It has been the 820th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 8:30 pm:   

So far, the occupiers have already carried out 79 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units. Most of the clashes took place towards Pokrovsk, almost the same number of battles were recorded towards Kupiansk.

Kharkiv oblast suffers from missile and air strikes by russian terrorists. Civilians and enterprises are suffering. With guided aerial bombs, the enemy continues to raze the city of Vovchansk and its environs to the ground. Also, in the afternoon, the areas of the settlements of Bilyi Kolodiaz, Derhachi and Vesele were affected by KABs.

Towards Kharkiv, the invaders tried to advance four times. They receive a tough rebuff. Fighting continues in the vicinities of Starytsia and Tykhe. The situation is under control. Enemy losses are being clarified.

Towards Kupyansk, the number of offensive and assault actions of the invaders increased to 20. Almost half of them are still ongoing.

Towards Lyman, six enemy attacks were repelled near Torske and Terny. The russian invaders dropped two KABs – twice enemy Su-34s hit Lyman.

Towards Kramatorsk, the total number of enemy attempts to improve the tactical position increased to eight. The situation is under control.

Towards Pokrovsk, nine clashes continue, and another 13 enemy attacks have already been repelled. The enemy continues to conduct its actions towards Kalynove and Novoselivka Persha with the support of aviation. Instead, Ukrainian soldiers are hunting the enemy in the air – a russian Su-25 attack aircraft was destroyed.

Towards Kurakhove direction, 10 combat clashes took place today. Fighting is currently underway in the Krasnohorivka area.

Towards Huliaipole, the invaders launched an airstrike in the Huliaipole area.

Towards the Dnipro river area, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to oust Ukrainian soldiers from the left bank of the Dnipro seven times.

In other directions, there are no significant changes.

According to the publishing house Vivat, in Kharkiv, the russians hit one of the largest printing complexes in Europe. As a result, there are dead and wounded. 

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, reports that 1.5K people were evacuated from two border towns of Sumy oblast. Among them are 200 children.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff, as of 8pm, the Defence Forces are repelling about 10 attacks towards Kupiansk, while fighting continues near Starytsia and Tykhe towards Kharkiv. Vovchansk and the surrounding area, Bilyi Kolodiyaz, Derhachi and Vesele, were hit by russian aerial bombs today.

The russian army is also stuck in street fighting in Vovchansk. According to Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi, the enemy has suffered significant losses in assault units there and is moving reserves from different directions in an attempt to support active assault operations. Syrskyi noted that in Lyptsi, russian troops have switched to active defence after suffering losses. There, russians are mining and shelling Ukrainian positions. Towards Kupiansk, fighting continues in the forest north of the town. Syrskyi described the situation in Kyslivka as difficult, where russia is trying to break through Ukrainian defences and reach the Oskil river.

During the day, russia shelled Kholodnohirskyi and Osnovianskyi districts of Kharkiv. The targeted building was a civilian printing house. Currently, 7 people are known to have been killed, including 5 women and 1 man, and the identity of one person is still being established. Additional examinations will be performed. All of them were civilians, all of them were employees of a well-known enterprise that printed magazines, newspapers and other materials. About 50 people were working there at the time of the hostile strikes.

The press service of the State Emergency Service reported that the number of injured as a result of the missile strikes on Kharkiv has risen to 21. The fire at the enterprise was extinguished.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov informed that Kharkiv has declared a day of mourning for those killed by russian missile strikes. On 24 May, state flags will be lowered in the city.

The press service of the regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a 65-year-old man was killed as a result of shelling of Ridkodub, Kupiansk region. Also, a 41-year-old woman was injured as a result of russian strikes on Prykolotne.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informed that an 11-year-old boy was injured by the drone explosion.  The strike happened at 2:30pm in Riasne village of Zolochiv community. The boy was hospitalised with an acubarotrauma.

The press service of the regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that russians attacked Derhachi with an aerial munition.

Yesterday at 2:02pm, russians attacked Kharkiv. As a result of the shelling of Shevchenkivskyi district by the KAB, window glazing in 3 apartment buildings, two cafes, a car wash, a petrol station, a service station building, a grocery store building, 2 trams and 11 cars were damaged. One car was destroyed.

