It has been the 790th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

During the day of April 23, there were 60x tactical engagements.

The enemy launched a total of 4x missile and 60x air strikes, 46x MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the russian areas bordering Ukraine. The enemy conducts subversion, continues shelling of Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the concentration of mining operations along the state border of Ukraine. More than 20x settlements, including Klyusy and Hrem’yach (Chernihiv oblast), Velyka Berizka, Prohres, Vilna Sloboda, Ulanove, Popivka, Stukalivka, Pavlivka, Obody, Novomykolaivka, Myropil’s’ke, Stepok, Pokrovka (Sumy oblast) came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Kup’yans’k and Lyman axes: the adversary conducted 1x attack on Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Berestove (Kharkiv oblast). The enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of Ivanivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Syn’kivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 10x attacks in the vicinities of Hrekivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers launched an air strike in the area of Serebryanska forestry (Luhansk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Makiivka, Nevske (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Torske (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 14x attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Verkhnokamianske, Novyi, Spirne, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary, using air attacks, attempted to improve its tactical position. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Pivnichne (Donetsk oblast). Around 20x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 14x attacks in the vicinities of Novokalynove, Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Yasnobrodivka, Netailove, Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Semenivka, Selydove, Karlivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 15x settlements, including Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Umanske (Donetsk oblast).

Novopavlivka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to block the enemy near Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), where the invaders, with air support, made 17x attempts to breach Ukrainian defence. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka, Pobjeda (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Orikhiv axis: the enemy, with air support, launched 2x attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). Around 15x settlements, including Chervone, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Kherson axis: the enemy does not abandon its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. In particular during the day of 23 April, the invaders, using air attacks, executed 1x unsuccessful assault on positions of Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Krynky (Kherson oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Odradokamianka, Olhivka, Lvove, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Novotyahynka, Bilozerka, Veletenske, Kizomys (Kherson oblast) as well as the city of Kherson.

During the day of 23 April, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 15x concentrations of enemy troops.

The Ukrainian Missile Forces hit 1x UAVs ground control station, 1x air defense system, 1x concentration of troops, and 1x other important target of the russian occupiers.


$350 million is needed to restore TPPs in Ukraine. Ukraine has lost 8 GW of generating capacity as a result of recent attacks, and current shortages of electricity are expected during peak periods in summer and winter. According to the management of DTEK, the damage caused is approximately estimated at 250 million dollars, another 100 million dollars are needed for the works. By comparison, the company suffered slightly less damage last year, and spent $110 million to recover from the 2022 winter bombings. This was announced by the executive director of the energy company DTEK, Dmytro Sakharuk.
The Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine purchased 4,000 DJI Mavic drones for the Armed Forces for a total of over UAH 575 million. The total value of the concluded contracts amounted to UAH 575.2 million. The average price of one drone is UAH 126.9 thousand (DJI Mavic 3E with three additional batteries and a charger) and UAH 194.2 thousand (DJI Mavic 3T with three additional batteries and a charger). The first batches of purchased drones have already been delivered to military units. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that its first Ukrainian service centre in a shelter has been opened in Kharkiv. A waiting area and workplaces have been set up there. Services at the centre are provided by appointment. The coupons are available via e-registration or at the terminal located in the service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that in the afternoon, the invaders attacked the private sector of Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv. There are no casualties at the moment. Specialised services continue to examine the area. As a result of the attack, 15 private houses were damaged. According to him, windows were broken, roofs and garages damaged. Serhii Dvodnenko, Head of the district police department №2, informed that russians used UMPB D-30 to attack Kharkiv. According to him, a park area was hit.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on 22 April, the invaders shelled Kharkiv TV tower by an X-59 missile. As a result of the shelling, there is no digital broadcasting signal in Kharkiv and the nearest settlements. The total height of the tower before the hit was 250m. The impact was at an altitude of about 140m. The technical premises were damaged. Experts are analysing the extent of damage to television equipment.

About 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered enemy artillery and mortar attacks yesterday: Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kotliarivka and others. Zolochiv, Vovchansk, Prykolotne, Derhachi and Senkove were hit by airstrikes.

