What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

Since the beginning of the day, 77 combat engagements have taken place on the front line. Our defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines, and disrupting Russian plans.

Throughout the day, the enemy launched artillery strikes from Russian territory on the areas of Kucherivka, Oleksandrivka, Bila Bereza, Korenyok, and Shyrokyi Bereh in the Sumy region, as well as Zarichchia and Huta-Studenetska in the Chernihiv region.

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attempted four attacks on Defense Forces positions near Vovchansk and carried out an airstrike in the area of Chornoglazivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made one attempt to advance toward our positions near Petropavlivka during the day, but the attack was successfully repelled.

In the Lyman direction, nine clashes occurred near Nevske, Yampilivka, Kolodiazi, and Hryhorivka. Three battles are still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy is attacking near Verkhnokamianske, and fighting continues.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy launched three attacks near Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske, with two battles currently ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, the invaders attacked eight times near Ozarianivka, Toretsk, and Leonidivka. All attacks were repelled. Kostiantynivka suffered an airstrike.

Enemy activity remains high in the Pokrovsk direction. Eighteen engagements of varying intensity occurred today near Zelene Pole, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Kotlyne, Nadiivka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. Four battles are still ongoing. Russian guided bombs struck Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the aggressor attacked 13 times near Kostiantynopol, Rozdolne, Novyi Komar, and Pryvilne, with six battles still in progress.

In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy launched unguided rocket strikes on Novodarivka and Huliaipole.

Eight times, the occupiers attempted to advance on Ukrainian positions near Mali Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, and Stepove in the Orikhiv direction. Two battles are still ongoing, and the enemy also launched unguided airstrikes on Kamianske.

In the Huliaipole and Prydniprovia directions, the enemy has not conducted active offensive operations.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders are repelling three enemy attacks, with a total of 12 combat engagements recorded so far. The enemy carried out nine airstrikes, dropping 11 guided bombs on settlements and Defense Forces positions. Additionally, 296 artillery strikes were conducted, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.

Ukrainian forces are exhausting the enemy along the entire frontline and in the rear.

More than 1,300 Ukrainian marines remain in Russian captivity. The exact number of marines held in Russian prisons or considered missing is unknown. Over 100 marines have been illegally sentenced to long prison terms. Nearly every second prisoner is in critical condition due to inadequate detention conditions and lack of medical care. Not knowing where a person is or what has happened to them is extremely difficult. Russia has over 200 known detention facilities, but this number includes only those where Ukrainians have been released from. There could be more such prisons. This was reported by Anastasiia Savovoya, co-founder and head of the “Marine Corps Strength” Association.

Fifteen children have been returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory. Among them is a large family whose mother refused Russian documents and faced constant pressure from the occupiers. Three teenagers who had received military draft notices from the Russian army were also returned. One of them was kidnapped from home and forced to sign a contract. Two young children, after losing their mother, ended up in a Russian shelter where they were isolated from their relatives. This was reported by the Head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline
Russian forces attacked eight times today in the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions, with assaults near Vovchansk, Zapadne, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove, according to the General Staff’s report as of 22:00.

In the Kharkiv direction, our forces successfully repelled two enemy attacks near the settlements of Mala Shapkivka and Topoli, the Regional Military Administration (OVA) reported.

Yesterday, in the Kupiansk direction, 16 combat engagements took place near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Zahryzove, and Lozova.

Shelling
At around 15:40 today, the Russian army struck a residential area in Kupiansk with a guided aerial bomb (KAB). As a result, a 59-year-old civilian man was killed, and a 60-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. At least ten private houses were damaged

The State Emergency Service (SES) recovered the body of a deceased man in Kupiansk after a Russian airstrike.

 

The enemy carried out a drone strike on the residential area in the settlement of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. Two civilians, aged 70 and 63, were injured. They were hospitalized in serious condition.

From 12:15 to 13:30, Russian forces struck the territory of the village of Ivashky in the Zolochiv community using FPV drones. Initially, two hits occurred at the humanitarian aid loading point. Volunteers managed to avoid injury. Later, the strike targeted a building housing the humanitarian center. Two two-story apartment buildings were damaged.

At 04:45, Russian aviation carried out strikes with four KABs on the Zolochiv community. The first hit an open area on the outskirts of the village of Zolochiv, the second struck an open area in the village of Chornohlaizivka, and the other two bombs fell in an open area in the village of Myronivka. No information on casualties or destruction was reported.

