It has been the 538th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian occupiers launched 42 missile strikes, 44 air strikes as well as 24 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. The russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians, including children. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged. 

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and air strikes. 

There were more than 23x combat engagements.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. 

Towards Siverschyna and Slobozhanschyna, the enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of Stepne, Sumy oblast. The invaders fired from  mortars and artillery at more than 20 settlements, including Tymonovychi, Khotiivka, Hremiach, Chernihiv oblast, Seredyna-Buda, Fotovyzh, Atynske, Katerynivka, Vodolahy, Sumy oblast, Veterynarne, Hatysche, Vovchansk, Kreidyanka, Ambarne (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas southeast of Vilshany and east of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv oblast. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Ivanivka, Zahryzove, Vilshank, Kharkiv oblast and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk oblast. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at Kupiansk, Pishchane, Cherneschyna, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Lyman, the invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast and Siversk, Spirne, Vesele, Donetsk oblast. The enemy fired from artillery at Kolodiazi and Siversk, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, russian occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of Vasyukivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Pivnichne, Donetsk oblast. More than 10 settlements, including Pryvillya, Markove, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Klischiivka, Bila Hora, Donetsk oblast, were shelled with artillery. 

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area south of Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinities of Avdiivka and Nevelske. More than 10 settlements, including Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, Pervomaiske, Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Mariinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the russian offensive in the vicinity of the cities of Mariinka and Krasnohorivka, Donetsk oblast. The enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka, Donetsk oblast. The invaders fired artillery at more than 10 settlements, including Oleksandropil, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy made attempts to regain the lost position in the area of Urozhaine, Donetsk oblast, to no success. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinity of Velyka Novosilka, Makarivka, Staromaiorske and Urozhaine, Donetsk oblast. The invaders fired artillery at over 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Staromaiorske, Rivnopil, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy launched air strikes in the vicinity of Omelnyk, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Over 20 settlements, including Novodarivka, Poltavka, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Novoandriivka, Stepove, Zaporizhzhia oblast, suffered from enemy artillery shelling.

Towards Kherson, the adversary launched air strikes in the vicinity of Mykolaivka and Sadove, Kherson oblast. The city of Kherson, Ponyativka, Kherson oblast and the city of Ochakiv, Mykolaiv oblast came under enemy artillery fire.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct the offensive operation on Melitopol and Berdiansk axes, consolidating their positions, and conducting counter-battery fire.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 7 air strikes on the concentrations of troops, weapons, and military equipment. 

The Ukrainian rocket and artillery troops hit 2 artillery assets at their firing positions, 1 anti-aircraft missile system and 1x critical facility of the enemy.


The UN reporter that In two weeks of August 2023, russia killed 48 civilians of Ukraine. Among the dead are 23 men, 21 women and two children, as well as 2 adults, the gender of which has not yet been established.

Ukrainian defenders destroyed 16 out of 28 cruise missiles that russia used for a missile attack on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 16 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles were destroyed.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Serhii Cherevatyi, Spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that an enemy tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, two cannons, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, four drones, two ammunition depots and three blindages were destroyed. Yesterday 27 invaders were eliminated and 94 more injured.

The enemy used artillery 612 times towards Lyman and Kupiansk and conducted 17 air raids, involving combat helicopters and assault aircraft.

Ukrainian troops have redeployed reserves towards Lyman-Kupiansk. The command is personally monitoring the situation and communicating with the brigades involved in defence.

Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, said that the ministry has recorded a decrease in russian attacks and shelling in the east yesterday and throughout the past week. According to her, russian troops are regrouping. Maliar added that the Defence Forces continue to fight for Urozhaine village.

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops conducted air strikes near Ivanivka and Zahryzove. Also russia shelled at least nine settlements in the region with mortars and artillery

Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, reported that towards Kupiansk, russia is increasing the density of mine explosive barriers along the border in belgorod region. Occupation forces continue to try to advance but are forced to regroup and restore resources due to the Ukrainian response.

Ten people, including a teenager, were injured as a result of russian shelling yesterday. Izium, Podoly, Kozacha Lopan and Buhaivka were attacked.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said that a 44-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were injured and hospitalised in Podoly village, Kupiansk region.

