War in Ukraine today: latest news, April 1, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 402 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian army launched 2 missile strikes, 25 air strikes and launched 6 attacks from MLRS.

Being incapable of achieving any results on the battlefield, the russian army continues to cynically wage war against peaceful citizens. The russian federation launched missile attacks on civilian targets in the city of Druzhkivka, Donetsk oblast, and other populated areas of Ukraine, using ballistic missiles. There are wounded among the civilian population.

Ukraine is still under the threat of further missile and air strikes. 

The russian army is concentrating its efforts on conducting offensive actions towards  Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled more than 50 russian attacks. The battles for the districts of Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinka remain the fiercest.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, the operational situation has not changed significantly. The top political leadership of the republic of belarus continues to support russian aggression, providing airspace and territory to russian troops. The training of units of territorial troops of the russian armed forces continues at the belarusian training grounds. At the same time, no signs of the formation of russian offensive groups were detected. Russian military shelled the settlements of Oleksandrivka, Chernihiv oblast; Baranivka, Volfine, Katerynivka, Kindrativka, Novomykolaivka, Popivka of the Sumy oblast, as well as Veterynarne, Zybyne, Okhrimivka and Krasne Pershe settlements in the Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, Dvorichna, Kutkivka, Zapadne, Masiutivka, Kupiansk, Pischane, Krokhmalne and Novoselivske, Kharkiv oblast were under russian fire.

Towards Lyman, russian soldiers conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas south of Kreminna and Verkhinokamiansk. Nevske, Kolodiazi, Dibrova, Bilohorivka and Rozdolivka, Luhansk oblast were hit by artillery fire.

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army does not stop the assault on the city of Bakhmut. However, Ukrainian troops bravely hold the defense. At the same time, russian military conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in Bohdanivka, Donetsk oblast. The russian army shelled the settlements of Vasiukivka, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Diliivka, New York and Druzhkivka.

Towards Avdiivka and Mariinka, the russian army unsuccessfully conducted offensive actions in the areas of Avdiivka, Severnoy, Pervomaisky and Mariinka. They fired at Avdiivka, Orlivka, Netaylovka, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Mariinka.

Towards Shakhtarsk, russian troops actively used UAVs to adjust artillery fire, shelled the settlements of Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Velyka Novosilka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, russian military did not conduct active operations by improving defensive lines and positions. Russian troops carried out shelling of populated areas, which are next to the line of military confrontation. Among them are Vremivka of Donetsk oblast; Burlatske, Zatyshsha, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Mali Scherbaki, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia oblast, as well as Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Zmiivka, Beryslav, Vesele, Mykolaivka, Burhunka, Kizomys, Kherson oblast and the city of Kherson.

Russian troops continue the forced issuing of passports to the population of the temporarily occupied territory, Zaporizhzhia oblast. In the city of Tokmak, they are restricting the movement of Ukrainian citizens who have not received russian passports at checkpoints. Russian servicemen purposely and deliberately search vehicles without further opportunity to enter the city. In the absence of a russian passport, citizens of Ukraine are threatened with a ban on entering the city. In turn, representatives of the federal security service during house searches threaten local citizens of Ukraine with job loss and employment issues without a russian passport.

The Ukrainian Air Force carried out 8 strikes on buildups of russian troops. Units of rocket and artillery troops hit 3 areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment and 2 russian ammunition depots.

According to the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, 467 kids were killed as a result of the large-scale russian invasion. Over 944 kids received injuries of various degrees of severity. On March 31, russian artillery killed 2 people, among them an infant, in Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast.

The Minister of Internal Affairs informed that 8 brigades of “Offensive Guard” were created. Over 35K applications were filed. Assault troops were formed. However, there are lots of volunteers. This is why it was decided to continue the enrollment to form the reserves.


Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops continue to hold positions in the border areas of Kursk and Belgorod regions. The operational situation towards Sloboda has not changed significantly. Yesterday, the enemy attacked Veterynarne, Hoptivka, Strilecha, Hlyboke, Neskuchne, Bochkove and Budarky. Towards Kupiansk, the enemy shelled Kamianka, Fyholivka, Masiutivka, Synkivka and Krokhmalne.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv RMA, Kharkiv oblast was under enemy attack. There were casualties. The enemy continues to shell the settlements. He added that at 12 am, a 43-year-old civilian man was killed in Dvorichna as a result of the enemy attacks.

