War in Ukraine today: latest news, August 11, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 534th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On August 11, the russian army launched 5 missile strikes, using 4 Kh-47 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles (1 missile was shot) and 1 S-300 missile. Moreover, there were 24 airstrikes, 37 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians, including children. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed. 

There is still a high threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine.

There were 25 combat engagements.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. 

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary fired mortars and artillery at more than 20x settlements, including Klyusy, (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda, Vodolahy, Loknya (Sumy oblast), and Odnorobivka, Udy (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensives in the vicinity of Synkivka and Ivanivka (Kharkiv oblast). The enemy launched air strikes near Kyslivka and Pershotravneve (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Kupiansk, Kurylivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Tabaivka, Krokhmalne (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, there were airstrikes in the vicinities of Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), and Vesele, Zaliznyanske, Klishchiivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 25 settlements were shelled with artillery including Nevske, Dibrova, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Zarichne, Yampil, Serebrianka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army conducted unsuccessful offensives in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Bila Hora (Donetsk oblast). More than 20 settlements, including Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Ozarianivka, Dyliivka, Druzhba (Donetsk oblast), suffered from enemy artillery shelling. 

Towards Avdiivka, under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back russian troops’ advance in the vicinity of Avdiivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery at more than settlements, including Oleksandropil’, Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and Sievierne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the russian offensive against Marinka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched airstrikes near Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). Over 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Maksymilianivka,  Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Yelyzavetivka (Donetsk oblast) were shelled.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost position in the vicinity of Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast). The invaders launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). Vodiane, Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne (Donetsk oblast) came under artillery fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy launched airstrikes at Novodanylivka and Orikhove (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 20 settlements, including Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Bilohiria, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove (Zaporizhzhia oblast) were shelled.

Towards Kherson, more than 25 settlements came under enemy artillery fire, including Beryslav, Tokarivka, Antonivka, Komyshany, Kizomys and the city of Kherson (Kherson oblast), Kutsurub, Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct the offensive operation towards Melitopol and Berdiansk, consolidating their positions, and conducting counter-battery fire.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 1 airstrike on buildups of russian troops, weapons, and military equipment. Also, Ukrainian defenders intercepted 4 tactical level reconnaissance UAVs.

Ukrainian rocket and artillery troops hit 1 Strela surface-to-air missile system of the enemy.

Energoatom informs that as a result of russia’s actions, water leaked from the first reactor circuit to the second at the fourth unit of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. There was no radiological release into the environment. 

Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, Commander of the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops, says that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are making progress in the Tauride sector. It is known that over the past day, enemy losses amounted to 257 people killed, wounded and captured, and 16 units of enemy military equipment were destroyed.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that massive shelling of settlements in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Izium and Kupiansk regions continued yesterday.

A building was destroyed as a result of a guided bomb attack on Podoly village, Kupiansk region. A 60-year-old woman was killed. A 60-year-old man was hospitalised in moderate condition.

A private building was damaged in Vovchanski Khytory village, Chuhuiv region. A 73-year-old man was injured. He received medical aid on the spot. The shelling caused a forest fire in Kucherivka village, Kupiansk region. Two apartment buildings and a garage were damaged in Kupiansk. In Stepove village, Izium region, a guided bomb damaged a private building.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service defused 84 explosive ordnance.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv RMA, stated that mandatory evacuation of civilians from frontline settlements towards Kupiansk, that are constantly shelled by the enemy, continues. Over the first 2 days, 33 people have been evacuated to safe places.

Donetsk oblast

Donetsk Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday russians injured 9 civilians: 6 in Toretsk, 2 in Pivdenne and 1 in Kleban-Byk.

Towards Volnovakha, russians shelled Vuhledar 22 times with artillery and Grad MRLs.

Towards Donetsk, one person was killed in Yelyzavetivka, Marinka community. Kurakhove community was shelled twice and there were isolated attacks in Avdiivka and the outskirts of Ocheretyne community.

Towards Horlivka, a child was injured in Kleban-Byk of Illinivsk community. Toretsk community was under numerous shelling and air strikes. As a result, in Toretsk 6 people were injured, 35 buildings, 4 administrative buildings and 2 infrastructure facilities damaged. In Pivdenne, 2 people were injured and in Zalizne, 15 buildings damaged. In Chasiv Yar community, 2 buildings were damaged.

Donetsk RMA informed that towards Lysychansk, in Zvanivka 4 buildings were destroyed and 17 more damaged. In Siversk, 2 buildings were damaged. In Zarichne of Lyman community, 3 buildings were damaged.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, residents of the liberated Makiivka and Hrekivka received pensions and international assistance.