In Kholodnohirskyi district, the KAB shelling damaged the premises of an enterprise that was not in operation. 12 people were injured.

At 6:40pm, russians attacked Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. The russian military damaged a house and a gas pipeline.

 At 8:15am, russians attacked Chuhuiv. As a result of the shelling, the first and second floors of a kindergarten were on fire. Three apartment buildings, a kindergarten building, shop premises, an office building, a pharmacy and 4 cars were damaged and 8 people injured.

Towards Kharkiv, 8 enemy attacks were repelled near Lyptsi and Starytsia villages. Fighting continues in Pletenivka-Vovchansk. The situation is controlled by the Defence Forces.

Towards Kupiansk, the defence forces repelled 22 enemy attacks. Four firefights are still ongoing in Berestove and Makiivka. The situation is under control.

A total of 10,980 people have been evacuated from Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Bohodukhiv regions.

Donetsk oblast

The RMA said that in the morning, russia shelled Selydove. At around 6am, according to preliminary data from the administration, the attack was launched from Smerch MRLs, damaging the administrative building of an industrial enterprise, with no casualties.

Anastasiia Miedviedieva, Spokeswoman of the regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported that the russian military attacked Toretsk, allegedly with KAB-250 guided missiles. As a result, a 54-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman were injured.

At night, the enemy shelled the residential sector of Kostiantynivka using Smerch multiple rocket launchers. At least 4 private houses and two gas pipelines were damaged.

The 110th separate mechanised brigade informed that th anti-aircraft gunners shot down a russian Su-25 attack aircraft. This brigade is performing combat missions in Donetsk oblast.

Yesterday russian troops killed a man and injured four other civilians. Police recorded 2648 enemy attacks over the day. 11 settlements were under attack: Hirnyk, Kurakhove, Lyman, Toretsk, Velyka Novosilka, Hostre, Pivnichne, Hannivka, Novozhelanne, Novomykolaivka and Uspenivka. 29 civilian objects were destroyed, including 17 residential buildings, a shop, a dormitory, an administrative building, transport and critical infrastructure.

In Toretsk, a civilian was killed and a private house damaged by artillery shelling.

Also russia launched an airstrike on Pivnichne, injuring three residents and damaging three houses.

The invaders shelled Lyman 5 times and as a result, one person was injured, 5 private houses, a shop, an administrative building, two gas pipelines and a civilian car damaged.

The village is located towards Avdiivka, 3km from the frontline. Over the past week, the White Angel unit together with the State Emergency Service evacuated 10 people. Previously, over a thousand people lived in Novoselivka Persha, now about 70 remain.

Stanislav Baldin, Іpokesman of the regional State Emergency Service said that elimination of the forest fire on the outskirts of Lyman has been suspended due to repeated shelling . No personnel are currently involved in firefighting. Yesterday the fire was localised on an area of 12 hectares and is currently not spreading. Rescuers in Lyman region are monitoring the situation.

The State Emergency Service of Donetsk oblast stated that the day before, russian soldiers shelled rescuers in Lyman while they were extinguishing the fire and damaged three SES vehicles. A rescue vehicle was also hit while transporting two injured residents of Pivnichne to hospital.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, added that due to the worsening security situation, educational counselling centres for school students will be suspended in Donetsk oblast. They will resume working after the situation stabilises. At the educational counselling centres, school students can get advice, establish contact with school teachers, get the necessary textbooks and report their urgent needs.

Serhii Dobriak, Head of the CMA, reported that the condition of the 10-year-old boy, who was injured as a result of russian shelling on the outskirts of Pokrovsk on 21 May, is stable, his relatives came to pick him up. Another man is in a critical condition in Dnipro hospital.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, residents of the frontline de-occupied villages regularly receive food, medicines and household goods. Despite the danger, representatives of the military administration, police and volunteers bring them everything they need several times a week. Just like yesterday, when russians attacked twice during the distribution of bread to the population. Fortunately, there were no casualties. There were 14 explosions in Novoliubivka. There were hits to previously damaged facilities and the same as in Nevske. Makiivka, Stelmakhivka and Kuzemivka also were under artillery and mortar attack.