At 02:30, the Russians attacked the city of Kharkiv, Slobidskyi district. As a result of an unspecified type of drone strike, equipment and vehicles at an enterprise were damaged. No casualties.

At 00:00, Russians attacked the Kupiansk district, the city of Kupiansk. As a result of an FPV drone strike, a private household was damaged.

The day before, at 16:00, Russians attacked the Izium district, Borivska hromada, village of Borova. As a result of a KAB strike, four private houses and household structures were damaged.

At 15:00, Russians attacked the Izium district, Borivska hromada, village of Pidlyman. As a result of a KAB strike, a garage building, warehouse, farm, and private house were damaged.

At 10:00, in the Kupiansk district, Kindrashivska hromada, village of Monochnivka, a shelling from a multiple rocket launcher system (MRLS) damaged a household structure.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline
In the Toretsk direction, fighting continues mainly in urban areas. The Russians almost do not use heavy equipment here, relying on infantry. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are holding the “Central” mine, where Russian forces attempt daily assault actions, according to Anatolii Maryniuk, Chief of Staff of the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 42nd Mechanized Brigade.

The AFU destroyed 11 Russian vehicles and 8 military trucks in the Kramatorsk direction, according to the Luhansk Border Detachment.

In Donetsk region, the occupiers lost a cannon, a vehicle, and an ammunition depot, according to the Operational Strategic Command “Khortytsia.”

Shelling
Two men were injured during shelling in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, on February 19, reported Anastasia Medvedieva, spokeswoman for the regional prosecutor’s office.

A 60-year-old woman was killed during the shelling of the village of Predtechyne in the Kostiantynivka hromada, Donetsk region. Russian forces shelled the settlement with artillery at 17:30, said Anastasia Medvedieva, spokeswoman for the regional prosecutor’s office. The facade of one of the private houses was damaged, reported Serhii Horbunov, head of the Kostiantynivka Military-Civilian Administration.

In the morning, Russian forces attacked residential buildings in Kostiantynivka with aerial bombs — six people were injured, the Donetsk prosecutor’s office reported. Preliminary information suggests that Russian forces used six FAB-250 bombs with UMPKs. Four apartment buildings, 34 private houses, power lines, a gas pipeline, and vehicles were damaged.

The Russian army struck the city of Myrnohrad three times in the morning of February 19, – reported acting head of Myrnohrad Military Civil Administration Yurii Tretyak. According to preliminary information, Russian forces used FAB-250 bombs with UMPK. No information on casualties has been reported.

At night, the Russian army carried out an airstrike on the city of Kostiantynivka, reported the head of the local military administration, Serhiy Horbunov. Rescuers found the bodies of two dead individuals under the rubble, while two more people were injured, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Emergency rescue operations have been completed. As a result of the shelling, nine private homes were damaged.

Over the past day, the police recorded 3,198 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas. Thirteen settlements were hit. A total of 60 civilian objects were damaged, including 49 residential houses.

The Russians dropped 9 “FAB-250” bombs on Kostiantynivka and its outskirts, killing at least one person and injuring one more civilian. Seventeen private homes, an enterprise, two gas pipelines, and power lines were damaged.

In Pokrovsk, the enemy struck a civilian car with an FPV drone, injuring a civilian.

In Illinivka, Kramatorsk district, Russia dropped a “FAB-250” bomb, injuring a civilian, and damaging 14 private homes, a car, and a gas pipeline.

As a result of bomb attacks in Ivanopillia, 16 private homes and an administrative building were damaged; in Katerynivka, three households were affected; in Markove, five homes; and in Novodmytrivka, an educational institution was damaged.

In Myrnohrad, the occupiers attacked with two “FAB-250” bombs, damaging a multi-apartment building and a private home.

In Bahatyr, a private home was damaged.

Other: Over the past week, 44 children from 32 families in Donetsk region’s settlements listed for forced evacuation were relocated, including six children from Komarska community, one from Kryvorizka, and 37 from Shakhivska. This was reported by acting head of the Department for Children’s Affairs, Yulia Ryzhakova.

An evacuation train with residents from Donetsk region departed for Bukovyna. A total of 24 people left, including residents of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, and Kramatorsk communities, reported OVA head Vadym Filashkin.

The Sea of Azov in Mariupol began to be polluted by sewage. There is also pollution of the city’s rivers, which flow into the sea, according to the city council, based on testimonies from local residents.

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Andriivka, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, was destroyed by Russian forces. This occurred during shelling in February 2025, according to OVA. The first mention of the church in the village of Andriivka dates back to 1793.

