Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the day before, russian troops launched an air strike near Okipa village, at least 11 settlements came under mortar and artillery shelling. During the day, russia conducted air strikes near Ivanivka and Kyslivka, Kupiansk region. At least 6 settlements in Kharkiv oblast also suffered mortar and artillery attacks.
Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, said that towards Kupiansk, russian forces are setting up minefields along the border in Belgorod region. According to her, russians are looking for weaknesses in Ukrainian defence.
Press service of Kharkiv State Emergency Service reported that a remote-controlled tractor exploded in Balakliia community while clearing a field of mines. There were no casualties and rescuers were not called to the scene due to the high level of mines in the area.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said that yesterday the enemy targeted settlements of Kharkiv, Izium, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk regions.
As a result of MLRS shelling of Odnorobivka village, Bohodukhiv region, a private building and a trade kiosk were damaged. A 39-year-old woman was killed. A 16-year-old girl was injured. Her condition is assessed as light, she did not need hospitalisation.
In Cherneshchyna village, Izium region, hostile shelling damaged the buildings of an agricultural enterprise and private buildings.
At least 5 private residential buildings, a gas pipeline, a trade kiosk and a private car were damaged as a result of mortar shelling in Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region.

Ukrainian forces liberated one square kilometre of territory towards Bakhmut over the past week. The epicentre of the fighting was Klishchiivka. This was reported by Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, reported that She also noted that during the week of 21-28 August, russian troops shelled Ukrainian military positions on the eastern front almost 8,000 times. They launched about 400K shells at the Defence Forces.
On the morning of 28 August, russian army shelled Kostiantynivka with artillery. The shelling damaged private buildings and trucks. There were no casualties.

Yesterday russians shelled Toretsk community, hitting Niu-York and Chasiv Yar, and attacked Volnovakha region in the south of the region with multiple rocket launchers. 89 children remain in the frontline settlements of the region. According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, they are to be evacuated in the coming weeks.
Sloviansk City Military Administration said that a telemedicine room started operating at the Primary Healthcare Centre. Patients will receive consultations online.
Kramatorsk City Council informed that on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine, photos of Kramatorsk residents who gave their lives defending Ukraine were installed in Kramatorsk.
Rem the dog helps Donetsk police officers during the evacuation. Police officer Pavlo Diachenko rescued Rem as a small puppy from Bakhmut. Since then, the dog has been constantly going on evacuation missions to frontline villages and towns in the region and “working” as a child psychologist.

Luhansk oblast
According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, russian attacks do not stop as they are aiming to push through our defences in this area. The enemy is sending more personnel, equipment and aviation, which hit Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove and Miasozharivka. Karmazynivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Kreminna, Bilohorivka, Kuzmyne and Dibrova cwere under artillery attacks.
The majority of educational institutions in the region are occupied by russian troops. However, in order to start the school year in towns and villages located away from the front line and to find a place for children to study, the occupation ministry decided to provide schools with military guards. Thus, during the educational process, armed russians will rest next to the students, protected by a “human shield”.
Some companies have agreed to invest in the dying coal industry. There is already a winner, who was chosen not through a tender but by an ordinary working group, which announced the terms of the “money laundering” deal. The invaders are slowly closing down the once leading coal mining enterprises in Dovzhansk. Specifically, at the Chervonyi Partyzan mine, only six people have been going down in shifts lately. There is no one else to work there as most of the miners were forcibly mobilised. The companies have accumulated multimillion-dollar debts for electricity. For instance, the Skhidvuhillia local association has already been disconnected from the power supply. All mines in Khrustalne have been shut down. Overall, last year coal production in the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts decreased by 42%, which is almost half. This year, the situation is even worse but the first half of the year is not disclosed because they decided to organise a multi-million dollar business with an investor before the so-called “first elections”.
Oleksandr Striuk, Head of Sievierodonetsk City Military Administration, reported that the city is overwhelmed with representatives of russian special services. People are taken to the basement on the slightest suspicion. Sometimes they come back, sometimes not. The invaders are being very careful about Sievierodonetsk residents who have recently arrived. Despite the lack of communication, the invaders check contacts in phones and applications. Up to 15K community members remain in the city. Not a single industrial enterprise is operating in Sievierodonetsk. The invaders destroyed them and did not restore anything. The concentration of russian troops around the city is not decreasing.
The occupation administration is closing mines. Coal mining companies have millions of dollars in debts for electricity. There is also a shortage of workers.

