What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

On 25 July, the aggressor attacked the positions of the Defense Forces 79 times.

Artillery shelling of border areas continues. In Sumy oblast, the settlements of Neskuchne, Korenok, Sopych, Kucherivka, Rohizne, Ulanove, Buvalyne, Bachivsk, and Hirky were affected; in Chernihiv oblast – Khotiivka and Prohres.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy carried out 34 shellings of settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops, including five shellings using multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the invaders made seven attempts to break through the defense in the vicinity of the settlements of Prylipka and Starytsia, and towards the settlements of Ternova, Izbytske, and Khatnye. One engagement is ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, there was one enemy attack heading towards Shyikivka.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian warriors repelled four attempts by the invaders to advance towards Lyman.

Towards Sloviansk, the Defense Forces repelled 15 enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Kryva Luka and Zakitne, Pyskunivka and Rai-Oleksandrivka. One engagement is still ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, no offensive operations by the enemy were recorded.

Towards Kostiantynivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Ivanopillia, and towards Stepanivka. Two engagements are ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers have made 22 attempts to push Ukrainian warriors out of their positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Sofiivka, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, and Udachne, and towards the settlements of Vilne, Nove Shakhove, Novyi Donbas, Shevchenko, and Myrne. One engagement is still ongoing.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy attacked twice near Verbove and Berezove.

Towards Huliaipole, the Defense Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks near the settlements of Verkhnia Tersa, Tsvitkove, Vozdvizhivka, Kosivtseve, Hirke, and Charivne.

Towards Orikhiv and Kherson, the enemy conducted no offensive operations.

There are currently no significant changes in the situation in other directions. No attempts by the enemy to advance have been recorded.

Frontline

July 25

As of 16:00, russian troops attacked seven times towards Southern Sloboda — in the vicinity of Prylipka and Starytsia, and towards Ternova, Izbytske, and Khatnye. One engagement was ongoing. Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched one attack towards Shyikivka.

July 24

Over the past day, 230 combat engagements were recorded at the front. Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops attacked the positions of the Defense Forces ten times in the vicinity of Starytsia and towards Ivashkyne, Kolodiazne, Ternova, and Izbytske. Towards Kupyansk, the enemy launched five attacks towards Kupiansk, Radkivka, and Shyikivka.

Shelling

July 25

Around 04:20, russian Molniya drones attacked Odnorobivka, Zolochiv community. A one-story apartment building, four private houses, and outbuildings were damaged. No casualties were reported.

In the morning, a russian drone attacked a private house in Zhukiv Yar, Kupiansk region. A fire broke out over an area of 150 square meters.

Around 10:00, russian troops launched a missile strike on Balakliia. Hits were recorded in the private sector and on the territory of a civilian enterprise. Two women suffered an acute stress reaction.

In Derhachi, a jet-powered Geran-3 UAV struck an energy infrastructure facility. Two 60-year-old men sustained injuries and burns. Due to the damage, the city was completely left without electricity; the timeframe for its restoration is unknown.

In Slatyne, an FPV drone attacked a shop. A 44-year-old resident of Kozacha Lopan sustained shrapnel wounds.

Around 13:45, a russian FPV drone struck a shop in Zolochiv. The roof and facade of the building were damaged.

Additionally, a 45-year-old man died who had been injured the day before as a result of a russian drone attack on a car in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv.

July 24

According to Kharkiv RMA, russian troops attacked Kharkiv and 15 other settlements in the oblast. One person was killed, and 14 were injured.

In Kharkiv, a 67-year-old man was killed, and a 45-year-old man was injured. In Korbyni Ivany, seven people suffered an acute stress reaction. In a field near Pysarivka, men aged 37 and 46 were wounded. In Bohodukhiv, three people suffered an acute stress reaction, and in Izium — a 37-year-old woman.

In a field near Berezivka, three men aged 34, 44, and 53 were injured due to the detonation of an explosive device.

In Koziivka, a russian Molniya drone attacked a car transporting paint. The driver was injured, and a 76-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction.

Over the past day, russian troops used one missile, four KABs, two Geran-2 UAVs, eight Molniya UAVs, eight FPV drones, and 44 more drones of an unidentified type.

