On 30 April, the aggressor attacked the positions of the Defense Forces 41 times. Artillery shelling of border areas continues. The settlements of Korenok, Yastrubshchyna, Khliborob, Ryzhivka, Rohizne, Atynske, Bachivsk, Starykove, Havrylova Sloboda, Ulanove, Prohres, and Kozache in Sumy oblast, as well as Khrinivka, Lubiane, Zarichchia, and Mykolaivka in Chernihiv oblast, came under fire. The enemy launched airstrikes on Holubivka and Rudnia.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy carried out 39 strikes on settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops, seven of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy twice conducted assault operations on the positions of Ukrainian units in the vicinity of Lyman and Okhrimivka.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked once in the vicinity of Kurylivka.
Towards Lyman, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault in the vicinity of Stavky.
Towards Sloviansk, Ukrainian soldiers repelled one attempt by the invaders to advance in the vicinity of Zakitne.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy did not conduct any active operations.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out 12 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Stepanivka, Sofiivka, and Illinivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers tried 12 times to push Ukrainian soldiers from their positions in the vicinity of Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Udachne, and Molodetske. One engagement is still ongoing.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy launched two offensives in the vicinity of Verbove and Zlahoda. One of these attacks is ongoing.
Towards Huliaypole, the Defense Forces repelled six enemy attacks in the vicinity of Dobropillia, Staroukrainka, Varvarivka, Tsvitkove, Olenokostiantynivka, and Hulyaypilske.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy did not conduct any offensive operations.
Towards Kherson, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy assaults in the vicinity of Antonivka and Bilohrudyi Island. One attack is ongoing.
In other areas, there were no significant changes in the situation. Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of contact and in the rear.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
On 30 April, russian troops attacked Kharkiv oblast three times: twice they stormed the positions of Ukrainian units in the vicinity of Lyman and Okhrimivka towards Southern Sloboda, and another attack was recorded towards Kupiansk in the vicinity of Kurylivka. According to the military, on 29 April, a relative lull was observed towards Kupiansk; however, on 30 April, the occupiers resumed assault operations and continue attempts to advance to the northern outskirts of Kupiansk via Holubivka.
Over the past day, there were 177 combat engagements in the oblast. Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops attacked nine times in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, Okhrimivka, and Krasne Pershe. Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted three assaults in the vicinity of Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, and Kupiansk.
In Kharkiv, in the morning, an unidentified explosive object detonated near a shopping center. As a result of the explosion, a 64-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds to his legs.
In Kharkiv oblast, russian troops continue to strike border communities. In Liutivka, Zolochiv community, Molniia and FPV drones destroyed two private houses and damaged two others this morning. Outbuildings were also damaged. There are no injuries. In the village, where about 300 people lived just a month ago, 18 residents remain—mostly elderly—following the announcement of forced evacuation.
Throughout the day,there were UAV strikes in Liutivka and Riasne, Zolochiv community. In Liutivka, a strike hit an administrative building housing an invincibility point. russian troops have been attacking the village for the fourth consecutive day.

In Dehtiari, Bohodukhiv region, an FPV drone attacked a civilian vehicle. Two men, aged 46 and 71, were injured.
In the village of Oskil, private households were damaged as a result of a russian strike. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties.
Over the past day, Kharkiv and 24 settlements in the oblast were targeted by russian strikes. Nine people were injured as a result of the shelling. In Petrivka, Barvinkove community, seven people were wounded; in Chuhuiv, a 69-year-old woman was injured; and in Velykyi Burluk, a 69-year-old woman was injured.

In Kharkiv oblast, the occupiers used one missile, three guided aerial bombs (KABs), nine Geran-2 UAVs, 22 Molniia UAVs, one FPV drone, and 31 drones of an unidentified type.
Bohodukhiv region suffered the greatest destruction: private houses, warehouses, agricultural machinery, tractors, a boarding school, an administrative building, a cafe, a shop, cars, and agricultural enterprises were damaged. In Kupiansk region, residential buildings were damaged; in Izium region—private houses, outbuildings, a service station, a post office, and non-residential buildings. In Chuhuiv region, a gas station, an industrial facility, and 14 private houses were damaged.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 203 people over the day. Since it began operating, 31,194 people have been registered there.
As of early April, more than 213,000 internally displaced persons are in Kharkiv, 93,000 of whom are residents of the oblast. Information safety meetings are being held for IDPs living in city dormitories, covering actions during shelling, safety in daily life, near bodies of water, and on the internet.
Kharkiv oblast police continue to evacuate civilians from dangerous areas and assist animals: law enforcement officers remove them from shelling zones, feed them, and hand them over to volunteers or local residents.

