It has been the 673rd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets. The invaders are actively using tactical aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles. 

On December 28, there were 42 combat clashes. The enemy launched 2 missile and 40 airstrikes, carried out 33 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential buildings, hospitals and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. More than 20 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Klyusy, Leonivka, Buchky (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda, Studenok Volfyne, Myropillya, Uhroidy, Ryasne, Popivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha, Budarky, and Kamianka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The occupiers launched air strikes near Petropavlivka and Hlushkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the russian army conducted no offensives. The occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Nevske, Novolyubivka, Serebrianka forestry (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Kolodyazi, Yampolivka, Sivers’k, Spirne, Pereizne (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks of the adversary near Bohdanivka and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made failed assaults to breach Ukrainian defense. Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske, Kalynivka, and Stupochky (Donetsk oblast). 

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and 10x more attacks in the vicinities of Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the enemy, with air support, conducted unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Marinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy conducted 2 failed attacks on Ukrainian positions. The settlements of Hostre, Heorhiivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Shakhtarske, the enemy conducted no offensives. The invaders launched an airstrike near the settlement of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The adversary fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Blahodatne, Urozhaine, Makarivka, and Rivnopil (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 2 enemy attacks near Robotyne and south of Novodarivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). In that area, the enemy, using air support, made failed attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. More than 20 settlements, including Levadne, Poltavka, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Shcherbaky, and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy fired artillery at the settlements of Zolota Balka, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Novotyahynka, Kherson, Sofiivka and Stanislav (Kherson oblast). 

The occupiers have not abandoned their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 13 unsuccessful assaults. The attacks were repelled and the enemy suffered significant losses. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line, continue to retain their positions and fire for effect on the enemy.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 17 buildups of enemy troops, weapons, and military equipment, and 2 strikes on air defense systems. 

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 2 buildups of enemy troops, weapons, and military equipment, 4 artillery systems and 2 ammunition depots.


 The StarCom of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has fired 7,400 missiles of various types at the territory of Ukraine. It also attacked with about 3,700 Shahed UAVs. 

 The Center for National Resistance says that russia has taken more than 10 thousand Ukrainian children from the occupied areas. The children are taken to children’s camps where they are subjected to propaganda and often not returned to their official guardians.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Volodymyr Fito, Head of the public relations service of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, confirmed that over the day russia lost 56 soldiers and three pieces of equipment, including one tank, towards Lyman-Kupiansk. According to him, russia attacked 639 times with artillery and 20 times with kamikaze drones.

According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the enemy shelled Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, with multiple rocket launchers at around 10 am. Also russians struck six times, hitting the central part of the town, where locals receive free food from volunteers in the morning. A 66-year-old woman died in hospital from her injuries. A 63-year-old resident was also treated at the scene. A car caught on fire as a result of the shelling.

Serhii Bolvinov, Head of Kharkiv Police Investigation Department, stated that a man, who was injured in the attack on Vovchansk, was taken to hospital as he was in a car that burned down after the attack. According to him, the injured woman died when the policeman was taking her to hospital, while the other woman was slightly injured and not hospitalised.

Referring to the press service of Kharkiv regional police, russian army launched an air strike on Hlushkivka village of Kurylivka community. The strike caused gas leaks from damaged buildings. Three women, aged 58, 60 and 76, were injured in the attack. According to Syniehubov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, a 72-year-old woman was injured and hospitalised in Hlushkivka. One house was destroyed and three others damaged.

Yesterday more than 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including: Losivka, Bochkove of Chuhuiv region, Krasne Pershe, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove of Kupiansk region.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 17 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka of Kupiansk region.

At 3:10 pm, the invaders attacked Kurylivka village, Kupiansk region. A private house and a power line were damaged. There were no casualties. 

Combined teams of pyrotechnics demined 4.1 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast, destroying 377 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

The enemy keeps trying to attack towards Kupiansk. Fighting continues for Synkivka village as the invaders see it as a springboard for further offensives. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have not lost a single position. Also russians are leaving the bodies of their soldiers on the battlefield and retreating.