As a result of the attacks, residential buildings, a medical facility, administrative and utility buildings, enterprises, shops, a gas station, a post office, cars, power grids, and railway infrastructure were damaged in Kharkiv, as well as in Bohodukhiv, Izium, Kharkiv, and Lozova regions.

Other

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 221 people over the day. Since the launch of its operation, 47,621 evacuees have been registered.

Valky and Krasnokutsk communities are requesting the restoration of their status as territories of possible military hostilities due to the deteriorating security situation and strikes on residential buildings, shops, and gas stations. In 2025, the communities renounced this status to conduct in-person learning in basic shelters.

In border Vilkhuvatka community, the security situation has deteriorated due to constant russian attacks, leading to disruptions in communications and other utilities. The population of the hromada has decreased by more than half.

Over the week, volunteers evacuated around 50 residents from the frontline areas of Kharkiv oblast, including 35 people evacuated by the team of the NGO “Troianda na Rutsi”.

Australia has provided Kharkiv oblast with 250 power transformers worth over 1.2 million euros. The equipment will be used to restore power grids damaged by russian strikes and to improve the reliability of electricity supply.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

Towards Pokrovsk, russian troops attacked the positions of the Defense Forces 37 times in the vicinity of Dorozhne, Udachne, Nykanorivka, Kotlyne, Novomykolaivka, and Molodetske, as well as towards Shevchenkove, Novooleksandrivka, Vasylivka, Bilytske, Novyi Donbas, Novopavlivka, and Serhiivka. Towards Sloviansk, the Ukrainian military repelled 23 attacks, and 21 towards Kostiantynivka.

The Defense Forces repelled a massive mechanized assault by russian troops in the area of Shakhove. For the assault, the enemy deployed units of the 8th and 41st Armies and the 90th Tank Division, which advanced simultaneously from Novoekonomichne and Vozdvizhenka under the cover of strike drones. The Ukrainian military destroyed seven tanks, six armored vehicles, and eliminated nearly 130 occupiers.

russian troops also intensified their attempts to approach Lyman from the south and establish a foothold on the eastern outskirts of the city.

Shelling

July 25

In Druzhkivka, a russian FPV drone attacked a civilian car. A local resident was killed. Around 01:00, another FPV drone struck a parked civilian car.

July 24

According to the police, russian troops carried out 1,444 strikes against the frontline and residential sector of Donetsk oblast. Six settlements were under fire. Six people were killed, and 30 others were injured, including a child. 72 civilian objects were damaged, including 42 residential buildings.

russian troops struck Sloviansk with six guided aerial bombs and four drones. Five people were killed, and 27 others were injured, including a 15-year-old boy. 16 apartment buildings, 21 private houses, two shops, two cafes, a pharmacy, a consulate, a wholesale base, an enterprise, an administrative building, and nine cars were damaged.

Among the dead are Donetskoblgaz employees Ivan Kosse and Borys Morhunov. After the initial shelling, they were helping extinguish the fire and were killed as a result of a repeated russian strike.

In Druzhkivka, as a result of strikes with KABs and drones, one person was killed and three others were injured. A private house was damaged.

Luhansk oblast

Combat Operations

russian troops carried out 30 shellings of Ukrainian positions in Luhansk oblast. The enemy used tube artillery nine times, mortars seven times, dropped explosives from drones eight times, launched four FPV drone attacks, and fired from an automatic grenade launcher. Towards Lyman, the Defense Forces repelled 16 attempts by russian troops to break through the Ukrainian defense.

Occupation

In temporarily occupied Sievierodonetsk, the occupation administration announced the start of hydraulic testing of the heating system from July 31. At the same time, local residents report that heating networks in many districts have still not been laid, and excavated trenches have remained in courtyards since spring. City residents fear a repetition of the situation from previous years, when fees were charged for heating that was virtually nonexistent or inadequate.

Due to a shortage of workers in occupation administrations, the so-called “lpr” authorities are lifting age restrictions for officials and extending contracts with employees of retirement age. In this way, the occupation system is trying to compensate for the personnel deficit and avoid a halt in the operation of local government bodies.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

25 July is a day of mourning in Kyiv oblast.

In Bucha region, mass gatherings have been banned following yesterday’s attack. In Irpin and Borshchahivka communities, all cultural, sporting, entertainment and other public events have been cancelled until further notice. These measures have been introduced solely for safety reasons.

