It has been the 789th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

During the day of 22 April, there were 62x tactical engagements.

The enemy launched a total of 4x missiles and 58x air strikes, 100x MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements.

Volyn and Polissia axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the russian areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. More than 10x settlements, including Oleksiivka, Myropilske, Stepok (Sumy oblast) came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Kupiansk and Lyman axes: the adversary conducted no offensives. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Senkove (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kotliarivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 14x attacks in the vicinities of Novoiehorivka, Serebrianka forestry (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Torske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12x attacks in the vicinities of Zolotarivka, Spirne, Vyimka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary attempted to improve its tactical position. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast). Around 20x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 10x attacks in the vicinities of Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka and Netailove (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy, using air attacks, made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The adversary launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Novokalynove, Berdychi, Oleksandropil, Semenivka, Illinka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Umanske (Donetsk oblast).

Novopavlivka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders made 12x attempts to breach Ukrainian defence. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Kostiantynivka, Novomykhailivka and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Orikhiv axis: the enemy, with air support, launched 1x attack on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Mala Tokmachka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 15x settlements, including Chervone, Novodanylivka, Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Kherson axis: the enemy does not abandon its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. In particular during the day of 22 April, the invaders executed 4x unsuccessful attacks on positions of the Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Novoberyslav and Beryslav (Kherson oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Ivanivka, Lvove, Olhivka, Tokarivka (Kherson oblast).

During the day of April 22, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 2x anti-aircraft missile systems, 13x concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment of the russian occupiers.

The Ukrainian Missile Forces hit 1x command post, 2x air defence systems, 1x concentration of russian troops.

Over the two years of the large-scale invasion, russia has destroyed 3m hectares of Ukrainian forests. The terrorist country has caused catastrophic damage to the Ukrainian environment with explosive ordnance contaminating 174,000 sq km of Ukraine’s territory, which is equal to the total area of Austria and Hungary. 3m hectares of Ukrainian forests have been affected by the war, which is practically the size of Moldova. As a result of the russian terrorist attack on Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, 620 sq km were flooded, the area of three cities such as Washington. Also russian aggression has caused the emission of 150m tonnes of greenhouse gases, the same as the entire Bulgaria over three years. 514 Ukrainian nature reserve sites are occupied, including 10 national parks, 8 nature reserves and 2 biosphere reserves. In total, the Ukrainian environment has suffered damage worth more than $63bn, which is more than Estonia’s GDP.

Ukraine has launched a pilot project for dental prosthetics for combat veterans, people with war-related disabilities and servicemen. The state compensates medical institutions for treatment costs through the National Health Service of Ukraine. According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution, the service will be available to combatants, people with war-related disabilities and military personnel.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said that between 4 and 5pm, the enemy attacked three settlements in the oblast. In Vovchansk, a guided aerial bomb hit the territory of an inactive meat processing plant. In Slobozhanske village, Kharkiv region, an open area was hit. In Derhachi, an attack also hit an open area.  The invaders targeted a television infrastructure facility in Kharkiv. During the alarm, the employees were in a shelter. There were no casualties.

Yesterday about 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks: Veterynarne, Hatyshche, Pletenivka and others. Kharkiv was hit by airstrikes.

A 19-year-old civilian was injured as a result of a rocket attack on Kharkiv at 9pm.

At 3:31pm, a house was damaged in Vovchansk as a result of a hostile MRLs attack.

Yesterday the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions towards Kupiansk

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 11.85 hectares of territory and destroyed 127 explosive ordnance.

More than 300 apartments and houses were purchased in Kharkiv oblast under the yeVidnovlennia government programme. Residents of the oblast’s communities purchased 246 apartments and 71 private houses in the oblast. Most of them were purchased in Chuhuiv community and Kharkiv. Compensation recipients purchased more than 30 residential properties in other oblasts: most of them in Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava. Under the government programme, 18,000 people received UAH 1.65bn in compensation for housing repairs.

Donetsk oblast

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that during the day, the russian military attacked Krasnohorivka. A 70-year-old woman was killed. Two other settlements were also under attack.

Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that in the morning the russian army also shelled Novooleksandrivka village of Pokrovsk region, killing a 63-year-old resident.

At night and in the morning, russian troops attacked three settlements and injured one person.

A resident of Selydove was injured, 4 apartment buildings and an educational institution damaged as a result of a S-300 missile strike.

The invaders shelled Ukrainsk by S-300 and UMPB D-30SM bombs, damaging an industrial facility.

Two more S-300 missiles were launched at Novohrodivka, damaging an enterprise.

Over the past day, the police recorded 1,832 shellings in the region. 4 settlements were under attack: the cities of Kostyantynivka, Ukrainian, the village of Tsukuryne, and the village of Progress. 12 civilian objects were damaged – 7 residential buildings, utility buildings, and a garage.

The Ukrainian occupiers fired from Smerch MLRS – killing a civilian and wounding four others. 6 apartment buildings were destroyed.

Russia hit the village of Progress with an aerial bomb “RBK-500” with cluster munitions. A civilian was injured, 4 outbuildings and a garage were damaged.

In Tsukurino, an apartment building was damaged as a result of a Kh-31P anti-radar missile hit.

The enemy dropped a KAB-250 aerial bomb on Kostyantynivka, which did not explode.

The police evacuated 10 people from Ocheretyny, which is on the front line, in a week. Among the rescued are two wounded and a 101-year-old woman.

White Angel Street appeared in Kostyantynivka. One of the city’s longest streets, International, was renamed in honor of the “White Angel” police unit, which saves people near the front. This name was proposed by residents during a public discussion.

Units of the 217th Parachute Regiment of the Soviet Union are fighting against the Ukrainian military near Chasovoy Yar, said Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesman for the “Khortytsia” OSUV. According to him, on the morning of April 22, the situation in the defense of the city is difficult, but under control, there are no Russian troops in the city.

In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, a woman is forced to spend the night in the open air. She lives on the territory of an abandoned kindergarten, next to the graves of her parents, who were not reburied by the occupiers, the Mariupol City Council reports.

Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Fedorov said that Makiivka bonds, named after the temporarily occupied city in Donetsk oblast, are now available in Diia. This is the first city in Donetsk oblast to issue bonds in its honour.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, enemy aircraft attacked Nevske yesterday. The invaders launched another airstrike on Bilohorivka. Fighting continued there and in Serebrianka forestry. The invaders shelled Stelmakhivka, Hrekivka and Kuzemivka by artillery and mortars.

Residents of Novoliubivka, Nevske and Makiivka received 33 food parcels, one per family. The packages were delivered by volunteers the day before.

In occupied Sievierodonetsk, cases of disappearance of contractors or lack of funds are becoming more frequent. Hired workers are told about the latter when a certain part of the work is completed. The situation is the same in neighbouring Rubizhne, but the restoration has only recently begun there. People are forced to work not for money but for humanitarian aid.

The number of complaints about the work of the emergency medical service in the occupied territory is increasing. The reasons for the delayed departure are the lack of staff and the lack of fuel. In frontline settlements, it is also impossible to call the service quickly due to the lack of mobile communication. In Alchevsk, the connection is fine. However, the teams are increasingly lacking the necessary medicines required for emergency assistance.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv has detained a russian who was preparing missile and drone attacks on the AFU air defence bases, in particular on NASAMS and Patriot air defence systems. According to SBU, the offender arrived in Ukraine to carry out enemy instructions on the eve of 24 February 2022 as a seller of household, fuel, and lubricant chemicals. Disguised as a commercial traveller, he moved around Kyiv and Cherkasy oblasts, trying to locate air defence batteries and radar stations.

Experts of the Specialised Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv oblast are investigating the environmental damage caused by the russian missile attack on the Trypilska thermal power plant on 11 April 2024. The general prosecutor’s office reported that the russian terrorist attack caused a large-scale fire at the location and transformer oil leakage. To determine the environmental impact extent, an additional inspection of the affected area was conducted and soil samples were taken for laboratory testing. 

