The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using tactical aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles.
On January 7, there were 29 combat clashes. The enemy launched a total of 6 missile and 40 air strikes, carried out 21 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential and apartment buildings, and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks in the vicinities of Synkivka, and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast), where the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. The occupiers launched an airstrike near Berestove (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Syn’kivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Tabaivka (Kharkiv oblast).
Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 assaults east of Terny (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 1 attack in the vicinity of Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched an airstrike near Druzhba settlement (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 enemy attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and 11 more attacks in the vicinities of Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the adversary, with air support, conducted unsuccessful attempts to improve its tactical situation. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Sievierne, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Marinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the adversary, with air support, made 3 failed attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka and Heorhiivka (Donetsk oblast). The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka were under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Shakhtarske, the russian army conducted no offensives. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 1 assault west of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 15 settlements, including Olhivske, Poltavka, Chervone, Bilohiria, Robotyne, and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kherson, the invaders fired artillery at the city of Kherson (Kherson oblast), as well as Dmytrivka, and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast). They launched air strikes near the settlements of Respublikanets, Chervonyi Mayak, Zmiivka, and Krynky (Kherson oblast).
The occupiers have not abandoned their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 2 unsuccessful assaults. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line and keep inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
The Ukrainian Air Force launched airstrikes on 4 buildups of enemy troops. Also, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 1 Kh-59 air-launched guided missile.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry calls on the International Criminal Court to pay attention to the forced granting of Russian citizenship to deported Ukrainian children. Such actions are one of the signs of genocide.
Petro Yatsenko, Head of the press service of the Coordination Center for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, reports that thousands of Ukrainian civilians have been abducted by russia. It is known that civilians are often passed off as prisoners of war, so the process of returning people is extremely difficult.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
According to the evening report of the General Staff, the Defence Forces repelled two attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka as the russian military tried to improve their tactical position.
The fourth campaign in support of Azovstal prisoners of war was held on Svobody Square, Kharkiv. Relatives, friends of the prisoners and residents of the city attended Captivity Kills! campaign in downtown Kharkiv. The campaign was held in Kharkiv for the fourth time and was attended by about 100 people.
According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, in two hours, russia shelled outskirts of four villages: Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Vesele and Slobozhanske. A private house and a shop were damaged. There is no information about the casualties.
Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a 17-year-old boy was injured as a result of shelling of Senkove village, Kupiansk region, at around 12:50 pm.
The invaders shelled Nechvolodivka, Kupiansk region, killing a 50-year-old man. One woman was injured and received medical assistance on the spot. A private house, a car and outbuildings were damaged.
Kharkiv Regional State Emergency Service stated that a fire broke out in Vovchansk as a result of shelling at 10 am and 1 pm. Also a residential building, a garage and a car were on fire.
More than 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Chervona Zoria of Bohodukhiv region, Kozacha Lopan, Lukiantsi of Kharkiv region, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove of Kupiansk region. The enemy launched airstrikes near Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, Tabaivka, Oleksandrivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Prykolotne and Chuhunivka of Kupiansk region.
At about 10 am, the invaders attacked Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region. A 56-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds and was hospitalised in moderate condition. The enterprise and power poles were damaged.
The enemy shelled Kupiansk at around 10:15 am. Private houses and a kindergarten were damaged, and one residential building destroyed.
A private house was damaged as a result of an enemy attack with a KAB and shelling in Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region. There were no casualties.
At 11 am, the enemy shelled outskirts of Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region, with artillery. There were no casualties.
At about 1:50 pm, the enemy attacked near Merefa town, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.
At 2:15 pm, the invaders attacked Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, with mortars. A private house was damaged. There were no casualties.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 3 enemy attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka of Kupiansk region.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 2 russian attacks towards Bakhmut and another 24 towards Avdiivka: Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske.
Anastasiia Miedviedieva, Spokeswoman of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported that russian troops shelled Avdiivka. An 83-year-old man was killed.
The bodies of the killed soldiers were removed from the battlefield near Bakhmut by searchers from the Platsdarm unit. Among them are killed russian soldiers and possibly Ukrainian soldiers. Oleksii Yukov, Head of the search team, informed that some bodies have been lying in Andriivka, Klishchiivka and Kurdiumivka for more than a year. Searchers are identifying the bodies in a safe place.
In the evening, Pokrovsk region suffered a massive missile attack: 5 people were killed, including 2 children, and 6 injured in Pokrovsk, 134 private houses and 15 apartment buildings damaged. In Rivne of Myrnohrad community, 6 people were killed, including 3 children, and 2 injured, 80 houses, a paramedic and obstetric station and an administrative building damaged.
