It has been the 656th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine. The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

On December 11, there were 73 combat clashes.

The enemy launched a total of 10 missile strikes and 46 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential buildings as well as other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there are no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group are noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Around 15 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Kliusy (Chernihiv oblast), Znob-Novhorodske, Popivka, Porokhon, (Sumy oblast), Okhrimivka, Vovchansk, Budarky, and Pletenivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Syn’kivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian defense forces repelled 8x attacks in the vicinities of Spirne and Vesele (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Tors’ke, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Pivnichne (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements, including Markove, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Niu York (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Avdiivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled 36 attacks in the area east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, south of Sjeverne, south of Tonen’ke, Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy was making unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Stepove, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomais’ke (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Marinka, Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy launched 12 failed attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders. The settlements of Heorhiivka, Kostyantynivka, Marinka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast) were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Towards Shakhtarske, the russian army conducted no offensives. Around 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian defense forces repelled 3 enemy attacks north of Pryyutne and west of Novopokrovka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 20 settlements, including Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), and Nikopol (Dnipropetrovsk oblast) came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the enemy fired artillery at the settlement of Antonivka (Kherson oblast) and the city of Kherson.

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold their ground on the left bank of the Dnipro River (Kherson oblast) and inflict fire on the enemy.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 2 strikes on builups of troops, weapons and military equipment of the russian invaders.

Ukrainian missile troops hit 2 strikes on buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 ammunition depot, 1 command post, and 1 artillery system.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka RMA, says that 12 people were evacuated  from the shelter of the Avdiivka Coke Plant, who had been there since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Now psychologists are working with them. 

The Main Intelligence Directorate reports that the operation to rescue Ukrainian citizens from the Gaza Strip is over. 315 people were evacuated  from the danger zone: 304 Ukrainians, 2 Palestinians, and 9 Moldovans. Among the rescued people are two people with injuries, a cancer patient, a pregnant woman, and two citizens who coordinated Ukrainian military scouts directly in the conflict zone.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko informs that Ukraine has been resisting russia’s full-scale armed aggression for more than 21 months. During this time, police investigators recorded more than 102,000 war crimes committed by the russian federation. On average, russians commit 160 war crimes every day. These include shelling, executions of civilians, abuse of civilians, sexual violence, illegal deportation, abductions, and illegal imprisonment. Because of russia’s armed aggression, there is not a single place in Ukraine that is completely safe. The National Police of Ukraine is constantly updating the special database War Criminal, which contains data of all identified persons involved in the military aggression of the russian federation against our country. As of now, this registry has more than 240 K entries. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Colonel-General Syrskyi confirmed that russian troop casualties in the east are eight times higher than those of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. In November, the russian army lost about 11,000 soldiers and more than 1,100 pieces of military equipment.

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that more than 18 settlements in the region were hit by artillery and mortar fire: Kozacha Lopan of Kharkiv region, Hrafske, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka and Berestove of Kupiansk region.

The enemy launched air strikes on the outskirts of Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Pershotravneve, Cherneshchyna and Druzheliubivka.

Around 10:30 am, a fire broke out in Kurylivka village, Kupiansk region, as a result of enemy shelling, damaging 4 garages and a private building.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 4 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Petropavlivka.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, informed that in order to create conditions for blocking Kupiansk, russia is trying to capture Synkivka with assault companies, but is suffering losses. According to him, russians have begun to redeploy assault units that were in reserve to the area.

Over the past week, pyrotechnics examined more than 80 hectares of Kharkiv oblast and defused more than 2,100 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

Over the six months of its operation, Kharkiv Coordination Centre has provided assistance to 104,000 IDPs. Kharkiv Regional Military Administration established the Coordination Centre for Civilian Support in June 2023. Similar centres are already operating in 46 territorial communities of the region.

In the communities of Kharkiv oblast, housing destroyed by the invaders is being repaired. In Derhachi, major repairs of 7 houses have been completed. 10 more by the end of December will be finished. All 17 projects are being implemented at the expense of the fund for the elimination of the consequences of armed aggression and co-financing from the local budget. In addition to eliminating the consequences of enemy attacks, the houses are being equipped with basements, entrances, staircases, plastering and facade work. Design and estimate documentation is being developed for a number of residential buildings, which will be restored next year. People are returning home and waiting for the restoration. The community currently has about 20,000 residents.