A bipartisan delegation of U.S. congressmen arrived in Kyiv to show their unwavering support for Ukraine, with Tom Kean, Bill Keating, Madeleine Dean, and Nathaniel Moran among the members.

A delegation from Hamburg, led by Mayor Peter Cencher, arrived in Kyiv. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the German partners had donated buses and ambulances to Ukraine. According to Klitschko, Hamburg became the capital’s sister city in April 2022. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Hamburg has provided Kyiv with a large amount of humanitarian aid and sheltered 45,000 Ukrainians.

The Kyiv RMA reported that a new outpatient clinic was opened in the Fastiv community for residents of Motovylivka headman district. The healthcare facility is equipped with a car to provide emergency medical care and palliative care to people with limited mobility. The project was implemented as part of the Affordable Healthcare state program at the expense of the state budget on a co-financing basis.

According to the Bucha City Council, the community organises legal consultations for IDPs and those affected by the hostilities. Free consultations will be offered by lawyers of the Right to Protection charity fund on Fridays from 26 April.

The Bucha City Council also reported that Bo Tengberg, a film director from Denmark, visited Bucha community. The guest inspected the places where russian troops were stationed during the full-scale invasion and witnessed the photographic evidence of russian crimes. Residents told him about the horrors of the occupation and the victims among the civilian population.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr oblast, 41 healthcare facilities damaged by russian shelling have already been restored. According to the RMA, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the russian military has damaged a total of 44 healthcare facilities in the oblast, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, maternity hospitals, and polyclinics.

The RMA reported that 10 economic profiles of Zhytomyr Oblast’s territorial communities developed with the support of the USAID GOVERLA Project were presented in Zhytomyr. The NGO “Modern Format” together with the assisting experts helped communities in developing local economic development programmes for economic recovery under the grant.

A series of safety lectures organised by rescuers for primary school students continues in Zhytomyr oblast. This time, specialists from the State Emergency Service visited Lyceum No. 3 in Zhytomyr, where they held a lesson in a specialised safety class.

Sumy oblast

The Sumy RMA reported that at night the russian military shelled Seredyna-Buda community with 1 artillery explosion recorded.

Over the previous day, the russians fired Sumy region 7 times with a total of 36 explosions caused by mortar and artillery shelling, and FPV drone strikes. Myropillya, Bilopillya, Krasnopillya, and Seredyna-Buda communities were under enemy fire.

The National Police informed that as a result of russian strikes in Sumy oblast on 21 April, one person was wounded in Bilopillia. The following buildings were damaged: two apartment blocks, a private house, a gas pipeline, a kindergarten, a taxi service building, and a car wash.  

Yuriy Polous, headquarters chief of the territorial defence zone, said that the enemy attacked Sumy region 169 times last week. According to Polous, the total attack number decreased by almost half, especially on weekends. However, the enemy began to intensify the air and missile attacks, attacks from multiple rocket launchers and FPV drones. During this period 2 residents were killed and 9 wounded by shelling.

The SES reported that over the past week, bomb squads in the region destroyed 35 pieces of ammunition found in Sumy oblast. Explosive items were found in Sumy, Okhtyrka, Konotop, and Shostka districts. A total of 320 cases of explosives detection have been recorded since the beginning of the year.

On 21 April, representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross organised first aid workshops in Sumy. The participants had the opportunity to apply their skills in a simulated situation requiring first aid and to practice the sequence of actions they had learned.

Chernihiv oblast

The Chernihiv border guard detachment reported that on 21 April, russians attacked Hremyach village in the Novhorod-Siverskyi community with mortars, with 3 explosions recorded.

Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the RMA, reported that the enemy fired 50 times at 25 settlements in Chernihiv oblast over the past week with a total of 241 explosions recorded.

The number of wounded in the russian missile attack on Chernihiv on 17 April increased to 89 people, and 18 were killed. The number of injured increased because people did not immediately seek professional help. According to the latest data, 28 multi-story buildings and more than 500 apartments were damaged by the missile strike.

