War in Ukraine today: latest news, February 17, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 359th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy launched 6 missile strikes on the civilian infrastructure of Kupiansk in Kharkiv oblast. 3 private houses and 1 multi-storey building were damaged. In addition, the enemy carried out a total of 10 air strikes and more than 10 MLRS attacks.

There remains a threat of further russian missile strikes throughout Ukraine.

The enemy focuses its main efforts on conducting offensive operations against Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk, suffering heavy losses in manpower.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy continues to keep certain units in the border areas with Ukraine, but its offensive groups have not been identified. At the training grounds of the republic of belarus, the training of russian troops continues. The enemy does not stop mortar and artillery shelling of the positions of our units, as well as settlements along the state border of Ukraine. Enemy shelling was carried out in the areas of Kolos, Chernihiv oblast; Mefedivka, Bachivsk, Kharkivka, Zarutske, Partizanske, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Atynske, Oleksiivka and Hrabovske, Sumy oblast, as well as Veterynarne, Strelecha, Vesele, Borysivka, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Tykhe, Okhrimivka, Nesterne and Obukhivka in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy shelled the settlements of Hrianykivka, Kucherivka, Krokhmalne and Berestove in Kharkiv oblast; Novoselivske, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Fedorivka and Rozdolivka in Donetsk oblast. There were air strikes near Krokhmalne, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Dubrova, Serebryansky forestry, Bilohorivka and Spirne.

Towards Bakhmut, more than 15 settlements were shelled, namely Vesele, Vasiukivka, Zaliznianske, Dobovo-Vasylivka, Berkhivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Klyshchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Niu York, Donetsk oblast. Also, the enemy launched an airstrike in Berkhivka.

Towards Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk, 17 settlements were affected by fire, namely Avdiivka, Vodiane, Vesele, Nevelske, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Bohoiavlenka, Velyka Novosielka, Zolota Nyva, Vuhledar and Neskuchne in Donetsk oblast. 

Towards Zaporizhzhia, 20 settlements were fired, namely Malynivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky and Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Mala Tokmachka and Novodanylivka were under the air strikes of the enemy.

Towards Kherson, the suburbs, the city of Kherson, and more than 25 settlements (Havrylivka, Dudchany, Beryslav, Vesele, Kozatske, Ivanovka, Inzhenerne, Dniprovske, Berehove and Veletenske of Kherson oblast) suffered from enemy shelling.

The enemy continues to suffer losses. Thus, in the settlement of Kalanchak, Kherson oblast, the occupiers established a military hospital in the Central Regional Hospital and brought 36 liquidated and 18 wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of the russian federation. 

Aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine inflicted 5 strikes on buildups of personnel and military equipment of the occupiers, and the position of the anti-aircraft missile system.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reports that Ukrainians have submitted 325 K messages to the Diia platform regarding the destruction or damage to their homes. Currently, the government is working on compensation for current repairs, capital and complete reconstruction of destroyed housing.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, states that in the indestructible city of Bakhmut, 6 K inhabitants still live. The Minister has called for emergency evacuation of residents due to heavy fighting in the city.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by russian invaders near the settlements of Hryanykivka and Sinkivka. At least 12 settlements (Vovchansk, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Kupyansk, Hryanikivka, etc.) came under enemy fire. The occupiers continue to focus their main efforts on the Kupiansk offensive. At least 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were shelled by russian troops during the day.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv RMA, at around 23:00 the previous day, seven missiles were launched from the territory of the russian federation towards Kharkiv oblast. Three explosions occurred directly in Kharkiv in the Osnovyansky and Kyivsky districts. The damage caused by the missiles was relatively minor. The blast wave damaged workshops of one of the enterprises. In the school, 28 windows were completely destroyed, 38 partially destroyed, and the roof and computer room also damaged. The third missile did not detonate.

At night, there were four explosions in the industrial zone of Kupyansk. According to the latest reports, there were no casualties. The work at the crash sites continues, but it is complicated by the fact that the enemy continues to shell the city, as well as other border settlements in Kharkiv region, with artillery, MLRS and mortars.