Kharkiv oblast is simultaneously fighting back and recovering. Currently, the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property contains about 45,000 objects, including more than 30,000 residential properties. During the year, restoration work at 41 sites was completed, including 35 apartment buildings and 6 healthcare facilities.

As part of the yeVidnovlennia programme, residents of Kharkiv oblast submitted about 25,000 applications for compensation, with more than UAH 1.1 billion counted for housing repairs.

About 570,000 hectares of agricultural land in the oblast are contaminated with explosive ordnance. Combined pyrotechnic teams have defused over 148K explosive ordnance. Military operations are ongoing on 72K hectares of land, which temporarily makes it impossible to clear them of explosives. However, all our efforts, including those of our international partners, are focused on this area.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that yesterday police recorded 18 russian attacks on civilians. The enemy attacked Avdiivka, Zalizne, Kurakhove, Toretsk cities, Niu-York settlement, Berdychi, Neskuchne, Novobakhmutivka, Novoselivka Persha, Orlivka, and Pereizne villages. Also the russian army used missiles, Uragan and Grad MRLs, artillery and tanks. 9 civilian objects were damaged: 5 private houses, a hospital and outbuildings.

Volodymyr Fito, Head of the public relations service, stated that russians are refraining from air strikes in the east because of the recent downing of russian aircraft. In addition, the intensity of the fighting near Bakhmut has decreased but russians are gathering reserves and plan to continue their offensive.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Avdiivka was under massive shelling towards Donetsk.  Enemy shells damaged the hospital and outbuildings. One person was injured. A house was damaged in Krasnohorivka of Marinka community, Kostiantynivka and Elyzavetivka were shelled. An industrial area was hit in Kurakhove.

Towards Horlivka, 4 houses were damaged in Toretsk community: 2 in Zalizne, 1 in Niu-York and Toretsk. 5 private houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community.

Towards Lysychansk, 1 person was injured in Pereizne of Zvanivka community as a result of shelling. Three streets were shelled in Serebrianka of Siversk community. Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community were under attack.

A russian missile hit a private house in Orlivka. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

Based on the information provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 8 russian attacks near Synkivka and east of Ivanivka. Also the russian army launched an airstrike near Ivanivka. According to the report, more than 30 settlements towards Slobozhanske and Kupiansk were targeted.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi community, informed that an educational space in the basement was opened in Derhachi, where children will be able to study outside of school. About 350 children from Derhachi and neighbouring communities plan to attend this space and school students from the community’s border settlements will be brought by school bus. According to him, the basement will withstand shelling and air strikes.

Yevhen Shapoval, Head of Vilkhuvatka Village Military Administration, said that russian channels and radio stations are being blocked in de-occupied Vilkhuvatka community. In December, Ukrainian TV and radio broadcasting was already heard there. Currently, about 2,700 people remain in the community, whereas before the full-scale war there were 6,000 residents.

The Tymur children’s theatre premiered the play Mavka for the first time in its own basement shelter. It was repaired with the help of colleagues and the actors’ parents. The theatre’s audience donated UAH 200 thousand for the repairs. Anton Zhyliakov, Theatre Director, explained that  the actors call the renovated shelter an art shelter, it is designed for 100 spectators and during an air raid, more people will be able to stay there..

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled three assaults in Serebrianka forestry, where the enemy tried to break through the Ukrainian defence using aircraft. 

The daily number of enemy attacks has increased significantly, while six months ago, this figure was on average 450 shells per day, now it is almost 600 or more every day.

Despite mortar attacks on Nevske, a weekly supply of bread was distributed to the residents of the de-occupied settlement. The aftermath of almost non-stop russian fire and bad weather complicated the logistics scheme but every resident of neighbouring Hrekivka, Makiivka and Novoliubivka will receive this aid.