Emergency rescue operations have been completed at the site of the missile strike in Bucha region. Emergency services extinguished fires in three private residential buildings and eight cars. In addition, 23 private residential buildings, two hotels, a restaurant and 34 cars were damaged.

Chabanivska community hosted the Military Picnic of the Unconquered — an event that brought together veterans, their family members, young people and anyone interested in military history.

Bucha community purchased and dispatched a modern all-terrain vehicle, worth 1.5 million hryvnias, to Donetsk oblast. A documentary-historical study entitled ‘The Hunt for the Cruiser “Moscow”’ and its English-language version were presented at the Bucha Public Library.

A Memorandum of Partnership was signed between Boyarska and Horodenka urban territorial communities, cementing their joint efforts to support veterans, internally displaced persons, cultural initiatives and grant applications. The first official online meeting between representatives of Boyarska community and the town of Kryulyany also took place.

Fastiv community has received a state-of-the-art energy storage system for the needs of the ‘Fastivvodokanal’ municipal enterprise as part of Germany’s Winter Aid package. In addition, representatives of the municipal community paid an official visit to their twin town of Meerbuš (Germany), where they agreed on the further development of cooperation.

Borodianka community welcomed the representatives of the international project ‘Media Dialogue – Eastern Partnership’.

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the Regional State Administration, announced that Zhytomyr oblast is leading the way in the development of a decentralised and energy-independent system. In the first half of the year, our region ranked second in Ukraine in terms of the capacity of cogeneration plants commissioned, at 39.40 MW, second only to Kyiv oblast. This is a significant step towards ensuring a stable supply of heat and electricity in local communities, demonstrating the ability of local businesses and authorities to invest in the resilience of critical infrastructure. In addition, the oblast is also performing well in solar energy, ranking among the top five in terms of the capacity of new industrial solar power plants, with an additional 28.40 MW. The systematic expansion of alternative power generation is making Zhytomyr oblast more self-sufficient and resilient to challenges.

Sumy oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that in Sumy community, three men aged 43, 48 and 53 were killed in a russian drone strike. A 33-year-old man was injured, while a 28-year-old man suffered an acute stress reaction.

In Velyka Pysarivka community, a 51-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a russian drone strike on 23 July. A 79-year-old woman also sought medical treatment after being injured in the same attack.

In Buryn community, a 53-year-old man was injured in a russian drone strike.

In Shostka community, a 46-year-old man was injured in a UAV strike.

In Mykolaivka rural community, a 58-year-old man was injured in a russian drone strike, while a local woman suffered an acute stress reaction.

A 54-year-old woman sought medical treatment after being injured in a russian drone strike on Seredyno-Budska community on 23 July.

The Regional Military Administration informed that between the morning of 24 July and the morning of 25 July 2026, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 28 settlements across 18 territorial communities in Sumy oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs.

The following damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded:

  • In Putyvl community, a minibus was damaged.
  • In Nova Sloboda community, a civilian infrastructure facility and a private residential house were damaged.
  • In Bilopillia community, administrative buildings and a café building were damaged.
  • In Hlukhiv community, an administrative building, passenger cars and a non-residential building were damaged.
  • In Andriiashivka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
  • In Sumy community, non-residential premises, civilian infrastructure facilities, a bus and vehicles were damaged.
  • In Shostka community, private residential houses, outbuildings and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged.
  • In Buryn community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
  • In Velyka Pysarivka community, a private residential house was damaged.
  • In Yampil community, an art installation was damaged.
  • In the Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was damaged.
  • In Popivka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
  • In Romny community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
  • In Kyrykivka community, a private residential house and a passenger car were damaged.
  • In Znob-Novhorodske community, a civilian infrastructure facility was destroyed.

Residential houses, outbuildings and other property previously damaged by shelling were also recorded in Seredyna-Buda, Esman, Shostka, Shalyhyne and Znob-Novhorodske communities.

Over the past 24 hours, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and non-governmental organisations, evacuated 14 people from border communities. Air raid alerts were in effect across the oblast for 23 hours and 36 minutes during the day.

