It has been the 711th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, they do not abandon the plans to completely occupy Ukraine, violate the laws and customs of war, use terror tactics, launch.strikes, and attack both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains tense.

There were 59 combat engagements. The occupiers launched 32 air strikes and carried out 37 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian injuries. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes and signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, they maintain its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Mala Vovcha, Ustynivka, Vilkhuvatka, Kolodiazne (Kharkiv oblast). More than 35 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Kliusy, Baranivka, Hremiach, Bohdanove (Chernihiv oblast), Volodymyrivka, Stepok, Pokrovka, Hrabovske (Sumy oblast), Vesele, Hatysche, Budarky (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, they conducted no offensives. The occupiers launched air strikes near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne and Pischane (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Synkivka, Tabaivka, Ivanivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 assaults in the vicinity of Terny (Donetsk oblast). They made attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense. The enemy fired from artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Yampolivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks in the vicinity of Bohdanivka and Klischiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. Over 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Klischiivka, Andriivka, New York (Donetsk oblast). 

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 21 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and 10 more attacks near Tonenke, Sieverne, Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast). In that area, with air support, the occupiers ade attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders fired from artillery and mortars at over 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne, Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Mariinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinity of Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, with air support, the enemy made 5.unsuccessful attempts to improve its tactical situation. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka were under the occupiers’ artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Shakhtarsk, they conducted no offensives. The occupiers launched an air strike in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired from artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 2 attacks north of Pryiutne and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). In that area, the occupiers made attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense, to no success. 30.settlements, including Poltavka, Chervone, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Kamianaske (Zaporizhzhia oblast) were shelled.

Towards Kherson, the occupiers do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, the enemy made 2 unsuccessful assaults on positions of Ukrainian troops. They fired from artillery at the city of Kherson, the settlements of Tokarivka, Darivka, Dniprovske (Kherson oblast). On top of that, the invaders launched MLRS strikes at the settlements of Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Krynky (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian Air Forces launched air strikes on 5 buildups of troops of the occupiers.


The occupiers are preparing a mass settlement of the captured territories of Ukraine under the Soviet code name “Zaporizhzhia virgin land”. The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, also emphasized that they threaten Ukrainians who do not want to receive russian passports with deportation.

The export of products through the Ukrainian corridor almost reached pre-war indicators. For example, 6.3 million tons of cargo were exported in January.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 51 russian attacks towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Shakhtarske and Marinka on 3 February. Most of russian attacks were towards Avdiivka.

Kharkiv oblast

About 17 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attacks yesterday, including Kozacha Lopan, Ohirtseve, Mala Vovcha, Pishchane, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, etc.

The invaders launched airstrikes against Budarky, Kolodiazne, Hryhorivka, Kupiansk, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka and Pischane.

At around 1 pm, during an enemy shelling of Okhrymivka village, Chuhuiv region, the property of an agricultural enterprise was damaged, such as, hangars, agricultural machinery and storage facilities. There were no casualties.

At approximately 2 pm, there was an enemy shelling of Hlushkivka village, Kupiansk region. Windows, roofs and roofs of two private households were damaged. Preliminary, the invaders used two guided aerial bombs. A 26-year-old civilian man was injured and taken to hospital.

At about 2 pm, the enemy attacked Hryhorivka village, Kupiansk region, with KAB bombs. As a result, 2 private households were damaged.

At around 3 pm, the invaders attacked Kotliarivka village, Kupiansk region, with mortars. There were no casualties.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 5 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 24.2 hectares of mines and destroyed 183 explosive ordnance.

Rohan community has received significant support from the government, international humanitarian and charitable organisations. 96% of social infrastructure, 53% of critical infrastructure and 46% of residential infrastructure have already been repaired.

Donetsk oblast

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that russian troops shelled Toretsk with artillery at around 1 pm on 4 February, killing at least one person and injuring two others. The injured were taken to hospital.

The press service of Donetsk police informed that russian troops attacked the region 12 times, injuring one person. 8 settlements were under attack: Avdiivka, Pokrovsk, Novohrodivka cities, Hrodivka, Pivnichne, Zarichne settlements, Maksymilianivka and Netailove villages. 9 civilian objects were damaged, such as, 3 residential buildings, a garage, an outbuilding, a factory, a building of the State Emergency Service and cars.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, towards Pokrovsk, 1 person was injured in Maksymilianivka of Marinka community. Avdiivka and the outskirts of Ocheretyne community suffered isolated attacks. In Kurakhove community, 2 apartment buildings in Horishne and an administrative building in Kurakhove were damaged. An enterprise was damaged in Pokrovsk.

