The total number of combat engagements along the entire frontline has increased to 114.
The occupiers continue to use aviation, in particular, combat aircraft. The defence forces are holding their lines and taking the necessary measures to prevent a breakthrough.
The occupiers do not stop using artillery and aircraft on the territory of Ukraine. Oleksandrivka, Potapivka, Porozok, Fotovyzh, Bachivsk, Yanivka, Vovkivka, Seredyna-Buda, Petrushivka, Turia in Sumy oblast; Timonovychi, Popivka, Hremyach, Zarichchia in Chernihiv oblast; and Vidrodzhenske in Kharkiv oblast came under enemy attack. According to the available information, the enemy launched air strikes with unguided missiles near Oleksandrivka and Popivka in Sumy oblast and Hraniv in Kharkiv oblast.
Towards Kharkiv, there were two combat engagements near Vovchansk and Starytsia.
Ukrainian troops repelled six invaders’ assaults near Zapadne, Lozova and Kruhliakivka towards Kupiansk, two combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the enemy is attacking near Kopanky, Cherneshchyna, Novoserhiivka, Platonivka, Zelenyi Hai, Druzheliubivka, Makiivka, Terny, Zarichne, Torske, Serebrianka forest and Hryhorivka. In total, 18 combat engagements have taken place in this sector since the beginning of the day, four of them are still ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the enemy attacked three times near Bilohorivka, and our defenders successfully repelled all attacks.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions eight times near Dyliivka and Toretsk, two of the engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, fierce fighting is taking place in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Dachanske, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Pokrovsk, Novooleynivka, Shevchenko and Novotroitske. So far, the enemy has made 26 attempts to push our defenders from their positions, and 21 attacks have been repelled by our defenders.
Towards Kurakhove, 17 firefights continue in the areas of Petropavlivka, Slovianka and Kurakhove. Eleven enemy attacks have already been repelled by our defenders.
Near Yantarne, Vremivka, Kostiantynopil, Novyi Komar and Kostiantynopolske towards Vremivka, our defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks, and six firefights are ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy did not conduct any active operations.
Towards Orikhiv, near Novoandriivka, the invaders made one futile attempt to push our defenders from their positions.
Towards Kherson, our defenders repelled one enemy attack.
Ten combat engagements took place in Kursk sector today, the enemy dropped nine guided aerial bombs on the areas of populated localities and positions of our defenders, and fired 201 artillery shells, including 13 from multiple rocket launchers.
Emir Adbullaiev, Prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office, reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, 596 children have been killed. Another 1,723 children have suffered injuries of varying severity, and more than 1,940 children are considered to be deported or temporarily displaced.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, said that since the beginning of 2024, russia has fired 3982 times at settlements in Kharkiv oblast. Almost every 10th strike was in Kharkiv.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that russia launched a strike on Kharkiv with a Molniia UAV. The hit damaged the windows of an apartment building and a car.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, reported that russia dropped two UAVs on the outskirts of Zolochiv: the strikes at 1:50pm damaged four private houses, outbuildings and power grids. At 2:05pm, russian aviation struck the territory of an agricultural enterprise with two more KABs, damaging two warehouses and 17 pieces of agricultural machinery. An employee of the farm was killed and two other people were injured.
At 2:20pm, a KAB also struck an open area near Orishanky village, there is no information on damage.
Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of the community, said that the russian military struck the residential sector of Slatyno with two MRLS, hitting a farm. The power went out in part of Slatyne after the strikes.
At around 5:30am, the enemy hit Dvorichna village, a 50-year-old woman was injured. According to the CMA, she was hospitalised.
The regional police reported that on 25 December, the russian army struck Kharkiv and settlements of Kharkiv oblast with various types of weapons. Six civilians were injured and one woman was killed. The enemy used S-300, S-400, MLRS, UAVs, FPV drones, Iskander and X-38 missiles against the civilian population. More than 60 civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed. The police have documented the consequences of the crimes committed by the russian military.
Bohodukhiv region
At 1:15am, Murafa village was shelled with rockets. Three private houses and outbuildings were damaged.
Kharkiv region
At 6:15am, Siriaky village was shelled with a rocket in the open area.
At 6:20am, Podvorky village came under rocket fire. The russians used Iskander-M. Private households, a service station and a shop were damaged.
At 6:30am, Pisochyn village was shelled, the type of weapon is being established. The service station was damaged.
At 6:30am, Kulynychi village was shelled with a rocket. Russians used an X-59 missile. There were no casualties.