Luhansk oblast

The occupiers attacked Bilohorivka twice the day before and attempted to conduct assault operations near Makiyivka and Novolyubivka, according to the regional military administration (OVA). Ukrainian defenders are repelling this enemy assault. Over the past day, the enemy used artillery support nine times and directed 208 drones towards our fortifications.

The regional environmental operator was supposed to begin operations in the so-called “LPR” in 2025. There was even a single contender—the company “Vtorsyrovyna” from Kaliningrad. However, the relevant “ministry of the LPR” announced that the start of operations would only begin in 2026. Materials that would regulate the selection of the operator with specific conditions for operating in the occupied region have not even been developed or published yet.

In Severodonetsk, residents of another building complained about the quality of the so-called renovation. The contractors only completed facade work and left the site. They did not rebuild the apartments damaged by Russian shelling. However, on paper, the high-rise building has already been considered fully completed.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The RMA reported that at night the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast using a UAV. The attack lasted almost 8 hours. In Vyshhorod district, one private house was damaged as a result of the attack. Two cars were damaged in Fastiv district.

Liquidation of the aftermath of the russian strike on the Shelter at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant continues. As of the morning of 19 February, rescuers continue to extinguish smouldering areas and are working to partially open the shelter structures. The radiation background at the Chornobyl NPP site does not exceed the norm, the situation is under control.

Hryhoriy Ishchenko, Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, informed that international partners have stated that they are ready to provide money for the repair of the shelter at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. The work to be carried out will be determined after the consequences of the russian drone strike are eliminated. According to him, the work is complicated by the arch’s features. ‘This is a unique structure that has no analogues in the world. It is 108 metres high (approximately the height of a 40-storey building).

In the village of Lukashi, Brovary district, the lyceum, which was destroyed by russian shelling in March 2022, is undergoing major repairs. The project is funded by the European Investment Bank as part of the Ukraine Recovery Programme. It includes the construction of a shelter and the installation of fire and lightning protection systems.

The KCMA reported that from now on, a minute of silence will be observed in the Kyiv metro every day at 9:00 am. Subsequently, a similar sound announcement will be made in buses, trolleybuses and trams. However, public transport will not be stopped.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that on 20 February, the columned hall of the capital’s administration will discuss the improvement of the policy of honouring soldiers and assistance to family members of those who died at the front. The meeting is open to war veterans and relatives of killed and missing soldiers.

US Special Representative for Ukraine and russia Keith Kellogg arrived in Kyiv on 19 February. The special envoy is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zhytomyr oblast

As part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme ‘How are you?’, a Mental Health Centre is operating at Berdychiv City Hospital. Here, patients can receive comprehensive professional help from a multidisciplinary team of specialists – a psychiatrist, psychologists and psychotherapists, medical and social workers. The Centre’s services are open to all citizens.

In Zhytomyr oblast, 22 healthcare professionals and 103 medical doctors provide dental prosthetics and dental treatment for defenders of Ukraine.

In Zhytomyr, an exhibition was presented as part of the ‘Woman of Dreams/is’ photo project, which tells the story of women in the military who are defending Ukraine. The event was an important step in raising the visibility of women in the Armed Forces and drew attention to gender equality in the military.

Sumy oblast

 Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported that recently, there was another attempt by a russian sabotage and reconnaissance group to enter Ukrainian territory from Kursk oblast. Such attempts occur frequently, but the Defense Forces eliminate the russian military. According to him, there are currently no Russian military groups near the Sumy border capable of launching a large-scale offensive on Ukrainian territory.

According to the RMA, on 19 February, anti-aircraft gunners shot down 5 enemy ‘Shahed’ drones over Sumy oblast. In total, since the beginning of 2025, the air defense units of the oblast have destroyed 455 russian drones.

Artem Kobzar, acting mayor of Sumy, informed that in the evening of 18 February, a russian missile hit near a children’s recreational camp in the suburb of Sumy. The building’s roof was destroyed, and the doors, windows, and furniture were damaged..

During night and morning, russians carried out 24 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 36 explosions: by mortars and artillery, FPV-drones, GABs, missile strikes and dropping of VOG from UAVs. The attacks targeted Sumy, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, and Svesa communities. In Sumy community, windows of a non-residential building were damaged as a result of missile strikes

Mykola Toryanik, Head of Khotin community, reported that in the morning and until noon on 18 February, the russian army shelled Kindrativka village by FPV-drones. Six private houses were damaged.