In the March vote in the so-called “luhansk people’s republic”, public observers will work at all polling stations. They will have the right to observe the voting procedure both at the polling stations and outside the voting premises, i.e. on the road. Before the voting procedure begins, they will be engaged in agitation. Namely, they will inform citizens about the need to register in advance to be able to express their will outside the polling station. They will create preconditions for increasing the turnout and further falsification.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The head of Kyiv RMA Ruslan Kravchenko said that from December 28, 2023 to January 6, 2024, counter-sabotage and security measures will be intensified in the oblast. The Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the National Guard and the 114th separate ground defense brigade will be involved. The number of roadblocks is increasing in Kyiv oblast. Places where people gather will be subject to inspection, specifically shopping centers, supermarkets, train stations, medical facilities, etc.

Mykhailo Shcherbina, Deputy Director of the Department of Municipal Security, said that in 2023, more than UAH 7 billion  will be allocated from the city budget to help the military. In particular, under the “Defender of Kyiv” program, which is managed by the Department of Municipal Security, almost UAH 5 billion was allocated to help the military. He specified that UAH 3.5 billion of these funds went directly to the military units themselves. The city also allocates UAH 100 million to members of the voluntary formation of a territorial community as a reward for those volunteers who carried out combat orders during the year.

According to the program of  grants for veterans and their family members to start or develop their own business, 21 applicants will receive funds more than UAH 9.3 million. This will create 50 new jobs.

For the needs of the fighters of Obukhiv 135th separate battalion of the 114th brigade of the territorial defense, a vehicle with increased cross-country ability was purchased. 

A project to create InNikos canister therapy centres was launched in Kyiv. The non-profit project to create and popularize these centres was implemented thanks to a grant received in 2023 from the Royal Canin Foundation. In the future, four more canister therapy centres will be opened in different regions of the country. The project aims to help Ukrainians psychologically recover with the help of sessions with specially trained dogs.

The pre-premiere screening of the psychological drama “Soldier Boy”, based on the story of the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Oleksiy Rozumov “93%”, took place in the capital’s House of Cinema with the support of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine. The film touches on the issues of rehabilitation of wounded soldiers and tells about the connection between relatives. The guests of the screening were the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who took part in the shooting of the film and their comrades.

The second book “People’s Heroes of Ukraine. The stories of the real ones” was presented. The new book contains 45 interviews with those who defended and continue to defend Ukraine on the front lines. Unfortunately, not all the characters have survived – they were killed by the russians at the front. Among them are infantrymen, paratroopers, tankers, sappers, medics, and volunteers. Many of them were present at the presentation, having come from the front. 

KCSA reported that Kyiv locals are invited to register for the first online course of the  Ukrainian language called Yedyni (United). Andrii Khlyvniuk, leader of the Boombox band, who serves in the ranks of the Armed Forces, became the ambassador of the project. The language course starts on January 8, during 28 days the participants will receive free assignments and educational materials to overcome the language barrier.

Educational institutions of Kyiv oblast are enhancing safe conditions of the educational process. In particular, during 2023, 66 security classrooms, which are equipped with everything necessary, were opened.

On the basis of Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, the second Veterans Development Center in the region was opened. The center is designed to form an important resource for  veterans’ further professional and personal development. The university has already developed strategies and recommendations for training military personnel and veterans. There are special short-term programs and the possibility of training specialists for accompanying war veterans and demobilized persons, as well as their family members, as part of the implementation of the Veteran’s Assistant Institute in Ukraine, is being studied. Veteran development centres are also intended to become hubs for discussions and meetings of veterans and military personnel, planning joint business models or public activity.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, the Coordinating Council  was created to protect the rights and meet the needs of IDPs, to promote their adaptation and integration into Zhytomyr community. 14,306 IDPs are registered on the territory of the community.

 The first working meeting was held in Berdychiv veterans’ hub to unify and discuss possible options for the development of the hub and assistance to the city’s servicemen in general. They discussed the problems that our defenders face every day in civilian life, starting with receiving administrative services and ending with simply unpleasant situations in queues for doctors. 