At 7:30am, russians attacked Naukove village. They used a Geranium-2 UAV. Four private houses and a garage were damaged.
At 8:20am, russians attacked Babai village. A Geranium-2 UAV was used. The strike was outside the settlement. There were no casualties or damage.
At 9:40am, russians attacked Lobanivka village using an FPV drone. A private house and outbuildings were damaged.
At 10am, russians attacked the village of Selektsiine. They used a Geranium-2 UAV. No damage or casualties.
At 10am, russians attacked Yakovlivka village. A Geranium-2 UAV was used. It hit a field.
Chuhuiv region
At 6:09 am, Nyzhnii Byshkyn village came under rocket fire. Russians used an X-59 missile. A power line was damaged.
At 6:50am, russians attacked Slobozhanske village. A Shahed UAV was used. The territory of a private enterprise was damaged. There were no casualties.
At 7:50am, russians attacked Ternova village. They used a Shahed UAV. A private house was damaged.
At 7am, Zlatopil, Lozova region, was shelled with a rocket launcher. A private house was damaged.
At 8am, russians attacked Ivanivka village in Izium region. They used a Shahed UAV. The attack took place outside the settlement.
At 9:30am, the enemy attacked Novoosynove village, Kupiansk region. They used Grad multiple rocket launchers. The houses were damaged. A civilian woman died.
At 6am, the enemy attacked Kharkiv using S-300, S-400, X-59, and Shahed UAVs. Residential and non-residential buildings, multi-storey buildings, garages, civilian infrastructure, cars, and private households were damaged in six districts of the city. Six civilians were injured.
As a result of the russian army’s strikes on the critical infrastructure of Kharkiv oblast, more than half a million customers were left without heat supply. As of the morning of 26 December, we managed to restore heat to more than 300,000 customers. The process of restoring heating to 1,055 apartment buildings in Kharkiv is underway, which is 9,2104 subscribers. And also for almost 17,000 customers in Kharkiv region.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, reported that the russian military has not been able to occupy any new territories in Kharkiv region since the end of 2022: instead, the “grey zone” where the fighting continues has increased.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by russian troops, Kharkiv investigators have registered 22612 crimes related to russia’s armed aggression in Kharkiv oblast.
Towards Kharkiv, there were three combat engagements with russian invaders in the area of Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried seven times to force our units out of their positions near Dvorichna, Pishchane, Kolisnykivka and Lozova.
Mine clearance works are ongoing in Kharkiv oblast with the involvement of international organisations, but their pace remains slow. According to Oleh Syniehubov, the extent of the mined areas is huge – 570,000 hectares. Calculations show that it will take 33,000 years to completely clear the area at the current rate. Thus, 229,128 explosive items were destroyed by sappers as of 14 November 2024. The work involves 15 vehicles, some of which are made in Ukraine, as well as international organisations, one of which has cleared only 18 hectares of agricultural land in a year. To speed up the process, the company plans to develop new domestic demining machines.
Donetsk oblast
The occupiers focused their fire on 9 settlements: Lyman, Mykolaivka, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Novoekonomichne, Udachne, Hryshyne and Komar. Thirty-one civilian objects were damaged, including 20 residential buildings.

Pokrovsk was attacked by russians with two FAB-250 guided aerial bombs and artillery, damaging four apartment blocks and four private houses, as well as an educational institution.
In Myrnohrad, a cultural centre and a house were damaged by shelling, and in Udachne, a private house and a garage were damaged.
The enemy struck Novoekonomichne with a FAB-250 bomb, damaging a private house.
In Mykolaivka, an infrastructure facility was damaged by a UAV strike.
The russian army shelled the Liman with artillery, damaging an apartment building.
In Komar village, 8 private houses were damaged as a result of an attack from Smerch MLRS.
Roman Padun, Head of the CMA, reported that Kurakhove community spent more than UAH 100m on security and defence needs in 2024. In particular, we bought drones for the police and the Ukrainian military, and equipped fortifications.
The General Staff reported that russian invaders conducted 57 attacks towards Pokrovsk yesterday, which is almost a third of all attacks by russian troops in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
Towards Vremivka, the russian army stormed the frontline 35 times near Kostiantynopilske, Yantarne, Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Velyka Novosilka, Novosilka, Blahodatne and Vremivka.
Another 31 attacks were repelled by the Defence Forces towards Kurakhove, in particular, the occupiers tried to advance near Petropavlivka, Slovianka, Yasenove, Kurakhove, Andriivka and Dachne.
Not far from Toretsk, Ukrainian troops repelled an infantry assault and captured an Egyptian citizen who fought for russia, the Knights of the Winter Campaign Brigade reported on page 28.
