Since the beginning of the day, the total number of combat engagements along the entire front line has increased to 74.
The occupiers continue to use aviation, including KABs, and carry out attacks in all directions in the east and south of our country, especially actively towards Pokrovsk. The Defense Forces are holding the lines and taking necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into our territory. The occupiers continued to use artillery on the territory of Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. The areas of the settlements of Riasne, Obiednane and Mykhalchyna Sloboda were under enemy shelling.
Towards Kharkiv, four combat engagements took place today. Our troops thwarted three russian attacks near Vovchansk. The repulsion of another enemy assault is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried three times to improve its tactical position in the areas of Novosynove and Pishchane. Currently, two attacks are ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the enemy is attacking in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, Verkhnokamianske, Pereizne, Vyimka and in Serebrianka Forest. Since the beginning of the day, there have been 12 engagements on this front, six of which are still ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, fighting continues in the area of Chasiv Yar, where the enemy is attempting to advance on the positions of Ukrainian defenders; one attack has already been repelled.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy, supported by assault and bomber aviation, attacked our troops’ positions six times. Currently, battles are ongoing near Pivnichne and Niu-York.
Towards Pokrovsk, the situation remains tense. Fierce battles are ongoing in the areas of Zelenyi Hai, Kalynove, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Vesele, Serhiivka, Lysychne, Tymofiivka and Yasnobrodivka. So far, the enemy has made 32 attempts to assault Ukrainian positions.
Towards Kurakhove, one combat engagement is ongoing near Krasnohorivka. Nine enemy assaults were repelled near Paraskoviivka and Kostiantynivka.
Towards Vremivka, our soldiers repelled four enemy assaults toward Velyka Novosilka.
Towards Orikhiv, one enemy attack was successfully repelled by our defenders. The invaders are actively using aviation in the areas of Omelnyk, Novoandriivka and Novodanylivka.
In other directions, the situation remains without significant changes. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding back the enemy’s advance, inflicting significant losses on the occupiers.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, Navy spokesman, reported that there may be at least 400 mines in the Black Sea, as well as explosives washed away from the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. The Dnipro River was heavily mined, and all of this was carried into the Dnipro-Bug estuary. Since April 2024, russia has been deprived of the ability to mine the Black Sea. Active work is also underway to counter the aggressor’s use of missiles and drones.
Yuriy Boiko, adviser to the Prime Minister on energy issues, reported that the next three months in Ukraine may pass without power outages or with minimal restrictions. Currently, the amount of generated energy in the system has increased, and the air temperature has decreased. As a result, electricity consumption has decreased. In the absence of “external influence,” Ukraine can maintain a relative balance for the next three months.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Towards Kharkiv, as of 4pm, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled three russian attacks near Vovchansk, and are still repelling another assault. According to the General Staff, towards Kupiansk, russia tried three times to improve the tactical situation near Novoosynove and Pishchane, with two attacks still being repelled.
Yesterday at 3:30pm, the enemy attacked Pershotravneve village of Borova community, Izium region. According to the RMA, a private house caught on fire as a result of an FPV drone hit. The outbuildings were damaged.
At 11:32am, the enemy attacked Lozova village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region. The shelling destroyed 4 private houses and 9 outbuildings, damaged 13 private houses and 17 outbuildings.
At 11:10am, the enemy attacked Khatnie village of Velykyi Burluk community, Kupiansk region. The shelling damaged 1 private house.
At 11am, the enemy attacked Lozova village, Chuhuiv region. As a result of the shelling of the KAB, 8 houses and a car were damaged.
Towards Kharkiv, there were five combat engagements near Hlyboke and Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the number of attacks increased to six over the day. Defence forces repelled the aggressor’s assault near Novoosynove, Pishchane and Stelmakhivka.
On average, air alerts in Kharkiv oblast last 20 hours a day. Every missile alert is absolutely real so stay in safe places.
The first Made in Ukraine office in the oblast was recently opened at Kharkiv Regional Employment Centre. The main goal of this office is to establish effective interaction between business, government and local authorities. The office offers support to Ukrainian producers, assistance in lending, microgrants and other important aspects for entrepreneurs. The first sensory room in Ukraine for free psychological consultations was also opened. By the end of the year, nearly 80 offices are planned to be opened across Ukraine.
