Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In turn, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
On 8 February, there were 60 combat engagements on the frontline.
Border settlements, including Bila Bereza and Chuikivka in Sumy oblast, continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the russian federation.
Towards Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repelled two attacks near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out three assault attacks near Petropavlivka and Zahryzove.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked four times near Novyi, Novohorivka and Yampolivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attempts to advance in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora. The enemy conducted an airstrike near Makove.

Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers made 17 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of Yelizavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, Dachne and Shevchenko. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and repelled 12 attacks, five firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked five times near Kostiantynopil. Two firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy, with the support of aviation, made one attack in the direction of Novopil. In addition, the enemy conducted airstrikes on Huliaipol and Novodarivka.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy launched an airstrike on Olhivske.
Towards Siversk, Orikhiv and Kherson, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 russian attacks, and six more clashes are still ongoing. The enemy carried out 18 airstrikes, dropping a total of 26 guided aerial bombs and 309 artillery shelling attacks on Ukrainian troops’ positions and settlements.
The situation in other frontline areas did not change significantly.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, says that the defence forces have struck 377 military targets in russia. The maximum strike range is 1,700 kilometres.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informs that Ukraine is developing a special version of the contract that will allow people aged 18 to 24 to join the army. He also added that the contract for those who want to join is not mobilisation.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv RMA, says that towards Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repelled an enemy attack near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, ten attacks took place. Ukrainian defence forces repelled the assault near Zahryzove and Lozova.
Towards Lyman, near Stepy (formerly Pershotravneve), soldiers of the 3rd separate assault brigade stopped the 4th tank division, which was trying to make a breakthrough with a column of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles with the participation of buggies, the brigade’s press service said. The Ukrainian defenders destroyed 10 units of the occupiers’ armoured vehicles, killed 10 russian servicemen and wounded 30 more.
On 8 February, at 4:50am, the enemy carried out an aerial attack on the air defence bases of the Zolochiv territorial community. The russian military struck 6 times on the outskirts of the villages of Odnorobivka, Berezivka, Karasivka, Klynova Novoselivka.
Shelling
At 17:10, in Kupiansk region, a russian UAV hit an open area outside the village of Ploske in Velykoburlutsk community.
At 14:00, an enemy shelling took place in Kupiansk, injuring a 20-year-old woman.
At 13:00 in Kupiansk district, a russian UAV crashed into the yard of a household in the village of Stetskivka. There was no information on casualties or damage.
At 12:10am, russian military shelling damaged a cafe in Kupiansk.
At 10:20, an ambulance was damaged in Kupiansk as a result of an FPV drone hit.
At 10:10, a 48-year-old woman was injured in Kupiansk as a result of shelling.
At 10:00, an FPV drone hit a civilian infrastructure facility in Kupiansk.
At 09:35, a FPV drone hit a vehicle between the villages of Hrushivka and Nechvolodivka in Kupiansk community.
The National Police of Kharkiv oblast reported that on 7 February, the enemy used anti-aircraft guns, drones and artillery against residents of Kharkiv and the oblast. A police officer and two civilians were wounded. During the day, police conducted 34 inspections of the scene, and registered 21 criminal proceedings related to russia’s armed aggression in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
In the town of Kupiansk, a police officer and a civilian woman were injured by shelling. A building was damaged. Later, a private house was damaged by a Molniya UAV attack. One person was injured. In total, the enemy attacked 12 settlements in the region. Houses, cafes, and cars were damaged.
Valerii Marchenko, head of the local military administration, informs that two people remain in hospital in a light condition, two more are in moderate condition after a missile strike on Izyum on 4 February. Then russians used Iskander-M: six people were killed, including a pregnant girl, and 57 injured.
27 people, including 1 child, were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.
Kharkiv is introducing a system of differentiating alarms. The city council reported that it has passed all the necessary tests and is ready for use. Currently, the alert system is being tested in two regions of Ukraine, and if it is found to be viable, it will be expanded to other regions.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
The 28th separate mechanised brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign reports that towards Toretsk, the Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down a russian Su-25 attack aircraft with an Igla. The Mi-8 helicopter tried to evacuate the pilot, but Ukrainian FPV crews of R.V. and BBpS operators prevented it from doing so. The helicopter returned, but needs to be repaired.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that russian troops have increased the number of attacks on Siversk.
Towards Lyman, russian troops attacked 13 times near Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Novoliubivka and Yampolivka.
Towards Siverskyi, the russian army attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 13 times near the settlements of Bilohorivka and Verkhnekamianske.
Towards Kramatorsk, there were three firefights in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar and Predtechine.
Towards Toretsk, the occupiers carried out ten attacks in the vicinity of Toretsk.
Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped 30 attacks in the vicinity of Zelene Pole, Tarasivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiivka, Andriivka and Dachne.