Towards Bakhmut, 4 houses and an industrial building were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. Pivnichne of Toretsk community, Rozdolivka, Nykyforivka and the outskirts of Vasiukivka of Soledar community were shelled. A house was damaged in Serebrianka of Siversk community.

Dmytro Lazutkin, Head of the public relations service of the 47th Mahura brigade, said that russian troops did not advance north of Avdiivka, specifically in the area of Stepove and near the coke plant. Also, russian army losses are 10 times higher than those of Ukrainian army.

Khrystyna Voiak, Soldier of Rubizh National Guard Brigade, stated that russian troops have advanced to Chasiv Yar by 5-7 kilometres and are using artillery. Also russian army plans to capture Chasiv Yar on the border of Donetsk.

A holiday in Zakarpattia was organised for 14 children from 10 communities in Donetsk oblast as part of a programme of psychological rehabilitation and health improvement for children affected by russian federation’s aggression.

In January, volunteers of Proliska humanitarian mission resumed evacuation from Donetsk oblast to Dnipro. You can leave for free from Kurakhove and Toretsk and there is a special vehicle for the injured and sick.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military administration, the enemy resumed hostilities near Bilohorivka and in Serebrianka forest, where several of its attacks were repelled.

Several times a week, residents of the de-occupied villages are offered assistance in evacuating and further solving their priority issues. However, people do not agree so quickly, remaining in danger. The day before, bread was delivered to Hrekivka and Makiivka and several requests from the locals were completed. Specifically, clothes and medicines they needed were delivered.

There is only one ambulance crew on duty in Alchevsk, which has a population of 100,000. Unlike in frontline cities, it is quite possible to make a call. However, the operator immediately warns about the queue and the many hours of delay. Cases where people did not wait for help and died by morning became regular.     

For the second winter in a row, the occupation authorities have ignored numerous reports from villagers about the threat of flooding. Last year in Borivske, everything was resolved in April but naturally as no measures were taken. This problem has returned. First, in Borivske, Syrotyne and Bobrove, then in Voronove, where water is already standing in the yards.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The delegation of the French Republic arrived in the capital. The delegation included Emmanuel Bonn, diplomatic adviser to the President of France, Fabien Mandon, chief of the military staff of the President of France, and advisers to the President of France Xavier Chatel and Bertrand Bouchvalter. At the meeting with the French delegation at the Presidential Office on January 3, the main focus was on the security situation and the priority needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces to counter russian aggression. During the visit, Emmanuel Bonn laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of those who died for Ukraine on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv.

Ian Borg, the current OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta, visited Hostomel, Bucha and Borodianka during his visit to Ukraine to see first-hand the devastating consequences of russian aggression. Borg also met with the families of three Ukrainian OSCE SMM staff members illegally detained by russia.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Kyiv RMA, reported that almost 17,000 facilities damaged as a result of the hostilities have already been restored in Kyiv oblast. Due to russia’s constant attacks on the oblast, the number of damaged facilities is growing. To date, more than 29,000 facilities have been damaged or destroyed.

According to Anatolii Fedoruk, Mayor of Bucha, the Bucha community has updated social assistance programmes for servicemen and their families. The updated programme covers family members who live or are registered in the Bucha community. In 2024, family members of a fallen soldier can receive a fixed allowance from the local budget once a year, children of fallen soldiers can receive monthly allowances, and soldiers can also receive assistance for medical treatment.

Food parcels from German partners have arrived in Kyiv. They will be distributed among IDPs living in the Darnytskyi district. The assistance will be given to the most vulnerable categories of IDPs. Darnytskyi district is a leader in the number of IDPs in the capital. In total, almost 70,000 people are registered there, more than half of whom moved after the invasion.

Zhytomyr oblast

The Zhytomyr community budget allocated UAH 1.2 million for the needs of the military hospital. The Zhytomyr community budget will be used to purchase equipment that is primarily needed for treatment. This assistance is planned to be systematic – the city council will work with the list of needs compiled by the hospital’s doctors.

