It has been the 742nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

During the day of March 6, there were 76x combat engagements.

The enemy launched a total of 5x missile and 75x air strikes, carried out 65x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in wounded civilians. Residential private and apartment buildings, as well as other infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increasing the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Kam’yanka (Sumy oblast) and Kozacha Lopan’ (Kharkiv oblast). More than 30x settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Yeline, Kostobobriv (Chernihiv oblast), Stara Huta, Mykolaivka, Basivka, Oleksandrivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Kozacha Lopan’, Ambarne (Kharkiv oblast).

Kupiansk axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3x attacks in the vicinity of Tabaivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 20x settlements, including Zapadne, Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kotlyarivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 7x assaults near Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Spirne (Donetsk oblast), where the adversary, with air support, made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 15x settlements, including Makiivka, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, Serebrianka (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 11x attacks in the vicinities of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made attempts to improve their tactical situation. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Stupochky, New York (Donetsk oblast). More than 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, Andriivka (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 20x attacks in the vicinities of Berdychi, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Nevel’s’ke (Donetsk oblast). The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Pokrovsk, Netailove (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15x settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Pervomaiske, Nevel’s’ke (Donetsk oblast).

Novopavlivka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the invaders, with air support, made 18x attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The adversary launched air strikes near Krasnohorivka, Vodyane, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 20x settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast).

Orikhiv axis: the adversary conducted 4x unsuccessful attacks in the vicinity of Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast), Novodarivka, Chervone (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 15x settlements, including Malynivka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka, Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Odesa operational-strategic group, Prydniprovske (Kherson) axis: the adversary conducted no offensives.

More than 30x settlements, including the city of Kherson, Zolota Balka, L’vove, Antonivka, Stanislav (Kherson oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

During the day of March 6, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 7x concentrations of enemy troops.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1x ammunition depot, 4x artillery systems of russian invaders.


Ukrainian-made men and women bulletproof vests and bulletproof suits have been certified by the Ministry of Defence. Ukrainian Armour was the first company to receive this certification for all its main products and also for a helmet designed specifically for the Ministry. Earlier, the company presented the first Ukrainian-made anatomical body armour for women, Ruta Liuta.

In Crimea, 1,288 religious organisations have disappeared in 10 years. Ukraine has submitted evidence of persecution and pressure on religious communities in Crimea to the International Criminal Court. Law enforcers have documented at least 93 cases of persecution of representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Muslims, Protestants and other members of religious communities. The russian occupation authorities on the peninsula are aiming to erase religious identities that do not meet kremlin’s requirements.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 70 russian attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. There were 62 battles towards Avdiivka and Novopavlivka.

Kharkiv oblast

As a result of the hostile shelling of Borova village, 1 person was killed and 7 injured, including three underage boys. According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, a 70-year-old local was killed. The aftermath is under investigation. A 73-year-old civilian got injuries from the debris, a 44-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries and a 24-year-old woman was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction. Three boys aged 12 to 16 years old sustained mild to moderate injuries, an 18-year-old boy sustained a shrapnel wound. Medical assistance is being provided to all the injured.

About 20 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered enemy artillery and mortar attacks: Zapadne, Stepova Novoselivka, Kotliarivka and others. The enemy launched airstrikes on Kyslivka and Mytrofanivka.

At 1:32 am, the enemy attacked Martove village, Chuhuiv region, by seven UAVs but some of them were shot down by air defence forces. The building of the educational institution was hit. There were no casualties.

At 3:10 pm, the invaders attacked Synelnykove village, Chuhuiv region. There was no information on casualties.

At 2:46 pm, the enemy attacked the building of an educational institution  in Pershotravneve village, Izium region. There were no casualties.

At 11:53 am, the enemy shelled Vovchansk and as a result, a private house was on fire. There was no information on casualties.

At 10 am, Kurylivka village, Kupiansk region, was shelled  and as a result, a 58-year-old woman was killed.

