It has been the 716th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

On February 9, there were 91 combat clashes. The occupiers launched 49 airstrikes and carried out 52 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in wounded civilians. Residential private and apartment buildings, and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were found. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Leonivka (Chernihiv oblast), Yunakivka, Yablunivka, Kindrativka (Sumy oblast). Around 30 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Karpovychi, Lubiane, Hremiach (Chernihiv oblast), Mohrytsya, Stepok, Uhroidy, Novodmytrivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Strilecha, Chuhunivka, and Vovchan’k (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 attacks near Synkivka, and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast). In that area, the enemy made attempts to breach Ukrainian defence, to no success. The occupiers launched airstrikes near Stepova Novoselivka, Kotlyarivka, and Pishchane (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 assaults in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area the adversary, with air support, made attempts to breach Ukrainian defence. The invaders launched an airstrike near Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Serebrianka forestry (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebryanka, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 18 attacks in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Niu York (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka and 10 more attacks near Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the occupiers made attempts to breach Ukrainian defence. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Lastochkyne, and Avdiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinity of Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the enemy, with air support, made 12x attempts to improve its tactical situation. The settlements of Kurakhove, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, and Paraskoviivka were under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Shakhtarske, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 assaults south of Zolota Nyva (Donetsk oblast) and north of Pryiutne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The occupiers launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Blahodatne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 2 attacks west of Novopokrovka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). In that area, the occupiers, with air support, made attempts to breach Ukrainian defence, to no success. Around 30 settlements, including Poltavka, Huliaipole, Stepove, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, and Stepnohirsk (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, Odesa operational-strategic group, the occupiers have not abandoned their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 4 unsuccessful assaults on positions of Ukrainian troops. The russian army fired artillery at the city of Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast). The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Chervonyi Maiak, Krynky, and Beryslav (Kherson oblast). On top of that, the invaders launched MLRS strikes in the vicinities of Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Krynky, Komyshany, and Tokarivka (Kherson oblast).

On February 9, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 5 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 2 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment, 2 command posts, 2 ammunition depots.

The public relations service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Support Forces Command reports that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has used 815 chemical attacks. In January 2024 alone, there were 229 such cases. 

The Ministry of Digital Transformation informs that a map of shelters has appeared in the Diia app. The service will allow you to view information about the shelter and create a route to it.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Illia Yevlash, Head of the press service of Khortytsia operational-tactical group, reported that the enemy conducted over 800 attacks towards Lyman-Kupiansk over the day.

There were 8 combat clashes in this area. The enemy attacked with kamikaze drones 25 times.

The Ukrainian army eliminated 162 invaders and destroyed 14 pieces of their equipment, specifically a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, a number of artillery systems, two electronic warfare stations, seven shelters, etc.

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA< says that at 00:15, an enemy Shahed UAV attacked Koropove village of Zmiivka territorial community. At least 7 blows were delivered. Rescuers extinguished fires in the hotel building and the restaurant’s summer terrace. Three cars were also damaged. A 47-year-old civilian male security guard was injured and received medical aid on the spot. Other strikes damaged private residential buildings, a three-storey building of a recreation centre, and a canteen.

15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under artillery and mortar attacks: Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Udy, Strilecha, Vovchansk, Budarky, Chuhunivka, Topoli, etc.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka where the enemy tried to break through their defence.

At 7 pm, as a result of the shelling in Ivashky village, Bohodukhiv region, a two -storey building, private building, private enterprise and gas network were damaged. 

At 4:45 a private house was damaged as a result of shelling in Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region.

At 3:55 pm, the enemy attacked Oleksandrivka village, Bohodukhiv region. There were no casualties.

At 2 pm, a private building was damaged as a result of the shelling in Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.

At 1 pm, a private building, outbuildings and a fence were damaged as a result of Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region. There were no casualties.

At 12:15 pm, a gas distribution point was damaged as a result of the shelling in Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.

