It has been the 788th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 21 April, there were 65 tactical engagements. 

The enemy launched a total of 4 missile and 37 air strikes, 49 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, due to russian terrorist attacks civilians were killed and wounded. Residential apartment blocks and private houses, as well as other infrastructure, were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of an offensive group formed were found. 

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the russian areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. More than 10 settlements, including Stepok, Turia, (Chernihiv oblast), Stara Huta (Sumy oblast), Veterynarne, Hatyshche, and Pletenivka (Kharkiv oblast) came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the russian army conducted no offensives. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Kotliarivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 9 attacks in the vicinity of Terny (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched airstrike in the vicinities of Nevs’ke (Luhansk oblast), Novosadove, and Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, and Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 13 attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Verkhnokamianske, Bohdanivka (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary, using air attacks, attempted to improve its tactical position. Around 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, and Stupochky (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 9 attacks in the vicinities of Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, using air attacks, made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Oleksandropil, Soloviove, Semenivka, and Netailove (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, and Umanske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodyane and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders made 15 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Kostyantynivka, Katerynivka, Antonivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maksymilianivka, Kostiantynivka, Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast) were shelled.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy, with air support, launched 3 attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinities of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast) and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Chervone, Novodanylivka, and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy does not abandon its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. In particular during the day of April 21, the invaders executed 1 unsuccessful attack on positions of the Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). They launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Vesele (Kherson oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Ivanivka, Lvove, Olhivka, and Tokarivka (Kherson oblast).

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 9 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment. Moreover, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 2 Kh-59 guided air-launched missiles.

The Ukrainian Missile Forces hit 1x concentration of russian troops.


Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, announces that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has caused UAH 2.4tn in environmental damage to Ukraine. He also notes that strikes on the energy sector affect not only people’s lives and infrastructure, but also the environment.

Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, Spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, informs that the Ukrainian Navy confirms the defeat of a russian ship in Sevastopol. This ship was not a combat one, but it served the Russian Black Sea Fleet and was still operational. 

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, Ukraine provided emergency energy assistance to Poland in the amount of 1600 MWh. The needs of consumers in Ukraine are covered by their own generation and imports of electricity.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff said in the evening report that there were no assault actions towards Kupiansk over the day. More than 13 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under artillery and mortar attacks.

Olena Shuliak, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Committee on the Organisation of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, informed that Kharkiv oblast is a “sad leader” in the number of applications for damaged and destroyed housing. 37% of applications for yeVidnovlennia for damaged housing are from this oblast.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy reported that 260,000 customers in Kharkiv oblast are without power due to network restrictions. In addition, 650 consumers in the oblast are disconnected from gas supply due to damaged networks.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov during a briefing after a meeting with a foreign delegation stated that in Kharkiv, the power outage schedules are not being met due to the overload of the energy system and energy shortages. According to him, the city needs equipment that is not produced in Ukraine to get through the next heating season and have a stable electricity supply.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the damaged housing and energy infrastructure of Kharkiv was examined together with Oleksandr Kubrakov, Vice Prime Minister of Restoration, Olena Shuliak, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Regional Development, a delegation of ambassadors from Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, France and the UN.

The day before, at 2:20pm, Industrialnyi district was hit. The rocket attack destroyed a garage and damaged 14 others.

About 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered artillery and mortar attacks yesterday: Stepova Novoselivka, Ivanivka, Kotliarivka and others. Synkivka, Slobozhanske, Peremoha, Neskuchne and Kozacha Lopan were hit by airstrikes.

At 6:53pm, Prylipka village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region, was targeted. As a result, a private house was on fire.

At 6:22pm, Peremoha village of Zolochiv community, Bohodukhiv region, was damaged. A KAB bomb hit the territory of an inactive farm. A 55-year-old man was rescued from the rubble of the building and later hospitalised.

At 5:35pm, Lyptsi village of Lyptsi community, Kharkiv region, suffered a hostile attack. As a result, a private house was damaged.

At 1:55pm, two private houses were under MRLs attack in Baranivka village, Bohodukhiv region.

At 9:45am, a tractor of one of the military companies hit a Butterfly mine in Turove village of Zolochiv community, Bohodukhiv region. There were no casualties.

On 20 April, at 8:15am, russian troops shelled a residential area in Vovchansk using an UMP munition. As a result, the third entrance to an apartment building and a private house were destroyed. A 50-year-old and an 83-year-old man were killed. A 61-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were injured.

Yesterday the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions towards Kupiansk.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 45.36 hectares of mines and destroyed 370 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Ukrainian troops repelled 99 russian attacks on the frontlines of Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts on 20 April. Most of the attacks were towards Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka.

