The russian federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine. The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets.
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
There were 69 combat engagements.
The enemy launched 3 missile strikes, 15 air strikes, 18 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Towards Lyman, the invaders made failed assaults in the area of Serebrianske forestry, Luhansk oblast, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 attacks. The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Bakhmut, the invaders conducted offensives near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klischiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 attacks. Around 15 settlements, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar, Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, New York, Donetsk oblast, came under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Avdiivka, the invaders made assaults east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne, south of Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Donetsk oblast, to no success. Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 attacks in the area. The enemy fired from artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Sieverne, Stepove, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, Donetsk oblast.
Towards Mariinka, the invaders made failed assaults in the vicinities of Mariinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian defense forces repelled 9 attacks. The occupiers launched an airstrike near Pobjeda, Donetsk oblast. The settlements of Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka, Pobieda, Donetsk oblast, were under the occupiers’ artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives southeast of Vuhledar, west of Staromaiorske, Donetsk oblast. Around 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Vodyane, Prechystivka, Urozhaine, Donetsk oblast, came under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy made 8 attempts to regain lost ground south of Robotyne and west and northwest of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia oblast, to no success. Around 15 settlements, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Zaporizhzhia oblast came under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kherson, the enemy fired artillery at the cities of Kherson, Kherson oblast and Ochakiv, Mykolaiv oblast.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold their ground on the left bank of the Dnipro River, Kherson oblast, and inflict fire on the enemy.
The Ukrainian missile troops hit 4x artillery systems of the russian invaders.
Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed 1 Kh-59 air-launched cruise missile.
Two minor children and their parents were returned from the temporarily occupied territories. The occupation authorities forced parents to change their children’s Ukrainian birth certificates to russian-style documents.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, russia has damaged or destroyed 863 cultural heritage sites. 23 monuments were completely destroyed, 663 monuments were partially damaged, and the degree of damage to 177 objects remains unknown.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops launched air strikes near Kozacha Lopan and Petropavlivka. Near Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka, russians conducted assaults and Ukrainian troops repelled seven of their attacks. At least 30 settlements towards Slobozhanske and Kupiansk were under attack.
The press service of Kharkiv City Council reported that in case of blackouts in Kharkiv, about 1,100 shops, 316 pharmacies, 128 petrol stations and other establishments will be closed.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said that in Kharkiv oblast, fortifications are being built in the north of the region. The first lines of defences will be erected at a distance of several kilometres from the enemy’s positions. The priority is Kupiansk and Borove directions.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated that the underground school in Kharkiv is scheduled to be completed in January 2024. About 900 children will be able to study in the building in two shifts.
The enemy shelled frontline and border settlements of Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk regions over the day.
As a result of a guided bomb attack on Kurylivka village, Kupiansk region, a private household and a garage were damaged.

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defence forces repelled 8 russian attacks towards Lyman, 21 towards Bakhmut and 21 towards Avdiivka on 1 December. Yesterday russian forces stormed near Novomykhailivka, while they did not advance in Shakhtarske.
Stanislav Baldin, Spokesman of Donetsk State Emergency Service, and Oleksandr Shevchenko, Head of the City Military Administration, said that after the missile strike in Novohrodivka, the rubble of a house continues to be dismantled. As of 9:30 am, no bodies of the family and child have been found. A cynologist and a dog are involved in the search. As of 6 pm, the debris removal of the three-storey apartment building was suspended so that law enforcers could examine the site of the shelling in detail. Stanislav Baldin added that three people may be trapped under the rubble, including a child.
Oleksandr Shtupun, Spokesman of Tavriisk direction press centre, informed that the number of russian attacks decreased towards Avdiivka. The Armed Forces of Ukraine control the coke plant. Heavy fighting continues in the industrial area.
Volodymyr Fito, Head of public relations of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that over the past month, russian troops lost about 8,700 soldiers towards Bakhmut, particularly, on 1 December, Ukrainian soldiers eliminated 235 invaders.
