On the night of August 26-27, the russian federation launched yet another missile attack on Ukraine. 4 cruise missiles were intercepted following successful combat engagements by means and forces of the Air Force of Ukraine.
On August 27, the enemy launched 11 missile and 32 air strikes, 38 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians. Residential buildings, schools, and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.
There is still a threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine.
There were more than 23 combat engagements.
Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes.
Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Kindarivka (Sumy oblast). The enemy fired mortars and artillery at more than 25 settlements, including Khrinivka, Klyusy, Liskivshchyna (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyno-Buda, Vilna Sloboda, Simeikyne, Volfyne, Kindarivka, Sadky (Sumy oblast), Okip, Strilecha, Oliinykove, Hatyshche, Nesterne (Kharkiv oblast).
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinities of Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove and Miasozharivka (Luhansk oblast). Kamianka, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast) were shelled.
Towards Lyman, there were unsuccessful offensives in the vicinity of Novoiehorivka (Luhansk oblast). More than 10 settlements, including Karmazynivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Kreminna, Kuzmyne (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Spirne, Dibrova (Donetsk oblast), were shelled with artillery.
Towards Bakhmut, the russian army attempted offensive operations in the vicinity of Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), to no success. More than 10 settlements, including Vasiukivka, Markove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, and Niu York (Donetsk oblast), suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
Towards Avdiivka, the invaders fired artillery at the settlements of Keramik, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the russian offensive in the vicinity of Marinka (Donetsk oblast). There was an air strike in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery at the settlements of Oleksandropil, Hostre, Marinka, Pobieda, Paraskoviivka, Vodiane (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Zolota Nyva (Donetsk oblast). The settlements of Bohoiavlenka, Shakhtarske, Vremivka, Staromaiorske, Rivnopil (Donetsk oblast), suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne and Novodanylivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 20 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Novoandriivka, Olhivske, Chervone, Huliaipilske, Yehorivka, Mali Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia oblast).
Towards Kherson, the occupiers launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Mykolaivka, Mykilske and Antonivka (Kherson oblast). More than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Zmiivka, Tomaryne, Burhunka, Tiahynka, Kherson, Bilozerka (Kherson oblast).
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct the offensive operation towards Melitopol, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery fire.
The Ukrainian Air Force launched 10 air strikes on buildups of enemy troops, and 1 air strike on the anti-aircraft missile system.
Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit 1 ammunition depot, 2 electronic warfare stations, and 3 artillery systems at the enemy’s firing positions.
Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, Commander of the Tavriia operational and strategic grouping of troops, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are moving towards Tavriia. Over the past day, enemy losses amounted to 305 people (78 irretrievable, 210 wounded and 17 in captivity).
Ilya Yevlash, Head of the press service of the Eastern military group, says that russia has 100,000 troops near Lyman and Kupiansk. They also increased the number of attacks in these areas.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least 10 settlements were under mortar and artillery attacks.
Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi City Military Administration, reported that russian troops shelled Kozacha Lopan. The settlement was attacked from belgorod oblast of the russian federation with tanks about 20 times. At least 10 buildings and municipal equipment were damaged. Kharkiv Regional police said that preliminary, there were no casualties.
Oleksandr Kulik, Spokesman of the Derhachi CMA, informed that the shelling has partially cut off electricity and gas supply. About 1700 people remain in the settlement now. According to him, the city’s military administration does not plan to force evacuations from Kozacha Lopan “as there is no threat of an offensive”.
There have been more than 2,500 air raid alerts in the region since the start of the full-scale invasion. The total duration of all alarms was 88 days, 6 hours and 22 minutes. The region is in second place in terms of the number of alarms with Donetsk oblast in the lead.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv Village Military Administration, stated that the invaders targeted Bohodukhiv region with multiple rocket launchers. Around 1 pm, a woman born in 1984 was killed in Odnorobivka village of Zolochiv community as a result of hostile shelling. A shop also caught fire and State Emergency Service units and paramedics were sent to the scene. Five buildings and a shop were damaged, and there was no electricity or gas supply.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday the enemy attacked the settlements of Kupiansk region with artillery and mortars. Specifically, Rublene, Ambarne, Bolohivka, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka and other settlements were targeted.