The enemy in Kurakhove and surrounding settlements are increasingly using cloaks that are invisible to thermal imaging cameras.
Viktor Trehubov, Spokesman of the Khortytsia Brigade, said that the enemy is trying to pass through Ukrainian positions at night or under the cover of fog, occupy houses or go around neighbourhoods undetected.
Luhansk oblast
The russians fired at frontline villages and our fortifications with rocket and cannon artillery. They also fired unguided aerial missiles near Nadiia. A large number of drones were used along this section of the frontline – 157, which is two to three times the average daily figure for November. The russians attacked in the direction of Novoiehorivka, Makiivka, Bilohorivka and in Serebrianka forest.
In the so-called “lpr”, the invaders admitted that they are not carrying out systematic work to clear the rubble of houses destroyed by the russians in 2022, under which civilian bodies remain. According to the “human rights ombudsman in the lPR”, the local occupation authorities systematically receive relevant information, but the case has not moved forward for more than 2.5 years.
The number of locals in Popasna continues to decrease. After the seizure of the city, it was said that there were 300 people left, but now there are about 250 people living there. The russian authorities have repeatedly stated that it is inappropriate to rebuild the settlement destroyed by russian troops. People there are left to fend for themselves. It should be noted that before the full-scale invasion, the town was home to about 20,000 people.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that since the beginning of the full-scale war, almost 2,000 objects in the capital have been damaged as a result of hostile attacks. Among these, 1,310 multi-apartment residential buildings sustained varying degrees of damage. To date, 22 of the 36 most damaged residential buildings have been fully rebuilt at the city’s expense and their residents have returned to their homes.
Another batch of aid from the Kyiv community has been sent to the frontline. The 27th Pechersk Brigade and the 25th Prince Askold Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine received 22 new Apostle electronic warfare systems each, and 14 Morok 5 specialised tank multi-channel electronic warfare systems were delivered to the soldiers of the 5th Separate Tank Brigade of the Ukrainian Army.
The Mobile Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that sappers neutralised a russian unguided aerial missile discovered in Bucha district. The sappers carefully loaded it into a special vehicle and transported it to the explosive site for further elimination.
The RMA reported that in Irpin, another multi-storey building destroyed by the russians in the spring of 2022 was restored at the expense of the FLN. This is a ten-storey building with 149 apartments located at 52a Kotliarevskoho Street. The 380 residents of the building can finally return to their apartments. Independent technical supervision of the reconstruction was carried out by UNDP Ukraine.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko congratulated 21 families (57 people) of internally displaced persons from Mariupol on receiving keys to rooms in a dormitory in Dniprovskyi district. Another 55 rooms for temporary accommodation will be arranged in the dormitory after the renovation of two floors. In addition, the space has a separate children’s room, coworking space, and laundry facilities.
Vadym Tokar, Mayor of Makariv community, announced that Makariv community has renovated the veterans’ space “Among our own”, which was damaged during the hostilities in February-March 2022. In space, defenders and their families will be able to receive professional psychological and legal assistance, find support, and take part in motivational meetings and events that will help them adapt more easily to civilian life.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Christmas carols were performed by wounded soldiers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who are undergoing rehabilitation. Members of the Kyivska Koliada community presented the soldiers with handmade goodies and symbolic gifts. Visits by Ukrainian bands and creative teams to wounded soldiers undergoing treatment in medical facilities have become an important part of the rehabilitation process.

Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyr oblast is actively implementing a large-scale project to modernise its heat supply using cogeneration technologies. The private company Ukrpallet Energy LLC is implementing a project to install 12 cogeneration units with a total capacity of 26.5 MW.
Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration reported that four psychosocial support centres are planned for opening by 2025. The project is part of the PRO_MentalHealth psychosocial programme implemented by the Polish Solidarity Fund (FSM). It will scale up and improve the model of providing psychosocial support to people who have experienced the negative consequences of war (in particular, veterans, their families, family members of the deceased, and internally displaced persons) at the local level.
For three weeks, Zhytomyr has been hosting an annual city children’s drawing competition on the Christmas theme. At the end of the contest, its participants will take part in a lottery and join a charity fair. The proceeds from the charity auction and sale will be donated to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sumy oblast
Acting Head of Krasnopillia Community Iryna Yukhta reported that around 5pm on 26 December, russian forces attacked Uhroiidy in Sumy oblast,. As a result of the shelling, a man was killed.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that in the morning and afternoon of 26 December, the russian army conducted a massive shelling of Sumy oblasr’s border areas, using various types of weapons, including guided bombs (GABs) and drones. The sound of explosions was heard in Sumy at 11:06am. Further explosions were reported at 11:57am, 1:00pm, 1:21pm and 1:33pm.
Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that during the night, russian forces dropped a VOG grenade from a UAV (resulting in one explosion) on the territory of Krasnopillia community.
On 6 Desember, russians carried out 20 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 95 explosions. The attacks targeted Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Svesa and Seredyna-Buda communities.
Esman Community: The enemy shelled the area by mortars (14 explosions), artillery (12 explosions), and attacked by an FPV-drone (1 explosion).
Hlukhiv Community: FPV-drone attacks (4 explosions).
Seredyna-Buda Community: russian forces dropped 5 mines shells on the community’s territory.
Krasnopillia Community: The area was struck by mortars (9 explosions).
Velyka Pysarivka Community: Artillery shelling (8 explosions), and UAVs dropped VOG grenades (4 explosions).
Nova Slobidka Community: The enemy dropped 6 mines shells on the community.
Shalyhyne Community: An FPV-drone attack was recorded (1 explosion).
Svesa Community: Grenade launcher shelling (29 explosions).
Yunakivka Community: Artillery shelling (2 explosions).
Chernihiv oblast
On 25 Desember russian army attacked two border communities in Chernihiv oblast.
Semenivka community:
2 explosions, probably by FPV-drones in Medvedivka village;
1 explosion, probably explosives dropped from a UAV in Oleksandrivka village;
4 explosions, probably by 152mm artillery in Semenivka town;
3 explosions, probably by FPV-drones in Hremiachka village;
15 explosions, probably by 120mm mortar in Tymonovychi village;
7 explosions, probably by 152mm artillery in Kostobobriv village.
Snovsk community:
2 explosions, probably explosives dropped from a UAV in Khrinivka village.
Baturyn City Council reported that on 25 December, Chernihiv oblast paid tribute to Vasyl Ryzhenkov, a soldier of Armed Forces of Ukraine who died in Kursk oblast.
On the evening of 24 December, the “Volunteers of the North” held a charity Christmas carol event in Chernihiv until 9pm. They visited most of the city’s restaurants and cafes, as well as Desnianske Municipal Enterprise and a private kindergarten.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that on 25 December evening and at night, the enemy continued to attack Nikopol. They fired from artillery and launched a kamikaze drone. The shelling damaged 2 shops, 3 multi-storey buildings, an unused building and power lines in the city.
In the morning, the occupiers attacked a market in Nikopol with a kamikaze drone, injuring 8 people. Seven were hospitalised. Four people are in intensive care in serious condition. During the day, about two and a half dozen attacks were carried out in the area — the occupiers used artillery and drones. They targeted the region centre, Marhanets, Myrove, Pokrovsk and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A gymnasium, a private enterprise, an administrative building, a multi-storey building, 16 private houses, 4 outbuildings, a car, 2 power lines, 2 gas pipelines and infrastructure were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast
Vinnytsia City Council said that special equipment was handed over in Vinnytsia to the Marines serving on the eastern frontline. This time, the soldiers received a Mavic-3T.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kirovograd oblast, the mother of a fallen soldier, Maria Bilyk, bought equipment for a hospital for UAH 2.700m hryvnias in memory of her son. It is known that Ihor Didur died in October 2023 in Donetsk oblast.
Poltava oblast
A soldier from Poltava, Ihor Vykhodets, died while defending Ukraine from the russian army in Donetsk oblast. The soldier was 31 years old.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
The General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a morning update
that two attacks by the russian army near Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhia oblast were repelled by the Armed forces towards Orikhiv sector.
Ukrainian troops repelled one attack by the russian army in the area of Bilohirya towards Gulyai Pole.
The russian army conducted 255 attacks on eleven towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast on 25 December. In particular, they shelled Lobkove, Huliai Pole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Bilohiria, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka and Olhivske 117 times with artillery.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitaliy Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, said that on 25 December, the water area of the Ochakiv community came under mortar fire. There were no casualties.
Odesa oblast
The Navy reported that as of 6am on Thursday, 26 December, one russian ship carrying Kalibr cruise missiles fired up to 4 missiles in the Black Sea.
Kherson oblast
As a result of russian shelling of Bilozerka in Kherson region, a fire broke out in an apartment building, the State Emergency Service reported. A room and two balconies were on fire. Rescuers evacuated a person from the apartment and extinguished the fire over an area of 20 sq m. There were no casualties.