Yesterday the invaders intended to find a weak spot near Nadiia and south of Novoselivske, Svatove region. But the Defence Forces repelled these enemy attempts. The invaders are also intensifying their air power, russians launched air strikes near Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka. Nevske and Bilohorivka were also under enemy artillery attacks.

Also Luhansk RMA reported that the colonies of the so-called luhansk people’s republic” began to forcibly train prisoners to send them to the front. The lists of those who are suitable have already been sent to russian troops. Almost all of them will be sent to fight, except for the seriously ill and certain categories of prisoners.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

In the morning, one of the four X-47 Kinzhal (Dagger) aeroballistic missiles launched by the enemy against Ukraine was destroyed in the airspace of Kyiv oblast. Missile fragments fell in Dniprovskyi and Obolonskyi districts of Kyiv: on the territory of a children’s hospital, a residential area and a cooperative for dacha construction. There were no casualties.

A representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, visited Kyiv to testify to the “unwavering support” of the people of Ukraine and expressed readiness to implement the humanitarian phase of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. Metropolitan Emmanuel met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, celebrated a litany at the Wall of Remembrance of St Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery for the souls of the war-affected defenders of Ukraine and civilians, and visited the Kyiv Cave Monastery.

Serhii Popko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that a pilot five-day civilian training course under the National Resistance programme is over in Kyiv. Several dozen cadets received correspondent certificates. The students practiced mastered mine awareness, marksmanship skills, combat first aid and LFTT training under combat-simulated conditions using different bangs and laser tag.

In Makariv, 1,721 facilities were fully and partially restored, including 1,317 residential buildings. According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, more than 3,600 facilities were damaged in the community during active hostilities, 2,800 of which were residential buildings.

According to Kyiv City Military Administration, over 60% of the energy infrastructure in Kyiv is ready for winter period. Emergency restoration and repair works to restore the Kyiv CHPPs continue. USAID provided power equipment, heating pipelines and generators to Kyiv, while UNICEF – generators for artesian wells.

For almost six months, the Safe Sky fundraising platform aimed at helping the air defense forces has been operating supported by Kyiv Digital. UAH 1.3 million was raised to purchase telecommunication kits, laptops, network equipment and a hardware and software system for fighter aircraft.

Zhytomyr oblast

In case of emergencies at the power supply facilities located in Zhytomyr oblast, a stock of spare parts and materials has been created, and schedules of emergency outages and possible restrictions on power consumption developed. According to Vitalii Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, in the event of a power outage, almost all critical infrastructure facilities are provided with backup power sources, and those that are not fully equipped with generators will receive them before the start of the heating season.

Construction teams from Zhytomyr oblast continue to restore Tryfonivka in Kherson oblast. Roofing, doors, windows and facade repairs are underway at all 74 facilities and are expected to be completed before the cold weather. All necessary construction materials are continuously delivered to continue the work.

Sumy oblast

Over the past 24 hours, the russian forces opened fire 34 times at the border areas. According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, 23 settlements in 8 communities of the oblast were under artilery fire, namely Khotin, Velyka Pysarivka, Bilopillia, Seredyno-Buda, Krasnopillia, Svesa, Nova Sloboda, and Esman. In total, there were 220 explosions. The enemy launched mortar and artillery attacks, launched 10 UXOs from a helicopter, dropped VOG explosive devices from UAVs, used AGS and grenade launchers. The local house of culture and civilian cars were damaged as a result of shelling.

At night and in the morning, russian troops opened fire 5 times at the border areas. In total, there were 43 shells recorded. 5 settlements of Khotin, Krasnopillia, Seredyno-Buda, and Mykolaivka communities were under enemy attack.

According to Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, every day 170-200 people move from russia to Ukraine through the humanitarian corridor Kolotylivka – Pokrovka on the border of Belgorod region (russia) and Sumy oblast. She noted that today it is the only humanitarian corridor on the border with the aggressor state that operates unilaterally – to enter Ukraine.

In Soldatske village and Trostianets, 5 centres for compact accommodation were created for IDPs who lost their homes during the hostilities, as well as people from border or other dangerous areas. The centres have been renovated on a turnkey basis, with furniture and bed linen, household appliances, kitchen and crockery, and all the necessary communications. 

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that the russian forces opened fire 9 times on the border of Chernihiv oblast from their territory. Semenivka and Novhorod-Siversk communities were under fire. In total, there were 54 shells fired from mortars and barrel artillery, as well as one explosive device dropped from a UAV.