Donetsk oblast
In Donetsk oblast, the Defense Forces repelled 22 assaults towards Kostiantynivka and 41 towards Pokrovsk. Towards Kostiantynivka, russian troops attacked in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and Stepanivka. Towards Pokrovsk, battles continued in the vicinity of Novopavlivka, Bilytske, Dorozhnie, Vilne, Serhiivka, Kucheriv Yar, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Nykanorivka, Rivne, Molodetske, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, and Novopidhorodne.
The russian command is forming a new grouping for a spring offensive towards Pokrovsk and is transferring forces there from other sectors of the front. At the same time, towards Lyman, the russian army is changing tactics: before assaults, it actively deploys drones and KABs, and with the appearance of “greenery” (spring foliage), it is preparing to advance in small infantry groups. Towards Kostiantynivka, the occupiers are also increasingly acting in groups of 2–3 soldiers, attempting to gradually infiltrate through the Ukrainian defense.
In Kramatorsk on 30 April, a russian drone attacked a gas station, causing a gas storage tank and nearby vegetation to catch fire. The fire, covering an area of 103 square meters, was extinguished; there were no casualties.

At night, russian troops also attacked Shabelkivka and Yasnohirka of Kramatorsk community with drones. In Yasnohirka, six private houses and an outbuilding were damaged, and a summer kitchen caught fire. There were no casualties.
On 29 April, there were 1,437 russian strikes along the front line and the residential sector of Donetsk oblast. Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, Sviatohorivka, Kindrativka, Ocheretyne, and Tetianivka were under fire. 21 civilian objects were damaged, including 11 residential buildings.

In Druzhkivka, russian troops carried out nine strikes, including three KAB-250 aerial bombs, Smerch MLRS, and drones. One civilian was killed, and two others were injured. Four private houses, an enterprise, and three cars were damaged.
russian troops attacked Kramatorsk with four drones. One person was injured. Three apartment buildings, the premises of a courier delivery service, a civilian car, and an excavator were damaged in the city.
In Mykolaivka, a private house and a car were damaged; in Tetianivka, three private houses were affected.
russian troops also attacked a vehicle of the Phoenix evacuation group with a drone in Druzhkivka.
In four settlements of Donetsk oblast where the forced evacuation of families with children is ongoing, 36 children remain.
In occupied Mariupol, the occupation “commission on ownerless housing” is posting notices backdated, photographing them, and then tearing them down. Because of this, residents miss the specified deadlines and cannot prove ownership to save their housing from seizure.
Luhansk oblast
In Luhansk oblast, russian troops attacked 14 times towards Lyman and Sloviansk, attempting to find weak spots in the Ukrainian defense in the vicinity of seven settlements. Within the oblast, the occupiers used tube artillery 13 times, mortars five times, fired automatic grenade launchers twice, and deployed drones on four other occasions.
In temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast, the ruling russian party extended the registration of candidates for the preliminary voting for the russian State Duma until 14 May due to a low number of applicants. The campaign was supposed to conclude on 30 April, but the occupation administration added two weeks because of the lack of participants.
In Dovzhansk, Alchevsk, and several other occupied cities, the waste disposal crisis is worsening. Local residents are increasingly complaining about the inaction of the occupation authorities: in some residential blocks, household waste has not been removed for months, and courtyards are turning into makeshift landfills.
Approximately 1,200 miners in temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast have not received their salaries since last year. This concerns employees of three mines who were left without payments after the actual shutdown of the enterprises.
In temporarily occupied Sievierodonetsk, an activist of the Otpor movement burned a propaganda poster calling for people to join the russian army.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Regional State Administration, announced that, as part of the ‘Side by Side: United Communities’ project, over 120 memoranda of understanding have been signed between communities in Kyiv oblast and frontline communities. The project provides tangible support and assistance with reconstruction, the reception of internally displaced persons, the organisation of leisure activities for children, the exchange of experience, and joint projects.
As part of the 2nd International Solidarity Forum, the Yahotyn community signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Novhorod-Siverskyi community and the municipality of Cubellas (Kingdom of Spain). This is another step towards expanding international cooperation and attracting resources for development.
On 30 April in Kyiv, a farewell was held for Viktoria Bobrova (call sign Kvitka), who served as an officer in the communications unit of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade ‘Edelweiss’. In civilian life, she worked in the film industry as a producer, casting director, production assistant and researcher. She was involved in a number of Ukrainian projects, particularly documentaries. Viktoria died on 23 April whilst carrying out a combat mission at the front.
Kyiv Military Hub reported that the capital will host Ukraine’s first arm wrestling and adaptive arm wrestling championship for military personnel, veterans and representatives of the security and defence sector. The competition will mark the launch of a new system of rehabilitation through sport. Participants with combat experience who demonstrate their resilience in civilian life on a daily basis will compete. The competition will take place on 1 May at the Respublika Park shopping centre.
Zhytomyr oblast
A meeting was held in the village of Brusyliv, Zhytomyr district, with the families of prisoners of war and those missing in action. Families from the Radomyshl, Popilnia, Kornyn and Kvitneva communities also attended.
In one of the secondary schools in the Olevsk community, a training facility has been set up to teach over 600 students from 17 local schools theoretical and practical military skills. The secondary school students learn how to operate FPV drones, study the basics of military tactics and learn the fundamentals of first aid.
Sumy oblast
The prosecutor’s office reported that on the morning of 30 April, russian forces attacked a vehicle by a UAV in Hlukhiv community. A 51-year-old driver was injured.
The Regional Military Administration informed that in the morning of 30 April, the enemy struck a bus carrying civilians in Seredyna-Buda community by a drone. According to preliminary information, the passengers were not injured, and the driver is being examined by medics.