On 23 April at 2:49am as a result of the shelling of Derhachi, Kharkiv region, structural elements of the household building were on fire.

At 10:40pm, an open area in the forest of Borova village, Chuhuiv region, was shelled.

At 5:30pm, an excavator was damaged as a result of shelling in Yurchenkove village, Chuhuiv region. A 33-year-old civilian man was killed.

At 4:36pm, a 38-year-old woman was injured in Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi as a result of russian shelling.

At 4:35pm, an airstrike in Velykyi Burluk damaged the building of a civilian enterprise, private households and apartment buildings and injured a woman.

At 4:35pm, Prykolotne village, Kupiansk region, was shelled by a KAB bomb. A private house and the building of the drying workshop of a private enterprise were damaged.

At 4:15pm, Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, was attacked by a KAB. 6 private houses and a school building were damaged.

At 4:10pm, Derhachi, Kharkiv region, was shelled by a KAB. The household and office premises were damaged.

At 3:45pm, Vovchansk was shelled by a KAB. The premises of the meat processing plant were damaged.

At 12pm, Hlushkivka village, Kupiansk region, was shelled by Uragan MRLs. The building of the agricultural enterprise was damaged.

On 22 April at 11:15am, Vovchanski Khutory village, Chuhuiv region, was attacked by artillery. A private house was damaged.

Yesterday the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions towards Kupiansk.

62 children with their families were evacuated from certain settlements in Bohodukhiv, Izium and Kharkiv regions: Borova community – 4; Derhachi community – 28; Lyptsi community – 30.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 60.07 hectares of territory and destroyed 468 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that russian army attempted to attack the positions of the Ukrainian army in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts more than 70 times over the day. Most of the attacks and attempts to break through Ukrainian defences were made towards Novopavlivka (near Marinka), Lyman and Avdiivka.

Spokesman of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group Voloshyn informed that russian troops are trying to gain a foothold in the southern part of Ocheretyne towards Avdiivka, the majority of the settlement is controlled by the Defence Forces. He added that the southern part of Ocheretyne, where russian units are located, is under fire control of Ukrainian artillery, and the Defence Forces are taking measures to push the occupation forces out of there and stabilise the situation.

Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office has released preliminary expert findings. The agency specified that there are five injured: the driver of the car and four of his passengers who were driving down the street at the time of the shelling.

He added that over 70 attacks were repelled by Ukrainian troops on the eastern front yesterday, 22 April.

The regional police stated that the russian army damaged or destroyed 11 residential buildings, an educational institution and damaged industrial facilities over the day. The oblast suffered 15 attacks yesterday, with 8 towns and villages under attack.

The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of 23 April is as follows:

Towards Pokrovsk, 1 person in Krasnohorivka and another in Novooleksandrivka of Hrodivka community were killed. In Novohrodivka community, 4 private houses were damaged. In Selydove, a person was injured and 14 private houses damaged. In Kurakhove community, administrative buildings and 3 private houses in Hostre, 2 private houses and an industrial area in Kurakhivka were damaged.

Towards Kramatorsk, in Lyman community, 4 houses in Yampil were damaged, Yampolivka and Terny shelled. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka community were under attack.

Towards Bakhmut, 11 private houses, 3 apartment buildings and 2 non-residential buildings were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. A house was damaged in Siversk.

In total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 15 times over the day. 130 people, including 19 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, said that yesterday russians killed 2 civilians: in Novooleksandrivka and Krasnohorivka. Another 1 person was injured in the oblast over the day

Luhansk oblast

The enemy focused its assault operations towards Lyman.

Also russian ground activity was observed in Serebrianka forest, Nadiia and Novoiehorivka in Svatove region.

Two airstrikes were launched on Bilohorivka and Nevske. Stelmakhivka and Hrekivka were hit by enemy artillery. Makiivka, Kuzemivka and Stelmakhivka were hit by mortars. The danger remains along the entire contact line.