Work on the construction of a shelter with an estimated cost of UAH 8 million continues in Berdychiv gymnasium. Currently, all external works have been practically completed, all communications connected, and a biological treatment station using Israeli technology currently being installed.

Sumy oblast

Sumy Regional Military Administration noted that at night, the russian army shelled Seredina-Buda community, there were 4 explosions. 

The russians carried out 20 shelling attacks on the border territories and settlements of Sumy oblast, there were 84 explosions. Khotyn, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Znob-Novhorodske and Seredina-Buda communities came under shelling.

Over the past two years, 69 million UAH was allocated to arrange shelters in medical institutions in Sumy, and 7 facilities were completed. In one of the institutions, where the anti-radiation shelter was repaired, and the relevant work completed. Patients can stay ther and receive medical assistance. 

Reconstruction of Trostyanets city hospital is underway. About 35 K people from the city and the neighbouring community receive help there. The premises of the hospital and polyclinic were heavily destroyed during the occupation of the settlement. Construction works on the facilities are ongoing.

Chernihiv oblast

The senior officer of the press service of Chernihiv border detachment Liubov Plonsak reported that russian troops shelled with mortars and barrel artillery two communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi and Snovsk. 

Anzhela Kotyk, volunteer and president of the association of humanitarian aid to Ukraine Help us Live, said that an ambulance was handed over to the military unit from Chernihiv oblast. The vehicle is equipped with additional stretchers, as well as oxygen systems. According to the volunteer, this is already the sixth ambulance that was handed over to the military. Money was collected by volunteers, in particular, at charity fairs.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of RMA reported that at night the Air Force shot down two enemy Shahed drones over Kryvyi Rih region. In Nikopol, a young man was killed by enemy fire and a 70-year-old woman was wounded. She was taken to the hospital. In total, the occupiers used 9 kamikaze drones and shelled Nikopol region 6 times with artillery. The region center and Pokrovsk community were attacked. An administrative building, 2 multi-storey buildings, 17 private houses, and 5 outbuildings were damaged, 1 was destroyed, 2 cars, fences, 3 power lines and the same number of gas pipelines, 40 solar panels were also damaged.

Additional martial law measures have been implemented in Dnipro and Synelnykove regions of Dnipropetrovsk oblast. These include a special regime of entry and exit and the commandant’s office establishment.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia City Council announced that a museum of military glory was opened in a Vinnytsia lyceum. Most of the exhibits are gifts from the military.

Among other things, the museum features chevrons, an information board with the history of Ukrainian hero cities that survived terrorist attacks. The museum also features the Ukraine will Live panel created by school students.

Poltava oblast

According to Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava RMA, Poltava region received 31 new lung ventilators. The equipment was purchased at the initiative of Italian charitable organizations and the Ukrainian diaspora in Italy. Thanks to funding from international donors it was possible to save money from the regional budget and make the delivery faster. The ventilators were sent to ten medical institutions in the region.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that another tranche of aid was sent from Cherkasy region to the Security and Defense Forces. 200 FPV drones, DJI Matrice 350 quadcopters, electronic means to counter UAVs, radio stations, night vision devices, thermal imaging equipment, office equipment, etc. were sent. All the equipment was sent to the defenders serving on the front line and to Cherkasy anti-aircraft machine gun battalion, which protects the sky over the region.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to Yurii Malashko, Head of Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, two men were killed and three people injured as a result of the russian artillery shelling of the Dnipro river coastline in Bilenke village, Zaporizhzhia oblast. The blast wave damaged a car. 

Yuriyi Malashko, Head of Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, reported that late in the evening of December 27, Ukrainian defenders repelled an attack by russian UAVs. 

On December 27, the russian army struck 151 times at the towns and villages of Zaporizhzhia oblast. 114 artillery attacks took place on the territory of Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Charivne, Piatikhatky, Kamianske, Lobkove and other frontline towns and villages.