A 34-year-old man was killed in the shelling of Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region. Men aged 34, 44 and 68 and a 72-year-old woman were injured.

In Buhaivka village, Chuhuiv region, 3 administrative buildings and 2 private buildings were damaged by shelling. Women aged 75 and 62 and a 14-year-old boy were injured.

In Cherneshchyna village, Izium region, two private buildings and the power grid were damaged.

As a result of mortar shelling in Vesele village, Kharkiv region, a private building and outbuildings were destroyed and a fire broke out.

Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 5 hectares of territory and defused 72 explosive ordnance over the day.

The environmental inspection calculated the environmental damage caused by russian shelling of cemeteries in Kharkiv that are controlled by the Ritual utility company. Kharkiv State Ecological Inspectorate reported partial damage to 12 cemeteries.

Ivan Sokol, Head of the Regional Civil Protection Department, stated on Suspilne that more than 250 people have been evacuated from part of Kupiansk region since the mandatory evacuation was announced. According to him, about 400 minors remain in the area.

Kharkiv Pride 2023 will start on 23 August under Unite for Victory slogan. The event will last until 2 September.

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister, said that the government has allocated UAH 911.5 MLN for Kharkiv oblast to build military engineering and defence facilities.

Donetsk oblast

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, yesterday russians killed one civilian in Prechystivka and injured four more people in the region.

In the middle of the night, russians attacked the north of the region, it was a targeted attack on the most densely populated cities in the liberated part of the region. According to preliminary information, S-300 missiles were used. In Kramatorsk, russians targeted an enterprise, 2 people were killed and 1 injured. Rescue operations at the scene are ongoing. An industrial facility was damaged in Sloviansk.

Towards Volnovakha, one person was killed in Prechystivka. Bohoiavlenka, Novoukrainka and Vuhledar were shelled.

Towards Donetsk, the enemy shelled Avdiivka twice with Grad multiple rocket launchers in the morning. Soloviove in Ocheretyne community and Krasnohorivka in Marinka community were under attack.

Towards Horlivka, 1 person was injured in Toretsk community, 5 buildings and an infrastructure facility damaged. In Soledar community, Vasiukivka and Rozdolivka were shelled. Predtechyne in Kostiantynivka community was targeted.

Towards Lysychansk, 1 person was injured in Yampil of Lyman community and a building was destroyed in Torske. In Zvanivka community, 6 buildings were damaged in Zvanivka and 1 in Pereizne.

Vadym Liakh, Head of Sloviansk City Military Administration, reported about shelling in the morning, according to preliminary data, with S-300 missiles. The shells hit a factory, without causing any casualties.

Donetsk Regional Department of the National Police said that police evacuated two families with children from the frontline Zalizne and Northern Bakhmut regions. After the girl was evacuated from Zalizne, police officers from the White Angels unit gave her a birthday cake, which the 6-year-old could not celebrate because of the shelling.

The invaders are trying to lure Crimean residents to serve in russian Guard and join the illegal armed group “Donetsk People’s Republic”. According to Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, volunteers are told that they will not be involved in combat but allegedly only to control the newly occupied territories of Donbas.

Oleksii Danylov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, excluded the possibility of autonomy for the demilitarised Donbas after the liberation.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the invaders conduct up to 20 air raids a day. All liberated settlements, from Stelmakhivka to Bilohorivka, were under the threat of air strikes. Yesterday the enemy shelled Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka with artillery.

Employees of military commissariats in the occupied territories are preparing for the autumn recruitment by checking the list of available recruits at enterprises and other institutions. Specifically, in Starobilsk, the occupation authorities have already ordered all men at enterprises to undergo a medical examination and register for military service.

Meanwhile, in Svatove, the invaders demand that representatives of administrations and village councils, who have not justified their trust, quit their positions voluntarily. The invaders plan to create so-called “municipalities” that will be run by the “most reliable” local collaborators following pseudo-elections.

Roman Vlasenko, Head of Sievierodonetsk Regional Military Administration, said that the invaders are trying to legalise russian authorities in the occupied territories. They are preparing for the so-called “first elections” throughout the region by replacing the heads of cities and regions whom they elected. In the newly occupied settlements, the invaders artificially increase the percentage of russians by resettling people from different regions of russian federation.