Yurii Lykhota, head of the Kharkiv branch of the Right Sector, said that a memorial plaque was installed at the site of the deaths of soldiers of Right sector, Ukrainian volunteer unit, Oleksandr Polonskyi “Ukrop”, Oleksandr Alieksieienko “Dzheb” and soldiers of the 92nd Separate Mechanised Brigade, Senior Lieutenant Oleksandr Korobka, Sergeant Zinovii Kinash and Senior Soldier Oleksandr Rodychev. He reminded that the soldiers were killed during the defense of Kharkiv from russian invaders on March 31, 2022.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that in Dovhalivka village, a man tripped on an unknown explosive device in his own yard and blew up. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm on April 1. The 59-year-old man was injured and doctors are currently providing necessary medical assistance. 

In March, 64 defenders of Ukraine from Kharkiv oblast were killed. The deaths were officially reported by communities and universities.

An exhibition of paintings by the deceased artist Artem Azarov opened on March 31 in Kharkiv. The artist fought in the Fraikor volunteer unit. He was killed on March 5, 2022 near Kharkiv. For a year, his comrades were looking for Artem’s paintings to honor his memory.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration said that yesterday, the invaders attacked border settlements of Kharkiv, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk regions. Specifically they targeted Veterynarne, Strilecha, Hlyboke, Kamianka, Masiutivka, Synkivka, Krokhmalne and other settlements. There were no significant destructions or casualties.

Humanitarian de-mining is ongoing. Yesterday, reinforced pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service examined about 8.5 hectares of territory and defused 91 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka. Yesterday, thanks to the organized and coordinated actions of the Defence Forces of Ukraine and the personal courage of each defender, 70 enemy attacks in these areas were repelled. The most intense fighting continues in Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka.

On the night of Friday, March 31, russian invaders shelled Kramatorsk. According to the mayor, Oleksandr Honcharenko, 25 private buildings were damaged as a result of the night attack.

The invaders struck downtown, the building of an educational institution was hit.

According to the Druzhkivka military administration, there were 5 missile attacks. Two apartment buildings, a bank building, an educational institution, a shop and a mini-boiler house were damaged. One civilian was injured but immediately received medical assistance. The areas of shelling are currently being inspected and the extent of damage and destruction is being established. Utility service teams have been working since the morning to eliminate the aftermath of the enemy strikes.

Soldiers of the 93rd Separate Mechanised Brigade mined and blew up a building with russian invaders in Bakhmut. At least ten russians were eliminated as a result of a successful special operation.

Vitalii Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration, reported that russian invaders are shelling Avdiivka. The day before, a 5-month-old child and his grandmother were killed by an enemy shell and the baby’s mother and father were injured.

The State Border Guard Service informed that Ukrainian border guards have shot down a russian drone. Now it will be used by our military.

The enemy took the life of a famous Ukrainian climber Orest Kinash. The officer of the 53rd Mechanised Brigade from Lviv oblast gave his life in the battle for Bakhmut.

Luhansk oblast

Yesterday, the enemy shelled settlements near the frontline. Specifically, Novoselivske, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Dibrova and Bilohorivka were targeted.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the settlements of Schastia region, the invaders were evicting people from their homes to accommodate Russian troops. 

There were 20 fights towards Kupiansk and Lyman yesterday. As a result, 54 invaders were eliminated and 133 injured. Four enemy tanks were also destroyed – three T-72 and one modern Proryv T-90. In addition, referring to Serhii Cherevatyi, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an infantry fighting vehicle and two enemy vehicles were destroyed.

In total, last week the National Guard eliminated about 280 invaders and 11 pieces of enemy military equipment towards Kupiansk, Sloviansk, Siversk, Avdiivka, Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia. The guardsmen of the 1st Presidential Operational Brigade named after Hetman Petro Doroshenko eliminated 100 invaders and burned two enemy armoured vehicles near Bilohorivka.

Roman Vlasenko reported that russians are trying to put pressure towards Bilohorivka and Kreminna. There are mostly artillery duels and russian offensive attempts. The invaders are shelling the routes of humanitarian aid and evacuation from the liberated settlements. In Rubizhne and Lysychansk, the invaders are not restoring the housing at all.

Based on the information provided by the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Bilohorivka remains the site of the most intense fighting in Luhansk oblast and 50 russian soldiers deserted in the region.