At the same time, food and hygiene kits were delivered to de-occupied Novoliubivka and Nevske yesterday.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, since the invaders started taking away the real estate of Luhansk residents, the number of notaries in Sievierodonetsk and other frontline cities has increased dramatically. The services are not cheap and have no legal force outside the so-called “lpr” but there is practically no alternative as the population remaining in the city is under threat of eviction if some russian-type documents are not done in time.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, reported that the illegal distribution of other people’s housing diverted the attention of the local occupation authorities from resolving the issue of the construction of the landfill. While other cities are already registering land plots and preparing to make the estimated documentation as expensive as possible, Sievierodonetsk has not yet decided on the construction site.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The RMA reported that at night the enemy tried to attack Kyiv oblast with a UAV once again. The alert lasted almost three hours. All enemy targets were destroyed by air defence forces with no damage or casualties reported.

Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the AFU Commander-in-Chief, met with the military leadership of Lithuania in Kyiv. They discussed the situation on the battlefield, Ukrainian soldiers training, and support for Ukraine. 

Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of the Kyiv RMA, said that a modern shelter of almost 300 square metres had been built in Brovary Lyceum No. 4. The work began in August last year. The shelter was built based on co-funding at the expense of the state subvention and the community. It is equipped with a generator, sanitary facilities, a medical unit, a food storage room, water supplies, and a modern ventilation system.

The Permanent Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations of the Kyiv City State Administration has decided not to open the beach season. 

Citizens are advised to refrain from visiting beaches and recreation areas for safety reasons.

The Kyiv City State Administration also announced a new memorial plaque installation procedure in Kyiv. The authority to install the plaques has been transferred to the city’s district state administrations. In addition, a standard model of a memorial plaque was defined separately, as the number of requests for the memorial plaque installation and memorial signs in honour of fallen soldiers has increased.

A space of remembrance for the fallen university students and cadets was created in the park area of the courtyard near the main building of Taras Shevchenko University. The space of memory is formed by planted thuja and viburnum trees. The event was initiated by the university’s student parliament and was joined by students, cadets, and teachers. The stories of the victims were also collected in a virtual memorial to the fallen Shevchenko students. 

Zhytomyr oblast

The OVA reported more than 100 grants have already been awarded in the Zhytomyr oblast under the “Own Business” program since the beginning of 2024. The total public investment amount in their business development is almost UAH 26.2 m, and the funds use will create at least 210 new jobs.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Chyzhivka community has raised over UAH 500,000 to support the AFU needs. Education and culture workers of the Chyzhiv village council have united to organize charity concerts, fairs and fundraisers to help the Ukrainian military. More than UAH 2.5m was allocated from the village council’s budget to purchase military equipment and ammunition.

A charity lottery event called Coffee with Your Favorite Actor initiated two weeks ago at the Zhytomyr Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Ivan Kocherha raised almost UAH 15,000. The money will be used to buy a car for one of the AFU military units.

Sumy oblast

 The Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that at around 13:00, the russian military shelled the civilian infrastructure of Shalygino in the Shostka community with artillery. As a result of the enemy attack, two women, aged 72 and 45, were injured and hospitalized.

In the morning, russians shelled Velyka Pysarivka community. According to the regional military administration, the enemy dropped a VOG-type munition from a UAV.

The russian military attacked Sumy oblast border settlements 16 times with A total of 182 explosions recorded, including mortar, artillery, and AGS attacks and the use of FPV drones. The Khotyn, Myropillia, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled.

In the Sumy regional budget for 2024, expenditures to support the Security and Defense Forces have been increased by almost UAH 8m. In total, two-thirds of the allocated additional financial resources of the regional budget were directed to support the military. According to Volodymyr Artyukh, the head of the RMA, these funds will allow purchasing more than 240 units of technical equipment that will enhance the capabilities of our soldiers.

The Department of Social Policy, Veterans and Reintegration reported that war veterans and their families can use the social rehabilitation service in Sumy oblast. The project foresees a 10-day family vacation in a sanatorium for recovery and problem solution of the veteran and family which will be identified during the rehabilitation vacation. 

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, russian troops attacked the Chernihiv oblast border five times a with total of 18 mortar attacks recorded on the territory of Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk communities.

In Chernihiv, mobile shelters are being set up near public transportation stops to protect against shelling. As reported by the acting mayor of Chernihiv, Oleksandr Lomako, six such shelters have already been installed, and 10 more are planned.