Newly appointed Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Martin Jaeger visited Chernihiv oblast to commemorate the victims of the Koriukiv tragedy of 1943. According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, Germany is currently a strategic partner of both the country and the community. In particular, Koriukivka is establishing business relations with the city of Waldkirch in southern Germany.

According to the Regional Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service, a 300-metre bridge over the Desna River, destroyed in March 2022, is being restored in Chernihiv oblast. The bridge will provide transport links between Koriukiv district and the central part of the oblast. The works are scheduled to be completed and traffic is expected to open by the end of this year.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reports that russians attacked Nikopol again. A 72-year-old woman was wounded by artillery fire. She was hospitalized with a mine-blast injury and numerous abrasions on her back. Also, 15 residential buildings, 6 outbuildings, a car and 5 power lines were damaged.

Soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine met with residents of Dnipro at Vokzalna metro station. Anyone could ask questions about the war, their experience at the front or their personal lives.

Vinnytsia oblast

According to​​ the Vinnytsia City Council, the two-day forum “Youth in the Post-War Recovery of Ukraine” has come to an end. Young people took part in discussion about social capital and communication in the public sector. There were also workshops on first aid and self-defense.

The Vinnytsia City Council reported that Serhii Morhunov, Vinnytsia Mayor, and Mathieu Klein, Mayor of Nancy, France, signed a Memorandum of cooperation in the field of healthcare and prosthetics. 

The Interregional Humanitarian Coordination Centre is transferring several mobile complexes from Vinnytsia to the military. The mobile bath and laundry complex is equipped with water heating, showers for 6 people, washing machines and dryers. Up to 150 servicemen can use this bath house per day.

Kirovohrad oblast

According to Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, psych hubs have already been set up in 43 communities in Kirovohrad Oblast. They specialize in working with people affected by the full-scale military invasion of the russian federation.

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of Poltava Regional Military Administration, a new team of utility workers has left Poltava oblast for Kherson oblast. This is the fifth rotation of volunteers from all regions. The previous team spent two weeks clearing streets and homes after the flooding caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP.  36 workers will help clear private households and apartments in high-rise buildings before the start of the heating season.

Cherkasy oblast

Valeria Bandurko, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that more than 50 K internally displaced persons live in Cherkasy oblast. Officially, 53,734 IDPs are registered in Cherkasy region. 30,700 live in Cherkasy, 6,698 in Smila and 3,893 in Kaniv.

Volunteers of the Odnodumyntsi Charitable Foundation have provided assistance for sappers to buy vehicles. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On August 10, russian military forces carried out 92 strikes on 23 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. As a result of the shelling, two people were killed, and 21 injured. A 66-year-old woman was killed in a rocket strike on Zaporizhzhia, and 4 children aged 3, 6, 10, and 14 were wounded. Additionally, a 70-year-old woman was killed in Preobrazhenka. Injuries were sustained by a 71-year-old man and an 85-year-old resident of Mala Tokmachka. There were 79 artillery shelling attacks in Huliaipole, Novodarivka, Novoandriivka, Zaliznychne, Levadne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Huliaipilske, Chervone, Charivne, Preobrazhenka, Verkhnia Tersa, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepnohirsk, Stepove, Piatyhatky, Lobkove, Kamianske, and Plavni. Orikhiv and Mala Tokmachka experienced 5 airstrikes each, while Novodarivka, Olhivske, Levadne, and Verkhnia Tersa faced 5 MLRS strikes. Additionally, enemy forces attacked Olhivske with UAVs. There were 51 reports of destruction to residential buildings, utility structures, and social infrastructure objects.

The hotel complex targeted by russian military in Zaporizhzhia also housed a daytime children’s camp for children aged 6 to 13, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The children’s camp operated daily until 6:00 PM.

The explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station led to significant environmental damage in Zaporizhzhia oblast, estimated at over 1 billion UAH. Powerful pumps were installed and water intake extended to provide water to the affected areas.

Due to safety concerns, instruction in Zaporizhzhia oblast will be conducted online or in a hybrid format. Inspections are ongoing to ensure compliance with the requirements of the State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Education and Science.

The annual award ceremony “Medical Oscars” took place in Kyiv, honoring the best civilian and military medics of Ukraine. Two doctors from Zaporizhzhia oblast received recognition: Ihor Bielkin, Head of the surgical department of Orikhiv Central Regional Hospital, and Iurii Mikhieiev, the leading surgeon of Zaporizhzhia Military Hospital.

Mykolaiv oblast

Colonel Vladyslav Nazarov of the ‘South’ Operational Command, reports that on August 11, russian occupiers shelled Ochakiv community in Mykolaiv oblast using MLRS. The enemy targeted one of the recreational bases, causing a fire in a storage building. Firefighters promptly extinguished the fire on an area of 70 square meters. There is no information about casualties. 