Volodymyr Usov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that Karazin University has installed an uninterruptible power supply system to help preserve scientific collections from the Arctic, Antarctic, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, France, Germany, Chile and other countries.
Evacuation of more than 30 settlements of Derhachi and Lyptsi communities is ongoing.
Donetsk oblast
Anastasiia Miedviedieva, Spokeswoman of the regional prosecutor’s office, informed that on 30 July, the russian army shelled Toretsk and Mykolaivka village of Kostiantynivka community. As a result, a 38-year-old woman was killed and a 53-year-old man injured.
Yesterday russian troops fired 2785 times at the frontline and residential areas.
Seven settlements suffered from enemy attacks: Lyman, Novohrodivka, Siversk, Toretsk, Hrodivka, Rih and Predtechyne.
34 civilian objects were damaged, including 25 residential buildings, administrative buildings and transport.
In Toretsk, three civilians were killed and three others injured as a result of shelling by aircraft and artillery. An apartment building and four private houses were damaged.
One more person was killed and three private houses were damaged in Hrodivka.
The russians dropped a FAB-250 bomb with an UMPK module on the village of Rih, injuring a civilian and damaging 12 private houses. There is a casualty in Siversk.
The enemy attacked Lyman with four UMPB D-30SN bombs, damaging three apartment buildings, two administrative buildings and a tractor. The residents were not injured.

The four women walked 12km under enemy shelling. Police officers, risking their lives, found them in the fields and brought them to the IDP centre. The people were in a state of severe shock. Now they are safe. They are recovering from the horrors they have experienced and talking about the situation in the city and the atrocities of the occupiers.
For more than two months now, residents of several districts in Kostiantynivka have been living without centralised water supply. This problem has been occurring in the summer for several years in a row.
Luhansk oblast
Yesterday the invaders tried to advance near Stelmakhivka towards Kupiansk, Makiivka, Nevske and in Serebrianka forest towards Lyman. Our troops stopped the enemy there, inflicting a comprehensive fire attack.
Also russians fired 130 times at the frontline villages. They mostly used unmanned aerial vehicles as 110 units of this enemy equipment were spotted over Nevske and Makiivka. The enemy also fired artillery at these settlements. The invaders are destroying them, making them uninhabitable.
In the occupied Sievierodonetsk, in certain cases, you can face trouble for taking photos and videos in the city. Representatives of the so-called “commandant’s office” can stop you, check your documents and phone. There are cases when people were sent to the basement. At the same time, no one stops those filming the streets with a video recorder.
At the checkpoint near Smolianynove on the road to Sievierodonetsk, a long queue of cars regularly forms. There, men entering or trying to leave are thoroughly checked as the occupiers are implementing a plan to serve summonses.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv Regional Military Administration announced that a mobile rehabilitation module will be set up in Vasylkiv to help veterans and civilians recover. Specialists will provide support to veterans and their families, as well as civilians. The space will be equipped with a case manager, psychologist, physical therapist, speech therapist and specialists from partner organisations.
In Brovary region, Krasylivka Lyceum, which had more than 450 students before the war, is being renovated. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the building was heavily damaged. This year, UNITED24 funded the reconstruction of the school.
The Municipal Guard of Irpin City Council informed that the remains of a warhead of an anti-tank missile system were found on the territory of a children’s camp in Irpin. The shell was stuck in a pine tree at a height of 12 metres and did not detonate. The impact site was first examined using a drone, then the remains of the missile were reached by a lift. The shell was successfully defused.
The SSU reported that a pseudo-expert who actively supported russia’s armed aggression on his Facebook page was detained in Kyiv. He has a russian passport and is the author of several pro-Kremlin publications that were clandestinely printed for money from moscow before russia’s full-scale invasion.
The youth space in Vasylkiv was renovated as part of the YouthTuT project and the Dreaming and Acting programme. “Your Space” now has a large room for events and meetings, a reading room with a coworking space for those who want to work, a play area, and a cosy office for the centre’s team.
Zhytomyr oblast
A regional meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine was held in Zhytomyr oblast. The preparations for the autumn and winter period, alternative energy sources, creating safe conditions in educational institutions, and the development of local government reform became the main topics for discussion and decision.
