It has been the 542nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On August 19, the enemy launched 5 missile and 44 air strikes, fired 17 times from multiple rocket launchers at Ukrainian troops’ positions and settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed. 

There is still a high threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine.

There were 26 combat engagements over the day.

The situation towards Volyn and Polissia remained unchanged.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy launched an airstrike near Kostiantynivka, Sumy oblast. The enemy fired mortars and artillery at more than 15 settlement, including Karpovychi and Bleshnia in Chernihiv oblast; Kostiantynivka, Myropilske, Popivka in Sumy oblast and Vilcha, Loshakove, Hatyshche, Okhrymivka in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupyansk, the enemy launched an airstrike near Kyslivka, Kharkiv oblast. The settlements of Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, and Kyslivka in Kharkiv oblast were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy.

Towards Lyman, the enemy conducted airstrikes in the areas of Bilohorivka, Serebryansky forestry in Luhansk oblast and Terny in Donetsk oblast. About 10 localities came under enemy artillery fire, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Verkhnekamianske, Spirne and Rozdolivka in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas north of Bohdanivka, north and south of Klishchiyivka in Donetsk oblast. Conducted an air strike near Klishchiyivka, Donetsk oblast. More than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Klishchiyivka, Bila Hora, and Bohdanivka in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Avdiivka, Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Sievierne and Karlivka in the Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Marinka, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the russian offensive near Maryinka, Donetsk oblast. The enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast. Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, Katerynivka, Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost position in the vicinity of Urozhaine. There was an strike near Velyka Novosilka. Vodiane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, and Urozhaine in Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy conducted strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy’s artillery shelling affected more than 15 localities, including Novodarivka, Poltavka, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Towards Kherson , more than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Tokarivka, Dudchany, and Veletynske in Kherson oblast.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations towards Melitopol and Berdiansk, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian aviation of the defense forces launched 7 strikes on buildups of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment and 1 on an anti-aircraft missile system. 

Rocket and artillery units destroyed 5 artillery pieces at firing positions, 3 command posts and 3 enemy air defense facilities.


As reported on the Children of War platform, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has killed 502 children.  More than 1,100 children received injuries of varying severity. 

Ihor Klymenko, the Minister of Internal Affairs, says that a russian missile attack on the center of Chernihiv killed 7 people. There are 144 wounded, including 15 children and 15 police officers.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The UK Ministry of Defence informed that russian attempts to launch attacks towards Kupiansk over the past week were unsuccessful.

The General Staff reported that russian troops conducted an airstrike near Kyslivka towards Kupiansk. Also, at least 7 settlements were under artillery and mortar attack.

The Cruise Missile sculpture was presented in Kharkiv. It is made from russian missiles debris, including those used to shell the city. The author of the sculpture is Illia Chornomaz, a 24-year-old artist from Nova Vodolaha village, a student of Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. The artist worked on the metal sculpture for over a year. The Cruise Missile sculpture is 3.5 metres high and weighs 500 kg.

Vadym Pozdniakov, Head of the Decolonisation. Ukraine organisation, reported that a mural of russian poet Sergei Yesenin was also covered in Kharkiv. The paint was provided by the same company that once sponsored the materials for the mural.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that as of today, 542 people have been evacuated from dangerous areas, including 144 children.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi City Military Administration, said that part of Kozacha Lopan border village is without electricity and gas and since the morning the village has been under russian shelling as russians have struck at least 20 times with self-propelled artillery systems. According to him, up to 10 private buildings and infrastructure were damaged.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, stated that the enemy shelled Oleksandrivka with mortars about ten times at 4 pm. According to him, the outbuildings, hangars and equipment of the Aurum enterprise were damaged. There were no casualties.

Last night around midnight, russian invaders shelled Zahryzove village, Izium region. A 44-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were injured and hospitalised.

In addition, around 1 am, Vovchansk city and Vilcha village of Chuhuiv region were shelled. In Vilcha, 3 residential buildings, outbuildings and a civilian enterprise were damaged. A building was damaged in Vovchansk. There were no casualties.

Yesterday the enemy attacked settlements of Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Izium and Kupiansk regions. Private buildings and outbuildings were damaged as a result of the shelling of Kupiansk. Yesterday afternoon Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region, was shelled from a tank. A residential building, a summer kitchen and power lines were damaged. Using a UAV, the enemy targeted Hlushkivka village, Kupiansk region. There was a hit to an open area of land. In Cherneshchyna village, Izium region, outbuildings and the power grid of an agricultural enterprise were damaged.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 5.6 hectares of territory and defused 68 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Oleh Kalashnikov, Spokesman of the 26th Artillery Brigade, reported that his unit’s soldiers are observing that russian troops,l have lost so much artillery equipment towards Bakhmut over the past 3 months so they are forced to bring multiple rocket launchers to the first line of defense. 