In the evening on August 10, russian occupiers shelled residential buildings in the city of Ochakiv. According to Serhii Shaikhet, Chief of Police of Mykolaiv oblast  there were no casualties.

Residents of nine communities in Mykolaiv oblast were trained how to provide first aid. Nearly 250 residents completed a course on providing first aid to the injured in combat conditions. The training was conducted as part of a project implemented by the public organization Adult Training and Education Center ‘South’ with the support of the European Union.

Odesa oblast

The government of Italy will help with reconstruction of the Transfiguration Cathedral, which was destroyed by russian shelling in Odesa on July 23rd. There are two of the most authoritative cultural institutions in the country, the Milan Triennale and the MAXXI Museum in Rome, are engaged to bring together the best economic, technical, and cultural resources.

Mayor of Odesa, Hennadii Trukhanov, met with the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine, Major General (Retired) Nadir Khan. Odesa became the first city in Ukraine to be visited by the Ambassador. They discussed the current situation in Odesa and prospects for cooperation.

New stamps have been released in Odesa. Odesa-based photographer Boris Bukhman presented a series of photos featuring border guards. According to him, many of these photos have already circulated widely among users on the internet. The most popular ones have been turned into stamps by Ukrposhta (Ukraine’s national postal service). In addition to the border guards, the stamps also feature images of Odesa during wartime.

Kherson oblast

Today, russian forces struck again in Kherson oblast. As a result of enemy shelling of a multi-story building in the city of Kherson, two people were injured. A Kherson resident who was injured in the morning shelling of the multi-story building died in the hospital. A UAV shelling of Beryslav resulted in a man being wounded. At around 4:00 am, the enemy targeted a residential building in Komyshany. Three women aged 50, 65, and 84 were injured. At 8:00 am, the russians dropped an explosive device from a drone onto the humanitarian aid distribution center in Beryslav.

On August 10, the enemy conducted 60 shelling attacks, firing 237 projectiles from mortars, artillery, Grad rocket launchers, UAVs, and aviation. The aviation strike of the enemy once again hit Kozatske in Kahovka region, which has been nearly destroyed after consistent attacks. Explosions destroyed buildings and garages, creating deep craters in their place. A humanitarian aid distribution point in Bilozerka was shelled by russian army. Shells fired by the occupiers hit people receiving food products, causing injuries to 8 local residents and damaging at least 10 residential buildings, gas pipelines, and an administrative building. Due to the artillery shelling in Mykhailivka, a building of an educational institution and a service vehicle of a postal communication enterprise were damaged. The city of Kherson was targeted with 10 shells. Objects of civilian and critical infrastructure in the center, Dniprovskyi and Korabelnyi districts came under enemy fire. Civilian and multi-apartment buildings were damaged. The shelling affected a medical facility. Nine people were injured. Police have initiated 21 criminal cases regarding crimes committed by the russian military on the territory of Kherson oblast.

Explosive experts discovered and neutralized a russian Tochka-U missile in Kherson oblast. An unexploded russian missile was found in a field near one of the settlements of Chornobaivka territorial community. Explosive experts determined that it did not detonate, and the warhead remained intact.

Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the United Coordination Press Center of Defense and Security of the South, reports that Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed two command observation points, one observation point, and one command post of the russian army located on the left bank of Kherson oblast. Additionally, two howitzers, a boat with a reconnaissance and sabotage group, and 55 russian soldiers were eliminated over the past day. According to her, russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have increased their activity in a geographically challenging area with islands and straits. There, they attempt to rotate their personnel and hinder the plans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

It is reported that russian occupiers are forcibly mobilizing residents of temporarily occupied territories into their occupying army. For example, russian units have surrounded the central part of Lazurne on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast  and are conducting strict filtering measures. Entry and exit are allowed only with permits.

Starting from August 12, the occupation authorities temporarily suspended bus services between the occupied settlements and Crimea. According to the ‘Ministry of Transport of Kherson oblast,’ the routes Henichesk — Simferopol, Novotroitsk — Simferopol, Nova Kakhovka — Simferopol, and Henichesk — Dzhankoy were suspended. Collaborator Volodymyr Saldо stated in propaganda media that it would take at least a month to repair the destroyed Chongar Bridge.

It is reported that russians are recruiting propagandists for the local union of russian journalists in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast. They created this pseudo-organization to control propaganda in the region among the so-called “media.” The organization consists of 40 ‘participants,’ most of whom were brought in from russia. All the so-called ‘local journalists’ are supposed to spread russian propaganda in the region and, most importantly, disseminate false information beyond the bounds of real local residents.

