomyr oblast, 57 people from areas of active hostilities came there. Among them are 13 children and 10 people with disabilities. 31 people will settle in communities of Korosten region, and 5 people have been accommodated in geriatric boarding houses of the oblast.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that at night, russians carried out 4 shelling attacks on the border communities of Krasnopillia and Seredyna-Buda. There were 23 hits from mortars, artillery and MLRSs.

Sumy RMA reported that the russian military carried out 49 shelling attacks on the border territories of Sumy oblast. There were 249 explosions caused by shelling from mortars, artillery, MLRSs, SPGs, explosive devices dropped from UAVs,  unguided missiles launched from a helicopter, a KAB guided bomb and a missile strike (1 explosion). 9 communities of the oblast were under enemy shelling: Yunakivka, Khotyn, Bilopillia, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhine, Esman and Seredyna-Buda.

Sumy RMA reported that a resident of Seredina-Buda community was injured as a result of mortar shelling by the russian army. There were 54 explosions from mortars and one shelling in the community.

On March 8, the russian military shelled 31 settlements in the oblast. The regional police documented the consequences of the shelling: two civil infrastructure objects, a lyceum building, 20 private households, a gas pipeline, 2 garages and a private car were damaged.

Consequences of the russian missile attack on March 7, which occurred near Sumy Regional Center of Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine include more than 60 broken windows, damaged facade and offices, as well as 10 ambulances in need of repair. According to Serhii Butenko, Director of the institution, the broken windows have already been covered with OSB boards.

An 86-year-old Sumy woman collected UAH 55,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by reading Lina Kostenko’s poems near the shopping center. According to her, the woman gave the first money she earned to purchase a trench heater for soldiers near Avdiivka, and then she supported the collection for the Mavik-3 drone. As a sign of gratitude, the defenders handed Mrs. Natalia flags, and she also received a certificate from the military command of one of the units.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv border detachment reported that n March 8, the russians attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnyanka.There were 68 hits from mortars, barrel artillery and FPV drones.

Chernihiv Central Regional Hospital, which was destroyed in February-March 2022, will be rebuilt with money from UNITED24. The cost of restoration at the first stage will be more than UAH 23.6m. In total, in Chernihiv oblast, russian troops destroyed eight medical facilities and another 68 were damaged. 42 objects of medical facilities in the oblast have already been completely restored, 18 – partially.

American philanthropists donated two modular houses for residents of Novoselivka. They were installed by the charity foundation “To Ukraine with Love” in the yard of the owners, whose homes were destroyed in March 2022 during hostilities in Chernihiv oblast. The houses are connected to communications, have furniture and appliances.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, says that 5 enemy Shaheds were shot down by air defense forces in Kryvyi Rih region at night. 

As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out at one of the enterprises. The occupiers also shelled Marganets community of Nikopol region twice with artillery. More than a dozen shells were fired.

In the afternoon, a 16-year-old boy was killed by russian shelling in Chervonohryhorivka community. His 22-year-old brother was seriously injured. The occupiers also launched kamikaze drones in the area and fired artillery. They hit the regional center, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A communal and private enterprise, 2 administrative buildings, a high-rise building, an outbuilding, 2 residential buildings, a garage, an outbuilding, a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged.

A presentation of Alan Badoev’s documentary “The Long Day” about the war in Ukraine took place in Dnipro. Its co-authors are 12 thousand Ukrainians. They provided the director with 200 hours of video shot on mobile phones in the first days of the full-scale invasion in various cities and villages of Ukraine.

Vinnytsia oblast

Fallen defenders from Vinnytsia Vadym Sokrovishchuk and Vladyslav Bosak were awarded the For Courage Order, III degree. The awards were handed over to their parents.

A peaceful rally was held in Vinnytsia in support of captured military women and civilians. It was organized on European Square by families of prisoners of war and missing defenders.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, soldiers with amputations and after injuries are mastering Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Free training sessions were organized by Yevhen Skyrda, founder of the sports club.

DNA examination confirmed the death of Dmytro Sinchenko, Kropyvnytskyi journalist and serviceman  at the front. Dmytro was born in 1986. In the army he had the call sign “Perun”. It is known that he made materials about the everyday life of Ukrainian defenders.

Poltava oblast

According to the Air Force of Ukraine, at night, air defense was on alert in Poltava oblast. 

Cherkasy oblast

In Zvenyhorodka, local residents paid tribute to 21-year-old soldier Pavlo Liapun. He was killed while performing a combat mission on 5 March  in Donetsk oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that on 8 March, russian forces attacked 12 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. There were no casualties or injuries reported. 