Reffering to the National Resistance Centre in the occupied part of Donetsk oblast, locals are receiving messages calling to join the ranks of russian occupation forces.
Towards Volnovakha, a building was damaged in Bohoiavlenka of Vuhledar community.
Towards Horlivka, 1 person was killed, 6 private buildings, 3 apartment blocks and an industrial building were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. In Toretsk community, 1 person was injured and 14 buildings damaged: 8 in Pivnichne and 6 in Toretsk. In Soledar community, Rozdolivka and Minkivka were shelled.
Towards Lysychansk, a building was damaged in Serebrianka of Siversk community. Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community were shelled.
Ihor Moroz, Acting Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, confirmed that yesterday russians killed 1 civilian in Chasiv Yar. Two more people were injured in the region.
According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, when the weather allows, the invaders use their air superiority to support ground operations from the sky. Yesterday they attacked Serebrianka forest, the territory of which they tried to storm eight times. Several more enemy attacks were repelled near Stelmakhivka.
Nevske and Bilohorivka were under artillery and mortar attack.
At the entrance to Kreminna, russians check the places of registration, current residence and the mobile phone number. However, they are unable to call the number until the person leaves in the opposite direction as there is no connection there at the moment.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, reported that in the occupied part of Svatove region, gas supply is being cut off in the houses where russian soldiers used to live. The owners evacuated long ago and russians themselves have not paid anything for gas for a year and a half. The next person who chooses to stay there will have to pay for the comfort of their previous residents.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in Kyiv and Ukrainian officials met on December 1 at Boryspil International Airport and discussed President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s Peace Formula. The President’s Office reported that Boryspil Airport became the first facility to be closed due to the start of a full-scale war, but at the same time, it will be the first facility to be opened when the security situation allows.
This week, rescuers conducted tactical and special training at a critical infrastructure facility in Boryspil region. As reported by the State Emergency Service, the goal was to improve the skills of units in terms of organization and tactics of firefighting and liquidation of emergency situations at objects with a high level of danger.
Metropolitan law enforcement officers received forensic laboratories for rapid DNA analysis. Kyiv police received modern devices as part of the international technical assistance project “Strengthening the capacity of the National Police of Ukraine in the fight against the invasion of the russian federation.”
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration held a series of meetings with contractors who participate in the restoration of facilities that are being rebuilt at the expense of the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression and in accordance with regional programs for arranging shelters and building private houses. Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klychko said that in order to ensure the life of the capital during martial law, the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi bridge crossing has been opened for special transport, emergency service vehicles and bus service for passengers from the left bank to the right bank. This bridge crossing is the largest of the transport infrastructure objects of Ukraine, its length is more than 10 km.

A round table on the topic: “On the way to success: Referendum 1991 and legislative progress of decentralization” was held at Ukrinform.
The information course “GULAG. The history of the struggle” was presented in the capital. As part of it, a short documentary film was shown about the stories of imprisoned people who, despite everything, did not stop the struggle and were raising uprisings in the GULAG concentration camps. On November 30, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi announced that the first shelters according to the new standards will be set up next year in educational institutions of the Zhytomyr community. The Ministry of Education and Science, Zhytomyr City Council and the Representative Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) signed a memorandum of understanding. As part of the signing of the memorandum, the standardization of approaches for the construction of shelters and typical projects for the construction of shelters will be developed, which will allow communities to reduce the time spent on project and estimate documentation and spend money purely on geological works tied to a specific area.

Sumy RMA reported that the russians carried out 2 shellings of the border areas and settlements of the oblast. The communities of Seredina-Buda and Znob-Novhorodske were hit by mortar fire, 8 explosions were recorded.
During the past day, 4 shelling of the border area were recorded on the territory of the oblast – a total of 20 explosions were heard. Three communities were shelled: Krasnopillia – 9 mortar hits, Bilopillia – 2 artillery hits and 5 mortar hits, Seredina-Buda – 4 mortar hits.
