It has been the 728th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

During the day of February 21, there were 51x combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 3x missile and 84x air strikes, carried out 71x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in wounded civilians. Residential private and apartment buildings as well as other infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Milove, Vil’khuvatka, Hryhorivka (Kharkiv oblast). More than 20x settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Bleshnya, Hrem’yach, Yeline (Chernihiv oblast), Popivka, Volfyne (Sumy oblast), Veterynarne, Krasne, Luk’yantsi, Hatyshche (Kharkiv oblast).

Kup’yans’k axis: the adversary made 2x assault attempts near Syn’kivka and Tabaivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders launched an air strike in the vicinity of Petropavlivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Syn’kivka, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 4x assaults near Terny and Vyimka (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Makiivka, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Lyman, Svyato-Pokrovs’k, Sivers’k (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Makiivka, Nevs’ke (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Tors’ke, Serebryanka, Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 1x attack in the vicinity of Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers, with air support, made attempts to improve their tactical situation. The adversary launched an air strike near New York (Donetsk oblast). More than10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 12x attacks in the vicinities of Stepove, Lastochkyne, Pervomais’ke, Nevel’s’ke (Donetsk oblast). The adversary launched air strikes near Novopokrovske, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Semenivka, Orlivka, Lastochkyne (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 20x settlements, including Berdychi, Semenivka, Sjeverne, Netailove (Donetsk oblast).

Mar’inka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the invaders made 10x attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The adversary launched air strikes near Krasnohorivka, Katerynivka, Antonivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka (Donetsk oblast). The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Novopavlivka axis: the adversary conducted no offensives. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Urozhaine and Staromaiors’ke (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Staromaiors’ke, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast).

Zaporizhzhia axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 7x attacks west of Verbove and in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 20x settlements, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Charivne, Bilohir’ya, Novodanylivka, P’yatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Odesa operational-strategic group, Kherson axis: the occupiers do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. During the day, the enemy made 2x attempts to assault positions of Ukrainian troops. The adversary launched air strikes near Krynky and Chornobaivka (Kherson oblast). More than 10x settlements, including Kherson, Krynky, Ivanivka, Tyahynka, Tokarivka (Kherson oblast) came under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

During the day of February 21, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 10x concentrations of troops, 2x air defense systems of the occupiers. On top of that Ukrainian Air Force units destroyed yet another Su-34 fighter-bomber as well as 3 reconnaissance UAVs.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 5x concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, 2x fuel depots, 3x command posts, 8x artillery systems, 1x electronic warfare station of the russian invaders.


Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, reported that the russian army has deployed 48 Iskander systems along the Ukrainian border, there were 46 but now it is 48. Two launchers have been added to form an additional tactical group, which is used to launch ballistic missiles from the territory of russia.

Ukraine is investigating the killing of 38 prisoners of war by russian invaders. A total of 18 criminal proceedings are being investigated in Ukraine over the murder of 38 prisoners of war. More than 500 people are suspected of war crimes, 97 suspected of intentional murder and 8 of them have already been convicted.

The Ministry of Defence is working to get at least 20 countries to join the drone coalition. The coalition currently has 8 partner countries. The coalition is currently working in three areas. It is purchasing unmanned aerial vehicles made in Ukraine with financial assistance from partners, supplying finished unmanned aerial vehicles to partner countries and working together on technological solutions to be implemented for the effective operation of these systems.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of Khortytsia operational-strategic group, informed that the Defence Forces of Ukraine destroyed 99 russian drones towards Lyman-Kupiansk.

He added that yesterday the enemy carried out 763 attacks and 8 airstrikes there.

The invaders dropped guided aerial bombs and unguided rockets.

Sometimes, 25 such shells were fired at the positions of Ukrainian defenders in one go. There were 10 combat engagements in this section of the frontline, during which 368 invaders were eliminated.

154 pieces of the russian military equipment were destroyed and damaged. Specifically, the enemy lost 99 drones.

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that at midnight a garden association and one car were shelled in Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.

About 20 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attack, including: Synkivka, Dvorichna, Ivanivka and others. The invaders launched airstrikes on Hrachivka, Chuhunivka, Fedorivka, Pishchane, Katerynivka and other settlements.