Throughout the day, the russian military conducted 323 strikes on 12 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 5 airstrikes targeted Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne. MLRSs attacked Robotyne and Hulyai Pole. 67 drones attacked Zaporizhzhia, Huliaipole, Novodanilivka, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Malynivka. Also, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Novopavlivka, Preobrazhenka, Levadne, Prymorske and other frontline cities and villages were shelled 249 times by artillery.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least 15 reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure objects were received from the affected individuals. Also, on 8 March, towards Orikhiv, the Defense Forces repelled 8 russian attacks near Robotyne and west of Verbove.

The International Atomic Energy Agency reports that russian occupiers controlling the Zaporizhzhia NPP again restricted access for IAEA experts to the turbine halls of power units 3 and 5. It is noted that the IAEA experts were able to visit the electrical and mechanical warehouses of the NPP to assess the availability of spare parts needed for maintenance and inspect some of them. They hope to gain access to these premises soon. Besides, the NPP remains dependent on the only operating 750kV power transmission line, while it will take at least a week to restore the backup 330kV line.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian Border guards and National Guard soldiers destroyed enemy-camouflaged positions by drones. 

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that more fortification structures will be constructed in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Civilian and military contractors are building dragon’s teeth, anti-tank ditches, connection trenches, firing positions, and shelters. The operations do not stop even at night, as this is when the enemy reduces the number of shelling attacks that interfere with construction.

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitaliy Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on 8 March at 09:02am, and also on 9 March at 00:54am, russian forces conducted artillery strikes on the water area of Ochakiv community. Additionally, on 8 March, at 10:02am and 2:32pm, the russian military attacked Kutsurub community with artillery. There was damage to the private sector in Dmytrivka village, without casualties.

According to the UA War Infographics project, due to the full-scale russian invasion, Ukrainian infrastructure has suffered significant damages, as the enemy employs all available weapons. Direct losses to buildings and infrastructure are estimated at $153bn, and this figure continues to rise daily. In particular, the infrastructure losses in Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts were estimated at $12.6bn and $5.6bn, respectively.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his visit to Istanbul on 8 March, emphasized the work on the “grain corridor” and the security of navigation in the Black Sea. Resumption of operations at Mykolaiv ports was discussed.

On 9 March, the 210th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko was celebrated in Mykolaiv. A solemn event and laying of flowers at the monument took place in the square named after the famous Kobzar, where government representatives were present. Yurii Hranaturov, Deputy Head of Mykolaiv RMA, reminded that the poet’s words “fight and you will will” are particularly relevant today.

Odesa oblast

According to the Defense Forces of South Ukraine, on the morning of 9 March, the russian military attacked Odesa with a tactical aviation aircraft, releasing an X-31 missile. The missile struck a field outside the settlement, causing no infrastructure damage or casualties. Military officials note that the aircraft approached from the Black Sea waters.

Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk, Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, announces that the Black Sea has been free of russian ships for 4 days in a row. In the Sea of Azov, only one unit continues to patrol to the north of the so-called Crimean Bridge. russian missile carriers are based in the eastern part of the Black Sea. The preparation procedure for mass shelling of Ukraine is complicated for them.

Kherson oblast

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that due to russian armed aggression on 8 March, 2 people were killed, and 2 others, including a child, injured. russian forces targeted 19 settlements in the region, namely Tiahynka, Mylove, Kachkarivka, Bilozerka, Tomaryne, Mykhailivka, Olgivka, Havrylivka, Kizomys, Antonivka, Vesele, Kozatske, Velytenske, Pryozerne, Sofiyivka, Stanislav, Sadove, Prydniprovske and Kherson. They targeted residential areas, 4 high-rise buildings, 30 private homes, 2 administrative structures, a kindergarten, gas pipelines, a garage, and vehicles.

On the evening of 8 March, around 9:30pm, occupying forces attacked a high-rise building in Korabelny district of Kherson, injuring a 7-year-old boy. 

Also, Kherson RMA, informed that on the morning of  9 March, due to the russian attack on Kherson, 3 residents sustained shrapnel injuries. The victims received immediate assistance and will continue outpatient treatment.

According to the Defense Forces of South Ukraine, on 8 March, the Defense Forces destroyed russian equipment and eliminated 52 russian servicemen on the left bank of Kherson region. The Defense Forces destroyed 22 units of automotive equipment, 6 artillery pieces, 5 drones (including 2 Lancets), 2 self-propelled artillery systems, 2 generators, and a boat.