The enemy attacks were repelled from Makiivka, Hrekivka, Nevske, Stelmakhivka, Serhiivka and Bilohorivka.

The occupation administration of Luhansk oblast has announced the collection of proposals for the strategic development plan of the so-called “lpr”. The population is offered to call the specified phone number, express their vision of development, after which the most clever ones should be registered for an appointment with a “specially trained person”, in reality who is prepared to steal other people’s ideas, not to generate their own. The plan will be collected for the next 10 years.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with ambassadors of the UNITED24 fundraising platform who arrived in Kyiv to participate in the summit on the occasion of the second anniversary of the platform’s foundation. The Head of State thanked everyone engaged in the platform for their assistance to Ukraine.

During the United24 summit in Kyiv, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the launch of a global fundraising initiative for combat robotic platforms. According to him, in two years, the United24 platform has raised $650 million in aid to Ukraine and brought together 110 countries, millions of people and companies, which has enabled the implementation of more than a hundred projects.

Bucha City Council informed that military generals from NATO countries visited Bucha. The foreign guests attended the Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, where they witnessed photo and video evidence of russian crimes committed during the occupation. They also honoured the memory of the fallen defenders on the Alley of Heroes.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, announced that Kyiv oblast had handed over more than 200 drones and additional equipment to the military of the 72nd Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians, purchased at the expense of the communities of Bucha district. Also, thanks to benefactors, the defenders received a Mitsubishi L200.

Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that charges had been filed against three members of the russian armed forces suspected of violating the laws and customs of war. The investigation established that russian servicemen of the 15th separate motorised rifle brigade illegally deprived a local resident of his liberty in February-March 2022 during the occupation of the village of Bohdanivka, Brovary region. The man was held for three days in the basement of a house. The russian soldiers used to beat the hostage, sometimes with a stick, extinguished cigarette butts on him, threatened him with murder and mocked his execution.

The 9-day veterans’ bike ride “Honouring the memory of Ukraine’s defenders” started in Uzhhorod on 15 May and finished in Kyiv on 23 May. Veterans Ivan Balashov and Anatolii Veresenko covered more than a thousand kilometres on bicycles in memory of the fallen AFU soldiers. Along the way, the men met with the families of the fallen, veterans and the public.

On the Heroes’ Day, volunteers organised a charity fair on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in support of the Ukrainian military. Activists from Sviatoshyn’s Camouflage Nets organisation raised funds to buy materials to make protective gear for soldiers on the frontline. 

Zhytomyr oblast

 The headquarters of the 95th Brigade announced the opening of the Alley of Remembrance of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces in the Botanical Garden named after the Paratrooper Heroes of Polissia National University. An exposition featuring the coat of arms of the 95th separate airborne assault brigade and the flags of the military brigades carved from an oak log was installed in the garden’s parterre. The wings of this sign bear the names of the fallen soldiers.

On the Day of Heroes of Ukraine, 37 children from Malyn and 3 children from Potiivka communities received silver personalised pendants ‘Parent’s Heart’. This is a silver heart-shaped ornament that symbolises the heart of a father – this pendant has been presented to children of Ukrainian defenders killed in the war since 2017.

Sumy oblast

border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast were shelled four times at night and in the morning. There were 16 mortar explosions. Krasnopillia (7 explosions), Esman (4 explosions), Shalyhyne (5 explosions) communities were under attack.

Sumy RMA reported that over the past day, the russian military attacked Sumy oblast 30 times – there were 139 explosions by various weapons. Mykolayivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda, Znob-Novhorodske communities were under attack.

Andrii Demchenko, Spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported that russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are active in Sumy oblast. Their purpose is to find the locations of Ukrainian units and find out how the defence is built in order to strike in the future. According to him, there are currently not enough military forces on the border with Sumy oblast to allow them to achieve any strategic goals or advance deeply if they try to cross the border of Ukraine again.