Out of the 7 injured in Pokrovsk yesterday, 2 were transported to Dnipro, 2 remain in the surgical department of Pokrovsk hospital and the remaining 3 with light injuries decided to be treated on an outpatient basis. A rescue operation is ongoing at the site of the strike, involving more than 30 people and 9 vehicles. The final aftermath of yesterday’s strikes on Pokrovsk region will be established later. According to preliminary calculations, 11 people were killed and 10 injured in Pokrovsk and Rivne.
Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that russian military attacked Pokrovsk region with eight missiles on 6 January.
Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said that police seized more than fifty body debris at the sites of missile attacks in Pokrovsk region.
In Ocheretyne community, Zhelanne was shelled, a person injured and 3 houses damaged. Kurakhove community was shelled twice by Uragan MRLs and the industrial zone was targeted.
Talking of Kramatorsk region, russians shelled Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community 9 times, without causing casualties or destruction.
As of Bakhmut region, the enemy dropped 2 guided bombs on Pivnichne of Toretsk community and as a result, 1 person was killed, 1 injured and 5 houses damaged. Another 3 houses were damaged in Niu-York. In Siversk, three streets were under attack and a house was damaged.
In total, russians killed 12 residents and injured 10 more in Donetsk oblast.
Donetsk Regional State Emergency Service stated that rescuers took on board Magirus Wolf C1 robot, which will be used to extinguish fires during emergencies or when there is a threat of a building collapse.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, says that the liberated villages of Luhansk oblast and the fortifications of the Ukrainian military were under massive attack and the enemy launched 551 shells in our area of responsibility. The enemy attacked, specifically, Nevske and Bilohorivka. Serebrianka forestry was under an airstrike. In recent days, russians have focused their attack efforts on Kupiansk. Both regular russian troops and assault units formed from former prisoners are trying to break through our defences. They are not saving on tanks and armoured vehicles.
According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the invaders recently announced their intention to restore the destroyed territories of Luhansk oblast by 2035. The list includes only about 10% of the total number of facilities in need of major repairs or new construction which is less than 1% per year. The situation with landfills will be faster. Back in March last year, the invaders announced the upcoming construction of six all-russian landfills in the so-called “lpr”. They have now outlined a timeframe, until 2030, which is five years faster than housing. These are the priorities. It has been preliminarily decided that waste will be processed in Luhansk, Sievierodonetsk and Antratsyt. Waste transfer stations are to be built in Bilokurakyne, Krasnodon and Pervomaisk.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Yoko Kamikawa, Japanese Foreign Minister, arrived in Kyiv. It happened on the eve of the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in Tokyo on February 19.
As part of the VidnovyDIM program, housing restoration in Makariv is underway. As Vadym Tokar, Makariv Head, reported, all apartment buildings that submitted documents for restoration were damaged during hostilities in February-March 2022. Currently, the House of the Future condominium received funds for reconstruction – it is part of a grant from the Energy Efficiency Fund in the amount of 70% of the total cost of construction works. The condominium will receive the rest of the funds after the completion of all works.
Solomyanskyi District State Administration reported that residents of a building, which suffered substantial damage as a result of a massive rocket attack on Kyiv on January 2, will receive UAH 10K. 411 applications were received for one-time financial assistance. In addition, applications from victims who were registered in damaged apartments at the time of the rocket attack are accepted by the French foundation Acted.
Examinations regarding the habitability of the damaged building in the capital’s Solomyanskyi district are ongoing. According to preliminary conclusions, three entrances, which are completely burnt out, are impossible to occupy. Electricity, central heating and cold water are already being restored to some entrances. The issue of gas supply will be studied after the completion of all emergency works.

M-TAC, the Ukrainian manufacturer of tactical equipment and clothing, whose workshops were destroyed due to the russian shelling on January 2, intends to resume production. For this, the company will look for funds and new premises. The latest russian missile attack on Kyiv destroyed the company’s production facilities, warehouses, equipment and materials, but the employees were not injured.
KCSA reported that last year Ukrainians collected over UAH 2 million to help Kyiv’s air defense forces through the Safe Sky fundraising platform. The funds collected were used to purchase equipment and radio parts for aircraft, 6 thermal imaging sights and 10 telecommunication sets for mobile air defense groups.
Kyiv City Military Administration reported that since 2022, more than 1K Invincibility Centres have been created in Kyiv, some of which have already been deployed. In particular, the points work in every district police station of Kyiv and another 47 – on the basis of the State Emergency Service. Zhytomyr City Council launched the Zhytomyr Drone platform, where you can learn to assemble FPV drones for the military by yourself. The platform unites engineers, suppliers, logisticians and donors to make drones. Authorization is arranged through Diya.Signature, so that only Ukrainians have access to the platform.