The enemy did not conduct any offensive actions towards Kupiansk yesterday.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 17.94 hectares of territory and destroyed 278 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

Pavlo Chernov, First Deputy Head of Oskil Village Council, informed that the mine danger remains high in Oskil community, Izium region, and some settlements have no gas and electricity due to shelling. Despite this, residents have returned to the destroyed villages.

Three communities in Kharkiv oblast have joined the Assistance to Communities in Organising Effective Territorial Management USAID AGRI programme. Pisochyn, Rohan and Solonytsivka communities signed a memorandum of understanding on further cooperation within the project.

Donetsk oblast

Netailove of Ocheretyne community were under attack at 9:20 am and as a result, a 63-year-old woman received a fatal wound and died on the way to hospital.

The press service of Donetsk police reported that during the day, russian troops struck the oblast 1475 times. 9 settlements were attacked: Hirnyk, Krasnohorivka, Novohrodivka cities, Illinka, Ocheretyne settlements, Nykanorivka, Novomykhailivka, Rai-Oleksandrivka and Chervone villages.

The russian army shelled by aerial bombs, Iskander-M, Uragan, Grad MRLs and artillery.

15 civilian objects were damaged, including 8 residential buildings, a business building and power lines.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration towards Pokrovs, one person was killed and a house damaged in Krasnohorivka. Zhelanne of Ocheretyne community was hit by a missile attack, damaging houses. In Kurakhove community, a house in Hostre and 3 more in Illinka were damaged. 6 buildings were damaged in Novohrodivka. Also russians launched 4 missiles at Pokrovsk, injuring a man and damaging 11 apartment buildings, 3 private houses and 3 administrative buildings.

Towards Kramatorsk, a house was damaged in Chervone of Kostiantynivka community and the outskirts of Lyman community shelled. 7 houses were damaged in Rai-Oleksandrivka of Mykolaivka community.

Towards Bakhmut, 6 private houses and an apartment building were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. 2 houses were damaged in Siversk.

In total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 10 times at the settlements of Donetsk region over the day. 207 people, including 60 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Police brought humanitarian aid to Vuhledar. There are still 108 residents in the town, mostly living underground.  To feed them and evacuate three people, the police crew overcame a number of challenges: a destroyed road under the attack of two enemy drones and shelling.

Police evacuated two families with children from Toretsk community. The first family lived on the first floor of an apartment building. For the past year and a half, the child has lived almost without fresh air as it is scary to leave the apartment because of the shelling. The other family of a boy with a disability, his father and grandmother lived in Druzhba village and was the last to stay on a street destroyed by russians, 2 kilometres from the frontline.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, a house was destroyed as a result of artillery shelling in Makiivka. There are still people in this settlement and they are being encouraged to leave, and will be helped to do so if they agree.

Russians actively used aviation on Novoiehorivka. Bilohorivka was shelled by artillery and mortars.

Employees of the so-called state institutions and all family members of state employees of the “lpr” must be present at putin’s re-election. Those who are eligible to vote should, and everyone else should take a picture and join the flash mob by posting it on social media. This will also be monitored by interns. Namely, students of Luhansk Economics and Law Boarding Lyceum, who will be sent there to “protect public order”. Participation in the organisation of the elections will be counted as practice.

Roman Vlasenko, Head of Sievierodonetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that electronic voting in the so-called “lpr” is not expected in March. The russian military has already started voting in the occupied territories. It is cold in the houses as the invaders did not even manage to repair the heating system in Sievierodonetsk before the elections.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The death toll from the russian missile attack on Kyiv on February 7 has increased. A man, who was critically injured after a fire in a high-rise building in Holosiivskyi district, died in hospital. This is the 6th deceased from this building. Earlier, the victim’s daughter died from her injuries in this hospital. They were both in an extremely difficult condition.