Over the course of a day, combined bomb disposal teams cleared 21.67 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast and destroyed 250 explosive ordnance.

The day before, the 51st exchange of prisoners of war took place, in which Ukraine returned 100 citizens. Among them are 2 residents of Kharkiv oblast, both serving in the National Guard. 

Maksym Strelnyk, Deputy Head of the local military administration, says that about 30 K people remain in Izium, while before the full-scale invasion there were about 50 K residents. According to him, there are 10 modular boiler houses in the city.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that yesterday the russian army attacked civilians 13 times. The enemy used aviation, KN-23 missiles, S-300 air defence systems, Uragan and Smerch MRLs, and artillery. 5 settlements were under attack: Avdiivka, Selydove, Kurakhove cities, Ocheretyne settlement and Rai-Oleksandrivka village. 112 civilian objects were damaged, such as 75 residential buildings, 4 educational institutions, administrative buildings, a private enterprise, a sports facility, a hotel, a shop, a car wash, a car park and 25 vehicles.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, in total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 13 times over the day. 71 people, including 4 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Towards Pokrovsk, the invaders launched 2 airstrikes on Avdiivka, killing a man. Two private houses were destroyed. In Marinka community, a house in Heorkiivka and a power line in Illinka were damaged. The outskirts of Novoselivka Persha of Ocheretyne community were shelled. Also russian army shelled Kurakhove with Smerch MRLs, damaging 28 apartment buildings, an administrative building, an educational institution and a hotel.

Towards Kramatorsk, a house was damaged in Torske of Lyman community.

Towards Bakhmut, 2 private houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. A house was damaged in Siversk and Verkhnokamianske of Zvanivka community shelled.

A woman was killed and 7 people injured in a massive missile attack on Selydove. 53 apartment buildings, 11 private houses, 4 educational institutions, 2 administrative buildings, a private enterprise, a car wash, a car park and 24 vehicles were damaged.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Nevske, Bilohorivka and the territory of Serebrianka forest were under hostile shelling yesterday. Bilohorivka suffered another airstrike.

At least once a week, Luhansk police officers visit every de-occupied village in the region, help the locals and record russian war crimes. Yesterday, they also delivered bread and food to Novoliubivka.

The invaders have accumulated utility bills on the accounts of the owners of apartments and houses where russians lived for a year and a half. In some places, the watch of the touring staff, settled by local collaborators, changed several times.

Many of those Sievierodonetsk residents, who remained under occupation, were forced to move to other settlements for the winter period, where they could provide themselves with heat. Those who were unable to do so are trying to stay warm in apartment buildings, most of which have not had their communications restored. For instance, only 15 people currently live in one of these nine-storey buildings.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

In Kyiv, a headquarters for assistance to victims of the January 7 russian missile attack was set up at School No. 286. There, people can apply for compensation for destroyed property, get clothes, food and hot drinks, and representatives of the police and social services work with the victims. The headquarters has also arranged sleeping quarters – 12 residents of a high-rise building in Holosiivskyi district, which caught fire as a result of the russian attack, spent the night in the school. The vast majority of residents whose apartments were damaged were sheltered by relatives and friends.

In Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv, specialists have fully restored the heating network damaged by an air attack by russian troops on February 7. The district’s power supply is operating in regular mode.

According to the regional police, remains a russian X-101 cruise missile was found on the territory of a private household in Kyiv oblast. Explosive experts found that it was a warhead of an unexploded cruise missile. The remains of the missile, which contained approximately 250 kilograms of explosives, were taken to a blasting site for further destruction.

According to Anatolii Fedoruk, Mayor of Bucha, the project in Vorzel for residents who lost their homes during the war is to be expanded. A centre for interaction and recovery will be set up there. The centre will have a local authority office, a modern library and an administrative service centre where residents will be able to get advice on employment and legal support. Physical and psychological rehabilitation, primarily for the military, will be provided there.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, since the beginning of this year, rescuers from Kyiv oblast have made more than 500 combat missions. In addition, training and checks on the readiness of units to perform their assigned duties are conducted daily in all regions. On February 8, rescuers were trained to extinguish a fire in a warehouse and interact with other operational services at an industrial enterprise in Brovary region.