During the enemy shelling of Podoly village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region, one of the shells hit a cafe building. Unfortunately, a 28-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man were killed. A 26-year-old woman was injured and hospitalised in critical condition.
Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 5.7 hectares of territory and defused 107 explosive ordnance.
Donetsk oblast
It is reported that russian troops destroyed a grain storage hangar in Bahatyr village with two S-300 missiles. Yesterday the invaders shelled 12 towns and villages in the region.
The day before, russians launched missiles at Kramatorsk community, damaging the main gas pipeline.
Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar suffered 2 airstrikes and 31 artillery attacks. A building and a shop were damaged in Bohoiavlenka. Prechystivka and Maksymivka were under attack. Shevchenko settlement was shelled in Komar community. One person in Velyka Novosilka community and one more in Shakhtarsk were injured.
Towards Donetsk, 1 person was injured in Avdiivka. 4 buildings in Hostre of Kurakhove community and 2 more in Halytsynivka of Novohrodivka community were damaged.
Towards Horlivka, 2 buildings were damaged in Bilokuzmynivka of Kostiantynivka community. In Chasiv Yar community, 2 apartment buildings and a non-residential building were damaged.
Towards Lysychansk, 10 buildings in Yampil of Lyman community and 2 more in Siversk were damaged.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday russians injured two civilians in Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk.
Luhansk oblast
In Luhansk oblast, russians are moving the main attack from Kupiansk towards Novoiehorivka. Just yesterday there were 10 assaults on Ukrainian positions there.
The invaders are supporting ground offensives in Novoiehorivka with aviation. Enemy attack and tactical aircraft were also used near Bilohorivka and Tverdokhlibove yesterday. However, despite considerable pressure, Ukrainian defenders are holding back these endless enemy attempts to break through the eastern front.
Kreminna, Kuzmyne, Bilohorivka, Karmazynivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka and Dibrova were under artillery attack.
According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, in the spring and summer, Luhansk residents under occupation complained about the suspension of demonstration repairs, specifically in Sievierodonetsk. On the eve of the so-called ‘first elections’, the invaders promise to find funding and continue operation of the facilities abandoned six months ago closer to winter until winter naturally stops this process again.
In order to close the polling stations as soon as possible and start counting the results of the so called election in September, russians shortened the voting day by three.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
At night, russia attacked Ukraine with cruise missiles launched by strategic aircraft. According to the information provided by Kyiv Regional Military Administration, all enemy targets towards Kyiv were destroyed by air defense forces. There were no casualties or damage in Kyiv.
Kyiv RMA reported that during a russian missile attack in Kyiv oblast, 10 private houses, 2 cars, and a hangar for storing agricultural machinery were damaged by falling missile fragments. Also, two people were injured.

A peaceful rally in support of the Mariupol garrison was held on Independence Square in Kyiv. Around 200 people attended the rally. The event was arranged by the families of Mariupol border guards as a call to the entire civilized world not to forget about Ukrainian prisoners of war who have been in russian captivity for 500 days.
In Kyiv oblast, families with children whose homes were damaged by russian aggression and those with children having IDP status will be able to receive financial aid. The project is implemented by the Ukrainian Foundation Child Welfare together with German partners with the financial support of the German Foreign Office.
One of the four buses donated to Kyiv in April by the German cities of Hamburg and Halle has started running in the capital. A low-floor Mercedes bus runs on route 9 from Bulgakov Street to Lukyanivska. Other vehicles from this batch have already been registered and have Ukrainian licence plates.
As part of the “Ukrainian Armed Forces Undercover: The Art of Camouflage in Action” campaign, volunteers demonstrated a camouflage net recognized as the largest in Ukraine. The fabric was unfurled next to burnt and captured russian military vehicles in the capital. The area of the camouflage net is 2,294 square metres and its length is about one kilometre. The net was woven by 500 volunteers for seven days in a row.

Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyr City Council reported that servicemen of the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received two UAVs and a communication enhancement kit. Military equipment was purchased at the expense of the city budget.
Dancers of the Zhytomyr Ballet School AVANTE raised almost a thousand euros at a concert in North Macedonia. The money was used to purchase medicines and medical tools for two medical institutions in the oblast.
