The enemy is concentrating its efforts on restraining the actions of the units of the Defense Forces. Towards Avdiivka and Bakhmut, the enemy is on the offensive, and aviation is actively used to support ground groups.
The occupiers launched 2 rocket strikes, and over 10 MLRS attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements along the front line. Once again, civil infrastructure facilities of the cities of Nikopol and Kherson were hit.
Ukraine is still under a threat of enemy missile strikes on the facilities of the energy system and critical infrastructure.
Towards Volyn and Polissia, the situation has not changed significantly. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected.
Towards Siversk, the enemy shelled the settlements of Sopych, Svarkove, and Zarutske of Sumy oblast with mortars.
Towards Sloboda, the enemy troops are stationed in the border areas of Belgorod region. Shevchenko, Strileche, Krasne, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha, Dvorichna, and Bohdanivske, Kharkiv oblast were shelled with artillery of various calibers.
The enemy is on the defensive towards Kupiansk and Lyman. The areas of the settlements of Kislivka, Kotlyarivka, Tabaivka, Krokhmalne, Berestove and Vyshneve of the Kharkiv oblast came under fire from tanks and artillery. Makiivka and Ploschanka in Luhansk oblast Yampolivka in Donetsk oblast were also struck.
Towards Bakhmut and Avdiivka, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on conducting offensive operations and is trying to improve its tactical position. The populated areas of Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Kurdyumivka, Avdiyivka, Vodyane, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk oblast were shelled with tanks and various types of artillery.
The enemy is on the defensive towards Novopavlivsk. They fired from mortars, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of Neskuchne, Zolota Nyva and Prechystivka in Donetsk oblast.
The enemy is conducting defensive operations towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. Its artillery shelling was recorded in the areas of over twenty-five settlements near the front line. These are the cities of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, and Kherson.
The occupiers restrict the rights and freedoms of civilians in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region. Thus, under the guise of measures to combat sabotage intelligence groups, the occupiers set up a roadblock on the Chaika River and prohibited the passage of private boats.
In the temporarily occupied Skadovsk region, postal workers stopped delivering payments to pensioners. The invaders force elderly people to write applications and receive passports and citizenship of the russian federation in post offices to get their pension.
The enemy continues to suffer losses in Donetsk and Luhansk directions. Medical facilities in the city of Donetsk are full of wounded enemy servicemen. Planned surgeries for civilian patients have been postponed. Wounded patients are not accepted. Up to 300 wounded russian occupiers have been brought to Novopskov Territorial Medical Association of the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk oblast in recent days.
According to the General Staff, the last 2022 training series has concluded in the UK, conducted since mid-summer by OpUNIFIER Canadian Armed Forces instructors in the UK, in close coordination with the British Army. Іnstructors have taught Ukrainian soldiers the fundamental skills they will need to defend their country and their families from russian aggression upon their return to Ukraine.
The spokesperson of Urkoboronprom Nataliia Sad informed on air of the telemarathon that Ukroboronprom held a series of successful tests of Ukrainian attack drones with an effective distance of about a thousand kilometers. “We held a series of successful tests. Now at the order of head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine we are launching the new stage of testing under the impact of radio electronic safety equipment”, she pointed out.
Based on the police data, since the war started 9400 civilians were killed, about 6800 were wounded. The police is documenting new cases of civilians’ murder and death on the newly reclaimed territories.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor, Oleksandr Filchakov, said that 1635 people were killed as a result of russian armed aggression in Kharkiv oblast. Almost 9.5K war crimes are being investigated in the region.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops shelled 15 settlements.
Russians shelled Zolovhiv with artillery in the afternoon by destroying a private building. There were no casualties.
Yesterday, the invaders again launched artillery and missile strikes in Kupiansk region. In Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, the road surface and transport infrastructure were damaged as a result of the shelling. At around 11 pm, russians launched S-300 missiles and damaged windows and roofs of 5 private buildings in Shevchenkove community. At about 3 am, Shevchenkove settlement was targeted once again. There were no casualties.
Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that local authorities together with volunteers continue voluntary evacuation of residents as shelling is increasing. Currently, 185 people are willing to move. Evacuation to safer places in Kharkiv oblast continues.
In addition, russians shelled the settlements of Vovchansk community, Izium region and Kharkiv district. There were no casualties.