Volodymyr Cherniak, an officer of the Rubizh brigade of the National Guard, reported that russian troops managed to gain a foothold in Bohdanivka near Chasiv Yar. There is fighting on the outskirts of Chasiv Yar and the russian army is hundreds of metres away from the town.

Selydove CMA reported that around 8:30am on 21 April, russian troops attacked Ukrainsk, killing one person and injuring four.

Also at about 6:40am, the russian military attacked Tsukuryne by an X-31P anti-radar missile. There were no casualties.

The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of 21 April is as follows:

Towards Pokrovsk, one person was injured in Krasnohorivka and another in Ocheretyne. A two-storey building was damaged in Tsukuryne of Selydove community and Ukrainsk shelled. In Kurakhove community, Kurakhove, Kurakhivka, Hostre and Kostiantynopilske were under attack.

Towards Kramatorsk, in Lyman community, Ivanivka, Terny, Yampil and Yampolivka were shelled. In Kostiantynivka, 8 private houses, 2 non-residential buildings and an infrastructure facility were damaged, 2 private houses in Dyliivka destroyed, 2 houses and an infrastructure facility in Viroliubivka, and a house in Mykolaivka damaged.

Towards Bakhmut, a house was damaged in Toretsk. In Chasiv Yar community, 5 private houses, an apartment building and 4 outbuildings were damaged. A non-residential building was damaged in Siversk.

In total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 14 times over a day. 71 people, including 6 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informed that yesterday russians injured two civilians: in Krasnohorivka and Ocheretyne.

Residents of Donetsk oblast have received over 583 tonnes of charitable aid this week. Food, hygiene kits and generators were delivered to the communities of Donetsk oblast. The most urgently needed items were delivered to pensioners and families with children.

Luhansk oblast

The enemy became more active towards Kupiansk. With air support, russians tried to test our defences twice but without success. The invaders have no success in Bilohorivka, although they storm it almost every day.

The enemy launched artillery and mortar attacks on Stelmakhivka and Hrekivka.

Kuzemivka, Makiivka and Nevske suffered from mortar attacks and drones.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, while the invaders report about achievements in the healthcare sector, residents of the so-called “lpr” prove the opposite. The level of medical care is becoming catastrophically low even in Luhansk. Patients are prescribed medicines that are not supplied to the occupied territory of Luhansk oblast. They cannot be purchased in a pharmacy even if you have a lot of money. Only orders from the russian federation and long waiting times are possible.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, confirmed that at the checkpoints around Sievierodonetsk, checks of people trying to leave or return to the city have been intensified. They thoroughly checked documents, personal belongings and suitcases. They stop selectively because some transporters have russian privileges..

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

General Michael Viggers Hildgaard, the Danish Defence Commander, met with Oleksandr Syrskyi, the AFU Commander-in-Chief, during his visit to Kyiv. They discussed the urgent AFU needs in various areas and further support possibilities for Ukraine by the Danish government.

The city council informed that the artillery shell found in Irpin during the railway tracks repair was removed by the Municipal Guard sappers and handed over to law enforcement.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, said that Kharkiv oblast received two more powerful generators from Kyiv oblast. In total, Kyiv oblast has already delivered nearly 130 generators of various capacities to the oblast, which suffers from constant russian attacks. Charging stations, power banks, fuel, etc. were sent to the districts and communities in addition to generators.

An action in support of the captives was held in Kyiv. Relatives and friends gathered in Podil district of the city with placards calling for the return of all the POWs. More than 200 people attended the rally.

The first Safety Classroom was opened in Kyiv oblast at the fire and rescue station in Chabany village. The first lesson in the newly created interactive space was conducted by a team from Boyarka’s Harmony Academic Lyceum, which showed their younger colleagues from Novosilkovo’s Erudite a tutorial. The topic of the lesson included fire safety rules at home and during recreation, safety rules for detecting explosive objects, and actions during an air raid alert.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that a charity race and auction to raise funds for the drone purchase for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine was held on Kyiv’s Trukhaniv Island. According to him, the total amount raised was over UAH 3m. 

Zhytomyr oblast

On 20 April, a book about female servicewomen, “This is She Who is Fighting”, was presented in Zhytomyr. The publication includes the stories of 25 women from different Ukrainian cities who defend the country. The book’s protagonists are combat medics, aerial reconnaissance women, armoured personnel carrier drivers, machine gunners, and public figures.

A sports and patriotic race “Running for the Victory of Ukraine” was held in Malyn to support the AFU. The race was attended by 380 participants, the oldest being 75 years old and the youngest 4. This year, guests from the Czech Republic, members of the Sokil association, also joined the race.