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of Sumy RMA, stated that 1,500 people, including more than 200 children, have been evacuated from Bilopillia and Vorozhba. According to him, the residents mostly stay within Sumy oblast, but people have the opportunity to travel to other regions – there are special bus and evacuation routes.

According to Volodymyr Viduev, Deputy Mayor of Bilopillia, about 6,000 people remain in Bilopillia, 7,000 in Ryzhivka, about 38 in Iskra, and about 150 in Pavlivka. 

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, russian troops attacked 4 border villages in Chernihiv oblast, with a total of 19 mortar and cannon artillery attacks recorded. Novhorod-Siverskiy, Semenivka and Snovsk communities were under enemy fire. 

Siversk operational and tactical group of troops reported that on the border with Chernihiv oblast, russian troops are mining their territories and rebuilding fortifications. The operational situation on the northern border with russia is controlled but tense. The enemy is shelling the border villages along the entire border strip. The activity of the subversive reconnaissance group remains.

The North Operational Command reported that in Chernihiv oblast, almost 2500 persons liable for military service updated their registration details between 21 May and 22 May. In TCCs and JCCs, 1,945 citizens updated their data, and 375 updated their data in ASCs.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that there were 16 attacks in Nikopol region during the day. The occupiers launched 13 kamikaze drones and shelled the area with artillery three times. The region’s center, Pokrovsk and Myrove communities were hit. A drone was sent to the territory of the State Emergency Service unit, where the windows of the fire department were smashed. An agricultural company was damaged in the area, a fire broke out at an enterprise, a dormitory of an educational institution, a private house and a truck were hit. In the afternoon, the enemy fired a missile at Dnipro region.

Artem Kryvoruchenko, an athlete from Dnipropetrovsk oblast, became the champion of a boxing tournament held in Volyn oblast. The competition “We Remember. We will not forget” was dedicated to the memory of the fallen soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

Vinnytsia oblast

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that ​​in the southeastern part of Vinnytsia oblast, Air Defense Forces conducted reconnaissance UAV operations. 

Kirovohrad oblast

Halyna Shevchenko, starosta of Znamianka Druha, Kropyvnytskyi region, Kirovohrad oblast, reported that houses damaged by shelling are being restored  in the village.  The roofs of six houses have been restored. The owners of three of the most heavily damaged houses received assistance from the city council. 

 

Poltava oblast

In Poltava, on the occasion of the Day of Marines of the Ukrainian Navy, the families of the fallen defenders were presented with state awards. These are the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree, and the Order for Courage, III degree, posthumously.

 

Filip Pronin, Head of the RMA, reported that the regional contact center in Poltava oblast has created a chatbot for the residents of Poltava oblast and IDPs to get useful information. The chatbot works around the clock. 

 

An Alley in memory of the fallen Heroes was opened in the town of Lokhvytsia. 45 banners were placed in Peremoha Park. They feature photos of the community’s fallen residents and information about their lives and military service.

Cherkasy oblast

In Zvenyhorodka, memorial plaques were unveiled to two soldiers who were killed in action – Yurii Maliarenko and Serhii Hrebenyuk

 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on 22 May, russian forces launched 462 strikes using various weapons on 7 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. As a result of the enemy shelling, 15 civilian houses were destroyed.

The russian military again conducted 2 airstrikes on Novoandriivka and twice shelled Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka by MLRS. 

The occupiers also launched 226 artillery strikes on Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne, Malynivka and Verbove.

The enemy continues to carry out massive drone attacks. The occupiers attacked Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka by drones 232 times. There were 15 reports of housing destruction.

On 23 May, russian occupation forces shelled Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia oblast by artillery. A pensioner was killed. The blast wave and shrapnel destroyed the house and nearby structures.

According to the Southern Defence Forces of Ukraine, on 22 May, there were 104 russian servicemen eliminated and the following russian weapons and equipment destroyed:

  • 9 cannons;
  • 3 mortars;
  • 24 armoured vehicles;
  • 4 reconnaissance UAVs;
  • 5 aerial photo stations;
  • 1 radar system;
  • 4 boats.

