Since the beginning of the day, there have been 73 combat clashes along the entire front line.
The invaders continue to strike border settlements. The following settlements have been hit by enemy artillery fire:
Starykove, Seredyna-Buda, Prokhody, Oleksandrivka, Turia, Stepok, Myropilske, and Malushyne in Sumy oblast.
Seven combat clashes have taken place towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk. In addition, the enemy carried out one air strike, dropped one guided aerial bomb, and fired 119 times on the positions of our troops and settlements, including six times with a multiple launch rocket system.
Towards South Slobozhanske, enemy units carried out two attacks on the positions of our troops in Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attempted to storm the positions of Ukrainian units in the direction of Pishchane once.
Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked 13 times today in the areas of the settlements of Novyi Mir, Kolodiazi, Dibrova, Torske, and in the direction of Serednie, Shandryholove, and Yampil. Three more clashes are currently ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the enemy attempted four times to advance near Hryhorivka, Siversk, and Fedorivka – all enemy attempts were repelled.
Towards Kramatorsk, the Defence Forces repelled three attacks in Bila Hora.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our troops in the Toretsk area four times. One battle is currently ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 29 times today in the areas of the following settlements:
Popiv Yar, Volodymyrivka, Novoekonomichne, Mykolaivka, Rodynske, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novopidhorodne, Muravka, Horikove, Dachne, and Novoukrainka.
Fighting continues in three locations.
Towards Novopavlivka, our defenders are repelling two enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Oleksandrohrad and Zelenе Pole.
There have been no clashes in the Huliaipole direction, but the settlement of Bilohiria has been hit by unguided air missiles.
Towards Orikhiv, our defenders repelled two attacks in the area of the settlement of Plavni.
Towards Kherson, Ukrainian units repelled four enemy assaults, with two more ongoing.
Olhivka was hit by an air strike.
Ukrainian engineers have unveiled a multifunctional river drone Ursula. NoviTechNet, a member of the Association of Ukrainian Engineers, has conducted field tests of its new surface drone, Ursula. It is a compact unmanned boat about 1 metre long that performs several combat functions: reconnaissance by monitoring rivers, canals and coastal areas, floating mine by the ability to carry explosives to attack enemy targets, platform for FPV drones by launching drones directly from the water. Development began in 2023 at the request of the military to counter enemy rotations on the Dnipro islands. Ursula is already preparing for combat operations in frontline waters.
The share of domestically produced weapons and equipment in AOS purchases increased to 71.4% in seven months. From January to July 2025, the Ukrainian Defence Procurement Agency (AOS) significantly increased orders in favour of Ukrainian manufacturers — by UAH 158bn more than in the same period in 2024. This made it possible to increase the share of domestic weapons and equipment in the structure of the DPA’s purchases.

Andrii Kanashevich, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that during the morning attack by the russian Federation on Kupiansk, a 74-year-old woman was wounded. A 65-year-old man who was wounded died in an ambulance.
As a result of the shelling over the past day, two people were killed and one was injured.
A 75-year-old man was killed and a 52-year-old man was injured in the village of Slatyne, Derhachi community; a 65-year-old man was killed in Kupiansk.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

Civilian infrastructure facilities damaged and destroyed:

▪️In Bohodukhiv region, a private house was damaged (Ivashky).
For veterans from Kharkiv oblast who are returning to civilian life, a four-month project called “Veterans2Tech” has been launched by the Kharkiv IT Cluster. The project combines career guidance, training and support.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
Maksym Butolin , Chief Sergeant of the 54th Mechanised Brigade, reported that more Shaheds, including UAVs with artificial intelligence, have been used by russian troops on the front line towards Siversk.
Artem Sholudko, an officer of the 4th Operational Battalion of the Spartan Brigade, said that towards Pokrovsk, the russians are trying to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defences using bicycles, motorcycles and even diving equipment. The Spartan Brigade is recording unusual attempts at assaults and sabotage.
Maksym Bilousov, Head of the communications department of the 60th separate mechanised Ingulets Brigade, said that Ukrainian soldiers of the 60th Brigade eliminated about 400 russian soldiers towards Lyman in July. The russian army can resort to mechanised assaults once a month, but this equipment is destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Serhii Khominskyi, press officer of the 100th Separate Mechanised Brigade, said that russian troops towards Toretsk, in the area of responsibility of the 100th Separate Mechanised Brigade, have been trying for two years to capture the city of Toretsk and advance towards Kostiantynivka. They have not succeeded. The russian army is constantly changing tactics. According to him, the Russian military is resorting to infiltrating small infantry groups, occasionally using armoured vehicles in assaults, and constantly shelling, in particular with artillery.