In addition, Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the OVA, informed that 4 large centrifugal pumps worth an estimated €140,000 were delivered to Chernihiv oblast from Ile-de-France region. They will be used for the educational institutions and critical infrastructure needs. In addition, at the end of March, Ile-de-France region delivered school furniture through the French charity organization Protection Civile, which has already been received by seven educational institutions.

As reported in the RMA, 9 more police stations have been set up in Chernihiv oblast. Police officers have appeared in Kiptivska, Novobilouska, Mala Divytsia, Varva, Honcharivske, Parafiyivka, Talalaivka, Ichnia, and Oster territorial communities. The Community Police Officer project currently covers 21 communities.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

The occupiers attacked Nikopol region 3 times. Last night they fired from artillery and launched a kamikaze drone at the region’s centre. At night, they shelled Chervonohryhorivka community with artillery. There were no casualties or damage. 

The defenders of the Air Command  East shot down an enemy reconnaissance UAV over the Dnipro region.

8 casualties have already been reported as a result of the missile attack on Dnipro region. 3 men – aged 34, 48 and 70 – and a 72-year-old woman. All are hospitalised in moderate condition. A 23-year-old girl was injured. She has an open head injury, in severe condition. 3 men – 32, 43 and 47 years old are in moderate condition, two of them are in hospital. The occupiers terrorised Nikopol region all day long, launching more than two dozen attacks – the region centre, Myrove, Marhanets’ and Pokrovsk communities.  The russians attacked  these communities with kamikaze drones, dropped ammunition from drones and fired from artillery. 2 people were injured. In total, 16 private houses, a multi-storey building, a shop, infrastructure facilities, an administrative building, 5 outbuildings, a car, a gas pipeline and 4 power lines were damaged in the region. About a hundred families were left without electricity.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​The VinPatriot children’s volunteer centre in Vinnytsia raised almost UAH 200K for the Armed Forces of Ukraine through a charity marathon. For 10 days, schoolchildren held a series of charity events: lotteries, promotions, fairs, tournaments, film screenings and concerts. In total, students from 28 schools took part in the fundraising. UAH 191,364, have already been transferred to the NGO Molfar, which will purchase a vehicle for the Special Reconnaissance Company of the 74th Separate Mechanised Regiment.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, the community paid tribute to Ihor Pastushenko and Vitalii Zhomir. They were buried on the Walk of Fame.

Ihor Pastushenko had the rank of captain and was a company commander. He died of illness on 17 April at the age of 46.

Vitalii Zhomir was killed on 15 April in Malotaranivka village, Kramatorsk region, Donetsk region. He was 49 years old.

Poltava oblast

Philip Pronin, Head of the RMA reported that there were explosions Poltava.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, defenders of Cherkasy oblast shot down 2 enemy UAVs. There were no casualties or damage. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that during the past day, occupiers launched 514 strikes on Zaporizhzhia oblast. 6 settlements were under enemy attack.

The enemy conducted aerial strikes on Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka. A total of 182 UAVs of various modifications targeted Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 13 MLRS attacks were launched towards Huliaipole, Levadne and Robotyne. 317 artillery strikes were carried out on the territory of Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne and Malynivka. 5 reports of residential destruction were received.

Over 730 individuals approached Zaporizhzhia Recruitment Center within the month. More than 60 men and 20 women have already selected their positions and plan to sign contracts to serve in the Ukrainian army.

According to the State Emergency Service, sappers disposed of 16 explosive objects in Zaporizhzhia.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed an order establishing military administrations in 8 settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast and appointed their heads.

Mykolaiv oblast

On the night of 23 April, air defence forces shot down 4 Shahed 131/136 UAVs in Mykolaiv oblast. However, debris from the downed Shahed-131/136 UAV damaged the trade infrastructure. A fire broke out in a commercial pavilion, which was promptly extinguished by firefighters.

On 22 April, at 7:05am, the enemy conducted artillery shelling on Kutsurub community. As a result, 2 educational institutions in Solonchaky village were damaged. There were no casualties reported.

Based on the information provided by the region military administrations and the SES of Ukraine in Mykolaiv oblast, yesterday, the waters and the city of Ochakiv of Ochakiv community were shelled. As a result, a 39-year-old man was injured. Residential buildings, structures, vehicles and power lines were damaged. Currently, the power supply has been restored.

