russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. Instead, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
On 29 March, there were 143 combat engagements on the frontline.
The border settlements of Fotovyzh, Stepok, Studenok, Miropilske, Velyka Pysarivka, Stara Huta, Popivka, Bila Bereza, Riasne, Pokrovka in Sumy oblast; Medvedivka in Kharkiv oblast; Klinova Novosilka in Donetsk oblast are suffering from cynical shelling from the territory of the russian federation. The settlements of Mykhailivske, Naumivka, Stepok, Prokhody, Petrushivka, Uhroidy, Krasnopillia and Miropilske in Sumy oblast were hit by air strikes.
Towards Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops stopped one attack near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out three assault attacks near Pishchane and Zahryzove.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked 13 times near Nadiia, Yampolivka, Kolodiazi, Torske, towards Nove and Novomykhailivka. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the Armed Forces repelled two attacks near Ivan-Daryivka and Pereyizne, and another combat engagement is still ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped ten occupiers’ attempts to advance in the vicinity of Maiske, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Predtechyne, Bila Hora, near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky and Kurdiumivka. Three combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked 12 times near Krymske, Toretsk and in the vicinity of Diliyivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers made 58 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Panteleimonivka, Oleksandropil, Vodiane Druhe, Yelizavetivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Sribne, Andriivka, and towards Kotlyarivka. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and stopped 45 attacks, 13 combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked 12 times near Kostiantynopil, Skudne and towards Rozlyv. Six combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy carried out nine attacks near Pryvilne, Novosilka and in the vicinity of Novopil. In addition, the enemy carried out airstrikes on Huliaipole.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions twice near Kamianske and Lobkove, and one combat engagement is still ongoing.
Towards Kherson, the enemy conducted two offensives near Sadove and Kherson, but were unsuccessful.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 russian attacks, and two more combat engagements are still ongoing. The enemy has carried out four airstrikes, dropped a total of five guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian troops’ positions and settlements, and fired 155 artillery rounds, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.
The situation did not change significantly in other frontline areas.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that on the night of 29 March, russia once again launched more than 170 drones, including more than 100 Shahids. As a result, 5 regions were affected, namely: Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.
Deputy Minister of Defence for Digitalisation Kateryna Chernohorenko announces that the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has established a space policy department. It will bring together public and private companies, as well as space scientists, to interact with the Ukrainian army.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informs that towards Kharkiv, the enemy tried to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders four times in the vicinity of Vovchansk and towards Kamianka yesterday.
Towards Kupiansk, there were three attacks yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled the enemy’s assault in the vicinity of Zahryzove and towards Bohuslavka.
Towards Kupiansk, over the past two weeks, fighters of the Phoenix unmanned aerial vehicle unit of the Revenge Brigade destroyed two russian armoured personnel carriers and an armoured vehicle, four guns, an infantry fighting vehicle, a mortar, ammunition depots, drones, a Vityaz all-terrain vehicle, and a TOS-1A Soncepyok flamethrower.
Shelling
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informs that on 29 March, the russian army shelled the village of Borova in Kharkiv oblast with MLRSs. A 75-year-old man was wounded. The attack caused a fire on an area of 100 square metres, and a private house was also damaged.

