What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

Since the beginning of the day, the number of enemy attacks has already reached 59.

Artillery shelling of border areas continues. Today, in the Sumy region, the settlements of Budky, Iskryskivshchyna, Tovstodubove, Korenyok, Bachivsk, and Ryzhivka were affected; as well as Azarivka and Kostobobriv in the Chernihiv region. In addition, the enemy carried out an airstrike in the area of the settlement of Korenyok in the Sumy region.

In the North-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, the enemy conducted 31 shelling attacks on populated areas and positions of our troops, one of which involved the use of multiple launch rocket systems.

In the South-Slobozhanskyi, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Prydniprovskyi directions, no enemy attacks have been recorded at this time.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted once to improve its tactical position near the settlement of Novoosynove.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled seven attempts by the invaders to advance near the settlements of Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove, Drobysheve, and Lyman.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the invaders carried out 18 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, Berestok, Stepanivka, and Sofiivka. Two engagements are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have attempted 16 times to push our troops from their positions near the settlements of Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Novopavlivka. Two engagements are still ongoing.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy launched six assaults near Oleksandrohrad, Vyshneve, and Krasnohirsk. One engagement is currently ongoing. In addition, Pysantsi was subjected to an airstrike.

In the Huliaipole direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 11 enemy attacks near Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Myrne, and Sviatopetrivka. The enemy also carried out airstrikes in the areas of Verkhna Tersa, Dolynka, Liubytske, and Novosoloshyne.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked near Tokmachka, Stepove, and Shcherbaky. The area of Veselianka was subjected to an airstrike.

In other directions, no significant changes in the situation have been observed. No enemy attempts to advance have been recorded.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Over the past day, 158 combat engagements were recorded.

In the South-Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian forces attempted three times to break through the defenses of Ukrainian defenders toward Starytsia, Zybyne, and Okhrimivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army carried out four attacks toward Nova Kruhliakivka, Kurylivka, and Platonivka.

In the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv, six people were injured as a result of a morning Russian drone strike involving a BM-35 “Italmas” UAV. A 65-year-old man sustained blast injuries, while five women sought medical assistance due to acute stress reactions. The strike hit near a multi-story residential building: the façade was damaged, windows were shattered, and at least 10 vehicles were also damaged.

Over the past day, Kharkiv and 16 settlements in the region came under Russian attacks.

As a result of shelling, two people were killed and 17 others were injured, including a child. In Kharkiv, a 70-year-old woman was killed. Injured were women aged 66, 84, 85, and 55; men aged 71, 58, and 48; as well as a 15-year-old girl. In Klynova-Novoselivka of the Zolochiv community, a 61-year-old man was killed. In Shevchenkove, a 29-year-old and a 54-year-old woman, as well as an 85-year-old man, were injured. In Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, a 72-year-old man was injured; in Kurylivka, a 45-year-old man; in Kivsharivka, a 69-year-old woman; and in Pechenihy, women aged 70, 74, and 75 were injured.

Medical assistance was also provided to a 50-year-old man who had been wounded in Kurylivka on March 24.

Russian forces attacked the Novobavarskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones.

To strike the Kharkiv region, the occupiers used 4 guided aerial bombs (KABs), 17 “Geran-2” UAVs, 1 “Molniya” UAV, 2 FPV drones, and 22 UAVs of unidentified type.

In the Kharkiv region, the following were damaged: 5 apartment buildings and 6 private houses, as well as 10 vehicles in Kharkiv; a vehicle in Klynova-Novoselivka; an agricultural enterprise, a vehicle, a cultural center, and power lines in Zolochiv; a private house and a vehicle in Voloska Balakliia; 5 apartment buildings and 2 private houses, a dormitory, and a shop in Velykyi Burluk; a private house in Spodobivka and a hospital in Shevchenkove; 4 private houses in Vasylivka Persha, a private house in Ivanivka, and 10 private houses in Studenok; power lines in Slatyne; a grain warehouse in Lozova; power lines in Bilyi Kolodiaz; and an apartment building and a private house in Pechenihy.

The transit evacuation center in Lozova received 242 people over the past day. Since the beginning of its operation, 24,751 people have been registered there.

Donetsk oblast

In the Pokrovsk direction, over the past day, the Defense Forces repelled 44 Russian assaults. The occupiers attacked in the areas of Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Novopidhorodne, Molodetske, Horikhove, Svitlo, Novoserhiivka, and in the directions of Novyi Donbas, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, and Shevchenko.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, 16 Russian attacks were recorded over the past day. In the Sloviansk sector of the front, the Defense Forces stopped another eight attempts by the occupiers to advance.