In Vovchansk, the enemy used both combat aircraft and artillery.  In Kupyansk, the shelling damaged private households, garages, and a car. There were fires. 

In Velykyi Burluk, a 44-year-old woman was wounded by shelling and hospitalized in moderate condition. 

Humanitarian demining in the oblast is ongoing. Pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service removed and disabled 17 explosive devices.

The State Ecological Inspectorate of Kharkiv oblast estimates the environmental damage caused by the destruction of Ukrposhta property in the region during the war at almost UAH 19.5 million.

Donetsk oblast

Last week, towards Lyman, the National Guard and the Ukrainian Armed Forces discovered and destroyed 7 tanks, 10 armored combat vehicles, 3 mortars with crews and a russian army ammunition depot, and struck at several enemy buildups.

According to Volodymyr Nazarenko, Deputy Commander of the Svoboda battalion of the 4th operational brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, the Kostiantynivka-Bakhmut motorway, near Ivanivske and Stupochky in proximity to Bakhmut are controlled by the Ukrainian military. The russian army has not cut the road on this section. 

Teachers who have received russian passports are being mobilized in russian-occupied Mariupol, the Mariupol City Council reported.

The russian army shelled a fire station in Bakhmut, said the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Serhiy Kruk.

Over the past day, russian occupation forces conducted 30 attacks in Donetsk region. The russian military shelled more than ten localities in the region. Avdiivka and Kamianka were attacked from the air, and Tornado systems were used to shell Tetianivka. Bakhmut suffered 12 attacks launched from Grads and artillery.

Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka and Prechystivka came under fire, there were no casualties.

Towards Donetsk, the Marinka community suffered the most. Marinka, Krasnohorivka and Katerynivka were under fire. During the night, there were isolated attacks on Avdiivka, and at dawn, russians shelled Pervomayske of the Ocheretyne community – no casualties.

Towards Horlivka, 5 people were killed and 9 wounded in Bakhmut. In the city, 10 multi-storey buildings, 3 private houses and an administrative building were damaged. In the Soledar community, Fedorivka and Rozdolivka came under fire, there were hits in Chasiv Yar and Toretsk communities.

Towards Lysychansk, 2 houses in Lyman were damaged. Several private houses were damaged in Siversk, and a house destroyed in Serebrianka. The Sviatohirsk community came under fire: people and infrastructure were not affected.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, says that russians killed 5 civilians in Bakhmut, Donetsk oblast, and another 10 wounded in the oblast. Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 1372 people have been killed and 3062 wounded in Donetsk oblast.

Luhansk oblast

Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled russian invaders’ attacks in Stelmakhivka, Kreminna, Dibrova and Bilohorivka. Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy fired at Stelmakhivka, Nevske and Chervonopopivka.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that iranian instructors have recently arrived in the occupied Luhansk to teach the russian military how to use drones. 

Serhii Haidai, Head of the Luhansk RMA states that the number of attacks and shelling by the russian federation in all directions has increased significantly. Yet, the Ukrainian military controls the situation in Bilohorivka, Svatove and Kreminna.

The Luhansk Military Administration said that the retirement age in the occupied territories will be extended by five years until 2027, and another batch of medics has been sent from russia to Luhansk to work in hospitals.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, is in Ukraine on a working visit. He is scheduled to meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi. In the morning, he laid a wreath at the Memorial Wall of those who died for Ukraine on Mykhailivska Square. The Minister of Foreign Trade of the Netherlands, Lissier Schreinemager, also came to Kyiv.

Labour Party leader Keir Starmer visited Kyiv on February 16. He stated that Ukraine will always have the support of Great Britain and the party. This is Starmer’s first visit to the capital of Ukraine. During the meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, military support and the importance of reparations for reconstruction of the country were discussed. Kier Starmer also visited Bucha and Irpin, where he met with experts on human rights and reconstruction.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko took part in the opening of the Munich Security Conference. The main theme of this year’s conference is the war in Ukraine and strengthening support in the fight against the aggressor. According to him, he met with the US Senate delegation led by Mitch McConnell and with  Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs, one of the largest investment banks in the world.