Six airstrikes were conducted by the russian military on Orikhiv and Mala Tokmachka on December 27. As a result of the attack, multi-storey buildings were completely destroyed.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Military Administration reported that on December 27, at 10:42 a.m., the russian army shelled the village of Dmytrivka,  Kutsurub community with artillery. Also, on 27 December, at 23:09, the village of Solonchaky of the Kutsurub community was shelled. There were no casualties. On  December 27, at 12:18, 14:32, 15:03, artillery strikes were recorded on the water area of Ochakiv community. On December 27, at 22:48, the russian military shelled the town of Ochakiv in Ochakiv community with artillery.

Odesa oblast

The Armed Forces of South reported that on December 28, a Panamanian-flagged vessel was hit by a russian mine in the Black Sea. The bulk carrier was on its way to a Danube port to load grain. The vessel lost its momentum and control, and a fire broke out on the top deck. To avoid sinking, the captain fixed the ship in the shallows, the military said. The captain and a sailor, who is a citizen of Egypt, were injured. The latter is currently in a hospital in Izmail with a concussion and hip injury. Tugs were sent to the vessel to remove it from the shoal and bring it to the port. 

Ihor Domuiev, Head of Odesa regional prosecutor’s office, reported that since the start of the full-scale invasion, there have been 202 cases of shelling by the russian army in Odesa oblast, including 113 missile attacks (203 missiles were fired in total, excluding downed air defences), 70 drone attacks, two aerial bombardments and seven attacks by naval artillery.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reports that russian troops attacked Novotyanka in Kherson oblast. A 38-year-old man was injured. He was diagnosed with contusion and explosive trauma. The man is receiving medical care. 

Zolota Balka in Kherson oblast were shelled by the russian army more than 10 times. The post office was damaged. A 60-year-old man was injured.

The Armed Forces of the South destroyed two field supply points, a Grad multiple rocket launcher system, a mortar, and three vehicles. They eliminated a Merlin UAV, a boat and 17 russian servicemen.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that in Kherson oblast, one person was killed and six more wounded in shelling over the past day. The russian army fired 80 times at the territory of the region, using more than 400 shells. 

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

During the regular meeting of the Regional Defense Council, they discussed issues related to the stable functioning of the defense forces and the implementation of mobilization tasks, in particular, the work of military medical commissions.

The New Year’s holiday for children of Lutsk community, whose parents were killed defending Ukraine from the russian invasion, was organized in the Palace of Student Youth by employees of the Department of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth of Lutsk City Council. Over 120 children received gifts and sweets. Also the children were waiting for an entertainment program with fairy-tale characters.

Zakarpattia oblast

The leadership of Zakarpattia congratulated the children of military personnel on Christmas and the coming New Year. They were also given over 4K gifts during festive performances organized by regional cultural institutions in various regions of the oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Defenders from the anti-aircraft machine gun battalion, which was created in the Carpathian region and whose task is to protect the sky from enemy drones, received 24 portable Motorola radio stations, 24 car radios, car antennas, worth over UAH 2 mln. These are funds from the regional budget allocated within the framework of assistance programs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, a special car jointly purchased by the Asgard CF and employees of the department of economic development, industry and infrastructure of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast was sent to the frontline for the defenders.

The defenders of the 102nd separate brigades, who are currently fighting on the front lines, received computer equipment that meets all technical requirements, totalling over UAH 350K thanks to the regional budget as part of programs to support military formations.

Ruslan Martsinkiv, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk, announced that a DJI Mavic 3 Termal bird was sent to the A4640 military unit with funds from the My City of Ivano-Frankivsk fund. And also 2 DJI Mavic 3 Termal and 4 FPV drones were sent to the A7370 military unit.

Lviv oblast

In November of this year, 9 570 IDPs were accommodated in the private housing sector of Lviv oblast. The Department of Fuel and Energy Complex, Energy Efficiency and Housing and Communal Economy of Lviv oblast submitted an application for funding compensation for the costs of accommodation of IDPs in November 2023 in the amount of over UAH 4.2mln.