Sumy oblast
At night and in the morning, the russians opened fire 5 times on settlements in Sumy oblast. Krasnopillia and Shalyhine communities were under enemy fire. There were 17 mortar bombs recorded.
According to Sumy RMA, the russians opened fire 28 times on the border areas of the oblast. There were 147 explosions. Krasnopillia, Nova Sloboda, Velyka Pysarivka, Putivl, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Shalyhine, Khotin, Esman, and Seredyno-Buda communities were shelled. As a result of a rocket attack launched from a helicopter at Esman community, a grain storage warehouse was damaged.
17 border communities of Sumy oblast are included into the territories where hostilities are underway or could be conducted. Three of the communities of Shostka region – Seredyno-Buda, Shalyhine, and Esman are located in the area of constant hostilities.
Liudmyla Biriukova, Head of Velyka Pysarivka community, reported that the community has won a grant of one million hryvnias from international donors Western NIS Enterprise Fund and Cedos to create community centres. The project will be implemented in the Yamne village culture center. The plan is to create a barrier-free space where people from different social groups can meet for leisure, community development, or cooperation.
Chernihiv oblast
The Chernihiv border guard detachment reported that the russians opened fire eight times on the border areas of Chernihiv oblast. Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk communities came under enemy fire. There were 100 shells fired from mortars and barrel artillery.
The Chernihiv Court of Appeal, which was damaged by a russian missile attack on the center of Chernihiv on August 19, is scheduled to resume hearings and receive citizens on Monday. According to Tetiana Kryvonos, Head of the court’s staff, all this time the court was being cleaned up. After the attack, four trucks were needed to remove broken glass, window frames, plaster, and drywall. So far, only two of the six courtrooms will be able to hold hearings.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the regional council, russians attacked Nikopol region with artillery at night. They hit the city of Marhanets. Sinelnykove region was attacked as well. The shelling resulted in a fire that was extinguished. One truck was destroyed. An agricultural enterprise, 4 outbuildings, a garage, and 2 private houses were damaged. The occupiers attacked the community of Myrove in Nikopol region twice. They shelled residential buildings with artillery. One private house was damaged.
A peaceful march was organised in Magdeburg, Germany, on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. The participants collected aid for one of the hospitals in Dnipro and for the military at the frontline.
Vinnytsia oblast
Students from Vinnytsia oblast created Lego bricks to rebuild Ukraine. They do not need to be kiln-fired and can be used within a day of production. Thanks to the puzzles, it can be insulated and wired.
Kirovohrad oblast
According to Andrii Raikovych, Head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, air defence was on alert in Kropyvnytskyi oblast in the morning.
A patriotic bicycle ride in memory of the fallen soldier Yulian Stupak took place in the village of Kutsevolivka, Onufriivka community. Approximately 60 participants took part in the bike ride.
Cherkasy oblast
As reported by Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, air defence forces were on alert in Cherkasy oblast at night. Two enemy targets were shot down.
Cherkasy oblast continues to help rebuild de-occupied villages of Ivanivka, Novopetrivka, and Mykolaivka in Kherson oblast. So far, 60 houses have been restored there.
In Cherkasy, families of fallen soldiers in the russian-Ukrainian war raised funds and purchased an off-road vehicle for the Territorial Defence Forces soldiers who are currently engaged in the east.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, russian military forces carried out 89 shelling attacks on the territory of Polohy and Vasylivka regions. The enemy attacked from UAVs in Levadne, Piatykhatky, and Lobkove. Novodarivka, Huliaipilske, and Stepnohirsk were shelled from multiple rocket launch systems 6 times. Additionally, 80 artillery shelling attacks targeted Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Plavni, Kamianske, Mali Shcherbaky, and other villages along the frontline. As a result, one civilian was killed, and four wounded.
The ‘East’ Air Command reported that two russian Shahed-136 UAVs were destroyed in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
There was a fire at one of the enterprises in the temporarily occupied city of Berdiansk. Preliminary reports suggest that residents did not hear any explosions. According to locals’ reports, the fire occurred in the Colonia neighborhood, within the premises of the Dormash plant.