Towards Novopavlivka, russian occupiers attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions nine times, trying to break through in the direction of Kostiantynopil.
Shelling
Donetsk oblast prosecutor’s office reported that three people were injured as a result of russian army strikes in Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk region on 8 February.
At 9:35 am, a munition hit a residential building, resulting in mine-blast injuries, shrapnel wounds, bruises, contusions and closed head injuries to a 49-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man. Both victims were taken to a medical facility. 4 apartment buildings were damaged.
At 11:50am, russian troops attacked a civilian car with an FPV drone on a road in the Pokrovsk district. The 42-year-old driver sustained shrapnel wounds as a result of the attack.
Serhii Horbunov, head of the city’s military administration, says that in the morning, the Russian army shelled Kostiantynivka and Ivanopillia. The occupiers carried out two air strikes on the territory of Kostiantynivka and damaged more than 20 private houses, power and gas supply lines. A little later, russian troops fired cannon artillery in the vicinity of Ivanopillia, damaging private houses and a gas pipeline.
Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of Kramatorsk city military administration, reports that the city of Kramatorsk was completely cut off from electricity due to russian shelling of infrastructure facilities in the north of Donetsk oblast. Electricity is being restored. There are Invincibility centres operating there.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of the regional military administration, reports that two people were injured in the shelling of Donetsk oblast. One person was wounded in the shelling of Ivanopillia, another one – in Lyman.
The regional police reported that russian troops shelled seven settlements in Donetsk oblast, namely the cities of Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Sloviansk, Toretsk; the villages of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Yasnohirka; and the village of Ivanopillia. Thirty-five civilian objects were damaged, including 29 residential buildings.
In Lyman, russians attacked with a Smerch multiple rocket launcher, injuring a woman and damaging three private houses and a gas pipeline.
russian soldiers dropped two FAB-250 bombs on Ivanopillia, injuring a civilian and damaging 13 private houses and a church.
The occupiers hit Sloviansk with a 500kg bomb and damaged 13 private households and a civilian car.
In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, a russian bomb struck outside the settlement. In Yasnohirka, Kramatorsk community, two overhead power lines were damaged by shelling.
An agricultural facility was destroyed in Malynivka of Hrodivka community.
In Siversk, Bakhmut region, 10 houses were damaged.
Vadym Liakh, Head of Sloviansk RMA, says that on 7 February, at around 20:20, russians shelled Mashmet neighbourhood in Sloviansk. The blast wave damaged about two dozen private houses and a car.

Other
In the evening of 7 February, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka were without electricity as a result of enemy shelling. Electricity specialists gradually restored power supply to all consumers who were disconnected the day before due to damage to the power grid. In addition to household consumers, electricity supply was also restored to Kramatorsk CHPP.
250 people, including 24 children, have been evacuated from the frontline.
Serhii Chaus, Head of Chasiv Yar City Military Administration, says that there are still 205 local residents in Chasiv Yar. The fighting is taking place almost all over the community. There is virtually no communication with the community. It is becoming increasingly difficult to deliver humanitarian aid to people.
Yevhenii Tkachev, Head of the Proliska humanitarian mission in Donetsk Oblast, reports that due to the cold weather, the number of requests for evacuation from Donetsk region has increased. Residents of Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka and other frontline towns in the oblast are leaving.
The RMA said that Dobropollia community received electrical equipment and process liquids thanks to cooperation with the Czech humanitarian organisation Man in Need.
Luhansk oblast
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, says that the enemy attacked in Bilohorivka, near Novoiehorivka and Novoliubivka. Yesterday, the enemy increased pressure towards Siverskyi. They fired at Ukrainian fortifications from cannon and rocket artillery. russians used 240 unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian defenders.
The so-called ‘People’s Council of the lpr’ has amended the regional law regulating issues related to ownerless property. According to them, up to 35% of the total area of residential premises recognised by the court as municipal property may now be transferred to the federal ownership of the russian federation. It is also proposed to include judges in the list of categories of citizens to whom ownerless residential premises are to be provided for use on a priority basis, who will recognise this real estate as ‘nationalised’.
About 60,000 public sector employees of the ‘lpr’ did not receive their salaries from the occupiers during 2014-2015. These debts remain to this day. There is already information confirming more than 1 billion in arrears from 10 years ago. But the collection of documents continues.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The RMA reported that at night the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast using a UAV. In Fastiv region, a private house and one unfinished building were damaged by falling debris. In Bucha and Fastiv regions, debris ignited the grass flooring. All fires have been extinguished.
KCMA stated that in Kyiv, as a result of the fall of fragments of russian strike UAVs, the front part of a residential building and windows were damaged. The fragments also fell on cars and affected a fence in the private sector.
On 6 February, Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, announced that Giuseppe Cavo Dragonne, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, arrived in Kyiv. The meeting focused on defence cooperation.