Ambassador of Germany Martin Eger shared footage of his trip to Mykolaiv, during which he visited the training of Ukrainian sappers and a demonstration of a new demining vehicle. The ambassador noted that Germany is making a significant contribution to demining in Ukraine, with important partners in these efforts being the Danish Refugee Council and HALO Trust. Additionally, the German government has promised to promptly deliver a new Patriot system to Ukraine.

Odesa oblast

Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that on 23 April, russian occupiers launched 2 ballistic missiles Iskander-M from Belhorod oblast (russia) and 16 Shahed-131/136 UAVs from Cape Chauda (Crimea) and Kursk oblast (russia). The unit of anti-aircraft missile forces and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces repelled the attack, with the involvement of electronic warfare assets.

During the night, the aggressor targeted Odesa with Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones. Several waves of strike UAVs were directed at the industrial and port infrastructure of Odesa oblast. The enemy also attacked the residential sector of Odesa. As a result, 9 residents were injured, including 4 children (a boy and a girl aged 5 and 9 months, and two boys aged 9 and 12 years). 22 houses, trade facilities and vehicles were damaged.

According to the Flightradar portal, on 23 April, a NATO Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft began patrolling the airspace of Romania. The American reconnaissance aircraft is patrolling along the border with Moldova and near the southern shores of Odesa oblast.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, said that russian forces targeted residential areas of settlements in oblast, damaging 8 high-rise buildings and 26 private houses. There were hits on an educational institution, a kindergarten, a cultural facility, critical infrastructure and a gas pipeline. Due to russian aggression, 2 people were killed and 6 others injured.

During the past day, the enemy shelled Antonivka, Bilozirka, Stanislav, Sadove, Ivanivka, Novotyahynka, Beryslav, Novoberislav, Tyahynka, Mykhailivka, Kachkarivka, Novovorontsovka, Zmiivka, Chervonyi Mayak, Kozatske, Vesele and Kherson.

During the day, the occupiers once again attacked Kozatske village. As a result, an 82-year-old woman received life-threatening injuries.

An explosive device injured a 63-year-old resident dropped from a drone. He was hospitalised with explosive trauma, concussion and injuries to the arms and torso.

russian forces also shelled Novokayir. A 67-year-old man received explosive trauma and shrapnel wounds to the shoulder. The victim was hospitalized.

According to Kherson RMA, from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, 17 residents were evacuated by car, including 5 children and 3 people with limited mobility.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council once again sent aid to military personnel who defend Ukraine in advanced positions. 2 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo quadcopters were sent to the military unit A0281. 3 Alientech Duo II, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Thermal and 2 DJI Mavic 3 were sent to the military unit A4722.

In the Palace of Culture of Lutsk, a charity project in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Unity is Our Strength! was held. Funds collected at the charity evening will be directed to the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis.

Zakarpattia oblast

Zakarpattia Regional Council and the Suchasna Ukraine CF signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document envisages joint work on providing humanitarian and charitable aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, promoting physical and mental recovery, psychological rehabilitation and social integration of children who suffered as a result of russian military aggression and women who lost husbands in the war, organization and holding of conferences, seminars, trainings and other activities for the implementation of charity projects.

The Ustec region of the Czech Republic allocated 5m kroner for the construction of the 4.5.0 rehabilitation center in Uzhhorod. 5m crowns was previously allocated for the construction of a rehabilitation center in Uzhhorod by the Pardubice Region, the Vysochyna Region provided 5.5m crowns and the Moravian-Silesian Region – 7m crowns. 10m crowns were recently allocated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Austria and Hungary also provide assistance for the creation of the center.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Over 80 children from frontline oblasts arrived in Prykarpattia for rehabilitation. These are young Ukrainians from Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv oblasts, who have to live under constant shelling due to the proximity of their towns and villages to the contact line. The children are received by a health facility in Yaremche, where they can return to their usual studies, rest and recover. In addition, psychologists will work with them to help get rid of fears and anxieties.