It is reported that russians are preparing for ‘elections’ in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhia oblast. According to Ivan Fedorov, Mayor of Melitopol, starting from August 31, russians will be conducting house-to-house visits in the front-line cities of Zaporizhia oblast. On September 10, a mass vote will take place, organized with people brought in from Crimea and various regions of the russian federation, in order to create the appearance of an election. He also mentioned that the russians are already showing the results of their ‘surveys’ claiming nearly 90% support for the russian presidential party among the residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
The territory of Kinburn Spit, a sandy stretch in the northwestern part of the Kinburn Peninsula between the Dnipro–Bug estuary and the Black Sea, has been under кussian control since July 2022. Since November of the same year, Kinburn remains the only region in Mykolaiv щblast under occupation. On August 26, 2023, the russian news agency TASS reported that russia is ‘strengthening its positions’ in this area, with military personnel setting up bunkers and other fortifications. The russian authorities classify the spit as part of the annexed Kherson oblast.
A memorial alley for the fallen soldiers in the russian-Ukrainian war is being constructed in Voznesensk. Portraits of defenders are planned to be placed on white panels.
Mykolaiv artist Svitlana Chebanova took part in the multi-genre exhibition “Cosmogony of Senses,” which opened on August 24 at the Korsak’s Museum of Ukrainian Modern Art in Lutsk. The artist presented three works from the series “Awaiting air defence forces.”
Odesa oblast
The South Operational Command reported that the russian army has deployed the Admiral Essen missile cruiser on combat duty in the Black Sea. Its total salvo is eight Kalibr missiles. In total, there are 11 ships on duty in the Black Sea.
The press service of Odesa RMA informs that Odesa oblast continues to assist in restoring damaged houses in the affiliated settlements of Kherson. This week, roof replacements in five residential buildings were completed in the village of Kyselivka, Chornobaivka territorial community.
The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom with reference to British intelligence data informs that battles are ongoing between Ukrainian and russian naval and aerial forces for strategically important gas and oil platforms between Crimea and Odesa in the Black Sea. These platforms hold valuable resources and can also serve as advanced deployment bases, helicopter landing sites, and locations for long-range missile systems, similar to Zmiimyi (Snake) Island.
Volunteers with the support of caring citizens organized a celebration for Independence Day in a hospital for wounded defenders in Odesa. According to volunteer Andrii Tantsiura, every year, residents of Odesa gather and prepare grilled treats for the military, such as shish kebabs, pilaf, and sausages. This time, volunteers prepared over 100 kg of grilled meat.
Andrii Klymenko, Head of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, says that the bulk carrier PRIMUS, operated by a Singaporean company and flying the Liberian flag, which departed from Odesa port on August 26, has reached the territorial waters of Romania.
Kherson oblast
Today, occuppiers shelled the village of Virivka in Tiahynka community. A 35-year-old woman was killed, and another local resident injured. The enemy also dropped guided bombs in the areas of Kherson, Dariivka, Kozatske, and Odradokamianka. Information about casualties and damage is being clarified.
Yesterday, the enemy conducted 61 shelling attacks, firing 272 projectiles from mortars, artillery, tanks, Grad rocket launchers, and UAVs. The city of Kherson was hit by 36 projectiles. russian forces targeted residential quarters of settlements, a critical infrastructure building, its territory, and a medical facility; an enterprise building in Kherson; the territory of a national park and warehouses in Beryslav region. Due to the russian aggression, one person was killed, and 4 others wounded.
Rescuer workers in Beryslav region extinguished 4 fires caused by enemy shelling. In the first half of the day, 2 fires occurred in residential buildings in Mykhailivka village, and another residential house was on fire in Olhivka village. During the night, an enemy projectile hit a storage building in Beryslav.
It is reported that the russian army is attempting to address logistical challenges on the left bank of Kherson oblast. russian military personnel and their units criticize the inadequate supply of ammunition due to damaged bridges. According to Nataliia Humeniuk, Head of the United Coordination Press Center of the Defense and Security Forces of the South, russian reports talk about repaired bridges and established logistics, but all of this only works on paper or in their reports. According to her, on August 26, Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed three ammunition depots of the russian army on the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson oblast.
With the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, rescuer workers in Kherson have received an all-terrain vehicle Bohun. This Ukrainian vehicle is used to eliminate emergencies. It can move on water and rough roads. The workers of the State Emergency Service have already practiced operating the vehicle.