Luhansk Regional police reported that a woman was injured as a result of russian shelling in Popasna.

They added that in March, pyrotechnics of the Luhansk police, who serve on the territory of one of the communities of oblast, inspected 26 hectares of territory and found more than 100 explosive items. Among the items seized were Grad MRLs shells, 122-152 mm tank and artillery shells, cluster munitions, anti-tank and mortar mines and RPG grenades.

Ukrainian defenders destroyed a group of russian paratroopers along with armoured vehicles during an attempted assault towards Svatove. Accurate strikes destroyed the equipment along with enemy manpower. The assault on the positions of Ukrainian defenders was repelled.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

NATO delegation office resumes its operation in Kyiv, Ukraine. According to Javier Colomina, Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO, who paid an official visit to Kyiv on 30 March, this will facilitate dialogue and cooperation in the run-up to the NATO Summit in Vilnius.

Around 50 countries and international organisations signed the Bucha Declaration on russia’s accountability for crimes committed in Ukraine. The document was signed following the Bucha Summit and published on the website of the President of Ukraine. The participants of the summit strongly condemned grievous crimes under international law and supported creation of an international mechanism for reparation of damage or losses caused by internationally illegal actions of the russian federation in Ukraine.

Experts from Eurojust, in close cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, are working around the clock to investigate the events in Bucha. The investigation team has been reinforced in Ukraine and six EU member states. According to Ladislav Hamran, President of the agency, this is the largest investigation that Eurojust has ever supported.

A memorial sign in honour of the deceased actor, TV host, and volunteer Pavlo Li was opened in Irpin. He did not survive after his car was shot at by the russian military during the invasion of Kyiv oblast last year. Together with other volunteers, Pavlo coordinated the delivery of food and medicines and helped with the evacuation of people.

Since its foundation, the Kyiv City Centre of Support for ATO Veterans has processed more than 30,000 appeals on issues with military personnel, veterans, and their families. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, monitoring and analysis of requests helps study the needs of veterans and make changes to city programmes to support defenders.

This year, 145 energy efficiency projects are planned to be implemented in Kyiv in the buildings of condominiums and housing cooperatives. Almost UAH 200 million will be allocated for the project under the city’s 70/30 co-financing programme. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, these works will improve the efficiency of the heat supply system and reduce the cost of utilities.

Kyiv Police Dog Training Centre receives 11 more service dogs with support from Howard Buffett’s charitable foundation. All dogs completed their initial training in the Netherlands. They will assist police forces in demining, detecting illegal movement and storage of explosives, weapons and ammunition.

About 30,000 seeds of the ginkgo tree, known for its unique resilience, will be planted in Kyiv. Utility companies will create the best conditions for plants to germinate in greenhouses and plant them in city parks and squares in honor of all defenders of Ukraine. The city received the seeds from German philanthropist and entrepreneur Peter Stirnol.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, surveys on renaming five streets, Pushkinska, Lev Tolstoy, Gagarin, Lermontova, and Chekhov, are being completed on the e-democracy platform. According to the city council, the renaming will take into account the opinion of all people who took part in the online survey.

At the Zhytomyr Medical Institute, 420 teachers from Zhytomyr were trained to provide CPR and control critical hemorrhage. According to the City Department of Education, first aid training is mandatory for every teacher. The teachers who return to the lyceums after training are already teaching their students how to provide first aid.

Five educational institutions of Cherniakhiv village council received new school buses of local origin. The buses were purchased at the expense of the budget of the Cherniakhiv village council via the Prozzoro system. Earlier, the school bus fleet of educational institutions of Cherniakhiv community was significantly reduced, as 7 out of 9 buses were sent to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The traveling exhibition “On the Edge” was opened at the “Idea Hub. Territory of Success” in Zviahel. It focuses on difficulties and dramatic changes in the lives of civilian Ukrainians since 2014 due to the war in Ukraine. The interactive exhibition combines statistical data with testimonies of those affected by the war in Ukraine, demonstrates the private experiences of ordinary Ukrainians, disruption of their daily lives, challenges of adaptation of internally displaced persons, and tells about the true face of new “authorities” in occupied territories, confiscation of property, illegal detention and torture of those who oppose the new regime.

