What happened in Ukraine today:

Since the beginning of the day, the number of enemy attacks has reached 88.

The aggressor continues shelling border areas. Today, in the Sumy region, the following settlements were affected: Budky, Khodyne, Bachivsk, Ryzhivka, Rohizne, Ulanove, Vyntorivka, Krenydivka, Malushyne, Otruby; and in the Chernihiv region: Lohy and Serhiivske.

In the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out 39 shelling attacks on settlements and positions of our troops, one of which involved the use of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attempted three times to improve its tactical position in the areas of Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, and Okhrimivka. One enemy attack is ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted one assault near Nova Kruhlakivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two attempts by the occupiers to advance toward the settlements of Drobysheve and Lyman.

In the Sloviansk direction, the occupiers made two attempts to advance toward Ukrainian positions near Riznykivka and Rai-Oleksandrivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attempted one advance toward Kostiantynivka.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the occupiers carried out 16 attacks near the settlements of Sofiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Mykolaipillia, and Kostiantynivka. Three enemy attacks are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have attempted 44 times to push Ukrainian forces from their positions near the settlements of Bilytske, Nove Shakhove, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Muravka, Molodetske, Novopidhorodne, Horikhove, and Filiia. Three enemy assaults are ongoing.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy carried out seven attacks toward Rivnopillia, Oleksandrohrad, Pryvillia, Novomykolaivka, and Nove Zaporizhzhia. Three enemy assaults are ongoing.

In the Huliaipole direction, 11 attacks were recorded toward Ukrainian defensive positions near Rivnopillia, Olenokostiantynivka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, and Myrne. Airstrikes targeted the areas of Vozdvyzhivka, Huliaipilske, Yehorivka, Dolynka, Kopani, and Krynyvka.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy launched airstrikes near Mykylske, Veselianka, and Novooleynivka. No assault operations were conducted.

In the Prydniprovske direction, the occupiers attempted one attack near Bilogrudyi Island.

No significant changes have been recorded in other directions. No enemy attempts to advance have been observed.

Ukrainian forces continue to wear down the enemy along the entire line of contact and in rear areas.

Ukraine has launched its first private air defense initiative. One of the participating companies has already formed its own air defense unit. As of today, several enemy drones have been shot down in the Kharkiv region, including Shahed and Zala UAVs. At the same time, additional air defense units are being formed at 13 more enterprises that have received authorized status from the Ministry of Defense. This was reported by Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov.

Nearly 30 representatives from European countries and the European Union arrived to honor the memory of those killed by occupying forces in Bucha. European officials will also hold an offsite informal meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. During the special meeting of ministers, discussions will focus on the battlefield situation, energy security, and Ukraine’s path toward EU membership, as reported by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

   

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

During the past day, 140 combat engagements were recorded.

In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces attempted three times to break through Ukrainian defenses near Starytsia, Vovchansk, and toward Khatnie. In the Kupiansk direction, the occupiers launched 11 attacks toward Novoosynove, Kurylivka, Borivska Andriivka, Pishchane, and Kupiansk.

Over the past day, 18 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under Russian strikes. As a result of the shelling, two people were injured: in Velykyi Burluk, a 46-year-old man suffered an acute stress reaction, and in Vyshnivka of the Kindrashivka community, a 50-year-old woman was injured.

Medical assistance was also provided to a 65-year-old woman who was injured on March 29 due to the explosion of an unidentified device in Kurylivka, and to a 58-year-old man who was wounded on March 24 as a result of shelling in Kolodiazne, Dvorichna community.

For attacks on the Kharkiv region, Russian forces used 4 Geran-2 UAVs, 1 Lancet UAV, 9 Molniya UAVs, 4 FPV drones, and 29 unidentified drones.

As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed in the Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, Kharkiv, and Chuhuiv districts. In particular, damage was reported to a civilian enterprise, a printing house, an educational institution, a warehouse, vehicles, power lines, a garage, residential buildings, outbuildings, a farm, and a house in Lyman.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 171 people over the past day. Since the beginning of its operation, 25,690 people have been registered there.