According to Kherson RMA, yesterday residents of liberated territories received 272 food sets, 250 portions of ready meals, 3000 loaves of bread, and 2200 liters of drinking water as humanitarian aid. Additionally, 21 mobile houses and 3 water supply systems were provided to the community. As part of the 100 Cars for Victory project, 2 ambulance vehicles were delivered to Kherson oblast.
On August 26, a charity run Honoring Warriors, Running for Ukrainian Heroes took place in Chornobaivka village and was dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Ukraine’s defenders. Each participant of the run could choose a distance (2 km, 5 km, 10 km) and wear a T-shirt with the name of a known or unknown person who gave their life in the struggle for Ukraine’s territorial integrity from 2014 to today. They can share the hero’s biography on social media. This year, 44 people participated in the Chornobaivka run. The event was supported by the villages of Kyselivka, Krutyi Yar, and Posad-Pokrovske. Anyone can join the run in memory of the fallen Ukrainian heroes from anywhere in the world until September 5.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
In the town of Horokhiv, Volyn oblast, college students and teachers raised UAH 14,170 for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Do Good volunteer centre has been holding fairs to support Ukrainian defenders since the beginning of the war.
Zakarpattia oblast
State awards were presented in Uzhhorod on behalf of the President of Ukraine. Junior sergeant, medical instructor of the medical evacuation service Oleh Oros received the medal For Wounding. Reconnaissance man Andrii Yuhas was posthumously awarded the Order For Courage of the III class, flamethrower Stepan Bilkey was awarded the medal For Military Service to Ukraine and Chief Sergeant Vasyl Miovkanych was awarded the badge of the 66th separate mechanized brigade. The heroes’ families received posthumous awards.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ruslan Martsinkiv, Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, announced that the Rukh youth centre was opened in Ivano-Frankivsk. The city provided the premises, and international partners helped with repairs and equipment. Ivan Khomyak, Director of the Centre, notes that they are already establishing cooperation with other charities.
Lviv oblast
On the eve of the professional holiday, Chervonograd paid tribute to the fallen miners who were killed defending Ukraine at the frontline.
Three more vehicles, two searchlights and Starlink were sent from Drohobych to the frontline by Drohobych RMA and the KOLO Charitable Foundation.
Rivne oblast
On the City Day in Rivne, families of fallen defenders were awarded Honorary Citizen badges. This award was posthumously given to every soldier from Rivne who gave his life for the freedom of Ukraine. Vitalii Koval, Head of Rivne Regional Military Administration, joined the award ceremony.
On the City Day, the authorities honoured those who made a significant contribution to our victory through their daily work. These are the military, police officers and volunteers. The daughter of Andrii Tkachuk, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism, was also posthumously awarded with the First Class Award for Merit to the City.
Vsevolod Pekarskyi, Head of Dubno Regional Military Administration, reported that construction crews from Dubno region and volunteers from Krupets and Kozyn communities have gone to rebuild southern Ukraine. During the first week of work, 5 buildings have already been restored for residents of Zahradivka village.
Ternopil oblast
First-graders whose parents are fighting for the victory of our country, orphans and first-graders from low-income and large families received orthopaedic school bags thanks to the German-Ukrainian Blue-Yellow Cross (Blue-Gelbes-Kreuz) charity organisation.
A delegation from the Swedish partner city of Ronneby visited Ternopil City Council. Serhii Nadal expressed his gratitude to Roger Fredriksson for the support of the community and the first aid kits for the military.
The Bronze Star for Sister Cities was presented in the city. The new sign was traditionally installed on the Alley of Stars.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
According to Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Yuriev, Deputy Head of the RMA, met with representatives of the UNHCR (Shelter and Non-Food Items (SNFI) Humanitarian Cluster in Ukraine). The foreign delegation came to Khmelnytskyi oblast to discuss the current humanitarian situation in the region, cooperation with the SNFI cluster and priorities for further work.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration said that Bukovyna residents are finishing a two-week stay in the Kherson oblast, where they cleared settlements affected by the Kakhovka HPP and military operations. Hlyboka community sent two vehicles to the communities of Kherson oblast – Askania-Nova Village Military Administration of Kakhovka region and Milove Village Military Administration of Bereslav region.