Vitalii Klychko, Mayor of Kyiv, met with the commanders of the 44th separate rifle battalion of the 115th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and handed them over FPV drones. The soldiers are taking part in the fighting in the eastern part of Ukraine.

In February, Kyiv will host four charity concerts featuring well-known Ukrainian performers to raise funds for bone implants and other medical needs of wounded soldiers. The project was launched by the Frolovska 9/11 Volunteer Centre in 2014 to support IDPs who fled the war in the east of Ukraine and the Ukrainian military.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr Regional Employment Centre hosted a meeting on employment and professional development of persons dismissed for health reasons from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and family members of the victims. Employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine agreed with specialists of the employment service on practical actions in case of dismissal of personnel from the service for health reasons. This mainly concerns military personnel who have taken direct part in hostilities and wish to continue working after dismissal.

Vitalii Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr RMA, says that a KIA SORENTO SUV was delivered to a unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. The guy who was supposed to receive the car died at the fighting front, so today his mother handed over the keys to the SUV to her son’s fellow soldier who defended Ukraine side by side with him.

The emergency department at Zhytomyr Hospital No. 2 will be reconstructed by the end of 2024. More than UAH 33 million will be spent on renovation. Part of the funds will be provided by the European Investment Bank and part by the Zhytomyr community.

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy RMA, russians fired 7 times at the border area of Sumy oblast. There were 53 explosions caused by mortar, MLRS and machine gun attacks. Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Esman and Seredyna-Buda communities were under enemy fire.

It is reported that the russian military conducted 41 shelling of the border areas. There were 251 explosions. Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropil, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krolevets, Esman, Shalyhyne, and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled. The enemy fired mortars, artillery, grenade launchers, carried out a tank attack, launched an airstrike, and FPV drone attacks and the dropping of explosive devices from UAVs.

As a result of russian shelling on February 7, a residential building, a lyceum building and a gas pipeline were damaged in Seredyna-Buda. A garage and a car were damaged in Krasnopillia community as a result of enemy shelling. 

During the last exchange of prisoners of war, Pavlo Lytvynenko, resident of Lebedyn in Sumy oblast, and two residents of Shostka region – Maksym Moskovko from Svesa and Serhii Zolotariov from Shostka – returned home. 

According to Sumy RMA, the Security Officer project is being implemented in Sumy oblast. It aims to improve the security environment in educational institutions in today’s realities and create appropriate conditions for children’s education. The project is being implemented in 20 communities on the basis of 63 general secondary education institutions.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, russian troops fired 9 times at the border of Chernihiv oblast. Semenivka community was under fire: 33 mortar strikes, one strike from cannon artillery, and 7 strikes from UAVs.

On February 7, rescuers found a 122 mm artillery shell in an open area in Chernihiv. Pyrotechnics destroyed the shell.

In Chernihiv, the city council has approved a general programme of support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2024. The programme covers social support, assistance to mobilised people and patronage of military units. The deputies also supported the idea of establishing a Veteran’s Space municipal company for psychological rehabilitation and social adaptation of veterans, which will be funded from the city budget.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that late in the evening the enemy shelled Marhanets community of Nikopol region with artillery. During the day the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 5 times with artillery and kamikaze drones. They hit the regional centre, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. In Nikopol, 5 private houses, an outbuilding, a greenhouse and a power line were damaged.

Serhii Lysak, Head of the RMA, reported that another 15 defenders from Dnipropetrovsk oblast returned home from captivity. Most of them are from Kryvyi Rih region and one from Nikopol region.

Vinnytsia oblast

Serhii Morhunov, Vinnytsia Mayor, reported that during the exchange of war prisoners, 2 residents of Vinnytsia oblast returned.