Kherson RMA disclosed that humanitarian aid distribution to Kherson oblast residents continues. International NGOs, donors, and volunteers delivered 488 food sets, 8913 loaves of bread, 456 cans of preserves, 250 servings of hot meals, and 2584 liters of drinking water to residents of liberated territories. Additionally, 952 hygiene kits and 150 tons of fuel briquettes were provided to the population.

Kherson RMA said that Vysokopilska community in Kherson oblast received a minibus from Chernivtsi charitable foundation KAP ANAMUR.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The MK Foundation CF sent 37 cars to the military, which is their second batch of aid from within a week. On March 1, 50 such cars were handed over to the border guards.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Olena Tolkachova, Head of the patronage service of the 3rd separate assault brigade. They discussed the 4.5.0 Recovery Center project of the regional rehabilitation center, which was launched in Zakarpattia.

This week, the Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center provided IDPs registered in Uzhgorod with 30 packages with necessary things for children under 1 year old, 50 bags with grocery sets and 50 packages with hygiene kits. During the week, volunteers gave out clothes, shoes, bed linen and dishes (1,1K items) from the PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. V., Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help e.V. and other benefactors.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA held a meeting with a delegation from Romania consisting of a member of the Parliament of Romania, Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, Head of the Union of Ukrainians of Romania, his first deputy Vasyl Pasenchuk and members of the organization. They discussed participation of Romanian colleagues in the Care for the Hero’s Family project, which aims to provide rehabilitation and rest for the children of fallen defenders.

Ten family members of the fallen defenders will have a rest and recover in the Carpathians thanks to the Care for the Hero’s Family project. They will be hosted by the Bear Mountain holiday resort in the city of Yaremche and the Phoenix tourist complex in Bukovel. They will enjoy comfortable accommodation, quality food and interesting leisure activities.

Lviv oblast

In Freiburg, Germany, which is a sister city of Lviv, €40K was raised for the UNBROKEN rehabilitation center at a charity concert of the city orchestra. The Freiburg City Council added another €60K to this amount.

Sports schools of Lviv oblast conduct free training for veteran soldiers. The initiative was launched by the Yurii Kutenko Comprehensive Children’s and Youth Sports School. Veterans can choose one of nine sports: athletics, powerlifting, weightlifting, cycling, sambo wrestling, handball, swimming, diving and water polo.

Hennadiy Kukin, defender from Novyi Rozdol, was posthumously awarded with the III degree For Courage Order. He was called up for military service in December 2022 and defended Ukraine as part of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after Ivan Sirko. He was killed on June 2, 2023 near the village of Novoselivka, Svativ region, Luhansk oblast.

Rivne oblast

Oleksandr Tereshchenko, Adviser to the Head of Rivne RMA on digitalization, announced that traffic protection systems at entrances have been deployed in Rivne oblast to enhance security of information resources. This made it possible to reduce the number of cyber incidents related to phishing and targeted attacks by cybercriminals.The Regional Center for Ensuring Cyber Protection will be established.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil community sent a special complex for aerial target detection to Ternopil division of the Alfa Special Operations Center thanks to the budget funds. Fighters of this unit carry out combat tasks in the hottest areas of the front.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The first batch of U.S. Westinghouse nuclear fuel has been delivered to the Khmelnitskyi NPP. This is the fourth NPP to convert from russian fuel to U.S. fuel.

Chernivtsi oblast

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine awarded Mykhailo Shtefanishyn from Berehomet with the III degree For Courage badge.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

In March, Ukraine will receive the first tranche under the Ukraine Facility program in the amount of €4.5 bln. The second €1.5 bln tranche will arrive in April. At the end of February, the Council of the EU approved the provision of €50 bln in aid to Ukraine.

Bill Blair, Minister of Defense of Canada, announced that the country will finance the development of innovative solutions for demining Ukraine.

The EU will train 60,000 Ukrainian servicemen by the end of this summer. Currently EU countries have allocated over €28 bln in lethal and non-lethal military aid to Ukraine.

Margus Tsahkn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, stated that the country plans to sign a security agreement with Ukraine and provide a new aid package.

David Cameron, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain, announced that the country is ready to buy German Taurus missiles and sent Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine.

The Polish Diet imposed sanctions on the import of russian and belarusian agricultural products into the EU. The lower house of the Polish parliament calls on the European Commission to introduce sanctions on the import of russian and belarusian food and agricultural products to the European Union.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, had a phone conversation with Sidney Mufamadi, South African President’s national security advisor. They discussed preparations for the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.

The Ada class corvette, which Turkey is building for the Ukrainian Navy, has been named Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi. The contract to construct two corvettes for Ukraine was concluded with Turkey in September 2021. The first corvette Hetman Ivan Mazepa was launched in October 2022, and the keel of Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky was laid in August 2023.