Bucha Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk announced that about 870 private houses and apartments damaged by the russian aggression were renovated in the city. According to him, the houses in the Yablunska and Vokzalna micro-districts were restored thanks to charity funds and the Kyiv RMA. They plan to finish the repair of another 78 houses soon.

Ukrenergo is measuring power consumption in the capital in order to determine current indicators. Accordingly, power consumption restrictions were canceled for one day in Kyiv. during the test period, there will be no stable operation or emergency shutdowns will not be carried out .

Kyiv oblast received 38 charging stations from the Japanese government and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The stations will allow people to charge their devices and stay in touch even when there is no electricity. A total of 1K charging stations were purchased throughout Ukraine, which will soon be delivered to local communities across the country.

Residents of Kyiv oblast have already replaced over 33K old lamps for energy-saving LEDs. According to experts’ calculations, switching to energy-saving lamps will reduce  peak electricity consumption by 7-10%  and significantly reduce the deficit of electricity in the system. The replacement program is financed by the European Union and is part of its support for the Ukrainian energy front.

The KCMA reported that all electric transport is back in operation in Kyiv. There are 286 vehicles on 46 trolleybus routes, 195 vehicles on 32 tram routes. Trams and trolleybuses did have been out of service for 56 days. Their work was suspended on December 23 due to power shortages.

Training on pre-medical assistance will be held at 12 stations of the capital metro. As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, the training will be conducted by experts and instructors of the Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr Mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn said that city received a special award at the international exhibition in Warsaw. He noted that: “Rebuild Ukraine is a powerful platform for investors and communities that will be able to attract foreign business. We have a lot to be proud of. We have many implemented projects with SECO, NEFKO, EBRD and the World Bank.” Also, according to him, a Memorandum with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Italy in Ukraine was signed to provide direct contact with the Zhytomyr community for businesses.

For the eleventh time since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Polish foundation “Thank you for Freedom” has brought humanitarian cargo to Ukraine. First-aid kits, canned soup, stretchers for carrying wounded soldiers were brought to Zhytomyr oblast by Head of the foundation, Adam Zavadzki.

Students from Lyceum No. 3 in Zhytomyr organized a flash mob to celebrate the Day of Unity, which began in Ukraine in 2022 amid warnings of a possible war. The educational institution held patriotic lessons and a fair was held to bring victory closer to home. All funds received from the event will be used to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Sumy oblast

The Sumy RMA reported that the enemy shelled seven communities of the Sumy oblast. The shelling spread across the territories of Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Khotyn, Nova Sloboda, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia and Shalyhine communities. The enemy used mortars, artillery and explosives dropped from UAVs. Residential and farm buildings were damaged by shelling. No people were injured.

As part of the charity art marathon of Mykola Lysenko Children’s Art School “Let’s Endure. Let’s help. Let’s win”, a master class by teacher Lyubov Yarova was held on the topic: “Ukraine will win. Watercolor landscapes”. The event was timed to the Day of Unity. The teacher and her students skillfully depicted the beauty of the Ukrainian land and faith in the Victory over the enemy in their works that will be handed over to the Ukrainian military for moral support.

“Hope”, a  volunteer association  of the Shostka community in Sobychiv, continues to support the front. Volunteers make delicious pancakes, dumplings, cutlets, which are vacuumed and sent to the defenders of Ukraine. On Unity Day, the goodies were sent to the defenders.

Chernihiv oblast

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that the enemy shelled Chernihiv and Sumy blasts more than 50 times. The Novhorod-Siverskyi community came under enemy shelling. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties.

The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Chernihiv oblast reported that sappers carried out 5 trips to clear the territories of explosive objects. The pyrotechnicians discovered, removed and transported to the sorting site 20 explosive objects, namely 17 artillery shells of 152 and 125 mm caliber, 2 mortar mines of 120 mm caliber, as well as a Grad MLRS munition with cassette elements. The ordnance will be destroyed in accordance with the established procedure.