In 2023, residents of the Zhytomyr oblast submitted 999 applications for microgrants for business development under the Own Business programme. Following their consideration, the State Employment Centre made 520 positive decisions totalling over UAH 125 million. Within six months of receiving the funds, the programme winners pledged to create 1108 new jobs.

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy RMA, at night, russian soldiers shelled Seredyna-Buda community. There were 4 mortar explosions.

On January 3, russians fired 16 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. There were 76 explosions from mortars, artillery, grenade launchers and a UAV (FPV drone) attack. Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman communities were shelled.

Towards Sumy, the Territorial Defence Forces prevented an attempt by a russian subversive reconnaissance group to cross the state border of Ukraine. In the evening of January 3, the Territorial Defence Forces spotted the movement of an armed group of 10 people on the outskirts of Hlukhiv community. A small arms battle ensued, followed by mortar launchers and a counter-sabotage group. After an hour and a half of fighting, the enemy subversive group retreated beyond the border with losses.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, russian military fired mortar shells at Semenivka and Snovsk communities. There were 26 explosions.

Viacheslav Chaus, head of the RMA, reported that Melanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, visited Chernihiv oblast. During the meeting, an air raid alert was announced, so the presentation on the state of affairs in Chernihiv oblast and the conversation with Melanie Joly continued in a shelter.

Thanks to the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine Fund, which is also funded by the Government of Canada, the communities received a range of specialised equipment. In addition, housing, medical, social and educational facilities are being restored in the oblast. Plans are underway to install a new warning system in Chernihiv.

Recently, three communities in the oblast have joined the Community Led Inclusive Recovery (CLIR) initiative implemented by the SURGe project. This will help them improve their ability to plan and manage their own recovery priorities.

The Chernihiv District Court is hearing the case of russian soldiers who tried to rape a woman and threatened to shoot her children. Mykola Budayev, a soldier of the 55th Separate Motorised Rifle Brigade, and Fayzibek Nematov, a soldier of the 423rd Guards Motorised Rifle Regiment, are being tried in absentia. They are being tried for violating the laws of war, committed during the occupation of a village near Chernihiv in March 2022.

Oleksandr Lomako, acting mayor of Chernihiv, reported that in 2024, Chernihiv plans to launch a trolleybus to the Sherstianka neighbourhood and restore discounted travel to the Podusivka neighbourhood. Residents of Podusivka in Chernihiv were left without social public transport after active hostilities in March 2022. The contact network for trolleybuses was damaged in the neighbourhood.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that the enemy shelled Nikopol with artillery twice during the day. They fired about a dozen shells. An administrative building, 9 private houses, 5 outbuildings were damaged, another one was completely destroyed, as well as a car, a power line and fences.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia Lyceum No. 29 has purchased medical equipment and medicines for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus the students of You are not alone volunteer center decided to support the defenders who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation after being wounded.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava defenders’ relatives organised a rally to support Ukrainian POWs and Azovstal defenders who have been in russian captivity for more than a year and a half.

Philip Pronin, Head of the RMA reported that in Poltava region in Poltava Regional Center Of Scientific And Technical Creativity students are learning to fly drones. On weekends they master theoretical knowledge. They study the design of aircraft, programming, adjustment and repair. Students can also practise on computer simulators with drone flight simulators. On weekends they practise their skills.

Cherkasy oblast

A rally in support of war prisoners was held in Cherkasy. Participants lit flares and played a Ukrainian nationalist’s prayer.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, on February 4, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the frontline positions of Ukrainian defenders near the village of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The President received information about the operational situation from the commander of the operational group “Zaporizhzhia,” Volodymyr Horbatiuk. President Zelenskyy also visited the location of the 65th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he spoke with the defenders and presented them with state awards.

Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled two attacks north of Priutne and Robotyne. According to the General Staff, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defense of our troops in that area.

Yesterday, occupiers launched 104 attacks on 22 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Olhivske, Bilohiria, Shcherbaky, Poltavka, Robotyne, Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, and other frontline towns and villages were shelled 80 times. russian forces carried out an airstrike on Novodarivka, shelled Verkhnia Tersa with MLRS, and attacked Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Charivne, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, and Lobkove with 22 drones. There were six reports regarding the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.