The RMA informed that on 18 February, russians carried out 73 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 151 explosions. The enemy inflicted strikes using artillery (26 explosions), mortars (69 explosions), UAVs (1 explosion), FPV-drones (32 explosions), GABs (3 explosions), and dropped VOGs from UAVs (20 explosions). The attacks targeted 11 communities: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Hlukhiv, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, and Znob-Novhorod.

During an inspection of the territory of one of Shostka’s industrial enterprises following a russian strike on 8 February, eco-inspectors recorded contamination of 1,238 square meters of land. The State Environmental Inspection reported that the environmental damage to Shostka caused by russian shelling amounts to over UAH 22.4m. In total, as of 19 February, 2025, the damage to Sumy oblast’s land due to the russian invasion amounts to over UAH 2b.

A Center for Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Rehab SumDU, has been opened at the university clinic in Sumy. There, military personnel can receive rehabilitation after combat injuries, and civilians can receive treatment for mine-explosive injuries. The equipment was purchased with the assistance of the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine and financial support from the Government of the Kingdom of Netherlands.

Chernihiv oblast

The Operational Command ‘North’ reported that in the border village of Tynovichi, Semenivska community, a private house was damaged due to russian shelling on 18 February.  The enemy carried out four shellings and inflicted 18 strikes by artillery and one mortar strike.

Department of Civil Protection and Defense Work of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration informed that near Arkhypivka village in Novhorod-Siverskyi region, a building of a non-residential household was damaged as a result of an FPV-drone strike. 

Throughout the day on 18 February, the russian army attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy used unguided air rockets from helicopters (6 explosions), FPV-drones (4 explosions), UAV drops (18 explosions), artillery (18 explosions), and mortars (15 explosions). According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, twelve villages came under fire.

Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv Military Administration said that since the beginning of 2025, over UAH 200m has been allocated from the budget of Chernihiv to military units. This represents about 50% of the planned assistance amount for the entire year.

Chernihiv oblast received 37 portable power stations with a capacity of 2.4kW from the Finnish organization Finn Church Aid as part of ‘Winter Preparation’ project. TheRegional State Administration reported that the equipment will be distributed to eight general secondary education institutions in Bakhmach, Pryluky, Ichnia, Kozelets, and Kulykivka communities.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

At night, the defenders of the sky destroyed 2 enemy UAVs over the oblast. In the morning, the occupiers attacked Nikopol with artillery. 

The enemy attacked two districts of the region: Nikopol and Sinelnykivka. A 20-year-old woman was injured in the Mezhivka community of Sinelnykivka district as a result of a drone strike. A private house and an outbuilding were damaged. The occupants conducted more than two dozen strikes in Nikopol region. They used mostly kamikaze drones, fired from artillery and dropped ammunition from drones. They targeted the district centre, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrovsk communities. An ambulance, 4 private houses, a garage, cars, infrastructure, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​It became known that ten defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were killed. They are Mykola Kolyadenko, Oleksandr Vershyhor, Anatoliy Vasylyshyn, Serhiy Boyko, Oleksandr Bur, Ivan Dashkivsky, Oleksandr Matvienko, Oleksandr Ratushniak, Vladyslav Yakubivsky and Valentyn Gensirovsky.

Kirovohrad oblast

Yevhen Zvizdovsky, Head of Dolyna community, reported that Dolyna City Council of Kropyvnytskyi region, Kirovohrad oblast, has received 110 applications for damaged property as a result of a Shahed hit on a high-rise building on the night of 18 February. Almost three million hryvnias are to be allocated from the city budget for the repairs, including half a million for a family whose apartment was hit by a russian drone. The community needs to restore 272 windows. 

In Kropyvnytskyi, senior sailor Oleksandr Nikulin, soldiers Yevhen Zaitsev, Oleh Mezentsov and senior soldier Oleksiy Hrytsay were paid the last tribute. The soldiers were killed in Kursk and Donetsk oblast.

Kirovohrad oblast lost four soldiers in the war with russia. Nova Arkhangelska, Znamianka and Novoukrainka communities said goodbye to Valentyn Kovalenko, who died on 14 February 2025 as a result of a russian FPV drone strike near Kupiansk, Kharkiv oblast. Roman Shakov, who died on 11 February during a combat mission near Lebedivka village, Suzhansky region, Kursk oblast, russia. And Viktor Guryev, who died on 12 February in the Kursk oblast near  Oleshnya village of Suzhansky region, Kursk oblast.