Two bridges in Beryslav region destroyed due to russian military aggression have been repaired. This information was provided by Kherson RMA.

Mobile concrete shelters have been installed in Novovorontsovka and Osokorivka. The shelters are operational and have special markings. The installation of shelters is also underway in Kherson. Six shelters have already been repaired and equipped with everything necessary to accommodate from 100 to 600 people. They contain beds, chairs, blankets, bedding, food, and drinking water.

Two more social routes have been launched in Kherson oblast as part of the project “Path to Safety and Services: Transport Provision and Support for Collective Centers,” supported by the Humanitarian Foundation for Ukraine (UHF). Free buses will run in Beryslav region along Tiahynka – Lvove – Olhivka – Velyka Oleksandrivka and Vysokе – Virivka – Burhunka, and vice versa.

With the support of USAID and the DOBRE Global Communities program, benefactors have provided a digger to Chornobaivka community. The municipal enterprise will use this equipment for cleaning and repairing water supply networks.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

According to Lutsk City Council, on August 9-10, a tactical training exercise for military personnel took place on the grounds of one of the city’s military units.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that in Zakarpattia, 820 out of 1 261 (65%) boiler houses were prepared for the heating season. In the oblast, 65,3% of boiler houses operate using natural gas, 34.7% – other types of fuel. Social institutions have collected 60,3% of the planned amount of firewood. 399 out of 613 institutions of general secondary education (65,1%), 391 out of 598 preschool education institutions (65,4%), 31 out of 48 hospitals (64,6%) are ready for work in the autumn-winter period. The degree of preparedness for the autumn-winter period of Zakarpattiaoblenergo PJSC and Zakarpathaz JSC is 67% and 64%, respectively.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In the morning, the russian federation launched a missile attack on Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. A private house in Kolomiia region, where a family with three children lived, was struck, killing an 8-year-old boy. Data on other victims are currently being clarified.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that in Veteran Development Centers, three-weeks training of veteran assistants will start next week.

Yavorivsk region received equipment for cooking food at social support institutions from UNICEF.

Horodotsk community received 4 boilers for IDPs housing from the International Organization for Migration.

Rivne oblast

Rivne community received a FORD Transit 410 L car worth EUR 41K from the city of Essen.

4 communities of Rivne oblast will receive a subsidy of UAH 71 mln from the state budget. The funds will go to communities affected by russia’s full-scale armed aggression. In particular, they lost separate sources of filling the budget.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Józef Lang, Director of the WEI Office in Kyiv (Center for Strategic Studies of the Warsaw Institute of Entrepreneurship). They discussed economic cooperation and development of relations between Ternopil oblast and the Republic of Poland.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reported that during the air alert in the oblast, explosions were heard – the anti-aircraft defense was activated.

Chernivtsi oblast

Almost UAH 400 mln has been allocated by Chernivtsi oblast to ground defense since the beginning of the war. Over UAH 201 mln was allocated to improve the material and technical infrastructure of military units. Network equipment, video surveillance devices, quadcopters, night vision devices, navigators, charging stations were purchased for over UAH 42.3 mln. Over UAH 43 mln was allocated to purchase of cars, repair equipment, provide fuel and lubricants. UAH 101,5 mln was allocated to ensure proper living conditions in military units.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Seymour Mardaliev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, stated that Azerbaijan joined the list of countries that will conduct training for Ukrainian specialists in the field of demining and provide a new assistance package, which will include a machine for mechanized demining. 

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. They discussed the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the return of illegally deported children from Ukraine.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi met with Daniel Zmeka, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. They discussed the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The New York Times writes that the White House asks Congress to allocate over $13 billion in aid to Ukraine.

The UN reacted to the missile attack on Zaporizhzhia. Denise Brown, humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine, called the situation with the shelling of the hotel in Zaporizhzhia absolutely unacceptable. She called on the russian federation “in the name of humanity to comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law and immediately stop indiscriminate attacks on Ukraine.”

Pat Ryder, Pentagon Spokesman, stated that Ukraine uses cluster munitions properly, as promised. According to him, the American military leadership is satisfied with the report on the supplied American ammunition sent by Kyiv the day before.

Elita Kakule, Head of the international projects department of the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities, came on a working visit to liberated Bucha (Kyiv oblast). Together with heads of Norwegian cities, she met with Ukrainian officials.

The National Banks of Ukraine and Poland will issue silver collector coins Friendship and Brotherhood – the Greatest Wealth. The release is scheduled for the Independence Day of Ukraine.