The President introduced the newly appointed head of the Zaporizhzhia RMA Ivan Fedorov, at a meeting on the security situation in Zaporizhzhia oblast. President Zelenskyi emphasized the importance of regional leadership working directly on-site and understanding the specifics of the region. He stressed the need to achieve the necessary results in the construction of fortifications.

Mykolaiv oblast

On February 3, russian army attacked Kutsurub community using artillery and FPV drones. Private houses were damaged in the village of Dmytrivka. The waters and the city of Ochakiv were also shelled. There is no information about casualties. 

Invencibility Center supported by charitable organizations “The Howard G. Buffett Foundation,” “We Are Power,” and “Nova Ukraine” has started operating in Mykolaiv. It also serves as a recreation center for adults and children. There are activities for preschoolers and children of primary and middle school age, English language courses, and classes on making motanka dolls, part of which are handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On Sunday, February 4, the “We Are the Voice of the Captive” car rally  took place in Mykolaiv. The large-scale event was held to support Ukrainian soldiers who are prisoners of war or missing in action. The goal of the rally was to draw attention to the issue of returning Ukrainian prisoners of war. Around five hundred participants with unit flags drove through the city streets.

Odesa oblast

The construction of the “Reni” border crossing point in Odesa oblast is nearing completion to launch joint customs and border control with Moldova. This is one of the stages in creating a unified “green corridor” between three countries: border crossing points “Reni (Ukraine) – Giurgiulești (Moldova) – Galați (Romania).” This aims to establish a land grain corridor between the border crossing points “Reni – Giurgiulești – Galați,” which is expected to expedite the movement of goods and the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.

On February 3, an exhibition of works by the photographer Denys Kryvyi, who tragically passed away in May of last year in Bakhmut, opened at the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art. The exhibition will run until February 29, and all funds raised from it will go towards purchasing drones for the Special Operations Forces unit where Denys served.

Kherson oblast

Today, the russian army shelled one of the villages in Bilozerka community. A residential building caught fire as a result of an enemy shelling. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.

Kherson RMA reported that today a woman injured during the shelling of Kachkariivka on February 2 was hospitalized. The 76-year-old local resident suffered chest injuries, multiple hematomas on limbs and torso, and blast injuries.

Yesterday, the russian army launched 37 attacks at Kherson oblast, firing more than 90 shells from MLRS, artillery, mortars, tanks, aircraft, and UAVs. Kherson, Inzhenerne, Sofiivka, Chornobaivka, Sadove, Tokarivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Zmiivka, and Lvove were under enemy shelling.

The enemy conducted airstrikes with guided bombs on Chervonyi Maiak and Zmiivka, damaging private houses. Drones dropped explosive devices in Sofiivka, causing damage to two vehicles.

The russians continued shelling Kherson, causing significant damage to residential buildings and infrastructure in Korabelnyi, Central districts, and the coastal part of Dniprovskyi district. Artillery shells hit a gas pipeline, water pipelines, private houses, and multi-story buildings were damaged.

Powerful daily counter-battery combat continues in the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces.Yesterday, the enemy attempted five unsuccessful assaults to dislodge Ukrainian units from positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The occupiers persistently conduct aerial reconnaissance, apply artillery shelling, use a large number of various types of combat drones, and continue to launch attacks with guided aerial bombs and unguided aviation rockets.

The Defense Forces continue to inflict fire damage on the enemy’s deployment areas, fire positions, and rear areas. Over the past day, confirmed enemy losses on the left bank amounted to 54 occupiers, 1 howitzer, 1 mortar, and 2 armored vehicles. Another UAV control point was destroyed.

Last week, demining units of the State Special Transport Service discovered, confiscated, and neutralized 693 explosive objects in Kherson oblast. Pyrotechnics cleared and checked an area of 2,335 hectares in the southern regions. Specifically, 2,306.19 hectares in Kherson oblast and almost 29 hectares in Mykolaiv oblast.

Volunteers from GEM HGBF visited Komyshany, Antonivka, and Molodizhne. Local residents received food and family kits.

Volyn oblast

A charity fair was held in Horohovo thanks to the Create Good volunteer movement and United we stand. Students and teachers of the college collected UAH 8,4K for the military.