According to Kyiv RMA, UNICEF and 9 communities of Kyiv oblast signed Memorandums of Cooperation. The signing of the agreements will contribute to the provision of comprehensive social, medical, educational, child protection services and basic services, including water supply and sanitation, for children and families affected by russian armed aggression until 2026. The signing of the Memorandums took place within the framework of the work of the Regional Office of International Cooperation.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, reported that in Irpin and Horenka, the reconstruction of five multi-story buildings destroyed during the full-scale russian invasion has been inspected. The International Organization for Migration, with whom cooperation began last year, is assisting in their restoration.

According to Oleksandr Markyshin, Mayor of Irpin, the completion of major repairs in two multi-story buildings is planned by the end of the year. Additionally, the construction of a new building on the site of the demolished one, which absorbed the first russian airstrikes on Irpin at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, is also planned. The project is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) through the Reconstruction Credit Institute (KfW).

Four military personnel from Bucha community were posthumously awarded the Order For Courage of the III degree. Their families received state awards.

School students from Makariv community in Kyiv oblast have received a new school bus through the cooperation with the Restoration of Local Schools for Sustainability initiative. This will help students reach educational institutions quickly, safely, and comfortably, making the learning process more convenient and organized.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to Zhytomyr RMA, Commander Vitalii Makovskyi of the 115th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces was awarded the For Merits honorary distinction. The award was presented by Vitalii Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr RMA, during a working visit to Korosten. A microbus, generator and charging station were also provided for the brigade’s needs. 

Residents of the village of Verhivnia are purchasing drones, generators, and technical equipment to support the military. In addition, volunteers processed 205 pigs into canned meat and porridge, which were purchased through people’s donations.

In Zhytomyr, the Our Crimea. Spring of Hope exhibition has been opened, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the artist Mykola Maksymenko. The exhibition was organized by his wife, Valentyna Zabrodska, a distinguished Ukrainian journalist.

Sumy oblast

According to Sumy RMA, at night, the russian military attacked Sumy with Shahed UAV. There were 3 strikes in different parts of the city. One of them hit in the middle of the yard, between high-rise buildings. The victims were provided with the necessary medical assistance. The windows in the apartments were broken and several cars damaged. In the city, the operational headquarters of Sumy City Council began work on eliminating the consequences of the enemy attack on March 6.

As a result of the UAV hitting residential buildings in Sumy, seven people, among them a 10-year-old boy, were injured. Also, as a result of the attack, the apartments of citizens in 11 buildings and the building of a preschool educational institution were damaged.

On the night and morning of March 6, russians shelled 13 times of the border areas of the oblast. There were 47 hits by mortars and artillery. The communities of Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Sumy, Esman, Znob-Novhorodske, Seredyna-Buda came under attack.

According to Sumy RMA, on March 5, the russian military attacked Sumy oblast 37 times. There were 222 explosions. Yunakivka, Khotin, Bilopillia, Myropil, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Nova Sloboda, Shalyhyne, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, Druzhbivka communities came under attack. The enemy used mortars, artillery, anti-aircraft guns, dropped VOG from UAVs.

According to Sumy RMA, residents of Sumy oblast sent 12,683 informational reports to the Diia about damaged property as a result of the russian federation’s military aggression against Ukraine. Of them, 6,866 (54.1%) have already been processed by territorial communities.

Chernihiv oblast

It is reported that russian troops carried out 10 attacks on the border of Chernihiv oblast. 3 communities were under enemy attack: Novhorod-Siverskyi – 14 hits, Semenivka – 29 hits, Snovsk – 8 hits.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, reported that the roof of the drama theater in Chernihiv, which was destroyed after a russian missile attack, will be repaired with the money of French agency Expertise France. On March 4, Chernihiv oblast signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Expertise France French agency for international technical cooperation . In total, five million euros will be allocated for the restoration of communities, which will be directed to a number of projects for the restoration of the oblast.

