It has been the 723 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

During the day of February 16, there were 70x combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 8x missile and 49x air strikes, carried out 84x MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in killed and wounded civilians. Residential private and apartment buildings, medical facilities and critical infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Udy, Hatyshche, Katerynivka (Kharkiv oblast). More than 10x settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Leonivka (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda, Koren’ok, Studenok, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Kindrativka, Bilovody, Velyka Pysarivka (Sumy oblast).

Kup’yans’k axis: the adversary conducted no offensives. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Syn’kivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 8x assaults near Terny, Yampolivka, Tors’ke (Donetsk oblast), and Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast). In that area the adversary made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Rozdolivka, Terny (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Nevs’ke, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Yampolivka, Tors’ke (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5x attacks in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers, with air support, made attempts to improve their tactical situation. Moreover, the invaders launched air strikes in the vicinity of Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast). Around 10x settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Kalynivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast).

Avdiivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 27x attacks in the vicinity of Avdiivka and 2x more attacks near Pervomais’ke and Nevel’s’ke (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the occupiers, with air support, continue their attempts to capture Avdiivka. On top of that, the russian occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Semenivka, Lastochkyne (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at up to 20x settlements, including Avdiivka, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Lastochkyne, Nevel’s’ke (Donetsk oblast).

Mar’inka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the adversary, with air support, made 7x attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Kostyantynivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Novopavlivka axis: the adversary conducted no offensives. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Vodyane, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine, Staromaiors’ke (Donetsk oblast).

Zaporizhzhia axis: no signs of the adversary offensives. More than 20x settlements, including Poltavka, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, P’yatykhatky, Kam’yans’ke (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Odesa operational-strategic group, Kherson axis: the occupiers do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. During the day, the enemy made 2x attempts to assault positions of Ukrainian troops. The city of Kherson, the settlements of Romashkove, Dniprovs’ke (Kherson oblast), and the city of Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast) came under artillery fire of the occupiers. The enemy also shelled Kherson with MLRS strikes.

During the day of February 16, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 11x concentrations of troops, 1x anti-aircraft missile system of the occupiers.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 3x concentrations of troops, 2x areas of artillery firing positions, 1x ammunition depot, 2x electronic warfare stations of the russian invaders.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that a 52-year-old man was killed as a result of the shelling of Vovchanski Khutory around 12:20 pm on 16 February. Another resident of the village was injured and residential buildings damaged.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that three civilians were killed by a mine in a field in Dovhenke village, Izium region. Two men aged 25 and 50 were killed. Another 30-year-old man was hospitalised with shrapnel wounds. 

The enemy shelled 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast with artillery and mortar: Kudiivka, Synkivka, Berestove, Kotliarivka and others.

The invaders launched airstrikes on Ivanivka, Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne, Budarky, Chorne and others.

At 6:24 am, the enemy fired on Katerynivka village, Kupiansk region. A private house was damaged. There were no casualties. 

At about 8:09 pm, the enemy shelled Lyptsi, Kharkiv region, with an unidentified ammunition. A house was damaged. There were no casualties.

At about 5:40 pm, the enemy launched guided aerial bombs at Chorne village, Kupiansk region. A car with civilians was hit. A private house nearby caught on fire. Three people were killed: 58-year-old woman, 56-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl. A 54-year-old woman was hospitalised in a critical condition and a 53-year-old man injured.

At around 11 am, the enemy attacked Vovchansk and Bilyi Kolodiaz of Chuhuiv region. Both hits were at a private house. Windows, gates and a fence were damaged. There were no casualties.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka.

Bomb experts cleared 16.09 hectares of mines and defused 192 explosive ordnance.

16 February was declared the Day of Mourning for the victims of  Velykyi Burluk community. On 14 February, according to the Village Military Admin, 5 people were killed as a result of an S-300 strike on a two-storey building in Velykyi Burluk.

Kharkiv oblast received another 3,600 laptops. In total, with the support of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), educational institutions and children in Kharkiv oblast received 13,700 laptops in 2023.

In Nemyshlianskyi district, where a fuel leak occurred as a result of shelling, the fuel did not get into drinking water sources, so there is no threat to consumers. The water in taps is safe and of good quality. The oil leak did not flow into Siverskyi Donets River as special equipment was installed the day before in two places in Udy and Nemyshlia rivers to contain the oil film layer. A special hydrocarbon-based sorbent is already being used in the designated areas. At the same time, specialised services are monitoring other locations.

