On 2 April, there were a total of 213 combat engagements.
The adversary launched 36 airstrikes and dropped 119 guided aerial bombs (KABs). Additionally, the enemy utilized 3,545 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,822 shellings of settlements and Ukrainian troops’ positions.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, three combat engagements occurred today. The enemy conducted 76 shellings of our positions and settlements, including three involving multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Towards Southern Sloboda, the adversary assaulted Ukrainian units’ positions five times in the vicinity of Starytsia and Veterynarne.
Towards Kupiansk, our defenders successfully repelled seven enemy assaults toward Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Novoosynove.
Towards Lyman, the adversary attempted to advance eight times near Nadiia, Novoserhiivka, Novoiehorivka, Stavky, Lyman, and Drobysheve. Three combat engagements are ongoing.
Towards Sloviansk, Ukrainian warriors repelled four occupier assaults in the areas of Rai-Oleksandrivka and Platonivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy conducted no attacks.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 15 enemy assaults near Kostiantynivka, Berestok, Stepanivka, Kleban-Byk, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, Novopavlivka, and Mykolaipillia. One more combat engagement is ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy carried out 49 attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance in the areas of Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, Molodetske, Filiia, and toward Bilytske, Shevchenko, Novopidhorodne, and Novopavlivka. Two combat engagements are still ongoing. According to preliminary estimates, 92 occupiers were killed and 43 wounded in this sector. One artillery system, seven vehicles, two units of special equipment, a motorcycle, and two personnel shelters were destroyed. Damaged equipment includes an armored fighting vehicle, an artillery system, a gun, five vehicles, and 53 personnel shelters. Furthermore, 157 UAVs of various types were either destroyed or suppressed.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the occupiers attempted to improve their positions 21 times, attacking near Oleksandrohrad, Sichneve, Vorone, Krasnohirske, and toward Ivanivka, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sosnivka, Stepove, Vyshneve, and Verbove. Kolomiitsi and Katerynivka sustained airstrikes.
Towards Huliaipole, there were 37 occupier attacks near Olenokostiantynivka, Staroukrainka, Pryluky, Varvarivka, Zaliznychne, Sviatopetrivka, Myrne, Zelene, Huliaipilske, and Charivne. Liubytske and Vozdvyzhivka were hit by enemy airstrikes. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defenders’ positions 13 times in the areas of Mali Shcherbaky, Shcherbaky, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, and toward Novodanylivka, Lukianivske, and Prymorske. The adversary launched airstrikes on Omelnyk, Shyroke, Kopani, Rivne, Novoselivka, Orikhiv, and Preobrazhenka.
Towards Kherson, Ukrainian warriors repelled two enemy assault actions toward the Antonivka Bridge.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation have occurred.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Over the past 24 hours, there were 146 combat engagements in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops assaulted Defense Forces positions four times near Starytsia, Vovchansk, and Krasne Pershe. Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers launched 12 attacks in the areas of Kurylivka, Borivska Andriivka, Pishchane, Kivsharivka, Novoplatonivka, and Novoosynove.
In the Lozova district, a strike on the village of Lymanivka injured three children—girls aged 12 and 14, and a 15-year-old girl. They were diagnosed with concussions; however, hospitalization was not required. Preliminary data suggests russians utilized a Geran-3 type UAV.
In Solonytsivka community, a man was killed during the shelling of the village of Polova. Initially, a woman and a 12-year-old boy were reported injured, but the number of casualties later rose to six, with two individuals hospitalized.
russian forces also attacked Kharkiv with Shahed type strike drones. In the Kyivskyi district, a hit on a residential building caused a fire on the second and third floors and partially damaged the building’s structure. Two women, aged 61 and 52, were reported injured. Another strike in the same district set approximately ten cars on fire; no casualties were reported from this specific incident.

On the morning of April 2, russian forces attacked Odnorobivka and Ivashky in the Zolochiv community; no injuries were reported. At approximately 05:00, a Molniya drone struck the roof of a private house in Odnorobivka, damaging the residence, outbuildings, and the power grid. Around 07:30, FPV drones struck Ivashky, causing a two-story building to catch fire and destroying two apartments.
Also this morning, russians attacked Liutivka with two Molniya drones. The strike hit a Humanitarian Aid Center; no one was injured. According to local authorities, the village has been under attack for nine consecutive days.
In Husarivka, Barvinkove community, a UAV strike damaged the rolling stock of a train; there were no injuries.
In Kharkiv, following a previous strike on a high-rise building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, an apartment on the ninth floor was effectively destroyed. The building is currently being inspected to determine its suitability for further use.
In Chuhuiv, a drone attack damaged the entrance of a four-story building: four apartments were completely destroyed, and several other houses sustained damage. Rescuers fought a fire covering approximately 300 square meters for nearly four hours. Thirteen people lived in the affected section; they are all receiving assistance and processing compensation.
As a result of Russian strikes, two settlements in the Malodanylivka community were left without electricity—power supply is expected to be restored shortly.
Additionally, Russians struck a high-rise building with a drone: a 52-year-old woman was injured, and a 75-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. Apartments and glazing in neighboring buildings were also damaged.