The invaders are planning to use Crimea to hold illegal parliamentary elections in the occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts and the illegally created “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Luhansk People’s Republic”.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, citizens of the region have already submitted 39,747 information reports on damaged/destroyed real estate. Of these, 35,614 were from residents of Sievierodonetsk region. This is 89.6% of the total number of reports received.

Shaheen Anver Ogly Omarov, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania in Ukraine, met with Artem Lysohor. As a result of the meeting, they set the foundation for signing a Memorandum of International Cooperation with Albania.

Japan provided 230 wheelchairs to the communities of Luhansk oblast. Some of them were handed over to Lysychansk community. The event was attended by Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Ukraine.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

At night, air alert lasted for over 2 hours in Kyiv oblast due to the threat of missile attack launched by the enemy. According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, there were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure in the oblast.

The crew of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine created a documentary film “On the Other Side of Peace” (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApgeI_LKCUw) about the crimes of russian invaders in Bucha region of Kyiv oblast. The film shows horrifying footage of the massacre of Ukrainian civilians, followed by abductions, torture, rape, and looting. According to the authors of the film, the footage will be added to the evidence base in the investigation of war crimes committed by the russian federation and sent to the International Military Tribunal.

Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the regional military administration, reported that nearly a thousand facilities damaged by Russian aggression in Irpin have been fully and partially restored.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has delivered 5 transformers worth more than $4.2 million to restore substations in 4 oblasts of Ukraine, including Kyiv. USAID noted that the equipment provided will help increase the resilience of networks in the regions most affected by the war waged by russia and deliberate shelling of civilian infrastructure.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine reported that “Spiritual Recovery through Culture” programme was presented for military in Kyiv Cave Monastery National Reserve. Within the framework of the project, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and chaplains will communicate with clergy, historians, art historians and archaeologists for seven days.

According to the regional military administration, in order to actively involve women in the development of the regional economy, develop programmes for the restoration and reconstruction of the regions, the Kyiv Regional State Administration created the Council of Women Entrepreneurs.

Zhytomyr oblast

Relatives of fallen heroes received state awards in Zhytomyr. Six families of the defenders received awards for bravery and selflessness of their loved ones who laid down their lives in defence of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Photo exhibition in honour of Ukraine’s Independence has opened in the House of Officers in Berdychiv. In the 30th Garrison Officers’ House, one can see the photos taken in the combat zone. The viewers are offered 35 photographs depicting events after 24 February 2022. 

Sumy oblast

 Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on August 14, there were 156 explosions in Sumy oblast. Khotin, Bilopillia, Shalyhine, Seredyno-Buda, Krasnopillia, Esman, and Velyka Pysarivka communities were shelled. Two households and a former grain storage facility damaged.

According to the information provided by Volodymyr Artyukh, head of Sumy Regional Military Administration Starting from August 28, the second stage of evacuation of residents living in border communities located in the dangerous 5-km zone will begin. He also mentioned that all the tasks of the first stage have been completed.

The regional Department of Education and Science reported that currently, 84% of educational institutions in the region have shelters. Sumy oblast is a leader among the border regions by this indicator. Repairs of protective structures are being carried out to increase their number and capacity.

Combat anaesthesiologist from Sumy, Maryna Belinska, with the call sign “Morzyanka”, received the Order of St. Panteleimon. As a civilian doctor, Maryna, as a member of the PFVMH intensive care team, works at the front alongside her uniformed military colleagues.

Chernihiv oblast

The ‘North’ operational command reported that over the past 24 hours, the enemy shelled Semenivka and Novhorod-Siversk communities in Chernihiv Oblast. Timonovychi, Karpovychi and Hremiak villages were shelled. In total, there were 70 bombs allegedly fired from mortars. There are 12 shells, allrgrdly from barrel artillery, fired at Khotiyivka village.

Serhiy Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that Two Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups tried to infiltrate the territory of Chernihiv oblast. The enemy was engaged by artillery fire from our forces. After sustaining some losses, the enemy retreated. The incident occurred within the Novhorod-Siversk territorial community.