 Yaroslav Slesarenko, Head of the Capital Construction Department, informed at a meeting in Chernihiv RMA that UAH 804m had been allocated from the state budget for the construction of fortifications in Chernihiv oblast. This is 50% of the total need. In total, more than UAH1.5 b is needed for construction. Platoon strongholds and a continuous line of non-explosive barriers are being built within the oblast. The defensive line construction is complicated by swampy terrain and a high groundwater level.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening, the occupiers attacked Nikopol with artillery. There were no casualties or damage.

According to updated information, due to the yesterday’s shelling of Marhanets community a farm and its livestock were damaged. A power line was damaged. No people were injured. 

An enemy reconnaissance UAV was shot down over Dnipro region by the Air Command East 

During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region 15 times, launching kamikaze drones and artillery, hitting the region’s center of  Myrove and Marhanets communities. A utility company, a college, a multi-storey building, 6 private houses, cars, a scooter, an excavator, an outbuilding and gas pipelines were damaged. No people were injured.

Vinnytsia oblast

Serhii Morhunov, City Mayor reported volunteers and representatives of the city council met with the 28th Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign and sent them a generator, thermal imagers and Mavics.

Kirovohrad oblast

Defenders Oleksii Bobyr from Oleksandrivka community, Vadym Hinzerskyi from Haivoron community and Serhii Rybachenko from Subotsivka community were killed in the war.

On April 16, 2024, senior soldier Oleksii Bobyr, born in 1981, was killed in action. 

Vadym Hinzerskyi, born in 1987, was killed on May 26, 2022 during a clash with the enemy near Toshkivske, Luhansk region. He was a grenade launcher of the 2nd Mechanized Platoon of the 2nd Mechanized Company of the military unit A4395.

Serhii Rybachenko was killed during a combat mission.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava paid tribute to the 3 soldiers who defended Ukraine from the russian army. 

Ihor Hornazhenko from Poltava was killed on April 15 in Donetsk region. He man was 38 years old.

Andrii Korotkov was an assistant chief of the Air Defense. He was killed on April 17, 2024, during a combat mission. The soldier was 52 years old.

Roman Sidanych from Poltava oblast was killed on April 12, 2024 in Donetsk region. The man was 51 years old.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, Cherkasy oblast sent aid to Kharkiv oblast. It includes 54 generators, 4 charging stations, power banks, fuel and construction materials.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, the occupiers struck Zaporizhzhia oblast 202 times having attacked dix populated areas. The enemy carried out aviation strikes on Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka. 25 UAVs attacked Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Malynivka. Six MLRS shellings covered Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Levadne. There were 169 artillery strikes on the territory of Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne, and Malynivka. Two reports of residential buildings being destroyed were received. Civilians were not harmed.

It is reported that the occupiers carried out four assaults towards Orikhiv. Three of them were inear Staromayorske and one near Robotyne. They were unsuccessful. This was reported by the “South” Operational Command.

The military on the Zaporizhzhia direction received over 200 drones and other equipment. In particular, the servicemen received FPV drones, Mavic 3 quadcopters of various modifications, anti-drone rifles, relay stations, and signal amplifiers. This was reported by  Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

An exhibition of photographs from the front-line territories titled “This is My Home” has opened in Zaporizhzhia. Photojournalist Kateryna Klochko has been documenting russian war crimes for over two years. In addition to photographs from the front-line settlements, Kateryna presented a series of photographs with Ukrainian flags.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mine detection dogs have been working on demining territories in Mykolaiv oblast for a week now. As reported by the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv oblast, two Belgian shepherd dogs named Alfa and Kvad have already inspected 3700 square meters of territory in Pervomaisk community over six days of work.

Agricultural producers in Mykolaiv oblast are losing profits due to grain transportation problems. According to the head of Mykolaiv MRA, Vitalii Kim, Mykolaiv Port exported 30 million tons of grain in 2021, but now it’s zero. He also noted that currently farmers are only utilizing 82% of the region’s fields due to landmines. According to him, 125 thousand hectares of land have been demined in the past one and a half years, but another 150 thousand hectares remain dangerous due to russian mines.

