It has been the 1471  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:

Since the beginning of the day, the number of attacks by the Russian aggressor has reached 56.

The enemy is shelling border areas. Today, settlements in the Sumy region—Bachivsk, Bezsalivka, Rohizne, Ryzhivka, Kysla Dubyna, Budky, Khodyne, Kharkivka, Korenok, Esman, Novovasylivka, Yastrubshchyna, Volfyne, and Neskuchne—were affected. The enemy also shelled Kostobobriv in the Chernihiv region.

In the North Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out one airstrike, dropping three guided bombs, and conducted 76 attacks on settlements and positions of our troops, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the South Slobozhansky and Kupiansk directions, no enemy offensive actions have been recorded so far.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attempts by the invaders to advance toward the settlements of Cherneshchyna, Drobysheve, and Lyman.

In the Sloviansk direction, the aggressor attacked twice, near Yampol and Platonivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the invaders carried out 14 offensive actions in the areas of Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, and toward Illinivka and Stepanivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have tried 14 times to push our defenders from their positions in the settlements of Rodynske, Kotlyne, Novomykolaivka, and toward Bilytske, Novooleksandrivka, and Novopavlivka. Two attacks are still ongoing.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Over the past 24 hours, 118 combat engagements have been recorded.

In the South Slobozhansky direction, the enemy made one attempt to break through the defensive lines of our defenders near the settlement of Hrafyske.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched three attacks in the areas of Pishchane, Kurylivka, and Kivsharivka.

As of early March, the situation near Vovchansk has not changed significantly; however, the pace of the Russian offensive has slowed compared to previous months. According to the spokesperson of the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Trehubov, this may be related to a pause before a possible spring offensive, as well as communication issues within Russian troops due to the lack of Starlink. Another factor is the warming weather—the Vovcha River no longer has ice, which previously allowed Russian forces to cross more quickly.

Residential buildings, a medical facility, and an administrative building were damaged during a Russian attack on Kamiana Yaruga in the night of March 5, according to Chuhuiv city mayor Halyna Minaieva. As a result of the attack, a 48-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man were injured. Additionally, a 62-year-old woman experienced an acute stress reaction. The most severe damage occurred to the cat shelter—the quarantine area housing animals with illnesses. Some of these animals had been evacuated from the combat zone by the military, volunteers, and civilians leaving the area. Half of the shelter’s territory was damaged.

At the municipal shelter in Kharkiv, the aftermath of a Russian drone strike on the night of March 5 is being addressed. No animals were physically injured by the attack. Some animals exhibited acute stress reactions, while others sustained minor injuries to their mouths, including chipped teeth and torn gums. As spokesperson Maria Kutsenko explained, these are likely self-inflicted injuries.

Around midnight, a Russian UAV attacked the settlement of Zolochiv, reported the community head Viktor Kovalenko. According to him, the attack damaged a production facility; no people were injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons across the Kharkiv region:

▪️17 UAVs of the “Geran-2” type;
▪️1 UAV of the “Molniya” type;
▪️39 UAVs (type being determined).

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:

More than 5,000 homes, worth a total of 10 billion hryvnias, have been purchased in the Kharkiv region by owners of destroyed housing under the “eVidnovlennia” program, according to the press service of the Regional Military Administration.

Over the past week, more than 38 hectares of territory in the Kharkiv region have been cleared of explosives. Explosive ordnance disposal teams inspected nearly 1 hectare of agricultural land, over 800 meters of roads, about 3 hectares of forest, more than 1 kilometer of power lines, over 7 kilometers of gas pipelines, and also cleared three private properties. Donetsk oblast

On the night of March 4, Ukrainian forces struck ammunition depots, fuel and lubricant stocks, and support facilities of the Russian army in Donetsk region—in the areas of Nyzhnia Krinka, Chystiakove, Mariupol, Amvrosiivka, and Pokrovsk—according to the Special Operations Forces (SSO) and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The day before, Russian troops carried out 15 attacks along the Kostiantynivka direction, near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka, the General Staff reported.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 22 assaults over the past 24 hours, and another six in the Sloviansk direction.