Head of Without Borders art centre, Halyna Pohorielova, informed that over a thousand people have visited the art therapy centre in Pervomaisk since the full-scale war began. Volunteer psychologists work free of charge with fifty children and several dozen adults who need psychological support.
Donetsk oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, air defense of the Eastern group of forces shot down russian Ka-52 combat helicopter.
At night, russians continued shelling along the front line from Kurakhove to Lyman communities.
In Donetsk direction, one person was injured in Kurakhove, the extent of destruction is being established. Heorhiivka and Marinka were also targeted. There were no casualties.
In Horlivka direction, one person was killed in Predtechyne of Kostiantynivka community as a result of shelling. Toretsk was attacked twice with Grad MRLs – 2 apartment, 2 private buildings and outbuildings were damaged. There was no information about the casualties.
Towards Lysychansk, there were numerous attacks on Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community. The aftermath is being clarified.
Referring to the head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, russians killed one civilian in Predtechyne yesterday. 5 people were injured.
Mariupol Mayor’s Councillor, Petro Andriushchenko, said that the building in the occupied city, which can be seen on the satellite image of Maxar company, is not a russian military complex, but a morgue. Maxar Technologies published a photo of the building in Mariupol on December 3, calling it a “newly built military complex” of russians. According to Andriushchenko, the photo shows a morgue disguised as a diagnostic center. He noted that the morgue has an area of 7K square meters.
Luhansk oblast
The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the enemy continues to suffer losses in Donetsk and Luhansk directions. Recently up to 300 injured russian invaders were delivered to the Novopskov Territorial Medical Association.
Based on the information provided by Luhansk Regional Military Administration, yesterday, Defence Forces units repelled the enemy’s attacks near Bilohorivka and Ploshchanka. Russians shelled these settlements and Makiivka with tanks and artillery of different calibre.
The weather is in favor of Ukrainian troops in Kreminna and Svatove directions. Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, said: “We look forward to good news in the near future, which will help the Armed Forces succeed”. According to him, towards Bakhmut, specifically, in Bilohorivka region, russians use artillery and aviation, trying to break through the defense of the Armed Forces.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland visited Kyiv. In two days, she held a significant number of meetings with government representatives, parliamentarians, public activists, and was also received at the embassy. Victoria Nuland explained that she arrived in Kyiv on Friday together with Foreign Minister Kuleba from the OSCE ministerial meeting. Her visit was not disclosed.
The training on the most basic and effective self-defense skills for women of any age and physical shape was held in Kyiv by the Ukrainian Women’s Guard. All participants were working on key self-defense tactics. They learned how to use easily available impromptu means for their defense, investigated physical capacities of the offender and did some exercises on overcoming psychological barriers to resist the offense.
According to Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Naev, the air defense units protecting the sky above the critical infrastructure facilities of Kyiv and the region are on constant combat duty and “enhancing their professional skills every day.” The overall target kill rate is over 75%, which is a significant figure, but work is ongoing to improve the result. Separate groups of units that provide cover for important facilities are strengthened by weapons received from partner countries.
A peaceful rally was held on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv, calling for the return of prisoners of war from russian captivity as soon as possible. Relatives of captured soldiers unfurled the flags of the captured soldiers’s brigades. The day before, a rally was held in the capital in support of the prisoners with a call for their release. Since February 24, more than 1,300 Ukrainians have returned from russian captivity.

Zhytomyr oblast
According to Zhytomyr Oblenerho in Zhytomyr Oblast, electricity was cut off according to a schedule divided into three sectors. Schedules do not apply to critical infrastructure facilities and structures that are powered by the same networks as them.
A winter art picnic for internally displaced persons was held in Zhytomyr as part of the “Open Space of Like-minded People” project. The visitors of the educational event were introduced to the cultural, artistic and educational projects of the city, they were invited to take part in interesting master classes, meet with a psychologist and a lawyer. 194 IDPs, that is about 70 families, registered to participate in the event.
International aid continues to be provided to Zhytomyr oblast. Olev community received a bus from the Portuguese city of Moran to transport children to local schools. This need in most communities of the region increased during the war.
The charity fair “Strength in Unity” in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was organized by the league of high school students of the Chudniv Lyceum. Such charitable actions at the lyceum were started back in 2014, and they continue to this day. At the fair, it was possible to collect almost 37K UAH, which will be donated to the needs of the Ukrainian military.