Lviv oblast

The European Integration Forum Carpathian Sea Democracy Week started in Truskavets. It aims to deepen cooperation between Ukraine, the countries of Northern Europe and the Baltic States. The key focus is attracting foreign investments, consolidating efforts to bring Ukraine closer to victory, discussing possible ways to strengthen support for Ukraine.

The capital of Norway has joined the UNBROKEN Cities community. A partnership agreement between the cities was signed. Oslo became the 8th member of the UNBROKEN Cities community.

Lviv RMA directed UAH 100m to drones and combat drones of various types for the military. Most of the money will be given to the military units stationed in Lviv oblast, namely, the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, the 80th Separate Assault Brigade, the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Black Forest Brigade, the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment, the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 103rd Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 125th Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A charity rally Drone Paintings was held in Lviv. It raised 547,000 UAH to purchase a reconnaissance wing for the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Knights of the Winter Campaign.

16 children from Lviv oblast went to the Artek International Children’s Center in the village of Berezniki, Svalyavsky region, Zakarpattia oblast. These are orphans, children deprived of parental care and children of fallen defenders.

Rivne oblast

A health promotion campaign has started in Rivne oblast. 25 children from the oblast went to the Artek International Children’s Center, located near Kyiv, in Pushcha Voditsa. All of them are from low-income families, families of combatants, missing persons and dead. Also, 6 students from Duben region went to the Artek International Children’s Center in Zakarpattia oblast. These are the children of fallen soldiers. Children’s recreation is financed by the state.

A delegation from Kupiansk is in Rivne oblast. Rivne City Council and representatives of Kupiansk signed the Memorandum of cooperation.

Ternopil oblast

The Department of Education and Science of Ternopil City Council and the Representative Office of the Norwegian Refugee Council in Ukraine signed the Memorandum. Cooperation will consist in improving employment, self-employment for those people who suffered from the war in Ukraine, increasing their professional skills and competences.

Ternopil City Council signed a Memorandum on cooperation with Ukrainians from the city of Rubizhny. The humanitarian hub New Life operates in Ternopil and the Future of Ukraine Rubizhne public organization is active. Ternopil community handed over a laptop to residents of Rubizhny.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Another meeting of the executive committee was held in Khmelnytskyi. At which the design and estimated documentation for the industrial park and the construction of high-rise buildings for IDPs were approved.

Chernivtsi oblast

Repair work in Chernivtsi Regional Hospital for War Veterans continues. The process of reconstruction of one of the buildings of the hospital building for the newest rehabilitation center is monitored by specialists of the Department of Capital Construction of Chernivtsi oblast. Upon completion of the reconstruction, an innovative rehabilitation center for defenders with 60 beds will function on the basis of the facility.

Another meeting of the executive committee of Chernivtsi City Council took place. At the meeting, a decision was made to install memorial plaques to Yosyp Bursuk, Kostiantyn Popovych and the fallen serviceman Kyryl Tileyev.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The United Kingdom announced its largest package of military aid to Ukraine at $617m. It will include: 60 boats, including raiding and diving boats, as well as naval guns; over 1,600 attack and anti-aircraft missiles, as well as additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles; over 400 pieces of equipment, including 160 protected Husky vehicles, 162 armored vehicles and 78 all-terrain vehicles and almost 4m rounds of ammunition for small arms.

Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine, stated that his country will send all F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, in accordance with the previously reached agreement between the leaders of both countries.

Lithuania sent a new batch of M577 command and staff armored vehicles to Ukraine. A batch of armored vehicles arrived in Ukraine on 23 April. The exact number of vehicles is not reported.

The EU approved the extension of duty-free trade in Ukrainian agricultural products for one year. At the same time, new restrictions on the level of imports were introduced there to appease EU protesters. According to EU diplomats, the restrictions mean that Ukraine will receive €331m less from exports to the European Union than in 2023. The extension will now apply from 6 June.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, held a phone conversation with Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of Great Britain. They discussed the need to create an effective model of confiscation of Russian assets.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine met with James O’Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. They discussed preparation of a security agreement between Ukraine and the USA, strengthening of sanctions against the banking sector, the defense complex and the nuclear industry of the russian federation and use of frozen russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.