Russian forces are intensifying pressure on Hryshyne, attempting to advance from the north and south to disrupt Defense Forces logistics and create conditions for a possible encirclement of the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration. The invaders are actively deploying infantry using cars, motorcycles, and buggies, and are employing artillery, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. Ukrainian paratroopers are shooting down “Shahed,” “Orlan,” ZALA, and other drones. Due to challenging logistics, troop rotations are conducted on foot, evacuations are carried out using robotic systems, and ammunition and water are delivered via large quadcopters. The situation is complicated by the lack of “green zones,” making any movement highly visible from the air.

Paratroopers of the 25th Sichivska Brigade and rangers of the 68th Brigade conducted a 12-hour evacuation of a comrade using the NRC “Bizon.” The pilot had partially lost a leg after stepping on a Russian mine and was unable to move independently. The evacuation route covered 24 km under mine threat and swarms of FPV drones. During the operation, “Bizon” was struck by a drone, cutting off communication with the wounded soldier. Later, the commander received a call: the soldier managed to jump out of the capsule and reach the 68th Brigade’s position. The rangers completed the evacuation and delivered the fighter to a stabilization point.

At night, Russian forces shelled Sloviansk using a “Geran-2” UAV. There were no casualties. Damaged infrastructure included a boiler house, a car service station, a childcare facility, a store, private houses, three apartment buildings, eight cars, and trolleybuses, reported the head of the Regional Military Administration, Vadym Liakh.

On March 4, the police recorded 1,360 Russian strikes along the front line and on residential areas of the region.

Eight settlements came under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk; the urban-type settlements of Vodyanske and Rayhorodok; and the villages of Iverske and Osykove.

A total of 46 civilian facilities were damaged, including 38 residential buildings.

In Kostiantynivka, Russians dropped a 500-kg bomb, killing two civilians and destroying a five-story building.

One person was injured in Rayhorodok.

Mykolaivka endured six strikes, resulting in damage to one apartment building, two private houses, and three civilian vehicles.

Due to the deteriorating security situation in Mykolaivka, a special team “White Angels,” together with the patrol police, evacuated six people—four women and two children. The youngest evacuee was 4 years old, the oldest 91. According to the mother of four-year-old Artem, the city is dangerous due to drones and guided aerial bombs, making the evacuation necessary.

During a prisoner exchange on March 5, two servicemen from the Donetsk Border Detachment, who had been held captive since 2022, returned, reported Lieutenant Colonel and head of the press service of the Donetsk Border Detachment, Ihor Lyzohub.

Thirty-nine residents of Donetsk region were evacuated in the “zero car” of the Lozova–Lviv train. Among them were 10 people with reduced mobility, children, 5 dogs, and 7 cats, according to Ukrzaliznytsia.

Luhansk oblast

Today, 200 servicemen returned from Russian captivity, including 17 border guards, two of whom were from the Luhansk Border Detachment — “Revenge” Brigade, reported the 3rd Border Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhenii Pikus — “Revenge” Brigade.

Over the past day, Russian forces made nine attempts to advance in the Lyman and Sloviansk directions. They were looking for weak points in the Ukrainian defense near seven settlements. In Luhansk region, the invaders struck 11 times with mortars and twice with automatic grenade launchers. Ten drones of various types carried out enemy missions.

For the implementation of youth civil education projects, the Russian state budget provides grants of 70 million rubles. Each non-profit organization can claim 2.5 million rubles if the proposed project covers one of five directions. Two of these — “Helping Our Own” and “Building Character” — are directly related to the war. They involve supporting Russian military personnel, military-sports youth education, and increasing interest among boys and girls in UAV development.

The emergency medical service in occupied Luhansk is finding reasons not to respond to calls from Novodruzhesk. Dispatchers try to refuse calls every time, even if contact is possible via the local mobile network. The city has been forgotten by Russia.