Sumy oblast
According to Sumy RMA Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, the occupiers shelled from mortars Esman community. There were 4 explosions. The workshop of local enterprise and power lines were damaged.
At night, russians hit Hlukhiv community with mortars. There were 8 strikes. Later the enemy shot from machine guns at one of the communities in Znob-Novhorod community.
Today, the enemy again attacked the border regions of Sumy oblast. Esman community of Shostka region was attacked. The infrastructure was damaged.
According to Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, head of RMA, there were 64 hits during the day. Yunakiv community was struck with mortars 35 times.
The enemy shelled Novosloboda community with barrels 5 times. 7 private houses, premises and power lines were damaged.
Velykopysarivka community was shelled. 24 mines have exploded. Russians fired Shalyhin community from machine guns.
In Sumy, the soccer match devoted to the Day of Armed Forces of Ukraine was held. The teams of Ukrainian defenders, deputies, volunteers and social media workers were competing. Over 50K UAH were collected for the Armed Forces of Ukraine thanks to the event.
Chernihiv oblast
The spokesperson of the border detachment Halyna Shekhovtsova reported that Semenivka community was shelled from Brovnychi settlement.
According to Nizhyn council, Latvia sent the school bus to Nizhyn. In total 6 buses were delivered to Ukraine, one of them was sent by the Latvian city of Preili, sister city of Nizhyn.
Mensk council reports that 6 generators were received. They are used to provide heat to multi storey buildings, hospitals, kindergartens, schools and local social service center.
Nosivka council reports that the city of Nosivka plans to rename one of the streets in the honor of the fallen defender, city native. The community discussions are underway.
The exhibition “Heritage under Attack”, dedicated to cultural sites of Chernihiv, was open in Chernihiv. It shows what losses are sustained by the cultural heritage of Chernihiv as a result of the war and depicts the sites that withstood russian attacks, wooden houses with decorative carvings are among them.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Nikopol survived another difficult night of russian terror. The peaceful area was shelled from heavy artillery and MRLS 10 times. Marhanets, Pokrovsk, Chervonohryhorivka communities and Nikopol were attacked.
The russian army battered half a dozen residential buildings, farm buildings, garages, and power lines.
According to head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, russians have shelled Nikopol region 5 times since morning by hitting Nikopol and Pokrovsk community. A 23-year-old man died in the village of Kapulivka. He was working in his yard when a russian shell hit it.
In Dnipro, during power outages, you can warm up, charge your devices and work in the “Little Mariupol” Free Space founded by Kyrylo Dolimbaev from Mariupol. It serves about 2.5 thousand internally displaced persons every day.
Vinnytsia oblast
Kherson thanked Vinnytsia for another aid provided. An armored car and humanitarian cargo were delivered to the city. Aid with food, clothes, hygiene products, etc. was delivered to the de-occupied city the other day via Vinnytsia “CF “Dobro nadiya”. The cargo has already been transported to the districts.

In one of the communities in Cherkasy region, a shelter for the local lyceum is being built so that children could study offline next year.
The only social integration hub “Cherkasy is your city” was launched in the regional center. It was opened on the initiative of the mayor in the premises of the former committee of self-organization of the population “Lisovyi”. The center aims to unite internally displaced persons who have found shelter in Cherkasy, to help them adapt and socialize in the community.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Tonight on December 4, the enemy shelled a village in Zaporozhzhia region. As a result of the rocket attack, three houses were damaged. Electricity supply in the settlement has already been restored.
Over the past day, the occupiers shelled the civilian infrastructure in settlements Novooleksandrivka, Olhivske, Dorozhnianka, Novodanylivka, Bilohiria, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepnohirsk, Bilenke, Novopavlivka, Huliaipole, Plavni, Kamianske. The police recorded 25 reports about destruction of houses (apartments) and infrastructure objects as a result of shelling by russian military personnel.
According to the General Staff, on December 2, another batch of wounded and liquidated occupiers’ bodies was brought to the Melitopol local hospital. Looting and robbery of the local population continues in the territories temporarily occupied by enemy troops. The russian invaders take away all goods and equipment, including freezers and cash registers from the local shops in Nova Kakhovka.
On December 2, up to 100 occupiers checked documents of local residents, seized personal valuables and household appliances in Novomykolaivka, Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
Yesterday, on December 3, one of the settlements in Kutsurub community was shelled by russian army. Tonight, the enemy shelled the water area of Ochakiv community using mortars. There are no casualties.