Also, the Defence Forces informed that a russian field supply point, 3 observation posts, and a Lancet UAV control point were destroyed.

On May 23, in Zaporizhzhia oblast, the Ukrainian military shot down 8 enemy drones. The State Border Guard Service reported that 2 drones were landed without detonating their explosive payloads.

According to NAEC Enerhoatom, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which is under russian occupation, once again lost connection to one of its power lines. It is noted that the NPP is currently connected only to the 330 kV Zaporizhzhia TPP – Ferroalloy power line. The connection to the 750 kV Zaporizhzhia NPP – Dniprovska power line has been lost. The russian occupiers continue to create a hazardous situation at Zaporizhzhia NPP. To prevent the worst-case scenarios, the plant must be returned to the control of its legitimate operator, Enerhoatom, as soon as possible.

Mykolaiv oblast

Based on the information provided by the press service of Mykolaiv RMA, on 22 May, the project called EU4Recovery — Empowering Communities in Ukraine, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and the European Union in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, a ceremonial opening of a new modular administrative services centre took place in Voznesensk.

Odesa oblast

Relying on the information reported by the press service of the South Air Command, on 22 May, one of the air defence units shot down a russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAV in Odesa oblast.

The enemy deployed 1 missile carrier in the Black Sea with a total salvo of 4 Kalibr missiles, so the probability of missile strikes remains high.

According to the press service of Odesa City Council, the works of Odesa sculptor Mykhailo Reva were unveiled as part of the Exploring Evil project. Through his works, the artist tells people in other countries about the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine. After the exhibition at the George Marshall Center at the Hotel Talleyrand and Mairie de Paris Centre in Paris, the exhibition moved to Berlin. It was presented at the residence of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany for a closed showing to Bundestag deputies, representatives of the German military-industrial complex and diplomats from various countries. The exhibition caused a significant resonance and drew attention to the situation in Ukraine.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that on 22 May, russian forces attacked Kherson, Antonivka, Zelenivka, Prydniprovsk, Stanislav, Bilozirka, Veletenske, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Oleksandrivka, Olhivka, Zolota Balka, Zmiivka, Tiahynka, Mykolaivka, Mykhailivka and Burhunka in Kherson oblast. Due to the russian aggression, 2 people were injured. As a result of the russian shelling, 5 private houses were damaged. The occupation forces targeted a cell tower, an industrial enterprise and a private car.

Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, Head of the Department of Internal and Information Policy of Kherson RMA, informed that on 23 May, around 4am, the occupation forces dropped 5 KABs on Ivanivka and 3 KABs on Veletenske in Kherson oblast. There were no casualties or injuries reported.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, said that on 22 May, the russians targeted a 5-story building in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. As a result of this shelling, 5 people were injured, including a 15-year-old boy. He sustained a mine-blast injury and minor back wounds and is currently in moderate condition.

In the operational zone of Southern Defence Forces, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 enemy assaults on the left bank of the Dnipro in Kherson oblast and 5 assaults towards Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia oblast.

The Yellow Ribbon movement detected the transfer of grain containers to the Republic of Karelia. According to the movement, these containers belong to Chinese and Kazakh logistics companies, which act as a buffer zone to bypass sanctions and supply materials from other countries. The occupiers are using the stolen grain from Ukraine as “currency” to pay for the import of sanctioned goods.

Volyn oblast

Volyn oblast became a partner oblast of the UCORD project, Cohesion and Regional Development of Ukraine Swiss-Ukrainian. Volyn Regional Development Agency and UCORD signed a four-way memorandum of cooperation.

Zakarpattia oblast

Myroslav Biletskyi, First Deputy Head of the RMA, visited positions of fighters of the Birds of Magiar Air Reconnaissance Unit and handed over 16 FPV hexacopters to them thanks to contributions from Khust HalfMarathon 2024 participants.

Uzhhorod City Council allocated UAH 5m to the Military Unit A 1778, of which UAH 4m for UAVs and UAH 1m for repairs and the purchase of spare parts for automotive equipment. In general, since the beginning of this year, the city council has allocated UAH 83,267m from the budget of Uzhhorod City Territorial Community to support the defence and security forces.