Sumy oblast

 At night and in the morning, russians attacked Sumy oblast border 3 times with 11 artillery explosions recorded. Krasnopillia (7 explosions) and Seredyna-Buda (4 explosions) communities were shelled.

The russian military shelled Sumy oblast 54 times. 13 communities were attacked: Mykolaivka, Khotin, Myropillia, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Shalyhyne, Esman, Shostka, Seredyna-Buda, Znob-Novgorodske.

Mykola Noha, Mayor of Shostka, informed that on the evening of 20 April, the russian army attacked civilian infrastructure of Shostka with missiles. A 29-year-old man wounded as a result of the shelling was hospitalised. 

The regional police reported that one person was wounded as a result of attacks on Khotyn community on 20 April. A private house and a dormitory building of the Khotyn Professional Agricultural Lyceum were damaged. The russian shelling also damaged two private houses in Myropillia community, 2 in Bilopillia community, 2 in Velyka Pysarivka community, and one private house in Seredyna-Buda community.

In total, russians attacked Chernihiv and Sumy oblast borders 68 times. Vadym Misnyk, spokesperson for the North Joint Task Force, said that the enemy is using the entire weapons arsenal at its disposal from mortars and cannon artillery to MLRS, FPV drones, attack UAVs, and airstrikes. According to the spokesperson, the activity of russian subversive reconnaissance groups in Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts continues, but tactically decreases due to seasonal changes. Additional powerful defence lanes are built deep into Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts borders.

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of Sumy RMA, informed that 49 generators of various capacities, 112 energy storage devices (power banks, batteries, mobile batteries, battery-powered lanterns), as well as diesel and petrol, were transferred to the communities of Kharkiv oblast as part of the Give Light to Kharkiv campaign.

Chernihiv oblast

The russian troops shelled 4 border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novgorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnia. They were shooting in the direction of eight villages and Semenivka town. According to the State Border Guard Service, there were 62 attacks with mortars, cannon artillery, MLRS, and a Lancet UAV. A residential building and a gas pipeline were damaged in Semenivka.

Chernihiv oblast SSU reported that two russian soldiers, 42-year-old rifleman Nikolai Budayev and 29-year-old mechanic driver Faizybek Nematov, were sentenced to 12 years in prison in absentia for abusing residents of village of Ivanivka in Chernihiv oblast. The investigation concluded that in March 2022, the russian servicemen entered one of the households in Ivanivka village. They opened fire with assault rifles and threatened to shoot the minor children and the husband, forcing the mother to go down to the basement. The family managed to escape from the house and then hid in another house in the village.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 5 times launching 2 kamikaze drones and firing 3 times with artillery. They attacked Nikopol itself, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities. The shelling damaged a multi-storey building in the regional centre, and 5 private houses, 2 outbuildings and 2 greenhouses in Chervonohryhorivka community were damaged. 

During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region 8 times. A 47-year-old woman was injured in the region’s center. She was hospitalized in moderate condition and received all necessary assistance. 5 private houses, 8 outbuildings were damaged, one of them was completely destroyed and an administrative building was also hit. According to the updated information, 12 houses, 6 outbuildings, three greenhouses and more than a dozen solar panels were damaged in the night shelling of Chervonohryhorivka community.

The military in Dnipro have been fitted with sports prostheses that will allow them to run, play basketball, engage in other activities and even use them at the frontline. This is organized by the participants of the U+ System rehabilitation project. 

Vinnytsia oblast

National Guard combat medic Bohdan Hyzha from Koziatyn, Vinnytsia region, was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order. The defender, nicknamed Zhuha, serves in the 14th Brigade of the Chervona Kalyna Special Forces.

The Ukrainian Free-Fight Championship among juniors and adults, as well as an open tournament among young men, is taking place in Vinnytsia. The events are dedicated to the memory of the fallen Vinnytsia defender Denys Babii, nicknamed Train.