Kyiv oblast
Five more high-rise buildings in Irpin were added to the list of buildings that were damaged or destroyed due to the full-scale invasion of the region by russian troops. As the mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, said, the high-rise buildings will be rebuilt with funds from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression.
One of the high-rise buildings in Buzova, destroyed due to russian aggression on March 5, 2022, was restored. The building was rebuilt at the expense of RMA and Dmytrivka hromada. Before the war, more than 200 people lived there in 70 apartments. As reported in the regional military administration, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the russian occupiers have destroyed almost 400 objects in Buzova.

Oleksandr Porhun, First Deputy Minister of Veteran Affairs, announced that construction of the National Military Memorial Cemetery will begin in November on the territory of the Hatne community in the Fastiv region. On August 26, a mini-football tournament was held in Kyiv in memory of Azov fighter Oleksandr Hryanyk, nicknamed Hryan, who voluntarily flew by helicopter to the besieged Mariupol to help his comrades and was killed at Azovstal. Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyr RMA reported that another 23 Ukrainians, including 6 children, arrived in the city of Berdychiv by evacuation train. IDPs were placed in places of temporary residence in Pulyny and Kurne communities.
In Zhytomyr, the psychological project “Childhood is a time to dream” was launched at the Honcharenko Center. Within the project, volunteers use art therapy to help military children and young migrants from the occupied territories to restore internal resources. Free classes take place as part of the “Keep calm and love Ukraine” project with the support of IREX Europe doing business as Equal Rights and Independent Media and the European Union through the BF “Dobrobut Ukrainy”.
In Zhytomyr oblast, institutions of secondary and vocational education are opening new educational hubs for children as part of the In Touch Ukraine Foundation cross-sectoral project and with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF Ukraine. Already 14 communities of the oblast have launched 15 STEM-hubs and provide students with the opportunity to learn, develop creative thinking, and conduct scientific and practical research for free.
Sumy oblast
Sumy RMA reported that the russians carried out 9 shellings of the border – a total of 52 explosions were recorded. The communities of Shalyhine, Bilopillia, Nova Sloboda, Znob-Novhorodske, Velika Pysarivka and Khotin were under enemy shelling.
During the previous day, August 28, the enemy carried out 22 shellings – a total of 171 explosions were recorded. Khotyn, Bilopillia, Esman, Shalyhine, Seredina-Buda, Druzhbivka, Velika Pysarivka, Putivl communities came under shelling. In the Seredina-Buda community, a private household was damaged as a result of an airstrike from a helicopter by unguided air missiles.
On August 25, four servicemen of the 101st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade were killed in a battle with the russian subversive intelligence group in Sumy oblast. The men came under mortar fire between the villages of Khodine and Myshutyne. The death of Oleksandr Marchuk, Oleksandr Matviychuk and Ihor Kasyanchyk was announced on Facebook by Varash Mayor Oleksandr Menzul. The death of Mykola Brovchuk was reported on the page of the Yasinya community.
Chernihiv oblast
During the past day, the russians shelled the border of Chernihiv oblast from their territory for 8 times. The enemy used barrel and self-propelled artillery, automatic grenade launchers, mortars and kamikaze drones. As a result of the russian attacks, the Semenivka City Council building, private households, and the power supply line were damaged. In the Novhorod-Siverskyi region, one person was killed due to shelling.
Inspections and preparation of shelters for the new school year are ongoing in the oblast. In the last week, shelters have been installed in 20 educational institutions. According to the head of RMA Vyacheslav Chaus, the academic year will start offline only where the distance from the border, the availability and condition of shelters allows it, and there is a joint decision of the teaching staff and parents.
Head of the regional department of education Yuriy Muzyka announced that in 2023-2024, 12% of general secondary education institutions in Chernihiv oblast will study online. In particular, these are 21 institutions in the border regions, in which 1,900 students study. According to him, children will study offline in 52% of the institutions of Chernihiv oblast, last year this figure was 21%.