According to the General Staff, towards Lyman, russian troops increased the number of attacks to 32 over the past day, compared to 18 assaults the day before. The russian army attacked in the areas of Novoiehorivka, Karpivka, Zelena Dolyna, Yampolivka, and in the direction of Dronivka and Serebrianka.
Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped 57 assaults over the past day. Towards Novopavlivka, russian troops carried out 17 attacks.
Attacks
Today, at around 11:20am, russians dropped three FAB-250 bombs with UMPC modules on Kostiantynivka. Eight apartment buildings were damaged. Three civilians were injured as a result of the attack:

▪️his wife, 70 years old;
▪️a 47-year-old man.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
At 4pm, russian units carried out two attacks in Vovchansk towards South Slobozhanske. Towards Kupiansk, the russian army attempted to storm the positions of Ukrainian units in the direction of Pishchane.
Andrii Kanashevych, Head of Kupiansk Regional Military Administration, reported that russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are active in settlements near Kupiansk. There are no DRGs in the city itself.
Over the past day, 172 combat clashes were recorded. According to the Regional Military Administration, towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy stormed the positions of our units seven times in the areas of Vovchansk, Zelene, and Krasne Pershe. Yesterday, there were six attacks by the invaders in the Kupiansk direction. Our defenders repelled the enemy’s assault in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Kindrashivka and Lozova.
Attacks
The occupiers shelled Borova community. Preliminarily, the russian army struck with multiple launch rocket systems.
As a result of the enemy attack in the village of Novoplatonivka, five people were killed and three were wounded. A shop is on fire. A private house is on fire in the village of Pisky-Radkivski. Information about the victims is being clarified.
Petro Tokar, Head of Kharkiv police, reported that people who gathered near the shop in Novoplatonivka, Borivska community, when russian troops struck it with MLRS, came there to get humanitarian aid — water. According to him, there is no water supply in the village.

According to Serhii Horbunov, Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in the morning of 29 July, russian troops fired on the town of Kostiantynivka using an FPV strike drone. A municipal utility vehicle was hit, resulting in two rescue workers being injured.
At around 3am, russia struck the village of Oleksievo-Druzhkivka with an FPV drone, damaging a private house. No information about casualties has been received.
On 28 July, russia launched 3,093 strikes on the front line and residential areas.
Seventeen settlements were under fire: the cities of Bilytske, Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, the villages of Svitle, Yarova, the villages of Hannivka, Hryshyne, Znamivka, Ivanopil, Iverske, Markove, Novyi Donbas, Novoselivka.
Sixty-eight civilian objects were damaged, including 55 residential buildings.
The russians fired on Kostiantynivka six times with drones, KAB-250 bombs, and Smerch multiple launch rocket systems, injuring one person and damaging two apartment buildings, a private house, a business, and a farm building.
In Iverske, Novodonetsk community, a civilian was injured and a service station and car shop were damaged as a result of a Lancet UAV strike.
Druzhkivka was attacked by five enemy UAVs, destroying three private houses, a civilian car, non-residential premises, and railway tracks.
In Lyman, russian drones damaged a critical infrastructure facility. The occupiers struck Yarova with a KAB-250 bomb, damaging two private homes. In Novoselivka, Lyman community, the enemy targeted a private house and a farm building with a Uragan multiple launch rocket system.
Russian troops dropped two KAB-250 bombs on Ivanopil, damaging 31 private homes. In Markove, Kostiantynivka community, six private homes were damaged by a bomb strike.
In Pokrovsk, a private house was destroyed, and in Hryshyne, an FPV drone hit a private home. In Myrnohrad, an artillery shell damaged an apartment building.
In Dobropillia, FPV drones damaged an apartment building and a social infrastructure facility. As a result of a guided aerial bomb hitting Svitle, Dobropillia community, four private homes were damaged. In Novyi Donbas, a private home was damaged. In Bilytske, a bank building was damaged.
Luhansk oblast
Over the past day, the invaders concentrated their offensive efforts near Novoiehorivka. According to the RMA, they carried out a total of 32 assaults on Lyman section of the front. The occupiers attempted to fire 17 times with barrel artillery. Their combat tasks were carried out by 78 unmanned aerial vehicles and FPV drones.
The russians’ biannual increase in utility rates has led to the accumulation of significant debts by the population of the so-called “lpr”. Most residents, especially in the territories captured three years ago, are unable to pay their bills due to low salaries or lack of work altogether. Therefore, instead of working with subscribers and looking for individual ways to resolve the situation, the management companies decided to simplify the task for themselves — they took the initiative to transfer the debt for housing and utility services to collectors.