Ketrysanivka community reported the death of Oleh Mykhel, who died on 29 January 2025 near Mykolaivo-Daryino village of  Suzhansky region, Kursk oblast, russia.

Poltava oblast

Soldiers from Poltava oblast were killed while defending Ukraine from russian troops. Soldier Vybornov Anton was killed on 12 February 2025 while performing a combat mission in the north-eastern direction of the russian-Ukrainian front. Soldier Balya Stanislav died on 5 February 2025 while performing a combat mission near  Andriivka village of Donetsk oblast.  And soldier Sukhomlyn Vitalii died on 11 February 2025, performing a combat mission in the north-eastern direction.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that another night of alert for almost six hours in the oblast. Seven russian UAVs were destroyed within our territory. In Uman region, the fragments of a Shahed damaged a power line, windows and roofs in eight houses and five outbuildings. Paramedics examined three people. They had an acute stress reaction. They refused to be hospitalised. 

In Cherkasy, the community held a “human corridor” to send the fallen soldier Anton Melnyk to his last journey. The soldier was killed while on his position during a small arms battle in Luhansk oblast.

Farmers from Lysyanka sent a car to the front for the air reconnaissance soldiers of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, 19 February, russian forces shelled Huliaipole, injuring a 63-year-old man. An emergency medical vehicle was also damaged in the attack

Yesterday, the occupiers launched 557 strikes on 14 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy launched seven airstrikes on Stepnohirsk, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Charivne, and Olhivske. 331 drones of various types attacked Zaporizhzhia, Mahdalynivka, Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Piatykhatky, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, and Novodarivka. 10 MLRS attacks targeted Novodanylivka, Novodarivka, and Shcherbaky. Additionally, there were 209 artillery strikes on Piatykhatky, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, and Novodarivka. Authorities received 28 reports of damaged apartments and private homes.

According to the General Staff, the occupiers attempted to advance eight times toward Ukrainian positions near Mali Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, and Stepove towards Orikhiv. Two battles are still ongoing. On 18 February, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled six russian assaults near Novoandriivka, Stepove, and Mali Shcherbaky. It is reported that russian forces launched 14 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novosilka and Novopil in Donetsk oblast towards Huliaipole.

On 17 February, the Ukrainian Air Force struck a russian battalion’s position near the temporarily occupied village of Chumatske. The operation destroyed an enemy base, fortifications, and a drone launch site.

The region’s fourth “underground” school has been opened in the village of Balabyne, 15 kilometers from Zaporizhzhia. Up to 1,000 children will be able to study there in two shifts. The new school has modern technology, an autonomous power supply, a conference hall, a sports area, and a spacious lounge zone.

Mykolaiv oblast

At 09:22, Ukraine’s Air Force reported a high-speed target heading toward Mykolaiv. Mykolaiv Mayor Senkevych confirmed information about explosions, and around 09:25, an explosion was heard in the city.

During the night of 19 February, air defense forces in Mykolaiv oblast shot down a “Shahed 131/136” drone.

Yesterday, 18 February, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community with an FPV drone in the morning. Later, at 14:48, another FPV drone strike targeted the city of Ochakiv. No casualties were reported.

Odesa oblast

During the night of 19 February, russia launched a massive drone attack on Odesa and the surrounding area. Ukraine’s southern air defense forces shot down 19 “Shahed” drones and other types of UAVs over Odesa oblast.

As a result of the attack, civilian infrastructure was damaged, including a children’s clinic, a kindergarten, windows in apartment buildings, and private cars. Four people, including a child, were injured and hospitalized in moderate condition.

Parts of Odesa region are experiencing localized emergency power outages due to the russian assault. As of the morning, energy workers restored electricity to nearly 15,000 households by switching them to backup lines where possible. Critical infrastructure is operating on generators. In Odesa’s Kyivskyi district, heating was temporarily suspended for some residents. Centers of Invincibility have been opened, and emergency services are actively working to address the consequences. Law enforcement is documenting yet another russian war crime against Odesa’s civilian population.

Kherson oblast

This morning, russian forces shelled residential areas in Bilozerka, causing damage to roofs, walls, and windows of private homes, as well as the local medical clinic.

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported civilian casualties from previous russian attacks. A 55-year-old woman was killed in a strike on Kindiika. A 57-year-old woman died in an attack on the village of Vesele on 16 February.

Medical assistance was needed for a 49-year-old man injured by a russian drone strike in Antonivka yesterday. He suffered blast trauma, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to his arm and leg.

Two residents of Vesele were also hospitalized with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to their legs after being hit by a russian UAV.