Infantry soldiers of the Alcatraz Battalion of the 93rd Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar” have spent 224 days on positions in the Kostiantynivka direction.

On March 25, police recorded 1,837 Russian strikes along the frontline and in residential areas of the region.

Nine settlements came under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, Sviatohirsk, and Sloviansk; the settlement of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka; and the villages of Kurytsyne and Serhiivka.

A total of 32 civilian objects were damaged, including 20 residential buildings.

In Sloviansk, Russian forces struck with three “Geran-2” UAVs. A civilian man was injured. A critical infrastructure municipal enterprise, коммунal equipment, three apartment buildings, and four private houses were damaged.

In Kostiantynivka, the occupiers dropped a KAB-250 aerial bomb, which destroyed a private house.

Kramatorsk came under four attacks, including drone strikes. Two apartment buildings, five private houses, and three civilian vehicles were damaged.

In Mykolaivka, an apartment building and a municipal enterprise were damaged; in Serhiivka, four private houses; and in Kurytsyne, an enterprise.

Currently, about 176,000 people remain in the Donetsk region, including just over 10,700 children.

 

Luhansk oblast

In the Luhansk region, over the past day, Russian forces fired mortars six times, used tube artillery four times, and automatic grenade launchers twice, and also launched 16 UAVs at settlements and positions of Ukrainian defenders. In the Lyman and Sloviansk sectors of the front, the occupiers attempted 14 assaults on Ukrainian positions.

The Atesh movement reported the destruction of a relay cabinet at a railway junction near Luhansk, which, according to them, disrupted the supply of Russian troops in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions.

In the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, Russian authorities have identified 50,000 apartments with unpaid utility bills and are preparing them for so-called “nationalization.” Non-payment of utilities for a year has become a formal pretext for the seizure of housing. The largest number of such apartments was found in Luhansk, Alchevsk, Sokolohirsk, Sorokyne, and Kadiivka.

Nearly 40% of entrepreneurs in the so-called “LNR” are operating in “survival mode.” The reasons include low living standards, an outflow of qualified personnel, high rental costs, and pressure on local businesses from Russian authorities.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Kyiv region continues to lead in distributed generation capacity, reaching 189 MW. A total of 78 generating units are already operating in local communities, ensuring the autonomy of critical infrastructure facilities, businesses, and the social sector, according to Head of the Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk.

Communities in the region have already received 804 out of 1,160 generators for mobile network base stations, with distribution ongoing daily. Automatic transfer to backup power has been installed at 91% of base stations. Since February, the operational status of mobile network infrastructure in the region has remained at 97–99%.

Communities have also received 36 modular boiler units with a total capacity of 17.5 MW, serving as резерв capacity in case of emergencies in district heating systems.

So far, 58 out of 69 communities have approved their local resilience plans and begun implementation, the Regional Military Administration reported. By September 1, each community is expected to be fully prepared for the next winter season.

In Kyiv, a minute of silence will be broadcast through the public alert system in all districts of the city. Equipment modernization is currently underway, as discussed during the Kyiv City Council meeting on March 26. To date, 420 out of 630 planned alert points have been upgraded.

The Kyiv City Council has also approved the renaming of Chervona Street in the Solomianskyi district in honor of Azov reconnaissance soldier Vasyl Kopan (“Neznayka”). He had been fighting since the early days of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, survived the siege of Mariupol, endured captivity, and returned to service afterward. He was responsible for the elimination of hundreds of occupying forces. Vasyl Kopan was killed in action.

Zhytomyr oblast

In the settlement of Brusyliv, Zhytomyr district, construction has begun on a multi-apartment residential building for internally displaced persons who lost their homes due to hostilities or Russian occupation and are currently residing in the community. The project is being implemented with the support of the Government of Estonia. On March 24, a symbolic cornerstone-laying ceremony took place at the construction site, according to the Regional Military Administration.

On March 25, an online ceremony was held to sign a twinning agreement between the cities of Ross-on-Wye (United Kingdom) and Ovruch (Zhytomyr region). The event marked an important step in developing international cooperation at the community level and served as further confirmation of strong support for Ukraine from British partners during the full-scale war.

Sumy oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that Fighters of Sumy Border Guard Detachment towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk destroyed a russian 152 mm Hyacinth-B artillery gun, a UAV ammunition depot and enemy vehicles.

During the day of 25 March, russian forces attacked Manukhivka in Novoslobidka community by three UAVs. As a result of the strikes, the premises of the local House of Culture were destroyed. Svitlana Malysheva, Local Head, informed that a fire broke out at the site. According to her, 33 people remain living in Manukhivka. Evacuation from the village was announced in 2024.