A charity fair was held in the Mensk community on Unity Day. The event was attended by students from the Mensk Gymnasium, the Birkiv Branch of the Support Institution, the Station of Young Technicians, and the Mensk Center for Children’s and Youth Creativity. They managed to collect UAH 23,300 for the needs of the Armed Forces.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the Regional Council Mykola Lukashuk, the russian army shelled the Nikopol region four times over the past day. The occupiers fired heavy artillery at Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka communities and Nikopol. The victim is a woman born in 1946. In the Chervonogrigorivka community, two dozen private homes and farm buildings, a car, gas stoves, and power grids were mutilated. 

Artur Harvasiuk, a resident of Nikopol, converts LED lamps into batteries. They are sent to meet the needs of the Armed Forces and people in hotspots that are left without power. Such a recycled LED lamp operates for 4-6 hours.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​ Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that Starlink and 2Kthermochemical heaters were handed over to the special forces of the Vinnytsia Zonal Department of the Military Service of Law and Order.

Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that Vinnytsia is presented at the international reconstruction forum ReBuild Ukraine in Warsaw. The project of reconstruction of the airport terminal was shown to potential partners. This is a strategic project, the implementation of which will give impetus to the post-war development of Vinnytsia.

Kirovohrad oblast

Head of the Kropyvnytskyi RMA, Vitalii Pastushenko said that the oblast received 19 Starlink modems for Invincibility Centres. Nine of them will be given to the city of Kropyvnytskyi, the rest – to rural communities. 

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, 5 more cars were handed over by volunteers to the fighters who protect Ukraine from the enemy.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the Cherkasy RMA said that 10 more functional and  maneuverable vehicles were handed over to defenders from Cherkasy.

Head of regional public organizations “Union of Chornobyl Ukraine” and “Children of Chornobyl” Olha Yanchuk reports that three generators were handed over from the German organization “Help to the Children of Chernobyl” to social institutions of Cherkasy oblast to improve living and working conditions during power outages. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The situation towards Zaporizhzhia has not undergone significant changes. The enemy concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied positions. On February 16, the enemy launched 105 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders, using tank weapons, rocket and barrel artillery along the entire contact line .

The occupiers have carried out more than 140 strikes on Zaporizhzhia oblast over the past two days. Residential buildings in 20 settlements of the region were damaged and partially destroyed. Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Novodanylivka, Olhivske, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Chervone, Bilohiria, Novoandriivka, Novopavlivka, Malynivka and Poltavka are under constant enemy shelling.

An additional mobile phone tower installed by the enemy was discovered in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Russian special services can listen to telephone conversations of GSM consumers using this tower.

The communities in Zaporizhia oblast received 69 generators from the UAE as part of charitable assistance. The generators will ensure uninterrupted power supply to Invincibility Centers, schools during the educational process, stabilizing communication and ensuring the operation of critical infrastructure.

Mykolaiv oblast

On February 16, at 15:00 and 18:40, the enemy shelled the water area of the Ochakiv community with mortars. There are no casualties.

On February 16, a man blew himself up on a PFM-1 (butterfly) mine in the Bereznehuvate territorial community. The victim received a mine-explosive injury and was taken to a medical facility.The mine size is only about 12 cm and its color is either gray or “khaki”, so it is extremely difficult to detect it in a field or on a dirt road.

Latvian partners -NA Group Stage & Light company and Zinteco LLC handed over lighting equipment to fhe military personnel in Mykolaiv oblast to detect enemy drones more effectively. The equipment was handed over to the head of the patrol police of Mykolaiv oblast, Vitalii Danila, and the commander of the 3039th military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel Serhiyi Vakulenko.

The Kherson regional military administration will work with the Mykolaiv RMA to solve the problem of restoring water supply. According to Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv RMA, constant russian shelling of Kherson oblast has damaged the water supply to  Mykolaiv. Municipalities will work together to restore water shortage supplies

Odesa oblast

The enemy increased the naval group in the Black Sea to 12 units, including 4 missile carriers (1 submarine). The total volley of Kalibrs can reach 28 missiles. 1 large landing ship is also on combat duty.