As a result of a russian drone attack, four private houses were damaged in the Stetskivka starosta district of Sumy community — windows were shattered and outbuildings were damaged. russian forces also struck two civilian vehicles with an FPV drone in the yard of a private house in the Pishchane starosta district. No people were injured, Head of the Sumy City Military Administration Serhii Kryvosheienko reported.
Mayor Mykola Noha said that during the night of 30 April, russian forces attacked Shostka in Sumy oblast by drones. A fire broke out in a non-residential building. An infrastructure facility and a garage were destroyed. Part of the community was left without electricity.
According to the Regional Military Administration, as a result of russian shelling across the oblast over the past day, as of the morning of 30 April, two people were injured. In Seredyna-Buda community, a 56-year-old man was injured following a UAV strike. In Mykolaivka settlement community, a 54-year-old man was injured as a result of a drone attack.
Over the past day, from the morning of 29 April to the morning of 30 April, russian forces carried out more than 60 attacks on 38 settlements across 19 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, MLRS, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 17 hours and 55 minutes over the day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
- in Novoslobidska community, a private house and a vehicle were damaged;
- in Shostka community, a private house was destroyed, while private houses, multi-apartment buildings, an administrative building, non-residential buildings, outbuildings, civilian infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged;
- in Shalyhyne community, a private house was destroyed;
- in Esman community, a private house was destroyed;
- in Hlukhiv community, a private house and outbuildings were damaged;
- in Svesa community, a private house and non-residential buildings were damaged;
- in Seredyna-Buda community, a private house, outbuildings, and a vehicle were damaged;
- in Velyka Pysarivka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- in Krolevets community, multi-apartment buildings, a private house, and vehicles were damaged;
- in Chupakhivka community, a private house was damaged;
- in Putyvl community, a passenger vehicle was damaged;
- in Sumy community, private houses and passenger vehicles were damaged;
- in Mykolaivka settlement community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- in Krasnopollia community, a private house and an outbuilding were damaged;
- in Sadiv community, trucks were damaged;
- in Mykolaivka rural community, a private house was damaged;
- in Yampil community, non-residential buildings were damaged, and as a result of earlier shelling, private and multi-apartment houses, a civilian infrastructure facility, and an educational institution were also damaged;
- in Berezivka community, administrative buildings and educational facilities were also damaged as a result of earlier shelling.
Over the past day, seven people were evacuated from border areas by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and volunteer organisations.
Chernihiv oblast
Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of the City Military Administration, said that in Chernihiv, a russian UAV struck an administrative building on 30 April. As of 10:36am, two people were reported injured.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 30 April, russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in the border town of Semenivka by an FPV drone.
During the night of 30 April, russian forces attacked Sosnytsia community in Koriukivka region by Heran-type strike UAVs. Two civilian men were injured. Agricultural machinery was damaged, including trucks, combines, a tractor, and a passenger car. An angar caught fire.