According to explosive ordnance disposal units, the region has recorded the use of Russian cumulative-fragmentation munitions resembling a small bell in shape, as well as mines equipped with magnetic target sensors. Both types of munitions have self-destruct mechanisms and pose a particular danger to civilians.

Donetsk oblast

At around 11:00 today, Russian forces struck Sloviansk with four FAB-250 aerial bombs equipped with UMPK guidance modules. Impacts were recorded in several districts of the city. As a result of the attack, six people were injured — men aged 33, 51, 57, and 60, as well as women aged 47 and 66. At least 29 private houses, five civilian vehicles, and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

After midnight, Russian forces also shelled Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. In Sloviansk, three people were injured as a result of airstrikes, including a child born in 2014. In total, 22 private houses, three civilian vehicles, and a shop were damaged in the city.

Throughout March 30, police recorded 1,658 Russian strikes across the Donetsk region. Eight settlements came under fire. Thirty civilian objects were damaged, including 20 residential buildings.

In Sloviansk, the occupiers dropped two KAB-250 aerial bombs. One person was injured. Two apartment buildings, 10 private houses, a shop, three administrative buildings, two medical facilities, a boiler house, and a non-residential building were damaged.

In Druzhkivka, a civilian was injured during drone attacks. A private house and two apartment buildings were damaged. In Dobropillia, another person was injured as a result of an FPV drone strike.

The “White Angel” evacuation unit evacuated a family with a 16-year-old boy from Druzhkivka. Shortly before that, the city had been hit by eight Russian guided aerial bombs (KABs), which damaged the house where the family had been living.

Luhansk oblast

In the Luhansk region, over the past day, Russian forces carried out four attacks in the Lyman direction, including near Novoiehorivka in the Kolomyichykha community, and four more on the Sloviansk axis of the front. The occupiers also launched seven mortar attacks, used automatic grenade launchers three times, and активно deployed UAVs and FPV drones.

Russian forces continue to spread claims about an alleged mass return of residents to Severodonetsk, although local residents deny this. According to them, in many apartment buildings only a quarter or a third of flats are occupied, while heavily damaged housing is being dismantled by the occupiers instead of being restored.

In the so-called “LNR” (Luhansk People’s Republic), the problem of stray animals is worsening. The occupation authorities are not implementing systematic population control programs; instead, they are shifting responsibility onto local residents, including urging them not to feed animals and collecting funds for sterilization.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

On March 31, speakers of parliament and foreign ministers from EU countries arrived in Ukraine for the Bucha Summit. According to their joint statement following an informal meeting in Kyiv and Bucha, russia must be held fully accountable for war crimes committed in Ukraine. They supported the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, as well as an International Compensation Commission for Ukraine.

On the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Bucha from russian occupation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska honored the memory of Ukrainians killed by russian forces in February–March 2022. Nearly 30 representatives from European countries and the European Union came to pay tribute to the victims of mass killings, torture, sexual violence, forced deportations, and other violations of international humanitarian law committed by russian troops, including during the occupation of Kyiv oblast.

On March 30 in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov, during which the leaders signed a ten-year security agreement.

The regional military administration reported on March 30 that a Center for Comprehensive Child Development and Support has opened in Bucha. The modern facility, created with the support of international partners, will provide children with a full range of services—from early intervention and rehabilitation to psychological support and socialization.

Zhytomyr oblast

On March 30, enrollment began in Zhytomyr oblast for a basic national resistance training course open to all interested participants. After completing the free theoretical and practical training, all participants will receive certificates. The program covers 15 areas, including psychological, pre-medical, and engineering training, mine safety, communications, land navigation, survival tactics, weapons handling, and UAV operation.

Sumy oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that in Velyka Pysarivka community, russian forces struck a civilian vehicle by a drone. A 37-year-old man sustained critical injuries and died while being transported from the dangerous area to a medical facility.

On the morning of 31 March, the russian army attacked Sumy by UAVs. As a result of a Molniia strike, damage was recorded in Kovpakivskyi district. According to the City Council, the UAV hit a non-residential building. Around 25 windows were shattered in a nearby apartment building. No casualties were reported.

The City Military Administration informed that in Stetskivka starosta region, russian forces struck a shop and a residential house. Windows were shattered and buildings were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.