The press services of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office and the Security Service of Ukraine reported that russian troops, who were suspected of raping a girl during the occupation of Kharkiv oblast in the spring of 2022, have been served with another suspicion. Investigators have established another fact of rape.

Oleh Ivanov, Head of the evacuation department at the Coordination Humanitarian Centre, stated that the victims of the accident on Kharkiv’s ring road were Artur, a 27-year-old volunteer from the I Am Rescued organisation, and his 23-year-old wife.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff, over 85 russian attacks were repelled by Ukrainian troops towards Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Lyman, Marinka and Shakhtarsk on 10 December. Also russian army conducted most attacks near Avdiivka.

Donetsk police registered 17 russian attacks during the day. Alao russian troops attacked 9 settlements. Preliminary, there were no casualties. The invaders attacked Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Toretsk cities, Ocheretyne settlement, Berdychi, Berestky, Klishchiivka, Orlivka and Sokil villages. The enemy used aircraft, Grad multiple rocket launchers and artillery. 22 residential buildings and a shop were damaged.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, towards Donetsk, Yelyzavetivka and Katerynivka of Marinka community were shelled with artillery. In Kurakhove community, 4 buildings were damaged in Berestky and the private sector of Kurakhove shelled.

Towards Horlivka, a shop was destroyed in Toretsk. In Chasiv Yar community, 6 private buildings and an outbuilding were damaged. In Soledar community, Rozdolivka was under attack.

Towards Lysychansk, a building was damaged in Serebrianka of Siversk community. Verkhnokamianske and Pereizne of Zvanivla community, Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community were shelled.

Oleksandr Shtupun, Spokesman of the joint press centre of Tavriisk Defence Forces, reported that russian army launched an offensive using armoured vehicles towards Avdiivka and Marinka 10 December. Yesterday russiana lost almost 400 servicemen in Donetsk oblast.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, russian aviation became more active at the front, the invaders conducted a raid in Bilovodsk region. Enemy attack and tactical aircraft were engaged along the entire frontline in Luhansk oblast yesterday. The invaders attacked Tverdokhlibove, north of Svatove and Makiivka. Serebrianka forest also suffered. The daily number of shells fired at our positions and villages is not decreasing either, this time it was 537. Nevske and Bilohorivka were shelled. Enemy attacks were repelled from Makiivka.

The invaders arranged another check of the population in Bilovodsk region. They are going door-to-door, talking to the owners of the houses, looking through documents, the contents of mobile phones, the presence of registration and russian passports. They are also checking whether any other houses are empty.

Luhansk police delivered humanitarian aid to residents of de-occupied Novoliubivka. Food and hygiene kits, blankets, lanterns, dishes and a generator were delivered to the residents of the village of Krasnorichensk community.

A shelter for the temporary accommodation of internally displaced persons from Starobilsk region has been opened in Medenychi community. It can accommodate 16 people.

The invaders want to ban the movement of cars with Ukrainian licence plates in the “lpr” from 1 January 2024. To have time to change the number plate, you need to have a russian passport.

Oleksandr Striuk, Head if Sievierodonetsk City Military Administration, reported that it is becoming increasingly difficult to leave the city.  The invaders are thoroughly checking the documents of the townspeople. They are installing payphones in Sievierodonetsk to replace the lack of mobile phone service. Due to the lack of centralised heating in Sievierodonetsk, there are interruptions in electricity and water supply as there is not enough capacity to switch on heaters. About 15K people are staying there. All the rest are on tour. The options for opening new production facilities in Sievierodonetsk after its de-occupation are discussed.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Serhii Popko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that at around 4am, russians fired 8 ballistic missiles at Kyiv oblast. The attack was launched from the northern direction. All targets were destroyed by air defence forces.

During the repulsion of a missile attack, the debris fell in Darnytsia district of Kyiv. Four residents of Bortnychi were injured and received first aid on the spot. A rocket fragment also damaged an unfinished building, which was quickly extinguished.