Nadiia Vailo, Head of Hlukhiv community, said that russian forces have been attacking the local hospital for several consecutive days. On 24 July, a strike hit the vegetable storage facility, while on 25 July it targeted the hospital’s catering unit. The kitchen was destroyed and is no longer operational, with the roof and power supply damaged.

Chernihiv oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that three civilians were injured in a russian Heran UAV attack on Kulykivka. The injured received the necessary medical assistance and were hospitalised in medical facilities in Chernihiv.

Throughout the day, the enemy attacked Semenivka by FPV drones. During the day, drones struck a private yard and vehicles, damaging the transport and setting an outbuilding on fire. In the evening, another drone struck the roof of the town’s House of Culture.

In a village of Koriukivka community, russian strike drones attacked the premises of two agricultural enterprises in the evening. A fire broke out, destroying an outbuilding, vehicles, equipment and a stock of seeds.

Over the past 24 hours, russian strikes also hit energy and telecommunications facilities.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, reported that russian forces attacked the regional centre, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. An unused building caught fire. A private residential house and an outbuilding were damaged. Infrastructure was damaged in Bozhedarivka community in a UAV attack. A vehicle was also damaged in a UAV strike on Zelendolsk.

Two women were killed and two other women were injured. Enemy forces attacked the regional centre, Chervonohryhorivka, Pokrovske rural, Marhanets and Myrove communities by artillery and drones. Fires broke out. Ten apartment buildings, three private residential houses, a kindergarten, six shops, a café, a minibus, five vehicles, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged.

Enemy forces launched UAV attacks on Apostolove and Lozuvatka communities. A man was injured. Fires broke out. Two private residential houses, a tractor, infrastructure and a gas pipeline were damaged. Vasylkivka community was struck by a guided aerial bomb.

Vinnytsia oblast

In Lypovets residents paid tribute to Major Ivan Revatskyi of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended Ukraine for nearly 12 years, beginning with the onset of russian aggression in 2014. He served during the Anti-Terrorist Operation and returned to defend the country following the start of the full-scale invasion. He was 51 years old. 

Poltava oblast

Enemy forces attacked several facilities in Poltava region. russian UAVs struck two petrol stations and a fire station building. russian drones also attacked two additional petrol stations in the region. 

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, informed that air defence forces shot down four russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast overnight. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that in the evening, russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia. A warehouse belonging to a logistics operator was hit. A fire broke out at the impact site.

 

At around 10:55am, russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia. One woman was killed and another 11 people were injured, including 3 children aged 3, 5 and 7.

As a result of a russian drone strike on a shopping complex, buildings were damaged and goods caught fire. A 63-year-old man was injured in the attack.

On 24 July, 10 people were injured as a result of russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia oblast. In total, over the past day, the russian military launched 1,067 strikes on 48 settlements across the oblast. UAVs of various types, primarily FPV drones, were used most extensively.

Mykolaiv oblast

Heorhii Reshetilov, Acting Head of Mykolaiv RMA, informed that on the morning of 25 July, russian forces attacked the port infrastructure of Mykolaiv oblast by Shahed UAVs. As a result of the attack, 2 civilian vessels were damaged.

During the night of 25 July, the russian military attacked Snihurivka community by a Molniia UAV. As a result, a cargo truck caught fire. There were no injuries reported.

According to the Regional Military Administration, on 24 July, the russian military attacked the port infrastructure of Mykolaiv oblast by Shahed strike UAVs. As a result of the attack, 2 civilian vessels and an administrative building were damaged. 6 garages and a vehicle were damaged in Mykolaiv. There were no injuries reported. The russian forces attacked Ochakiv community 3 times by FPV drones. There were no injuries reported.

Odesa oblast

Mykola Kalashnyk, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, reported that While departing from one of the ports in Odesa oblast on July 25, russian forces twice attacked a civilian vessel flying the flag of Palau that was carrying nearly 2,800 tonnes of corn. As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out on board and 2 sailors are considered missing. 7 crew members and the Ukrainian pilot were rescued.

Oleh Kiper, Head of the RMA, reported that as a result of the russian attack on Odesa oblast, a private house, around 10 neighbouring houses and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged. A 65-year-old man was injured.

According to the Regional Military Administration, during the night of 25 July, russia attacked Izmail region. Thanks to the effective work of the air defence forces, almost no destruction was recorded.