The  danger of  mines along the Black Sea coast and in coastal waters remains quite high l. Strong storms and rough seas carry blown mines to the shore and create the greatest danger. As a result,  a mine was brought to one of the Odesa beaches yesterday.

VALSAMITIS bulk carrier will transport 25K tons of Ukrainian wheat to Kenya and 5K tons to Ethiopia as part of the Grain From Ukraine initiative. This is the fifth ship within the GrainFromUkraine program aimed to provide humanitarian Ukrainian wheat to countries suffering from a food crisis. Grain is exported thanks to donations from Great Britain, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.

Kherson oblast

As of afternoon February 17, the russian army shelled the Kherson community 10 times. 1 local resident was killed. The building of the Kherson faculty of the Odesa University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the visa center were damaged. Private houses were also mutilated.

On February 16, russian invaders attacked Kherson oblast 76 times. The occupiers hit the commercial port and residential buildings in Kherson. As a result of russian shelling, 3 people were killed, and 7 badly injured.

The enemy continues using drones to locate the positions of the Defense Forces in Kherson oblast and carries out isolated attacks with lancet kamikaze drones in agricultural areas of the de-occupied territories. This is reported by the ‘South’ Operational Command.

The number of victims among local residents of the territories where stabilization measures are ongoing tends to increase. This week, there were 3 explosions in the Beryslav region. As a result, 2 people were killed, and 2 more were badly injured. A total of 9 people were killed and 8 injured in Kherson oblast as a result of non-compliance with the norms and restrictions established in areas of suspected mining. Today, a 31-year-old man blew himself up on a russian mine in the village of Oleksandrivka, Kherson region. It happened on the shore of a pond. The victim lost his foot.

Ukrainian aviation launched 2 airstrikes on the enemy manpower buildups in Hola Prystan and Pishchanivka. Rocket and artillery units conducted 81 fire missions. The enemy lost 18 occupiers, 6 units of equipment, including a S-300 launcher, 2 large-caliber guns Hyacinth-B, and 3 vehicles. 5 ammunition warehouses and an observation post were destroyed, including those on the islands of the Left Bank.

According to the General Staff, the occupiers converted the Central Regional Hospital into a military one in the village of Kalanchak, Kherson oblast. 36 eliminated and 18 wounded servicemen of the russian armed forces were brought there.

The Kherson RMA reported that representatives of Ukrainian Future, the German-Ukrainian association, handed over 3 70 kW mobile boilers and 2 100 kW generators to Kherson. 

The Novovorontsovka military administration received 90 Lenovo tablets from the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine. The gadgets will be distributed to children who live in the community and cannot receive education remotely.

The Vysokopillia hospital received a Toyota ambulance car, equipped to provide emergency medical assistance on the frontlines. In addition, modern medical equipment was delivered to the hospital such as a portable ultrasound machine, an electrocardiograph and a defibrillator.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA reported that the Lutsk Regional Perinatal Center and Maternity Hospital will receive life-saving equipment for newborns. Humanitarian aid from Latvian and Irish volunteers was provided in cooperation with the Polish Forestry Office and the CF Forestry of Volyn.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that eight Ukrainian families were evacuated from the hottest areas of the front to Zakarpattia oblast. IDPs will be housed in the Perehrestiv boarding school, where separate comfortable rooms have been arranged for them.

The RMA reported that as part of the bilateral cooperation between the RMA and the UNHCR office in Ukraine, Zakarpattia received three powerful autonomous power generation units.

the Unification Train ran from Uzhgorod to Kramatorsk. At each train stop, everyone can sign special railway postcards that will be carried across the country to Kramatorsk. They will be handed over to the defenders holding off the enemies in Donetsk oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a  plaque commemorating Senior Lieutenant Oleh Viazovchenko was installed and unveiled on the facade of the Center for Patriotic Education of School Youth. From now on, each plaque will display a special QR code that can be scanned to view a video story about the brave warrior.