Cherkasy oblast

The reconstruction of the entrance destroyed by a russian missile has begun in Uman. They started installing concrete blocks. Last year, one of the missiles hit a nine-story building in the city. The destroyed entrance killed 24 people, including six children.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Based on information provided by Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, on 20 April, occupiers launched 390 strikes on 7 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with a missile, conducted 2 aviation strikes on Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka. Also, 124 UAVs targeted Zaporizhzhia, Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 4 MLRS strikes hit Huliaipole and Robotyne. 259 artillery strikes were inflicted on the territory of Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne and Malynivka. There were 6 reports of residential destruction.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, towards Orikhiv, with aviation support, the enemy attacked our defenders’ positions 4 times in the area of Staromaiorsk in Donetsk oblast and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Referring to the National Guard of Ukraine, towards Zaporizhzhia, the fighters of the 3rd Assault Detachment of the Special Operations Center Omega of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed a russian assault detachment and equipment.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMA reported that on 20 April, at 10:20am, enemy forces launched a strike with a Lancet UAV on the open territory of Radisniy Sad community. Also, at 11am, there was enemy artillery shelling in Solonchaky village in Kutsurub community, damaging residential buildings. Furthermore, at 2:15pm, the enemy conducted mortar shelling in the waters of Ochakiv community. There were no casualties reported.

Based on the information provided by the press service of the Nibulon company, recently, Mykolaiv was visited by Michaël ROUX, French Ambassador for the Black Sea, and representatives of the company discussed the issue of the blocked fleet and the necessity of its release to increase the export potential of the Danube.

Odesa oblast

Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa RMA, reported that the enemy continues targeted missile strikes. At noon, a ballistic missile hit Odesa oblast, targeting once again the transport and logistics infrastructure near the port. The explosion and debris from the missile damaged private houses, and the ceiling of one of them collapsed. Hay caught fire in a private yard. Local authorities confirmed that 4 people were injured as a result of the missile strike: 3 men and 1 woman.

Based on the information provided by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa oblast on 21 April, in Odesa oblast, a fire has been raging for the 3rd consecutive day at an agro-industrial terminal, which came under russian shelling on 19 April. Rescue teams continue to extinguish the aftermath of the russian strike on the infrastructure. Magirus Wolf R1 robots have been deployed for the cleanup efforts.

According to Odesa RMA and City Council, a delegation from Kenya, comprising representatives from the trade, agriculture, economics and IT sectors of the country, arrived in Odesa. The main topics of discussion include the operation of the Ukrainian grain corridor, the planting campaign, land reclamation, and the development of the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex. Military actions have significantly affected the export of Ukrainian grain to African countries. The purpose of the Kenyan delegation’s visit is to strengthen partnership relations in new conditions and express support for Ukraine from Kenya and other African countries, which are currently experiencing the full consequences of the war due to food shortages.

Kherson oblast

Over the past day and last night, the russian military used artillery, mortars, MLRS, UAVs and aerial bombs. Also, a ballistic missile strike was carried out. The Police Department of Kherson oblast reported that as a result of the shelling, 2 police officers and an elderly woman were injured; residential buildings, vehicles, medical facilities, educational institutions, a café, agricultural enterprise facilities and gas pipelines damaged.

Later, Kherson RMA reported another casualty from the shelling. The woman was diagnosed with blast injuries and concussion.

In Kherson oblast, the following areas were under enemy attack: the regional center, Antonivka, Bilozirka, Stanislav, Ponyativka, Chornobaivka, Komyshany and Inzhenerne. In the territory of Beryslav region, the enemy attacked Sablukivka, Novoberyslav, Lvove, Olhivka, Tyahinka, Novokayiry, Zolota Balka and the regional center. russian forces also shelled Kozatske and Vesele of Kakhovka region.

This morning, the occupying army dropped 2 guided aerial bombs on a settlement, resulting in the collapse of the entrance of a five-story building. Additionally, one residential building caught fire as a result of the bombing.

On the left bank of the Dnipro River, in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast, the enemy attempted 3 assaults near Krynky during the night. After suffering losses, they retreated to their original positions.

The Southern Defence Forces continue to inflict fire damage on enemy positions, fire positions and rear areas. Confirmed enemy losses amounted to 128 occupiers and 44 units of weaponry and military equipment.

Volunteers from the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) visited Kherson and Antonivka, distributing family kits to residents. The humanitarian boxes contain long-lasting food items such as flour, pasta, sugar, cereals, canned meat, condensed milk, biscuits etc. In Antonivka, generators were also provided alongside the food kits.

Farmers in Bilozirka community received plant protection materials. Agriculturalists in Kherson oblast have suffered significant losses during the occupation. Earlier, donors assisted Bilozirka farmers with sunflower seeds for planting.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that the community sent 10 DartBee 7 quadcopters with appropriate batteries and 2 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo quadcopters to the A1008 military unit.