The rocket attack damaged power grid facilities, leaving 120 homes in Darnytsia district of the capital without electricity. As of 12 pm, power engineers had restored electricity to all the homes.

Yurii Ihnat, Air Force spokesman, reported that the explosions in Kyiv occurred before the air raid alert was announced. The russian forces could have launched missiles at Kyiv from Iskander-M or S-400 ground-based systems. Launching from the ground is more difficult to detect than that from aircraft.

According to Kyiv CMA, from December 11 to 14, military drills of Kyiv Defence Forces Grouping will take place in Darnytsia district of Kyiv. The purpose is to increase combat capabilities in the preparation and conduct of a defence operation. Personnel, regular military equipment and weapons will be involved.

According to Kyiv RMA, Kyiv oblast additionally allocated more than UAH 10 million to form a material reserve in case of emergencies in the energy sector – stocks of equipment, spare parts, pumping equipment, and reagents. 

A (Un)visible Stories photo exhibition dedicated to nine internally displaced Ukrainians was opened in Kyiv. The photo exhibition is presented at the Rescue Centre, where internally displaced Ukrainians receive free comprehensive social and psychological support. The photographs presented at the exhibition show the most valuable things that the project’s heroes were able to take with them during the evacuation.

Zhytomyr oblast

An integrated project on comprehensive protection, education and mental health support for internally displaced children and families is being implemented in Zhytomyr oblast. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Humanitarian Foundation and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The oblast has launched the Address of Childhood initiative, which provides for the construction of own housing for foster families of IDPs. A special emphasis is made on families raising 5 or more orphans or children deprived of parental care who lost their own homes as a result of hostilities.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that russians shelled Seredyna-Buda community. There were 20 attacks from multiple rocket launchers.  

Over the past day, the russian military fired 8 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. There were 52 explosions – attacks from mortars, MLRS, AGS, attacks with FPV drones and automatic small arms. Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda and Seredyna-Buda communities were under hostile fire.

Sumy RMA reported that a new pilot project to help veterans and IDPs is being launched in Sumy oblast. The initiative will run until the end of 2025. It will be implemented by the United Nations Development Programme with funding from the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The expected project budget is over $1.6 million.

The final module of a free training course for war-affected people who want to start their own business is held in Sumy. During the 2 days of the training, participants will gain knowledge to start and run a sole proprietorship on their own.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service reported that russian troops conducted 15 mortar attacks on the border of Chernihiv oblast. Two communities in the oblast came under fire. Semenivka community – 4 mortar attacks near the village of Arkhypivka. Snovsk community – 11 mortar attacks near the villages of Kliusy and Khrinivka.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, reported that over the past week, the russian military fired 26 times at 15 border settlements in Chernihiv oblast. There were 284 enemy attacks during this period. The enemy carried out 2 air strikes using SU-35 aircraft (6 explosions).

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

During the day the enemy attacked 3 times with artillery and used 2 kamikaze drones on Nikopol region. The occupiers hit Nikopol itself and Marhanets community. There were no damages or casualties.

The East  Air Command reported that around 3 pm an Kh-59 missile was  shot down over Kryvyi Rih region.

Vinnytsia oblast

Another batch of aid was sent to two recipients at once. The military unit deployed in Vinnytsia and the Vinnytsia State Experimental Prosthetic and Orthopedic Enterprise received two powerful generators from the Interregional Coordination Humanitarian Headquarters. A 300 KW generator for the military will be reliable belay in case of power outages, employees will be able to work under any conditions. Another generator with a capacity of 180 KW was sent to Vinnytsia prosthetic factory to ensure uninterrupted operation of the enterprise in energy crisis conditions.

Seven-year-old Tymofii Kovalevskyi who studies at primary school No. 25 in Vinnytsia sold his own fairy tales for UAH 15 K  to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The boy is energetic and conscious. In his free time he writes and sells fairy tales and all collected funds donates to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Timofii wrote his first book when he was six. His grandmother helped in creating the book – back then the boy dictated and she wrote everything down on paper. In total, there were five fairy tales with colour illustrations.

