Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 enemy attacks near Stepove, and Avdiivka, and 13 more attacks in the vicinities of Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). Towards Shakhtarske, Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks near Pryiutne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the enemy attack east of Kopani (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Towards Kherson, the russian army fired artillery at the settlements of Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Antonivka and Kherson (Kherson oblast). Also, the enemy launched air strikes near Tyahynka and Kherson.
The occupiers have not abandoned their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 11 unsuccessful assaults. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line and keep inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, reports that in the evening of December 30, Kharkiv was struck with more than 6 missiles. Specifically, they hit the central part of Kharkiv, targeting civilian infrastructure – a medical facility, apartment buildings, shops and other public places, and transport.

One of the strikes by the russian army hit a kindergarten. According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the CMA, the kindergarten was completely destroyed. Nearby residential buildings were damaged by the blast wave.
Oleksandr Filchakov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, informs that Kharkiv Palace Hotel was damaged by a russian missile. According to him, the building was partially destroyed. He noted that the russians fired S-300 missiles at the city from the territory of Belgorod oblast. Kharkiv Palace was hit on the 12th floor. One of the missiles also hit Hirshman Street.

On December 29, 3 people were killed as a result of an enemy missile attack on Kharkiv. During the day, 12 wounded were brought to the Regional Clinical Hospital. As of now, there are 8 patients in the hospital, 2 of them are in serious condition, and 6 in light condition.
Pyrotechnicians demined 10.9 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast, destroying 339 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.
According to the morning report of the General Staff, the russian federation reduced the number of attacks and assaults on the eastern frontline this morning. The Defence Forces repelled 40 enemy attempts to attack towards Avdiivka, Bakhmut and Marinka. Also russian army did not attack towards Lyman and Shakhtarske.
Dmytro Lazutkin, Spokesman of the 47th separate mechanised brigade, reported that russian invaders continue to advance towards Avdiivka but they cannot cut the logistics of the Ukrainian military. According to him, the attacks on Avdiivka coke plant end at the fence, while attempts to gain a foothold in Stepove, on the northern flank of the Avdiivka front, are still unsuccessful.
According to Oleksandr Shtupun, Spokesman of the Defence Forces towards Tavriisk, the russian army has started attacking in larger groups with the support of more armoured vehicles towards Avdiivka. Therefore, the number of assaults in this area has decreased but the Armed Forces of Ukraine have not observed a reduction in the number of soldiers and weapons used by the invaders.
Based on the information provided by Donetsk Regional Military Administration, three residents of Krasnohorivka, one man in Avdiivka and a woman in Toretsk were injured yesterday. In total, 1804 people have been killed and 4428 injured in the region since the start of the invasion.
The main department of Donetsk National Police informed that yesterday the russian army carried out 22 attacks on cities, villages and settlements of Donetsk oblast and damaged 28 civilian objects. The enemy used S-300 missiles, guided aerial bombs, Uragan and Grad MRLs, and artillery. The police said that the russian army shelled 11 settlements.
Petro Andriushchenko, Mariupol Mayor’s Counsillor, stated that russian invaders are building defensive structures and fortifications around Mariupol along the border of the region. They have brought in a large amount of wood for the construction of dugouts.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, confirmed that due to the hostilities, 121 settlements in the region have no electricity and four are partially cut off.
Selydove City Military Administration reported about the shelling. One person was killed and six injured. 38 houses and power lines were damaged. In addition, Prohres village, Pokrovsk region and Avdiivka were attacked. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that the shelling killed two women.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, on December 29, the enemy continued massive air strikes on frontline villages and fortifications of Ukrainian defenders. There were at least 14 airstrikes, specifically in Makiivka, Nevske and Serebrianka forestry. Nevske, Bilohorivka and the surrounding areas were under heavy mortar and artillery attacks.
After surviving a large-scale russian air strike, residents of Nevske gradually agree to evacuate. The police helped a 69-year-old and a 48-year-old women to get to their relatives in other regions of the country. Representatives of Krasnorichensk community have already asked about priority needs of the rescued people. According to Donetsk oblast hospital, where an elderly man who had been injured during the enemy air attack on Nevske was taken, the victim was diagnosed with a fragmented rib fracture, gunshot wounds to the chest and a head injury.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk RMA, reported that russians try to identify Luhansk residents, who avoided the forces issuance of russian passports. The measures include door-to-door raids with document checks, house-to-house visits during elections and restrictions on the social and medical services. In Svatove, people began to receive threats upon the deportation, which according to the law, has to be started in July. So-called “temporary residence permits” are issued to the identified people.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
The attack on the capital on December 29 was the largest in terms of civilian casualties. Therefore, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announces that January 1 is declared a day of mourning. As of now, 16 bodies have been removed from the rubble of a warehouse in Shevchenkivskyi district. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble.
In the oblast, the National Guard shot down an enemy cruise missile with small arms during the most massive missile attack by russia, and it was hit by a machine gun. This was reported by the press service of the National Guard. There was no detonation of the missile’s warhead.
A large charity evening of military poetry was held at Kyiv Museum of War. Its participants were the heroes of the Writers Defending Ukraine calendar – poets who serve in the Armed Forces. The soldiers recited their poetry to raise funds for mine-resistant boots to work in mined areas.

On December 30, the first 8 unmanned aerial vehicles manufactured on Zhytomyr Drone platform were presented at the City Council. All eight drones are in good working order – they have been tested by experts and will soon be handed over to the military. Another 23 drones are currently in production.