In Zhytomyr oblast, 209 streets and lanes are being renamed in 37 communities. The decree “On decolonisation of toponymy” was signed on 25 July by the acting head of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, Yurii Denysovets.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that at night, russians shelled Druzhbivka community with mortars. Four explosions were recorded.
During the previous day, 29 July, the russian military fired 14 times at Sumy oblast. A total of 47 explosions were recorded on the territory of 7 border communities.
Krasnopillia community: the enemy fired from grenade launchers (9 explosions).
Bilopillia community: an FPV drone attack (3 explosions) and mortar shelling (11 explosions) were carried out from the territory of the russian federation. According to the information of the ‘North’ military command, the building of the outpatient clinic in Pavlivka village was damaged.
Khotyn community: an attack by FPV drones was recorded (3 explosions).
Shalyhyne community was attacked by FPV drones (3 explosions). An explosive device was also dropped from a UAV (1 explosion).
Mykolaivka community: an FPV drone attack was carried out from the territory of the russian federation (2 explosions).
Seredyna-Buda community: russians dropped 5 mines on the community’s territory.
Esman community: the enemy fired from artillery (10 explosions).
The Ministry of Energy announced that as of the morning of 30 July, 6,800 subscribers in Sumy oblast were left without electricity due to the hostilities. Also, as a result of shelling from the russian border, 3,100 subscribers in 20 settlements were cut off from electricity supply.
The State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine informed that two five-storey buildings in Trostianets, which were destroyed by russian shelling in 2022, are being rebuilt. These are buildings at 53 Blahovishchenska Street and 9 Neskuchanska Street. The overhaul of the buildings began in autumn 2023 at the expense of the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression caused by russian federation. The works are on schedule, and the full complex of reconstruction is planned to be completed in 2024.
The city council reported that 11 place names were renamed in Sumy. In total, 300 objects in the region have been renamed as part of de-russification.
Chernihiv oblast
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that over the past day, russian troops attacked two border communities. A total of 6 explosions were recorded.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: 5 mortar attacks in the direction of the village of Mikhalchyna. Sloboda.
Semenivka community: 1 hit from cannon artillery in the direction of Bleshnya settlement.
Serhii Maliavko, Head of Chernihivvodokanal, informed that UNDP, as part of the local infrastructure support project, is ready to finance the reconstruction of a section of the water supply system in Chernihiv from the pumping station to the ZAZ.
The UWA reported that 1734 streets and lanes have been renamed in Chernihiv oblast as part of the implementation of the law “On Condemnation and Prohibition of Propaganda of russian Imperial Policy in Ukraine and Decolonisation of Place Names”. The working group worked on 15,000 streets. The new names were given to place names in Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Koryukiv, Novhorod-Siverskyi and Pryluky regions.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
In the evening, the occupiers continued to attack Nikopol region. They launched three kamikaze drones at the regional centre. The attacks resumed in the morning. Marhanets community was shelled with artillery.
The occupiers shelled Nikopol region with artillery all day long. They launched about three dozen shells. They targeted the regional centre, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. 14 private houses were damaged, an outbuilding caught fire, 5 more were damaged, a garage and power lines were hit. There were no casualties. The enemy also attacked Kryvyi Rih with heavy artillery.
Vinnytsia oblast
Vinnytsia will host the All-Ukrainian race “Honouring Soldiers, Running for Heroes of Ukraine”. The race participants are to draw attention to the names of people who gave their lives in the fight for a free Ukraine. As part of the race, each participant has to run a chosen distance – 2, 5 or 10km – with the name of a person who gave his or her life in the fight for a free Ukraine pinned on a T-shirt. In addition, they need to share a story about the Hero they are running for on social media using the hashtags #RunningForHero_2024 and #Run2024.
Kirovohrad oblast
Valentyna Fedak-Fabryka, a servicewoman from Kropyvnytskyi, was awarded the state award For Courage, II Class. The award was presented to the defender by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. The combat medic received a state award on the occasion of the Day of the Doctor for conscientious performance of service at the risk of life in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine №148/2024.