According to reported Sumy Regional Military Administration, the number of people injured as a result of the russian attack on Hlukhiv community on 30 March has risen to 14. The victims sustained injuries of varying severity. Among the injured are a six-year-old child, nine men and four women. Eight people remain in hospital.

At around 4pm on 30 March, russian forces dropped two guided aerial bombs on Hlukhiv community. Both strikes occurred close to each other in a residential area. At least 15 residential houses and vehicles were damaged.

In Mykolaivka settlement community, a 67-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man were injured as a result of a UAV strike on 30 March. According to Mykola Melnyk, Deputy Head of the community, three houses were destroyed in the attack.

A 65-year-old man sought medical assistance after being injured on 20 March in Bilopillia community as a result of an enemy drone attack.

Between the morning of 30 March and the morning of 31 March, russian forces carried out 140 attacks on 46 settlements across 20 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the past day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted for 17 hours and 20 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:

  • In Shostka community, a private residential house was destroyed, and a private residential house, a civilian infrastructure facility and a vehicle were damaged;
  • In Hlukhiv community, premises of a dormitory, an educational institution and an administrative building, apartment buildings, private residential houses, vehicles, a civilian infrastructure facility and non-residential premises were damaged;
  • In Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
  • In Shalyhyne community, a private residential house and civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed;
  • In Esman community, a private residential house and a civilian infrastructure facility were destroyed;
  • In Znob-Novhorodske community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • In Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • In Konotop community, a private residential house and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
  • In Vorozhba community, a non-residential building was damaged;
  • In Sumy community, an apartment building, a private residential house, an outbuilding, civilian infrastructure facilities and a non-residential premises were damaged;
  • In Yampil community, a private residential house was destroyed;
  • In Mykolaivka settlement community, private residential houses and outbuildings were damaged;
  • In Velyka Pysarivka community, a private residential house and a vehicle were damaged.

Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and public organisations, evacuated 10 people from border communities.

The State Emergency Service of the oblast informed that on 30 March, explosive ordnance disposal teams neutralised 12 explosive items in Sumy oblast.

The Regional Military Administration reported that in January–February 2026, nearly UAH 20m. in additional assistance was paid in Sumy oblast to emergency service specialists who carry out recovery work and ensure the functioning of communities following russian shelling. Over the two months, 991 people received support, including energy workers and employees of water supply, heating and gas services.

According to the Regional Military Administration, in Konotop, a safe and accessible shelter has been equipped at the Centre for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Children and Persons with Disabilities. The renovation was made possible through joint efforts of international partners, local authorities and civil society organisations.

Chernihiv oblast

Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Head of Koriukivka Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 31 March, russian forces struck the yard of a house in one of the villages of Koriukivka region by a UAV. As a result of the attack, a hayloft and a shed were damaged. The strike occurred in the yard of a household in Syniavka village.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that during 30 March, russian forces made three attempts to strike communications facilities in Chernihiv oblast by Heran-type drones.

According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, over the past day, 30 March, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (6 explosions) and tube artillery shelling (10 explosions), launched FPV drone strikes (24 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions). Five settlements were under enemy fire.

Chernihiv Regional Blood Centre informed that the mobile donor hub “Teplokrovni” in Chernihiv oblast received 339 blood donors during the first week of March. The hub is a 13-metre double-decker bus equipped with an interactive exhibition and a blood donation facility. The team carried out blood donation drives in Koriukivka, Mena, Pryluky, Nizhyn and Chernihiv, making six visits over the week.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

During the night, air defence forces shot down 15 enemy UAVs over the oblast.

Nikopol region. The russian forces attacked Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by FPV drones and MLRS. 4 multi-apartment buildings, 2 shops, agricultural and industrial enterprises, trucks, 3 private houses, an outbuilding, a gas pipeline and power lines were damaged. Following previous attacks, a 46-year-old man was reported injured. A kindergarten and another apartment building were damaged.

Kryvyi Rih region. In Zelenodolsk community, 2 men aged 55 and 23 were injured in a UAV attack. Fires broke out. 4 apartment buildings, infrastructure and a power line were damaged. UAV strikes targeted Karpivka and Apostolove communities, causing fires and infrastructure damage.