Odesa oblast

Tonight, the enemy attacked Odesa oblast  with “Shahed-131/136” drones from the temporarily occupied Crimea. Southern defense forces destroyed 5 barrage shells. Warehouse buildings and agricultural machinery of a farm were damaged.

On 22 April, around 7:00, a reconnaissance drone “Orlan-10” was shot down in Odesa oblast. This was reported by the commander of the Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk.

Kherson oblast

Today, the russian army launched two attacks on Dniprovskyi district in Kherson city. As a result of the first attack, a 44-year-old woman was injured, suffering from a concussion, leg wounds, and blast and cranial injuries. In the second attack, two men aged 48 and 51 were injured and hospitalized with concussions and blast injuries.

Yesterday, the enemy shelled Novovorontsovka, Antonivka, and the city of Kherson. Kozatske, Beryslav, and Novoberyslav also were shelled and attacked with airstrikes. Three high-rise buildings, three private houses, a medical facility, an educational institution, a kindergarten, private cars, and a gas pipeline were damaged. The gas leak has been sealed, and there are no fires or threats. Three people were injured due to russian aggression, including one child.

It is reported that the enemy conducted four assaults towards Krynky on the left bank of the Dnipro River, in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast. the occupiers withdrew after suffering losses.

Yesterday, the enemy lost 113 occupiers and 7 units of weapons and military equipment, including 3 armored vehicles, 1 radio-electronic warfare station, and 3 boats. One field supply buildup was destroyed.

The number of demining specialists has been increased in Kherson oblast to clear our land of russian explosives. Nearly a hundred more sappers have been involved in these operations. In total, 1265 specialists are working on demining the right bank, having cleared 6500 hectares in the past week. Overall, more than 37% of the right bank, or 256 thousand hectares, have been surveyed.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Last week, Lutsk City Council reported that the community sent 15 DJI Mavic 3, 7 DJI Mavic 3T, 50 FPV, 6 Starlink, 16 Ecoflow, 5 Lenovo laptops, 8 Lenovo tablets, 8 Motorola radios, 7 Banera Flashlight BFL 280.1X, 12 pairs of mine-resistant shoes, QUERTUS ANTIDRON G6+ and QUERTUS AD COUNTER FPV to the military.

Andrii Nikolaychuk, National Guardsman, who was killed in battle, was posthumously awarded with the III Degree For Courage Order. The state award was given to Hero’s sons Matviy and Zachar and his wife.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that Zakarpattia will receive about €4.5m in grant funds from the EU for the implementation of development projects within the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine 2021–2027 cross-border program.

The RMA signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Asklepiy medical centre and the OneLab laboratory. Within the scope of the support package, a free diagnosis and consultation on psoriasis is provided for defenders and veterans from Zakarpattia who are serving in various units of Ukraine.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that the community sent 60 more FPV drones for the soldiers in Avdiiv region thanks to the budget funds.

The 3rd International Medical Mission Face the Future Ukraine has started in Prykarpattia. It involves a team of 15 plastic surgeons from the USA and Canada who, together with Ukrainian medics, will perform facial reconstructive operations on wounded soldiers and civilians during the week. In total, it is planned to carry out 30 surgical interventions on patients with severe landmine-explosive wounds of the face and neck.

Lviv oblast

A delegation led by Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalench, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy of the Republic of Poland arrived in Lviv oblast. Oleh Nemchynov, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, is also in the oblast on a working visit. On the agenda is the signing of a grant agreement for a large infrastructure project that will extend to Lviv, Ternopil and Krosno. The total project budget is €3.8m. It will be implemented at the expense of the European Union within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine Program.

In Strii region, memorial plaques were installed in memory of five fallen servicemen. On the facade of Verbytsk People’s House, names of Mykhailo Pidhaynyi, Oleh Sheremetyi, and Mykhailo Rohovskyi were immortalised. And in the village of Dev’yatniki, on the facade of the local gymnasium, memorial plaques were opened to the fallen Oleh Kobrin and Volodymyr Pryshlyakov.

