The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and have already stopped 31 attacks. The fighting continues unabated.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked eight times near Kostiantynopil and in the direction of Rozlyv. Four combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy made two attacks near Pryvilne and in the vicinity of Vilne Pole. In addition, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Novodarivka, Novopil, Zelene Pole, Huliaipole and Zaliznychne.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders four times in the vicinity of Mali Shcherbaki and Stepove, with one combat engagement still ongoing.
Towards Kherson, the enemy conducted two offensives near Sadove, but were unsuccessful.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine russian attacks, and three more combat engagements are still ongoing. The enemy has carried out 14 air strikes since the beginning of the day, dropping a total of 21 guided aerial bombs on our troops’ positions and populated areas and firing 180 artillery rounds, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
The RMA says that towards Kharkiv, the occupiers conducted two offensives in the vicinity of Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, two battles are ongoing. In total, russians attacked five times in the direction of Radkivka, Pishchane, Bohuslavka, Krasniy Pershyi and near Zahryzove.
Towards Kharkiv, the day before, Ukrainian troops stopped four enemy attacks in the vicinity of Vovchansk and towards Kamianka.
Towards Kupyansk, there were six occupants’ attacks yesterday. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults in the direction of Pishchane, Petropavlivka and near Zahryzove.
Shelling
The enemy struck the centre of Kupiansk with a guided aerial bomb. A 53-year-old woman, a 61-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were injured as a result of the hit to a 5-storey residential building. There may be people under the rubble. A car caught fire, and five other cars were damaged.

More than 10 private houses were damaged in Kupiansk by FAB-250. The local cemetery was also destroyed.
At 00:15, the enemy attacked Chuhuiv. As a result of the hit, the structural elements of the hangar on the ground floor burned over an area of 20 m² and the structural elements of the roof over an area of 50 m².

Shelling
The Church of St John Chrysostom in Pokrovsk, Donetsk oblast, was destroyed by shelling. The church is now a cinder block, the Pokrovsk vicariate reported.

Russia threw two FAB-250 bombs at Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka, damaging 23 private houses, a civilian car and critical infrastructure.
In Lyman, 2 private houses were damaged as a result of shelling from Grad multiple rocket launchers.
Luhansk oblast
The RMA said that russian troops sent 294 unmanned aerial vehicles to frontline villages and fortifications of the Defence Forces. ‘The enemy used artillery support 22 times in this area of the frontline, focusing its attack efforts towards Lyman. Attempts to advance in the Nadiya area were made again.
The so-called ‘lpr’ has prepared more than 200 vacant positions for cultural workers, who are to be recruited from the territory of the russian federation under the ‘Zemsky cultural worker’ programme. For spreading Kremlin propaganda, each of them will receive a one-time payment of 2 million rubles from the state budget of the Russian Federation, not including monthly salary. The work will be carried out in settlements with a population of up to 50,000 people, including rural areas. The programme will be funded for 2025-2027.
Residents of Lysychansk who remained in the temporarily occupied territory hoped for a quick recovery of the city after russians’ promises in the summer of 2022. However, more than 2.5 years have passed, and only now has the occupation administration presented a ‘development plan’. It covers only certain neighbourhoods in the central part of the city, including several residential buildings, a school and a kindergarten. Other areas will have to wait indefinitely.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The RMA reported that command and staff exercises were held at one of the training centres in Kyiv oblast as part of the national resistance training programme. Classes at the centre are held in several areas: firearms training and shooting, first aid, obstacle course, physical endurance and emergency training.
The Minister of Veterans Affairs Natalia Kalmykova announced that the first burials at the National Military Memorial Cemetery are scheduled to begin in May this year. According to her, all the processes of creating the military cemetery, which is planned to be built in the village of Hatne, Fastiv region, are carried out in accordance with the current legislation. The Ministry is constantly communicating with the families of the fallen soldiers.
Kyiv City State Administration reported that the number of appeals to the Kyiv Military Hub has more than doubled. In 2023, almost 13,000 appeals were recorded, and in 2024 the number increased to more than 30,000. The hub provides free legal aid, and mobile teams consisting of a psychologist, a social worker and a driver. A specially equipped car is adapted to transport people with disabilities.
Bila Tserkva community will have a Social Taxi thanks to international cooperation. The German company GIZ GmbH donated to the community a new car for people with limited mobility.
Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk said that a new memorial to the victims of the russian occupation will be installed in Bucha. The memorial will be created by the Urban Design team led by Stanislav Demin. The space will tell about the 33 days of russian occupation. There will be an artificial pond nearby, on the banks of which plaques with the names of the victims will be installed. The memorial will be built on the territory of the Church of St Andrew the First-Called and All Saints, where 116 people killed by the russian army were buried.
Zhytomyr oblast
The RMA reported that since the beginning of 2025, almost 600 referrals for socially useful work have been issued in Zhytomyr oblast for temporarily unemployed and internally displaced persons. They will be paid UAH 6.7 million in salaries. These works are being carried out in the 31st territorial community.
On 29 March, relatives of prisoners of war and missing persons took part in the campaign ‘Unknown and Captivity Kill’ in Zhytomyr. It is a reminder to society of the defenders with whom they have lost contact and support for the families of the military who are waiting for news of their loved ones. This is the 14th event of this kind held in Zhytomyr.
Sumy oblast
Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, informs that there is a large group of russian troops on the border with Ukraine, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding them back. According to various estimates, this is up to 80,000 russian troops.
DeepState reported on 29 March that the Ukrainian Armed Forces hold positions in the southern part of the village of Veselivka in Sumy oblast. Assault groups of the russian federation are trying to knock out the Defence Forces. The russian army is suffering losses trying to enter the northern part of the village, the fighting continues.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry reported that in Sumy oblast, the enemy struck during the evacuation of border residents, wounding a man. Rescue medics provided first aid, after which the victim was transported in an armoured car and handed over to doctors.
At night and in the morning, russians fired 44 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. A total of 74 explosions were recorded. Sumy, Sadove, Khotyn, Yunakivka, Miropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, and Seredina-Buda communities were shelled.
The RMA reported that the enemy launched 15 multiple rocket launchers at the territory of Krasnopillia community. A civilian was wounded as a result of the shelling. Residential buildings were damaged in Sumy, Seredina-Buda and Velyka Pysarivka communities. In Sadove community, two private houses and a non-residential building were damaged by UAV shelling.
At night, Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners shot down 4 enemy Shahed UAVs in the sky over Sumy oblast.