Synelnykove region. FPV drones struck Dubovykivka community, while UAVs hit Ukrainka community. A private house and a power line were damaged.

Nikopol region. The russian forces continued attacks in the region, targeting the regional centre, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. Fires broke out. 2 private houses, a lyceum, an enterprise, an administrative building, a garage, a religious institution, vehicles and infrastructure were damaged.

Synelnykove region. A 60-year-old man was injured in Mezhova community due to an FPV strike. In Pokrovske community, a private house caught fire after a KAB strike. Ukrainka community was attacked by UAVs, causing an outbuilding to burn.

Kryvyi Rih region. In Kryvyi Rih, UAV strikes caused fires and damaged a private house and infrastructure. FPV drones hit Zelenodolsk community, damaging a private house, a garage and 3 vehicles.

In Nikopol, as a result of an FPV drone strike, 11 people were injured. A 28-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were hospitalised in serious condition. Others injured include women aged 25, 40, 39, 68, 50 and 56, and men aged 18, 25 and 37. A vehicle burned down, 3 shops and 2 apartment buildings were damaged.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, residents paid tribute to Senior Seaman Eduard Korol and Sergeant Serhii Antonov.

Eduard Korol was killed on 22 March 2026, near Antonivka in Kherson oblast.

Serhii Antonov was killed on 10 July 2025, near Kindrativka in Sumy oblast; he had been considered missing until DNA confirmation.

In two communities, residents paid tribute to defenders Mykhailo Hapon (Svitlovodsk community) and Yurii Liuft (Oleksandrivka community).

Mykhailo was fatally wounded on 13 November 2025, near Kindrativka, Sumy oblast.

Yurii Liuft was killed on 18 March 2026, near Hrafske, Chuhuiv region, Kharkiv oblast, during a drone strike.

At Kropyvnytskyi Art Museum, an exhibition by Hanna Kisilishyna, mother of fallen Azov Regiment fighter Oleksii Kisilishyn, was opened. The exhibition titled 47.82846°N 37.71093°E presents 13 paintings dedicated to the war, including Olenivka prison attack where her son was killed.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava oblast, debris from a UAV strike damaged a multi-apartment building. One person was killed and 4 were injured, including an 11-year-old boy who is in intensive care in serious condition.  The child has been diagnosed with blast trauma, shrapnel wounds and a concussion are also possible. Also, a girl born in 2018 was injured and treated on site. Structural damage includes destroyed floor slabs on the 9th floor, shattered windows and damaged vehicles. Additional UAV debris impacts were recorded at 2 other locations, damaging buildings and private enterprise facilities. There are no casualties reported.

Vitalii Diakivnych, Head of the RMA, informed that nearly UAH 500,000 from the community budget will be allocated to support those affected by the shelling. UAH 50,000 will be allocated for the burial of one of the deceased. UAH 300,000 will be allocated to help rent housing for the people whose home suffered the most damage. UAH 50,000 each will be allocated for the medical treatment of 2 injured people (an 11-year-old boy and his mother). A total of 149 apartments (277 residents) were inspected, with 130 windows, 60 balconies, and 27 loggias damaged, along with doors, walls and ceilings.

A UAV destroyed a football arena in Poltava. Approximately UAH 1m is needed to restore the arena, which was hit by a russian drone on the night of 30 March. The UAV struck the center of the field, destroying the surface, stands, locker room, coaches’ room and storage facilities. The arena had been built 6 years ago.

In Poltava, a memorial ceremony was held for Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Krympokha, who was killed in Donetsk oblast. He died on 16 May 2024, as a result of a tank shelling.

The death of serviceman Oleksii Khandii from the Myrhorod community was confirmed through DNA testing. He was killed on 7 September 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

In Cherkasy, a sports and rehabilitation facility called the Strength and Recovery Space was opened at the VeteranPro center for veterans. At the facility, veterans will be able to train free of charge under programs tailored by a rehabilitation trainer, as well as spend time in informal social interaction.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 72-year-old man was injured as a result of a russian attack in Polohy region, and a 59-year-old woman was injured in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 30 March, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 13 russian attacks in Huliaipole region. Fighting took place near Huliaipole, Bilohiria and toward Huliaipilske, Staroukrainka and Zaliznychne. No offensive actions were recorded in Orikhiv region.