There is only one notary in Lysychansk. During office hours, locals, residents of Privillia and Novodruzhesk, and surrounding villages gather outside the office, trying to get in to see the specialist. The queue is several months long. There is no alternative. The situation is similar in neighbouring towns. Therefore, it is impossible to resolve the issue quickly, even if you have a car.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
On Independence Square, the memory of Ukrainian prisoners of war killed by russian forces three years ago in Olenivka was honored. People came with posters reading ‘Don’t stay silent about captivity,’ ‘Olenivka,’ ‘Remember the cost,’ and ‘Justice is silent, but we are not.
Families held a rally outside the Coordination Headquarters in Kyiv in support of prisoners of war and those missing in action from Kursk front. Representatives of the Coordination Headquarters came out to speak with the families. According to them, more than 60 individuals have already been returned from captivity this year.
In Kyiv oblast, local residents discovered two artillery shells. The first explosive device was found in a field in Rakivka, Bucha region, and the second in Hostomel. Pyrotechnic teams worked at both locations. The items turned out to be 76 mm artillery shells left over from World War II.
On 26 July in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard held a tactical medicine training for women. Participants received basic life-saving knowledge for critical situations: how to stop bleeding, apply a tourniquet, provide first aid to themselves or others, and evacuate a wounded person from a danger zone. The event took place at Vcentri HUB: Obolon.
Zhytomyr oblast
According to Zhytomyrvodokanal, modernization of pumping equipment has been completed at three water supply stations in Zhytomyr. In the first month of operation, the new pumps saved 64% of electricity at Kroshnia station. This is a pilot project involving investment in modernization without any financial costs for the utility company.
Sumy oblast
The General Staff reported that on Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk front, ten combat engagements took place over the past day. In total, russian forces carried out 14 airstrikes, dropped 28 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 308 attacks, including eight by multiple launch rocket systems.
According to the City Council, In Seredyna-Buda, a russian drone damaged a civilian vehicle. No injuries were reported. Windows of a nearby house were also damaged.
Oleh Stohniy, Head of Romny community, said that on 28 July at approximately 11:45pm, a hostile UAV crashed and detonated in Romny community. The explosion damaged commercial facilities and private residential buildings. One man was hospitalized. Part of the settlement was left without electricity. Restoration efforts are ongoing.
The Regional Military Administration informed that at approximately 5:45pm on 28 July, russian forces attacked Buryn community by four strike UAVs. The attack destroyed a local shop and injured one of the shopkeepers. Damage was also recorded to residential buildings, the cultural center, non-residential premises, and vehicles.

According to the Regional Military Administration, as a result of russian shelling across the oblast over the past day, four people were injured. In Krasnopillia community, a civilian born in 1980 was wounded by an FPV-drone strike. In Seredyna-Buda community, a civilian born in 1959 was injured by a multiple launch rocket system attack. In Buryn community, a local woman was wounded in a UAV strike. In Romny community, a local man born in 1979 sustained injuries due to a UAV attack.
As a result of russian attacks on Sumy oblast, the following damage was recorded:
– In Seredyna-Buda community – three private houses and a shop;
– In Sumy community – a private house and a vehicle;
– In Nova Slobidka community – an administrative building;
– In Esman community – a shop building;
– In Buryn community – administrative buildings, non-residential premises, bank, post office, printing house, shop, five private houses, and 14 vehicles;
– In Romny community – a shop building.
Between the morning of 28 July and the morning of 29 July, russian forces carried out over 100 attacks on 42 settlements across 16 territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (over 20 strikes), dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (over 10 strikes), and launched nearly 40 attacks by multiple launch rocket systems. FPV-drones and other UAVs were also employed.
Over the past day, seven people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and civil society organizations.
The Regional Military Administration reported that throughout 29 July, recovery efforts continued in Buryn community following yesterday’s russian drone attack. The blast wave from four hostile UAVs damaged over 100 windows in residential buildings, administrative offices, commercial facilities, and civilian infrastructure. Municipal services, volunteer groups, and civil society organizations joined the restoration efforts.
Another 787 residents of Lebedyn community received free medical care from Fortitude’s mobile clinics. Over the past week, doctors operated in the villages of Katerynivka, Chervlene, and Prystailove. ‘Sumy Mobile Clinics’ project is implemented by the Fortitude charitable foundation in cooperation with the International Rescue Committee in Ukraine.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment reported that throughout 28 July, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. A total of 32 strikes were recorded. The enemy shelled by mortars (5 explosions), launched a Lancet UAV (1 explosion), used FPV-drones (10 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (12 explosions).