Also russian soldiers have deployed all available forces for the assaults towards Lyman-Kupiansk, from the regular army with airborne and tank units to mobilized personnel, territorial groups, small PMCs and prisoners.

Mariupol City Council published lists of children whose deaths were registered in morgues in 2022. According to them, these documents were obtained by Mariupol resistance partisans movement. The Mayor’s office says that the documents prove that at least 101 Mariupol children were killed in the city as a result of hostilities, bombing and siege.

Donetsk State Emergency Service informed that pyrotechnics have defused almost a thousand explosive ordnance on 5 hectares of land.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, reported about the downtown shelling. The city was shelled 21 times yesterday. In the morning russian invaders shelled the city 7 times, using mostly cannon artillery. There is no information about the casualties.

According to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the invaders also shelled Toretsk with artillery. A man was injured when he was in the yard of his own house. He was provided with medical aid on the spot. The shells also started a fire. In addition, private buildings, fences and garages were damaged.

On August 18, russians shelled eight cities and villages in the region.

In the middle of the night, russians launched a missile attack on Kramatorsk, hitting a machine-building plant.

Towards Volnovakha, the enemy shelled Vuhledar with artillery 21 times, with no casualties.

Towards Donetsk, one person was injured in Kurakhove.

Towards Horlivka, 4 people were injured and a building damaged in Chasiv Yar community.

Towards Lysychansk, a building in Siversk was damaged and there were 8 attacks on Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, confirmed that on August 18, russians injured 5 civilians – 4 in Chasiv Yar and 1 in Kurakhove. 

A mobile medical team from Starobilsk hospital went to treat residents of the de-occupied Lyman community. Medical care was provided in Yarove, Drobysheve, Shandryholove and Novoselivka. The doctors examined 143 patients but were unable to accept everyone so they will return to these settlements again.

Luhansk oblast

The enemy does not leave the intention to storm Bilohorivka. They made another attempt on August 18. But Ukrainian troops disrupted the enemy’s plans. In Luhansk oblast, russians are suffering significant losses and their units are losing their combat capability, which leads to constant rotations. Where there is a shortage of personnel, Aramaic combat reserve, prisoners and representatives of other private companies are engaged in assaults. In addition, Nevske and Bilohorivka were shelled by artillery and the latter suffered air strikes.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, since last spring, russians have been showing off their capture of Rubizhne. However, life in the city has frozen. Damaged houses are not being repaired. The buildings destroyed by the invaders can collapse at any moment. After numerous appeals to the occupation administration, they were told that the rubble would be removed only after the residents of the districts and houses paid for it. Employees of the city’s housing and communal services receive humanitarian aid instead of salaries.

Luhansk RMA added that the so-called ‘Ministry of Industry and Trade of the LPR’ ahead of the September vote is forcing representatives of small and medium-sized businesses to sign so-called ‘memorandums’. These memorandums include the sale of goods at a price that differs from the purchase price by zero to five per cent. This maximum 5% should include wages, utility bills, rent, etc. Under pressure from russians, retailers are forced to sell goods at the prices dictated by them. At the same time, no one has reduced wholesale prices.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk RMA, said that the enemy has brought in a significant number of reserves. Also russians have increased the number of air strikes and large-calibre attacks on the liberated communities. He also noted that the de-occupation priority action plan has been developed, first response teams have been created and 38 recovery projects from six communities have already been presented to investors.

One of the two pharmacies operating in Sievierodonetsk has stopped receiving medicines. People are forced to use the services of “pharmacist taxi drivers” who deliver medicines from Luhansk with a 100 % markup.

In the temporarily occupied Rubizhne, people pay utility bills with food. Instead of salaries, they are given ‘humanitarian aid’ packages.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, at night, the russian army attacked Kyiv oblast with drones. There were no hits, casualties or falling fragments on the territory of the communities. The air raid started at midnight and lasted more than four hours. No air alert was announced in Kyiv.

The regional military administration reported that in Kyiv oblast, 187 educational institutions have been restored, the reconstruction of which began immediately after the de-occupation. In total, 232 educational institutions were damaged and destroyed as a result of active hostilities. Apart from the occupied territories, educational institutions in 10 other communities of the oblast were damaged by russian missile strikes.