The State Emergency Service reported that on 30 March, 3 fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia oblast due to russian shelling. In one village, a residential house burned; in another, both a residential house and an outbuilding were on fire.

Referring to Zaporizhzhia RMA, in Kanivske, a 77-year-old man was injured after a drone struck a private house. In Hryhorivske, a 40-year-old resident was injured as a result of artillery shelling.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 30 March, russian forces carried out 1,121 strikes on 43 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast — the highest number since the start of the full-scale war. Men aged 40 and 77 were injured in attacks on Zaporizhzhia oblast. The increase in strikes is due to russia treating Zaporizhzhia oblast as a priority and favorable weather conditions for UAV use.

Mykolaiv oblast

Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, over the past day, air defence forces neutralised 14 Shahed-type drones and decoy UAVs over Mykolaiv oblast.

Odesa oblast

Serhii Lysak, Head of Odesa CMA, reported that at dawn, russian forces attacked Odesa by strike UAVs. A 9-storey building in Kyivskyi district was hit. The facade, balconies and windows on floors 2–4 were damaged. The fire was extinguished. A 50-year-old man was injured and will receive outpatient treatment.

The death toll from the 28 March attack has risen to 3. A 76-year-old man who had sustained severe injuries died in hospital despite intensive care efforts.

Kherson oblast

Relying on the information provided by Kherson RMA, at approximately 3:20pm, russian forces attacked a man by a drone in Kherson. A 61-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds to his back, legs and arm, as well as blast and closed head injuries.

 

At around 2:50pm, russian forces attacked Dariivka by a UAV. A 75-year-old man who was in a garage sustained facial injuries, fractures to his arms and legs, and blast and closed head injuries.

 

At about 11am, russian forces attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson by a UAV, dropping explosives on a 62-year-old man. He sustained blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to his leg.

 

In the morning, russian forces shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson, deliberately striking a high-rise building. The roof and apartments were damaged as a result of a direct hit.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland and the Lion Defence Team volunteer organization, which has been actively supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war, are on a working visit to Volyn. The primary purpose of their visit to Volyn oblast is to get acquainted with how local authorities and local self-government work under martial law.

Zakarpattia oblast

During March, internally displaced persons registered in Uzhhorod received 150 packages with food kits, 75 packages of baby and adult diapers; 570 loaves of bread from the Humanitarian Center Owl’s Nest of the Charity Foundation. Volunteers distributed clothing, shoes, bed linen, and dishes (a total of 5,900 units).

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk RMA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the All-Ukrainian Association Veteran Corps public organization, headed by Yan Klishaiev. The goal of the partnership is comprehensive support for veterans and their families: from professional and social adaptation to the development of entrepreneurship, veteran sports, and ensuring access to public services.

Lviv oblast

Rivne oblast received the 4th evacuation train from Donetsk oblast. 20 people arrived from Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Druzhkivka and other settlements. 3 found their own housing, the rest were placed in Dubno regional’s public housing complexes.

Rivne oblast

A shelter project for IDPs with limited mobility has been launched in the oblast – with accommodation, food, care and support. The state pays 262 UAH/day per person.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil Regional Blood Service Center held its final field donation drive in March. In Skorykivska community, 38 donors joined the campaign, who together donated over 17 liters of blood.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 884 family members of fallen Heroes of the community will receive a traditional benefit for public utilities.

Chernivtsi oblast

As part of the President’s initiative Side by Side: United Communities, 40 children from Kupiansk visited Chernivtsi, for whom a rich program of recreation and acquaintance with the city was prepared. The schoolchildren began their stay in Chernivtsi with a visit to the city council. Ahead are excursions, cultural events, creative activities and active leisure.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President, stated that Ukraine and Bulgaria have signed a 10-year defense cooperation agreement. He said that in addition to continued military support, there will also be joint production of weapons, including drones. The agreement also includes demining the Black Sea. In addition, Bulgaria joins PURL.