On the night and morning of April 2, russian troops attacked the Derhachi community. In Derhachi, a drone struck a commercial infrastructure facility, damaging the roof and premises. In Ruska Lozova, a drone hit a sidewalk, damaging a private house. No injuries were reported.
Over the past 24 hours, russian strikes targeted Kharkiv and 13 other settlements in the region. One person was killed, and four were injured. A man died in the village of Metalivka. In Kharkiv, two women suffered acute stress reactions, and in Chuhuiv, two women were wounded.
russians attacked Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones. Across the region, they deployed KABs, Geran-2, Lancet, and Molniya drones, as well as FPV drones and unidentified UAVs.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged. In Kharkiv, an apartment building, cars, and an enterprise were hit. In the Bohodukhiv district, an agricultural enterprise, an educational institution, and transport were affected. In the Izium district, railway infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged. In the Kharkiv district, a house and power grids were hit. In the Lozova district, a preschool education facility was damaged. In the Chuhuiv district, residential buildings, outbuildings, a garage, and a car were affected.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 194 people in the last 24 hours. A total of 26,120 evacuees have been registered there.
Donetsk oblast
During April 1, nearly 50 battles took place towards Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka, according to the General Staff. Towards Kostiantynivka, russian troops carried out 17 attacks, while towards Pokrovsk, the Defense Forces repelled 31 assaults.
The Ukrainian military used drones to eliminate russian occupiers at a checkpoint near Pokrovsk in the direction of occupied Selydove.
The higher military command is currently analyzing an operation conducted by the “Skelya” assault regiment in the Hryshyne area; an official internal investigation is underway.
In Sofiivka, near Kramatorsk, a russian drone attack ignited a fire, injuring one person and damaging seven private houses.
In total, russia launched 1,584 strikes across Donetsk oblast over the past 24 hours. Eleven settlements came under fire, resulting in three injuries and damage to 19 civilian objects, including nine residential buildings.

Russians attacked Kramatorsk with 11 drones of various types. One person was injured, and the strikes damaged four apartment buildings, one private house, a hotel-restaurant complex, and a civilian vehicle.
In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, the occupiers dropped two KAB-250 guided aerial bombs. A civilian was injured, and a private house was damaged.
Another person was injured in Rai-Oleksandrivka, where a private residence was also damaged. In Sloviansk, Russians struck with a Geran-2 drone and an FPV drone, damaging a private house, two administrative buildings, and a service center. In Vesela Hora, two private houses were damaged, and in Maiaky, a civilian car was hit.
Service dogs continue to assist law enforcement in Donetsk Oblast despite the proximity of the front line. They are involved in searching for suspects, weapons, and drugs, and they work at demining sites, under rubble, and in the search for missing persons. Donetsk Oblast Police reported that throughout 2025 and the first three months of 2026, service dogs helped solve 82 crimes, including the murder of a police officer in Sloviansk on March 19.