Ivan Vyhivskyi, Head of the National Police, stated that a total of 1,008 bodies, including 29 children, were found in the de-occupied territory of Kharkiv oblast as of 16 February. 875 of the dead have been identified.

There are toys and flowers at the memorial, burnt houses and bushes around at Kotelna Street in Kharkiv as a fire broke out as a result of a russian drone strike on an oil depot. Seven people died and three others injured in the fire on 9 February. Power engineers are currently restoring electricity to the street.

Donetsk oblast

Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, Commander of Tavriia operational-stragetic group, reported that as of 1 pm, there were no blocked Ukrainian units in Avdiivka. According to him, up to five hundred russian troops were eliminated towards Avdiivka on 15 February.

Tarnavskyi added that Ukrainian forces withdrew from Zenit position to the southeastern outskirts of Avdiivka to save personnel and improve the operational situation as these positions do not give russian troops a strategic advantage and do not change the situation within Avdiivka defence operation.

The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade said that there are at least 15,000 russian personnel in their area of responsibility in Avdiivka. The 3rd assault brigade inflicted critical damage on the 74th and 114th separate motorised rifle brigades of russian armed forces.

The 3rd Separate Mechanised Brigade informed that russian troops are using 60 aerial bombs a day in the battles for Avdiivka, dropping phosphorus bombs that set fuel oil on fire at the Avdiivka Coke Plant. Artillery and multiple rocket launchers are also involved while infantry and armoured vehicles are used in the assaults.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that yesterday Ukrainian soldiers repelled 86 russian attacks towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Novopavlivka and Marinka on 15 February. Also most of russian attacks were towards Marinka and Avdiivka.

The press service of Donetsk police said that 8 settlements were under attack: Novohrodivka, Kurakhove, Selydove, Chasiv Yar cities, Hrodivka, Ocheretyne settlements, Zoria and Novobakhmutivka villages. 55 civilian objects were damaged, such as 45 residential buildings, two kindergartens, a school, a sports school, a religious building, a boiler house, cars and critical infrastructure.

Towards Pokrovsk, Avdiivka suffered several airstrikes and massive shelling. In Kurakhove community, 5 houses were damaged in Hostre and Kurakhove shelled. The invaders hit Novohrodivka with three S-300 missiles, injuring a man and damaging 15 houses and a kindergarten.

Towards Kramatorsk, one person was killed and 2 injured in Zoria of Illinivsk community. Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community and the outskirts of Kostiantynivka community were under attack.

Towards Bakhmut, 2 private houses, 2 apartment buildings and a non-residential building were damaged in Chasiv Yar. Siversk was shelled.

In total, russians attacked settlements in Donetsk oblast 14 times yesterday. 54 people, including 11 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Russians hit Zoria village with Smerch MRLs. One person was killed and two others injured. An apartment building and 8 private houses, educational institutions, a gas pipeline and a car were damaged.

Yesterday, experts were able to restore power supply to 9 settlements in Donetsk oblast, which means 5,839 families.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy fighters hit Stelmakhivka, Bilohorivka and Novoliubivka. There are still civilians in the latter. In two days, russians attacked this part of the frontline at least 10 times from the air. This does not include the use of kamikaze drones.

In Rubizhne, parents are given recommendations “to prevent extremism among children”. The invaders order regular discussions with the child about the political, social and economic situation in the world, interethnic relations, to “help them understand the true state of affairs” and to engage in propaganda directly at home. There is also a recommended list of military-patriotic clubs and television programmes that children should watch.

Even pharmacies will not be built in the so-called “lpr”. In the villages, medicines will be sold directly in the health points. Employees of these points cannot choose the supplier and the list of medicines needed by the residents on their own and the contract must be signed with a company from Luhansk.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, the Head of Kyiv RMA, said that the number of objects damaged by the russian attack on February 15 has increased in the oblast. As a result of the shelling, 21 private houses were damaged – windows were broken, doors were cut, roofs and walls were damaged. In addition, debris damaged a car and 9 non-residential objects – fences, garages, utility rooms. Owners of damaged buildings are already receiving the necessary assistance.

After the destruction of the russian missile in the morning of February 15, a gap formed near the village of Buda-Babenetska. This village lies between Bucha and Borodyanka. Windows and roofs of nearby buildings were damaged by the blast wave.