According to the regional military administration, 11 families from Kyiv oblast who lost their homes as a result of russian aggression received new apartments. The houses were purchased under the New Home programme at the expense of the regional budget, their total cost is almost UAH 22.5 million. New homes in Brovary, Boryspil, Fastiv, and Makariv were given to large families with children and pregnant women with husbands in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The construction of the first residential building in the country using 3D technology has begun in Irpin. According to Oleksandr Markushyn, Mayor of Irpin, the 3D house is being built as part of the United for Help charity project initiated by the Hugs of the Nation Foundation. The project involves not only the reconstruction of housing, but also the construction of a shelter, utilities, home repairs, and landscaping.

On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, an exhibition of photographs telling about the work of humanitarian workers in Ukraine was opened in Kyiv. The authors’ works reflect the activities of humanitarian organizations, central, regional and local authorities, volunteers in war-affected communities, and civil society organizations working to ensure that millions of war-affected people receive much-needed assistance.

According to Kyiv City State Administration, Kyiv allocated funds from the capital budget for the recreation of 99 children from Kherson. The kids are already on holiday in Truskavets at the Artek children’s camp. The vacation will last 21 days.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, in the morning, russian kamikaze drones attacked an infrastructure facility in Zhytomyr oblast. A fire broke out due to the falling wreckage of a downed drone. There were no casualties.

Eleven artists from Zhytomyr united to paint spent ammunition and raise funds to support Ukrainian soldiers. Fragments of spent ammunition for the painting were brought to Zhytomyr from the frontline by volunteers – tubes from Javelins and Stingers, ammunition cartridges, shell casings. The finished works are to be sold at a charity auction on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Sumy oblast

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on August 18, the enemy opened fire 22 times at the border areas of the oblast. There were 124 explosions recorded. Seredyno-Buda, Khotin, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Shalyhine, Esman, Mykolayivka, Velyka Pysarivka, and Znob-Novhorodske communities were shelled. As a result of the shelling, private houses, cars, a petrol station, a hangar, and a power line were damaged. Also, the warehouses of an agricultural enterprise were destroyed, and grain was burnt. The enemy opened fire from artillery and mortar systems, dropped 29 mortar bombs, and grenade launchers.

According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, at night and in the morning, the russians carried out 4 attacks (3 explosions) on the border areas of Sumy oblast. Bilopillia and Shalyhine communities were under enemy fire. The enemy used mortar systems and small arms

Chernihiv oblast

The russian army launched a missile attack on Chernihiv on August 19. On the central square of the city, 7 people were killed, including a 6-year-old child. 117 wounded received medical assistance, including 10 police officers and 12 children. 25 people were taken to hospital, including a 12-year-old girl in severe condition. 

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets informed that the missile targeted the drama theater. As a result of the blast wave, a fire broke out in the building of the economic court. Buildings, shops and cafes were damaged in the city centre and on the adjacent streets. The building of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration was damaged, too. According to him, there is a public bus stop nearby, where the regular bus stopped to pick up and drop off passengers – many people were injured in this place.

The State Emergency Service reported that in Chernihiv, the roof of the regional academic Ukrainian music and drama theater named after Taras Shevchenko was destroyed by enemy missile fire. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out. Rescuers promptly extinguished the fire. Also, the windows of the third State Fire and Rescue Unit were damaged. A fire in a shop was liquidated.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has engaged 56 people and 12 pieces of equipment. A mobile task force group and psychologists are working on the spot. 12 ambulance crews were engaged. The work of 20 investigative teams of the regional police and 2 forensic laboratories continues.

A three-day mourning period has been announced in Chernihiv due to the russian terrorist attack.

According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Novhorod-Siversk, Snovsk, and Semenivka communities were shelled On August 18. The russian army shelled the border areas of Chernihiv oblast 7 times. There were 42 mortar bombs, 30 rounds from an automatic grenade launcher, and 1 explosive device dropped from a UAV.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the regional council,  russian forces shelled a village in Marhanets community, Nikopol region in the morning. The enemy attacked Nikopol region three times, targeting Nikopol twice and Marhanets community once. An 82-year-old woman was injured in Nikopol. Three private houses, two outbuildings and a gas pipeline were damaged. 

According to Iryna Kosenko, administrator of the dog shelter in Dnipro, volunteers are evacuating dogs and cats from the frontline and near-frontline areas. Animals are brought from the battlefields with injuries. Since February 2022, volunteers have evacuated animals from Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk oblasts. 

Vinnytsia oblast

​​The RMA reported that families of Vinnytsia soldiers underwent equine-assisted therapy. It includes not only riding, but also direct communication and care for horses. This helps to relieve stress, get rid of tension, feelings of fear and anxiety.

Kirovohrad oblast

The Machok Foundation from Kirovohrad oblast held a charity lottery to raise over UAH 50 K for a car for the military. 