At 8:50 pm, Kozacha Lopan settlement of Derhachi region was shelled. The shelling hit the outskirts. There was neither destruction nor casualties.

Around 4:50 pm, a civilian car was hit by an enemy kamikaze drone in Petropavlivka village, Kupiansk region. Two men aged 38 and 50, workers at a local farm, were killed on the spot. The 48-year-old wife of the latter was taken to a medical facility with injuries. All three were workers at a local farm. They were returning home after work.

Around 4 pm, a garden association was damaged in Cherkaski Tyshky village, Kharkiv region, as a result of shelling. A 2-storey house was on fire. There were no casualties.

At 1:10 pm, Hlushkivka village, Kupiansk region, was shelled with KAB guided bombs. A private household was damaged. A residential building was also destroyed and two neighbouring houses damaged. There were no casualties.

At around 11:20 am, during the shelling of Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, the enemy shelled three private households. There were no casualties.

At 9:45 am, the enemy shelled Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region. The shelling damaged 2 private houses, an outbuilding and a summer kitchen. There were no casualties.

At 7:24 am, Fedorivka village, Kupiansk region, was shelled. A KAB bomb hit the territory of a private agricultural enterprise. There were no casualties.

During the day, the enemy carried out two offensive actions near Synkivka. They were unsuccessful.

Combined groups of bomb experts cleared 12.74 hectares and destroyed 268 explosive ordnance.

Mobile fire groups eliminated eight enemy drones in Kharkiv oblast.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that the invaders attacked civilians 19 times. The enemy attacked 12 settlements: Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Toretsk cities, Niu-York settlement, Kostiantynivka, Lastochkyne, Orlivka, Predtechyne, Tonenke, Umanske villages. 25 civilian objects were damaged, including 17 residential buildings, factories, a lyceum, a cultural centre, a sports complex, an administrative building, critical infrastructure and cars.

Towards Pokrovsk, in Marinka community, 1 person was killed in Kostiantynivka and a house damaged in Krasnohorivka. 2 private houses were damaged in Hanivka of Kurakhove community. The administrative building was destroyed in Memryk of Novohrodivka community. In the middle of the night, russians launched 3 shells at Dobropillia: 2 people were injured and 7 apartment buildings damaged.

Towards Kramatorsk, Kramatorsk was hit with missile attacks and as a result, 6 people were injured and at least 12 apartment buildings damaged. In Lyman community, 4 private houses were damaged: 2 in Yampil, 1 in Zakitne and Ivanivka. 2 houses were damaged in Predtechyne of Kostiantynivka community.

Towards Bakhmut, 2 houses were damaged in Toretsk and Niu-York of Toretsk community. 3 private houses and 2 industrial buildings were damaged in Chasiv Yar community.

In total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 19 times over the day. 122 people, including 23 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Training for FPV drone operators has started at Donetsk Border Guard Detachment. The training class includes 5 workstations with software. Experienced instructors are leading the training process. The course will focus on drone control skills using a simulator.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Nevske, Karmazynivka and Bilohorivka suffered from hostile fire yesterday. The enemy attacked the latter from the air. They also stormed this section of the frontline several times but all attempts were repelled by the Armed Forces. Residents of Nevske received medical supplies and fuel for generators from the military administration.

Even before the opening of polling stations, early voting will be organised in the so-called “lpr”. It will be held from 11 to 14 March. The invaders are planning to visit the apartments and houses of Luhansk residents who live in places far away from the polling stations or do not live there at all.

Utilities in Dovzhansk are demanding money from locals to restore electricity in rural areas. They charge up to RUB 80,000 to connect one street. Each customer is charged another two thousand.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to Kyiv RMA, the destruction of explosive devices continues in Kyiv oblast. Pyrotechnic units will work in two districts of the oblast, which is why residents of some communities and Kyiv suburbs may hear the sounds of explosions.

According to the Ministry of Health, the building of the inpatient department of the consultative diagnostic centre in Kyiv oblast, which was damaged by a russian missile attack in March 2022, has been restored. Since the beginning of the war, 87 medical facilities have been restored in the oblast and another 64 partially restored.

In Irpin, the reconstruction of residential buildings damaged by russian troops during the full-scale invasion of Kyiv oblast continues. Currently, a house on Hromadianska Street, where 40 families used to live, is being restored.