In Chuhuiv region, at night at 2:12 am, the enemy attacked the village of Fedorivka in Zmiiv community. As a result of shelling from a Shahed UAV, branches and wreckage of the UAV burned over an area of 10 m², damaging the roof and glazing of the windows of an outbuilding and the windows of a residential building.
At 00:45, as a result of shelling in Borova village of Zmiivka community, structural elements of a warehouse building were on fire over an area of 100m². The warehouse building, the glazing of the windows of the guard building, tractors, an excavator, and trucks were damaged.
In Chuhuiv region, in the village of Kochetok, on 28 March at 23:51, a domestic trailer was burning on the territory of a company as a result of a hit by a Geranium-2 UAV, damaging the windows and roof of the production building, a truck and a car. The shelling at 22:27 damaged the glazing of windows and the roof of a private house, and burned shrubs over an area of 50 m².
A 69-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman were injured in the village of Mospanove in the Malynivka community. A private house was damaged as a result of the fall of a Shahed UAV, and grass over an area of 40 square metres was burned.
On the evening of 28 March at 18:46, a residential building burned down, a private house and two cars were damaged as a result of shelling in Kupiansk.
As a result of the shelling of Izium region at 12:06, the village of Borova was partially cut off from electricity. 68 subscribers were left without electricity.
In the village of Liutivka, Zolochiv community, at 11:36 am, the enemy dropped explosives from a drone on a truck working in the field. Preliminary, one man was injured.
As a result of UAV shelling at 11:36 am in the village of Vinnytski Ivany, Bohodukhiv community, the glazing of two private houses was damaged.
In the town of Kupiansk, an outbuilding was damaged as a result of an MLRS attack at 10:55 a.m. A 39-year-old man was wounded.
In Kupiansk region, 8 settlements and 7361 subscribers were cut off from electricity supply due to the shelling of Myrne village of Kindrashivska community at 10:53 a.m.
At 09:55, the enemy fired a Molniya UAV in Kupiansk. As a result of the strike, roofing material on the roof burned. The roof, 2nd and 3rd floors of the house were damaged. A woman and a man were injured, they have an acute stress reaction.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, informs that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the occupiers have carried out almost 22,000 attacks on the territory of Kharkiv oblast. As a result of russian strikes, more than 77,600 objects have been damaged or destroyed, including residential areas, critical infrastructure, medical and educational institutions, and administrative buildings.
Other
Since the end of October 2024, the Kuryliv Hub has been providing humanitarian assistance and consultations to community members who have left due to the hostilities. Currently, 2700 people living in Kharkiv and the suburbs are registered there. This was reported by Kuryliv village military administration.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
Ukrainian troops eliminated 59 russian soldiers, 26 of whom were killed, while repelling an assault in Donetsk oblast. The Defence Forces also damaged or destroyed five pieces of Russian equipment and shot down 71 russian army drones using electronic warfare systems. According to the Khortytsia MIlitary Unit Operation Centre, russians launched an assault towards Pokrovsk. They attacked the positions of the Defence Forces with infantry, vehicles and drones. This assault was repelled by the joint actions of four brigades of the Ukrainian army.
Dmytro Zaporozhets, Spokesman for the Luhansk operational and tactical group, says that in March 2025, the occupiers dropped about 900 guided aerial bombs towards Siverskyi, Kramatorsk and Toretsk. The enemy is concentrating its main efforts in the Toretsk sector, Kostyantynivka is also affected.
Luhansk military operation reports that during the period of active offensive operations, the enemy lost 13.5 thousand soldiers in the battles for the city of Toretsk and in the Toretsk sector alone.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a morning summary that over the past day, the enemy carried out more than 70 attacks by russian occupiers near Pokrovsk. Ukrainian defenders stopped 73 attacks towards Pokrovsk.
Shelling
Andriy Pankov, Head of the town’s military administration, says that in the morning of 29 March, russian troops shelled Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka. The shelling damaged private houses and infrastructure. There is no information on any casualties or injuries from the shelling.
In total, russians fired 4 times at settlements in Donetsk oblast. Two residents of the oblast were wounded in the shelling. According to the head of the regional military administration Vadym Filashkin, as of the morning of 29 March:
Two people were wounded in Pokrovsk, 2 multi-storey buildings and a private house were damaged.
In Kramatorsk region, 2 houses in Lyman and one building in Berestka of Illinivska community were damaged.
In the Bakhmut region, two people were injured in Sukha Balka of Toretsk community, and 6 houses were damaged in Siversk.
On 28 March, at 16:40, the russian army shelled Pivdennyi neighbourhood in Pokrovsk. A 96-year-old woman was wounded in the shelling, the city military administration reported. She was diagnosed with a mine-blast injury, contusion and bruises to her limbs. Two apartment buildings were also damaged.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of the regional military administration, says that 246 people, including 86 children, were evacuated from the frontline.
Luhansk oblast
In Serebrianka forest, soldiers of the border commandant’s office using Phoenix reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles of the Revenge brigade burned down an enemy MT-LB and destroyed four Russian armoured vehicles.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, informs that on 28 March, the occupiers attacked 16 times towards Lyman. They were looking for weaknesses in Ukrainian defence, in particular near Hrekivka and Nadiia. The invaders sent 249 drones to Ukrainian positions and settlements in the region. russians used artillery 12 times.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, informs that the so-called ‘lpr’ has enacted a decree on the conscription of young men born in 2007 – young men who have turned 18 or will turn 18 this year. They may soon find themselves at the front. According to him, recently it became known that the first representative of the russian army aged 18 was killed in Ukraine.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
KCMA reported that on the night of 29 March, russian troops attacked Kyiv and oblast with drones. A total of 30 drones were spotted in the airspace and on the outskirts of the capital. Air defence forces destroyed 16 UAVs.
According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, a private house was damaged in one of the garden associations in Vyshhorod district as a result of falling debris. No residents of the region were injured in the russian drone attack. There were no hits to critical infrastructure.
The City Military Administration also informed that over the past week, air alert was declared 7 times in Kyiv. On the outskirts and in the airspace of the capital, 98 attack UAVs were spotted. Of these, 48 were destroyed. On 23 March, as a result of an enemy attack, infrastructure was damaged in 5 districts of Kyiv, 3 people were killed and 10 injured.
Kyiv City State Administration reported that Kyiv Military Hub has started providing free legal assistance from a lawyer, increased the number of primary level lawyers and the hours of work of mobile emergency response teams. Residents of the city can call and request an emergency response team, as well as make an appointment with a lawyer, a legal expert, or a veteran support specialist.
The State Emergency Service of Kyiv oblast informed that tactical and special training of rescuers took place at one of the oblast’s facilities. According to the tactical plan, a fire broke out in the warehouse of an industrial enterprise, and the rescuers had to not only extinguish the fire but also prevent it from spreading to neighbouring premises.
The UWG HAB in Borodianka hosted an event as part of the ‘’Paw to Palm‘’ project. Professional canine assistants met with children and their mothers from the families of defenders from Makariv community and helped children and adults experience the magic of communication with dogs.