Oleksandr Lomako, acting mayor of Chernihiv, reported that Chernihiv has allocated UAH 10 million to the North Territorial Defense Forces for sky defence. The city will also hand over 11 radio electronic warfare systems and spare parts for repairing wheeled equipment, purchased from the city budget, to the Ukrainian defenders.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening the occupiers attacked Nikopol region 3 times. They launched 2 kamikaze drones downtown and shelled Marhanets community with artillery. A power line was damaged. There were no casualties.

At night an enemy drone was shot down over Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

In the morning a private house caught on fire in Nikopol due to shelling. A 75-year-old woman was injured, she is under severe stress and will be treated at home. 6 houses, 3 outbuildings, a car and a power line were damaged.

Russians hit a shopping center in Nikopol. They used artillery. A large-scale fire broke out. There were 4 attacks on Nikopol region during the day, specifically 2 kamikaze drones and 2 artillery attacks.

Vinnytsia oblast

According to the City Council, Vinnytsia has begun to distribute regular aid to families of fallen defenders and large low-income families. This year the community’s budget allocates more than UAH 800 million for the assistance which is 27% of the funds that are not included in the protected items.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that together with engineers, builders and the military of Kirovohrad oblast continues to build fortifications in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Poltava oblast

Poltava oblast paid tribute to 52-year-old sergeant Volodymyr Turbaba, 32-year-old soldier Roman Tereshchenko, 36-year-old soldier Mykhailo Yaremchuk and 49-year-old junior sergeant Viktor Zhymela.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that an attack UAV was shot down at night in Cherkasy oblast. There was neither damage nor casualties.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday the enemy launched 328 strikes on six cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian military targeted Malynivka, Huliaipole and Mala Tokmachka by seven air-to-surface missiles, shelled Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne by 21 MLRS and attacked Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Malynivka by 59 drones. There were 241 artillery strikes on the territories of Huliaipole, Robotyne, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Levadne. There have been 11 reports of residential buildings and infrastructure being destroyed.

The General Staff reported that the enemy attempted five unsuccessful attacks in the areas of Huliaipole, Malynivka and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

According to a report from American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), there are no confirmed changes in the front line towards Zaporizhzhia. Military actions are ongoing around Robotyne, particularly on the eastern and western outskirts of the village.

Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), met with russian president vladimir putin during his visit to Sochi, russia. Earlier, Grossi expressed his intention to discuss the future of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant with putin.

One of the organizers of the pseudo-elections was liquidated in Berdiansk. A blast occurred today in Koloniia neigborhood. According to available information, one of the organizers of the pseudo-elections in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk was liquidated.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration informed that at 10:23 am and 6:29 pm on March 5, the enemy shelled the waters of Ochakiv community by artillery. Also at 8:30 pm on March 5, enemy shelled the territory of Kutsurub community. There were no casualties. 

On March 5, an explosion occurred in the village of Bezimenne in Snihurivka community, injuring a man. According to the State Emergency Service, a local resident went to collect firewood and accidentally tripped over an explosive device. The man suffered a traumatic amputation of the left foot and shrapnel wounds to the thigh.

Odesa oblast

Volodymyr Zelenskyi, President of Ukraine, reported during his visit to Odesa that in the morning the russian army attacked Odesa, targeting port infrastructure. Five people were killed and others injured. At the time of the attack, the head of the state was in the port along with the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis. According to the Greek Prime Minister, the explosions occurred very close to them.

The “South” Operational Command said that during the night, the South once again experienced a massive drone attack. 20 out of 38 drones were shot down in the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces. Air defense forces shot down 18 Shahed drones over Odesa oblast. Debris from the drones damaged a gas pipeline and private buildings.

The city administration stated that the Japanese International Cooperation Agency held a working group meeting on the involvement of technical and technological support in the restoration and development of critical infrastructure in the city of Odesa. Attendees discussed Japan’s experience in post-disaster reconstruction and the implementation of projects for the development of Odesa’s urban infrastructure during full-scale war. 

Kherson oblast

The occupiers shelled Korabelnyi district in Kherson. A 45-year-old woman was injured in her own yard. She suffered a leg injury.