Kirovohrad oblast

Kirovohrad regional budget for 2023 provides 80 million UAH for social protection of Ukrainian defenders. The money is sent to wounded soldiers and families of fallen ones. Almost 31,200 veterans live in Kirovohrad oblast, including 21K combatants, 3K people with disabilities as a result of the war, 4,200 family members of fallen veterans, including 2,400 family members of fallen military, and 3 K participants in the war. In UAH 2023, 78.4 millions  was allocated for the military social support program , their families, families of fallen soldiers and their commemoration. Of these, nearly UAH 30 million was paid to two thousand wounded. UAH 20.8 million was paid to 692 families of fallen soldiers. 573 children of fallen soldiers were paid annual financial assistance in the amount of UAH 1.7 million, including 10 orphans. 109 people with disabilities as a result of the war participated in a rehabilitation program at Znamianka Balneological Hospital. Reimbursed expenses for the burial of 355 defenders made UAH 4.3 million. Medical examinations were carried out and medicines worth UAH 3.9 million were purchased.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava oblast, residents paid tribute to defenders of Ukraine – Oleksandr Zakharchenko and Volodymyr Kravchuk. Oleksandr Zakharchenko was wounded on November 20, 2023 in Donetsk oblast. Comrades managed to take the man out of the battlefield. The soldier underwent nine operations at Mechnykov Regional Hospital. Three more operations at Kyiv hospital. However, on December 7, Oleksandr Zakharchenko’s heart stopped. He was 45 years old. His wife and 6 kids remained without him. 

Volodymyr Kravchuk was killed on December 6 in Cherkaske village of Donetsk oblast, while performing a combat mission. He was 27 years old.

Cherkasy oblast

Anatolii Bondarenko, City Mayor, reported that in Cherkasy, residents paid tribute to the fallen defender Yevhen Kovalenko. He was killed in action in Donetsk oblast. The deceased was 34 years old.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, russian forces launched 78 attacks on 16 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 62 artillery shelling incidents targeted locations such as Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Chervone, Novodanylivka, Levadne, Bilohiria, Preobrazhenka, Kamianske, Mali Shcherbaky, and other frontline towns and villages. The enemy shelled railway and road infrastructure and attacked Novodarivka, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Luhivske, and Robotyne with 15 drones. There were no reports of destruction or casualties.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled three attacks near Robotyne on Zaporizhzhia front. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue active operations towards melitopol, inflicting losses on the occupation forces in personnel and equipment, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

Viktor Dudukalov, Deputy Head of Berdiansk Regional Council,  revealed that russians are forcing residents of the temporarily occupied Berdiansk to re-register vehicles with Ukrainian license plates. This requirement is related to the planned introduction of mandatory insurance starting January 1, 2024. According to Dudukalov, to replace a vehicle’s license plate, residents need to have a russian passport.

Mykolaiv oblast

During the night of December 10, occupiers launched Shahed-131/136 drones in the southern regions. All 18 enemy drones launched from the Crimean Peninsula were successfully shot down by air defense forces (13 over the Mykolaiv oblast). However, the debris caused damage, including warehouses of agricultural enterprises and agricultural machinery in Kutsurub and Snihurivka communities. Private houses were damaged in Ochakiv community. There were no casualties. This information was reported by the head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim.

In 2024, Mykolaiv military personnel, war veterans, or their family members may receive 20 grants of 10K euros each to support or start their own business. This was discussed during the public consultations on opportunities for veterans and their families in Mykolaiv oblast. The support program was initiated by the Adult Education and Training Center Pivden in partnership with DVV International in Ukraine and with financial support from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

Odesa oblast

Air defense forces successfully shot down two Shahed-131/136 drones in Odesa oblast during the russian attack on the night of December 10 to 11. There is no information about casualties or fatalities. This information was reported by the South Operational Command.

The Bethlehem Peace Light has arrived in Odesa. Every year, before Christmas, this mission is taken on by the Plast scouts. The organization plans to spread the light as much as possible in hospitals and brigades. In recent years, the Peace Light has been transported by Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways). The primary locations for spreading the light are the railway stations across the country.