The length of the curfew in the settlements of Ochakiv, Kutsurub and Chornomorka rural communities will be changed from December 5. It will start at 21:00 and will last until 06:00. Also, a special mode of light masking, complete blackout, continues to operate in these communities.
Volunteers sew underwear, thermal clothing, camouflage nets, helmet covers, mattresses and other items for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an improvised sewing workshop in Mykolaiv. About fifty people work in three shifts in the workshop.
Odesa oblast
There are 21 enemy ships on combat duty in the Black Sea. 4 carriers of cruise missiles with 24 Kalibr missiles on board are among them.
A storm carried an anchor mine to the coast of Odesa oblast. The projectile was destroyed in a controlled manner.
Kherson oblast
Today, on December 4, the russian army shelled Kherson. Enemy shells hit the apartment building, damaged the walls, windows and gas pipeline. Kherson detention center was also damaged by enemy shelling. Some of the premises are damaged, there are injured among the workers. Convicts and prisoners were transferred in advance to detention centers in other safer regions.
On December 4, the russian occupiers shelled the territory of Kherson oblast 46 times. The enemy fired from artillery, tanks, mortars, and MLRS at the peaceful settlements of the region. In Kherson, as a result of shelling, private houses and apartment buildings, the city’s civil infrastructure were damaged. 1 person was killed, 2 more residents injured.
Work is ongoing in Kherson to restore electricity supply. 85% of the city has electricity. Electricity supply has been fully restored in the villages of Komyshany, Pryozerne and 70% in Bilozerka.
The ban on crossing the Dnipro River was lifted during daylight hours on December 3-5 at the River Station section in Kherson. The goal is to evacuate people, who are in cottages on the left bank of the Dnipro, to Kherson.
Investigative units of the national police discovered 111 bodies, including 75 civilians, in the freed territories of Kherson oblast. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ievhenii Ienin. About 600 war crimes were documented by the National Police investigators.
The russian invaders are forcing the local population to send their children to educational institutions to study according to the russian curriculumin the settlements of the temporarily occupied Kherson oblast. They are threatening parents to terminate parental authority in case of refusal.

Volyn oblast
In one month, almost 15K generators were imported into Ukraine through the Volyn Customs. 13 979 units were imported by legal entities, 982 generators – by individuals.
The blackout reduced the turnover of Volyn cafes by 14%. On average, the second blackout reduced the volume of cafes and restaurants in Ukraine by 8% per week.
Mayor of Volodymyr, Ihor Palonka, announced that in the city, the Christmas tree in the park will be t decorated for the New Year. This will be done instead of purchasing the main Christmas tree.
The President awarded four Volyn girls released from captivity. The Order For Courage III degree was awarded to Panina Alina (junior sergeant), Lyudmila Kravchuk (senior sergeant), Oleksandr Kruchenko (staff sergeant) and Kateryna Pavlenko (senior sailor).
The opening of the 19th documentary film festival on human rights took place in Lutsk. The traveling festival takes place simultaneously in different oblasts of Ukraine.
Zakarpattia oblast
The President of Ukraine instructed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhnyi, to present the flag to the 101st Brigade of the Territorial Defense of Zakarpattia. The RMA reported that the dispatcher of Ukrenerho for Prykarpattia proved the night limit of 242 MW and the daytime limit (from 06:00 to 24:00) of 330 MW. During the day, taking into account the consumption, the limits may change.
Lviv oblast
Head of the Lviv RMA, Maksym Kozytskyi, informed that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and Superhumans Center signed a memorandum of cooperation. According to which, a specialized clinic for prosthetics, reconstructive treatment, psychological support and rehabilitation of people who suffered as a result of the russian hostilities will open on the basis of one of the medical institutions in Lviv oblast.
Taras Kremen, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, met with Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadov. The Commissioner asked to develop and approve a city program to promote Ukrainian language. The purpose of such a program should be to ensure the rights of citizens, including IDPs, opportunities to learn the Ukrainian language.

Ternopil oblast
The Ternopil city communal hospital #2 received humanitarian aid from benefactors. The hospital received medical beds and construction materials, namely laminate for arranging the covering in the hospital wards from the Polish city of Plonsk.

The Czech Excalibur Army company is modernizing 90 T-72 tanks for Ukraine.