It was reported that russian forces also attacked Beryslav using drones. A couple residing there suffered explosive injuries and concussions.

Yesterday russian forces shelled 17 settlements in Beryslav and Kherson regions. Two people were injured due to russian aggression.

Kherson, Sadove, Antonivka, Blahovishchenske, Shyroka Balka, Bilozerka, Kizomys, Tokarivka, Dniprovske, Yantarne, Inzhenerne, Beryslav, Tiahynka, Mykhailivka, Lvove, Odradokamianka and Zolota Balka were under enemy shelling.

30 objects were damaged in Kherson oblast, including 10 apartment buildings, 10 private houses, a creativity center, an Invincibility Center, gas pipelines, a power line, garages and three cars, including two police vehicles.

A gas pipeline was damaged in Sadove and three private houses damaged in Bilozerka. The Invincibility Center was hit in Mykhailivka, and a private house and garage damaged in Kizomys. Two people were injured and 10 apartment buildings, one private house, a police car, a power line, a gas pipeline and a creativity center damaged in Kherson.

Consequences of enemy shelling in Kherson oblast

Later, Kherson RMA reported another person injured due to yesterday’s strikes in Kherson. A 76-year-old man, who was under attack yesterday at noon, suffered explosive injuries and a leg fracture.

Yesterday the russian army shelled Vesele almost twenty times. The enemy targeted the settlement with mortars, artillery and drones. A 66-year-old man suffered explosive injuries and leg wounds.

The “South” Operational Command reported that during the night, the Air Defense Forces shot down two russian Shahed-136/131 drones in Kherson oblast. 

Our units continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro river. Yesterday the enemy attempted three assaults without armored support. Irreversible and sanitary losses of the enemy on this front amounted to over 60 occupiers. After suffering such losses, the remnants of the enemy’s assault units withdrew to their original positions.

Confirmed enemy losses on the left bank amounted to 67 occupiers, 14 guns, including “Msta-B,” 2 radio-electronic warfare stations, including “Pole-21,” 1 tank, 1 mortar, 2 boats, and 18 units of armored vehicles. An enemy supply point, a night vision camera and a generator were destroyed.

The brigades of the Doctors Without Borders international organization continue their work in Kherson oblast. Over the past two days, doctors have conducted consultations in Dariivka, Zahorianivka, Taras Shevchenko, Inhulivka, Petrivka, Muzikivka and Bohdanivka. Doctors provided over 110 medical and psychological consultations. All assistance is provided free of charge.

Residents of Zmiivka received a hundred sets for emergency housing restoration. Volunteers from the Proliska humanitarian mission delivered building kits containing everything necessary for initial repair work. Thanks to this assistance, people will be able to partially repair their homes and prevent further destruction.

Camouflage nets are being made on the premises of one of the churches in Kherson. Also, volunteer fill pillows, sew covers for helmets and weapons there, and help local residents with food packages. The church has been supporting the military since 2014. Initially, they wove nets on their own, and later residents of Kherson joined.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that the military unit A 1910 received 2 DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise quadcopters and 2 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo quadcopters.

The 2nd separate rifle battalion from Volyn received a car from the Union of Disabled People of Chernobyl Volyn NGO. After loading with humanitarian cargo, the SUV will go to the front line.

Zakarpattia oblast

Oleksandr Svystun, soldier of the 3rd Separate Zakarpattia Assault Brigade, combat medic, and his family received a new home in Uzhhorod. Oleksandr is currently undergoing rehabilitation after severe injuries received in the battle against russian terrorists. He underwent prosthetics and is trying to return to a normal life.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The annotation board to Hero Vitalii Kushnir, machine gunner of the Edelveis 10th separate mountain assault brigade was opened on the facade of the professional college of restaurant service and tourism, where the hero studied. The hero was killed while performing a combat mission near the village of Bilohorivka.

Lviv oblast

The Birds of Victory charity project has raised 4 832 drones since last March. On the anniversary of the project, they plan to send the 5Kth drone to the front.