The Vinnytsia City Council reported that a humanitarian cargo from the Latvian partner city of Ventspils has arrived in Vinnytsia. The Latvians handed over a Mercedes Benz Sprinter minibus loaded with various supplies. The cargo includes generators, oil heaters, and other useful items for our defenders.
Kirovohrad oblast
The charity festival in Oleksandriia raised almost UAH 20K to support the military. Trophies from the frontline were also raffled off at the event. The organisers plan to complete the auction on social media to finish the charity event.

According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, thanks to the resistance movement, pre-reconnaissance and effective destruction of a number of enemy objects were carried out in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhia oblast. In particular, on August 24, 2023, around 6 a.m., a drone kamikaze attacked the residence of the “deputy head” of the occupational military-civil administration, collaborator Oleksandr Reimer, in the city of Kamianka-Dniprovska, Vasylivka region. The wounded collaborator was evacuated to the hospital. On August 23, 2023, at the headquarters of the FSB detachment in Enerhodar, an event for the personnel of the occupational troops was taking place. Around 7 p.m., during the greatest concentration of the russian forces, a powerful explosion occurred at the headquarters. After the evacuation began, another strike was delivered on the parking lot near the building, which further destroyed the occupiers’ personnel and significantly damaged the vehicles located there. Three fire crews and ambulances arrived at the scene. The bodies of the killed invaders were taken away by several “Ural” military vehicles twards Melitopol.
Today, the authorities are set to announce the mandatory evacuation of children from Vasylivka and Polohivka regions. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk, announced this. It is planned to evacuate 54 children from five settlements.
Mykolaiv oblast
On August 27, russian forces shelled the waters of Ochakiv community with artillery fire. There were no reported casualties. This information was provided by Vitalii Kim, the head of Mykolaiv RMA.
Six teams participated in a charity football tournament called the “Unity Cup” in the village of Peresadivka, Mykolaiv region. The event, dedicated to Independence Day, was postponed due to safety concerns. Throughout the tournament, participants and guests made contributions for the needs of Ukrainian defenders who are fighting on the southern front. In total, they managed to raised 11,200 hryvnias.
An exhibition of works by volunteer and artist Dmytro Olifirenko from the village of Antonivka, Kherson oblast will operate at the Shipbuilding and Fleet Museum in Mykolaiv. The artist creates artworks from the fragments of russian rockets and shells. There’s no shortage of material for his works, as Dmytro’s village is shelled daily. He works as a volunteer in his own garage. He mainly sells his artworks to foreigners and donates the money received to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (ZSU).
Odesa oblast
As of August 28, 12 russian combat ships are maneuvering in the Black Sea. Among the ships, there is one surface vessel and one submarine missile carrier. russian military forces have deployed one ship in the Sea of Azov. This information was reported by “South” peartional Command.

Kherson oblast
Today, the russian army shelled the village of Sadove, resulting in two local residents being injured. At around 10:40, the russians fired shells at a residential house. A 63-year-old woman on the premises was killed instantly due to the injuries sustained. A 58-year-old man with abdominal and leg wounds was hospitalized in serious condition.
Yesterday the enemy conducted 69 shelling attacks, using a total of 395 shells from mortars, artillery, tanks, “Grad” rocket launchers, UAVs, and aviation. Areas targeted by aviation attacks included Odradokamianka, dacha plots in Sadove, the Antonivsky Bridge area, and Kozatske in Kakhovka region. The city of Kherson was hit by 39 shells. russian military forces launched an attack from the left bank of the Dnipro River using heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers on unarmed civilian residents of Kherson, primarily targeting residential buildings and infrastructure. As a result of these strikes, buildings dating back to the early 20th century and historical landmarks in the city’s historic center were damaged. Due to russian aggression, one person was killed, and two others were injured.
On August 26, due to russian shelling in the city of Kherson, a fire broke out at a dog breeding facility. As a result, some of the dogs were burned alive.
A tractor driver ran over an enemy mine near Novovoznesenske while working on a land plot. A detonation occurred, causing mechanical damage to the tractor, but the driver was unharmed. According to the “South” Operational Command during the fulfillment of fire tasks by the forces of the Southern Defense, 34 occupiers, 1 tank, 3 cannons, 1 mortar, 1 radio-electronic warfare station “Leer-2,” 1 radio-electronic warfare station “Stryzh,” 1 radar station “PREDEL-E” (estimated value of the station is 200 million dollars), 1 vehicle, and 2 video surveillance complexes “Murom-P” were destroyed. Additionally, 3 field supply points were destroyed.
Another child has been returned with the participation of the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories. A 14-year-old boy named Ivan, who lived in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson oblast, was to be placed in a children’s home after the death of his grandmother. A family of internally displaced persons from Kherson oblast offered to take care of the boy. They currently reside in Kyiv oblast and have known Ivan for a while. However, they couldn’t bring him back on their own. The entire process of returning him took 22 days.
In preparation for the new school year, educators from the Dariivka community received modern laptops. This new computer equipment will help ensure a high-quality process of distance learning. Children will be learning online in Kherson oblast until the security situation stabilizes. Later on, students will also be able to use these laptops during their lessons.
New furniture has been delivered to the Central Hospital in Novovorontsovska. The medical facility received 5 special medical beds with new mattresses and tables. Medical professionals have already furnished three hospital rooms with modern furniture.