On the evening of 25 March, russian forces struck an enterprise in Velyka Cherechchyna starosta region of Sumy community. As a result of the attack, an administrative building, outbuildings and three poultry houses were damaged.

Serhii Bespalko, Head of Velyka Pysarivka Settlement Military Administration, said that on 25 March, a russian drone struck in Shyrokyi Bereh village, injuring a 60-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman. In the evening, “White Angels” unit evacuated the injured from the village and transported them to Okhtyrka, where they received medical assistance.

Between the morning of 25 March and the morning of 26 March, russian forces carried out more than 110 attacks on 43 settlements across 20 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the past day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted for 20 hours and 2 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:

  • In Znob-Novhorodske community, a non-residential building, vehicles and technical equipment were damaged;
  • In Berezivka community, a private household and an outbuilding were damaged;
  • In Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house and outbuildings were destroyed, and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
  • In Vorozhba community, a non-residential building was damaged;
  • In Kyrykivka community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • In Krasnopillia community, a private residential house and an administrative building were damaged;
  • In Sumy community, a private residential house and non-residential premises were damaged;
  • In Nova Slobidka community, the premises of a House of Culture were destroyed;
  • In Mykolaivka settlement community, premises of a healthcare facility, an apartment building, a private residential house and vehicles were damaged;
  • In Velyka Pysarivka community, private passenger cars were damaged;
  • In Lebedynka community, non-residential buildings and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
  • In Mykolaivka rural community, an outbuilding was damaged;
  • In Sad community, an outbuilding was damaged.

Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and public organisations, evacuated 18 people from border communities.

According to the Regional Military Administrations, rescuers in Sumy oblast received three mobile assistance points. These are inflatable-frame tents equipped with generators, heating and rest areas. They will be deployed at emergency sites and during prolonged power outages. The assistance was provided with the support of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

The Regional Military Administration announced that in Sumy oblast, 104 specialists are working to support veterans and demobilised persons. A specialist can be found online via “Veteran Pro” portal in “Diia” application or in person through local veteran policy units.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that in the skies over Chernihiv oblast on 25 March, border guards of the 105th Detachment named after Prince Volodymyr the Great shot down two russian UAVs.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that during the night of 26 March, a strike UAV detonated in Krasnopillia village, Korop community. As a result of the explosion, damage to critical infrastructure and a private household was recorded.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during 25 March, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out strikes using artillery (1 explosion), Molniia UAVs (3 explosions), Herbera UAVs (1 explosion), FPV drones (20 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (4 explosions). Nine settlements were under enemy fire.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration announced that a Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia for Assistance and Reconstruction of Ukraine, Juris Poikans, is on a visit to Chernihiv oblast. According to him, Latvian partners are assisting with the reconstruction of Yahidne village, building houses and modular homes. Work is currently underway to equip a shelter in the paediatric department of Chernihiv Central Regional Hospital.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that in the morning, russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih by UAVs. Damage was reported at an industrial enterprise. The occupiers shelled Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities by FPV drones and artillery. UAV strikes targeted Mykolaivka, Vasylkivka and Petropavlivka communities. A fire broke out, and a transport enterprise, 8 vehicles and buses, a car wash, a private house and an industrial facility were damaged.

 

In Marhanets community, 3 people were injured, an 82-year-old woman and 2 men aged 39 and 60. During the day, russian forces continued attacking the region by FPV drones and artillery, also targeting the regional centre, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske rural communities. Fires broke out. An outbuilding was destroyed; a gas station, 5 private houses, 5 outbuildings, 3 cars, a minibus, an enterprise and a gas pipeline were damaged.

Drones struck Kryvyi Rih, Zelenodolsk and Hrushivka communities. Infrastructure, a private house and a shop were damaged. Vasylkivka and Mykolaivka communities were attacked by UAVs and KABs. An outbuilding and a combine harvester caught fire and vehicles were damaged. In Dnipro, 5 people were injured in a UAV attack and 7 rescued. A high-rise building caught fire, while a two-storey building and 10 vehicles were damaged. A fire broke out in Mykolaivka community.

Vinnytsia oblast 

In Vinnytsia oblast, the mother of 21-year-old fallen soldier Ivan Zhabrytskyi was presented with her son’s posthumous award — the medal For Military Service to Ukraine.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, stated that during the night, Kirovohrad oblast was attacked by russian UAVs.