Sumy regional police reported that russian shelling on 29 March left one person dead and two wounded. russian occupiers massively shelled 48 settlements in the oblast. They also damaged 6 private houses, a car and a recreation centre.
Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that at around 11:40am on 29 March, the russian army shelled Velyka Pysarivka community with artillery, killing a 63-year-old farm worker.
Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on 29 March, the russian army attacked the Krasnopilska community twice. As a result, a 58-year-old and a 54-year-old man were wounded. Both were hospitalised. Also, according to the RMA, two houses in the community were damaged.

On 29 March, the russian military fired 112 times in Sumy oblast. There were 307 attacks. The enemy fired from mortars (140 explosions), MLRS (32 explosions), artillery (44 explosions), attacked with UAVs (2 explosions), FPV drones (37 explosions), launched UAVs (39 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (11 explosions). There were 10 communities under hostile fire: Stepanivka, Khotin, Yunakivka, Miropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Shalyhine, Seredyno-Budska.
The SES reported that on 28 March, a fire truck of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Sumy oblast was damaged as a result of an enemy UAV attack. The rescuers managed to move to safe places and, after the situation stabilised, returned to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv border guard detachment said that on 29 March, russian troops attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy fired mortars (21 explosions) and cannon artillery (6 explosions), struck with FPV drones (4 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (20 explosions). Nine settlements were under enemy fire.
The North Operational Command reported that as a result of russian shelling on 29 March, a private house was damaged in the village of Medvedivka, Semenivka community.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, late yesterday evening, the occupants attacked Nikopol with Grad multiple rocket launchers. An educational institution and an enterprise were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported that at night in Kirovohrad oblast, mobile firing groups shot down enemy checkpoints. As a result of the fall of the UAV wreckage, fires broke out in an open area in one of the communities of Holovanivska region.
Poltava oblast

A rally in support of prisoners of war and missing defenders “Don’t be silent – captivity kills” was held in Cherkasy. About 200 people joined the rally.

Kherson oblast
As reported by the RMA, in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a man was hit by a russian drone strike. The 66-year-old resident sustained a blast injury and traumatic amputation of his foot.
According to the city prosecutor’s office, as of 6pm, 6 people were injured in Kherson oblast due to russian attacks. Among them, a 34-year-old man suffered a fractured right leg and a 60-year-old woman was hospitalised in critical condition. Law enforcement has launched a pre-trial investigation into war crimes.
Relying on the information provided by the RMA, at around 1:30pm, russian forces attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson by. a drone. 2 women, aged 36 and 55, sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to their legs.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 29 March, the russian military shelled 28 settlements in Kherson oblast. 4 people were injured, and an apartment building, a private house and a vehicle damaged.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