Projects for the psychological rehabilitation of children affected by the war will be implemented at two facilities in Odesa oblast—the Ukrainian Medical Center for Mother and Child Rehabilitation and the Specialized Sanatorium Arkadia. This information was announced by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Kherson oblast

Today, the enemy shelled Kherson community. As a result of the attack, four people were affected. A 69-year-old local resident died under the rubble of a building in Antonivka. A 59-year-old injured man was taken to the hospital. In Kherson,a 24-year-old man suffered severe injuries, diagnosed with injuries to his jaw, chest, and legs. Additionally, a 34-year-old Kherson resident came under enemy fire and is currently in a medical facility.

Kherson RMA reported that the russian army struck Dniprovsky district of Kherson city. They targeted an administrative building where employees were present, but no one was harmed.

Yesterday, the enemy conducted 84 shelling attacks, firing 435 projectiles from mortars, artillery, Grad MLRS, tanks, UAVs, and aviation. The enemy fired 11 shells at the city of Kherson. 2 people were injured as a result of the russian aggression. The police have initiated 5 criminal investigations into war crimes committed by russian forces in Kherson oblast.

Tiahynka, Sadove, Stanislav, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Zymivnyk, Komyshany, and Kherson came under enemy fire. The police documented damage to 12 objects in these settlements, including private and multi-story buildings, medical, and educational institutions.

All districts of Kherson city were shelled. Enemy shells damaged residential buildings along the coastline. A building of one of the oldest educational institutions in the city, previously damaged in russian attacks and almost completely burned, suffered further damage.

The enemy continues to strengthen and equip its positions by bringing in reserves in the responsibility zone of the Southern Defense Forces. They observe and maintain pressure with artillery shelling while using drones. However, there are no signs of forming offensive groups.

The defense forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, delivering effective fire on the enemy. In the past day, the enemy lost 23 occupiers, 1 tank, 1 mortar, and 6 armoured vehicles. Three observation posts on the left bank of the Dnipro were destroyed.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of russia adopted a resolution on holding presidential elections in March 2024 in the occupied territories of Ukraine where martial law has been declared by the russian authorities. Representatives of the CEC, the russian Ministry of Defense, as well as representatives of the “L/DNR” and the occupation authorities of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts participated in consultations on holding elections in the occupied territories.

Mobile medical teams continue to provide assistance to residents of Kherson. Thanks to the public organization “Casers” within the framework of the “Ukrainian Rapid Response Fund” program, doctors provided consultations and ultrasound diagnostics to 84 residents in the villages of Novopavlivka, Borozenske, and Blahodativka over three days.

Volunteers from the humanitarian mission Proliska provided construction kits to residents whose homes were damaged due to enemy shelling. After another attack, 22 residents of the Central and Korabelny districts of the city, whose homes were destroyed, received construction kits, tarpaulins, and OSB sheets. This assistance was made possible by UNHCR Ukraine – the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.

The stolen painting “Near the Oak, Rusalkas Silently Waited…” from the collection of the Kherson Art Museum by Lyudmyla Vitkovska was reproduced on one of the scarves of the charity collection “Stolen Art,” released by the Ukrainian brand OLIZ. Liudmyla Vitkovska is a master of decorative painting on paper who worked in Kherson oblast.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Military unit 4100 received a Mitsubishi L200 pickup and equipment thanks to the funds of employees of Lutsk City Council and its structural divisions, who donate their daily earnings to the Armed Forces every month. Such an initiative was launched immediately after russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Zakarpattia oblast

Diplomats from over 20 European countries are in Zakarpattia. Heads of diplomatic missions visited Berehove. A briefing of heads of Zakarpattia was held in Berehov, where officials answered questions of heads of diplomatic missions of the member countries, talked about peculiarities of the life of the oblast’s national minorities, the interaction between all branches of government and the prospects of cross-border initiatives.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk City Council allocated UAH 340K for 17 defenders who are currently defending Ukraine or were disabled or injured before the anniversary of the full-scale invasion. Since the beginning of the year, 903 soldiers have applied for such help in the amount of UAH 18,06 mln.

Lviv oblast

25 servicemen from Lviv were posthumously awarded with the Honorary badge of St. George. Their relatives received awards.