According to Tarashcha City Council, a rehabilitation centre for the military is planned to be established in the village of Chernyn of the Tarashcha community. The premises have already been found for the institution. The centre will be equipped by a charitable foundation.

According to Kyiv RMA, with the support of UNHCR, the re-equipment of a medical facility in Slavutych into housing for IDPs has begun. Last year, the regional targeted programme Support for Internally Displaced Persons for 2023-2025 was adopted. The programme provides for the reconstruction of existing premises and the conversion of non-residential premises for temporary accommodation of IDPs.

More than 650 IDPs have used the services of the State Employment Service of Kyiv oblast since the beginning of 2024. Of these, 88 IDPs were employed, 9 received a voucher for training to acquire a new profession, 144 were sent to socially useful work under the Recovery Army project, and 6 received a microgrant under the Own Business programme and started a business.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to Zhytomyr RMA,99 certificates have been issued to citizens for the purchase of housing that was destroyed by the russian invaders in Zhytomyr oblast. As of February 20, 2024, 137 applications for compensation for destroyed housing have been submitted by residents of the oblast.

In Zhytomyr oblast, there are 4,830 objects damaged as a result of russian armed aggression, 4,172 (86%) of which are residential buildings. Of the 66 territorial communities in the oblast, damage was registered in 28.

According to Alla Ostrovska, Head of Zhytomyr Regional Blood Centre, there is an urgent need for B-negative blood. More than 50 donors are needed to provide the military with the required amount of blood and its components. The need for blood components exists every day, but the need for different blood types and rhesus factors varies.

Sumy oblast

On the night of February 21, the russian military fired 4 times at Sumy oblast. There were 19 attacks, specifically from mortars, cannon artillery, and the dropping of explosive devices from UAVs. Yunakivka, Seredyna-Buda and Znob-Novhorodske communities were shelled.

According to Sumy RMA, on February 20, russians fired 38 times at the border areas of Sumy oblast. There were 236 explosions. Yunakivka, Mykolaivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman and Seredyna Buda communities were shelled.

Bilopillia community was shelled by the russian army with artillery, mortars and MLRS. There was also an attack by an FPV drone, which caused a civilian to get a contusion.

Velyka Pysarivka community was shelled with mortars and an MLRS from the territory of the russian federation. Krasnopillia community suffered mortar and Lancet drone attacks. Seredyna-Buda community was also shelled with mortars. Mykolaivka community was shelled with artillery and Esman community with mortars. Yunakivka community was hit by 3 KAB-500 aerial bombs from a russian aircraft.

According to Sumy police, as a result of russian shelling on February 20, 5 people were killed in Nova Sloboda community and a man injured in Bilopillia community. Two residential buildings, a service station, three cars, three tractors, two haylofts and power lines were damaged in the border communities as a result of hostile attacks.

According to Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two russian drones hit a house in the village of Nova Sloboda, killing a family. It happened on February 20 during the shelling of civilian infrastructure in Konotop region by the russian military. A woman, her two sons, her grandmother and a relative, who had come to visit her, were killed in the house. The rescue operation lasted more than 9 hours. Rescuers extinguished the fire and recovered the bodies of the victims from the rubble.

Radek Pech, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, visited Konotop. He visited Konotop Transport Department. During the year, the Ukrainian and Czech parties implemented a project that resulted in the transfer of tramcars and buses to the city. Radek Pech also visited one of the five schools where shelters were equipped at the expense of the Czech Republic.

Chernihiv oblast

According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, the russian army fired at 2 border communities in the oblast. The enemy launched 17 attacks with mortars, cannon artillery and a drone  towards 4 villages of Semenivka and Snovsk communities.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, reported that thanks to the UNICEF Children of Ukraine programme, a shelter and play areas were set up in Shapovalivka school. The institution was renovated as part of Rebuilding Local Schools for Resilience project with the support of U-LEAD with Europe and the European Commission’s Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI). 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening 4 enemy Shaheds were destroyed by the Air Defence Forces. Drones were shot down over Dnipro and Pavlohrad regions. In the evening the occupiers fired artillery on Marhanets community of Nikopol region. There were no damages or casualties.

There were 19 attacks in Nikopol region. The enemy launched 11 kamikaze drones and about 4 dozen artillery shells. Nikopol, Marhanets, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovsk communities were hit. An agricultural enterprise, a sports facility, 4 private houses, an outbuilding, a truck and a car, garages, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged.