Serhii Morhunov, Vinnytsia Mayor, reported that 2 more powerful off-road vehicles were sent  to the military from Vinnytsia oblast. One of the vehicles is intended for the National Guard. The other will go to Shahed catchers who destroy enemy drones on the approach to the city. 

Kirovohrad oblast

Liudmyla Harazda, Head of Hannivka community, reported that Yevhenia Kisa and Ruslana Zaviriukha from Kirovograd oblast returned from russian captivity.

Poltava oblast

Filip Pronin, Head of the RMA, reported that another pickup truck was sent to the military of Poltava region, Zinkiv community. The vehicle will be used to protect the region.  

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA reported that another Cherkasy resident, Oleksandr Kravets, a defender of Mariupol, was released from captivity as part of an exchange. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

It was reported that the russian military launched 156 strikes at 24 settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast. Occupiers targeted Orikhiv and Novodarivka with 5 aviation bombs, while Huliaipilske, Temyrivka, and Piatyhatky were shelled with MLRS. 58 enemy UAVs attacked Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Charivne, Chervone, Malynivka, Levadne, and Poltavka. 90 artillery strikes hit the territory of Huliaipole, Olhivske, Shcherbaky, Charivne, Malynivka, Bilohiria, Pryiutne, Preobrazhenka, Robotyne, Stepnohirsk, Lobkove, and other frontline cities and villages.

Two civilians were affected by enemy shelling in Stepnohirsk and Huliaipole. Residential and utility buildings were either completely or partially destroyed. A fire broke out in a civilian infrastructure object in Orikhiv due to the russian shelling. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire covering an area of 100 square meters.

The General Staff reported that an enemy attack was repelled west of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Border guards shot down ten russian drones, as reported by Berdiansk Border Guard Unit.

Viktoria Halitsyna, Head of Berdiansk City Military Administration, reports that there were two residents of Berdiansk among those who returned from russian captivity on February 8.

There are problems with water shortage and electricity outage in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk. According to Viktoria Halitsyna, Head of Berdiansk City Military Administration, water supply is absent in almost all of Berdiansk for three days. Additionally, some houses in Berdiansk have been without electricity for two days.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reports that Mykolaiv and Bashtanka regions were attacked by russian drones on February 8 and 9. A fire broke out on a farm, and a medic was injured while being on duty. Ochakiv community was shelled twice. Artillery strikes hit the water area.

Two books titled “People’s Heroes of Ukraine” were presented in Mykolaiv on February 8. Violetta Kirtoka,author of the books, says that there are 45 stories about military personnel, volunteers, medics, journalists, and public figures involved in the war that began in 2014. 

Representatives of Stichting Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (NPO, Dutch Public Broadcaster) visited Pervomaisk. The guests came to create a film about Ukraine in the conditions of war.

Odesa oblast

The press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority informs that an Italian delegation, led by Special Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Davide La Cecilia, visited the port of Odesa. The guests emphasized Italy’s commitment to assist in the reconstruction of port critical infrastructure, particularly in restoring capacities involved in exporting goods. 

Scientists from the State University of Intellectual Technologies and Communications are actively working on strengthening defence capabilities and security of our country. Some developments by Ukrainian researchers are already being actively used on the front lines. One such innovation is the camouflage cloak, or “invisibility cloak,” developed by Dr. Konstantyn Boriak in collaboration with his son, military serviceman Maksym Boriak. The cloak “dissolves” the visual image of the serviceman in his location, making recognition difficult. As the scientist noted, the cost of one experimental sample of the cloak is approximately 400 euros, which is five times cheaper than NATO analogs. Several recent models of “invisibility cloaks” have already been handed over to the military. However, the team needs a government order to launch mass production.

Kherson oblast

A man injured during yesterday’s russian shelling of Kachkarivka was hospitalized. The 74-year-old local resident sustained injuries in his own home. He was diagnosed with a concussion, cranial-brain injuries, and explosive trauma.