Kyiv RMA reported that scheduled work on the elimination of explosive objects is being carried out on the territory of the Vyshhorod region on February 16. Residents of the region are asked to remain calm.

In Hostomel, they presented a project for the construction of residential high-rise buildings in one of the microdistricts instead of those that were destroyed as a result of russian armed aggression. The project involves the construction of 5 high-rise buildings, a garden, an anti-radiation shelter for the civilian population, and landscaping.

 

Kyiv Department of Health Protection reported that experts from the Israel Trauma Coalition organized psychological stress resistance training for medics in the capital. In particular, for the doctors of the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medical Care. Medical workers also learned practical techniques and methods designed for self-help and providing psychological first aid to patients during traumatic events.

 

The National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity presented a program of events commemorating the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. The presentation took place at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center. The main commemoration events are scheduled for February 18-20. So, on February 18, a memorial service will be held in memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and fighters for the independence of Ukraine, as well as a Memorial Walk.

 

Irpin city council reported that a public discussion of the idea of renaming streets has started in the community. Local residents can propose their names for 8 toponyms that were previously named after soviet figures or associated with events of the former soviet union.

 

Zhytomyr oblast

Students of the Medical Institute with the participation of military personnel of the 199th training center of the Assault Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine mastered the basics of military affairs. Young people had the opportunity to get acquainted with professional military equipment, the basics of first aid, the latest foreign weapons and mine safety measures.

The Head of Korosten RVA Oleg Ryaboy said that the local kindergartens have received financial assistance from UNICEF Ukraine. Sets for early development of children are distributed to 28 preschools, where more than 1900 children study.

The artists of the Khoroshiv House of Culture made a creative volunteer visit to one of the combat units of Zhytomyr oblast. In addition, the artists purchased and brought to Ukrainian defenders thermal images and sweets.

 

Sumy oblast

The National Police of Ukraine reported that The Air Defense destroyed the X-59 aviation missile in Sumy oblast.

Sumy RMA reported that at night, the russian federation made 3 shelling of the border Seredina-Buda community, 17 explosions were recorded: 7 of mortars and 10 of MLRS.

Over the past day, the russians carried out 16 shelling of the border territories of Sumy oblast. In total, 74 explosions were recorded: mortars, artillery, SPG, by FPV dron. There were 7 communities under the enemy shelling: Khotyn, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhine, Esman and Svesa.

In Sumy oblast, they work on the creation of a housing stock for forced displaced persons – the evacuation process is ongoing, people gradually leave the danger zone and need conditions for accommodation. According to RMA, today in the oblast about 114 families are in line for housing.

The Ministry of Reintegration reported that 43 687 households in Sumy oblast are provided with firewood or funds for their purchase. The sources of assistance are local budgets and assistance in international organizations.

 

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv border detachment reported that last day, the russian troops fired at the border Semenivka community, Three mortar hits were recorded in the direction of the village of Arkhipivka.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the police of Chernihiv oblast has been delivered to humanitarian assistance to the residents of the border. This time, the police of Novhorod-Siverskyi region visited eight families, where 18 children are raised. They live in four villages, less than 10 kilometers to the border from the russian federation.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky celebrated the state awards of three energymen of JSC “Chernihivoblenergo”. Volodymyr Ezepa, Irina Shalapuda and Anatoly Lavrenko were awarded for a significant contribution to the development and maintenance of the energy complex in the conditions of martial law, personal courage and dedication revealed in the elimination of the consequences of accidents at energy infrastructure.

The Head of Chernihiv RMA Vyacheslav Chaus reported that two communities of Chernihiv oblast were the winners of the international project, which will be installed there solar power plants – at the water intake in Sosnitsya community and at the building of the city hospital in the Mena community. This energy-saving process began with the victory in the competition “Renewable Energy for Sustainable Ukraine” from the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ.

 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that in the afternoon an enemy missile was shot down over Kryvyi Rih region by the Air Command East. The occupiers attacked Nikopol region 3 times. They fired from artillery and launched 2 kamikaze drones targeting Marhanets community.

A hotline has been set up in Dnipropetrovsk region to consult IDPs on resettlement in places of compact residence.

Vinnytsia oblast

Serhii Morhunov, Vinnytsia Mayor announced that radiation shelters are being built in 6 lyceums. One of the shelters at Lyceum No. 30 will be able to accommodate up to 850 children at a time. In addition, it will have a dual purpose – it will be possible to organize various clubs and sports sections.