Over the course of 29 April, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that the enemy carried out shelling using mortars (18 explosions), conducted FPV drone strikes (10 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions). Nine settlements came under enemy fire.
On 28 April, a Ukrainian-language version of the book Jingle BellZ by Oleksii Anulia, a former prisoner of war from Chernihiv, was released. The book is a personal account of the fate of Ukrainian POWs in russian prisons and torture facilities.
The book was first published in 2025 in russian with support from the Latvian government and was intended for distribution in russia via Asian and Caucasus countries. According to the author, the presentation will take place in Kyiv and then in Chernihiv in early June.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that the occupiers struck Nikopol, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities by FPV drones.
A fire broke out. 2 private houses, a gas station, non-operational buildings and infrastructure were damaged.
In Nikopol, russian forces shelled a market by artillery. 2 women aged 52 and 62 were injured.
Also, due to a morning FPV attack in the city, an 88-year-old man was injured. A passenger bus was attacked in Myrove community. The occupiers targeted Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. A fire broke out. 8 private houses, a high-rise building, a cultural centre, an enterprise, a summer kitchen, a garage, vehicles, a gas pipeline and infrastructure were damaged. In Dnipro, a man was injured due to a UAV attack. A fire broke out. According to updated information, 18 people were injured as a result of the morning attack. In Mezhova community, a private house caught fire due to a UAV attack.
Kirovohrad oblast
According to Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, Kirovohrad oblast continues to provide shelter to people who were forced to leave their homes due to the war. Another group of evacuees arrived in Oleksandrivka community. This time, 15 displaced persons, including 2 children, found a 2nd home in the oblast.
Poltava oblast
In Poltava, people paid tribute to 20-year-old serviceman Ismail Askerov Aris Ohli. He had Azerbaijani roots but grew up in Ukraine. Ismail served as a rifleman in an assault battalion and was killed on 18 April on Pokrovsk axis.
Cherkasy oblast
Students and teachers of Cherkasy School No. 20 collected UAH 150,000 to support the military during the academic year through school charity events.
In Hryshchyntsi, residents welcomed defender Dmytro Kriachek, who spent almost 2 years in russian captivity.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
This night, an enemy Shahed UAV was again spotted in the oblast. The target was destroyed by the Air Defense Forces.
Zakarpattia oblast
The 1st meeting of the Accessibility Council in Zakarpattia oblast this year was held. The focus was on the real state of accessibility in communities and further steps to implement the state accessibility policy. The priority remains the creation of barrier-free routes, which have already been approved by 80% of communities, as well as the involvement of the private sector in ensuring accessibility.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
A veteran from the Carpathians, who now works in Ivano-Frankivsk RMA team, set a world record in adaptive sports. Andrii Yakubenko, on a rowing machine in the age category of 40–49 years, in the class of athletes with one arm, covered 306 m in 1 min. This is the best result in the world.
Lviv oblast
In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Kononenko was awarded the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously). The soldier was an inspector of the border service of the border commandant’s rapid response unit Shkval. He died on February 9, 2025 in a hospital after being seriously wounded during a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.
Rivne oblast
The veterans’ hub VOLIA MIRU has been officially opened in Sarny community. The space will operate on the basis of the Zhyttia psychosocial support center.
Ternopil oblast
Another defender from Ternopil, who returned from russian captivity, will receive UAH 50,000 from the city. In 2025, 13 people received such assistance. In 2026, four more.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Together with Vitalii Bandyrskyi, Director of Khmelnytskyi Regional Employment Center, he presented grant certificates to 15 entrepreneurs from the regional center. Future and existing entrepreneurs, including veterans, received microgrants totaling over UAH 5m.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi community conducted the final earthly journey of the deceased Serhii Balan, Junior Sergeant of the Military Unit A4808. The soldier was killed while performing combat missions in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Israel has refused to unload a ship carrying grain stolen from the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine. Grain importer Tsentsiper told Russian supplier SGM that the ship needed to find another point to unload. This is the 1st time Israel has refused to unload a ship suspected of transporting stolen Ukrainian grain.
Hegseth, Defense Secretary, announced that the US Department of Defense has unblocked $400m in military aid to Ukraine that was previously held up at the Pentagon.