Sumy RMA reported that they plan to rebuild the city council premises in the city of Okhtyrka, destroyed in March 2022 by a russian airstrike. The building was completely destroyed and could not be restored. As of today, the organization that will design this premise has already been determined.
Serhiy Dedenko, the head of the Semenivka community, announced that russian troops shelled the village of Oleksandrivka in the Semenivka community. As a result of the shelling, two people were injured, and one residential building burned down. The head of Chernihiv RMA Vyacheslav Chaus announced that a family that came to visit a relative in the border village was injured: the man suffered shrapnel wounds, his daughter is being transported to the regional hospital for surgery.
Last day, russian troops launched 18 mortar strikes on the border of Chernihiv oblast. As reported in the SBGS, the shelling took place in the area of the village of Plohiv of the Snovsk territorial community.
Chernihiv volunteers are preparing 10,000 boxes of goodies for children and soldiers from the frontline regions. Chernihiv charitable fund “Iskra Dobra” together with the local bakery and volunteer organization Nova Ukraine are organizing a holiday for children from the frontline regions for the second year in a row. Up to 1,700 such sets are prepared per day.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council reported that at night the Air Force shot down an enemy missile over Dnipro district of the region. The occupiers fired artillery at Chervonohryhoriv community of Nikopol district.
Almost eight thousand gifts for the military were collected in Dnipro schools. Children, their parents and teachers prepared the gifts. The packages contain goodies, warm socks, handmade charms and drawings.
Dnipropetrovsk oblast has sheltered more than 400,000 migrants since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, of which 135,500 are women. This is one of the largest indicators of the IDPs number in Ukraine. The largest number of migrants came from Donetsk region (56.3%). Also Dnipropetrovsk region is in the top three among the regions where business has relocated. According to Opendatabot 710 enterprises moved to the oblast.
Serhii Borzov, Governor of Vinnytsia oblast announced that Vinnytsia RMA sent four cars to the anti-aircraft machine gun battalion.
During the week 437 food packages and 30 kits from the International Organization for Migration were issued in the local hub of Vinnytsia IDPs from Luhansk region. According to it Luhansk residents also received 264 sets of hygiene products from Proliska Humanitarian Mission.
Philip Pronin, Head of Poltava RMA announced that two more cars for defenders were sent from Poltava region.
In Cherkasy region, in Hrushkivka village paid tribute to defender Yurii Ivanov. He was considered missing since May 2023.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
The Ministry of Energy reported that on December 1, a complete blackout occurred at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, posing a potential risk of a nuclear catastrophe. Fortunately, all 20 diesel generators were automatically activated. Ukrainian experts managed to restore the connection to the Ukrainian power system successfully earlier today.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the russian military made eight unsuccessful attempts to reclaim lost territory in the Robotyne areas on Zaporizhzhia front. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces thwarted four attacks west of Verbove.
On December 1, the russian military carried out 99 strikes on cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Specifically, areas such as Hulyaipole, Levadne, Poltavka, Novopavlivka, Kamianske, Chervone, Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, Stepove, and Plavni were targeted a total of 80 times with artillery fire.
Vitaliy Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv RMA reported that on December 1, the russian military conducted artillery strikes on the village of Solonchaky in Mykolaiv oblast. Additionally, on December 2, shelling occurred in the open territory of Kutsurub community and the water area of Ochakiv community. No casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, in Mykolaiv, a charity exhibition and sale of photographic works by Mykhailo Mytrokhin, a Mykolaiv paratrooper and member of the 79th Separate Airmobile Battalion, titled “Carpe diem” (Seize the Moment), has commenced. Mytrokhin, currently undergoing treatment for severe injuries, presents his collection for charitable purposes. The exhibition is hosted at the Central City Library named after M.L. Kropyvnytskyi, led by director Inha Khorzhevsky, renowned for their continuous support of local artists in Mykolaiv. Proceeds from the photo works’ sale will contribute to repairing the vehicles of Mykhailo’s brigade.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on December 2, Air Defense Forces eliminated ten strike drones within Odesa oblast. These drones were directed by the russian military from the Black Sea toward coastal areas in Odesa. The attack caused damage to an infrastructure object, leading to a fire that was swiftly extinguished. No injuries were reported.