An aid center in the village of Pokrivka, Sumy oblast has helped about 17 K Ukrainians who have returned from the occupation. Up to 175 people can stay here overnight. Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that in the afternoon the Air Force shot down an enemy missile over Dnipro oblast. The enemy attacked Nikopol region 10 times during the day. There were 4 artillery attacks and 6 kamikaze drones. Nikopol, Marhanets and Myrove communities were targeted. An 87-year-old man was injured in Nikopol. A 65-year-old woman was also wounded. She was hospitalized in a moderate condition.

16 people were wounded as a result of the missile attack on Dnipro. They are still in hospitals. Doctors are providing all necessary assistance to the patients.
Vinnytsia City Council reported that important equipment for two battalions of the brigade formed in Vinnytsia was sent from the city. The military received aviation systems, chemical heating pads, thermal imagers and charging stations.
Yevhen Zvidovskyi, Head of Dolyna community, announced that in the community of Kirovograd region, 60 apartments were provided to defenders and their families.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Yurii Malashko, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on December 30, a 43-year-old resident of Stepnohirsk was killed in a russian artillery strike on residential buildings. Tragically, the victim was celebrating his birthday.
At approximately 11:34, russian forces launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhia, probably by an Iskander-M missile. The missile was intercepted and neutralized by Air Defense Forces. Fragments fell in an open area on the outskirts of the city, causing no casualties.
On December 29, Zaporizhzhia was targeted by the russian forces using Zircon and X-101 missiles. One of these missiles hit a residential area, resulting in the complete destruction of two houses. Other missiles targeted infrastructure facilities. Ongoing search and rescue operations and efforts to address the missile strike’s aftermath continue in Zaporizhzhia. The National Police reported that as of the evening of December 30, nine people were killed and 13 injured.
Zaporizhzhia oblast experienced a total of 196 strikes on December 29, with 145 artillery strikes directed at Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Poltavka, Luhivske, Robotyne, Stepove, Piatykhatky, Plavni, and other towns and villages along the frontlines.
Mykolaiv RMA reported multiple artillery strikes by the russian on December 29, occurring at 10:25, 11:30, 15:03, and 16:11 in the outskirts and the village of Solonchaky within Kutsurub community. At 11:00, an unidentified type of UAV dropped fragmentation munitions, fortunately resulting in no casualties. Subsequent attacks by russian forces took place at 12:21 and 13:59 near the water area of Ochakiv community. The SES Main Directorate in Mykolaiv oblast reported that the SES within Mykolaiv oblast has undertaken controlled detonation measures, confiscating and destroying a total of 21,806 munitions since the full-scale invasion of russian forces. Notably, SES sappers utilize specialized anti-mine protective boots known as Spiders, which offer a significant advantage: in the event of a munition specialist accidentally triggering an explosive device, the boots minimize the risk of traumatic amputation by distancing the blast’s epicenter from the sapper’s foot.
Halyna Zaitseva, a dedicated 78-year-old volunteer from Mykolaiv oblast, passionately weaves carpets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. Her weaving serves as a way to maintain emotional balance and extend support to the soldiers protecting Ukraine. She has dedicated over 60 years to this craft.
Odesa City Council reported that following the russian attack on December 29, 32 people were injured, and tragically, four lives were lost. Currently, 12 individuals, including two children aged 6 and 8, remain hospitalized, with their lives not in immediate danger. Among the injured, two are in critical condition, while the rest have been discharged for outpatient treatment, including a pregnant woman. A total of 46 buildings, including four private buildings, were destroyed, and 186 apartments suffered damage. Six people were provided temporary shelter.
According to the Southern Defense Forces, there is an escalation in ship deployment, with nine ships in the Black Sea and one in the Azov Sea. Currently, one surface ship and two submarines equipped with a total of 16 Kalibr missiles are actively engaged.
Despite the shelling, Odesa residents illuminated a Christmas tree with festive lights in the courtyard of a ruined building. The garland on the tree was lit, symbolizing resilience, standing at the epicenter of the damaged inner courtyard of the high-rise buildings. “Only our people, only Ukrainians, have such a thirst for life and the victory of light over darkness! Light will win! Life will win!” said the rescuers of the Main Directorate of the SES of Ukraine in Odesa oblast.
Kherson RMA reported that in the morning, Mikhaylivka in Kherson oblast was struck by russian forces, resulting in at least 20 impacts in the village center. The attack caused damage to the school, an administrative building, and a shop. There were no casualties or injuries.

Medical and educational institutions of the Regional Council received the first batch of aid from Poland for over UAH 2.5 mln from its partner region, Podlaskie Voivodeship. In particular, 2 electric generators, 109 units of household appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens) and 200 sets of medical personal protection were purchased for the needs of communal institutions of the oblast. Also, 77 powerful power banks were transferred by the Polish partners to cover the needs of the Armed Forces.
The oblast sent 10 drones worth UAH 2.8 mln to the defenders of the 102nd separate brigade thanks to the regional budget within the framework of targeted programs of assistance to military formations.
During 2023, about 740 different awards were presented to the families of fallen soldiers in Prykarpattia. 11 of the soldiers were posthumously awarded with the Hero of Ukraine title of, the highest state award.
In Lviv, as a result of an enemy missile attack on December 29, 30 people were injured, including 2 children. 16 people were hospitalized.
Heat, electricity, water and gas have been restored to 17 of the 18 affected high-rise buildings. The situation is more complicated in the house at 56 Khotkevych Street, where external networks were damaged, so it currently remains without gas and hot water.