Luhansk oblast
Over the past day, Russian troops launched ten assaults towards Lyman and Sloviansk, with combat occurring near four settlements. According to the General Staff of the AFU, Ukrainian Defense Forces maintain their positions within the Luhansk region.
The occupiers continue to shell the region using a variety of weaponry. Over the past 24 hours, they conducted seven mortar strikes, used automatic grenade launchers twice, deployed multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and targeted Ukrainian positions with 19 UAVs and FPV drones.
Discontent with the Russian banking system is rising in the so-called “LPR.” The number of formal complaints has increased by 75.5% over the past year. Residents primarily cite the unlawful blocking of bank cards, poor service quality, and a severely limited range of available financial services.
At the beginning of April, Luhansk saw a significant intensification of forced mobilization efforts. The number of street patrols has increased, the central bus station has been partially cordoned off, and men—particularly those under the age of 30—are subject to rigorous identity and document checks in public spaces.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
2 April marks the fourth anniversary of the de-occupation of Kyiv oblast. Through the joint efforts of the Defence Forces, volunteers and local residents, the russian army was forced to retreat and the oblast was liberated. Fierce fighting lasted 38 days. The russians left behind ruins, torture chambers and graves. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, during the occupation russians killed 1,370 residents of Kyiv oblast, 714 of whom were tortured.
International partners, including Massachusetts General Hospital and Global Response Medicine, visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ mental health centre in Kyiv. . The focus was on sharing expertise and developing cooperation in the field of rehabilitation. The system encompasses diagnosis, treatment, prevention and social support, helping patients return to an active life. During the visit, the international partners also met with servicemen undergoing rehabilitation following injuries, learning about their stories and the stages of their recovery.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that the capital community had handed over a further 3,000 UAVs of various types to soldiers of the 12th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Land Forces. Specifically, 1,500 FPV drones, 1,000 fibre-optic drones and 500 interceptor drones.
The City Council announced that a digital calendar of events for veterans and their families is being created in Kyiv. The service is intended to consolidate information on events available in the capital and provide convenient and quick access to opportunities in the fields of sport, culture, education and leisure.

These were purchased by Kyiv from Turkey as part of a financial agreement with the European Investment Bank under the ‘Urban Public Transport in Ukraine’ project. A total of 80 such buses are now operating across the city. Kyiv is set to receive a further five buses in the coming days.
Zhytomyr oblast
Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, has announced that the first critical infrastructure enterprise in Zhytomyr oblast has established air defence units to protect against russian attacks. Such a unit has now been set up at JSC Zhytomyroblenergo – its personnel are on combat duty and carrying out tasks to protect the region’s airspace. The possibility of creating such units is provided for by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which has refined the procedure for implementing a pilot project involving air defence groups. All units operate in coordination with the military command and are integrated into a unified air defence system.
At Malyn Vocational College, in partnership with Husqvarna Ukraine, a global leader in the manufacture of power tools, has launched vocational training for war veterans and combatants in the profession of ‘Repair Mechanic’, leading to the micro-qualification of ‘Power Tool Service Centre Technician’.
Sumy oblast
Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the City Military Administration, reported that during the day of 2 April, the russian army attacked Sumy by a UAV. The strike was recorded in Kovpakivskyi district. A Molniia UAV also fell in the city centre. The drone landed near a residential building and did not detonate. No casualties or fires were reported.
The State Emergency Service reported that overnight, Putyvl community came under attack by strike UAVs. As a result of a hit, a fire broke out in a residential area. The fire was extinguished.
Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the City Military Administration, said that on 1 April, russia struck Stetskivskyi starosta region of Sumy community by a UAV. The attack caused significant destruction to a house, and the occupants inside were injured.
According to local authorities, on the evening of 1 April, Herbera UAVs attacked the settlement of Mykolaivka. Outbuildings and a power line were damaged.
The Regional Military Administration informed that during 2 April, three people were injured in the oblast. In Bochechky community, two men aged 50 and 30, as well as a 55-year-old woman, were injured as a result of a UAV strike.
Between the morning of 1 April and the morning of 2 April, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 32 settlements across 17 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the past day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted for 23 hours and 32 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
- In Shostka community, non-residential premises, residential houses, a vehicle and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Hlukhiv community, apartment buildings, residential houses, an outbuilding and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, private residential houses and outbuildings were destroyed, and private residential houses and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Shalyhyne community, private residential houses were destroyed and residential houses were damaged;
- In Esman community, private residential houses were destroyed and a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house was destroyed and a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Bochechky community, a truck was destroyed and a warehouse premises was damaged;
- In Putyvl community, a civilian infrastructure facility and an outbuilding were damaged;
- In Vorozhba community, an apartment building and a private vehicle were damaged;
- In Sumy community, private households and vehicles were damaged.
Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that over the past month, more than 2,600 attacks on Sumy oblast were recorded: 495 air strikes, 472 UAV strikes, over 1,000 FPV drone strikes, more than 200 explosive drops from UAVs, over 300 artillery and mortar attacks, and two missile strikes. Sixteen civilians, including one child, were killed. A total of 190 people were injured, including eight children. In total, 138 private houses, 30 apartment buildings, as well as educational and healthcare institutions were damaged or destroyed.
Over the month, nearly 3,000 enemy UAVs were destroyed or suppressed in the skies over Sumy oblast. In total, around 4,200 were detected.
In the oblast, work continues to equip roads with anti-drone protection, with an additional 30 kilometres covered.
The Regional Military Administration announced that Sumy oblast has received five modern emergency medical vehicles. The fleet of the Regional Emergency Medical Centre has been replenished through cooperation with the organisation Project HOPE under a memorandum. The vehicles are fully equipped with modern medical equipment, allowing patients in critical condition to be stabilised during transportation and delivered quickly to hospitals.
Chernihiv oblast
Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv City Military Administration, said that during the day of 2 April, russian forces struck an enterprise in Chernihiv city by a ballistic missile. As a result of the attack, one person was killed, and a 17-year-old girl sustained blast injuries. The City Council later reported a second fatality.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 2 April, russian forces attacked Semenivka by an FPV drone. The attack caused a fire that destroyed a civilian vehicle.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during 1 April, russian forces attacked three border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Horodnia. The enemy carried out strikes using Herbera-type UAVs (3 explosions), FPV drones (10 explosions), and dropped an explosive device from a UAV (1 explosion). Eight settlements were under enemy fire.
According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, communities in Chernihiv oblast will be connected to a network of 20 cogeneration units, providing an additional 27.4 MW of electricity and 26.9 MW of heat. The government has allocated UAH 63m. for this purpose. The equipment is scheduled to be connected by 1 October.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that as a result of a massive UAV strike in Synelnykove, 1 person was killed. A 42-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were injured. An administrative building and a shopping centre caught fire. 4 multi-apartment buildings, 6 private houses, 7 outbuildings, a transport enterprise, 10 buses and vehicles were damaged.
russian forces attacked Nikopol, Tomakivka, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities by FPV drones and Grad MLRS. An agricultural enterprise was damaged. Due to evening attacks, another private house and 4 outbuildings were damaged.
In Pavlohrad, a fire broke out as a result of an enemy attack.
In Petropavlivka community, a truck caught fire following a UAV strike, and one person was killed. In Mezhova community, an 83-year-old man was killed by an FPV drone. Pokrovske community was hit by a KAB, causing a private house to catch fire. 5 houses and a vehicle were damaged. Also, Slovianska community was attacked by UAVs, resulting in a fire and damage to an agricultural enterprise In Nikopol, a 54-year-old woman was injured in the evening. Overall, russian forces attacked the regional centre, Pokrovske rural, Marhanets, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. In Zelenodolsk community, a house was damaged. In Pavlohrad, a UAV strike damaged an infrastructure facility.
Poltava oblast
Residents of Poltava oblast Mykola Oliinyk and Yevhenii Ohonovskyi were killed in the war. Soldier Mykola Oliinyk and Senior Soldier Yevhenii Ohonovskyi defended Ukraine during the full-scale invasion. Memorial ceremonies were held on 2 April.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, stated that air defence forces shot down 2 russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast. It was reported that another person was injured as a result of yesterday’s attack, specifically in Zolotonosha region. The man had been near the site where a UAV detonated. He sought medical assistance in the evening and was hospitalised.