The Department of Municipal Security of Kyiv City State Administration reported that work is underway to introduce an Israeli airborne early warning system in Kyiv. The system is under development.
Kyiv City State Administration also informed that Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko discussed further funding for projects important to the capital with the EBRD delegation. The discussion focused on the modernisation of urban public transport and the implementation of energy resilience measures in the face of possible power outages.
A peaceful rally was held in Kyiv’s Podil district to demand the release of civilians in russian custody. The rally was organised by the Civilians in Captivity NGO. According to their data, at least 350 civilians remain in russian captivity, including 10 women and 40 people with the status of missing persons.
A handbook for internally displaced persons was published in the capital. It contains basic information that will help IDPs adapt to the community more quickly. Printed copies of the handbook will be distributed through ASCs, the VcentriHUB network and hubs for IDPs.
Zhytomyr oblast
The RMA reported that Zhytomyr oblast receives important support in modernising its energy infrastructure. On 4 February, Berdychivteploenerho received a cogeneration unit as part of a USAID international technical assistance project.
Sumy oblast
8 enemy UAVs of the Shahed type were shot down over Sumy oblast. Since the beginning of 2025, 343 enemy drones have been destroyed by the oblast’s air defense units.
During the night of 8 February, an enemy drone struck a private house located within the oblast centre. As a result of the russian attack, the home was destroyed and a fire broke out. There were no casualties reported.
During the night and morning, russian troops carried out 16 artillery attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 16 explosions: FPV-drone (1 explosion), dropping explosive devices from UAVs (4 explosions), launching of GABs (10 explosions). The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka and Krasnopillia communities.

On 7 February, russians carried out 7 a attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 168 explosions: by artillery (44 explosions), MLRS (9 explosions), mortars (55 explosions), GABs (20 explosions), FPV-drones (29 explosions), dropping explosive devices from UAVs (12 explosions).
The attacks targeted 13 border communities: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Nova Slobidka, Esman, Shalyhyne, Seredyna-Buda, Svesa, and Znob-Novhorod communities.

At the Defence Council meeting they reported that over the past week, the russian army shelled Sumy oblast 534 times. In just the last seven days, the enemy launched 54 GAB strikes on communities in the oblast, carried out 150 FPV-drone strikes, and dropped explosive devices (VOG) from UAVs on 199 occasions. In addition, the enemy is constantly attacking residents with Shahed-type UAVs. Between 3 and 7 February, security and defence forces in Sumy oblast shot down 61 enemy drones.
According to the Regional Military Administration, this week, a russian sabotage and reconnaissance group of 13 members entered Sumy oblast in the area of Seredyna-Buda community. The group was repelled by Ukrainian defenders – partly destroyed and partly forced back beyond the border.
The White Angel police special unit evacuated a 12-year-old girl, her mother, and her grandmother from the Krasnopillia community, which is under constant russian shelling. The rescue operation was carried out while under attack by russian drones.
Residents of a multi-storey building in Sumy retrieved items from their flats that survived a russian drone attack on the night of 30 January. They were granted access to their flats on 5 February. People were organised into groups and allowed to collect their belongings under the supervision of police and rescuers over the course of three days.
Chernihiv oblast
The North Operational Command reported that on 7 February, russian military forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. Eleven villages came under fire. As a result of the shelling, a private house in one of the villages caught fire.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: Bohdanove: one FPV-drone strike; Hremiach: three mortar attacks.
Semenivska community: Liskivshchyna – two artillery strikes; Mykolaivka – six UAV drops; Hremiachka – five FPV-drone strikes and four mortar strikes; Bleshnia – six mortar strikes; Kostobobriv – one FPV-drone strike; Karpovychi – 3 FPV-drone strikes and two UAV drops. A private house caught fire as a result of the shelling.
Horodnia community: Hasychivka – four FPV-drone strikes.
Snovska community: Kliusy – three FPV-drone strikes; Huta-Studenetska – 12 mortar strikes.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the Air Armed forces were working in the region at night. The defenders destroyed 7 enemy UAVs. The occupiers also shelled Marhanets community of Nikopol region with artillery.
During the day, the enemy carried out about two dozen attacks in Nikopol region. They used artillery and kamikaze drones. A 43-year-old woman was injured in the shelling in Chervonohryhorivka community. The occupiers also targeted Nikopol, Myrove, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. Two private houses, two outbuildings, a petrol station, an administrative building, a car and a trailer were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
Help from Kielce has again arrived in Vinnytsia. This time, the Polish partners provided the community with three powerful generators that will ensure the uninterrupted operation of public utilities in the event of a prolonged power outage in the community.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported that at night, defenders destroyed a russian Shahed in Kirovohrad oblast.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, said that Ukrainian defenders shot down 13 russian UAVs in Cherkasy oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that as a result of a russian attack on Huliaipole, a 15-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and their parents were injured. russian forces carried out at least 6 strikes on the city.