Horodok City Council donated 10 Mavic Pro, 2 Mavic 3T, 1 Autel, and 50 FPV drones to the defenders. Another hundred FPV drones will be sent in the coming days.

The RMA reported that about UAH 100K was donated to the nativity scenes of the villages of Pidberiztsi and Chornushovichi of Lviv district for the needs of soldiers from the community on the front line.

As part of the Birds of Victory all-Ukrainian charity project, 307 drones were sent to the military thanks to charity auctions, which were organized in Strii and Chervonohrad. During auctions were collected over UAH 3 mln for needs of the 24th separate mechanized brigades named after King Danylo, Strii and Chervonograd Territorial Defense and other military formations of the oblast.

41 memorial tables for defenders were approved in Lviv during the year. This number of memorial tables was approved by the executive committee of Lviv City Council in 2023. All tables will be installed according to the model approved by the city this year.

Rivne oblast

Sarnen community sent deep aerial reconnaissance equipment, namely, 30 Starlink satellite modems, powerful laptops, control panels and rechargeable batteries, communication amplifier antennas, control kits for kamikaze drones, total worth almost UAH 2.5 mln to the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade.

Rivne City Council reported that units of the National Guard of Ukraine, the 1st Separate Special Brigade named after Ivan Bohun and the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Corporal General Mark Bezruchka received drones purchased from the city budget.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council sent 5 quadcopters, namely, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopters, 2 DJI Mavic 3 quadcopters, 1 DJI Matrice 30T quadcopter, total worth over UAH 793 899 to the military.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A modern security classroom was installed in Myroliubnensk village community. This is the first classroom for this community, so the teachers made every effort to make the safe space comfortable and convenient for every age category of students. Currently, 55 security classrooms are successfully operating in Khmelnytskyi.

Chernivtsi oblast

This year in Bukovyna, 71 war veterans and their family members have received professional adaptation services worth UAH 778,8K. In particular, 70 of them are training and retraining drivers and one is a tractor driver.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

During 2023, the US provided Ukraine with 34 packages of military aid worth over $24 billion.

Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, announced that the US sent to Ukraine a new aid package, including missiles for air defense systems, artillery ammunition, demining equipment, and more, total worth $250 million.

Bridget Brink, US ambassador, announced that in December, another 16 grain trucks were sent to Ukrainian farmers, which should help with grain logistics.

Two German cities sent 5 trucks and modern garbage trucks to Kyiv. Leipzig sent 5 new fire-rescue vehicles: 2 Renault Kerax with 6×6 wheel formula, 2 MAN (4×4) vehicles with modern foam extinguishing systems, and an IVECO heavy-duty vehicle.

The European Investment Bank allocated EUR 3 mln to improve the energy efficiency of 18 public buildings. The allocated funds will be used to modernize 5 kindergartens and 3 schools in Zaporizhzhia, 4 kindergartens and 3 schools in Kamiansk, as well as in Lutsk – to modernize 3 hospitals intended for the treatment of the civilian population and the rehabilitation of military personnel injured during the war.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that India stopped accepting russian tankers. According to information from open sources, India was supposed to receive about 5 mln barrels of russian Sokol crude oil in the last four weeks, but all the tankers carrying it are now standing in neutral waters off the Indian coast – some for more than a month. This happened after the US launched a campaign to pursue “putin’s shadow fleet”. A possible reason could be US sanctions against tankers carrying russian oil, violating the price limit set by the G7 countries.

Ukraine opened an embassy in the African Republic of Ghana. “This is part of our strategy for developing relations with African countries, the Ukrainian-African renaissance, and countering russians’ influence in the world,” emphasized Dmytro Kuleba, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He also announced the opening of embassies in Rwanda, Mozambique and Botswana. In total, the Ministry plans to open representative offices in ten African countries.