Mykola Bahirov, military chaplain of the Military Unit A4447, junior lieutenant of the chaplain service, thanked Uzhgorod City Council for the support of the 33rd Separate Brigade and handed over the flag with the signatures of the commander and defenders.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The oblast sent 7 drones to the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigades, and thermal imaging sights with a working range of over 2.5 km to the 50th Regiment named after Semen Vysochan total worth over UAH 1,3m thanks to the regional budget as part of targeted programs to support the military formations of the oblast.

Lviv oblast

Volunteers will plant a new forest instead of the one that burned down in Zolochiv region due to the fall of an enemy Shaheed drone. About a hectare of young pine plantations was destroyed by a forest fire caused by the fall of the debris of an enemy combat drone that tried to attack Lviv oblast on the night of 20 May.

A mural commemorating defender of Ukraine Taras Bereziuk was opened in Lviv. The mural was created by artist Oleksandr Priymak (pseudonym Sasha Pes). Taras Bereziuk served in the 24th Separate Mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the West Operational Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vitalii Pavliuchenko, senior gunner-operator of the 3rd Mechanised Department, the 1st Mechanised Platoon, the 1st Mechanised Company, the 1st Mechanised Battalion, was posthumously awarded the III degree For Courage Order. The award was presented to the wife of the fallen serviceman. He was killed on 1 September, 2023 near the settlement of Klishchiivka, Donetsk oblast.

Rivne oblast

Rivne was visited for the 1st time by Mr. Michael Brodskyi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine. Veniamin Blonarovych, co-chairman of the Ukrainian-Israeli society, who helped in organising this meeting, also visited the city.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil, NEZLAMNI Memorial Alley was opened on the occasion of the Day of Heroes of Ukraine. It was created as a sign of honour to the brave Ukrainian defenders who protected independence and statehood at the cost of their lives.

Ternopil oblast sent 60 FPV drones to the Special Operations Forces thanks to the regional budget.

In Zbarazh, a memorial stele was installed to the fallen Heroes of Ukraine, who are graduates of Ternopil Vocational College with enhanced military and physical training. 19 college graduates were killed in the war against the russian federation.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Yevhen Nikitin, USAID consultant on energy security, and representatives of the working group developing a regional program on enhancement of energy efficiency of the oblast. They discussed topical issues of the region’s energy security in the context of the war with russia, ways to strengthen it, and prospects for improving energy efficiency.

Chernivtsi oblast

An official delegation from Swabia (Germany), led by Martin Seiler, President of the General Council of Deputies of this region, visited the RMA. The visit of the German partners took place within the framework of the long-term partnership program of fruitful cooperation between Chernivtsi oblast and Swabia.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

London sent over 100 cars to Ukraine as part of the recycling program, about half of them have already been delivered. British Ukrainian Aid, which operates the scheme in partnership with Transport for London, said a further 13 vehicles are on their way to Ukraine, where they will be used for medical and humanitarian purposes.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the President’s Office, held a phone conversation with Jake Sullivan, US President’s National Security Adviser, as part of the ongoing dialogue. They discussed the situation at the front and the importance of strengthening air defence with modern Western systems.

Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, met with Spyridon Lambridis, Special Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic for Ukraine. They agreed to complete negotiations on the preparation of a bilateral security agreement so that Ukraine and Greece could conclude it in the near future.

Britain‘s defence minister accused China of providing russia with lethal weapons for use in the war against Ukraine. According to Grant Shapps, US and British military intelligence have evidence that lethal aid is already flowing or will flow from China to russia, and then to the battlefield in Ukraine.

Michael McCall, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, stated that the US Congress continues trying to convince the Biden administration to allow Ukraine to strike military facilities inside russia.

Pawel Wronsky, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, reported that the country is discussing the possibility of shooting down russian missiles over western regions of Ukraine.

Norway will ban the entry of russian tourists from May 29. In addition, the police will be able to deport citizens of the russian federation who are subject to this rule.