Kherson RMA reported that the russian army shelled Beryslav. An 83-year-old woman who was on the street was wounded. She was taken to hospital with an explosive injury and a shrapnel wound to her leg.
Kherson RMA reported that the russian military shelled Komyshany. A 42-year-old man sustained an explosive injury and contusion. He received medical assistance on the spot.
Russian occupants dropped explosives from a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. Two people were injured.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Kherson RMA reported that in Kherson oblast, russians intensified manoeuvres with manpower and equipment and increased their firepower.
Kherson RMA reported that russian troops shelled Dariivka in Kherson oblast. A 48-year-old man was injured. He was hospitalised with an explosive injury and shrapnel injuries to his neck and legs.
Kherson State Emergency Service said that russian troops attacked Komyshany in the morning. One of the shells hit a private yard. Wooden structures and two cars caught fire. Rescuers promptly extinguished the fire.
The Southern Armed Forces reported that towards Prydniprovskyi, russian occupants stormed Kozatskyi Island three times yesterday, trying to take control of it. However, to no avail, the russian troops fired on 27 settlements in Kherson oblast on 25 December. They hit social infrastructure and residential areas. Two people were injured.

Volyn oblast
The Military Unit A1556 received a KVERTUS AD KRAKEN COUNTER FPV F4 M50 portable radio-electronic countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles and a HYMO L model portable radio-electronic combat device, complete with a remote control and brackets for mounting antennas on the vehicle from Lutsk community.
Zakarpattia oblast
The 1st regional center for psychosocial support of the population has opened in Uzhhorod. A modern Center with high-quality technical equipment and human resources will not only provide the population of Zakarpattia with access to free psychological services and legal consultations and will minimize the consequences of experienced traumatic events and prevent the development of mental disorders.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Carpathian rescuers became blood donors for Christmas. After passing a preliminary medical examination and issuing all the necessary documents, each rescuer donated 450 ml of his blood, which can save three lives.
Lviv oblast
The For Military Service to Ukraine medal was awarded to Savelii Bakhtinov, senior soldier of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade, from Zolochiv district,. He was killed on 3 June 2022.
Rivne oblast
During December, over 1,500 families of IDPs living in Rivne oblast received food and vegetable kits from the World Central Kitchen International CF in partnership with the Integration Center NGO.
Ternopil oblast
The RMA reported that there are 37,074 war veterans registered in the oblast, among which the largest share is made up of combatants – 21,168 people and war participants – 10,477 people. 2,241 persons with disabilities as a result of the war and 2,107 family members of the dead were also registered.
The RMA reported that Military Units in which residents of the oblast serve, received means of radio-electronic warfare REBTER and an ANT ground robotic complexes.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council once again donated property, included, REB, REP, FPV drones, copters, UAVs, special equipment, etc., worth UAH 82m to military units.
Khmelnytskyi City Council approved amendments to the budget for 2024. Changes were made to 11 existing Programs. Expenditures for the Social Support Program for military personnel have increased (already UAH 507m), the Heroes’ Families Program (already UAH 454m).
Chernivtsi oblast
Since the beginning of 2024, agricultural producers of Bukovyna have received financial support in the amount of UAH 42.7m thanks to the program supported by the World Bank, within the framework of which 714 farms and other producers of agricultural products received assistance.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Alle Dorhauta, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ukraine, announced that the Netherlands already allocated €3.8bn to Ukraine, another €6bn is planned to be allocated in the near future.
Japan sent $1.2bn to Ukraine through World Bank projects. So, among the funds that Ukraine received from Japan:
- $602m was provided within the INSPIRE project to ensure social protection of low-income and vulnerable population groups;
- $400m under the SURGE program to finance the recovery and stability of Ukraine;
- $250m under the RISE project for the development of the private sector;
- $220m within the framework of the THRIVE project to increase the efficiency of public spending on health care;
- $200m– the LEARN project to build a safe and comfortable educational environment.
Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, met with Ma Shenkun, newly appointed Ambassador of China to Ukraine. During the meeting, prospects of bilateral cooperation between China and Ukraine were discussed.
Joe Biden, US President, reacted to russia’s massive attack on Ukraine on Christmas Day. He ordered the Pentagon to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine. According to him, in recent months, the US has provided Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles, and even more are on the way. Joe Biden added that the United States and the international community should continue to support Ukraine until it wins victory over russian aggression.
The 1st unit of the Ukrainian Legion, which is being formed in Poland, went to Ukraine. He left for further education. The next group of volunteers will sign contracts with the Armed Forces on 10 January, after which they will begin training at one of the training grounds in Poland.