Zhytomyr oblast
The NGO Resilience Alliance announced that on 28 March, a three-day integration event for veterans, military personnel, youth, people with amputations and representatives of sports organisations began in Zhytomyr. The event includes a motivational meeting, master classes in various sports, as well as sports training and competitions. The event aims to help veterans integrate and unite society around them.
Sumy oblast
The State Border Guard Service reported that mobile fire groups of border guards destroyed two Herberas, one Geran-2, and approximately five FPV-drones in Sumy oblast.
On the night of 29 March, Ukrainian air defenders shot down 24 enemy ‘Shaheds’ over the skies of Sumy oblast.
Sumy Regional National Police informed that as a result of a nighttime drone attack, a recreational facility in Okhtyrka region was damaged. No people were injured.

During the night and morning, russian forces carried out 36 shelling attacks of border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast. According to the Regional Military Administration, a total of 146 explosions were recorded. The shelling attacks affected Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Lebedyn, Krasnopillia, Boromlia, Chernechchyna, Velyka Pysarivka, and Esman communities. As a result of a UAV attack in Bilopillia community, three private residential houses were damaged; in Boromlia community, a utility building was affected; and in Chernechchyna community, both residential and non-residential premises, as well as a vehicle, sustained damage.

On 28 March, russian forces carried out 109 shelling attacks in Sumy oblast, with a total of 188 strikes recorded. The enemy used mortars (42 explosions), MLRS (20 explosions), artillery (39 explosions), grenade launchers (2 explosions), UAV attacks (2 explosions), FPV-drones (35 explosions), launched GABs (33 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (18 explosions). Twelve communities came under enemy fire: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, and Seredyna-Buda. As a result of shelling in Velyka Pysarivka community, a private residential house and a car were damaged.
Mykhailo Melnyk, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, said that on 27 March, a russian aerial bomb destroyed a clinic in Myropillia, which is a historical landmark. According to him, the building was previously a zemstvo hospital and, over 100 years ago, served as the mansion of Hlukhovtsev.