Almost UAH 117,000 were raised in Lviv oblast for the needs of the Armed Forces. Over 850 participants who danced folk, classical, modern and ballroom choreography took part in the art project. 12 thermal imagers, 2 Mavik, 4 Starlink, a quadcopter, 100 folding beds, an EW and 9 night vision devices were purchased with these funds. The 10th All-Ukrainian Charitable Festival-Competition of Choreography Apple Blossom – 2024 was held in the People’s House in Novyi Rozdil. 42 teams took part in the art project.

Rivne oblast

In communities of Rivne oblast, 7 eco-projects will be implemented within the cross-border cooperation Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027. Fighting fires and floods, protecting nature reserves and improving water quality. The budget of each project consists of two parts – the grant part and the own contribution.

The 100th safety class was opened at Rivne Lyceum №22. It is special because it is named in honour of Bohdan Nikitin, graduate of the lyceum, fallen servicemen. Here, students will be taught the rules of fire, mine safety, road traffic, civil protection, as well as the basics of providing first aid.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that local volunteers delivered parcels to the defenders at the front from students and educators, which they made with their own hands for the Pysanka to the Defender campaign.

Ternopil signed a memorandum of understanding with the Norwegian Refugee Council. They will work together to improve access to earning opportunities for people affected by the war in Ukraine, increasing their professional skills and competencies. As part of the initiative, these vocational and technical educational institutions will receive the necessary modern equipment for conducting relevant training.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent 200 drones worth UAH 3.7m thanks to the budget funds. Since the beginning of 2024, the community has sent almost 2,000 FPV drones and 190 quadcopters.

Chernivtsi oblast

Military units of the Separate Infantry Battalion, the 31st Border Detachment and the 94th Territorial Defense Battalion received quadcopters and generators. 3 quadcopters with a thermal imager were purchased by the Swedish-Ukrainian clinic Enhelholm and the Lady Business Club NGO. And volunteers Nataliia Foka and Ruslan Ilika sent 6 generators, 2 EcoFlow charging stations and 2 solar batteries.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Jonas Har Store, Prime Minister of Norway, announced that Norway will contribute financially to the initiative to provide Ukraine with additional air defence systems.

Ukrainians will take part in NATO‘s Locked Shields 2024 cyber defence exercises. This year, Locked Shields will be attended by about 4,000 experts from over 40 countries in order to protect the infrastructure of the fictional nation and its country.

The US Embassy in Ukraine reported a bipartisan delegation of the US Congress arrived in Kyiv.

A delegation led by Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalench, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy of the Republic of Poland arrived in Lviv oblast. On the agenda is the signing of a grant agreement for a large infrastructure project that will extend to Lviv, Ternopil and Krosno. The total project budget is €3.8m. It will be implemented at the expense of the European Union within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine Program.

The 3rd International Medical Mission Face the Future Ukraine has started in Prykarpattia. It involves a team of 15 plastic surgeons from the USA and Canada who, together with Ukrainian medics, will perform facial reconstructive operations on wounded soldiers and civilians during the week. In total, it is planned to carry out 30 surgical interventions on patients with severe landmine-explosive wounds of the face and neck.

For the first time in history, a Ukrainian victim of torture in the temporarily occupied territory filed a criminal lawsuit with the Federal Court of Argentina. He is asking for an investigation into the torture he was subjected to, including electrocution. The Argentine constitution, on the basis of universal jurisdiction, allows courts to consider international crimes, in particular, crimes against humanity and war crimes, regardless of where they were committed.

Janie Penn-Barwell, British pensioner, took out a mortgage loan to buy a house for a family of Ukrainian refugees from Kyiv oblast. The pensioner from Eastleigh, after the full-scale russian invasion, took in a Ukrainian family under the scheme of housing displaced refugees from Ukraine. Mother Oksana and her two daughters Olena and Yara used to live in the north of Kyiv oblast, the father of the family joined the army, and the woman and her children left Ukraine in 2022 to keep them safe.

Thanks to the efforts of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea and the support of the Ukrainian community and international partners, the performance of the russian prima ballerina with the modance project at the Seoul Art Center and the bolshoi theatre ballet gala concert in the capital of South Korea will no longer take place.