Poltava oblast
Oleksandr Sorokovyi, Head of the Department for Civil Protection and Defence, reported that the executive committee of the Poltava City Council decided to donate UAH 19m worth of aid to the defence forces. In total, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive the following items: 4 pickup trucks, a bus, 20 thermal imaging scopes, 14 quadcopters, 10 night vision goggles, 8 thermal imaging monoculars, 4 scopes, 5 thermal imaging monoculars, 2 monoblock mounts, handheld thermal imaging and optical binoculars. The equipment will be transferred to 11 different units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Cherkasy oblast
Staff Sergeant Yevhen Blyzniuk from Cherkasy oblast received an honorary Golden Cross badge from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. Currently, Yevhen Blyzniuk serves as the chief sergeant of a grenade launcher platoon in the 72nd Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians.
In Cherkasy, people paid their last respects to two soldiers. Roman Sviatchenko and Bohdan Krit were killed while performing a combat mission. 40-year-old Roman Sviatchenko was a rifleman and medic. The soldier was killed on 19 August 2023 as a result of russian assault.
29-year-old soldier Bohdan Krit served in a machine gun platoon. He was killed on 20 July near Luhansk oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on 29 July, russian occupiers struck Zaporizhzhia oblast 440 times. 12 settlements came under attack.
The russian forces launched a missile strike on Zaporizhzhia, carried out airstrikes on Kamianske and Lobkove, and used 260 UAVs of various modifications against 8 settlements, 3 of which were also shelled by MLRS. Also, there were 168 artillery strikes. No civilians were injured, but there were 11 reports of damaged housing.
As reported by the State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia, over the past day, 2 fires broke out as a result of enemy shelling in Zaporizhzhia and a settlement in Vasylivka region.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, in Zaporizhzhia oblast, the fall of UAVs led to partial shutdowns of substations and local industry. As a result of enemy hostilities, 3,700 subscribers in 51 settlements were left without electricity.
According to the morning summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Defence Forces fighters repelled 4 russian attacks occupiers in the area of Mala Tokmachka village on Orikhiv axis. As a result, the enemy was pushed back to its previous positions.
Mykolaiv oblast
On the night of 29 July at 11:40pm and this morning, 30 July at 5:29am, the enemy carried out mortar attacks on the waters of Ochakiv community. Also, in the morning of 29 July at 9:09am and 9:41am, the enemy directed FPV drones at Kutsurub community. There were no casualties reported.
On 29 July, representatives of the UNDP and the EU visited Mykolaiv. The delegation was led by Stefan Schleuning, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, and Jaco Cilliers, UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine. They were met by Mayor Oleksandr Syenkevych and Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities and priorities of future cooperation and the prospects for the reconstruction of Mykolaiv.
In Mykolaiv on 29 July, there was a meeting with the famous actor Mykhailo Zhonin, known to Ukrainian viewers from the series Pes (Dog). The actor held a charity fair in Kastanovyi square, aimed at raising funds for the 35th Marine Brigade. At the event, people could purchase patriotic T-shirts, caps, patches and had the opportunity to talk and take photos with the actor.
Odesa oblast
A massive combined russian attack on Ukraine is possible in the near future. According to Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk, all 3 russian submarine missile carriers are currently at sea and can collectively carry up to 12 munitions. Also, aircraft are being equipped with cruise missiles. All of this indicates preparations for a massive strike.
Kherson oblast
On 29 July russian attacks caused significant damage in 15 settlements in Kherson oblast, including Antonivka, Komyshany, Chornobaivka, Prydniprovske, Kizomys, Bilozirka, Veletenske, Romashkove, Beryslav, Lvove, Tiahynka, Novotiahynka, Shliakhove, Zmiivka and Kherson.
The occupiers struck critical and port infrastructure, as well as residential areas. An apartment building was destroyed, and 24 private houses were damaged, along with gas pipelines. 8 people were injured as a result of these attacks.
Early this morning, around 6am, the occupiers shelled Chornobaivka by artillery attack. Residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged. A 32-year-old man was injured in the attack, suffering blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to the chest, abdomen, arms, and legs. He was taken to the hospital.
On 29 July, 25 fires occurred in Kherson oblast, 19 of them due to enemy shelling. According to rescuers, residential buildings, outbuildings, garage premises and a car were burning due to russian strikes in the settlements and in Kherson.