In Duliby, on the facade of a gymnasium, the opening and consecration of memorial plaques to fallen soldiers took place. Memorial signs appeared in honour of Vasyl Vysyvany, Kyril Vysyvanyi and Vasyl Hural. Two brothers Vasyl and Kyrylo Vysyvany were killed in the war with a difference of 10 days. First, on March 4, 2022, his younger brother, a 28-year-old fighter of the 80th brigade, Vasyl, killed in a battle with occupiers in Mykolaiv oblast. And on March 13, during the attack on the International Peacekeeping Center near Lviv, 34-year-old Major Kyrylo Vyshivany was killed.

For teachers of physical culture, basics of health, defense of Ukraine and medical nurses of educational institutions of Morshyn community, the Basic Life Support and Stopping Bleeding training were conducted at the Strii United City Hospital Territorial Medical Association.

Rivne oblast

The Veteran Admin Service became operational in Dubna and Varasha. Currently, half of the administrative service centers of the oblast have already joined the new service.

A Safety Classroom has started working on the basis of Hlynniv Lyceum of Bereziv community. He became the 15th in Sarnensky region and the 83rd in Rivne oblast.

Ternopil oblast

The 2nd Center for Digital Accessibility in Ukraine has been opened in Lanovets community. Digital accessibility centers are a place where people of different social groups can conveniently and affordably receive educational services and consultations without barriers and discrimination, according to their needs and capabilities.

Ternopil City Council reported that for the needs of Ternopil defenders,  5 Mitsubishi and Ford pickups were sent to the combat zone. These are cars with an open cargo platform, thanks to which it is easy and quick to transport small loads. 

In Ternopil, a costumed race of St. Nicholas took place under the motto – Become Nicholas for the Defenders. 40 participants joined this initiative and covered a distance of 5 km. With the funds collected during the race, kits were formed for the defenders, which included socks, thermal warmers, dry borscht and gingerbread, dry showers, rosary beads, icons, drawings and stuffed dolls. 

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The charitable unifying event called Run Under Cooling Towers. Trail and the traditional Race to St. Nicholas’ Day in Varasha, in which atomic workers of the Khmelnytskyi NPP took part in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held. Funds collected during the charity event will be used to purchase the necessary equipment for the Armed Forces. During 2023, the Khmelnytskyi NPP held over 30 charity events, which raised over UAH 2 mln to support the Armed Forces.

Chernivtsi oblast

Volodymyr Fedotov, defender from the village of Cheponosi of Rukshyn community, received the Golden Cross from Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for his courage and successful performance of tasks during the battle.

Sweden announced a winter aid package for Ukraine worth EUR 120 mln. The funds taken from Sweden’s aid budget, among other things, will be used to purchase heating equipment and increase the capacity of the Ukrainian electricity grid. It is also about other measures that will help Ukrainians survive the winter, for example, the construction of shelters. According to Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister, this is the largest support within the framework of Sweden’s bilateral aid to Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain reported that the country will send 2 Sandown warships equipped with trawls for searching and neutralizing mines with anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weapons to Ukraine.

Carsten Breuer, Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, announced that Germany can supply Ukraine with about 200K artillery ammunition next year.

Britain and Norway created a maritime coalition to help Ukraine. Ships and other vehicles will be supplied to the Armed Forces to strengthen combat capabilities at sea.

The British government will create a unit to fight companies that evade anti-russian sanctions. The Office of Trade Sanctions Implementation will be responsible for the civil enforcement of trade sanctions, the investigation of potential violations, the imposition of fines, and the referral of cases for criminal prosecution.

Josep Borrell, EU High Representative, announced that ministers of the European Union will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. Options will be presented at the leaders’ summit, which will take place on December 14-15. He also noted that it is important that the military support of Ukraine continues at the European level, and not only at the bilateral level.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Santiago Pena, Paraguayan President. They discussed ways of developing trade between Ukraine and Paraguay.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Luis Lacaller Pau, President of Uruguay. The Ukraine-Latin America summit was discussed.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Daniel Noboa, President of Ecuador. They discussed possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Ecuador, namely, in the field of security, digitalization and trade in agricultural products.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Positions were coordinated before the meeting of the European Council.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Emmanuel Macron, President of France. Priority needs and another French defense package, which will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s firepower, were discussed.