Poltava oblast

A 24-year-old Azov soldier, Viacheslav Holtsev, is undergoing rehabilitation in Poltava oblast after being wounded. For about a year he fought towards Bakhmut as a senior operator of a grenade launcher unit of the Third Separate Assault Brigade. He was shot by a sniper while evacuating a wounded man.

Poltava sports journalists raised UAH 85 K for the Ukrainian Armed Forces during charity football matches.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, defenders successfully downed two air targets in Cherkasy oblast overnight.

As reported by Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, a water pipeline damaged by a russian missile was repaired in Smila.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that on August 18, the russian army fired  at the towns and villages of Zaporizhzhia oblast 83 times. Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka, Yegorivka, Gulyaypole, Levadne, Novodanylivka, Stepnohirsk, and Pyatikhatky were under attack. 

A 56-year-old resident of Huliaipole was killed and her 61-year-old husband wounded as a result of the morning shelling of Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia oblast, by russian military with MLRS and artillery.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on August 18, the russian army conducted artillery strikes on Ochakiv and the water area of Ochakiv community. In Halytsynivka and Chornomorska communities of Mykolaiv region, dry grass and forests caught fire due to the fall of debris from russian reconnaissance UAVs. The fires were extinguished by rescuer workers. There were no casualties.

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said that on August 18, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko came to Mykolaiv on a working visit. The Health Minister visited City Hospital No. 3, the regional clinical hospital and the emergency hospital. The meeting resulted in a strategic plan for local medical institutions.

A Norwegian organization for humanitarian demining has started working in Mykolaiv. At the meeting, they discussed such issues as the rules of behavior when finding a suspicious object, a mine threat, types of explosive objects, and the algorithm of actions when an explosive object is found. 

In Mykolaiv oblast, projects are being prepared to restore 154 damaged and 13 destroyed medical facilities. Kazakh partners are planning to join in their restoration.

Odesa oblast

South Operational Command reported that as of today, the russian army has not deployed a single missile carrier to the Black Sea. In total, 19 ships are on combat duty in the Black Sea and one in the Azov Sea. Two Kalibr cruise missile carriers with a total volley of up to 24 missiles are located in the Mediterranean Sea. 

12 general secondary schools, 5 kindergartens and 2 out-of-school education institutions have been damaged by russian missile attacks on Odesa. However, the city is actively preparing for the start of the school year.

In July, at the request of Tarutino natives – scouts from the 21st Brigade who are deployed in the Donetsk sector – the village council announced a fundraiser to buy a drone and a portable charging station. Employees of institutions and organizations, members of the Tarutino village council, heads of agricultural enterprises, entrepreneurs and community members managed to raise more than UAH 80 thousand. The funds were transferred to the Black Sea Sich Battalion Charitable Foundation, which will purchase the drone.

Kherson oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on August 19, russian troops shelled more than 10 settlements in Kherson oblast with artillery. Among them are Tokarivka, Dudchany, and Veletenske. 

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of  August 19, the russian army shelled a village in Dariivka community. A woman was killed.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that over the past day, russian troops fired artillery at more than 15 settlements towards Kherson. In particular, Mykhailivka, Antonivka, Kherson and Dniprovske. One person was killed, ten more wounded, including a child. Residents of the temporarily occupied Henichesk and Kalanchak in Kherson oblast are actively joining the Yellow Ribbon civil resistance movement. The movement’s activists put up posters reminding that these are Ukrainian cities and towns, hang yellow ribbons, and draw the letter “Ї” on the walls. 

The Ministry of Energy said that in Kherson, about 500 consumers who were without electricity due to the flooding in the region have been reconnected. About 10.5 K customers remain without power. Repair works are slowed down due to shelling. 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

RMA representatives visited Liubomsk Medical Center. Creating a 60-bed rehabilitation center on the basis of the hospital was discussed.

In Volyn oblast, the procession of the UOC of the moscow patriarchate to Pochaiev was banned.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that 5 educational institutions of Zakarpattia received modern portable charging stations from the Save the Children international CF.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

An infantry battalion is being formed in Prykarpattia, which will soon go to the zone of active hostilities. In order to provide the military with everything necessary, equipment and machinery worth over UAH 5.5 mln were purchased with the funds of the regional budget as part of implementation of regional programs.

A newly formed battalion, which will soon go on missions to the combat zone, received a car, which was purchased by the RMA ecology and natural resources management team.

Tlumachi Inclusive Center received a training and development kit from the Save the Children international non-governmental organization.