Lviv oblast

A massive exchange took place, freeing 100 Ukrainian defenders and one civilian. Among them are a national guard and two border guards from Lviv oblast.

Lviv oblast was visited by the Governor of the State of New Jersey, Head of the National Association of Governors of the US Phil Murphy and his wife Tammy. The US politician spoke with IDPs who found refuge in the oblast.

The RMA held a meeting with the CF SOS Children’s Villages. They discussed directions for cooperation in 2023.

Lviv oblast received 6 generators for educational institutions and medical institutions. The 5.5 and 8.5 kW generators  were sent by representatives of the Protestant church Hosanna. The cost of the project is EUR 6K. The devices were purchased with funds from foreign donors.

The RMA reported that medical facilities of the Sambur region received patient beds, medical cabinets, and IV racks from the Malta Relief Service and the Doskich Family CF.

The RMA reported that schools and kindergartens in the Yavoriv district received 12 heaters from the Ukrainian Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Lviv Palace of Arts hosted the charity event Towards a New Christmas Carol, organized by the team of the Lviv Children’s Club network and the Department of Youth Policy of the Lviv City Council. The collected UAH 22K was used for the secret military equipment with code-named Tserber.

Rivne oblast

The formation of the Rifle Battalion was completed in Rivne oblast. The battalion must respond to threats to the national security of the state and is composed of residents of the oblast. Today, soldiers are already undergoing training and combat coordination.

6 volunteers from the Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine in Rivne oblast will be working in the liberated Kherson oblast. Two brigades will provide emergency and primary medical care.

Representatives of the Lemberg Vir Komen organization and Matias Bere visited the Rivne community. German partners visited hostels where IDPs live and handed them humanitarian aid.

Rivne oblast will receive 140 charging stations from international partners with the support of the UN Development Program and the Government of Japan. The devices will be distributed among the communities of the oblast.

Training for social sphere specialists in the social sphere working with veterans will begin on the basis of the Ostroh Academy National University. This is a pilot project and will involve 30 community representatives from Rivne, Lviv, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.

Ternopil oblast

A charity exhibition entitled “Kherson Oblast is Ukraine” was opened in Ternopil. The paintings depict the history of the Kherson people’s resistance to russian invaders and the landscape of Kherson oblast. About a hundred works by 60 artists from various oblasts of Ukraine, including temporarily occupied territories, are on display.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reported that from Khmelnytskyi the Dental Battalion trips to the front line will be constant.

Books were sent from Khmelnytskyi to the library of Ukrainian books in the city of Valencia (Spain). It was on the initiative of the public organization “Association of Ukrainians Abroad” that such a library was established in Europe.

The RMA reported that on February 13-15, 2023, a certification audit was conducted at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. In connection with the armed aggression of the russian federation, it was conducted remotely. During the audit, no inconsistencies with the requirements of the standards were found.

The Khmelnytskyi Regional Cardiovascular Center reported that his medics performed an operation on a wounded soldier from Ternopil who was hit in the heart by a piece of metal. After receiving postoperative treatment, the patient was transferred to a military hospital for rehabilitation.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that medical facilities of Bukovyna received a large humanitarian shipment of 20 5 kW generators, bed linens, blankets, and sheets.

Bukovyna received humanitarian aid, namely, 24 water bottles, 42 ten-liter plastic canisters and 1 470 hygiene kits, from the field office of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The aid will be used to equip Invincibility Centers.

The State Archive of Chernivtsi oblast received humanitarian aid for the construction of a modern digitization laboratory. The cargo arrived as part of the “Ukraine Art Aid Center” campaign by the Federal Office of Culture and Media of Germany with the assistance of the Chernivtsi Museum of History and Culture of the Jews of Bukovyna.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces showed how Ukrainian anti-aircraft fighters receive training on the Patriot air defense system in Germany. Representatives of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany say that our soldiers are very motivated and soon will quickly master the Patriot. On February 2, the Ukrainian military arrived in Germany for training on the Patriot air defense system.