Zakarpattia oblast

In Uzhhorod, the military band of the 194th pontoon-bridge brigade performed a charity concert. Participants arrived from the front line 2 months ago, and are now on a charity tour of Ukrainian cities. According to representatives of the Kryla Yanholiv NGO, the funds raised will be donated to purchase 5 EW stations for Zakarpattia brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council continues to support relatives of fallen Heroes and missing. 9 people from such families will receive payments in the amount of UAH 700,000. In 2024, such assistance was approved for 33 relatives in the amount of UAH 2,45m. Another 20 people will receive monthly payments in the amount of the living wage. In 2024, 535 people will receive such assistance. Also, UAH 60,000 was allocated from the budget for gravestone monuments to 11 Heroes. Since the beginning of the year, such assistance has been allocated to 29 people in the amount of UAH 1,74m.

Lviv oblast

Before the Environment Day, the Forests of Defenders of Ukraine rally was held in Lviv oblast within the framework of the global eco-initiative Greening of the Planet and the President’s Program Green Country, with the support of the State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine. The event took place on the live broadcast of the telethon, which united participants from Ukraine and the world. 39,000 saplings of oak, larch and European spruce were planted in 14 locations. In addition to the key goal of greening the planet, the campaign aims to honour the memory of soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine with the symbolic planting of trees.

Horodotsk community sent 9 drones, namely 4 Mavic 3T, 2 Fly More Combo and 3 Mavic 3 Pro, worth UAH 1.2m, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

15 Safety Classrooms were opened in Zolochiv community. A new classroom has started working for students of Ponikovytskyi institution. The premises are divided into special zones dedicated to fire and mine hazards, civil defence and first aid. The classroom is equipped with visual materials, educational mock-ups of dangerous objects, and rescuers’ equipment. Also, children will be able to play thematic games and learn with the help of informative posters and guides.

Rivne oblast

Rivne Puppet Theater raised over UAH 67,000, which was used to buy an ambulance for a colleague. The gathering was attended by: theatre workers, spectators, as well as the OT VINTA Ukrainian rock band. After retrofitting, the ambulance will be sent to the front.

In Rivne, a seminar called Psychological Support for Children During War was held, which is designed to strengthen psychological support for children whose relatives are currently in the ranks of the Armed Forces, were captured, went missing, were injured or killed while performing a combat mission. It was jointly organised by Rivne Development Agency and the Rokada CF.

Ternopil oblast

Fighters of the 16th Separate Battalion received a generator and a starlink from Serhii Nadal, Head of Ternopil City Council.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Another meeting of the executive committee was held in Khmelnytskyi, at which 640 children received the status of a child affected by hostilities and armed conflicts.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with General Volodymyr Shvediuk, newly appointed Commander of the West Operational Command. They discussed primary challenges facing the Ukrainian military and tasks of the rear areas, the need for material and technical support of the military on the front lines.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The House of Representatives of the US Congress approved the draft law on aid to Ukraine. The total amount of assistance is almost $61bn. The next step is approval of the bill in the Senate. The US House of Representatives also passed a draft law on the use of frozen russian assets for Ukraine. After voting for the draft law on aid to Ukraine, the congressmen raised Ukrainian flags.

Lithuania sent another batch of military aid to Ukraine in the form of a disassembled L-39ZA Albatros light attack aircraft, which is used for training fighter jets and pilot training in difficult weather conditions.

Petr Fiala, Czech Prime Minister, announced that the country has already contracted over 180,000 shells for Ukraine. He said that the Czech initiative is currently trying to obtain another 300,000 shells. According to him, about 20 countries joined the initiative.

Germany offered Ukraine equipment from its own closed TPPs to replace facilities damaged by russian strikes. Previously, such an offer also came from Lithuania.

Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, plans to personally warn China about the tough sanctions that the US is ready to introduce in response to the supply of dual-use technologies to moscow. These are chips and engines that russian terrorists use for cruise missiles. Anthony Blinken is visiting Shanghai and Beijing on 24–26 April.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Robert Habek, Vice-Chancellor, Federal Minister of Economy and Climate Protection of Germany. They discussed the escalation of russian missile attacks against Ukraine and the need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence with modern Western-made systems.

Henry Marsh, leading British neurosurgeon, helps weave camouflage nets in Lviv. Marsh is the author of And Finally, Diaries of a Neurosurgeon and Stories of Life, Death and Neurosurgery bestsellers. During the last 30 years, he visited Ukraine to provide free consultations in the neurosurgical department of Lviv Children’s Clinical Hospital, and gave lectures at Ukrainian universities. He participated in the Revolution of Dignity, and now actively supports Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Bomb shelter maps have appeared on the streets of Venice – this is part of the campaign of the Ukrainian Pavilion at this year’s Venice Biennale. The maps were hung on the streets of the city, distributed in the form of booklets, and also published online. The purpose of the campaign is to remind everyone that war is closer than it seems.