According to Berdiansk CMA, in russian-occupied Berdiansk, Ukrainian children are being forced to write “support letters” to russian soldiers. If they refuse, the occupiers may pressure their parents.
Based on the information provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in Huliaipole region, russian forces, supported by aviation, attacked towards Novepole and launched airstrikes on Huliaipole and Novodarivka. In Orikhiv region, they launched an airstrike on Olhivske.
As stated in the morning report of the General Staff, russian forces did not conduct assault operations in Orikhiv and Huliaipole regions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that on 7 February, russian forces launched 342 attacks on 12 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast, including 4 airstrikes on Huliaipole. There were no casualties reported.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv RMA, on 7 February, at 9:49am, russian forces shelled the waters of Ochakiv community with artillery. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Referring to the Ukrainian Navy, as of 6am on 8 February, a russian warship carrying up to 4 Kalibr cruise missiles was present in the Black Sea.
Kherson oblast
According to the RMA, around 3:30pm, russian forces shelled Blahovishchenske in Kherson oblast, injuring a 55-year-old woman. She was diagnosed with an explosive injury, concussion and hypertensive crisis.
Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson CMA, reported that in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, russian shelling damaged power lines, leaving parts of the private sector without electricity.
As reported by the RMA, in the morning, russian forces shelled Tsentralnyi district of Kherson with multiple launch rocket systems, setting a private house on fire. A mother and her child were rescued from the flames. An 11-year-old boy suffered an explosive injury, concussion and acute stress reaction. Also, a 57-year-old woman sustained a mine-explosive injury, traumatic brain injury and concussion.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, said that on 7 February, russian forces shelled 37 settlements in Kherson oblast, targeting critical and social infrastructure and residential areas. 2 high-rise buildings, 7 private houses, a gas pipeline and a car were damaged. One person was killed and five injured.
According to the Southern Defence Forces, on 7 February, Ukrainian forces destroyed 5 russian mortars, 14 armored vehicles, 2 Supercam reconnaissance drones and eliminated 31 russian soldiers. They also struck two russian observation posts and 49 bunkers.
The police reported that in Kherson oblast, police evacuated a wounded 19-year-old man from a shelled city. He suffered an explosive injury and multiple shrapnel wounds to his arms and legs after a russian drone dropped an explosive device. Police officers transported him in an armored vehicle and handed him over to medics.
The RMA reported that russian forces have damaged 137 out of 151 educational institutions in Kherson oblast. Most of these facilities have been attacked multiple times, including kindergartens, schools, vocational institutions and extracurricular centres. russian forces are targeting them by artillery, MLRS and drones. The damage caused by russian attacks is estimated at nearly UAH 2bn.

During the week, volunteers gave out clothes, shoes, bed linen and dishes (830 items) from the PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e.V., Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help eV and other benefactors.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The Safety Classroom has been opened at Lanchyn Lyceum, Nadvirna region. A modern educational space where children will learn the basics of safe behavior, gain practical skills in rescue, first aid, and responding to various emergency situations.
The oblast sent 4 ground drone control stations, 42 batteries for DJI Matrice 30T quadcopters and 9 EcoFlow charging stations of various capacities worth over UAH 1.8m to the military. These are funds raised during the 7th charity auction, which was held in support of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis and the 7th Separate Rapid Response Corps.
Lviv oblast
A large-scale auction was held in Zhovkva as part of the Birds of Victory Charity Project. This is the 1st such event this year. The charity event brought together Zhovkva, Rava-Ruska and Kulikivka communities, as well as business representatives of these communities. Thanks to the auction, they raised UAH 3,33m, of which 20% will be directed to support defenders and the remaining 80% to purchase combat drones.
Rivne oblast
The RMA reported that 31 Sustainability Centers were opened in communities of the oblast in 2024.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that 158 Heroes of the city will receive a one-time cash grant of UAH 10,000 to purchase the necessary equipment and technical means.
A memorial plaque to the defender of Ukraine Yurii Stefanyshin, who was killed defending his native land, was unveiled in Ternopil. The memorial plaque was installed on the facade of Ternopil Specialized School №3, where Yurii studied.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Serhii Tyurin, Head of the RMA, met with Lyudmila Svintsitska, Head of the Council of Families of Fallen Heroes under the RMA. They discussed issues of social protection, support for the families of fallen soldiers and honoring the memory of heroes.
Chernivtsi oblast
Roman Klichuk, Head of Chernivtsi City Council, met with Vadym Shvets, Commander of the Military Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. They discussed the current challenges facing the military and determined what assistance should be provided to support them.
The RMA held a meeting with a delegation from Germany. The discussion focused on the prospects for attracting investments to develop Ukrainian industry.