Sumy oblast

The russians shelled the territory of Znob-Novhorodske, Bilopillia, Khotin, and Esman communities. In total, more than 55 artillery and mortar shells were recorded. According to the Military Regional Administration, a resident of Sumy region was wounded as a result of shelling of Khotin community. The regional State Emergency Service reported that due to enemy shelling, a fire broke out on the territory of a private household in Shostka region, which was extinguished by rescuers.

The enemy continues to conduct attacks on the territory of Sumy oblast. In the morning, the russians shelled the territory of Seredyno-Buda community with barrel artillery. There were 4 shells.

It is planned to create a stabilisation fund in Sumy oblast to promptly overcome the consequences and provide urgent material assistance to residents and communities along the border areas, and to repair the damage caused by systematic shelling by the russian federation. This decision was discussed during the meeting of the Sumy District Council.

Chernihiv oblast

Semenivka and Novhorod-Siversk communities of Chernihiv oblast came under enemy fire yesterday. As a result of artillery shelling, three private houses were damaged. In total, there were more than 40 explosions.

The “North” operational command reported that russian troops continue their criminal tactics – shelling the Ukrainian border. As of 4 p.m., 4 shells fired from barrel artillery were recorded in the area of Karpovychi, and 3 rounds fired from were recorded in Bronyvy village.

Viacheslav Chaus, the head of the Regional Military Administration, russian military killed almost 700 civilians during the occupation of Chernihiv oblast. The invaders destroyed more than 12,000 facilities, 85 percent of which are residential buildings. According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, almost 3,000 residential buildings have already been rebuilt on the liberated territories, and another 2,000 are being reconstructed.

According to the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, since April last year, Nova Basan community has been actively rebuilding its infrastructure and housing – 78 residential buildings have been restored with the support of international organizations, and 38 facilities are being renovated. 26 frame houses are being built in the community for families who have lost their homes and for internally displaced persons coming from other oblasts. This project is being implemented by the Rayon# 1 Charitable Foundation.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Modular concrete shelters near the public transport stops are being place in Nikopol. They can accommodate 24 people. 

Vinnytsia oblast 

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Vinnytsia oblast reported that the rescuers conducted training for kids and adults in the premises of headquarters “I am Mariupol. Vinnytsia”. They told the attendees about the fire safety rules and the action plan in case of detecting suspicious and explosive objects. 

Kirovograd oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, a team of “Borets” sports club is launching a new social project. This summer, they will open a summer camp for kids affected by the war in their sports club. 

Poltava oblast 

According to Dmytro Lunin, head of Poltava RMA, a modular shelter will be set up near the local kindergarten in the village of Maiachka. 

The social event “Run. Cycle. Donate” was hosted in the region. 158 participants joined the event in person and 39 online. 85K UAH was collected to purchase the UAV for “Solovei” local military brigade. 

Cherkasy oblast

Cherkasy oncology hospital received humanitarian aid from German colleagues. They sent the medical equipment for complex medical surgeries. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The russian army launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhia, two people were injured. A russian missile landed on the territory of the city cemetery, and 55 private houses near the cemetery were also damaged.

Russian soldiers continue to forced issuing of passports to the population of the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region. In the city of Tokmak, at checkpoints, russians restrict the movement of Ukrainian citizens who have not received russian passports. Ukrainian citizens are threatened with entry bans for not having a russian passport. During house searches, fsb representatives threaten local Ukrainians with job loss and issues with employment without a russian passport.

The temporarily occupied cities of Zaporizhzhia oblast, Enerhodar, Melitopol, Polohy, Berdiansk, Tokmak, Dniprorudne, Yakymivka and many others, remain an integral part of Ukraine. Activists of the Yellow Ribbon civil resistance movement continue to remind Ukrainians of this by posting leaflets against the russian occupation in the settlements of the region that are currently under the yoke of the russian military.

Russia continues to kidnap, abuse, torture and incitement to suicide. Pro-Ukrainian citizens are trying to survive by all means. Thus, a young man committed a suicide yesterday because of the torture of russian fascists. He jumped out of the window of a medical facility on the fifth floor.

Mykolaiv oblast

The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that Ukrainian armed forces are  productively working on the Kinburn Spit in the south of the country. They were able to deprive the enemy of a significant amount of ammunition and reduce the number of attacks in the area.

In Mykolaiv, an equestrian school is holding equine-assisted therapy sessions. Everyone can visit the stables, talk to horses and ride them. Each session lasts about an hour. 