Yesterday, the enemy carried out 82 attacks, releasing 342 shells from artillery, mortars, MLRS, tanks, UAVs, and aviation. The city of Kherson was targeted with 43 shells. Two civilians were killed, and two others wounded, including a police officer due to russian aggression. The police opened 12 investigations into war crimes committed by russian forces in Kherson oblast.

The towns affected by enemy combined attacks included Kherson, Nadezhdivka, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Romashkove, Sadove, Mykilske, Kizomys, Stanislav, Naddniprianske, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Chervonyi Maiak, Krupytsia, Lvove, Kachkarivka, Mylove, Shliakhove, and Tomaryne. 65 objects were damaged, including 49 private houses, 2 multi-story buildings, critical infrastructure facilities, outpatient clinics, village council buildings, former cultural centres, agrofirms, agricultural machinery, buses, gas pipelines, and a transformer substation.

The enemy launched airstrikes on Chervonyi Maiak, Krupytsia, Kachkarivka, and Mylove. Explosions in Chervonyi Maiak damaged the stadium, the village council building, and the former cultural center. Private houses and the agrofirm’s territory were damaged in Krupytsia. At least 24 buildings became unfit for habitation in Kachkarivka.

Kherson was shelled with artillery and mortars, causing destruction and damage to residential buildings in all city districts, with damage to critical infrastructure buildings.

A powerful counter-battery battle continues in the Southern Defense Forces operational zone. Yesterday, the enemy attempted 2 unsuccessful assaults to dislodge our units from the left bank of the Dnipro. After suffering losses, russian assault troops withdrew to their original positions. Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold the positions, gradually reinforcing and expanding the foothold.

Ukraine’s defence forces continue to inflict fire damage on enemy positions. It was confirmed that the enemy on the left bank lost 39 occupiers, 3 Grad MLRS, 3 units of rocket-artillery weaponry, 5 mortars, 1 electronic warfare system, and 6 units of automotive equipment.

Almost 70K hectares of Kherson fields are sown with winter crops. It was achieved due to accelerated land demining. This year, the total sown area is expected to be around 136K hectares, depending on the security situation in the region.

Kherson residents received 10 water purification filters from Khmelnytskyi volunteers. The aid came from the German city of Ahim through the Volunteers of Podillia Charitable Foundation. Residents of local communities received water treatment stations.

A new water tower was installed in the village of Kalynivske, successfully restoring centralized water supply. The implementation of this important project was made possible thanks to the charitable foundation Sky of Ukraine.

Residents from Zmiivka received building kits for emergency housing repairs, warm blankets, mattresses, pillows, bedding, utensils, and solar-powered lamps. 114 families continue to stay in the village and need support.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA held an operational meeting. They discussed the support of the civilian population and IDPs, the veteran policy and provision of social services. In particular, last year, UAH 75 mln was allocated for Volyn to purchase apartments for 37 participants in the hostilities. Another UAH 1 mln was spent on professional rehabilitation.

Zakarpattia oblast

A military from Zakarpattia will join the new leadership team of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi is a hero of Ukraine, Commander of the 59th motorized infantry brigade. 

The delegation of Zakarpattia Regional Council presented the construction project of the military rehabilitation centre in the Czech city of Hradec Kralove. The leadership of the Kralovohradec Region supported the initiative and will finance part of the construction works.

Viktor Mykyta, Head of the RMA, visited Hungarian educational centres where children of Ukrainian forced migrants are currently receiving education in the Ukrainian language. He handed over 520 textbooks by Ukrainian authors to the institution.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA reported that during yesterday’s exchange, Oleksii Kupriienko from Halician community, who went missing last year in June in Bakhmut region, was released.

Three annotation boards to Vitalii Dutchak, Oleh Dziubka and Bohdan Dolishnyi, who were killed in the russian-Ukrainian war were opened on the facade of Lyceum #15.