The deputy corps of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council together with the RMA is working to create a developed network of rehabilitation facilities for the military in the oblast. One of these institutions in the region heals wounded bodies and souls every day. They give them a chance for a full life and a healthy future. Since 2014, thousands of Ukraine’s defenders have been put back on their feet. Every year, more than 4,000 veterans are treated. In the medical rehabilitation, neurological and medical rehabilitation departments of this institution, our soldiers receive all the necessary help, from diagnostics, physical treatment to psychological support. Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that thanks to the successful work of the hospital, soldiers from Dnipropetrovsk oblast do not have to go to the western regions of the state but recover beside their loved ones. 

Vinnytsia oblast

On 22 February, Vinnytsia Regional Museum of Local History will host the opening of Calendar of Memorable Dates for 2022, a photo exhibition by Vadym Kozlovskyi. The exhibition is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of russian-Ukrainian war and the 2nd anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It shows the brutal reality of the current war, which, particularly, is the destroyed lives and mutilated bodies of Ukrainian soldiers. The calendar is based on the clinical diagnoses of soldiers after they were injured in the war zone of russian-Ukrainian war. The author of the exhibition found them in an archive. According to him, he accidentally came across old medical records of the injured in this war. Their diagnoses had dates all over them. Almost immediately, the idea of creating a calendar of remembrance arose.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad RMA, reported that Defender of the Motherland medals were awarded to the wives of police officers who were killed at the front. Vladyslav Fesenko and Mykhailo Holovin gave their lives for our country in the fight against the russian aggressor.

In Kropyvnytskyi, the military are involved in theatre rehearsals and performances. This is a form of rehabilitation after injury and trauma. Together with the actors, they read plays. The soldiers, who are undergoing rehabilitation at Kropyvnytskyi Theatre, are participants in the Art Heals project. Together with the actors, they read Let the Heart Go, It Will Take You to Captivity, a play by Marko Kropyvnytskyi. The military learn texts, train diction, voice power and gestures. Currently, there are four military actors.  After rehearsals, the theatrical reading of the play is presented to the audience. Instead of wearing stage costumes, the military will be in uniform so that the audience understands that they are not professional actors. The project will continue as long as there is need for it. The soldiers need the support of the public and positive emotions while recovering from their injuries.

Poltava oblast

According to Poltava RMA, an X-59 guided missile was destroyed. The russian army launched from the territory of Belgorod region.

Cherkasy oblast

Larysa Pochapska, a volunteer from Uman, told us about an 87-year-old pensioner from Uman who bought and donated a car for the military. According to her, 87-year-old Vasyl, a resident of Uman, travelled to Latvia, where he used to live, and bought a car at his own expense. He repaired it and came to Ukraine on his own to hand it over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. When crossing the border, the benefactor had a problem and his relatives turned to volunteers to help the elderly man drive the car into Ukraine. The documents were completed and Vasyl was offered to be accompanied, but he refused and made his way to Uman on his own. It took him 14 days to get there.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

At 19:30, the enemy launched two airstrikes on Orikhiv. A non-residential building caught on fire and other nearby structures were also damaged due to the attack. Approximately 6 russian airstrikes targeted the areas near Mala Tokmachka and Novodanylivka.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully repelled 7 enemy attacks west of Verboe and near Robotyne. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 20 settlements, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka and Piatyhatky.

The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom reported that russian ground forces continue to advance near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Over the past week, russian forces intensified attacks on multiple points along the front line with the aim of stretching Ukrainian forces.

The illegal registration of residents for military service continues in the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast. According to reports from Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, particular attention is given to the youth as military records are being created for boys aged 16-17. Administrative services, such as obtaining a passport or its replacement, are only provided through the military commissariat, and employment is possible only with a military card.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that due to the ongoing hostilities, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is now operating on a single power supply line. 

Mykolaiv oblast

According to the information from Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on February 20, enemy shelled the city of Ochakiv. There were no reported casualties. Additionally, the enemy shelled the waters of Ochakiv community with artillery. There is no information about injuries or fatalities.