Zakarpattia oblast

In the Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center this week, IDPs registered in Uzhgorod received 40 packages with necessary things for children under 1 year old; 50 packages with grocery sets; 50 packages with hygiene kits, clothes, shoes, bed linen and dishes (1,5K items) thanks to PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. V., Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help e.V. and other benefactors.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Carpathian rehabilitators will learn from specialists from leading clinics in Germany. The all-Ukrainian training program involves medics from Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council’s Medical Center and the Dolyna Multispecialty Hospital medical center. They, together with their colleagues from all over the country, will undergo an internship in Europe for 30 days.

Lviv oblast

Memorial plaques were installed in Khodorivska community to the fallen graduates Vasyl Dobrich and Volodymyr Kuzenkov. Commemorative signs appeared on the facade of Vovchatytsia gymnasium. Vasyl Dobrich is a senior soldier, a gunner of the airmobile platoon of military unit A4350. He was killed in January 2023 in the battle for Ukraine in Donetsk oblast. Volodymyr Kuzenko is an Afghan soldier, junior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in military unit A3618. He also served as a military instructor at the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security. He was killed in September 2023.

Over UAH 52K was collected by residents and students of Murovan Community for the defenders. During the Light a Street Candle – Extinguish a Terrible War charity event, children made Street candles with their own hands, which were then sold to donate to the needs of the army.

Rivne oblast

In Rivne oblast, a project on professional training of combatants is being implemented. Oleksandr Koval, Head of Rivne RMA, reported that 18 combatants are already studying at Rivne Center of Vocational Education. All of them acquire the profession of driver of various categories. The term of study is up to six months. The programs cover 95 labor professions. The course is free. Reimbursements for travel, accommodation and medical expenses are also available. The experimental project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of veterans in the labor market.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil, at the monastery near the Church of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God, the UGCC operates the Center for Work with People with Disabilities. The center works with the support of the Caritas Austria CF as part of the Humanitarian aid for People Affected by the War in Ukraine project.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council held an extraordinary session. Material assistance was allocated for 7 households affected by the terrorist attack (UAH 140K). In total, almost 500 households received such assistance in the amount of almost UAH 12 mln. Material assistance was allocated for the families of captured and missing soldiers. This time it is 15 families for UAH 60K, the total amount is UAH 900K.

Chernivtsi oblast

The European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative and Chernivtsi City Council signed a memorandum. Cooperation continues to strengthen transparency and efficiency of management. In Phase III, they plan to strengthen the capacity of the City Council in the field of internal audit and assessment of corruption risks.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Ukraine received a new aid package worth €80 mln from Estonia. The Ministry of Defense of Estonia reported that the aid package included Javelin anti-tank missiles, as well as machine guns, ammunition for small arms, various ground and water equipment, as well as diving equipment.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with the delegation of the French Republic, which included diplomatic adviser to Emmanuel Bonn, President of France, Fabien Mandon, Head of the military staff of the President of France, Xavier Chatel and Bertrand Buschwalter, Advisers to the President of France. They discussed in detail a wide range of topical issues of the international and bilateral agenda. The main attention was paid to the security situation and the priority needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to resist russian aggression.

Lloyd Austin, US Defense Minister, announced that they do not have any evidence of misuse or illegal transfer to third parties of American weapons provided to Ukraine. “Ukraine uses all the weapons provided to protect against russian aggression,” he noted. According to him, the US continues to work hard on monitoring and reporting on US security assistance provided to Ukraine.

IAEA conducted an inspection of Chornobyl NPP. It is noted that the inspection lasted from January 31 to February 2 as part of the agreement between Ukraine and IAEA in connection with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The inspection was carried out by the inspectors of the Agency with the participation of the inspector of the State Atomic Energy Regulatory Commission.

The Lithuanian government has banned military personnel from visiting russia, belarus and China. As reported by the Ministry of Defense, the list of these countries was compiled based on the results of an assessment of risks and threats to national security.

The Diet of Latvia reported that the country banned national sports teams from playing against the national teams of russia and belarus. It is indicated that the ban will also apply if athletes from the russian federation and belarus participate in competitions under a neutral flag. This means that if there is a draw and the national team of Latvia has to play russia or belarus, international sports organizations will have to respect Latvian legislation. The Diet emphasized that the key purpose of amendments to the law is to confirm Latvia’s solidarity with Ukraine. Thus, the country seeks to “fundamentally block any attempts by russia to legitimize its war crimes through the sports sphere.”