In Mykolaiv oblast, more than 288,000 hectares, or almost 20 percent of arable land, are currently subject to demining.

Odesa oblast

According to  the “South” Operational Command, the russian navy’s operational group in the Black Sea includes not just one submarine with 4 missiles, as it has been for the past few days, but two attack ships and the same submarine with a total volley of up to 12 Kalibr cruise missiles. All in all, there are 6 combat units at sea.

Izmail received an uninterruptible power supply to ensure the operation of medical facilities, schools and other important social facilities as a part of the humanitarian aid. The sponsors were the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It is impossible to defeat the people who can enjoy life and laugh. The 50th anniversary of Humorin was held in Odesa today. Participants held a ceremony to put out the anniversary stamp and open the photo exhibition “Humorin is 50”, as well as a concert “With a Song to Victory” with the participation of the National Guard Orchestra.

Kherson oblast

On March 31, russian occupiers fired 54 times at Kherson oblast, launching 439 shells. The enemy attacked using aircraft, Grad rocket launchers and artillery. Kherson was shelled 5 times. 27 shells hit residential areas of the city, damaging private and apartment buildings.

According to the Kherson RMA, one person was killed in Kherson and four people were wounded in Kozatske village as a result of enemy artillery shelling today. Final data on the victims is being clarified.

As  the “South” Operational Command reported on the left bank of the Kherson region, the Southern Defense Forces struck at a russian army stronghold and destroyed a field ammunition depot. Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 2 russian Hyacinth-B cannons and 1 tank. Ukrainian soldiers also eliminated 14 occupiers and several other units of russian equipment, 2 UAVs, 4 units of armored vehicles and a boat for a subversive reconnaissance group.

Russian occupiers are constantly kidnapping children from Ukraine. They openly admit it. The latest example of this was a video that appeared on social media: the recording shows one of Kadyrovites saying that he had kidnapped a boy of 8 years old. It turned out to be Ivan Malynovskyi from Kherson oblast, who went missing on October 25, 2022.

The police continue to receive reports of looting by the russian military during occupation of settlements. In the village of Oleksandrivka, the russian military stole a Volkswagen Golf, an MT-9 motorcycle, a moped, three bicycles, two generators, chainsaws, drills, grinders, a TV set and other property from a private household. The occupiers stole hunting weapons from residents of Kherson and Arkhanhelske. Last summer, in the village of Vysokopillya, russian soldiers seized a Nissan March belonging to a local resident.

Russian troops shell the Kamianska Sich reserve from the left bank of the Dnipro River. Most of the territory of the national park has been re-mined with “petal” mines. It is impossible to estimate the damage caused by russian aggression, as most of the reserve is mined.

Generators and baby food were delivered to Kherson oblast from Ukrainian philanthropists and charities from Poland and Spain. They are already being distributed among the communities of the region.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk received 2 1,3K kW solid fuel boilers from the USAID. The delivery of three more reserve boilers of 200 and 300 kW is expected.

Rozhishchensk community reported that schools received 21 “School in a Box” sets from the UNICEF fund.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Executive Council of the Assembly of European Regions unanimously decided to grant Zakarpattia the status of a full member of the AER Council.

In Uzhhorod, a report concert of student groups and individual performers of the music school was held. Over UAH 14K were collected to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Children from Donetsk oblast went on an excursion to the Zakarpattia Regional Council. During a tour of the building in the session hall, students played elections and learned how to solve the issues of their community in a democratic way.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA reported that Ivano-Frankivsk rescuers received help from the Opole Voivodeship equip the Safety Class.

The RMA reported that Volodymyr Zelensky,  President of Ukraine, awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and presented the order of the “Golden Star” to Lieutenant Colonel of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Serhiy Yandulskyi, from Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.

Lviv oblast

The “Poland – Ukraine” Partnership Forum is taking place in Lviv. The focus is on cross-border cooperation between states and regions.

Soldiers of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo received 22 pickup trucks from British and Scottish farmers as part of the “Pickups for Peace” campaign. Benefactors brought generators and humanitarian aid for IDPs and residents of the frontline areas.

The Kamianka-Buzka Central Hospital received two ventilators from benefactors from Monolith Italia Nord srl, Malve di Ucraina, Associazione Ucraina a Verona, Association “Mob Movement” for children.