Poltava oblast

Since early morning, enemy UAVs were detected over Poltava oblast and shot down by air defence forces. As a result of falling debris in Myrhorod region, 2 outbuildings were damaged. In Poltava oblast, drone debris fell in a private yard.

Cherkasy oblast

A serviceman from Verhuny starosta region, Vitalii Morhun, was killed in the war with russia. He had previously been considered missing in action.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that a 71-year-old man and woman were injured as a result of a russian attack on Orikhiv. The russian forces struck the frontline city by a drone, damaging a private house.

 

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 25 March, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 21 russian attacks in Huliaipole, Orikhiv and Oleksandrivka regions. Combat engagements took place near Krasnohirsk, Huliaipole, Varvarivka, Olenokostiantynivka, Prymorske and toward Zaliznychne and Myrne.

 

Based on the information provided by the National Police, on 25 March, a 63-year-old woman was injured in a drone strike on a shop in Novomykolaivka.

 

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 25 March, russian forces carried out more than 600 strikes on 35 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast over the past day. One person was injured in an attack on Zaporizhzhia oblast.

 

Mykola Vinichenko, Head of Orikhiv CMA, said that as a result of a russian drone attack on Yasna Poliana in Zaporizhzhia oblast on the night of 20 March, 30-year-old Viktoriia Khvostyk was killed. She had moved to the village with her family from frontline Orikhiv. Her husband Vitalii and their 10-year-old son sustained burns and are currently undergoing treatment in Zaporizhzhia.

Mykolaiv oblast

Relying on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, over the past day, 7 Shahed-type drones and various decoy UAVs were neutralised in Mykolaiv oblast.

Odesa oblast

According to Izmail Regional State Administration, russian forces attacked port and energy infrastructure in Izmail region by drones. One person was injured. Damage was recorded in Izmail and Vylkove community. 4 DTEK energy facilities were targeted. Port and civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, vehicles and an administrative building of a municipal enterprise were damaged.

Kherson oblast

Referring to the RMA, a worker of a thermal power plant was killed as a result of russian shelling of Kherson. At around 2pm, a 66-year-old woman came under attack and sustained injuries incompatible with life.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The President awarded Vadym Krukyn, Commander of the 20th Brigade Lyubart, with the III degree Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky. During the ceremony, the Head of State thanked the personnel of the brigade for their exemplary service and noted the significant results demonstrated by soldiers on the front line.

Zakarpattia oblast

Candidates for the Council of Veterans of the War for Independence of Ukraine have been identified in the oblast. The decisive vote will take place on 8 April 2026, during the regional meeting.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA discussed the consequences of the enemy shelling and security issues with heads of structural units of the RMA, as well as representatives of state services and departments. Families of the deceased will be provided with financial assistance from the regional budget. All victims can also receive financial support.

Lviv oblast

Over 150 participants united for charity and emotional recovery. The traditional hike to the mountains kicked off the new season of the Hike Therapy project, which helps defenders and their families find new points of support. Joint efforts have already managed to raise more than UAH 333,000. All funds will be directed to support the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Galician Brigade of the Airborne Assault Brigade and the 2nd Galician Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Rivne oblast

Wojciech Zajonczkowski, Deputy State Secretary of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Anna Nowakowska, Consul General in Lutsk, paid a working visit to Rivne oblast. One of the locations was Shpanivska community, where guests got acquainted with the work of the volunteer fire brigade.

Ternopil oblast

The apartment owners of the building at 8 Vasylia Stus Street, destroyed by a missile strike on 19 November 2025, will receive funds from the sale of the land plot in its place. A land development project for the construction of an apartment building has been approved for the 0.34 hectare plot. After the development of the assessment and approval of the starting price, land auctions will be announced – and the proceeds will be paid to the apartment owners of the destroyed building. The city council has already provided part of the funds in the amount of UAH 10m in advance. In November 2025, experts confirmed that the missile strike caused critical damage to the building, which made the restoration of the building impossible, and dismantling was carried out.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent property and equipment (FPV, copters, UAVs, electronic warfare, NRC) worth UAH 65m to the military.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi received a specially equipped bus for providing administrative services. It is a Mercedes Sprinter, which will allow providing services to people in remote neighborhoods and those who have difficulty getting to the Administrative Services Center. Inside the car there are workplaces, a charging station and a lifting platform for residents with limited mobility.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The American-Ukrainian Fund has received its first investment under the Subsoil Agreement. The funds will go to the Sine Engineering Ukrainian technology company. The company works in the field of communications and navigation, and its components are already used by over 150 Ukrainian manufacturers of drones and interceptors.