The oblast received 50 electric scooters for veterans, 100 charging stations for their families, and 300 food kits for those in need thanks to Hope for Ukraine in conjunction with the Good Samaritan charity. The total cost of the shipment is over $137,000.
Rivne oblast
In Kostopil Forestry, a Forest of Memory was laid in honor of the fallen Hero Vadym Plyushch. Before the full-scale war, he worked as a forestry engineer, and later joined the defense of Ukraine. He was killed in August 2023. He is survived by his wife Yuliia and 2 sons. Forests of Memory is an all-Ukrainian initiative of the State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine, which is designed to honor fallen workers. This is the second such forest in Rivne oblast and the fourth in the Polissya branch, which lost 25 of its colleagues.
Ternopil oblast
About 800 participants in the fighting in Ternopil have already taken advantage of the opportunity and activated free parking through the mobile application e-Ternopil. Starting 23 March, participants in the fighting in Ternopil will be able to receive 100 free hours of parking in the city every month. Khmelnytskyi oblast

Chernivtsi oblast
At the beginning of the full-scale war, Chernivtsi oblast sheltered over 110,000 IDPs. Currently, there are almost 72,000 IDPs registered in the oblast.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The EU has proposed to allocate €45bn to Ukraine as part of a large-scale €90bn loan. The funds are planned to be allocated by the end of 2026 and directed to budget support and defense procurement in 2026-2027, in particular drones. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stressed that the EU intends to fulfill its promise regarding the loan. After approval by the EU Council, they promise to quickly allocate the first tranche. The entire amount of the loan remains blocked due to the veto of Hungary.