The RMA reported that a charity auction “Birds of Victory” was held in Lviv, at which funds were collected for the purchase of drones.

A shelter for 16 IDPs was opened in the Kamianka-Buzka community in the premises of the former infectious disease hospital. The project was implemented by the “Ukrainian Educational Platform” CF, the public organization “Center for Economic and Legal Development”  and the Kamianka-Buzka City Council.

In the village of Mali Mokriany, Yavoriv region, voluntary fire brigades are being created, which will take care of safety in the settlement and respond to fires and emergency situations. Voluntary fire brigades will function on the basis of the People’s House.

Rivne oblast

The RMA representatives took part in the FIT for Ukraine “Construction Materials” online forum, organized by the “Office for Investment Attraction and Support”. Over 300 representatives of diplomatic institutions, CEOs, construction business owners and investors from 40 countries took part in the event. They discussed prospects for the development of the construction industry in Rivne oblast.

The mother of the deceased Hero handed over a DJI Mavic 3 drone to the defenders. Nataliia’s son, Dmytro Dziubyshyn, commander of the mortar battery, senior lieutenant, was killed as a result of a battle and massive artillery shelling near the village of Zolote, Luhansk oblast. 

The RMA reported that 9 servicemen from Sarny region were posthumously awarded with the 3th degree Order of Courage.

Ternopil oblast

The Department of Emergency Situations in Ternopil oblast reported that the Regional Defense Council decided that mobile Invincible Centers have entered the “ready to deploy” mode.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The Center for Issuing Humanitarian Aid under the Regional Council provided regular humanitarian aid, namely 2.5 tonnes of food to the families of IDPs from the French “Doc4Ukraine” CF and the “Ukrainian Team” CF.

Chernivtsi oblast

Volunteers of the Nedoboiv community sent humanitarian aid, namely a truck with food, medicine, etc., to the military defending Bakhmut and Kharkiv oblast.

A medical evacuation train of Doctors Without Borders – Brussels has arrived in Bukovyna. They transported 15 wards (women) from the communal institution “Lyubomyrivsky Psychoneurological Boarding School” of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council. At the train station, people were met by medics and employees of the Chernivtsi RMA.

In Novodnistrovsk a sensory playroom for children was set up thanks to the RMA and the “Children’s Villages” CF.

 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Ukraine received $1.8 billion from Canada as part of preferential lending. The loan is granted for 10 years, and its interest rate reaches 1.5% per year.

The Board of Directors of the IMF approved granting of a $15.6 billion loan to Ukraine. The four-year support program should meet Ukraine’s urgent financial needs.

On Monday, the US will announce a new $2.6 billion aid package for Ukraine. $2.1 billion are under the USAI program (orders from manufacturers), and $500 million are PDAs (from US stocks).

Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland, reported that Ukraine ordered 100 Polish Rosomak armored personnel carriers.

Boris Pistorius, German Defense Minister, announced that NATO countries plan to send two battalions of German Leopard-2 battle tanks and four Leopard-1 battalions to Ukraine, a total of 160 pieces of equipment will be transferred.

Robert Golob, Prime Minister of Slovenia, signed a declaration of support for Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

Volodymyr Zelensky met with Andrii Plenkovich, Prime Minister of Croatia. Many important issues were discussed, including the creation of a special tribunal to investigate the crime of russian aggression against Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky met with Maya Sandu, President of Moldova. They discussed the creation of a special tribunal regarding the crime of aggression against Ukraine and the prospects of Ukraine and Moldova moving towards European integration.

Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with Emmanuel Macron, President of France. Defense cooperation between Ukraine and France was discussed.

China opposed the transfer of nuclear weapons to other countries and their placement outside the borders of nuclear states.

France refused to host the stage of the Fencing World Cup due to the admission of russians and belarusians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania congratulated the election of the russian federation as the head of the UN Security Council with a joke about a warship. “We congratulate russia on the beginning of the presidency of the UN Security Council! We look forward to discussions regarding Ukraine’s proposal on the destination of your warships,” said Gabrielus Landsbergis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. Despite numerous objections of top EU and UN officials, russia will chair the UN Security Council in April 2023.

A russian who fought against Ukraine was not allowed to enter Moldova. During the conversation with the representatives of the border guards, the man gave misleading and contradictory information. He was refused border crossing and returned to the country of departure.