Lviv oblast

The elimination of the consequences of the missile attack, which occurred on August 15, is ongoing in the oblast. In Stavchan, the commission identified 37 homesteads that were destroyed and will be submitted for monetary compensation. 20 cubic meters of construction waste were removed. Assistance points are open 24 hours a day. At the meeting of the session of Obroshyn village council, an additional UAH 1 mln of assistance was provided for the affected families. Also, compensation for destroyed property will be provided from the state budget within the framework of the eRecovery program.

On his 55th birthday, Yurii Fedechko, Director of the With an Angel on my Shoulder CF decided to walk 100 kilometers in a day in order to collect funds for continuation of rehabilitation and recovery of the defenders cared for by the foundation, as well as to sign a contract with another medical and rehabilitation complex and help more soldiers. The foundation has taken under its patronage over 260 military personnel with amputations who are undergoing rehabilitation in the region.

Over 80% of monuments of the communist past have already been dismantled in Zolochiv region. There are still 9 monuments left.

Rivne oblast

Rivne Hospital of War Veterans is the only medical institution in Ukraine that accepts soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for rehabilitation in the acute period after severe craniocerebral and spinal injuries. In the first 6 months of this year, almost 3K people were treated here. 680 of them received rehabilitation services. Currently, the construction of a new building of the rehabilitation center is planned. Its expected area is over 10K square meters. The building will have a basement and 4 floors. The construction of a helipad for the prompt delivery of wounded defenders is also planned. The state and international partners will invest over UAH 1 billion in this.

Privilena community sent a car for one of the military units of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where the residents of the community serve, to carry out combat missions. The Peugeot boxer was purchased by employees of the executive apparatus, and institutions of the community.

Leaders of 12 communities from Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia oblasts learnt about a safe environment in Rivne oblast thanks to the U-LEAD with Europe international program.

Andrii Karaush, Head of the State Archive Service, paid a working visit to Rivne oblast to discuss a large-scale digitization project, which became possible thanks to the cooperation of the State Archive Service of Ukraine and the FamilySearch International corporation (the US), within the framework of which the partners transferred special equipment.

The Commission on Technological and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations of Chortkiv City Community has banned loud music in the community. Exceptions will be events agreed to by Ternopil RMA.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

At night, during an air alert, Khmelnytskyi was again attacked by the enemy. Hundreds of houses, schools, and communal facilities were damaged by the blast wave in several villages of Khmelnytskyi district. 2 women were injured by shards of glass, 6 more people went to the hospital in a state of shock. Operational groups continue their work on surveying and identifying the consequences of the enemy’s night attack. Dispensing points for building materials allocated from community reserve funds have been deployed. In addition, work is underway to receive assistance from international partners.

In Khmelnytskyi oblast, the procession of the UOC of the moscow patriarchate to Pochaiev was banned.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine awarded Mykhailo Murzak, resident of Verenchansk community, with the Silver Cross badge of honor.

Jake Sullivan, US President’s National Security Adviser, confirmed that Washington has agreed to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets after pilot training is completed.

Armin Papperger, Head of the Rheinmetall German arms concern, announced that a Leopard tank repair base in Ukraine will be operational by the end of August. In addition, the  concern plans to lease a tank factory in Ukraine in order to establish its own production.

The Office of the President of Ukraine reported that Sweden and Ukraine will produce and repair BMP Combat Vehicle 90 (CV90), as well as train Ukrainians.

25 countries have already joined the G7 declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, and Olena Zelenska, First Lady, arrived in Sweden. On the agenda is a meeting with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, King Carl XVI, Queen Silvia, Speaker Andreas Norlen and heads of parliamentary parties.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, held the 6th meeting with representatives of foreign diplomatic institutions accredited in Ukraine regarding the construction of a system for implementing the Peace Formula. Representatives of 63 diplomatic missions took part in the event live and in video conference format.

Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, held a phone conversation with Anna-Maria Bura, Head of the Diplomatic Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Greece. Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, sanctions pressure on russia and guarantees of Ukraine’s security were discussed.

Daria Herasymchuk, Advisor to the President of Ukraine on child rights and child rehabilitation, Denise Brown, Coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine, Murat Shahin, Humanitarian coordinator and Head of the UNICEF Delegation, signed a joint preventive plan to prevent and stop gross violations of children’s rights in the conditions of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine.

The US extended the status of temporary protection for Ukrainians until April 19, 2025. America has expanded opportunities for Ukrainians who are in the country as of August 16. They can apply for temporary protection, and Ukrainian students of US universities (with an F-1 visa) can get a work permit.

At the Shumskas Lithuanian checkpoint (one of the two closed on August 18 on the Lithuanian-belarusian border), the first defensive fortifications against a possible invasion appeared.