In Semenivka community, a non-residential building caught fire in Mykolaivka village due to explosive devices dropped from UAVs. In Khotiivka village, a building caught fire following a strike by a Lancet UAV.
On 28 July, a Memorial Alley was opened in Staryi Bykiv to honor six civilian residents who were tortured and killed during the russian occupation of the village in 2022. A portrait was also installed of a fellow villager who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2023 and died in March 2025.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Air defence systems were active in the oblast and destroyed an enemy UAV.
During the night, the enemy launched a missile strike on Kamianske. 2 people were killed and 5 injured, including a pregnant woman. A non-operational building was destroyed. A hospital and a maternity ward sustained damage. In the evening and the following morning, the occupiers continued shelling Nikopol region, targeting the regional centre, Pokrov and Marhanets communities. 5 private houses, 2 utility buildings, a bus and several cars were damaged. Updated information indicates that a shop, garage, vehicle, entertainment facility, post office, private houses, utility buildings, infrastructure and power lines were damaged in the attacks. The enemy attacked the Mezhova, Dubovyky and Slovianka communities in Synelnykove region. 1 person was killed and 2 injured. A gas station, private houses, shops, an administrative building and vehicles were damaged. According to clarified information, in Velykomykhailivka community, a 75-year-old woman was killed in an evening strike and a 68-year-old man was injured. A private house was damaged.
During the day, the enemy continued to strike Nikopol region by drones and artillery, conducting around 15 attacks. They targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Pokrov and Marhanets communities. In Nikopol, a 50-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man were injured by a drone strike and received medical assistance. Fires broke out. A 5-story building, 4 private houses, 3 utility buildings, a shop, 3 vehicles, a power line, a gas pipeline and infrastructure were damaged. Synelnykove region came under russian drone attack, namely towards Malomykhailivka, Mezhova and Pokrov communities. Several fires occurred. According to updated reports, the night attack on Kamianske resulted in 3 fatalities and 22 people injured.
Vinnytsia oblast
A memorial event will be held in Vinnytsia in honour of the fallen soldier Andrii Dzyha Dzygalenko. He was a volunteer during the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and a fighter of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence. The event will take place on his birthday. He died a year ago, just 2 weeks before turning 38.
Kirovohrad oblast
Oleksandr Mosin, Deputy Mayor, reported that in Kropyvnytskyi, recovery work continues for the second day following a drone attack on the city. The regional philharmonic hall sustained damage to 26 windows and 4 doors. At the Central Ukrainian University building, 7 metal-plastic windows and 1 stained-glass window were damaged. 3 people have submitted claims to Kropyvnytskyi City Council for property damage caused by the 28 July drone attack and have requested financial assistance.
In Svitlovodsk (Oleksandriia region) and Novoukrainka (Kirovohrad oblast), memorial ceremonies were held for fallen soldiers Denys Holyk and Serhii Nazarov.
Denys Holyk was taken prisoner on 1 March 2022, during the defence of Mariupol and died on 24 January 2024.
Serhii Nazarov was declared missing in June 2024. DNA analysis confirmed his death near Semenivka village, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast, on 6 June 2024.
Mariia Shelest, Regional Coordinator, informed that in the dormitory of Kamianets village (Kropyvnytskyi region), a sports room was created for internally displaced persons (IDPs). The dormitory houses 226 IDPs. They can use the facility for free and take shelter there during air raids. Another relaxation room has been equipped in Troianka village and a new one is planned in Svitlovodsk. The charitable foundation Rokada supports 12 IDP housing locations in the oblast.
Poltava oblast
A memorial ceremony was held in Poltava at the Holy Assumption Cathedral for soldier Oleksandr Poliakov, who was killed by an FPV drone strike in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
3 servicemen from Poltava oblast killed during combat operations against the russian military: Kostiantyn Kutsenko had been missing since 26 March 2024, in Donetsk oblast; Serhii Demiianenko killed on 24 July 2025, during fighting near Popivka village, Sumy oblast; Andrii Teliuk killed on 24 July 2025, during the execution of a combat mission.
In Poltava, some of the portraits on Poltava Remembers the Heroes memorial alley were blessed. Currently, 550 photos are displayed on the alley and 55 additional stands with 110 portraits are planned for installation this year.
Cherkasy oblast
In Cherkasy, a memorial ceremony was held for fallen soldier Oleksandr Saraiev, who served as a combat engineer. He was killed in action near Kramatorsk, Donetsk oblast.