Kherson oblast

Referring to Kherson RMA, at approximately 2:40pm, russian occupiers once again shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 91-year-old man sustained fatal injuries. A 65-year-old woman, an 88-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were injured in their own home. They sustained blast injuries and concussions.

At around noon, a man was injured in Korabelnyi district of Kherson as a result of a russian drone attack. The 54-year-old resident was taken to hospital with blast injuries, a shrapnel wound to his leg and a concussion.

2 residents of Kherson were injured as a result of russian drone attacks in Korabelnyi district. At around 11:50am and 12pm, men born in 1955 and 1968 came under enemy strikes. According to preliminary information, they sustained blast injuries.

At around 11:40am, russian forces attacked a public transport stop in Korabelnyi district of Kherson by a drone. As a result of the strike, a 62-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to her back.

At around 11:40am, russian forces once again attacked Korabelnyi district of Kherson by a drone. A 48-year-old woman came under the enemy attack. According to preliminary information, she sustained blast injuries.

At around 8am, russian forces attacked a man by a UAV in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. The 44-year-old resident, who was walking along the street, sustained a concussion, blast injuries and a closed traumatic brain injury.

At around 6am, russian occupiers shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson by artillery. 2 men were injured in the attack. The 46-year-old resident was diagnosed with a skull fracture, a shoulder fracture, a brain haematoma, a chest wound, blast injuries and an open traumatic brain injury. The 58-year-old resident sustained facial injuries, a fractured femur and blast injuries.

In the morning, russian terrorists shelled Tsentralnyi and Korabelnyi districts of Kherson. A 47-year-old man sustained fatal injuries in the attack. 3 apartment buildings, 5 private houses, an educational institution, a garage and a vehicle were damaged by the russian strikes. A woman and a man were injured in their own home. They were diagnosed with concussions, blast injuries and closed traumatic brain injuries. A 68-year-old resident sustained blast injuries and a joint contusion. Doctors are fighting for the lives of 2 more seriously injured residents.

At around 9pm yesterday, 2 people were injured in a russian drone strike on Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 48-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds, concussions, blast injuries and closed traumatic brain injuries.

Yesterday evening, 24 July, russian forces attacked Korabelnyi district by a drone. A 20-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and a concussion.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

41-year-old soldier Petro Melnyk was buried in Tsuman community. The Hero was considered missing since 2025 and recognized as dead since 19 February 2025. He was killed while moving personnel to an evacuation point as a result of mortar shelling by the enemy near the settlement of Dachne, Pokrovsky region, Donetsk oblast.

Zakarpattia oblast

A humanitarian center has opened for residents of Kherson oblast who were forced to leave their homes due to russian aggression. This is the 14th such center in Ukraine, created to ensure that Kherson residents can receive necessary assistance, consultations and maintain contact with their community.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The implementation of the cross-border project Carpathian Forest Schools 2 is underway in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, which will open up new opportunities for environmental education for children and youth. The partners are the Galician National Nature Park and the Maramures Mountain Nature Park.

Lviv oblast

In Strii region, the family of a fallen soldier was awarded a state award (posthumously). Mykola Kohut was posthumously awarded with the Combatant’s Cross honorary badge and the Honor and Memory badge.

Rivne oblast

Rivne oblast became a venue for international rescue training. Over 80 volunteer firefighters from Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Sweden and the United Kingdom practiced emergency response.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil RMA and Life Bridge Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. This memorandum is another step towards the creation of the National Center for Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Another 80 portraits of Ukrainian Defenders who are in captivity or missing have been consecrated on the Alley of Hope in Khmelnytskyi. There are those who have already returned. Serviceman Andrii Medzhybizkyi personally removed his portrait from the Alley of Hope. Another Defender was released during the last exchange before his portrait was installed.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi said goodbye to Yurii Kozhokar, soldier of the Military Unit A4990. The soldier was killed while performing military duty in Kherson oblast.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

A British company has signed an agreement to manufacture L119 guns in Ukraine. The name of the Ukrainian defense enterprise with which the agreement was concluded is not being disclosed at this time. However, according to the document, it will receive access to technical information and support from BAE Systems, which are necessary for the manufacture of the first sample of the gun and its testing.