The RMA reported that the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigades named after King Danylo receive 100 combat FPV drones of Ukrainian production thanks to the Birds of Victory initiative.

Two defenders from Chervonohrad oblast received 20 drones and a EW system thanks to Chervonohrad RMA and the Help to Win CF.

German philanthropists, who are evacuating critically injured and sick children from Ukraine, visited Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital. Mark Friedrich, founder and CEO of AfK-Ambulance for Kids, and his team demonstrated a car specially equipped for transporting children, the equipment of which allows for blood analysis, mobile ultrasound, incubator, video laryngoscopy and much more. In addition to powerful equipment, this car has one more feature, it was painted inside by Ukrainian children from Prykarpattia.

Ivan Kurtiatnik, senior sergeant of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigades with call sign Santa from the village of Hrabovets, Strii region, was posthumously awarded with the Hero’s Cross order. He was killed on January 2, 2023 in a battle with the occupiers for the city of Soledar in Donetsk oblast.

Rivne oblast

The government allocated another UAH 500 mln for the construction of a new medical and rehabilitation building on the basis of Rivne Regional Hospital for War Veterans. This is funds from the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. The new building will house a reception-diagnostic and in-patient department with 100 beds, operating rooms and rehabilitation rooms. In addition, a spacious shelter will be built, and a helipad for the rapid transportation of patients will be built on the roof. Construction started last fall. In 2023, the Government decided to allocate UAH 100 mln. The total cost of the project is over UAH 1 bln 304 mln.

Ternopil oblast

330 Ternopil military personnel will receive financial aid (UAH 10K each) for equipment and technical means for a total of UAH 3,3 mln. Since the beginning of the year, 940 servicemen of Ternopil community have already received such assistance.

The RMA reported that they sent 5 DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters to the military thanks to the budget funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

At night, during an air alert, the air defense forces shot down 6 UAVs of the Shahed type in Khmelnytskyi oblast. The infrastructure object was damaged as a result of the attack. Several settlements remain without power. There is damage to the roof and ceiling of a private house. All relevant services are working. There were no casualties or injuries.

The RMA reported that the military of Khmelnytskyi received a powerful reinforcement with various equipment and electronics.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Brock Bierman, President and CEO of the Ukraine Focus CF. They discussed international humanitarian cooperation and assistance provided to Ukraine by partners.

The oblast received 70 wheelchairs from benefactors from the US. Wheelchairs will be given to those who need them: first of all, veterans and civilians who suffered from the war.

Nataliia Kalmykova, Deputy Minister of Defense, reported that the medical forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 500K first-aid kits. According to her, currently the key part of this aid is coming from Germany. And the first 50K sets have already been taken to the warehouses of the Ministry of Defense.

The European Commission presented a new defense and industrial strategy, which should transfer the EU economy to military rails and closely integrate Ukraine into it. As part of the new strategy, the EU should open a defense innovation office in Kyiv. The European Commission also proposes to switch to joint production and procurement within the Union. According to the new strategy, the EU must spend at least 50% of its defense budget within the Union by 2030 and 60% by 2035.

The Court of The Hague issued an arrest warrant for serhii kobylash, commander of russia’s long-range aviation, and viktor sokolov, commander of the black sea fleet. They are suspected of war crimes, specifically attacks on Ukrainian civilian objects with excessive harm to civilians and crimes against humanity. The court has reason to believe that the commanders bear personal responsibility for missile strikes on Ukraine from October 10, 2022 to at least March 9, 2023.

David Cameron, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, stated that the country is ready to lend all frozen russian assets to Ukraine. This may happen on the grounds that russia will still be forced to pay reparations to Ukraine after the war ends. This means that London will provide funds to Kyiv, but will ask to return it after the payment of reparations by russia.

In Bydgoszcz, Poland, the first meeting of the project team for the launch of JATEC (NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre), the first joint institution of NATO and Ukraine, took place.