Evidence of russian war crimes against the environment in Mykolaiv oblast are being collected using Witness platform. A large-scale online campaign is being prepared to disseminate testimonials about ecocide abroad. The actions of the russian federation are bringing us closer to an environmental disaster every day. It is crucial to discuss this on all possible platforms. Svidok.org is urging Ukrainians to share information about environmental crimes they have witnessed, such as the mining of the sea, contamination of water bodies, the mass death of dolphins and other flora and fauna due to military actions in the Black Sea, landmines, soil pollution, attacks on oil depots and plants, fires in fields, destruction of food stocks, animal killings, etc.

Odesa oblast

Odesa RMA reported that American diplomat Kurt Volker visited Odesa. Direct assistance in providing air defense systems for Odesa oblast, demining the Black Sea waters and ensuring free navigation were discussed during the visit. Mr. Volker served as the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine for two years and continues to advocate for crucial issues as a friend of the country. 

The press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa oblast announced that Odesa rescuers received five pneumatic frame tents from the charitable foundation The Howard G. Buffett Foundation. The tents are equipped with an autonomous heating and conditioning system.

Ukrainian exporters and carriers are facing blockades at western border crossings again. An alternative logistics route from Ukraine to the EU involves river transportation on the Danube. According to the press service of the national carrier, Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company PJSC, they are preparing to launch barge container convoys on the Middle and Upper Danube. The company offers container delivery to Danube ports in Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and the Romanian port of Constanta. In addition to transportation, the company provides storage and transshipment services in Ukrainian ports and organizes transshipment in unloading ports.

Kherson oblast

In the morning, russian occupation forces shelled residential building in Dudchany. A 42-year-old local suffered a concussion, explosive injuries and a head injury as a result of the attack. An ambulance transported the man to the hospital.

Today, the russian army targeted the village of Rakivka in Beryslav region with a drone. Two men, aged 32 and 56, were injured as a result of the attack and both were diagnosed with explosive injuries.

Yesterday the enemy conducted 47 shelling attacks, releasing 159 projectiles using artillery, mortars, tanks and UAVs. The city of Kherson was attacked with 27 projectiles. 4 people were injured due to russian aggression.

According to the police 78 objects  in Kherson oblast were damaged, including 46 private houses, 7 multi-story buildings, power lines, gas pipelines, a water supply system element, a mobile medical point, a private enterprise, an office, 9 cars, garages and a store.

At midnight, the enemy launched attacks on Bilozerka using MLRS, causing significant damage to the settlement’s infrastructure. At least 17 buildings, a private enterprise, a gas pipeline object and a store were damaged.

Artillery shells damaged power lines and 11 private houses in Stanislav. In the morning the enemy attacked the same area with an FPV drone, damaging a house, a gas pipeline and a garage. Similarly, russian forces targeted a mobile medical point in Shyroka Balka, resulting in damage to a generator and the destruction of an air conditioner.

It is reported that occupiers shelled residential quarters of Kherson, causing significant damage to them and the city’s infrastructure. Artillery shells damaged multi-story and private houses, cars in the coastal part of Central district. The water supply system structure and a car were damaged in Dniprovskyi district. Private houses suffered significant damage in Pivnichnyi district with balconies destroyed, windows shattered, and facades damaged. A fire broke out in a car park, where 5 cars and 1 truck were completely burned.

Defense forces continue to damage enemy deployment areas, firing positions, and rear positions. Yesterday the enemy lost 98 occupiers, 1 tank, 15 artillery pieces, 4 RPG-7 rocket launchers, 16 pieces of armored vehicles, 3 antenna sets and 1 electronic warfare station on the left bank of Dnipro river. A UAV control point and 3 supply points were destroyed.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that on February 20, Ukraine managed to repatriate 11 children from the temporarily occupied territory and russia, including four children from Kherson oblast. 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council has prepared a large batch of aid worth UAH 30 mln for the military. The aid included 193 pieces of Mavic 3, 3 FMC, Pro, 3T, 3E, 5 pieces of Matrice 30T, 20 Ecoflow charging stations, 20 Stralinks, thermal imagers, electronic devices, heating insoles, tools and much more. Tomorrow the equipment will be sent to the war zone.