At the end of December, a street in Zviagel was renamed after the fallen Hero of Ukraine Andrii Verkhohliad, who was born and raised there. Residents of the street supported the renaming – this is the street on which Andrii lived, the lyceum where he studied is located on it. The commander of the battalion of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhets, Lt. Col. Sumy RMA reported that on the night of January 7, the russian army struck Khotyn and Bilopillia communities in the oblast, there were 10 explosions.
Sumy RMA reported that the russian military launched a missile and air strike on the city of Krolevets, Konotop region. The terrorist state directed a missile and two Shahed-type UAVs at a peaceful Ukrainian city. Previously, 23 private houses were damaged, information about the victims is being clarified. Emergency and rescue services are working on the spot, providing all the necessary assistance to people.
On January 6, the russian army shelled the Sumy oblast 21 times, there were 138 explosions. Five communities came under attack: Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Seredina-Buda and Svesa. The enemy fired with artillery, grenade launchers, and mortars.

The State Border Service of Ukraine reported that border guards discovered a large-sized floating object on the Desna River in the oblast. As it turned out after the inspection, it was a pontoon bridge, which until recently served as a crossing for the russians. The invaders’ equipment was checked by sappers.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that 8 enemy Shahed drones were shot down over the region yesterday evening and later in the night. They were destroyed in Dnipro and Nikopol regions by the Air Defense Forces. As a result, two fires broke out, destroying 4 cars and damaging 12 more. A dormitory building, 2 high-rise buildings, a municipal institution, and an administrative building were affected. Emergency workers rescued 6 people, including 2 children. Also yesterday late in the evening, the enemy attacked Nikopol region with artillery. They shelled Chervonohryhorivka community.
In the morning the occupiers used a kamikaze drone to attack Nikopol. In Dnipro region, the fall of enemy missile fragments destroyed a country house and an outbuilding, damaged 16 more houses and 2 outbuildings and hit a car.

The South Air Command reported that one Shahed drone was destroyed by the Air Defense at night in the oblast.
At night the Air Defense Forces shot down a Shahed drone in Kirovohrad oblast. In Kropyvnytskyi region, the debris damaged a private house and a power line.
Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that in Cherkasy oblast, one attack drone was destroyed in the sky over Zvenyhorod region at night.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Yesterday, the enemy launched 169 strikes on 22 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Invaders launched 5 MLRS attacks on Huliaipole, Novodarivka, and Mali Shcherbaky, as well as 35 drone attacks on Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka, Chervone, Levadne, Poltavka, and Mali Shcherbaky. Additionally, airstrikes were carried out from aviation on Orikhiv, Novodarivka, and Piatykhatky. There were 126 artillery shelling attacks, affecting Novodanylivka, Huliaipilske, Novodarivka, Charivne, Temyrivka, Levadne, Poltavka, Robotyne, Malynivka, Kamianske, Piatykhatky, Lobkove, and other frontline cities and villages. Six reports of residential building destruction were received.
According to preliminary information from Zaporizhzhia RMA, a russian drone was destroyed in Zaporizhzhia oblast during the evening’s massive drone attack on Ukraine.
On January 6, russian forces launched attacks on two communities in Mykolaiv oblast. A fire broke out in a recreational area. There were no reported casualties. Additionally, during the night of January 7, air defense forces destroyed five attack drones launched from Krasnodar Krai region. This information comes from a report by Mykolaiv RMA.
Sappers from Mykolaiv branch of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are assisting in demining territories in the parts of Kherson oblast previously occupied by russian forces. They are using a mechanized demining vehicle, MV-10, for this task. This was reported by the emergency services’ press service on January 6. According to the agency, Mykolaiv specialists have been working for the fourth week on this mission.
The South Operational Command reports that two russian Shahed drones were shot down over Odesa oblast. 11 drones were destroyed in the southern regions during the night from January 6 to January 7. Additionally, russian aviation launched four cruise missiles towards Odesa oblast on January 6. These missiles lost their combat capability in the air.
Ecologist Ivan Rusiev informs that scientists found mines in the National Natural Park Tuzlivski Lymany, located in the south of Odesa oblast, during a monitoring of the Black Sea coast. These mines likely appeared on the sandy spit in the protected zone and other areas of the sandy spit of the national park after the explosion of the dam of the Kakhovka HPP. Such devices are currently a danger and will remain a deadly threat to humans and wildlife for a long time. The collected information has been handed over to the military.