According to the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the morning of August 15, the territory of Chernihiv oblast was attacked by russian cruise missiles.

Military who evacuated people during the siege of the city were awarded in Chernihiv. Drivers who evacuated people under fire, brought ammunition to positions and delivered essential items to Chernihiv received the Golden Cross award on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Silver Cross was also awarded to Senior Lieutenant Olha Zoshchuk, who was coordinating the work of the drivers at the time.

In Chernihiv, the NGO Voice of Parents, which unites families of children with special needs, received a bus as a donation. The assistance was provided by the Charitable Foundation “Mercy and Health”. During the last year’s siege of Chernihiv, a bus belonging to the organisation and serving the needs of children was destroyed by enemy shelling.

During the celebration of the Honey Feast of the Saviour in Pryluky, volunteers sold amulet bouquets near a church to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The funds raised will be used to purchase grenade launchers for the military.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the regional council, Mykola Lukashuk, seven cruise missiles were downed over the Dnipro oblast by the Air Force at night. 

As a result of the attack, a fire broke out at one of Dnipro’s industrial enterprises. A 70-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were injured. The man was hospitalised in a city hospital, the woman will be treated on an outpatient basis. The occupying army shelled Nikopol region with artillery three times during the day. Nikopol and the Marganetsk community were shelled. The enemy hit them with 10 shells. An outbuilding was damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​This year, 5 agricultural enterprises in the Vinnytsia region have become participants in the USAID AGRO programme. With their grants, farmers receive mobile grain storage facilities free of charge. They also receive assistance in installing and loading grain sleeves.

Vinnytsia power engineers have restored a 35 kV power line in Kherson oblast. The Vinnytsia power engineers spent six weeks helping their colleagues repair the power supply facilities destroyed by shelling and flooding.

Kirovohrad oblast

Within the framework of the “Side by Side” project, construction workers from Kropyvnytskyi repaired 20 houses damaged by the russian military in the village of Mala Oleksandrivka. Restoration work is also underway at 19 other sites.

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, a new department for reintegration, social protection of veterans and internally displaced persons has started working in the Poltava Regional Military Administration. The main task of the newly created department is to develop the veterans’ movement in Poltava oblast, develop and coordinate programmes to support the military.

Cherkasy oblast

In the morning, the enemy launched rocket attacks on Cherkasy oblast. A missile hit the territory of a private enterprise in Smila. Another one hit the territory of a medical facility. Water and heat supply networks were damaged, so part of the city is currently without water.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Oleksii Kuleba, the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported that on August 15, around 4.30 am, the russian army shelled the village of Stepne in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The rocket hit the stadium of the gymnasium, damaging the building of the educational institution, residential buildings, and a kindergarten. 

According to Zaporizhzhia RMA, One woman sustained light injuries as a result of today’s shelling of Stepne village. 

During the day, the russian army fired 107 times at the towns and villages of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the temporarily occupied settlement of Mykhailivka in Zaporizhzhia oblast, a firefight broke out between Kadyrov’s men and Dagestanis. As a result, 20 people were killed and 40 injured. 

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that the enemy attacked the coast of Ochakiv with multiple rocket launchers at 10:40 am yesterday. A little later, from 10:52 to 11:02 am, the water area of Ochakiv community was under enemy mortar attack. There were no casualties.

Systematica international company, with more than 30 years of experience in transport and mobility planning, has joined the team of experts working on Mykolaiv master plan as part of the #UN4Mykolaiv project. The project was launched under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission of Europe in 2022. Mykolaiv, along with Kharkiv, have become pilot cities for which long-term recovery plans are being developed after the war. The project for Mykolaiv is being developed by the team of One Works international architectural company. The technical working group includes representatives of successful foreign transport and landscape planning companies and researchers from well-known Italian universities.

In Mykolaiv, 300 exhibits from the rescued collection of the Museum of Marinist Painting from Ochakiv, which is currently under almost daily russian shelling, are being digitised. Among the paintings are canvases by Ukrainian artists Rufim Sudkovskyi, Ivan Aivazovskyi and Tetiana Yablonska. Currently, the museum collection is stored in a safe place but soon it will be available to see and explore online.