The Regional Military Administration reported that this week, Ukrainian servicemen neutralised two russian Orion UAVs in Sumy oblast. These unmanned aerial vehicles have a long flight duration and are primarily used for reconnaissance and strike missions.
According to Mykola Torianyk, Head of Khotin community, evacuation continues in Khotin community of Sumy oblast. Currently, around 700 people remain in the settlements. He stated that the evacuation is complicated by attacks from russian FPV-drones. Recently, two russian drones targeted a tractor that was transporting an elderly woman with limited mobility and a man with a leg amputation on a trailer. The tractor was destroyed in the attack, but the people were evacuated to a safe location.
Chernihiv oblast
The North Operational Command reported that due to russian FPV-drone strikes on 28 March in Hirsk village, Snovsk community, a house was damaged. A Lancet UAV strike was recorded in Biryne village, Novhorod-Siverskyi community.
On 28 March, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out FPV-drone strikes (16 explosions) and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (5 explosions). According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, ten villages came under enemy fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that nearly half of the attacks on Chernihiv border region are carried out by russian FPV-drones, while the use of artillery and mortars has decreased. In total, over 2.5 months of 2025, 3,900 strikes have been recorded in Chernihiv oblast. Semenivka community is the most frequently targeted by the russian army.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that in the evening and overnight, the enemy carried out a massive drone attack on Dnipropetrovsk oblast. In Dnipro, 4 people were killed and 21 injured. The city suffered significant damage, including a hotel complex, 14 private houses (both destroyed and damaged), apartment buildings, cars, motorcycles, a car service station, garages, an educational institution, an administrative building and warehouses. Also, in the morning, russian forces struck Marhanets community in Nikopol region by a drone. Another drone attack targeted Mezhova community in Synelnykove region, damaging a private house.
During the day, the enemy repeatedly attacked Nikopol region, by artillery and kamikaze drones to target the regional centre and Marhanets community. A store, an apartment building, infrastructure and 2 private houses were damaged. Mezhova community in Synelnykove region was attacked, leaving 2 civilians injured – a 58-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Both were hospitalised in moderate condition. 2 private houses and a car were damaged. According to updated information, a missile strike on Kryvyi Rih injured 9 people, damaging apartment buildings, private houses, a school, a car wash, a store and vehicles. Also, new data confirms that 25 people were injured in yesterday’s massive attack on Dnipro. One more private house was completely destroyed and around 10 others were damaged. 6 educational institutions, 2 dormitories and several businesses were affected.

Vinnytsia oblast
According to Vinnytsia City Council, Vinnytsia community paid tribute to fallen defender Andrii Nelipovych. He served in the 78th Air Assault Regiment, defending Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in the eastern region. He was killed in action on 13 March in Kursk oblast. The soldier was 41 years old.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that during the night, air defence forces shot down 3 russian drones over the oblast.
A charity fair was held in Cherkasy to honour the memory of fallen defender Yaroslav Strilets. He was a world champion in pankration and volunteered to defend Ukraine at the age of 19. He was killed in action at 21. His family is raising funds for the creation and installation of a commemorative bust in Kholodnyi Yar National Park.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian military shelled a settlement in Polohy region, damaging private houses.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks near Kamianske and Lobkove on Orikhiv region. Another battle is ongoing.
On 28 March, Defence Forces repelled 8 russian attacks on Orikhiv region. Clashes occurred near Shcherbaky, Mali Shcherbaky, Mala Tokmachka, Stepove, Kamianske and north of Nesterianka.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 28 March, the russian military carried out 484 strikes on 13 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy used artillery 151 times to attack Stepnohirsk, Piatykhatky, Lobkove, Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novodarivka and Charivne.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to the RMA, on the night of 29 March, air defence forces destroyed a Shahed drone over Mykolaiv oblast.
On 28 March, the russian military shelled Kutsurub community by artillery and twice attacked it by FPV drones. There were no casualties reported. Also, russian troops attacked Berezanka community by an FPV drone yesterday, with no injuries reported.
Odesa oblast
Referring to the Ukrainian Navy, as of the morning of 29 March, the russian military has deployed 2 warships carrying cruise missiles into the Black Sea.
Kherson oblast
Based on the information provided by the RMA, a 47-year-old Kherson resident was hospitalised after being injured in a russian drone attack yesterday. He suffered a blast injury and concussion.
According to the State Emergency Service of Kherson oblast, rescuers extinguished a fire caused by a drone attack on an apartment building in Kherson. They put out burning garbage and tires in the city.
Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson City Military Administration, reported that a 49-year-old Kherson resident injured during the shelling of the city center on 27 March sought medical help. Doctors diagnosed him with a blast injury and concussion.
As reported by the RMA, during the night, the russian military attacked Novoberyslav in Kherson oblast by drones. An 84-year-old man was wounded and hospitalised with a blast injury, traumatic brain injury, concussion and shrapnel wounds to his shoulder
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, said that another person was confirmed wounded in the massive shelling of Kherson on 27 March. Today, a 38-year-old man sought medical assistance, suffering from a blast injury and concussion.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 28 March, russian forces shelled 36 settlements in Kherson oblast. 2 apartment buildings, 38 private houses, a gas pipeline, an ambulance, agricultural equipment and civilian vehicles were damaged. 9 people were injured.