Zakarpattia oblast

The regional council held a meeting with Yevhen Divish, Regional Manager of Caritas in Ukraine, and Nataliia Matskova, Head of the Western office of the Caritas Czech Republic in Ukraine. The regional government will support benefactors in the implementation of projects for IDPs. Construction of modular houses for IDPs in Neresnytsia is at the final stage. Renovated premises are also in the dormitory of Uzhhorod National University, the Academy of Culture and Art and a two-story building in Rakhiv region. In the near future, it will be possible to settle 20 people who lost their homes in the east of the country and are in dire need of new housing. 33 modular houses have been commissioned in Svaliva, Mukachevo and Seredny. These and a number of other projects are implemented in Zakarpattia by the one of the largest international charitable organizations in the world, Caritas.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, annotation boards to the four Heroes were opened. Commemorative signs were placed and consecrated on the facade of the Higher Vocational College of Technical Service. It was here that Volodymyr Kozyr, Taras Timura, Mykhailo Klodnitskyi and Yevhen Khomitskyi studied.

Lviv oblast

Buska community purchased additional chains, stars, files, oil, tires for STIHL chainsaws for the soldiers of Donetsk oblast. Defenders will use the equipment to build dugouts and other defensive structures.

Residents of Sokilnyk collected over UAH 105K to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the choreographic festival. These funds will be used to purchase thermal imaging devices for defenders.

Residents of Chervonohrad donated over UAH 32K to help the Armed Forces. Another UAH 8K for the army were collected by the folk collective of the city of Komarno Theatre without a name during a charity performance

Oleksandr Tovstiuk, defender from the city of Morshin, Strii region was posthumously awarded with For Military Service to Ukraine medal by the President of Ukraine. The award was presented to the family of the fallen soldier.

In three region of Lviv oblast, memorial plaques to fallen defenders were opened. Memorial signs were installed in Semeniv Lyceum of Pustomytov community in honor of Ruslan Nyrov, Ivan Vuitsyk, Mykola Deviatnykov, Mykhailo Sharavar, Pavlo Zhydyk, Serhii Matishynets and Volodymyr Pavlyshyn. Another memorial sign was installed in Skolivska community. It was opened on the facade of Krushelnytskyi school in honor of Ivan Yavorskyi, graduate. The soldier was killed on June 19, 2022 in Donetsk oblast. A memorial plaque in honor of Taras Pavliuk appeared on the facade of the People’s House of Khodoriv community. The soldier was killed in Luhansk oblast. In honor of Roman Lazivskyi, soldier from Slavsko community, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the occasion of the anniversary of his death.

Rivne oblast

Varas city military administration was created in Rivne oblast. The relevant Decree was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The RMA reported that drones, training shooting ranges and models, simulators for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and stopping bleeding will soon appear in educational institutions of Rivne oblast.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that the community sent drones to the military. Specifically, for the six Ternopil military units stationed in different directions, sent 50 FPV drones, DJI Mavic 3T quadcopter, 50 FPV drones, 30 FPV, DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise quadcopter, 50 FPV drones worth almost UAH 3 mln.

Ternopil City Council reported that the community sent 100 FPV drones and 3 mavic quadcopters to the Freedom battalion of the Rubizh brigade.

They added hat the community sent 50 fpv drones to the military unit of the city, purchased from the city budget.

Ternopil City Council announced a procurement for the military to purchase laptops. The other day, the procedure for purchasing seven laptops worth UAH 220K for the needs of the military began.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Coordinating Staff on the Treatment of Prisoners. They discussed the activities of the Coordination Headquarters, further steps of cooperation, and ways to improve communication with the families of prisoners of war, missing and killed defenders living in Khmelnytskyi oblast.

Chernivtsi oblast

Bukovyna is actively expanding its defensive lines in the east of Ukraine. Specifically, the oblast is helping to build a line of defense and military engineering and technical facilities, to equip barrier systems in Donetsk oblast. Other oblasts are also involved in the construction of fortifications.

Ukraine received 10 ambulances from the Government of South Korea. In total, the country plans to send 100 cars. In December of last year, Ukraine already received 30 ambulances, in March of this year another 70 will be delivered.

The first group of Ukrainian pilots will complete F-16 training in the US by summer. This group of pilots began training in mid-October at the 162nd Fighter Wing in Tucson, Arizona. The second group, which also includes four pilots, began training in January. The third group is currently learning the necessary English terminology before starting training directly on the F-16. All pilots are expected to complete their training between May and August, although the exact schedule depends on the progress of the program.