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said that approximately 288K hectares of land in Mykolaiv oblast are mined and are to be examined. As of today, more than 60K hectares have already been cleared. And the plans for this year are to cover another 85K hectares.

Odesa oblast

According to Yuh.Today news agency, yesterday military units in Izmail region received 11 anti-aircraft searchlights. Izmail received four searchlights, Vylkove and Kiliia received two searchlights each. By the end of the week, three searchlights are to be delivered to the military in Reni. This assistance to Izmail region in form of anti-drone searchlights worth over UAH 500K was provided by US and European Christian Protestant organisations to prevent repeated drone attacks on the south of Odesa oblast. Even black drones can see these anti-aircraft searchlights at night. Grey drones also landed in the south of Odesa oblast and this is an old series. Black matte drones are now hitting Kyiv, Sumy and other cities, which ordinary xenon searchlights cannot see at all. Therefore, anti-aircraft drones with a range of 2 km are needed.

Ukrainian Dunai Shipping Company JSC reported that they continue to operate despite enemy shelling. UDSC has found a place to temporarily accommodate its staff and is preparing to resume operations. According to UDSC, reconstruction is a complex and long process. Some other buildings and premises need to be reconstructed to ensure the normal operation of the office during this time. Due to the termination of the grain corridor, demand for Dunai river transport has increased. In addition, the shipping company has signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation, which is a World Bank agency. The project will promote international investment. Therefore, the company plans to restore everything on its own without attracting public funds.

Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine informed that the night attack on Odesa on 14 August damaged about 10 blocks of historic buildings in Central Historic Area. About 30 cultural heritage sites were also damaged.

Work is in the final stages on the construction of a Memorial to the victims near Odesa Regional Administration on the side of Kanatna Street. Nameplates with the names of all the fallen Odesa residents: soldiers, volunteers, doctors, journalists… The process of naming Odesa streets in honour of its residents who were killed during the russian-Ukrainian war, Heroes of Ukraine and soldiers with three degrees of Order for Courage, has begun.

Kherson oblast

It is reported that russian troops shelled Kherson with artillery. A 29-year-old woman was injured.

Novodmytrivka, Kherson oblast, came under shelling by the russian army. 71-year-old man was wounded, at least ten houses were damaged.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the russian army shelled more than 20 settlements in the Kherson oblast with artillery, and attacked Olhivka with aircraft.

Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson RMA, reported that on August 14, hits were recorded in Kherson, Sadove and Antonivka. Nine people were injured, a school in Kherson district was damaged. 

According to Kherson RMA, in Posad-Pokrovsk, the first houses have been built as part of a pilot project to rebuild the village after the russian invasion. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

The benefactors of the Ukrainian Firefighters Foundation delivered two armoured operational rescue vehicles to the sappers of the Kherson Oblast State Emergency Service. They will be transferred to special purpose rescue units engaged in demining.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

During the air raid, one of the industrial enterprises in Lutsk was hit. As a result of the impact, 3 employees of the enterprise were killed, 4 more were injured. Liquidation of the consequences continues, people are provided with all the necessary assistance.

Ihor Polishchuk, Head of Lutsk, announced that from the city budget, each family of people who were killed during the morning attack will be paid financial assistance of UAH 200K, and the city will also cover all the costs of burying the killed. Victims of the morning attack will be fully paid for their treatment and further rehabilitation.

Zakarpattia oblast

In the Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center in Uzhgorod, IDPs received humanitarian aid (clothing, bed linen and dishes (a total of 3,7K items were issued), 60 packages with necessary things for children under 2 years old; 100 food kits; 50 hygiene kits) thanks to the PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

During the air alert, a series of explosions was heard in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. Air defense forces worked in the oblast. Debris of the rocket fell into a private yard, farm buildings and a residential building were damaged. There are no casualties.

A meeting of the IDP of Ukraine inter-factional deputy association took place in Kosovo. Needs of IDPs were discussed. Since the war began, Prykarpattia has taken in 150K IDPs who, fleeing the war, were forced to leave their homes.