Volyn oblast
Volyn RMA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of Digital Technologies in the Region with the EGAP Program, implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with the support of Switzerland. The Memorandum will contribute to the development of infrastructure and the implementation of innovative digital tools in the oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
The Children’s Clinical Hospital of Uzhhorod City Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital has received a new spirometer, which will be used to diagnose the functional state of the lungs in young patients from the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia Oblast CF as part of the implementation of a project to protect children in emergency situations.

Rescuers of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast received 2 all-terrain vehicles, 10 ATVs with trailers, 2 drones, 10 multi-purpose GPS navigators, 15 portable dosimeters and 900 chemical protection suits worth over UAH 11m from the Kingdom of Switzerland, the Republic of Poland, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Korea, as well as in accordance with the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine within the framework of the Promoting human security in Ukraine through response to the multidimensional crisis caused by the war project.
Lviv oblast
Novorozdil community sent clothes for children and adults, strollers, baby carriers and more to Muzykiv community, Kherson oblast.
Charity concerts were held in the villages of Hrabovets-Dulibiv community, where UAH 5,200 were raised in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the village of Konukhiv, UAH 3,200 were raised.
From the 1st days of the full-scale war, the youth of the Hrabovets-Dulibivka community have been working in the kitchen of the We From Ukraine Volunteer Association. Young volunteers independently prepare chocolate energy bars for the Defenders.
Rivne oblast
The RMA held a meeting on the location, design and construction of the 330 kV Chernivtsi – Ternopil overhead line. The construction of the overhead line will contribute to strengthening the energy independence of the region, increasing the reliability of electricity supply and ensuring the stability of main networks.
Ternopil oblast
Anatolii Pauk, resident of Baikovets community, received the Cross of the Missile Troops and Artillery from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

A meeting of the Council of Families of Deceased War Veterans, Defenders of Ukraine was held in the oblast. They discussed the implementation of support for the families of Heroes, the fulfillment of previous instructions and the implementation of veteran policy in the oblast.

The RMA reported that in Bukovina, 25 centers for teaching the Defense of Ukraine subject have been created (16 in Chernivtsi, 5 in Dnistrovskyi and 4 in Vyzhnytskyi regions).

The European Union, Sweden and Germany, are allocating €44m to support Ukrainian civil society organizations. Of this, €6m will be allocated to developing gender leadership and conflict resolution strategies.
The 1st meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on an international treaty establishing a Commission for the Consideration of Applications for Ukraine was held on 24–26 March. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the Office of the President. During the meeting, the draft international treaty establishing the Commission for the Consideration of Applications was considered, and key aspects of interaction and the organizational structure of the commission were discussed.
The Estonian parliament (the Riigikogu) has adopted amendments to the Constitution that deprive citizens of the russian federation and belarus of the right to vote in local elections.