A new defense tool has emerged to counter nocturnal shelling — a device that enables the targeting and destruction of enemy targets using portable missile systems like the “Igla.” This innovation, developed and put into production by inventors in Odesa, includes mounts for thermal imagers designed by volunteers at the request of the Air Defense Forces. Five hundred of these mounts, funded by philanthropists and equipped with thermal imagers, have already been distributed to Air Defense Units nationwide. Recently, a soldier from Kherson Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade successfully downed the first “Shahed” drone using the enhanced “Igla” system.
Oleksandr Prokudin, the Head of the Kherson RMA, reported that on December 2, the russian military targeted the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, resulting in damage to a medical facility.
On December 1, the russian military initiated drone attacks on Veletenske in the Kherson district and also targeted Havrylivka and Mykhailivka in the Beryslav district.
On December 1, there were 82 reported attacks by the russian military in Kherson. These attacks involved shelling residential areas using a range of heavy weaponry, including mortars, artillery, MRLS, anti-tank missile systems, tanks, aircraft, and UAVs. As a result of these attacks, an educational institution in Kherson suffered damage. One person lost their life, and another individual was injured.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Yurii Pogulyajko, Head of Volyn oblast, was on a business trip to the north of the oblast and went around the entire demarcation line on the border with belarus. “I do this in order to personally inspect the work that is being done there. Yes, fortification works are ongoing. The construction of fortifications continues today,” noted the Head of the RMA and reported that the situation on the border with belarus is calm and fully under the control of the military.
Delegates of Zakarpattia Regional Council held meetings with the leadership of the Umbria region and Andrea Romizzi, Mayor of Perugia. They discussed cooperation with Perugia in the following directions: household waste management; in the field of digitization; organization of cooperation and exchange of experience between higher educational institutions; protection of historical monuments.

In the village of Mativ, Chervonohrad region, a memorial plaque was installed on the facade of the school in honor of the fallen defender Andrii Rody. He has been defending Ukraine since 2014. He survived the Battle of Ilovaisk also known as “Ilovaisk Pocket” and russian captivity. He was killed on August 2, 2023 in a heavy battle for Ukraine in Kharkiv oblast.
Anatolii Zakharchuk, a combat medic from Ostrohchyna, was awarded the For Saved Life Medal of Honor of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This award is given to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who saved a person’s life while participating in hostilities or eliminating natural and man-made disasters and other emergency situations.
The issue of the volunteer movement in the oblast was discussed in Ternopil RMA. Representatives of the Civic Council, which takes care of volunteer activities, and volunteers of the region gathered at the meeting. From now on, an Expert Council of Volunteers will operate under the Public Council.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The Rheinmetall German arms concern plans to start production of the first Fuchs and Lynx armored vehicles in Ukraine next year. According to Armin Papperger, Rheinmetall CEO, company expects to sign an agreement with Ukraine on the production of Fuchs armored personnel carriers and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles by the beginning of next year. “Once the contract is signed, we want to finish the first (Fuchs) within 6-7 months and the first Lynx within 12-13 months,” Papperger said.
On December 1, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control announced sanctions against three legal entities and three of their vessels that violated Group of Seven restrictions and sold russian oil at inflated prices. These companies are HS Atlantica Limited registered in Liberia and Sterling Shipping Incorporated and Streymoy Shipping Limited registered in Dubai.

The Czech Parliament extended temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine. Temporary protection allows refugees to access public health insurance, education and the labor market.