In Uman, another memorial ceremony was held for fallen defender Ivan Zinoviev, who killed during a combat mission. He was 50 years old.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the Ministry of Justice, up to 16 inmates were killed and 42 injured as a result of a russian strike on Bilenke Correctional Colony in Zaporizhzhia. Around 40 more individuals sustained injuries of varying severity and 1 staff member of the facility received minor injuries. The strike was carried out late last night by 4 KABs. The dining hall was destroyed and the administrative headquarters and quarantine unit were damaged.
Referring to the Regional Military Administration, around 100 houses, 2 educational institutions and a hospital were damaged due to a russian airstrike on Bilenke during the night of 29 July.
Based on the information provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 29 July, the Defence Forces repelled 2 russian assaults near Plavni in Orikhiv region.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that an 81-year-old woman was injured as a result of a russian attack on Polohy region.
On 28 July, russian forces launched 672 strikes on 14 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. In particular, artillery strikes were carried out 189 times on the settlements of Solodke, Preobrazhenka, Orikhiv, Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Charivne.

Mykolaiv oblast
The RMA reported that on the night of 29 July, air defence forces destroyed 5 Shahed drones over Mykolaiv oblast. A fire broke out due to combat activity and falling debris: warehouses and grass ignited on the territory of an agricultural enterprise. There were no injuries reported.
On 28 July, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community by FPV drones. 2 private houses were damaged in Parutyne village. There were no casualties or injuries reported.
Odesa oblast
According to the Ukrainian Navy, no russian naval ships were observed in the Black Sea. The reduced use of Kalibr-type cruise missiles may be due to complications in russia’s preparation for their deployment. Another possible reason is the limited operational capacity in the Black Sea area.
Kherson oblast
In Kherson, Russian troops attacked a truck belonging to one of the State Emergency Service units with a drone. Two rescuers were wounded. They were taken to hospital, according to the State Emergency Service.
Today, the Russian army fired artillery at the suburb of Zelenivka in Kherson. A 29-year-old man who was in his garden was seriously wounded, according to the Regional Military Administration.
As a result of Russian shelling in Kherson, the Korabelny microdistrict is temporarily without power due to significant damage, according to Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Regional Military Administration.
Over the past day, Russian troops shelled 34 settlements in the Kherson region. One person was killed and three were wounded. Two high-rise buildings, 12 private houses, a warehouse, a farm building, and cars were damaged, according to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Alexander Prokudin.
A 78-year-old resident of Bilozerska in the Kherson region, who was twice hit by Russian UAVs, was taken to the hospital. On the evening of July 26, the Russians dropped explosives from a drone onto the car in which she was traveling. The next day, the drone attacked the woman on the street, according to the Regional Military Administration.
Two mobile shelters were installed in two settlements of the Kochubei community in the Kherson region. Almost one million hryvnias were allocated from the state and local budgets for the construction. In total, about 360 mobile shelters have already been installed in the region, according to the Regional Military Administration.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
The charity run raised over UAH 100,000 to help the military. 157 participants, including 40 children, took part in the event. Funds have already been transferred for the first brigade training for the 20th Lyubart brigade of the 1st corps of the Azov Naval University for long-range fiber-optic strike UAVs.
Zakarpattia oblast
Myroslav Biletsky, Head of the RMA, met with Anatolii Khromov, Head of the State Archival Service,. They discussed the details of digitizing documents. There are 4 special scanners operating in the region. In wartime, the preservation of documents and historical materials is especially important.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
100 FPVs and 2 Mavics were transferred to the 128th Heavy Mechanized Brigade Dyke Pole from Ivano-Frankivsk community.
Lviv oblast
A new support center for displaced people from the Kherson region has been opened in Lviv. Here IDP can get legal and psychological counseling, humanitarian assistance, employment advice, access to educational and cultural events, as well as electronic services and social support
Rivne oblast
An air raid alert was sounded in Rivne oblast for almost the entire night. The Air Defense Forces neutralized several enemy air targets over the oblast. People and infrastructure were not harmed.
Ternopil oblast
Zalozetsk settlement community sent a fire truck and a Lanos passenger car thanks to the Side by Side: United Communities initiative.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent 200 10-inch drones with reinforced batteries worth over UAH 2.5m to the military.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi said goodbye to the fourth victim of the russian missile attack on the city on the night of 12 July. For over 10 days, medics fought for the life of 44-year-old veteran and volunteer Ilona Kapelnytska, and on 25 July she died from injuries sustained during the enemy attack.