Lviv oblast

Among those who returned home from russian captivity yesterday are two border guard brothers from Yavoriv region. Mykola and Roman Horyn from Novoyavorivska community served in the 23rd detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine. Fighters fought for Ukrainian Mariupol. In May 2022, they were taken prisoner in the Azovstal plant.

Defender Mykola Ostash from Turka returned home from captivity. Among the freed is also Taras Haba, senior soldier of the 24th bridge named after King Danylo, driver of the fire support company of the motorized infantry battalion. The man was captured while performing a combat mission near Popasna.

The RMA held a meeting with Andrzej Sheptycki, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland, and representatives of the Polish educational environment. They discussed the situation in the educational environment. Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of Lviv RMA, reported that currently, there are approximately 70K IDP children living in Lviv oblast, and these are only those who are officially registered against 100K unofficial.

The Ministry of Defense and Lviv City Council, is launching a pilot project for the recruitment of the Ukrainian army in Lviv. As early as next week, the Center will be able to find out all the relevant information about vacancies in the army, communicate with brigade representatives and choose the desired profession in the army.

Rivne oblast

Rivne Regional Philharmonic Hall will host the opening of the exhibition called Next: I will Get My Life Back. The project is dedicated to the memory of Maksym Dali Kryvtsov, talented poet and military man from Rivne. The exhibition will consist of 24 photographs by Maksym and his poems. All photographs will be available for purchase. Funds from the sale of works will be transferred to preserve the hero’s memory. Visitors will also participate in an auction of Maksym’s photo works, the proceeds of which will be transferred to support and preserve the memory of the hero.

Dubenskyi region became the second in the oblast to host training for community specialists on the implementation of veteran policy. Previously, such training took place in Rivne region. During the educational seminar, rehabilitation, mental health and the system of providing social services for veterans and their family members were discussed.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA reported that two residents of Ternopil oblast returned home from russian captivity. The fighters come from Velikoberezovytska and Zborivska communities.

Ternopil City Council reported that as part of the Defense Capability program, the community sent 20 FPV drones in a set (unmanned aviation complex) to the airmobile brigade performing special tasks in the area of ​​hostilities.

For the needs of servicemen of the 3rd Assault Brigade,  a refrigerator car and fuel were sent by Ternopil educators, teachers, educators, students and parents.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Over the last 10 days, Khmelnytskyi sent 5 DJI Mavic 3T Termal quadcopters, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters, 7 FPV bomber drones with thermal imaging (self-built), repair equipment, tools, gas cylinders and chemical heaters to various units of the Defense Forces thanks to the budget funds, the own funds of heads of city council departments and the funds of benefactors.

Chernivtsi oblast

Ruslan Mitsneyi, defender of Bukovyna, was freed from russian captivity. He comes from Myhalchi, Kamian Community. Before the full-scale war, he served in Mariupol under a contract. Therefore, together with other heroes, he held the defence of Azovstal. Ruslan’s wife and child managed to evacuate, now they live in Chernivtsi.

The next meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine will be held on February 14, at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Finland will soon send  the 22nd package of military aid to Ukraine worth about EUR 190 mln. With this package, the total value of Finland’s military aid to Ukraine has reached EUR 1.8 bln. The content of the package and the approximate time of delivery of these weapons to Ukraine are not disclosed for security reasons.

Oliver Vargei, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, said that the first tranche of EUR 50 bln, new funds to support Ukraine, is expected at the beginning of March. On February 1, all 27 states of the EU agreed to provide Ukraine with EUR 50 bln in aid.

Oleksandr Karasevich, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands, reported that this year, the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. The exact date has not yet been announced.

The UN called on russia to provide information on the number of children deported from Ukraine and their whereabouts. The committee also stressed that russia should ensure that no child is deprived of Ukrainian citizenship, and that their names and information about family ties remain unchanged.

The Time American magazine published an article about the fact that Ukraine already cooperates with such companies as Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Starlink and has become the best training ground for all the latest technologies.