Additionally, a 53-year-old man from the village of Rozlyv sought medical help after being wounded in a russian attack on 13 February. He was diagnosed with a blast injury and a concussion.

Overall, one person was killed and six others wounded in Kherson oblast due to russian aggression. russian forces targeted Kherson, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Stanislav, Poniativka, Zelenivka, Pryozerne, Komyshany, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Zolota Balka, Sukhanove, Burhunka, and Vesele in Kakhovka region. The attacks damaged 15 structures, including three apartment buildings, eight private homes, a warehouse, a garage, a vehicle, and a utility building.

In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces eliminated 175 russian troops in the south and destroyed 55 units of russian military equipment and weaponry. They also demolished 32 shelters/bunkers, two vehicle shelters, two observation posts, and an ammunition storage site.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA held a meeting with a delegation from the UNICEF regional office. They discussed the development of Resilience Centers, community participation in grant competitions and the creation of a transit hub for children in Kovel.

Zakarpattia oblast

A working trip of the deputies of the regional council to the partner region of Vysocina Region (the Czech Republic) took place. They discussed future humanitarian visits of Czech partners to the oblast, as well as new initiatives in various directions and industries.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council held a meeting with Oksana Vynnytska-Yusypovych, Honorary Consul of Canada. Cooperation and support were discussed.

The oblast sent 4 cars worth UAH 4.5m to servicemen of the 7th Separate Rapid Response Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where residents of the Carpathians also serve. They were purchased with funds raised during the 7th charity auction.

Lviv oblast

The RMA was allocated UAH 85m for the needs of the military, thanks to the Secure Lviv Oblast regional program. In total, UAH 152m has already been allocated to support the defense forces since the beginning of the year.

An exhibition dedicated to Derzhprom, a unique architectural monument of Kharkiv, has opened in Lviv UNESCO Cultural Hub. Recall that at the beginning of the russian invasion, Derzhprom suffered three strikes due to air and missile attacks, which caused significant damage to the building. The purpose of the exhibition is to draw attention to the need to preserve this iconic building and include it on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Lviv City Hall posthumously awarded with the Honorary Badge of St. George to Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred from Lviv and Lviv oblast. The awards were received by the families of 18 Heroes.

Every year on 20 February, Ukraine honors the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. On this occasion, Lviv will provide material assistance to the families of the deceased. This year, the amount of financial support has been increased to UAH 6,000.

Rivne oblast

Representatives of Klevan community visited Kochubeyiv community, Kherson oblast, as part of the project Side by Side: United Communities. The cooperation between them is long-standing, because back in 2023, communities of Rivne oblast provided subsidies from the local budget, which were aimed at restoration work in the settlements of Kochubeyiv community. Then, builders from Rivne oblast restored 178 private houses in a year.

Ternopil oblast

From 20 February, 2025, transport will be stopped in Ternopil oblast during a minute of silence. In the event of an air raid warning, the algorithm of actions in case of threat and emergency situations will be followed.

The RMA reported that 12 servicemen will receive UAH 15,000 each for treatment and rehabilitation, for a total amount of UAH 180,000.

The RMA reported that as of 18 February 2025, according to the Unified Information Base, there are 65,148 IDPs in territorial communities of Ternopil oblast.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society have produced over 1,200 signs to mark shelters and have already begun handing them over to local governments. The production work is ongoing, and in the coming months all shelters will be provided with signs that meet the requirements of international humanitarian law.

In Khmelnytskyi, 104 servicemen in need of rehabilitation will receive assistance. The total amount of assistance is over UAH 1.4m.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Chinese Association of Small and Medium-sized Businesses. They discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of agricultural product processing, ensuring the storage of vegetables and fruits, supplying energy equipment, cooperation in transport and logistics and other areas.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The EU agreed on the 16th package of sanctions against the russian federation. It will be officially introduced on 24 February.

The Dutch parliament has passed a resolution on a possible peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. The majority of the lower house of parliament voted in favor of the resolution, which asks the government to take a constructive position on participation in a post-war peacekeeping force in Ukraine.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office, met with Keith Kellogg, US President’s Special Representative for Ukraine and russia. They paid particular attention to how the war should end, as this factor will be crucial not only for Ukraine, but also for global security.

The 2nd round of the Ukraine-EU dialogue on security and defense was held in Brussels. The delegations were led by Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Charles Friese, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service for Peace, Security and Defense. The key topic of the meeting was bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defense, the implementation of common security commitments between Ukraine and the EU.