Lviv oblast

The russians attacked Lviv oblast with cruise missiles in the period from 05:20 to 05:30. Air defense forces shot down one missile, another 6 were hit. There were no casualties. 19 people were injured. The youngest victim is 10 years old, the oldest is 72. Most of the victims have scratches and cuts due to broken windows and bruises. 5 people were hospitalized.

During the rocket attack in Lviv, 20 buildings in Railway district were destroyed. There were fires, damaged windows and roofs. Windows were broken in Lviv  College Monada, and there was also a fire in three buildings of an industrial enterprise. One of the rockets hit the territory of the kindergarten, and the building of the kindergarten was damaged. UAH 20 mln was allocated from the city budget for liquidation of the consequences.

During the rocket attack in Stavchan, 15 residential buildings in the private sector were damaged, 6 of them critically. Cars were also damaged. In the village of Suhovolia, 4 residential buildings in the private sector were damaged by debris from rockets. There are no victims.

As of now, the survey of damaged buildings and elimination of the consequences of the impact is ongoing. Residents whose homes were destroyed and damaged can apply for repair compensation on the Diia platform. The maximum amount of compensation is UAH 200K.

In Lviv, two turtles were rescued from a kindergarten destroyed by rockets. Both are favorites of children and educators. One is 5 years old, the other is only 2 months old.

Rivne oblast

Volunteers from Rivne oblast continue to rebuild housing in Kherson oblast. 22 volunteers from Sarnen region set out to rebuild Kochubey community thanks to the Side by Side project initiated by the President of Ukraine.

The RMA reported that in 10 communities of Rivne oblast every morning at 9:00 a.m., a national minute of silence will be announced through the newest notification system.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil oblast, the local social protection departments of the population to ensure the payment of housing assistance to IDPs submitted registers for the payment of the specified assistance in the amount of UAH 2.5 billion. In addition, the Coordinating Center for the Support of the Civilian Population and the IDP Council under the Ternopil oblast was established in the oblast.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reported that in the morning, during the air raid, a series of explosions was heard in Khmelnytskyi oblast. Air defense forces worked in the oblast. There are currently no data on damage to objects, falling debris. There are no casualties.

The RMA signed a Memorandum on cooperation and interaction in the field of humanitarian aid with the First Recovery Fund of Ukraine Charitable Organization. The Memorandum provides for cooperation through joint efforts to implement joint measures in the field of humanitarian aid to Ukrainians affected by the war.

During the week, 45 IDPs arrived in Khmelnytskyi oblast by evacuation trains, 20 of them were placed in the oblast.

The RMA reported that during the week, 378 measurements of radiation background indicators were carried out in the oblast, no deviations were found.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that during the full-scale invasion, Bukovyna allocated almost UAH 400 mln for ground defense measures and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Bohdan Smal, military serviceman, received the Grateful Bukovyna honorary award of Chernivtsi RMA. The Hero was awarded for selfless service to the Ukrainian people, diligence and conscientious performance of official duties.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has confirmed killed of 9 444 and injury of 16 940 civilians in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale invasion of russia. These are the data of the organization from February 24, 2022 to August 13, 2023. According to the UN, among the killed – 545 children, among the wounded – 1 156. The UN emphasizes that the real number of victims is much higher, because receiving information from some places where intense hostilities are ongoing takes place with a delay, and many reports still need confirmation.

The US announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $200 mln, includes additional ammunition for the Patriot air defense system; additional ammunition for HIMARS; demining systems and equipment; 105 and 155 mm caliber artillery shells; 120 mm tank shells; PTKR TOW; Javelin ATGM missiles and similar systems; 37 tactical tractors; 58 water carriers; over 12 mln cartridges and grenades; explosive ammunition for clearing obstacles; spare parts, maintenance and other field equipment.

Lindner, Minister of Finance of Germany, announced that the government has planned annual military support for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 5 billion until 2027. This decision must be approved by the Bundestag. The Minister of Finance of Germany during his visit to Kyiv supported the supply of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.

Israel will continue free medical insurance for Ukrainian refugees. Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and Eli Cohen, his Israeli counterpart, discussed free medical insurance for Ukrainians, which Israel canceled.