The russian army shelled Kherson. On the morning of January 7, 2024, the russian military shelled one of the markets in the city. As a result of the enemy’s attack, a 62-year-old man was killed. Civilian infrastructure objects were damaged. A Kherson resident died due to a direct hit on a residential building, and another woman was injured. russians also shelled a church in the village of Sadove, causing a 73-year-old man to suffer explosive injuries and abdominal shrapnel wounds.
Oleksandr Tolokonnіkov, Head of the press office of the regional military administration, says that as a result of the russian shelling, gas pipelines were damaged in Kherson, and relevant services are working. Yesterday, the enemy carried out 89 shelling attacks at Kherson oblast, launching 382 projectiles from mortars, artillery, Grad MLRSs, tanks, UAVs, and aviation.The enemy fired 24 projectiles at the city of Kherson. Due to the russian aggression, 5 people were injured, including 2 children.
Kherson, Antonivka, Dariivka, Bilozerka, Sadove, Kizomys, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Ivanivka, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Tiahynka, Chervonyi Maiak, and Zolota Balka were shelled. Infrastructure objects, administrative buildings, 21 private and 5 multi-apartment buildings, a plant, enterprise, garage, warehouse premises, and 3 vehicles were damaged due to russian aggression. The police opened 12 criminal investigations into war crimes committed by the russian military in Kherson oblast.
The South Operational Command reported that Ukrainian units continue to engage in combat to eliminate enemy firing positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The enemy continues assault actions with armoured support in areas where the Defense Forces hold positions and continue actions to expand the foothold. The number of enemy attacks has increased to 18 per day, but they have not achieved success. The enemy returned to their original positions each time after suffering losses. The occupiers actively conduct aerial reconnaissance, increase artillery pressure, and intensively use combat drones on frontline populated areas.
Confirmed losses of the enemy on the left bank amounted to 8 occupiers, 1 Strela-10 SAM system, 12 guns, 1 tank, 3 BTR-80 armoured vehicles, 6 units of other armored vehicles, 1 Kasta-2E2 radar station, 2 Murm-M video surveillance complexes, and 1 boat. Another UAV control point was destroyed.
Kherson RMA transferred another batch of aid to the defenders of Kherson. Defenders received powerful boat engines, a mobile field kitchen, footwear, and thermal heaters.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Nataliia Matviiuk, Head of the Department of Education and Science of the RMA, reported that at the end of the previous year, the Government allocated UAH 1.74 billion from the state budget for teaching the Defense of Ukraine subject at educational institutions. In particular, Volyn will receive over UAH 83 mln.
Mobile fire groups from the anti-aircraft machine-gun battalion of Zakarpattia began to perform the combat task of protecting the airspace. Professionally trained officers, sergeants and soldiers of the battalion are ready to reliably protect the sky from enemy attacks on critical infrastructure facilities.
Ryslan Martsinkiv, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk, presented the awards “For a Saved Life” from the President of Ukraine and “For injuries” from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine to Ihor Dubovskyi, soldier of the 8th separate mountain assault battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade “Edelveis”. He is a medic from Ivano-Frankivsk who worked as an anesthesiologist in a perinatal center before the war.
A Christmas Miracle charity concert by Khrystyna Darvai and a charity auction to raise funds for the military were held at Ira Malaniuk Regional Philharmonic. Part of the funds raised will be directed to the needs of the 78th Battalion of the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade.
Yavoriv RMA purchased a car for mobile fire brigades protecting the skies of Lviv oblast from Shahed drones. This is the second vehicle from Yavoriv region that helps strengthen the combat unit of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Strii City Council sent 40 FPV drones, a control station, a repeater and glasses worth almost UAH 1 mln to the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yurii Hyriak, Andrii Rybak and Ivan Shimkov, defenders from Strii region, were posthumously awarded the III degree Order of Courage. Awards were presented to servicemen’s families.
A mobile application to assess residents’ mental state is being tested in Rivne oblast. It provides stress indicators, determines the level of various activities, specifies the level of anxiety and gives recommendations to improve the condition.
All 64 communities of Rivne oblast are provided with Safety Classrooms. In total, it was possible to equip 94 such facilities in the oblast, 7 of which are arranged in shelters.
Ternopil City Council supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, in December 2023, the following were sent to the defenders of Ukraine: 76 quadcopters, 8 cars, 5 tracking systems, 5 antennas, 14 uninterruptible power supplies, 37 laptops, 12 portable charging stations, sets of tires, batteries and other spare parts for cars, etc.
The RMA held a meeting regarding the activity of military medical commissions of Khmelnytskyi oblast.