Serhii Morhunov, Vinnytsia Mayor reported that the city hospital received special rehabilitation equipment. The equipment was brought by Olha Shtromberger from Germany.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA reported that in the afternoon during the air raid there were explosions in Kropyvnytskyi region.

Poltava oblast

Philip Pronin, Head of the RMA reported that at night the occupiers attacked Myrhorod region once again. There was a hit in the open area. Also during the day the enemy struck at the territory of Poltava region.

Poltava region received humanitarian aid from Lithuania. About 100 switches are for our defenders’ needs. More than 700 routers – for educational, cultural, social protection and administrative service centers. In total, more than 800 pieces of equipment.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA announced that another shipment of support for the defenders was delivered from Cherkasy region. This time it is 6 drones. There are also necessary things for the military. In particular, 24 modern stoves.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Mykolaiv oblast

During the day of February 15, Russian troops shelled the Ochakiv community of the Mykolaiv Oblast. Due to the attack, residential buildings, enterprises and infrastructure objects were damaged. There are no casualties or injuries. This is stated in the morning summary of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

More than 1,500 criminal proceedings have been opened in the Mykolaiv region on the disappearance of servicemen during hostilities. Of them, it is known that 338 servicemen are in captivity of the Russian Federation. This was reported by Eduard Solovyov, deputy head of the State Security Service in the Mykolaiv region, during the report on the work of the Coordination Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Odesa oblast

In January, Odesa received EUR 320,115 in aid from international donors. Part of the money was directed to medical equipment and defense forces. Oleg Kiper, the head of Odesa OVA, announced this.

The national carrier PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping” is starting to form container caravans on the Middle and Upper Danube. This route can become an alternative to the western border, which is periodically blocked by foreign farmers. UDP plans to launch barge container caravans to the Danube ports of Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and to the Romanian port of Constanta. The ministry added that the company has started consultations with carriers regarding the required number of containers to form the first caravans. Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council sent two DJI MAVIC 3T quadcopters, two AGM Fuzion LRF TM50-640 and AGM Fuzion LRF TM35-640 thermal imaging monoculars to the A0281 military unit, who are carrying out combat missions to protect the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine from the russian invasion.

Lutsk City Council reported that the 204th Sevastopol Tactical Aviation Brigade received a Volkswagen Amarok SUV and 10 Bandera Flashlight BFL 280.1X laser searchlights.

Zakarpattia oblast

This week, at the Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center IDPs registered in Uzhhorod received: 30 packages with necessary things for children under 1 year of age; 50 packages with sets for children born in 2013-2017; 50 bags with grocery sets; 50 packages with hygiene kits. During the week, volunteers gave out clothes, shoes, bed linen and dishes (1,5K items) thanks to PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. V., Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help e.V. and other benefactors.

The shelter in Mamaiv general secondary education institution can accommodate over a thousand people after renovation. Capital repairs of the protective structure were made with the funds of the state budget subvention for the provision of safe conditions with co-financing from the local budget. The total cost of the object is UAH 2 mln 453K, of which state subvention is UAH 1 mln 962K.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council sent 45 drones to a separate rifle battalion thanks to the funds from the regional budget. They also announced a tender for another thousand drones.

The working group on the organization of assistance to family members of fallen war veterans, operating under the RMA, visited Tlumachi. During the meeting, families received consultations on granting the status of a family member of the fallen defender, providing psychological rehabilitation and administrative services to veterans, their family members, and families of fallen soldiers.

Lviv oblast

Arif Muhammed Basalama, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Ukraine, is visiting Lviv oblast for the first time since his appointment. They discussed, in particular, that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to open a representative office in Lviv, which will contribute to strengthening the partnership between Ukrainian and Indonesian businesses.

The training of the second group of the New Horizons: Military in Business project was completed in Lviv City Council. 22 participants, including 12 veterans and 10 wives of defenders, spent 10 days learning the business tools needed to start and develop their own business.

This week, Lviv community sent 133 powerful drones, 2 Starlink terminals, 1 anti-drone gun and 3 thermal imagers worth UAH 24 mln to the military. From now on, all the equipment that the community, the community of Lviv, give to the defenders, will be marked with a special logo with the inscription Lion’s Revenge.

The day before, the charity event Warm the Heart of a Defender took place in Velikokolodnivsk school. As part of the initiative, students and the teaching staff jointly raised UAH 31K. All funds will be used to buy a car for Yaroslav Levytskyi, lyceum graduate, soldier of the 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade.