Volyn Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine reported that two Toyota Land Cruiser ambulances were handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Volyn Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Zakarpattia oblast
More than 500 participants took part in a patriotic bike ride in Uzhhorod today on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine and in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Big City Ride. The cyclists, many of whom were wearing embroidered shirts and blue and yellow clothes, traditionally gathered on Kyivska embankment, rode around the city, after which a prize draw took place near the drama theatre, with a bicycle being the main prize. The money raised, which is about 40,000 hryvnias, will be donated to the NGO Movement to Support Transcarpathian Soldiers.
Everyone could play at the street piano festival in Uzhhorod. The event, which took place on Sunday, 27 August, was the fifth one organised by the First Step Music Development Studio. In addition to the aesthetic education of young people, the festival also had a charitable purpose – the funds raised were donated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that construction workers from Ivano-Frankivsk oblast are rebuilding the village of Davydiv Brid in Kherson oblast as part of the Side by Side project. They have already repaired 6 houses damaged by the army of the russian occupiers.
Lviv oblast
On August 27, the first Defender of Ukraine Cup took place in Lviv. At the beginning of the competition, a memorial plaque was unveiled in memory of Mykola Zabavchuk, a 25-year-old Lviv resident who worked here before defending Ukraine. 75 soldiers, volunteers and experienced athletes competed for exclusive awards, communicated and donated. The event raised UAH 80,500 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Rivne oblast
Explosive ordnance disposal experts from Rivne oblast continue to demine the de-occupied territories in eastern Ukraine. Employees of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Rivne oblast have been working as part of a consolidated unit for three months. They detected and neutralised explosive devices in agricultural fields, private households and municipal facilities occupied by russian troops.
Vitaliy Kova, Head ofRivne Regional Military Administration, reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Rivne region has hosted 88,000 IDPs, and for 52,000 of them the region has become a second home. Among them are many highly qualified specialists, including 138 doctors, who have strengthened the medical system of the region.
Ternopil oblast
Soldier Viktor Fenko, a physical education teacher from Ternopil oblast, received the Golden Cross from the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. The man has been fighting in the hot spots of the conflict since the first days of the full-scale invasion of the russians.
Starting from 1 September, children will study full-time in 503 schools in the region. This decision was made after checking the shelters. In total, there are 651 schools in Ternopil oblast.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Oleksandr Symchyshyn, Mayor of Khmelnytsky, said that to date, all existing programmes for the military have provided assistance totalling UAH 405 million. Part of the funds was allocated for treatment, rehabilitation and social support for servicemen and families of the fallen. The remaining funds were used to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Chernivtsi oblast
Bukovinians who sheltered IDPs received compensation for April 2023. The total amount of compensation is UAH 49.1 million.
Shevchenko Park will no longer have a mass grave of Soviet generals and officers. The monument is planned to be dismantled, and the bodies exhumed and reburied in a cemetery.

The International Working Group on Sanctions against russia has examined 174 foreign components removed from three models of UAVs used by russian troops on the battlefield in Ukraine. russia relies heavily on foreign-made components, including microelectronics, to manufacture its UAVs. The group’s experts called on manufacturers to do more to prevent russia from accessing their products bypassing economic sanctions. They recommended strengthening cooperation between manufacturers and authorities. In addition, governments should investigate well-known companies that do not comply with the sanctions policy. The International Working Group on Sanctions is headed by Andriy Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office and Ambassador Michael McFaui, Director of the Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI).