The occupiers are testing large agricultural drones for delivering ammunition on the Dnipro islands. The UAVs can carry up to 40kg of cargo for 15km and can be used as signal relays. They visually resemble Shahed kamikaze drones but do not carry explosives. It is likely that, unlike strike UAVs, these samples are designed to track our air defence systems, gather information and record damage resulting from missile and UAV attacks.

Volyn oblast
In Prylutsk, houses that were damaged by fragments of russian missiles on 22 June are being repaired. 18 residential buildings and a commercial building were damaged as a result of being hit by fragments of russian rockets. At present, the roofs have been restored in 10 houses, and double-glazed windows have been replaced in 7 houses. Lutsk City Council allocated UAH 2.5m from the budget for this
Zakarpattia oblast
A renovated department of anesthesiology and intensive care was put into operation at Svaliavsk city hospital. 10 beds have been set up in the department, each of them is supplied with centralised oxygen, has patient monitors and other extremely important medical equipment.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 60 FPV drones to the 72th Separate Mechanised Brigades named after Black Zaporozhets thanks to the budget funds.
Lviv oblast
A memorial plaque was installed in Strii region in memory of Mykhailo Taistra, operator of an Anti-Tank Platoon of a Fire Support Company of the Military Unit A1910. He was killed on 15 March 2023 from a wound near the city of Kreminna, Luhansk oblast. The defender was awarded the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously).
The Executive Committee of Lviv City Council approved the installation of 17 memorial plaques to defenders of Ukraine. Plaques will be installed on facades of educational institutions and residential buildings of Lviv community.
At the UNBROKEN centre, an International Legion fighter is recovering. 38-year-old Greek Andreas was buried under concrete rubble for 3 days as a result of the shelling. Now the foreigner is completing rehabilitation at the centre and wants to return to the front as soon as possible to continue the fight for the freedom of the Ukrainian people.
Rivne oblast
The 9th Border Detachment named after the Sich Riflemen of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported that the state border with the republic of belarus is fully under control and reliably protected. The Ukrainian army, border guards and security forces have enough forces and equipment to prevent provocations.
Ternopil oblast
In Ternopil, 36 servicemen from Ternopil oblast were awarded the Danyl Halytskyi, II and III degree For Courage orders (posthumously). Awards were presented to relatives of fallen defenders. Before the presentation, those present observed a moment of silence in memory of all Ukrainians who laid down their lives for the Motherland and together with military chaplains prayed for the souls of the soldiers.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent 210 FPV drones worth UAH 2.7m to the Defence Forces thanks to the budget funds.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi City Council reported that the city received 7 ambulances from the sister city of Dusseldorf.
On 28 July, the informational and recruiting event Choose Who to Win With was held in Chernivtsi. The purpose of the event is to encourage the local population to undergo military service, as well as to familiarise them with the work of the Special Operations Forces and a separate Ranger regiment. Participants were able to join a master class on providing first aid in combat conditions, a UAV flight simulator, and a presentation of various drone models. In addition, they were able to talk with real rangers and attend a concert by the Milky Way band.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The US Department of Defence announces the provision of a significant package of support worth about $1.5bn under USAI. This package includes opportunities to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences, firepower and anti-tank weapons, as well as funding to support equipment previously provided by the US.
The US Department of Defense announced the provision of additional security assistance to meet Ukraine’s critical security and defence needs. The total cost of the components of the package reaches $200m. The funds are allocated under the PDA program (direct supplies from the reserves of the US Army). The package includes:
- ammunition for NASAMS;
- ammunition for short- and medium-range air defence;
- RIM-7 missiles for air defence;
- EB means;
- ammunition for HIMARS;
- 155 mm and 105 mm calibre artillery shells;
- 120 mm mortar mines;
- high-precision aviation ammunition;
- additional TOW missiles;
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank complexes;
- small arms;
- explosive equipment and explosive ammunition;
- secure communication systems;
- commercial satellite surveying services;
- spare parts, maintenance and support and other support equipment.
Germany, in cooperation with Denmark, transferred 8 more Leopard 1A5 tanks with spare parts to Ukraine. The delivery will include:
- 21,000 shells for Gepard anti-aircraft gun systems;
- 10 surface drones;
- 2 BREM BPz-2;
- 10 ground radars;
- 24,800 protective helmets;
- 1 field hospital.