Dmytro Laskin, fighter of the 3rd separate assault brigade, received the Golden Cross badge of honor by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From January to November 2023, he defended the Motherland in Bakhmut. Now Dmytro defends Ukraine on the front line near Avdiivka.

Lviv joined the global network of UNESCO Learning Cities. Within the framework of UNESCO, GNLC Ternopil intends to effectively mobilize resources in various sectors to promote inclusive education, improve the quality of education and foster a culture of lifelong learning. In addition to Lviv, Ternopil and Sumy joined the Global Network of Cities. In total, 64 cities from 35 countries around the world participate in the program.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting of the Coordination Center for the support of the civilian population. They discussed possibilities of communities to support the military, veterans, IDPs and other categories of citizens.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Rivne oblast has taken in over 88K IDPs. Today there are over 48K of them.

Construction of a new building of the regional hospital for war veterans is underway in Rivne oblast. The progress of the work was discussed during an online meeting on veterans’ policy under the chairmanship of Iryna Vereshchuk,  Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council sent three more pieces of reconnaissance equipment to the defenders. At the request of the military within the framework of the Defense Capability program, they sent three DJI Mavic 3 quadcopters, worth over UAH 242K. This week, four DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters were also sent to the military; two DJI Mavic 3 quadcopters; three DJI Mavic 3 fly more combo quadcopters; three DJI Mavic 3 pro quadcopters and 130 FPV drones.

Ternopil City Council reported that at the request of the commander of the military unit, they sent three DJI Mavic 3 pro quadcopters worth UAH 240 to the military unit as part of the Defense Capability program.

14 turrets were sent to the anti-aircraft machine gun battalion, which is designed to protect the critical infrastructure of Ternopil Region from enemy drones. The local anti-aircraft machine gun battalion is equipped with vehicles for combat missions with all the necessary equipment: turrets, large-caliber machine guns, means of autonomous communication, surveillance, early detection of targets and other special equipment. In Bukovyna, another unit for the provision of rehabilitation services became operational. It was opened at the Center of Primary Medical Care of Vyzhnytsk City Council. Various rehabilitation services are available here for children and adults of various conditions.

The RMA signed two quadripartite memoranda with the International Organization for Migration. It is planned to expand the housing stock that is in the communal ownership of Chernivtsi and Khotyn communities and to provide homes for almost 1K IDPs.

Ukraine and Germany signed an agreement on “security cooperation”. Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, said that the signing of the agreement on “security guarantees” by Ukraine and Germany is a historic step.

Olaf Scholz announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth EUR 1.1 bln. “Today we are preparing a new aid package, it is EUR 1.1 bln. It is 36 armored wheeled howitzers from industrial stocks, 120K ammunition, two Skynex systems and missiles for IRIS-T,” said the Chancellor of Germany.

Hungary joined the NATO coalition for demining Ukraine. The country signed the Protocol of Intent and joined 20 member states of the Alliance. The goal of the coalition, which will be led by Lithuania, is the demining of de-occupied territories, technical support and training of qualified specialists.

Britain and Latvia will lead a drone coalition for Ukraine. Grant Shapps, British Defense Minister, noted that this year the United Kingdom has increased aid to Ukraine to 2.5 bln pounds, and 200 mln pounds has been allocated for the production of UAVs. This, according to him, makes the country “the largest supplier of drones in Ukraine.” At the same time, within the framework of this coalition, Britain will increase the provision of FPV drones to Ukraine by the West.

Norway in the spring, will begin training Ukrainian marines within the framework of the maritime coalition. The training will begin in the Netherlands and last for about a year in cooperation with allies. The country will also provide Ukraine with boats and equipment for actions on small boats worth about EUR 5 mln.

A NATO training center will be created in Poland to train the Ukrainian military. According to Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the Alliance, Ukrainian servicemen will be able to train together with the troops of NATO countries at the center.

Germany is preparing a EUR 100 mln aid package for Ukraine, including: anti-mine vehicles with protection against ambushes (MRV); bombs for arming small drones; 77 MULTI 1A1 trucks; medical equipment; sets of spare parts for various weapons systems. In addition, it is noted that Germany will increase the capacity needed to repair Ukrainian military equipment by the summer.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Jake Sullivan, US President’s national security advisor. Further support for Ukraine was discussed.
